Lord Narasimha
Narasimha avatar is known as the fiercest avatar of Lord Vishnu among his Dashavatara. Lord Vishnu took this avatar to eliminate the demon king Hiranyakashipu, who had created havoc in all three dimensions.
Out of the several avatars of Lord Vishnu, ten important incarnations are classified as Dasaavataras. Among them Nrusimha avatar has attained a rare significance and importance. All His avatars are generally of a single form(apart from Varaha). But Narasimha avatar is of a dual form, Nara + Simha. Nara means man and Lion is an animal. Narasimha means a combined form of a Lion and a Man. This was the 4th avatar among the Dasavatars and it was a Sathya Yuga Avatar said to have taken place in Chakshuva Manvantar. It is said that in reference to Lord Narasimha is found in as many as 15 Puranas, and a separate Purana (Upa Purana) itself has been scripted in his name called Nrusimha Purana.
It was an instant avatar, called as Aavesa avatar (no prior preparations were made) where the Lord Narasimha appears in a very ferocious and fascinating form. Narasimha Avatar is referred to as a very powerful, precious avatar and the Lord Narasimha is depicted as a great protector at the time of need. He is the God of Gods. He is Mrithyu for the Mrithyu (one who eliminates the death cycles)
Sri Vishnu Sahasra Nama describes Lord Vishnu as “NaarasimhaVapu Sreeman Kesavah Purushothama” meaning He is the one who has taken a rare and unique form of a man and a lion whose worship will eradicate the ignorance, possessor of the Goddess of wealth Sri Maha Lakshmi, who always dwells in his chest, one who has beautiful and charming hair, the giver of knowledge to Gods, greatest among all Purushas, the Supreme Soul, who is omnipotent and omniscient.
FORMS OF NARASIMHA
There are several forms of Narasimha, but nine main ones collectively known as Navanarasimha:
Ugra-narasimha
Kruddha-narasimha
Vira-narasimha
Vilamba-narasimha
Kopa-narasimha
Yoga-narasimha
Aghora-narasimha
Sudarsana-narasimha
Laksmi-narasimha

Making it easier to verify an AI model’s responses
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/making-it-easier-to-verify-an-ai-models-responses/
Making it easier to verify an AI model’s responses
Despite their impressive capabilities, large language models are far from perfect. These artificial intelligence models sometimes “hallucinate” by generating incorrect or unsupported information in response to a query.
Due to this hallucination problem, an LLM’s responses are often verified by human fact-checkers, especially if a model is deployed in a high-stakes setting like health care or finance. However, validation processes typically require people to read through long documents cited by the model, a task so onerous and error-prone it may prevent some users from deploying generative AI models in the first place.
To help human validators, MIT researchers created a user-friendly system that enables people to verify an LLM’s responses much more quickly. With this tool, called SymGen, an LLM generates responses with citations that point directly to the place in a source document, such as a given cell in a database.
Users hover over highlighted portions of its text response to see data the model used to generate that specific word or phrase. At the same time, the unhighlighted portions show users which phrases need additional attention to check and verify.
“We give people the ability to selectively focus on parts of the text they need to be more worried about. In the end, SymGen can give people higher confidence in a model’s responses because they can easily take a closer look to ensure that the information is verified,” says Shannon Shen, an electrical engineering and computer science graduate student and co-lead author of a paper on SymGen.
Through a user study, Shen and his collaborators found that SymGen sped up verification time by about 20 percent, compared to manual procedures. By making it faster and easier for humans to validate model outputs, SymGen could help people identify errors in LLMs deployed in a variety of real-world situations, from generating clinical notes to summarizing financial market reports.
Shen is joined on the paper by co-lead author and fellow EECS graduate student Lucas Torroba Hennigen; EECS graduate student Aniruddha “Ani” Nrusimha; Bernhard Gapp, president of the Good Data Initiative; and senior authors David Sontag, a professor of EECS, a member of the MIT Jameel Clinic, and the leader of the Clinical Machine Learning Group of the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL); and Yoon Kim, an assistant professor of EECS and a member of CSAIL. The research was recently presented at the Conference on Language Modeling.
Symbolic references
To aid in validation, many LLMs are designed to generate citations, which point to external documents, along with their language-based responses so users can check them. However, these verification systems are usually designed as an afterthought, without considering the effort it takes for people to sift through numerous citations, Shen says.
“Generative AI is intended to reduce the user’s time to complete a task. If you need to spend hours reading through all these documents to verify the model is saying something reasonable, then it’s less helpful to have the generations in practice,” Shen says.
The researchers approached the validation problem from the perspective of the humans who will do the work.
A SymGen user first provides the LLM with data it can reference in its response, such as a table that contains statistics from a basketball game. Then, rather than immediately asking the model to complete a task, like generating a game summary from those data, the researchers perform an intermediate step. They prompt the model to generate its response in a symbolic form.
With this prompt, every time the model wants to cite words in its response, it must write the specific cell from the data table that contains the information it is referencing. For instance, if the model wants to cite the phrase “Portland Trailblazers” in its response, it would replace that text with the cell name in the data table that contains those words.
“Because we have this intermediate step that has the text in a symbolic format, we are able to have really fine-grained references. We can say, for every single span of text in the output, this is exactly where in the data it corresponds to,” Torroba Hennigen says.
SymGen then resolves each reference using a rule-based tool that copies the corresponding text from the data table into the model’s response.
“This way, we know it is a verbatim copy, so we know there will not be any errors in the part of the text that corresponds to the actual data variable,” Shen adds.
Streamlining validation
The model can create symbolic responses because of how it is trained. Large language models are fed reams of data from the internet, and some data are recorded in “placeholder format” where codes replace actual values.
When SymGen prompts the model to generate a symbolic response, it uses a similar structure.
“We design the prompt in a specific way to draw on the LLM’s capabilities,” Shen adds.
During a user study, the majority of participants said SymGen made it easier to verify LLM-generated text. They could validate the model’s responses about 20 percent faster than if they used standard methods.
However, SymGen is limited by the quality of the source data. The LLM could cite an incorrect variable, and a human verifier may be none-the-wiser.
In addition, the user must have source data in a structured format, like a table, to feed into SymGen. Right now, the system only works with tabular data.
Moving forward, the researchers are enhancing SymGen so it can handle arbitrary text and other forms of data. With that capability, it could help validate portions of AI-generated legal document summaries, for instance. They also plan to test SymGen with physicians to study how it could identify errors in AI-generated clinical summaries.
This work is funded, in part, by Liberty Mutual and the MIT Quest for Intelligence Initiative.

"Asura Qualities." From the Narasimha Uttara Upanishad. “The Exploration of the Mysteries of the Reply".
From Chapter 5:
"One who knows like that would shine as God Para Brahma Narasimha, "The Solitary Supreme Reality, who consumes all evil as the Golden Lion Victor."
But what happens if all you do, think, and act out is due to corruption? What causes this?
Here begins the Sixth Chapter
6.1 Devas wanted to understand this Atma (soul). The Asura qualities caught hold of them. To get rid of that effect, they worshipped Narasimha who is the Thuriya soul which is in the summit of Omkara using the Anushtup Mantra.
-> And kind of hypocrisy, blasphemy, slander, corruption, lying, gossip, propaganda, and time delusion is permitted to cloud over the Grace of God in a person's and interfere with social justice, it is said the Asura Nature, the nature of the unholy spirit is at work.
The cure for these qualities of the devil is explained next:
6.2 Then the sin like Asura qualities itself became the great light of wisdom which is the prime happiness (like poison becoming medicine). Those devas (the faculties) became mentally calm, having their sensory organs under control, became those who were not attracted by worldly desires, became those having patience, became those whose conduct became stable, became those who were attracted by the Atma, became those who were having playfulness, unity and happiness, and became those who realized that “Om” is “light of Atma which is Para Brahmam”, and felt that all other places are empty and merged in to the “Om”.
-> By giving up and the prayers, the confessions, the holy banter, and focusing on the Life Essence itself instead, one will find one automatically achieved stability, dignity, happiness and playfulness, the hallmarks of a saint.
Austerity of speech, inwardly and outwardly is the first way to restrain the Unholy Spirit and find the true Spirit of God:
6.3 So the practitioner should do penance like devas, stabilize his mind in the Omkara Para Brahmam, and would make other people see his Atma as Para Brahmam.
-> "Omkara Para Brahman Atma Para Brahman= This God, the Most High, them essence of the Supreme Light of the Universe is the very same light by which I illuminate myself."
6.4 There is a holy stanza about this viz. “After meditating on the horns which are the different parts of Pranava and further meditating on the Thuriya Paramatma which is a horn but not a part, add the Nrusimha Raja Mantra to the different parts of Pranava."
-> To meditate upon the "horns" of the Pranava, "the sacred symbol" is but to remind oneself God is good, God is great, etc. all the different pathways to God's Grace till one recognizes these qualities as native to the open space within oneself.
First, the delusions have to go, then comes meditation on God as Pranava the Supremely Friendly Being, then upon the Self.
6.5 The three types of Devas (Sathvika, Rajasa and Thamasa) serve the Pranava in which, the first two letters (Aa and Uu) are merged and fixed in the third letter Ma and make themselves exalted.
There are three types of human nature according to the Upanishads. Each exists in homeostasis with the others. They are lackluster, delusional thoughts and desires called "Tamasa", agitated, angry or ambitious desires called "Rajasa" and noble thoughts and desires are called "Sattva".
They are represented by Aa Uu Mm the beginning, middle and end of the Sanskrit Alphabet, AKA Aum, OM, and ॐ.
To get rid of the Asura Qualities, aspects of the desire to be corrupt and yet long-lived, practice only the qualities of the Sattva, the saint and though shalt be successful.

New Odia Book Nrusinha Purana Odia Book By Pitambar Dash
Purana iterally meaning "ancient, old"is a vast genre of Indian literature about a wide range of topics, particularly about legends and other traditional lore. The Puranas are known for the intricate layers of symbolism depicted within their stories. Composed originally in Sanskrit and in other Indian languages, several of these texts are named after major Hindu gods such as Vishnu, Shiva, Brahma, and Adi Shakti. The Puranic genre of literature is found in both Hinduism and Jainism.
The Nrusingha Purana is one of these texts and its has special significance because it contains many storys related to lord vishnus incaration as Rama.
Nrusimha Purana is one of the Upapuranas. R.C. Hazra in his Studies in the Upapuranas came to the conclusion that the original text was written in the later part of the 5th century, though several portions of it were added much later. This work was translated into Telugu about 1300.

Happy world book day: Importance of Scriptural Evidence in Hinduism
In Indian philosophy, there are six types of Pramana among which three types are considered major ones and accepted by most of the schools of Indian philosophy
Pramana means that which yields knowledge (prama Karanam pramanam)
Pratyaksha is the first means of knowledge – pratyaksha means that which is seen with ones very own eyes, or in a broader sense, one’s perceptual evidence. Though this is the first in the list of means of knowledge, this is considered to be very limited. Because one’s own life is limited and also their personal experiences and perceptions, sometimes they can also be faulty.
Anumana is the second means of knowledge in the order anumana means inference, logical guess or assumption. A classical example for anumana is if smoke is visible, then there may be fire which is burning. Prakyaksha and anumana work hand in hand most of the times to arrive conclusions.
Upamāṇa pramana (comparison and analogy) is the next in the list of pramanas, for comparison and analogy also. The scriptural material plays a vital role.
Arthapatti (postulation, presumption) in next the list of pramanas, generally considered the weakest of the pramanas by most of the schools
Anupalabdi ( non-perception, negative/cognitive proof.) such as understanding that something is absent or something is not present
The last in the order is shabda pramana, (word or testimony) or textual evidence, in my opinion this is one of the greatest pramana, (means of knowledge) to understand or learn something, we depend largely on textual evidence, because it is the collected record of experiences, perceptions and inference of great ones, the experts, the real intellectuals and the wise.
Vedas (shruti) is the first and foremost and ultimate shabda pramana in hindu philosophy, smrutis, purana, itihasa, and other sacred scriptures also fall under this category.
The Vedanta, Sankhya and yoga schools accept pratyaksha. Anumana, and shabda as the main and reliable pramanas among which shabda pramana is of foremost importance
By this we can conclude that the testimonial evidence of word or textual evidence, of past or present reliable experts is the most proper and wide means of knowledge.
To acquire detailed knowledge on any matter, books are thus the best source, reading is the best practice.
To learn and acquire knowledge on various topics of Hinduism please read, read more…
