For anybody who isn't an EGS reader and this somehow happened to cross your dash, I'm challenging myself if I can explain...

Hope is one of a powerful hidden group of humanoid beings on a version of Earth superficially a lot like ours. They have regeneration a lot like Time Lords in Doctor Who... Usually the new version only knows what the previous version knew "as if they read it in a book." But Hope's previous incarnation, "Pandora," did her regeneration differently, to keep her emotional connections after regeneration too... for Reasons (a whole separate can of worms.)

Before that she had befriended a (basically) normal human, Sarah, a relationship that she valued VERY highly, and now that she is (sort of) back, her #1 priority is to re-befriend her. She seems to feel it would be simpler to befriend her all over again, posing as a normal human, and explain the real situation later, which is basically the whole reason she learned to play MTG and entered this tournament. So... ACTUALLY meeting Sarah has been MASSIVELY built up in her mind!

So you can imagine how Sarah approaching her unexpected has broken ALL of the scripts in her mind about how she thought that first conversation would go, so she's basically BSOD rebooting now lol)

Pictured below is Washington DC band Hoover, although the different members come from various towns in the US. They came to DC to record their one and only album “The Lurid Traversal Of Route 7″, that came out on Dischord records in 1994 and that meant the end of Hoover as a band. They still recorded an EP later in the nineties and reunited for a series of shows, but unfortunately I never saw them live. Hoover is usually put into the emocore genre, but that is just too easy, they were way more than that, incorporated jazz, dub and experimentalism into the Washington DC sound and brought influences from the different hometowns of its members. Lurid Traversal is one of my favorite Dischord albums, and the song Electrolux I play in this show never ceases to amaze me. I think there are two live versions of the song on YouTube and there’s also the quite brilliant “Relectrolux/Electrodub” version on the 1997 EP. There’s a lot of bands that rose out of the ashes of Hoover, including Abilene, Regulator Watts, The Crownhate Ruin, The Sorts, The Boom, and last but not least June of 44. I hope you enjoy this moment of nostalgia, I played it back to back with another brilliant track from the always brilliant Lungfish.
