i enjoy porya hatamis approach to noise, i think its almost in an opposite space to merzbow at times in how it verges on anti music in how light its touch is. like when does the pop of vinyl blending into the sound of rain become music. i really enjoy the way they make a little go so far

I made a "Moon Knight season 2 vibes maybe?" playlist and I kinda wanna explain my thought process and what I think should/could be included in 2 and why the songs give off those vibes
Tumblr media
I can see clearly now by Johnny Nash - I can see S2 opening with Marc and Steven waking up and life seeming good for once. They're happy, working together, there's banter. Maybe they've found a job or are job hunting but it should start with them thinking they're gonna have a totally normal day and life
"I can see clearly now, the rain is gone I can see all obstacles in my way Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind It's gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright) Sun-shiny day"
2. Aline by Christophe - This screams romance to me. They should show early on that they're still with Layla but working through all the issues that were brought up in S2 (figuring out the divorce paper situation). Despite the hardships, this song shows how much they love her (don't we all?)
Just listen to this for two seconds and imagine Marc and Steven just looking at Layla like lovesick fools
3. The Bushman's Song by Stan Coster - New villain!! <3 I like how this sounds like a fun country song but it should play while showing that Bushman is back and has an old grudge to settle with Marc, in a brutal scene where he does something cold-blooded like it's nothing. Maybe a slowed-down scene of him walking through a bloody crime scene, smoking and looking at a recent picture/recording of Marc
4. Tonight You Belong to Me by Patience & Prudence - This would be perfect for a timelapse type of scene showing Jake Lockley doing Khonshu's bidding
"My honey, I know (I know) With the dawn that you will be gone But tonight you belong to me"
5. The Three of Us by Streetlight Manifesto
Marc and Steven aren't stupid, nor is Layla. They all know something is going on and I'm sure they want to find out who has been in control during their blackouts. S2 should include scenes where Steven and Marc talk about the blackouts and try to catch Jake somehow.
Once they finally do (which I can imagine happening in an action-packed scene, maybe in the middle of a fight) this song would be so good for it. I can picture it so clearly, this fight scene with the camera panning around them as they switch who's fronting and Marc and Steven being pissed because Jake is using mk powers, arguing while having to fight off their enemies
"There we were, the three of us The thief, the king and I Finally, we were forced to see We were equals in the night"
6. One by Three Dog Night - Speaking of Jake Lockley, I think S2 should show how lonely Jake really is, another side of him than just a fighter. How does he feel when Steven and Marc get to be with Layla and live normal lives, without knowing Khonshu is still on their asses? Jake must feel a horrible burden to protect them while also being all alone, probably thinking about how no one even broke him out of the sarcophagus in 1x05
7. Blood On My Name by The Brothers Bright - S2 should dive deeper into Marc's past, especially with Bushman. Show us more of what happened between them and why Bushman now is coming after Marc.
Can you imagine how terrifying it is for Marc and Steven when they think they're powerless and fucking Bushman is after them??
"It won't be long, 'til I'm dead and gone Watch the fires rise, burn through my skin Down to the bone, scorchin' my soul Nowhere to run"
8. Come Together by Laren O'Connell (specifically her version) - This is more fitting for a scene where Jake, Marc and Steven finally work together with mutual understanding. They are united against Khonshu, against Bushman and everyone else who gets in their way. This scene would be so beautiful 🥺 them taking their power back
"He roller-coaster, he got early warnin' He got muddy water, he one mojo filter He says, "One and one and one is three" Got to be good-looking, 'cause he's so hard to see
Come together right now Over me"
Basically the "we are moon knight" moment from the comics
Tumblr media
9. Adoro by Armando Manzanero - Jake and Layla scene!!! He would be so whipped after she calls his ass out
"Adoro la forma en que sonríes Y el modo en que a veces me riñes - Eres mi luna y eres mi sol, eres mi noche de amor"
10. Parasite by Set It Off - This song is angry and to me, it gives off the vibes of an epic Moon Knight fight scene. Obviously, Khonshu is a Parasite to them but I also think they should show their rage and anger in season 2 and maybe give us a cool suiting-up scene
"If I'm such a wreck, then why so obsessive? Devil playing God Performative mess, just craving attention Taking what you want From me so you're not obsolete Sinking your teeth, I'll bleed But all you'll be is just a parasite!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The playlist has even more songs but this post would be way too long if I included them all. But here's a few to feed the s2 waiting room delulu <3

Story Pile: Dummy, by Portishead
I have never once thought that my tastes in music were cool. I may have wanted to think they were cool, I may have entertained fantasies of people thinking they were cool or liking them, but unless I cast my mind back to the truly cringe mind of a cultist child imagining introducing a non-christian to my redemptive Patch the Pirate music, and changing their mind and saving their soul all at once, I don’t think I ever had the fantasy that the music I listened to, that I liked, that I wanted people to think of as cool was the music that people around me would listen to and go: That’s cool.
No, coolness is an affect, coolness is a vibe, coolness is something that I don’t have and something I know I can’t get.
As long as I’ve known anything about what other people think is cool, though?
Portishead is something cool people like.
Dummy is one of the three albums Portishead have released, and they released it in 1994. It predates the Portishead album Portishead released, which is pretty impressive to me in that it suggests this album was so good people would buy an album that only remarked upon itself to say hey, it’s more of that band you like. And immediately, I’m thinking about the practice of listening to this album. Because, hey, uh, how do you listen to albums? It’s not a thing I’ve done a lot of, not in recent years. I know I listened to the old Jimmy Buffet albums of my dad’s, but that was finding music that spoke to my childhood and my life growing up, the things I knew all the words to, the – well, I mean, literally, he referred to them as the songs you know by heart. Listening to a new album you don’t know, that’s an experience that’s challenging to do, certainly a first time with a big gap.
A thing I know I struggle with when I first listen to a song is understanding the singer. I need to be fluent in the voice of the singer to actually learn what the song’s words are – the idea that I can listen to a brand new song for the first time, from someone I don’t already know, I need to spend some time becoming familiar with how they use words. I think this is one of my weaknesses, too, where I just need to dwell with music for a while to get to the starting point of ‘what this song is about.’ Now, part of this is because I listen to Ska music so much, a genre populated by mush-mouth white guys who want to avoid a challenging lyrical structure unless I guess they’re from Streetlight Manifesto.
Listening to Dummy in 2024 – I mean, c’mon, yeah, you know these are set forward in time, right? – meant finding the album on youtube, putting in my headphones and listening to it while I sat at the computer and tried to take notes about each song as they went. This is an experience where if I was trying to work out a story, a narrative of each subsequent song, or what I thought of them would work – which is again, how I tend to listen to an album like say All The Hype Money Can Buy.
That’s not what Dummy sounds like.
Dummy is, I am told, the progenitor of the musical sound known as Trip Hop. I didn’t even know what Trip Hop was, not as a thing I encountered and then named. It was instead a thing I heard mentioned in a list by people who didn’t like it, because of its name being somewhat nonstandard. I have Denis Leary echoing in my head saying No hip, trip, skip, fuckin hop, which is his way of complaining about music that isn’t basically the Rolling Stones. That means I know ‘Trip Hop’ exists, but never heard it before in any way I know. Like imagine someone who never saw a Chicken but heard lots of people complaining about Chickens.
This is because this person hangs around a lot of people who are racist about Chickens, I guess.
Anyway, trip hop, without delving deep into its meaning, appears to be a beat- based music that’s trying to invoke the feeling of a drug trip. Across all the music of Dummy, there’s a distinct character but a deliberate use of instrumentation that doesn’t sound as simple as ‘a bass’ or ‘a drum,’ but instead things like a pulsing, electronic horn, set to not sound sharp and painful, but instead the dull, tonal repetition of almost your own heartbeat. The songs do have distinct, separated lines between one another – a pause, a genuine silence – and they don’t use the same instruments from song to song, meaning that while it was easy to zone out and feel the songs bubbling one from another, they are distinct from one another.
That means that while the songs have a mood, the album has a meta mood, a whole atmospheric vibe that swallowed me up and left me reaching for the same descriptive terms. The voice of the songs, the character of them felt to me of this sort of elegantly yearning struggle. It’s a voice that sings powerfully and honestly of feelings of being exposed and incomplete, all while the music creates this feeling of nothingness around these vibes.
Overall, this reminded me of Powderfinger, a band who I have a deep adolescent dislike on despite feeling also that all the songs of theirs I can bring to mind are great. That’s what overplay on a radio in your teenage years will do. See, the radio was – you know what, never mind. It also reminded me of the sound of Massive Attack and Radiohead, which, like, it feels in hindsight, looking at the time and influence that yeah, it stands to reason that I see a relationship between the Ford company and the Model T Ford.
If you’d like to listen to this album, I’m sure you can find a way on whatever music listening process you like to use. This is a CD from 1994, the odds are good you’ll be able to find it in a thrift store, or you could befriend a much cooler girl than you and listen to her copy. Failing that, the album is also available on your local library’s website and archive.org.
Check it out on PRESS.exe to see it with images and links!

if you dont mind sharing, what are some of your favorite ska songs/bands?
I will admit I am not a huge band person I tend to be more of a "pick whatever random songs sound good" person, so I can't recommend any good bands. I also listen to Ska Punk, which is a subgenre of Ska... and Punk. So I am not a good authority on Ska songs to listen to I am just someone who is banned from being passed the aux cord...
But some of my favorite songs include:
No Children - Ska (cover)
Quinto Patio Ska
Everything Went Numb
S F D D
And songs by Reel Big Fish tbh. I know I just said I don't listen to specific bands but Reel Big Fish has some pretty good songs like...
Sell Out
And their Take on Me cover
Here's my disclaimer, though: I am not into music subcultures I just listen to whatever sounds good (and jazzy punk with horns sounds good), so I could be giving absolutely awful music recommendations that anyone who is especially into Ska (and more specifically Ska Punk) might find egregious. I personally just grab whatever song sounds good and add them to my forever long playlist.
Also the Jabberjaw (Running Underwater) song from Pain used for the Cartoon Network Boomerang Groovies is probably the reason I enjoy Ska punk so much, and it has been in my playlist for years now:
If nothing else in this list interests you, I require everyone by law to listen to Jabberjaw Running Under Water by pain and watch the Cartoon Network Boomerang Groovie video of it. I used to watch Boomerang a million times, and this was probably the only Groovie I really enjoyed watching and didn't go to the bathroom during.

didn't poast last week so this is a two-week extravaganza post! con: got roped into DMing dnd pro: none of these fools have read mdzs so i can steal plots from there. hope the party is ready to be lead on a quest by a disembodied arm!
listening: oh shit SO many things. i will not be linking to all of them.
depeche mode: basically just their top songs on spotify, not any specific album. strong shoutout to 'shake the disease' and 'wrong' (which featured in my secret samol post!)
disturbed: ditto
franz ferdinand: albums 'hits to the head' and 'tonight'. throwbacks
phoenix: 'wolfgang amadeus phoenix' ditto throwback
inxs: 'x' DITTO throwback. doesn't hit the same as when i first listened to em years ago unfortunately
streetlight manifesto: album 'somewhere in the between'
boy and bear: 'harlequin dream'
sammy rae: 'let's throw a party', 'the good life', and their 'everybody wants to rule the world' cover
hozier: 'wasteland baby' and 'unreal unearth'
paramore: album 'this is why'
grizzly bear: 'veckatimiest' and 'painted ruins'
haken: their newest album 'fauna' because i'm thinking about whether or not to go to one of their shows in feb (leaning towards yes right now)
my SO's pinecore playlist
shosty symphony no 5 (<3)
and, finally, a lot of borodin symphony no. 1 in e flat and the last two movements of rimsky-korsakov golden cockerel because that's what the youth orchestra i'm volunteering with is playing right now haha
for podcasts, i've listened to the new counter/weight prequel eps! i'm so charmed to see these characters again. i still haven't finished millenium break holiday special because i lost my spot when a bunch of an episode played without sound by accident so i finally went and scrubbed back to the beginning of the episode (it's the second to last part) so by next week i will FINALLY be out of holiday special zone.
reading: finished rereading tgcf lol,,, in loving memory of square checkbox: apparently apple is switching to circle ones? hateful wikipedia page for kessler syndrome my friend @celestialtourguide sent me a dm to ask about a few of the characters in this manuscript and i was immediately charmed by it. it's so pretty, i loved the informational blurbs, just really cool stuff. it was already on waybackmachine but i've gone ahead and updated it.
Tumblr media
watching: kurtis conner looksmaxxing. weird little subculture peek. rewatched sideways' why the music in cats 2019 is worse than you thought because my roommate was interested. this led us to the same channel's why avatar has the most ironic soundtrack of all time because roommate misread ironic as iconic and she really likes that movie. no accounting for taste, but aight. much more interesting than i thought it would be. that video then lead us to tony hinnigan's woodwind demos because hell fuckin yes. big-ass panpipes.
i've been keeping up on dunmeshi anime in little watch sessions with my SO, and also am working through kill la kill with him! i've seen it before but he has not so i'm really enjoying that.
playing: fallow.
making: i managed to finish my secret samol gift in time for reveal day!!! comics are fuckin hard dude!!!! i don't know if i'll be doing it again but it was a fun challenge. i decided to use a New App for some reason instead of procreate because procreate has not been hitting right and i wanted comic half tone brushes for this project. app is called sketchbook, it's an orange icon with a pencil on it. shrug! it's fine! i'll probably keep using it for a bit. started working on an english paper piecing project! soliciting tips for that because right now my method is: cut out hexagon using pattern piece i made to be 1/4 in larger all around than the template, gluestick template onto hexagon, baste edges down neatly, whip-stitch right sides together. remove template once all six sides have something attached. i'm sure there's a better way to streamline this process, i'll have to experiment. this will end up as a dice bag i think.
Tumblr media
finally, pottery starts again this week! so next week will have some of that in here
eating: ah beans i did not do a good job keeping track of this. uh. made the ground pork & cabbage thing again because my roommate got SO much napa cabbage for making kimchi and we had a shitload left over. napa cabbage isn't as good as a more standard cabbage for this imo, standard cabbage tends to be a little sweeter i think once it's cooked in? idk. had some stage 5 mental illness moments last week trying to cook dinner on a very short time scale with lots of other shit to do, following a recipe because fucking of course my roommate wanted me to cook with a recipe that night. anyways.
misc: like said at the top, somehow i managed to sign up for Another Activity god damn it. so now every saturday evening i run dnd. tl;dr i'm in a group irl that meets biweekly, someone who i give a lift to for that was complaining in the car that their other online group's dm ragequit after his encounter wasn't well-balanced (skill issue) and before thinking about it i just was like oh well i could probably step in if you need! god damn ittttt lol i have missed dming so it should be fun. i vibe checked them for a session 0 last week and they seem chill and honestly shouldn't be too much work on my end, especially if i yoink plots from mdzs ha ha ha. other than that, all is basically well. i've settled back into a schedule, applied for some summer positions (!), and absolutely hate the amount of busy work in one of my two classes. yippee

Now sit down, let me show you a personal favorite of mine Streetlight Manifesto! Okay, we're gonna start with their album Somewhere in between and go from there, if we dived into Everything went numb first you'd fuckin' loose your head at this shit. If this doesn't do anything to you i have some other choices under my sleeve. We got Bumpin Uglies, they'll defiantly knock your socks off! We also could go down The Aquabats route (but personally i think they're a bit overrated.) Or, Or! Ideas for stories and such...
I'm a bit overwhelmed with plot bunnies right now, and I think writing them all out is the best way to get 'em all straight. So... here are a few ideas for future fics I'd want to write. I dunno which one(s) I should focus on first...
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
A Saga Most Ordinary : I have ideas for two more chapters, one about Eivor playing Dungeons and Dragons with the three Good Boys, along with Hytham, Randvi and Tewdwr, and another about her and Valka Staging An Intervention because she thinks Sigurd went and joined some cult because of his new girlfriend (ie Fulke).
Untitled/maybe it’ll just be chapter two of an existing fic, I dunno: A new companion piece/sequel of sorts to ‘Nornir's Curse, Nótt's Counsel’ about Randvi and Valdis just hanging out (on the beach while their respective spouses watch over the young ‘uns) and talking about their (rather similar, really) lives.
Dishonored
Take Your Silver Spoon (Dig Your Grave) : A two-shot about two bastard-born princesses of the Kaldwin line. Part of it is already written, I just need to get off my ass and do something about it lol
You and Me and The Leviathan Makes Three : An AU where Daud survives the events of DoTO, and Billie is stuck trying to find new purpose in her life while teaching a god-turned-boy how to Human and a suicidal old man how to… not be a total wreck of a person . Oh, and the Abbey of the Everyman is falling apart all around them (which makes the Boysider happy, since his two newfound biggest goals in life are 1) to destroy organized religion and 2) to save the whales. Every chapter would be set in a different isle, with titles based on sea shanties.
Dracula
Untitled : A little one-shot about how Drac might have gotten to Mina on the night of October 3rd. Because the details are kinda hazy on that, right?
Final Fantasy XVI
The Tale of the Telamonides : Before the mission to Drake’s Head, Mid shows up to the Hideout to Bring Chaos and Shenanigans to everyone’s live. Because I was sad that we never did see her interact with Cid.
Gravity Falls
Dungeons and Dummies : …I need to finish this you guys, I already have it all planned out. I feel weirdly anxious about this story, mostly because I don’t happen to have the whole of the rules of D&D stamped in my brain (shocking, I know). It’s like I’m afraid I’ll have someone go, ‘hey, that’s not how it goes in the Player Handbook, page so-and-so blah blah blah ’ so I don’t even try, you know?? It’s a weird thing.
The Awesome Mixtape of the Apocalypse: A story where Dipper and Mabel’s parents join both sets of twins on a roadtrip to Gravity Falls. The concept would be that Mabel made a mixtape with songs for everyone in her family (so for example Ford definitely gets weird prog rock like this, listen my dad was a happier, most well-adjusted Ford, and that was his shit, car trips in my family were trippy), with each character represented by a particular musical style (the Pines mom’s got punk ska like Reel Big Fish and Streetlight Manifesto lol…) and each chapter corresponding to one song. I got every big story beat and character moment planned out, I just… need to get off my ass and write, I guess.
Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West
Untitled : Aka Aloy watches Varl and Zo together, gets confused/frustrated, and shares a convo with Erend that helps her figure out she’s asexual. Sweet!
Untitled Rost and Ersa fic : Rost and Ersa, as ghosts, hang around Aloy and Erend for the events of the first game (and have a mini ship war about the merits of Ereloy as a couple). Also known as ‘Rost Gets Another Grumpy Daughter Because These Are Sure Fun To Collect Or Something’.
Mass Effect
Untitled : Just a little Shakarian ficlet about Shepard listening to Thane’s story about how he met his wife after the events in Garrus’ loyalty mission and her being like, oh, oh boy, oh no.
Radiant Historia
Will You Learn to Love (Without Consuming): A little one-shot set in the Apocrypha ‘verse which is not compliant with the canon shown in Perfect Chronology. Basically my take on who became the big Mana Monster causing the desertification (and why he’s a foil to both Heiss and the Conuts Guy).
Déjà Vécu : A one-short about Ernst and Heinrich (and, by association, Stocke and Heiss) because I guess that’s what I always write about in this damn fandom.
This Sweet Corrupting Reality : Basically the only parallel history I would have liked to see in Perfect Chronology, that is, Stocke wakes up and realizes he is now King Ernst of Granorg.

75 - we got classic rock. I listen to this song sparsely because I don't want to burn myself out on it. Are The Monkees a one hit wonder? I don't know. I've never bothered to look into them other than this song. Maybe I've heard their other songs, maybe I haven't. I can't tell.
76 - ska is my soul. I absolutely love, love, love the trumpet/guitar combo. The instruments are povers. This song opens up with the line: "Someday you will grow up and learn to lie. Just like your daddy did when he told you 'no one ever really dies' I hope that I'm not there when you realize, that those with their nose in the air will never look you in the eyes" do you know how fucking powerfully that hit me the first time I heard it? I've been listening to this song for a handful of years now and it always makes it's way into my wrapped
77 - Dropkick Murphys are genuinely one of my favorite bands. They sound just as good live as they do in the studio. This song was written by Woody Guthrie. A socialist, anti-fascist legend who inspired generations of politics and music. The most famous musician inspired by Woody Guthrie was Bob Dylan.
From my understanding, this album and it's sister EP, Okemah Rising, were all previously unreleased lyrics of Woody's. There is a song or two that features his vocals. Go listen to both of these albums.

tagged by @itshighjuniper to share 5 songs i've been listening to recently!! thank you juni ^u^ i am not including songs that are on the playlist that plays at my work (which I have been listening to ad nauseam but not by choice) or songs from the OSTs of stuff, just because those would probably dominate the list (that said, some of the OSTs I've been listening to lately: Across the Spider-Verse, Revue Starlight, Gatchaman Crowds, fanmade g witch covers). anyways!!
- PRESSURE BOMB 2!!!! by Jhariah: have been listening to a LOT of jhariah lately, super super cool style and I always always always love narrative albums. this song in particular just makes my brain happy and also, like, vibrate aggressively. it's nice!!!! other favorites include ENTER: A BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO FAKING YOUR OWN DEATH (the opening track off the album A BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO FAKING YOUR OWN DEATH), Promises, Needed A Change of Pace, and Flight of the Crows
- Riptide by the Scary Jokes: been a fan of the scary jokes for a whiiiile now, and this has been one of the songs from their newest album that i've been listening to the most (other two favorites from the album probably being Forever In You and Rage). Burn, Pygmalion!!! is still an all timer to me tbh (MEANWHILE ON THE ROOF JEANNIE CONSIDERS THE VASTNESS OF THE COUNTRYSIDE THE DARKNESS OF THE MOUNTAINS-) but I am also enjoying RB and bonus points the cassette looks SICK AS HELL
- Love Me Dead by Ludo: introduced to by way of a podcast and thoroughly wormed its way deep into my brain along with Tick Tick Boom by The Hives, Electric Version by The New Pronographers, and Picture, Picture by Harvey Danger. anywhays, god DAMN that chorus kicks ass. also, the video is pretty fun!!
- Venus Ambassador by Bryan Scary: song that I actually found ages ago and only recently checked out the rest of the album for- it's really good!! i think there's a narrative going on here even if I havent quite figured it out in its entirety but in the meantime gosh the music is good and the vibes are exquisite. other favorites off Flight of the Knife include La Madame on the Moon, Mama Waits, and Son of Stab
- A Better Place, A Better Time by Streetlight Manifesto: Streetlight Manifesto singlehandedly made my opinion of ska as a genre do a 180. one day while cleaning/organizing stuff in my room I decided to listen to, like, almost if not all of their discography, and this one was my favorite. made me cry the first time I listened to it!! anyways, my personal recommendation is to do what I did and listen to the entire Streetlight Manifesto discography just fuxking do it
anyways, tagging @theclairewitch @plaintivemeow @lvnarsapphic @sg-x00-airgetlam @destructix (absolutely no pressure tho yall lol) and, like, anyone who sees this and wants an excuse to do one of these!!

ON A DIFFERENT NOTE I WAS JUST POKING AROUND AND SAW THAT MOD PHIL LISTENS TO BUG HUNTER? man us philza kins all share a musical braincell i guess because holy fuck i don’t think i’ve ever run into anyone else who listens to his stuff! i’m gonna have to politely ask you to hand over more recommendations for music because you’ve got TASTE. -🌾🪶
ARNJS i am staring at you soo hard I know like two other bug hunter fans and theyre fans because I commandeered the music bot and insisted on playing all of his songs during a music vc night... Anyway we are slaying so hard rn. us phils just have the best music taste 😎
OKAY anyway this took forever cause I tried to narrow down my list but ajfanfdk I listen to a lot of stuff. god there's so much music i enjoy that I could go on forever about random songs and stuff so uh yeah... I banished my bs to under a cut for the sake of not making a post that is annoying to scroll past. enjoy whatevr i did -za
Mickey Darling!! RAHGjsA a lot of his songs are like about breakups but they're all very upbeat and fun despite the lyrics. Honestly its so funny to me I literally found him because of a fanfic that used lyrics from say that you miss me (which like god yeah the author got me... it was extremely right for the character they used it for i know cause they're literally me). you were perfect & im so sorry is vry good and also I've had somewhere else stuck in my head since it came out...
Jukebox the Ghost. okay okay they just never miss! i adore like everything they've made but uhmmm I think the cheers album is my favorite still right now like dont get me wrong i love everything they've made but ajldnf how can I not like cheers. Brass Band and I Got A Girl are so good. I will say uh shout out to It's No Secret cause its inspired several pieces of self indulgent ship art I've made.
Streetlight Manifesto... The Hands that Thieve got me out of one of my weirdest music eras. I mean it's ska punk it's not too far from the uh protest songs I was listening too, but ska was more palatable than most of the shit that I was really into for a bit. Anyway listen to If Only For Memories too its good.
LyreLeTemps! god okay so i like electroswing a lot and ashutjak just fuck man Time Train is extremely mecore when it comes to a specific kin. A lot of the music i listen to gets shifted around depending to my shifts lol. Also listen to Nanana it's a close second for my favorite song by them other than Time Train
Groundbreaking, god i've listened to this guy for so long... I think all his music is great but the Anarchy I & II are my little guys I listen to them all the time still. They practically got me through quarantine... Uhm if I had to recommend a specific songs instead of just saying listen to the Anarchy Albums maybe VIP and Beautiful people. Those two were my favorites but jsut to get somthing from anarchy listed too uhm anarchy or media star
The Wrecks god another band I listened to a lot during quarantine... Fvck Somebody and Panic Vertigo are my #1s forever but I really like their new music too. Unrequited and Sonder came out at such a good time for me, unfortunately that means I have like four writings wips that have titles that are just the lyrics of those songs...
Air Traffic Controller is another band that made quarantine bearable for me god why have the last three just been quarantine time killers. Anyway I listen to Creature of the Night a lot because I love being thematic with my music when I pull all nighters. Uhhhh other than that Anybody got a light has quickly become one of my favorites from them too
Atarashii Gakko!! This is the only non english band I'm actively a fan of rn. My friends are like big into like Kpop and I'm more of a cpop or jpop guy but like even then I almost never find a band and get super invested. but raghg the choreography and vocals just everything really scratches my brain. I really like watching their dance practices idk its just so fascinating to me. uhm okay uh Fantastico and NAINAINAI yeah those i recommend them :]
AND because I cant help myself here's some things I wanted to talk about but uh 90% of it would just be me keyboard slamming cause I cannot articulate my enjoyment of them
Circa Waves: Your Ghost & Golden Days
Good Kid: Mimi's Delivery Service
Saint Motel: Sweet Talk & Slow Dance
Rare Americans: Walking N Talkin
Burn the Ballroom: Calm Down & Crazy
Bear Ghost: Haunt the Cartoon Heart & Sirens
Andie Schoen: the prophet (you love me) & loitering
The Happy Fits: In the Lobby & So Alright, Cool, Whatever
Hobo Johnson: Peach Scone & February 15th

music asks: 1, 4, 6, 8 (or artist tbh), 13 and 19!!!
1. what is your favorite song. right now. tell me.
proooooobably Lovejoy's cover of The Perfect Pair, but Dropshipped Cat Shirt from Wilbur's newest album goes DELIGHTFULLY hard
4. what band started it all for you?
growing up i listened to a lot of the same rock music my mom did, and my first mp3 player had all those types of songs. i'd say Skillet and Three Days Grace were the first of those bands i notably recognized as favorites for more than just 1 or 2 songs. the first artist i personally demanded be put on that mp3 player was Selena Gomez, but the first artist that really got me insane about music and lyrics and how it made me feel was Fall Out Boy!
6. what bands/artists do you want to see in concert?
Lovejoy ofc but also Streetlight Manifesto and Joywave!! i've been fortunate enough to see quite a few of my top artists but these three have slipped by me due to timing or lack of funds when they were coming to my areas. other artists that would be cool would be quadeca or Freddie Dredd :3
8. tell me about your favorite band. go on infodump for me.
i mean currently it's Lovejoy duh but also those who know me know my LOVE for Yung Gravy and bbno$. i've seen Gravy 3 separate times (with bb for 2 of those shows) and one of them was a whole 4 hour drive away. any time Gravy goes on tour i immediately buy tix if he's coming close enough by to convince my friends to go with me (since i can't drive myself just yet). out of all 3 shows the 2nd one was easily the best! they played in a college auditorium and had a pre-show experience that came with a free pin (mine has a visual defect and i LOVE it) where we all took a big selfie. the 1st show i saw of him was at a local small bar/concert venue where i got separated from my friends, but it was fun! the 3rd time my friends and i didn't have great time management and missed the first chunk of the show trying to get back and forth from the state fair to our hotel to get ready, and get back to the state fair to the concert hall, and the seats were just folding chairs crammed REALLY close together. it was stuffy and i could barely see despite buying seats that WOULD HAVE BEEN INCREDIBLE in any other typical seats or standing room. not the artists' faults though, the venue just sucked and after a terrible day at the state fair itself it just wasn't a good time.
(below is mentioned picture from Gravy Baby pre-show experience!!)
Tumblr media
13. what is one album that has irreparably damaged your social skills?
i could easily just say Your City Gave Me Asthma but, honestly rather than album i'd say artist, and that artist would be Quadeca. something about the absolute angst and anger he put into a lot of different songs carried me through a really rough time at my old workplace, but not necessarily in a good or productive manner. i'm an angy person by default, so angy music doesn't always help that.
19. what is your favorite album art from one of your favorite artists?
let me highlight a personal favorite artist i practically never talk about, The Used!! their 2007 album Lies for the Liars is my fucking JAMMMMM and i specifically asked for that specific CD as a kid! the funky boxhead guy has always stood out to me, and i think his expression really captures the feel of the album. i'm also a fan of Streetlight Manifesto's 2003 album Everything Goes Numb, the red and black palette makes for great merch and the songs on it all slap. another notable mention is Joywave's 2015 album How Do You Feel Now, very funky and again perfect for the sound of the album!!
