The pushback to the term "cultural Christianity" from atheists is real odd to me because, as someone who has been an atheist since 13, only ever went to church a handful of times never with my own family (made a note never to sleep over at that friends house on a Saturday again bc I HATED church it smelled like shit, was boring, pews are uncomfortable as fuck, and the religious people I knew were all wildly misogynistic and I've never been here for being told I was less of a person for being Born Like This), and generally had no actual connection to Christianity in a meaningful way but still only knows Christian mythology, has been steeped in Christian values I had to untangle, and my religious understandings are still deeply Christian.

Like Ive never paid attention to the bible, church, Jesus, Christian teachings, or whatever but if you asked me about any religion the one I'll reliably know the most about is Christianity. I don't know why atheists are offended by being called culturally Christian because they have bad blood with the religion because like sorry bruh that doesn't mean you're less indoctrinated by Christian values if the culture you grew up in is predominantly Christian. In fact I'd say that religion being this ubiquitous in the culture regardless of anyone's consent to exactly ONE religion being shoved down our throats is reason to team up with other religious folks who ALSO don't like being constantly evangelized to by the culture at large, not a reason to throw a fit because you don't like being tied to a religion that is so ingrained into the culture that shit like "oh my god" and "Jesus Christ" are common expressions of surprise regardless of how atheist you are. Like surely I'm not the only atheist to notice the shocking amount of cultural religious shit that works it's way into my life and speech despite having not set foot in a church since I was like 10, and I can't remember the last time I was in one before that.

Idk man cultural Christianity seems like a pretty damn useful term to describe my relationship with a religion I never fully bought into and then actively rejected as a child yet still hold weird connections to and knowledge of just because Christianity is so baked into the culture I grew up in like it or not. If you want to be mad, be mad at the Christians who stole your freedom from religion from you, not usually religious minorities who discuss cultural Christianity and how it damages them too.

Can you do one about the Sea of Thieves water?

so . there was a biiig long talk about this at siggraph one year!! you can watch that here if you'd like . in the time between me getting this ask and me fully recreating the water, acerola also released a great video about it . the biiig underlying thing they do and the reason why it looks so good is they are making a Really Detailed Ocean Mesh in realtime using something called an FFT (fast fourier transform) to simulate hundreds of thousands of waves, based on a paper by TESSENDORF

WHAT IS AN FFT - we'll get to that. first we have to talk about the DFT - the discreet fourier transform. let's say you have a SOUND. it is a c chord - a C, an E, and a G, being played at the same time. all sounds are waves!!! so when you play multiple sounds at the same time, those waves combine!!! like here: the top is all 3 notes playing together, so they form the waveform at the bottom!!

now if someone handed you the bottom wave, could you figure out each individual note that was being played? how about if someone handed you a wave of One Hundred Notes. you would think it would be very hard. and well, it would be, if not for the Discreet Fourier Transform.

essentially, there is a way to take a bunch of points on a waveform comprised of a bunch of different waves, add them all together, do some messed up stuff with imaginary numbers, that will spit back out at you what individual waves are present. i made a little test program at the start of all this: the left are the waves i am putting into my Big Waveform, the top right is what that ends up looking like, and all the little rainbow points on it are being sampled to spit out the graph at the bottom right: it shows which frequency bands the DFT is finding (here it is animated)

this has enormous use cases in anything that deals with audio and image processing, and also,

THE OCEAN

tessendorf is basically like, hey, People Who Are Good At The Ocean say that a buuuunch of sine waves do a pretty good job of approximating what it looks like. and by a bunch they mean like, hundreds of thousands to millions. oh no.... if only there was a way we could easily deal with millions of sine waves..........

well GREAT news. not only can you do the DFT in one direction, but you can also do it in REVERSE. if you were to be given the frequency graph of a noise for example, you could use an INVERSE DFT to calculate what the combined wave graph looks like at any given time. so if you were to have say, the frequency graph of an oceaaaan, for example, you could calculate what the Ocean wave looks like at any given time. and lucky for us, it works in two dimensions. and thats the foundation of the simulation !!!!!

BUT WAIT

as incredible as the DFT is, it doesn't scale very well. the more times you have to do it, the slower it gets, exponentially, and we are working with potentially millions of sine waves here

THE FAST FOURIER TRANSFORM here we are . the fast fourier transform is a way of doing the discreet fourier transform, except, well, fast. i am Not going to explain the intricacies of it because its very complex, but if you want to learn more there are a ton of good 30 minute long videos on youtube about it . but essentially, due to the nature of sine waves repeating, you can borrow values as you go, and make the calculation Much faster (from exponential growth to logarithmic growth which is much much slower, and scales very well at higher numbers). it's, complicated, but the important part is it's so much faster and the diagram kind of looks like the shadow the hedgehog story plot

so if we use the inverse FFT on a graph of a rough estimate of what frequency of waves in the ocean (called a spectrum, basically tells us things like how many small waves, how many big waves, how different waves follow the wind direction. sea of thieves uses one called the phillips spectrum but there are better ones out there!!) now we have our waves !!!!!!! we can also use another inverse FFT to get the normals of the waves, and horizontal displacement of the waves (sharpening peaks and broadening valleys) through some derivatives . yayy calculus

OK MATH IS OVER. WE HAVE OUR WAVES!!! they are solid pink and look like pepto bismol. WHAT NOW

i cheated a bit here they look better than not being shaded because i am using the normals to reflect a CUBEMAP to make it look shiny. i think sea of thieves does this too but they didnt mention it in their talk. they did mention a FEW THINGS THEY DID THOUGH

FIRST OFF - SUBSURFACE SCATTERING. this is where the sun pokes through since water is translucent. SSS IS REALLY EXPENSIVE !!!!!! so they just faked it. do you remember the wave sharpening displacement i mentioned earlier? they just take the value where the waves are being sharpened and this will pretty naturally show off the areas that should have subsurface scattering (the sides of waves). they make it shine through any time you are looking towards the sun. they also add a bit of specular ! sss here is that nice blue color, and specular is the shiny bits coming off the sun. the rest of the lighting is the cubemap i mentioned earlier, i dont know if thats what they use but it looks nice !!!!!

then the other big thing that they do is the FOAM !! sorry i lied. there's more math. last one. you remember the wave sharpening displacement i Just mentioned. well they used that to find something called the JACOBIAN and well im not even going to begin to try and explain what it means but functionally what it does, is when the jacobian is NEGATIVE it means waves are clipping into eachother. and that means we should draw some foam!!! we can also blur and fade out the foam texture over time and continuously write to it to give it some movement, and bias this value a bit to make more or less foam. they do both of these!!!

Those comments about whether Percy should be the ✨️IT girl✨️ of the universe or the multiverse got to me

I started thinking about how beautiful she is and how she is accidentally causing a war between the gods, then I started thinking a little and remembered another situation where the beauty of a goddess/woman caused a war, That's right, I'm talking about the Trojan War

All that confusion (according to mythology) started because Eris threw an apple on the table and offered it to the most beautiful goddess, which caused a conflict between the goddesses who got up to get the apple (Athena, Hera and Aphrodite), not Would it be funny if we recreated this scene with the big three?

During act 4 the yanderes are watching the PJ world, they are watching the PJ gods interact at a visibly tense dance, it is very obvious that the three brothers are uncomfortable or irritated at having to interact with each other, during a small argument between the three of them the goddess Eris approaches

She praises the three for having such beautiful daughters and says she wants to offer this golden apple to the God who has the eldest daughter, she throws the apple towards the three and they all get up to catch it and that's when a huge fight begins over which semi -goddess is the most beautiful (let's change the age at which Thalia became a hunter and we will also change the age at which Bianca died so that they are both at the height of their teenage beauty to be able to "compete" with Percy)

The three decide to use the opinion of a quarter to decide who is the most beautiful, initially Zeus asks Hera to be the judge but she refuses (she totally does this as revenge because when she asked him to be the judge last time he refused), no goddess wants to judge this case so they choose a mortal woman to decide

PJ Hades knows that Bianca is not the most beautiful but it is a matter of paternal love to defend her honor, PJ Zeus is defending that Thalia is the most beautiful both as a political act and as a matter of narcissism but he knows that she is not is the most beautiful and PJ Poseidon is arguing that Percy is the most beautiful both because he loves her and because he KNOWS he is right (this will be the ONLY time that ror Poseidon agrees with PJ Poseidon)

In a similar way to the original tale, the three gods go to the mortal and each one makes a different proposal about what the woman will gain depending on which girl she chooses, meanwhile the three girls are next to their respective fathers, each wearing a beautiful dress and decorated with beautiful jewelry (Percy's dress has a marine theme and she is decorated with pearls, Bianca's dress has a gothic theme and her jewelry is all black, while Thalia's dress has a sea theme stormy night sky and her jewelry is more varied jewelry)

Percy (despite actually being the prettiest) loses the competition since Zeus's bribe was better, it all ends up in an even bigger mess than at the beginning because now Poseidon and Hades are particularly bitter about how Zeus is boasting about his victory and the enmity between the three increases

Unfortunately they are no longer at the height of Greece so waging a war to demonstrate dissatisfaction with the result of the contest like Hera and Athena did is impossible (ror Poseidon is almost having an aneurysm due to PJ Poseidon not starting a war or a massacre in the name of his daughter's honor)

How do the ror gods react to this? (more specifically the three big)

"Poseidon is arguing that Percy is the most beautiful both because he loves her and because he KNOWS he is right (this will be the ONLY time that ror Poseidon agrees with PJ Poseidon)"

and omggggg when percy actually loses, someone would need to hold this man back. he's pissed at EVERYONE (except his daughter-wife ofc 🥺). he'd be pissed that pjo!poseidon doesn't even TRY to fight for his daughter's honor, pissed at pjo!zeus for cheating, and pissed at pjo!hades for thinking his daughter even had a chance (sorry bianca, but he hates you for existing 💔), pissed at the human for taking zeus' bribe, etc...

once hades gets a handle on what pjo!zeus' personality is like, he already knew it would end with thalia/zeus winning because he knows pjo!zeus WOULD cheat, so he's not that surprised. disappointed that he would cheat, but not surprised. he's a little miffed that the girls would be put in such a demeaning and embarrassing position tho, and if he were there, he would like to have a word with eris for causing this mess (again).

he'd definitely prefer it if percy won tho cuz he's in love with her AND knows that she's the prettiest of the bunch. sorry to thalia and bianca, but he doesn't know or care for them 😭

meanwhile zeus is cackling and laughing at his loser brothers 😂 he would definitely try to hide behind adamas when shit gets real, but adamas would happily kick him aside and let him face the consequences 😭

Some new info came up on this dumb ghost chicken mystery, mostly courtesy of @flashkirby

Looks like the texture pack is called Gerudoku, a mixed community texture pack that compiled some of the best stuff at the time.

This let us find the chicken's texture and compare it against the model

As you might have noticed by now, the chicken has no beak or face, and what seems to be a *hole* is covering where its face should be. This is because the face is actually rotated 180° (facing backward), then looking straight down (revealing the *hole* thats normally *under* the head).

Why is it doing this? I don't hecking know but it's once again only raising more questions.

In the meanwhile I'm working on a youtube video covering all this information plus theories being pushed forward in the comments. I'm also planning on streaming an attempt to recreate the bug in maybe the upcoming week, we'll see if anything else comes up in the meanwhile.

EDIT: Anyone that is more familiar with minecraft's engine than me, is there anything special about that specific head rotation? The ghost is facing a cardinal direction so would this be helpful to figure out what direction the ghost was facing?

EDIT2: Someone in the comments kindly pointed out the head is just rotated backwards, not facing downwards. I slapped the texture into a posing tool and... yeah. I was originally confused by the lack of beak but that's explained by the fire texture being in the way. Whoops!

"(Y/N)! Come out fast" You hear seungcheol's voice call out for you.

"Coming!" You yell as you slip on your shoes and head out.

It was a chilly night, you clutched your jacket. Seungcheol was on break, he came back to his roots, back to the quiet place he grew up in with his grandmother for bit. You were classmates, you ran into him a week after he arrived.

He remembered you and rest was history you and him would meet up every night to take a walk under the stars. It was peaceful. It had been almost two months of him being around and you were getting used to him, a friend to hang out with.

The mental state you were in before he arrived, you could have totally used a friend. You were glad you bumped into him that day and you were grateful he was around.

You would talk about absolutely anything under the night sky.

"Do you miss Seoul?" You ask him after walking a distance in silence.

"A little, I got used to the city life I guess, but this trip definitely brought back a lot of memories"

He had told you before, being nostalgic made him feel like a normal quiet boy again, you were glad you could make me feel that way.

"Remember how in elementary school, this boy, 'proposed' to me and suddenly the whole class was a part of a wedding" you almost got married in elementary school. You laugh thinking about the incident.

"Of course I remember, I even fake cried" he laughs recreating

"He's a hot shot lawyer I heard" you update him randomly. "Really?"

You nod, "yeah, maybe I should've just married him then" you joke and chuckle at the thought.

"I'm way better now" you hear Seungcheol say subconsciously.

“Oh yeah international celebrity SEVENTEEN” You tease him further.

He only chuckles at that. “Your fans definitely love you, I’ve seen a lot of messages on weverse, they’re..” you look for the right words, “passionate”

You walk in silence for a bit looking at the snow around you. You can hear the crickets chirping, it was that silent. Seungcheol leads you to a bench on the trail and you both sit down. You clutch your jacket closer as chills roll down your spine. You look up to Seungcheol looking right back at you. His hands immediately travel to your jacket zipper and he zips it up for you. You were startled a little and jumped back.

“I have something to tell you”

Your heart races, nothing good has ever come out of conversations that start like this. Your heart sinks and your lips go dry.

“What is it?” You look over at him, summoning all courage.

“I have to go back to Seoul tomorrow” he says and as if right on cue you get another chill.

“Are you alright?”

There was a weird silence before you could speak up. You nod at him, letting him know you were alright. A sudden sense of sadness flashes over you. You realise you’ll miss him. You realise how different your lives are. Everything happens at once.

“Thats good, you keep telling me how you miss your members, I’m sure they miss you too” you say half heartedly. As much as you wanted him to return to his family. You didn’t want to let go just yet.

“I’ll miss you” you hear him say. This suddenly didn’t feel like a friend talking to a friend. You look up a little shocked.

“What?”

“I’ll miss you. I wish I could take you with me”

“What are you talking about?” You chuckle nervously.

He gets off the bench and extends his hand for you to hold, gesturing you to get off as well.

“Makes me sad to leave you here (y/n). You’ve become a part of my routine, I don’t like that I have to leave you”

“What are you saying, we’re friends we’ll keep in touch” you playfully and nervously hit his arm, not sure what to expect.

He turns around and stop, he was too close to your face causing you to jump back and falling straight on your butt.

“That hurt” you say slowly getting up and dusting off the dirt on your jeans. Seungcheol helps you up and slithers his arms around your waist as soon as you’re on your feet.

“Phew, is this a drama? What are you doing” your hands are now on his chest.

“I like you, lets date (Y/N)”

You would be lying to yourself if you said you didn’t have a crush on Seungcheol, but the only thing that stopped you before was to not come off as someone that is using him for his name so you never thought of him in a romantic way to even get your hopes up. Now that he said it himself, changed everything for you.

"Im scared" you say and he chuckles.

"Of what?"

You couldn't answer.

"Your fame"

He looks serious. it's a real possibility. His fame is intense and dealing with all the issues that come with it, the distance, the busy schedules it was too much for someone ordinary as you.

"But..." you start, taking a deep breath.

Seungcheol looks expectant.

"I like you"

A smile creeps up his face.

"Then I'll figure out the rest," he puts the strand on your face behind your ear.

"But..."

"How about we just focus on liking each other" he says and that reassures you, cupping your cheek.

That makes you go soft. He's right. There's no point over thinking this. You like each other, that's all that should matter.

"Okay I trust you" you get on your toes and kiss his cheek, it felt cold.

His face turned red while you pull away.

"Good"

Tangled Unbraided

For ages I've wanted to find a way to use the old fractured fairytale idea of "Rapunzel Unbraided" Disney was going to do in the early 2000s, and decided to just go ahead and show what I've got. So here's some sketches of how the main characters would appear in this hypothetical Tangled spin off movie:

The original synopsis for Unbraided ran as thus:

“An evil witch named Lucretia despised fairy tale happy endings and plotted to change all that. Meanwhile in modern day San Francisco, Claire and Vince are two vastly opposite teenagers who cannot stand one another. Claire is a short haired, fashion obsessed teen who was concerned with her looks. Vince is a stocky and crude pizza delivery boy on hard times. The two of them get on each other's nerves which gets the attention of Lucretia in the fairy tale realm. Lucretia takes Rapunzel and her prince Beau and transforms them into a squirrel and dog, respectively, while Claire and Vince find themselves filling their roles. Claire and Vince eventually team up with Rapunzel and Beau to defeat Lucretia and return to their respective places in time. “

And I'd want to follow the basic plot of that, though with changes with what we have from the actual Tangled movie. But basically two teens from 2007 San Francisco (why not make it a 'period' piece with all this Y2K nostalgia going on that makes no sense to me, a Y2K kid x) get reverse Enchanted and find themselves in the Everrealm. Searching for a way home, mentored by a talking squirrel and dog that claim to be famous fairytale characters also trying to regain their human forms.

The reason the witch tries to recreate the Rapunzel story with two people who are unlikely to give it a happy ending is that she's trying to make a spell to warp reality and bring about another golden flower (so that we can have the one that eventually shows up in Sofia the First) and so gain immortality for herself.

My ideas for the growth journeys each character goes on in this hypothetical movie is of course that Claire and Vince both learn to be more comfortable with themselves/find their real potential, as well as learn that its ok to trust others emotionally, both in a platonic sense with Eugene and Rapunzel mentoring them, and romantically with eachother as they get closer.

Rapunzel and Eugene would have this be an opportunity for them both to work through the concerns they both have about being parents. Sure they both have better parental relationships now, but both grew up with either abusive or absent parents (and then hyper protective ones in Rapunzel's case with Frederick) and though they both want kids they're afraid they might still mess it up. So, getting to help these two teens find themselves and their way home gives them a sense of the type of parents they'll be, and that they'll be ok in the end.

(They also all eventually find out Claire is their many times descendent and thats why she looks like Rapunzel so much, and why the spell called her into Rapunzel's place)

For the Witch I decided to change her name from Lucretia as I already had a character with that name for the Bluebeard story. I still wanted her to have some actual connection to the og Rapunzel fairytale, and a way to know about the Sundrop flower, and while I know we already had Cass as Gothel's kid, per my DisneyVerse she did have more then one over those many many years 😅😬

We already had a benevolent version of another Gothel daughter with my rewrite of Ginny, so I decided this time we'd get to focus on a malevolent one, so our villain for this story is Azalea.

(I based her looks on one of the tree nymphs from Gothel's backstory in OUAT, old Gothel/witch concept art and her name was inspired by Alice from OUAT being Gothel's daughter, just with a sharper sounding plant name x)

daddy kink jokes and getting "dad-zoned" aside, dantes does have a reasonable explanation for the behavior and stance. and maybe thats why i like writing it so much into my fanfics. i dont understand why people dislike this... (is it because of pseudo-incest??? age gap???) but i like it so ill make a post with my thoughts. cut below

because it does come back to the original novel, where when he was incarcerated, his betrothed was stolen away from him and married another bc of pressure, his father believed in him until the end but died without ever seeing his son again... and then there is the Abbe, whom was also his 'fate' and had treated him like a son. so i really get that Abbe Faria who was his light and guide during his time alive would be tremendous inspiration and hope to his heart that has tasted the bowels of despair. coupled with studying under the old man, there was no doubt he truly picked up a lot of things from the Abbe... but also as he is his own person, dantes became a demon of vengeance, one who is compassionate and understanding as well towards victims of circuimstance and highly advocates for determination and personal retribution when wronged.

now, towards fujimaru ritsuka - constantly told to us by the narrative to be the Avenger, Count of Monte Cristo's fate, star, light, accomplice, and "one and only" - his care for them is highly overprotective and selfless that it ultimately becomes selfish and "evil" because it is at the cost of someone else's blood spilled for their sake. he feels like an overprotective father because that is one of the roles he took upon himself... or rather, what you could consider as "canon" if you aren't including romantic implications. (after all, there is that significant age gap that leads many people to simply think that he is a "partner in crime" (platonic) / "older brother" or best friend / "dad" type if the romantic implication isn't preferred by the player....)

but because in prison tower, guda saved him by letting him be their "Abbe Faria" combined with how their soul is and just how guda thinks of him and treats him, the kind of love he has for Fujimaru Ritsuka, grown further overtime, is a kind of madness where you can call it "poisonous". both to him and guda... because if you also think about it, dantes is far more dangerous than any outer god trying to invade their body and destroy the world theyre living in considering dantes in the waste pit and the amount of things sakurai hinted...

one of the factors that also contribute to dantes "dad-zoning" (not really) guda is because guda's family was basically massacred so i think he wants to ease the pain a little bit by being the 'father' in the fake tokyo for them because he cant recreate people guda barely remembers/or isnt in the surface on the bleached earth considering everyone is inside chaldeas, but also being the vengeance demon FROM the book, he doesnt know how to act in any other way other than being the man that was thrown into prison, met the Abbe, and escaped alive. the novel is what the world remembers so those parts of himself that was the "Avenger" was engraved unto the world. in order to help guda, the only way he could do it was through an Avenger like him would. and the man who was saved that is Edmond Dantes's hope and fate- his inspiration is Abbe Faria, whom saw him as a son... and guided him like a light. because with that desire to guide as a light the same way dantes was saved, he put himself into the father role due to how strong his feelings are for fujimaru ritsuka.

even towards haydee, she was constantly referred to as a 'child' throughout the novel because of the age difference until haydee really pressed on and told dantes she loves him romantically. so even to haydee, he felt like a parental figure first even with the master-servant relationship (a time where he can finally have things in control and do what he must to protect those he loves) and to abbe faria, he felt like a friend and a son to the priest (a time where he needed guidance and knowledge) and combined with his personal experiences, he wants what is best for his accomplice.......so i think its really understandable why he would be so close to an "overprotective father" to guda.

its a tough kind of love, but also, so overwhelmingly sweet. where if you struggle and do your best, you will be greatly rewarded no matter what. but if there are factors beyond you that even you cant do, dantes, no matter how incomprehensible and unreasonable he may be, is there to be the fire that will pave your path clear. just as long as you yourself walk it and let him guide you through it. very much like a father...

I don’t think Robert Arryn is the chink in the armour they think he is. With all of Sansa’s previous suitors & Harry, there have been concrete plots to get her married to them. She was officially betrothed to Joffrey (the Baratheon suitor) before the Tyrells brought in Willas (the Tyrell suitor) and were actively planning to spirit her away to Highgarden right under the Lannisters’ noses, only for them to catch wind of the plan (if it can even be put that way) and forcefully get Sansa married to Tyrion (the Lannister suitor). As for Harry, Baelish’s northern plan comes into play which rests on the heels of Sansa getting married to Harry. Not to mention Hardyng is a pretty unknown House to just throw in, dontcha think?

Lysa brings up Sweetrobin in passing, with no plan or even an actual intention to marry them. This is literally never brought up again when Lysa is alive, or even after. The only one repeating any similar sentiment is Sweetrobin himself, who has a crush on Sansa but clearly doesn’t know what it means. So should we take Sweetrobin as a valid suitor? I mean, do crushes count? Because then why not include a whole legion of other Westerosi men who are interested in Sansa and make it a watertight argument. Baelish absolutely wants to marry Sansa, he even asked Cersei for Sansa’s hand in marriage, why isn’t he included? “Because…” yeah you’re there. My point is, the arguments against Baelish & SR are both strong but take a step back to what they have in common, Sansa’s story is leading somewhere else and thematically neither of them fit. One is less serious than the other & thats SR. Be fr with your SR arguments jesus.

Moreover, the Ashford theory and Sansa’s suitors don’t have to be perfect analogues of each other. Hell, we know nothing about Lady Ashford except that she’s 13 and involved in a tourney that was disrupted, and that Sansa is 13 and involved in a tourney that will be disrupted. Man, does this girl have to be named Pansa Ptark now for it to be a valid parallel? Why does George even bother naming his books, he should start calling them the war of the roses and be done with it. Why are we even reading political fiction, let’s just open today’s newspaper. Tf.

And I don’t think I can add anything to the Jon - Targaryen suitor theories that hasn’t been proposed + your points too. We consider R + L = J to be true, first and foremost. The “white guardian”, “dark hair” “the Targaryen suitor being dead” etc etc. In the same vein as the argument above, does he need to be named Jonnel/Jonos now to be taken seriously? Well, he is in another parallel but even that is “reaching” so what can I say? 🤷‍♀️ They’re not going to see what they don’t want to see, but, like you said, watching them jump through hoops and perform mental gymnastics and open a whole circus in the process is truly hilarious lol.

You do bring up an excellent argument, anon, that all of Sansa’s previous suitors have been for her claim to the North, so her marriage with Jon might also be for political reasons. However, the slight exception of Joffrey who was a King in his own right (lmao) exists; which again sort of foils Jon and his actual claim to the iron throne. So I feel that while a political marriage is totally on the cards (solves one too many problems for my liking 😤), Sansa might marry him out of love considering her theme of independence and not-marrying-for-claim. But who am I to say 🤷‍♂️

Lastly, nobody crowned Lady Ashford the queen of love and beauty so Sansa isn’t marrying anyone is sort of funny. Well, Loras gave Sansa a red rose amongst all the young maidens present there, are they a foreshadowed endgame pairing now? Also, how does one come up with Sansa is gonna end up as Lady of the Vale by marrying HH and Sansa is going to end up alone in the same breath?

the redhead in my icon is fuuta kajiyama from the milgram project! milgram is an experimental music project thing about ten prisoners, all responsible for "murder" {each of them have some form of plausible deniability} and the project is about judging them and prison systems and stuff and its really cool!! its split up into three trials, in each, each character has a song with lyrics and a music video giving clues about their crime, a voice drama where the guard interrogates them, and they each receive a verdict which the fans vote, forgiven or unforgiven {idk what happens when its 50-50 that has yet to happen on the final voting}

fuuta is, as of trial one, what i would describe to be kind of an asshole. hes a twenty year old college student {does relate to the assholery to an extent i suppose} with a tough guy persona and unhealthy relationships with his family {his mom left, he doesnt have contact with his sister, and he considers his dad to be a wimp}. hes lonely and desperately craves companionship, so he turns to the internet. he takes up using twitter and makes friends on there, they spend time with one another through what he considers justice, whether or not it is actually justified could be debatable, but it is what others would call cancelling and/or doxxing.

fuuta considers this heroic, believing he is standing up for what is right, however he gradually loses his ways. it stops being justice and starts being blindsighted bullying. he goes as far to cyberbully a middle school girl for recreating a hat from a shop. he figures out where she lives and shares it online. at some point he realizes what he is doing is wrong and stops, but even if he told his "friends" to also cease this, they did not, and the girl ends up dead.

the frame in my icon is him realizing that there is some real person's blood on his hands, and it hurts. presumably his "friends" then went after him for bullying her, despite their role in the encounter. he is overwhelmed with guilt but refuses to admit it. then he gets sent to milgram.

in trial one, he is not forgiven for his actions. one of the other prisoners {kotoko yuzuriha} attacks those voted "guilty" {en translation uses innocent/guilty instead of forgiven/unforgiven and sometimes its easier to word the former pair} because she believes this is right. {theyre really two sides of the same coin but only fuuta really acknowledges} when we see him in trial two, he is a mess. he is anxious and afraid, injured too, he only possesses vision in one eye now. his façade is fully dropped. he is now being fully aware, or at least acting guiltier.

in his second music video, the encouragement from his "friends" is more clearly shown. we can hear ensemble vocals and clapping. from it we can see that the guilt is getting to him, he is hearing the voices of the audience {the characters don't necessarily know they're being judged by multiple people, there is one guard, es, who is an audience insert to a certain extent .} at the end of it, as he is burned alive like how his victim was pictured, he spray painted, like the imagery shown for the people he bullied, by the warden of the prison.

he is voted forgiven for his conscience, and i do not know when trial three is coming out so thats some of what has happened now. fun fact: fuuta is insecure about his appearance. we can see he consistently wears baggy clothing and layers, and he wears a face mask to cover his crooked teeth in trial one. in his first music video, we can see an idealized version of him, who is taller and has straighter teeth. the characters are also paired up for their themes with their crimes, and his pair, muu kusunoki, is notably considered pretty and was asked to be a model at least once, and the pairs are usually somewhat opposites.

hey <3. to my current understanding, shadow work and light work are just terms used to express a process of integrating the opposing sides of a persons self and life experiences. i personally think they are one and the same because the line between them is so blurred. if something 'negative' is being addressed people usually call it shadow work, but imo thats a mistake because ones shadow is just what is concealed from a persons immediate consciousness (thus it resides in their subconscious and is usually suppressed. when it does reveal itself it either erupts or emerges in covert, ugly or undesirable ways). that said, a persons most noble traits also reside in their shadow. someone shy may be concealing aspects of themselves that are bold, outspoken, even rambunctious. usually they conceal it cause of social expectation, social conditioning, or because of some past experience where their shadow trait led them to have a negative experience. similarly, someone loud and comedic may actually have an unassuming, reserved, introverted quality that they keep hidden because people seem to prefer their extraverted louder than life personality and now, in a bid to be loved and experience the affection of others, they act up to their loudness to get their need for attention or affection met.

those are both made up examples. but they serve to detail first the nature of the shadow, and then how to work on it. the cheapest and easiest way to identify your shadow is to sit still with yourself and see what thoughts and emotions or memories arise. the ones that bother you, point you directly to what you need to address. then part two is excavating your own personal truth about the experience, and either getting to the root of why it came to be, or why you perceive yourself and or the trait as you do.usually its hard because you have to face a fear, and a false misconception youve held as truth. humans can be egotistical and like to believe theyre right. its hard to challenge our beliefs, and our conditioning because we may have to face our flaws, hypocrisies, that rhe thing we thought was inherently negative is actually a strength or a positive, and all the mistakes weve made as a consequence of seeing things incorrectly. we also have to break down our social or self imposed conditioning tied to our beliefs which can cause us to question people or circumstances were attached to. even habits were attached to. think emotional eating, relationships to money, to work, to drug use or recreational activities previously associated to fun, our relationships and their dynamics, even how we treat and perceive ourselves. as the shadow work changes you, it changes your life and who you show up as, which is the hard part. its easy to acknowledge your secret self in private but allowing the fruit of your discovery to emerge publicly takes inner power. — ive listed so many resources over the years. what comes to mind is robert a johnson (he has loads of books even one directly on the shadow) and teal swans videos on youtube. hope this helped. sending love <3

i always found the concept of games blurring/censoring gore and death WAYYY more disturbing than just showing the actual thing, especially when layered over the face. the absence of something so distinct and defining. the presence of a simple jarring black box where there should be someone you once knew. you know whats supposed to be there, but it just. isnt. it makes you feel like you werent supposed to see it

anyways heres some adventures from the day

i had to create a Little Guy in another artists style so i quickly made this mizuiyama chibi and clicked one button and. this happened. i cant recreate this no matter how hard i try. it took up the ENTIRE DAMN PASTEBOARD and made my computer lag

when taking the photos me and 'mahiru' (not using their real name for privacy) went out into the hallway and i tried to say "lets do a photoshoot" and "take photos of me" at the same time. but instead i looked them dead in the eyes and said "shoot me."

dont tell 'natsumi' this but the original plan was yui/licorne/kyoko but she started singing the usa national anthem for some fucking reason and i changed it up at the last second because i wanted an excuse to beat her on her big head.... someone brought a giant bento box in a very conveniently-swingable bag and when i tell you that shit was CALLING to me like the green goblin mask..

theres some event going on where students were supposed to be characters and one of our classmates was a teletubby and since we were some of the only people dressed up for the occasion it looked a bit like this

no joke when i walked in NOBODY was being cool then suddenly i saw TWO PEOPLE COSPLAYING PIECES OF TOAST. JUST. GIANT BROWN SQUARES. RUNNING DOWN THE HALLWAY. GIGGLING. a few other people in the design program were dressed as stitch and someone came up to them and said "i used to be scared of you little shits"

even tho this is "cringe" or whatever 1) we all die in the end so be free 2) i only get to see them for a few hours a week so we had to embrace this. also i was stranded at the school for over half an hour after this in the freezing cold whoopsies. i did have a little scare when a police car pulled up and i thought they got my ass for something i didnt even know i did

october 2nd 2024: some code stuff

preacher: the original idea behind "APRIL" was that she would be able to pull up word strings from the templeOS god word app on command – this was supposed to be her primary/only function.

we're going to put up a post on templeOS later because it's completely fascinating and i've been obsessed with it for a while, but for now what's important to know is that due to some decompiler issues, it's not really possible to run templeOS on the raspberry pi which is the computer that we are using. scott's here to explain this at length – find a detailed technical explanation below the cut.

scott: Initially I was gonna start coding the whole program in Python starting with the godword random prophecy function. But then after looking into how the original godword program worked on the og TempleOS worked, with FIFO (First-in-First-out) queues, of which I was pretty unfamiliar with, I decided to code the bulk in C because I know C a lot more than Python and the queues seemed easier to implement in C. Pi allows both Python and C coding languages naturally anyways so why not.

The original TempleOS was written in a variation of the C/C++ language called HolyC by Terry A. Davis who wrote the language variant and compiler himself. Because of this, it's hard to decompile it manually to look at source code, or to run it on certain machines. Because of this I couldn't run the actual godword program or TempleOS on the raspberry pi so I knew I was gonna have to recreate the godword function as close as I could (which I initially called "heresyword" lol). After some research, I found one of the only breakdowns of how TempleOS worked by Xe Iaso [1].* They have such a good breakdown of the whole operating system thats really context inclusive and even includes extracts from Terry Davis' actual comments on how TempleOS works which are really hard to interpret actually. * (preacher: btw, i highly recommend everyone read this link. it really does a great job of explaining everything and once again, templeOS is endlessly fascinating so i think it's really worth the read. see the picture below for an example)

So from Xe's blog I found that TempleOS has a public global class called "God" that is used in several areas of the operating system. For godword it loads all words from the database Happy.txt into a separate array and then uses random entropy bits from several areas, including an "internal microsecond stopwatch" and data form keypresses, to choose random words from the word variable and loads them into a FIFO queue, printing them one by one when needed. I was initially gonna recreate this FIFO queue and all these random entropy bits but decided it to be too much complicated work for little result so just decided to generate random words from the Happy.txt using the cpu clock for entropy and save them to a separate .txt file to be called and read later on, acting in place of the queue system.

Sidenote: Xe's blog also had the Happy.txt file which was really useful and which I also realised was just every single word from the King James Bible.

ok so like, infinite. right?

so we are coming up to the release of SXSG and i want to talk about this guy, cus he might be in it. I talked about this very topic on a different thred and twitter.

I went to go read the comic, read the song lyrics, and watch all the cutsenes (i haven't played forces). Studying* all of this leads me to one conclusion. they forgot to make it all connect.

so like squad jackal, they look like they could be family since they look so similar (fir and eye colour) but that is mostly just speculation. even so i think he does care about them (keep this in mind) and he likes them.

i feel like he wants them to have a better life and hes a little sick of this life. (even though he wants to be the ultimate mercenary ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) and thats his motivation some lyrics in his theme even point to this "When everything you know has come and gone (You are at your lowest, I am rising higher) Only scars remain of who I was (What I find in the ashes, you lose in the fire) When there's no one left to carry on (This is an illusion, open up your eyes, and) This pain persists, I can't resist But that's what it takes to be infinite"

"'Cause if you're messing with me I am a dangerous weapon I am the sharpest of blades I'll cut you down in a second 'Cause I was born in this pain It only hurts if you let it So if you think you can take me Then you should go and forget it"

but here is the problem. In the game he seems like nothing other then "i want to rule the world cus evil" there's some dialog saying that his whole squad was k!lled and he get orders from egg man to go take out shadow who just took out squad jackal.

but now he has no motivation, like you would think hed want to kale shadow but he doesn't really do that, its mostly just kida floating around breaking all the phantom ruby prototypes. and yeah he could recreate squad jackal with the ruby but they wouldn't have like a soul so i dont think hed so that.

and yaknow that one part were shadow calls him weak? yeah that left a bad taste in everyone's mouth just thinking doesn't like being called weak and thinks hes strong. But the context is so bad thanks to the righting. none picked up on the fact that HIS WHOLE SQAUD WAS JUST KILED BY SHADOW, AND CALLED USELESS.

he doesn't sound (or even look) very sad but i don't think he would be a sopping mess of tears for anything.

Alright i should have said in the start that i suck at righting on the fly, but im going to try to tie all my points together.

First, infinite was very likely born into life of killing and being a nomad. second, he has been doing this a while and has grown sick of this life. third, he wants a better life for himself and his squad so he can be the ultimate mercenary without having too worry about being forced to do it. fourth, the people he wanted a better life for are all dwead thanks to shadow, and now he has to go and face shadow not in the right head space to do so or be prepared for a teleporting hedgehog who is the ultimate lifeform. and now he puts a mask and a very powerful rock. to get revenge (even tho he doesnt really go after shadow idk man¯\_(ツ)_/¯).

follow all that? yeah the game explains nearly NON of this to the player. in base forces infinite is just generically evil and wants to rule the world with or without egg man. in episode shadow, hes treated like a joke who hates being called weak. yeah squad jackal is mentioned but the player knows nothing about who they are just that infinite is there leader.

i feel like infinite is and can be good but they just didn't make him good just put a bunch of things that WOULD make him good but didn't put it together.
