Wild how we know that Elizabeth Woodville was officially appointed to royal councils in her own right during her husband’s reign and fortified the Tower of London in preparation of a siege while 8-months pregnant and had forces gathering at Westminster “in the queen’s name” in 1483 – only for NONE of these things to be even included, let alone explored, in the vast majority of scholarship and historical novels involving her.

But it's 100% true so I had to post it.#elizabeth woodville #my post #Imo this is mainly because Elizabeth's negative historiography has always involved both vilification and diminishment in equal measure.#and because her brand of vilification (femme fatale; intriguer) suggests more indirect/“feminine” than legitimate/forceful types of power #It's still bizarre though-you'd think these would be some of the most famous & defining aspects of Elizabeth's life. But apparently not #I guess she only matters when it comes to marrying Edward and Promoting Her Family and scheming against Richard #There is very lacking interest in her beyond those things even in her traditionally negative depictions #And most of her “reassessments” tend to do diminish her so badly she's rendered utterly irrelevant and almost pathetic by the end of it #Even when some of these things *are* mentioned they're never truly emphasized as they should be.#See: her formal appointment in royal councils. It was highly unconventional + entirely unprecedented for queens in the 14th & 15th century #You'd think this would be incredibly important and highlighted when analyzing late medieval queenship in England but apparently not #Historians are more willing to straight-up INVENT positions & roles for so many other late medieval queens/king's mothers that didn't exist #(not getting into this right now it's too long...)#But somehow acknowledging and discussing Elizabeth's ACTUAL formally appointed role is too much for them I guess #She's either subsumed into the general vilification of her family (never mind that they were known as 'the queen's kin' to actual #contemporaries; they were defined by HER not the other way around) or she's rendered utterly insignificant by historians. Often both.#But at the end of the day her individual role and identity often overlooked or downplayed in both scenarios #and ofc I've said this before but - there has literally never been a proper reassessment of Elizabeth's role in 1483-85 TILL DATE #despite the fact that it's such a sensational and well-known time period in medieval England #This isn't even a Wars of the Roses thing. Both Margaret of Anjou and Margaret Beaufort have had multiple different reassessments #of their roles and positions during their respective crises/upheavals by now;#There is simply a distinct lack of interest in reassessing Elizabeth in a similar way and I think this needs to be acknowledged.#Speaking of which - there's also a persistent habit of analyzing her through the context of Margaret of Anjou or Elizabeth of York #(either as a parallel or a foil) rather than as a historical figure in HER OWN RIGHT #that's also too long to get into I just wanted to point it out because I hate it and I think it's utterly senseless #I've so much to say about how all of this affects her portrayal in historical fiction as well but that's going into a whole other tangent #ofc there are other things but these in particular *really* frustrate me #just felt like ranting a bit in the tags because these are all things that I want to individually discuss someday with proper posts...

Oh, I have lots of ideas for them.

Because I'm drawing them pre/early-relationship, I have a lot of stuff I haven't gotten to yet. I think, despite Rarity falling in love first, AJ is the most outwardly and obviously in love. Like, girl is in LOVE with her wife. The type to take off her jacket and put it over a puddle so her wife can cross. The type to walk around with hearts popping over her head.

Something I definitely wanna get around to drawing is how they were when Rarity first moved to Ponyville, because they would've hated each other, lol. AJ going from, "I can't stand her fake ass. 😒" to, "Yes Miss Rarity. Anything you want, Miss Rarity. 🥴" Or Rarity going from, "What a big, dirty brute. 😡" to "What a big, dirty brute. 🥵"

Anyways, later one comic idea I had for when they eventually get married is Rarity comes home to catch AJ trying to surprise her with a dinner. But things are going awry because AJ is so stressed and nervous about making everything perfect, and she even burns her apple pie. She has a bit of a breakdown because she feels she can't do anything right like she's supposed to anymore, and Rarity comforts her and tells her, why don't they bake the pie together? The comic ends with the two kneading dough together.

#esafagus #ask me #i've stated this in previous comics but aj is a bottom and rarity is a top #rarity does that classic seductress cartoon thing where she grabs aj's collar or tie and pulls her along #i think i've gotten the more suggestive ideas out there already so it's gonna be sweet and wholesome stuff from now on #also gonna use this time to do a mini rant of how the hell were they not endgame #they did an entire “there's only one bed!” routine and fought over blankets in SEASON ONE #there was an ENTIRE episode where the b plot is they argue over useless junk they wanna buy and then argue that they're #the better partner and is willing to let the other buy that useless junk before ending with both buying something sweet for the other #THERE'S AN ENTIRE EPISODE where rarity's mad aj won't take time off work to go on a proper date because she's a workaholic #THEY WERE MARRIED BEFORE THEY EVEN STARTED DATING

Karen has four older brothers and this is Ross! He's the second oldest and he looks rather polite and smiles a lot and when he's at work he can behave most of the time... but he really has such a foul mouth it puts Right to shame.

And Karen when she was a kid couldn't pronounce S's and they sounded like Z's. So when her brothers would be leaving for school she would say "enjoy zool" and just. Could NEVER say Ross's name correctly so he told her to just call him Oz. And it stuck but only with Karen. She's the only one to use it and no one else is allowed.

#my characters #also fun fact she has decided to legally rename him for when shes mad at him #so instead of yelling his full proper name #she will yell OSWALD THOMAS WILSON which is the fake first name but actual middle/last #and its just thats a guy that she wouldnt want to admit to knowing if she saw him in public #hes actually p short so yeah hes a short king #the oldest bro and the second youngest are both taller #the middle middle is basically the same height as him so karen really is just the wittle bab #and all her brothers are super protective of her bc thats their baby sister #she does however have a strong sense of I GOTTA PROTECT THE MIDDLE GUY #so she is kinda used to standing up for older guys just bc of he #but it comes into being a problem when she meets rick and is like fuck it he may be older but #he is too kinda for this world and also theres no way i can love him hes basically a baby brother #and she will pick on him but also would absolutely throw hands for him #and and i know the tags are long as is but eventually karen and rick move past the whole youre like a brother vibe #and they become very good friends - still zero romance involved - but she starts to treat him less like a family member #and it makes him feel less awkward and in turn he feels more open to joke sometimes #cause for a long while rick is just this is really awkward and i wish we would stop matching on dating apps but she wont leave me alone #so its rude to turn her down when she offers a friendly drink to check up on me #but its actually karen being protective older sister mode despite being the youngest of five #this is the most i have managed to draw in like two weeks i think #now im super tired bye

Starting a challenge tomorrow where I listen to one TMBG album a day chronologically until my epic journey starts

#let's have a little tmbgtober in preparation for THE DAY!!!!!!!#almost forgot about this because i had this idea months ago and now i have just the right number of days left to do this #could it be that i'm finally realizing the true wonder of this fact. the day i've been waiting for!!!!! so close!!!!#seriously what even is four weeks. and if i count it from the day we leave on our journey it's just about 3 weeks #i wonder how much of that whole trip i should document here. i've been planning to make it very thorough. like a daily thing #i've never done a proper 'travel log' like this (at least one that i share online you know) so why the heck not try it now. could be fun #but who knows what i feel like doing by then. might be to busy for that level of documentation #and i want to make the most of the time i get there #but yeagh i will definitely make a super detailed review of the show at least. this is def happening #i'm 100% sure i will have the greatest time of my life there no doubt about that #because i'm not even considering the possibility that it won't be good. the whole trip AND the show #also wow there's dates for the 2025 us tour already. always super exciting to see #you know what 2025 tour i'm thinking of now. i'm already annoying my whole family with this because it's finally CONFIRMED #so maybe i should make it clear now that when sparks drop the tour dates #you will all have the opportunity to see my appropriately enthusiastic reaction to that (biggest understatement of the century)#but that's a topic for another day #goosepost

Everytime I face a new character limit on a website that didn't have them before/used to have really long ones... AUGHHhhh the modern social media world was not made for people like me (lovers of details, rambling, elaboration, thorough explanation, and nuance)

#twitter and other short form shit and everything being a Phone App On Small Screen instead of a Proper #Computer Website i feel like has just ruined the format of literally everything for me. Thoughts just keep getting more and more condensed #with detail and nuance taken away. everything over simplified into only the basics. blah blah blah. I've already probably rambled about thi #all before but it's just SO frustrating. I literally just CAN NOT talk that way!!! even if I try!!! I took multiple advanced placement #english & language arts classes in school and I literally never made below an A on any assignment EVER except for ESSAYS #where I would legit get almost failing grades just because I cannt express myself concisely. I took an english placement test thats made to #like evaluate your competency in a subject and out of the 102 multiple choice questions I only missed TWO of them. almost a perfect #score. But for the 5 open response questions (about articulating thoughts succinctly) I did not get a single one of them lol #I only got partial credit on 3. It's like I OBVIOUSLY understand the material and I know how Words Work and how to analyze and interpret #meaning and etc. etc. But it's just when I have to express myself CLEANLY I can't. It's always ''well you have very good points and you #get around to the idea eventually and I think it's very insightful - but it just needs to be shorter/the side tangent needs to be removed/#etc.'' I've always wondered if it has something to do with being on the schizophrenia spectrum and how that can cause disorganized #speech sometimes hmm..ANYWAY.. But I just naturally express myself in a very particular way which is lengthy and I can't rea #ly seem to control it. So it's basically like just.. being gradually pushed out of every place that won't accomodate people with different #ways of like perceiving and expressing or etc. Everything cannot ALWAYS be 100% 'Short and Snappy and To The Point' or a quippy one #liner or the Bare Minimum of information being provided or etc. Some peoples brains just do not work like that!!!!! Sorry I operate #in detail and elaboration lol. ANYWAY.. I still sometimes use random ''dating sites'' like OKCupid to look for platonic friends since #I never leave the house so it's hard for me to just meet friends naturally. And I just realized today that they added a RIDICULOUSLY small #character limit to their messaging system (2000 words?? augh). And also took away answer explanations (when you answer a compatibility #question you used to have a space to give detail and explain why you answered the way you did) and removed a few other features and it's ju #t like.. how the fuck is any of this actually helpful in terms of judging compatibility? take away ALL nuance and anyting that actually #is meant to tell you anything about a person? Bumble's character limits for your profile description are even more fucking insane and so #is every other disgustingly minimalistic place I've seen like.. OKC used to be superior BECAUSE it allowed for a TON of detail. like back i #2016 or something there was SO much data you could look at. long form question answers. personality trait summaries. etc. Now you have #SOO little to judge off of when evaluating compatibiility it's like. You'd have better luck just throwing a dart in a crowded street and #talking to whoever it hits. Why are people so fucking allergic to reading anything longer than 3 words and providing DETAILS!! It just seem #harder and harder to find any place to meet platonic friends where you have any amount of actual data to go off of and it isnt basically #just random 'speed dating' set up shit. AARGH. &I know 'oh just join a club& meet ppl irl' 1. erm..covid. 2.I mostly want to meet ppl #in places I'd like to move so I already know ppl when I get there. You kind of HAVE to do that online. bc I am not there yet.. WISHING for #Complexity.Com where ppl can upload full 900 page psychological files of themselves. MINIMUM profile character limit 30k words lol

Jays time as young lion is soo important to all of this, in canon he literally studied these guys and was in the background for everything that happened in 2015/16 cause of his trainee role, which can be read as such an interesting backdrop for why he is the way he is now

also fun fact theres a match where trainee Jay White tags with Kota against then BC leader AJ Styles (who later got succeeded by Kenny) and Bad Luck Fale (who, behind the scenes, made it possible for Jay to become a young lion in the first place), funny looking back now, and fascinating how far back all these connections go
