Pikachu is jealous guys! How. This feels weird considering his incredible bond with Satoshi but, oh my lord Riolu really is doing what I said as a joke: “This boi is mine now!“ Oh dear... Pikachu what’s going on sweet lil baby.. wait the scene where Riolu comes out of its Pokeball when Pikachu was ready to battle Galarian Kamonegi/Farfetch’d  in NS027 was a foreshadowing?!?!

August 2nd: NS031 - Hinbass and the Pretty Scale

Sota has come to Satoshi and Go for advice. He explains that his friend Nami is feeling bad because everyone keeps telling her her Pokémon isn't any cute. The Pokémon in question is a Hinbass, which is said to be the shabbiest Pokémon in the world. However, Nami and Hinbass aim to win the Water Type Pokémon Friendship Contest, since the truth is that Hinbass hides an amazing secret. Three years ago, Go met a young boy named Tokio on a family trip to Hiwada Town in the Jouto region. Tokio was searching for the Mythical Pokémon Celebi, and the two kindred spirits decided to search for it together, but Celebi turned out to not be all that easy to find. The two of them parted ways, promising to meet up again the next day to continue their search, but Tokio never showed up at the spot they had promised to meet that day. Flash forward to present day, when Go once again visits Hiwada Town and ends up encountering... I reaaaaally hope this ends up giving background story to why Gou’s hesistant on making friends, because it sounds like a perfect scenario. If it does, I’ll probably end up liking the episode.

Sidenote, where is Iwane? This is the longest gap between Iwane animated episodes in a looooong long time, which is now 8 episodes? If I’m calculating correctly. Huh. He’s still active on twitter so he’s all well but... hm.

Gosh darn the pokeani fandom in forums is already calling jealous Pikachu episode the worst just because Pikachu is OOC based on summary.... gee,  wait for the episode to air first, might end up being a beautiful episode, who knows.

To give an example of an episode that sounded horrible at first but ended up changing my mind after seeing the ep, I honestly ended up liking the Rotom episode from Sun & Moon where Satoshi had a fight with him because, honestly, it was a shock, it was not expected, and Rotom just deciding it like that definitely must have felt like a knife twisting him. I don’t blame Satoshi for being OOC in that episode because shock like that does it (and tbf the conversation between Lilie and Satoshi is some of the best dialogue I’ve seen in the show so it already saved the episode for me back then), so I won’t judge an OOC Pikachu until we see more of the episode.

Just think about it, Pikachu actually hasn’t been used in a battle since Kalos PWC Battle Fest where it had to look after Riolu during Corni battle... Wonder if he’ll be used in this weekend’s episode either, or next week!

I have nothing else to add to NS030 talk.

I’ve rewatched it with subs now. Satoshi did say the kind of lines that WOULD definitely trigger Pikachu to act this way, that also in some way felt Satoshi-like. I don’t think he meant them in rude way, but considering how he hadn’t considered Pikachu wanting to battle some more and wanted to focus on Riolu training, the whole reason Pikachu was jealous was because he felt lonely without Satoshi. Not because he didn’t get to battle. He enjoys Satoshi’s company and felt like he was drifting away. I fully, fully understand that feeling. Dyamn, Reiko Yoshida doing fine job telling stories for Pikachu.

I’ll just... cave in and keep on loving the relationship Satoshi and Pikachu have. It’s so special. And freaking beautiful.

Let me just love this episode in peace <3 If you didn’t like it, I’ll accept that we see things differently. Nothing wrong with that. I’m just happy we got a unique take on Pikachu’s bond testing with Satoshi and WISH we had this sooner!

Rewatched NS030 in full again, RAWs only.

Didn’t break down that much this time but still cried at the end because SHIT FUCK SATOSHI AND PIKACHU AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH ALSO HANAKOOOO

Oh btw, I am 100% certain Pikachu saying “Pikapi, Pikachuu“ is meant to be understood as “Satoshi, daisuki“, as in Satoshi, I love you. ;V; Ah, Pikapi, how I am so glad to hear you again.

Oh, Koharu was quite nicely done today as well, she and Gou learned about how Satoshi met Pikachu from Hanako and I just love how they react to the story. And I love how this ep ties to last week and has Koharu right away notice that Pikachu is jealous. And yes, anon was right: Satoshi told to Pikachu how Koharu told him to be more considerate of Pikachu’s feelings. Essensially, scolding. I would have loved to seen that scene but, I actually realised this episode was from Pikachu’s and Barri-chan’s perspectives, so it works.

Rewatch with subtitles happens tomorrow after work and after-work errands are done.

(new episode spoilers) minor but one more thing i am losing my mind with over this ep: satoshi says koharu scolded him about not properly paying attention to pikachu's feelings?? which means like.... actual satoshi and koharu interaction?? even if it was offscreen?? i'm yelling

KOHARU SCOLDED SATOSHI?!?!?!?!

 I know I heard Satoshi say that Koharu told him about Pikachu feeling jealous but I admit, I might have not understood the dialogue perfectly.

This episode was a whirlwind of emotions. I found it so hilarious how Pikachu grinned after shocking Ash in the hug to immediately being scared when Hanako started scolding him XD

That was such a good timing for a comic relief I swear. I was crying so loud and then laughed at that scene like “ty I was about to melt“.

And aaaah I love how Hanako scolded Pikachu for it and then did a gentle boop to the head ;V; I love Hanako so much I swear!
