As Bloomberg reported, “The Office of Intelligence and Analysis posted an updated policy manual late last week that removes references to those characteristics in sections that set guardrails on gathering intelligence.” Now, with far fewer trans and queer people left in the intelligence community, there will be even fewer voices to push back if these tools are turned against us.

do you ever think about the paul bennewitz debacle and go insane for a minute? like. federal agents lead a prolonged psychological warfare campaign against a private individual, up to one of the agents becoming a "friend" of his, and convincing him that an alien invasion of the earth was happening within walking distance from his house? they broadcast fake alien transmissions to his home computer and planted phony evidence of ufo crashes and the like until he literally had to be committed to a psych ward????

all in the name of national security. even though he told the agents from the outset that if the weird lights he had witnessed were part of some kind of government project, he would willingly not look into anything anymore. but no. they decided to ruin his life.
