Ive mentioned this before on my other blog, but everytime I think about it, it astonishes me how much Arcane feels like it successfully pulled off what Hazbin Hotel was trying to do. You got:

Lesbian lead couple that have amazing chemistry despite their different backgrounds and personalities? Arcane did it better than Hazbin

Male characters that are fleshed out enough to have their own narratives but don't overshadow the female leads and instead support their plotlines? Arcane did that better than Hazbin

Diverse character designs that tell you so much about each character and helps them stand out from one another? Arcane did that better than Hazbin

An accurate portrayal of social hierarchy and how even if those in elite positions genuinely care about every person, they still may be blinded by their own privilege? Hazbin barely had that but Arcane did that better than Helluva Boss

Building conflict between two nations where one abuses their power over the other and the lower nation is ready to rise up and start a war for their equality? Arcane did that better than Hazbin

Fast paced plot that tells multiple nuanced stories in a single digit amount of episodes but everything still feels comprehensive and realistic? Arcane did that better than Hazbin

Overarching themes of parenthood without feeling like the show is telling the same story again and again? Arcane did that better than Hazbin and Helluva Boss

Both have gorgeous animation and wonderful musical segments and this one is more debatable than the others, but I feel like Arcane uses their animation and soundtrack much better as a way to tell their story while Hazbin uses it more for style than for adding to or progressing the plot (but obviously both shows use it for both plot and style simultaneously)

I don't feel qualified to talk about their portrayals of trauma, especially when it comes to Angel Dust and Jinx, but I'd love to hear from someone with more experience than me how these two shows compare in that department and in regards to making fictional trauma feel realistic without glamorizing it or only showing it for the sake of being edgy

Aaaaaaand we're back with another scene from Anguish of the Marrow (this fic has the BEST imagery!) Chapter 9

"Little reminders of home and happy times. The smell of Spanish moss and wisteria, the taste of organic humidity, the song of crickets and bullfrogs..." Alastor inhaled deeply, curling his own fingers around Angel's and squeezing tight. Exhaling, he breathed the word, "Beautiful." Angel looked out into the mangroves, watching the glimmer of fireflies beneath their bent, shaggy backs. "Yeah. It really is." Conversation lulled again. Angel withdrew his hand, but their fingers remained interlocked, resting on the side of the tub. Angel seemed content to put off the actual process of bathing until he had taken the time to soak up the luxury of hot water on a no-doubt aching body, and Alastor was equally content to watch him, lightly stroking his thumb over the spider's knuckles. They looked deceptively delicate, as did his fingers - but Alastor well knew the power with which those hands could grasp, to suspend his entire weight upon the pole.

Angel's boss has a new business partner he's sleeping with, some guy with a television for a head. When Angel finds Vox with a broken screen he realizes he and the overlord have more in common than he thought.

Chapter One of My Body Is An Orphanage (We Take Everyone In) is newly edited and back on AO3. The Angel/Vox trauma-bonding fic nobody asked for is back and better than ever.

In case you missed the mini-drama, it was brought to my attention there were some unintentional similarities with sherwoodfox's magnificent High Clientele series (if you haven't read it, I highly recommend it). Regardless of whether I meant to do it or not, I felt the best thing to do was take the fic down while I re-write those sections. I also decided to take the opportunity to correct some other errors, like inexplicably describing Vox as not having eyebrows (I... truly have no explanation for this). Some scenes are also being expanded on. Chapters 2 & 3 should be back in the next couple of days barring Real Life Chaos™ (lemme tell you, today has been a day)

If you're new to this fic, it's a hurt/comfort (higher on hurt than comfort) fic about Angel and Vox and their parallel relationships with Valentino, as told from Angel's perspective. This fic deals explicitly with abusive relationships, including sexual abuse, and also features a fair amount of content about drug addiction. Detailed warnings are provided at the start of every chapter.

Against my better judgement I’ve acquired two new books from Ollie’s: Coriolanus by William Shakespeare and Empire Games by Charles Stross (which I didn’t know was a series when I got it lol whoopsie… I usually don’t read series; but this is classic-style dystopian sci-fi with time travel so it’s a little different).

Seeing how people are noticing Verbalase's video I posted. I'm aware of the fake drama spewed by people on twitter.

How I'm seeing it, with critical thinking skills & trust issues:

Discord screenshots can be faked. You know how there's meme generators? Well there's discord one too. And Verbalase (As someone who followed him years ago) never once mentioned a discord server.

Video was a distraction to simply bash on HH series, with real transphobic people mislabeling Charlie. The blonde demon girl that chases after Verbalase. Charlie is Bisexual. They exist. They can date either men or women or BOTH! Poly relationships exist.

If someone wanted to spend 50k on self insert animation, poorly done as that one going around. They are welcome to it. That one however was heavily traced. Someone used HH pilot video scene by scene to trace over.

Real focus was those discord screenshots of Verbalase being transphobic and all. Just a general ignorant asshole basically. Again, they can easily faked and he never once mentioned a discord server that I know. And I followed this guy YEARS ago. Lazily keeping up to date to his vids.

If this turns out to be true, which I doubt majorly, no one should be using "Well im friend with trans, gays, and lesbians" card, thinking they are safe from a general asshole towards anyone within lgbtq+ community. If you say anything harmful towards lgbtq+ community at all, you get blocked for life. I don't care who you are. You are no one's friend. Get educated or go play in traffic.
