oh wow... what a journey this has been. i can't believe this was supposed to be a short little spinoff to crush culture, at the time i did not expect it to grow into something this huge. it has been such a pleasure to write gy and yy's growth, both as individuals and with regard to their relationship. it's going to be tough to no longer write for them, i'm going to miss them a lot. not just gy3 but the band and the council too, and the little moments of relief that they provide.
thank you for joining me on this rollercoaster ride. i would love to know what you think, especially now that this series has ended. it's almost 10 pm here and i'm still battling a little cold, but i was too excited to wait until tomorrow to post hehe. hope you're all doing well and taking care <3 until the next one, my dear readers.

just you and me, alone in the dark

wc : 3.8k

desc : Leon’s back in town, that couldn’t be too hard on the gigantic crush you have on your best friend, right? friends to lovers, smut!! - unprotected p in v, little bit of fingering. not proofread, fem!reader, post re2r!Leon
Leon was back home for one week this summer, he’s been a cop in Raccoon City for almost a year now, the two of you have been calling and writing each other, trying to keep up with each others lives, but it’s nothing like being face-to-face again. You’ve been hosting him at your house for the past few days, Leon’s been going to catch up with a few other friends, but he’s always back at your place by at least midnight.
It wasn’t like when you were kids. Some of your friends had moved away, that arcade a mile or two away that you and Leon would always walk to had closed down and was now a fancy restaurant, the old lady who ran the laundromat and would give the two of you quarters for the arcade games had passed away. But your crush on Leon had stayed, maybe even grew a bit. The two of you had been changing bit by bit, too. Leon was a big city cop now, and compared to him, you felt like the friend who went to college and immediately ran back home.
Leon’s always been handsome to you, but since leaving for the academy and becoming an actual cop, he looks more grown-up. Seeing him in the mornings, his hair all messy and still half-asleep, was proving to be a problem. Along with when the two of you would watch movies at night, sitting shoulder-to-shoulder, sharing whatever food you were eating like you did when you were kids.
You’re starting to think that Leon might like you back.
You catch the way his eyes follow you when you walk through the house with wet hair, damp skin, and clothes that cling to your skin just a bit more after you get out of the shower. Or how he scoots closer to you when you both sit down together. Especially when he accidentally hugged you goodnight the second night he was over and pulled away with a red face. Not that you really mind being close to him, or his attraction to you.
Anyway, Leon’s leaving in two days, and the two of you are going camping for the night.
It’s not gonna be anything crazy, the two of you weren’t much for setting up tents and rocky roads riddled with pot-holes and roadkill. You’re staying the night at a smaller campground, there’s a lake, a playground for any kids there, and a camp store. There’s no need to bring a tent unless you’ve got more than three people with you. Each campsite comes with a small shelter that can hold a few people, each shelter has three walls and a roof, the opening faces the site.
Leon and you would come here with your family when you were kids, it was only an hour away from where you lived, the two of you wanted something a bit more fun to do than sit around at your house or go to dinner.
Leon hasn’t gone camping since before he left for the police academy, not that what the two of you are doing is anything difficult. But there’s no hotdogs cooked over the fire, just a pizza you had picked up a few hours ago and s’mores.
There’s chocolate around Leon’s lips as he chews on his s’more, yours goes ignored for a few minutes as you stare at him. The fire in front of you is low, you and Leon face it and lean back against the table part of the wooden bench, your knees knocking together.
“I know I got shit on my face.” He says to you, turning to look at you as he licks the marshmallow off of his fingers.
You smile at him and shake your head softly, taking a small bite of your s’more. “I’m just looking at you.” Leon only giggles, wiping his mouth with his palm.
“You’ve had plenty of time to look at me.”
“I know that, doesn’t mean I have to stop. And besides, you look at me all the time.”
“Yeah, that’s because I’m talking to you, you just stare at me sometimes.”
“Because I missed you terribly, and I’m happy to have you back home.” You joke a little bit, finishing off the dessert in your hand. “I’m still gonna miss you when you go back to the city.”
“Well, maybe you wouldn’t miss me so much if you came to visit every once-in-a-while. You know it wouldn’t kill you to drive three hours to see me. You’d like the city, anyway.” Leon scooted even closer to you and nudged your shoulder with his, still keeping his eyes on you.
“I know, I know. Just goddamn, I don’t get why you couldn’t have been a local sheriff or deputy or some shit. You could give me parking tickets everyday.” You laugh, his smile drops a little.
“Raccoon City is as good as it gets for me, I could give you parking tickets everyday of the year if you lived there.”
You drop a hand to his knee, squeezing it gently and leaning in closer to him. “Hey, I wasn’t trying to be mean. I know the city’s a big deal for you, and I’m really, really happy for you. You worked really hard.”
“You flatter me,” Leon’s smile brightened a bit again, your heart fluttered. “You haven’t seen me in action yet.”
“Yeah? And what exactly is ‘action’ for you? Helping old ladies cross the street? Maybe pulling someone over for speeding?” You chuckle, letting go of his knee and pushing against him.
“God, when did you get so mean?” Leon snickered and rolled his eyes, grabbing your bicep and pushing you away from him.
“Oh, come on, I’m supposed to be mean to you, that’s what best friends do. You’ve never complained before.”
“Yeah, you complain constantly when I do it.”
“Because boys aren’t supposed to be mean to girls. That’s the rule, aren’t you supposed to know all the rules, officer?”
“Don’t call me that!” Leon laughs, pushing you further away. “Listen, just- just come over. I just wanna see you, even if it’s for a couple of hours. I miss you a lot.”
You can feel your heart clench a little at his words. You know he means it, he’s always tried to come over and visit when he was able to, even when he was in the academy. You just didn’t want to be a bother to him, he’s living his dream, and you don’t want to get in the way of it.
“I’ll try, I promise. Maybe I can come over for a weekend in September.”
“Good, I’ll hold you to it. I was starting to think you didn’t like me anymore.” He jested, turning his gaze to the fire that was almost completely gone now.
“Jesus, don’t say that. I’ll always like you.”
That caught him off guard a little bit, you watched as his cheeks turned red and how his Adam’s apple bobbed in his throat as he swallowed.
“That- that’s good.”
You smile at him, scooting closer once again and bringing your hand to rest on his shoulder to shake him gently. “Don’t forget it.” There’s a pause. Leon looks back up to you from the fire, his eyes bore into yours for a few long seconds before they trail down to your lips. It doesn’t go unnoticed. “Let’s go to the lake, it’s fun to swim when it’s getting dark.”
—
Leon had raced you back to your campsite three hours later and won. It was dark now, nearing eleven p.m., the fire was now completely out and all the other campers were asleep. The campground is illuminated by streetlights placed sparingly along the road, you can hardly see anything on your site besides your car and the outside of your shelter.
The lake had been fun, it was different from when you’d come here together a decade ago and push each other off the dock and into the water, but it was fun in a new kind of way. Luckily, there weren’t many people there due to the late hour, not that either of you would’ve really stopped even if it had been packed. Yours and Leon’s swimsuits cling to your skin, you probably would’ve run the race, but once he got in front of you you couldn’t tear your gaze away from the way his back muscles looked when they were wet.
“Fuck, I didn’t set up my air mattress.” You chuckle as you follow Leon into your campsites shelter, shuffling your bare feet along the ground to try to keep yourself from tripping.
“Well, hurry up then.” He giggles but waves you off, his back turned to you as he runs his towel over his wet hair once again. You scoff at him half-heartedly, turning away and going to get your air mattress out of the trunk of your car.
You discover that Leon’s air mattress is bigger than yours once you finally pull it back into the shelter and lay it down next to his. The air-pump is already attached to the nozzle, Leon sits at the bench and watches as you try to inflate the mattress.
“This isn’t working,” You groan, rising up from your squatting position and letting go of the air-pump to shake your arms free of the strain. Leon just shrugs at you, you roll your eyes and squat down again, patting down the air mattress, looking for rips, and you find one that you can fit your entire fist inside. You groan again, more loudly this time. “My mattress is trashed, I don’t have tape or any patches that’ll fix this.”
Leon rises from his seat at the bench, stepping into the shelter along side you and looking down at your air mattress. “You can share with me.”
“Really? You sure?”
“Yeah, of course. I don’t mind, it’s probably gonna be a bit colder tonight, anyway.” Leon offers you a small smirk, offering a hand to you to help you stand up.
“Thanks,” You say as you take his hand, he pulls you to your feet, holding onto your hand for a second before he pulls away. The two of you put your hands on your hips at the same time, glancing around the site. “I gotta get changed.”
“Alright,”
“I don’t wanna walk all the way to the bathroom, though.” You sigh, Leon chuckles and looks towards you.
“You gonna change here?”
“Yeah,” You don’t miss how his face drops slightly, the color returning to his cheeks. “Can you hold the flashlight for me?”
“Wh-“ He cuts himself off when you reach for the hem of your wet shirt, already pulling it up over your head and revealing the one piece you wore underneath.
“You don’t gotta look at me, dumbass. Just hold it so I can see what I’m doing.” You don’t see Leon nod, but you see the bright flashlight turn on and shine against you. You drop your wet shirt to the ground and reach for the straps of your swimsuit, beginning to pull it down over your shoulders.
You make the mistake of glancing over at Leon, he hadn’t turned away in the slightest, his gaze was locked onto you like it was absolutely necessary for him to watch you undress. Despite this, you don’t stop. You don’t know if he saw you look at him, but he keeps watching you as you begin to peel to wet swimsuit off your body.
He swallows thickly, his Adam’s apple goes up and down once again as he does so. The flashlight in his hand shakes slightly as you pull the swimsuit off your body completely.
Leon looks back up at your face for the first time and immediately winces, his free hand goes to his eyes as if to cover it and pretend he hadn’t seen you fully naked.
“Leon-“
“No, I-I’m sorry. You just- no, goddamnit, that was- shit, y-you’re just really pretty and I-I get it if you’re mad.“ His apology stumbles out of his mouth, his face is even more flushed and his hand that he had moved to cover his eyes now runs through his damp hair. You trail your eyes up and down his body, unsure where to focus, but your gaze keeps landing on the tent forming in his swim trunks.
“I’m not mad.”
“… S-Seriously?” Leon’s gaze meets yours again, he looks a little dumbfounded and awestruck, you can’t help but grin at him.
“No.”
“Oh,” He chuckles awkwardly, clearing his throat and looking down at his feet. “This is just k-kinda embarrassing.”
“… Sorry.” You mumble, looking from him out at the dark campsite.
“What? No- don’t apologize. You just look pretty, I mean, you’ve always been really fucking pretty and I’m just looking at you like- God, I don’t even know. Just don’t apologize.”
“Thanks,” You look back at him, you can’t help the smile on your face when he calls you pretty.
“I mean it, I’ve thought you were the prettiest since like, high school.”
“Actually?”
“Yeah. I don’t wanna sound weird or anything, but I’ve always kinda… liked you? Like, more than a-a friend. And I’m sorry for telling you this when you’re naked in front of me, I just-“ You don’t let Leon finish his sentence, shutting him up with a kiss instead of letting him get his thoughts out.
He melts against you almost instantly, his hands finding their way to your hips as the flashlight is discarded onto the floor. Your hands anchor themselves in his hair, keeping his head in place as the kiss goes on for another five seconds before the two of you split apart for air.
“I should’ve asked, I’m sorry-“ Your own apology is cut short when Leon pulls you against him even closer, kissing you again but only for two seconds.
“I told you not to say sorry.” You smile at him, your hands moving from his hair to the back of his neck. Before you can even stop yourself, your lips attach themselves to his neck, kissing and sucking along the skin you find there.
Leon groans, his fingers dig into the flesh of your hips as his head tilts back to give you more skin to work with, which you happily accept. Your hands move again, this time going from his neck to graze over his bare chest. Leon takes that as a sign to move his hands, leaving your hips to grip just underneath your ass. You giggle and push yourself up against him more, he gives a soft chuckle in response.
“This okay with you?” He asks, one hand moves up to cup your ass and squeeze it gently.
“Yeah, it’d be better if we weren’t standing, though.” You pull away from him, his grip on you loosens as he takes your hint and sits himself on the ground at the foot of his air mattress.
You wanted to straddle his lap, but when you lower yourself down to do so, Leon grabs hold of your hips once again and flips you so the upper half of your back rests on top of his air mattress as he hovers over you. He kisses you again, this time tracing the seam of your lips with his tongue to ask for entry. That doesn’t take any negotiation for you, his tongue meets yours, your arms find their way around his neck as he lowers himself down on top of you more, your breasts pressing against his chest.
“We need to be quiet,” You whisper to him once you pull away from his lips.
“Everyone’s asleep by now, and there’s only like, two other campsites near us.” He chuckles slightly, pulling back a few inches to get a better look at you.
“Leon.” You scold quietly, his chuckle turns into a snicker as his hands find their ways up to your breasts.
“Okay, okay,” Leon shakes his head slightly as he brushes his thumbs over your nipples. “Don’t ruin my fun just yet, I’ve been wanting to do this for years.”
“Have you now?” Your arms kissed around his neck, you push yourself further into his touch.
“You’ve got no idea,” He looks up from where your tits rest in his hands to your face, leaning in to kiss you again. The kiss goes on for what feels like thirty minutes before one of your arms unwraps itself from his neck and goes down to the hem of his swim trunks, you tug on it lightly.
Leon pulls back to look at you, his hands leave your breasts to rest on your thighs. The teasing smile on his face is gone, now replaced with a look of concern.
“You’re absolutely sure you’re okay with this?”
“Absolutely.” You smile at him, you cup his face in your hands and give him a small peck on the lips, feeling him smile against your mouth as his hands leave your thighs to pull down his trunks. Leon’s hands are back on you two seconds later, dipping in between your thighs to run his fingers through your slick folds.
“Fuck,” He murmurs, leaning his head down to press kisses to your cheek as his thumb presses against your clit, gently probing against your entrance with his middle finger. You whine softly, it only seems to spur him on, he gently pushes his finger inside you, continuing the soft amount of pressure on your clit. “You’re really pretty.”
“You keep saying that.” You giggle a little bit, your hands move to rest on his shoulders as your head tips to the right.
“Because I mean it.” You’re not sure why he groans, but he does once his finger slides deeper inside of you. “I missed you so much, I didn’t think that this was gonna happen when I came back to town, but I’m so happy it is.”
“M-Me too,” You agree a bit breathlessly, Leon’s kisses trail down to your throat as his pointer finger slowly joins his middle finger. You’re not even really sure how to feel right now, you’ve been craving this for so long, maybe not in a campground with a shelter that hardly concealed any noise, but you really hoped that this wasn’t going to be where things ended for you and Leon.
Leon’s kisses turns into gentle bites as his ministrations continue and the pressure on your clit increases. You bite down on your lip, trying to not let yourself get too loud, but the noises that do slip past your lips, Leon responds to with his own.
“Leon, please.” Your small whimper makes him stop, his fingers come to a halt inside you and he pulls back again to look down at your face.
“You sure?” You only close your eyes and nod, your nails dig into the skin of his shoulders as you wait. “Okay, I got you, I- I’m gonna be gentle.”
His fingers slip out of you, you whine quietly at the loss, earning a tiny snort from him as he pulls back to sit on his knees, keeping one hand attached to your thigh, longing himself up with your entrance. Leon pushes in slowly, watching your face and how your mouth falls open at the intrusion. He lets you adjust for maybe fifteen seconds before he starts moving slowly, keeping one hand on your thigh and slipping the other underneath your back to hold you up a bit.
“Holy shit, you feel s-so good.” He mumbles to you, biting down on his own lip to keep his groans from getting too loud. You nod, unable to find any words to respond with while you begin rocking your hips gently to try and meet his movements.
Leon’s thrusts don’t get much faster than this, he’s trying his best to be gentle and quiet, you’re sure it would be a different story if you were back home. You let your whines get a bit louder as you let the feeling of him pushing in and out of you take over, the soft squelching noises don’t help.
Your hands roam over his chest and shoulders as he continues on for the next few minutes. You can’t make any complaints, you’re sure he can’t, either.
His hand that had been on your thigh had left to trail in between once again, finding your clit and circling it, letting strained pants and whimpers fall from his lips as he hovered above you. Neither of you can find words to say to each other, too focused on how the both of you feel as you move together.
After a few more minutes, the feeling coiling up in your lower abdomen is beginning to become unbearable. “L-Leon, mm fuck- Leon, ‘M gonna-“
“It’s okay, ‘M not gonna stop just y-yet.” Only then does his hips snap forward a bit harder, determined to push you over the edge.
The moan you let out when you came was louder than any other noises you had made that night, Leon seemed to appreciate it, you could tell by the grin that grew on his face as you began to calm down, not that he stopped moving. He pulled out before he came, instead, cumming on the shelter floor and your thighs, you couldn’t say that it bugged you.
The two of you laid there for maybe five minutes, trying to catch your breath as you pressed kisses against each others skin. The floor was a mess but Leon only focused on wiping his release off of you, a stupid smile was painted on his face as he did so.
After the two of you went to piss on separate sides of the site, you met back up in the shelter and actually got dressed this time around. Leon didn’t push you away when you crawled onto his air mattress with him, and he was more than happy to wrap his arms around you and share his blanket with you. Your hands rested on his shoulder blades, head pressed against his chest, listening to his heartbeat and feeling the rise and fall of his chest. One of his hands was in your hair and the other rested on the small of your back, holding you close to him.
“I don’t… want to leave you just yet.” He said quietly.
“We’ve got a couple more days.”
“No, I know. What I mean is I- I want you to come to the city with me. Just for a few days. I just wanna figure things out between us because I think there’s a lot we should probably discuss and I just really, really don’t want things to end here.” Leon’s voice was a bit louder, you could hear the slight tremble in his words as he spoke, but you didn’t look up at him.
“Would you really be okay with me coming over?”
“All I want is for you to come over. Please.”
“Alright,” You smile against his chest, closing your eyes. “Just don’t keep me waiting with your fancy job.”
“I’m sure my bosses would understand me needing to put a few things on hold for my dream girl.”

Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better (M)
★ PAIRING: Academic rival!Haechan x afab/fem!reader
☆ WORD COUNT: 4.8k
★ GENRE(S): Smut, E2lover, Rival2lovers
☆ SUMMARY: Haechan and you have never gotten along, and your friend group is sick of it, so they make a bet that the two of you can't ignore. When put to the test, will your hatred for each other still stand?
★ ☆ WARNINGS: 18+, minors do not interact, Meandom! Haechan, aphrodisiac drug, mentions of drinking, sexual bet, sexual intercourse, swearing, unprotected sex, creampie, Haechan being mean, lowkey forgot what I wrote, so just BEWARE.
☆★ NOTES: Yuh! This idea has been stuck in my head for a while. Another saga of me failing the Don't write another hate2love challenge! FYI, I'm not a writer; I'm just a person who writes occasionally. Lovers in e2l not found more of a fuck buddy type relationship. Anyway I just wanted to say thanks for the support on my other fics. I don't usually write that often but the good feedback encourages me.
At this point, your friends were getting tired of it. You two were constantly at each other's throats. They initially believed you could'nt stand one another, but recently, the atmosphere in the room after your shouting matches was too intense to be fueled solely by animosity. The flames behind your eyes burned too brightly for them to be caused by resentment alone. They used to hold you back from lunging at him, but now they wondered what would really happen if you got your hands on him.
Haechan and you had known each other since middle school. You two shared a lot of the same classes, and unfortunately, you both had parents who expected you to excel in school. You were always trying to one-up each other or stamp out the other's resolve. Your relationship was rocky from the start, and even if you two weren't fighting for the top spot, you doubt you would find him likable.
Haechan was a natural at everything. He didn't have to try very hard to be the best; he just got it. On the other hand, despite spending hours studying, you could just barely match his performance. You were jealous of how easy he made it look. The fact that he would flaunt his success in your face didn't help.
“Can't keep up?” He would say after outperforming you on the final exam by 10 points, he had that same smirk that seemed permanently etched onto his face on full display. You had spent days preparing for the test, even skipping a few hours of sleep. Haechan never studied; the most he ever did to prepare for an exam was to quickly skim the material a few hours before the test. Even then, he would still ace it.
You expected to grow up and put the rivalry behind yourselves during high school, but he would jump at any chance to make you look like an idiot. You could say the sky was blue, and he would argue that it was actually the reflection of the ocean that gave the sky the illusion of being blue. Back in middle school, you limited all interactions with him for your own sanity. However, in high school, he somehow managed to join your friend group, so you were forced to endure him during hangouts. You eventually got used to his presence and the non-stop teasing. It wasn't until you received your acceptance letter to the college you would be attending with your friends that you thought you would finally be free from him. Haechan's parents had wanted him to go to a college that was 4 hours away from your hometown, and you counted down the days until graduation.
Luck was never on your side.
Due to Haecahan's tendency to put things off, he wasn't able to submit his application in time, and as the school was very competitive, the available spots quickly filled up. Luckily for him, your college had an extended application process, which allowed him to send it in late, and he was accepted. Now here you are two years into college, and Haechan is still insufferable.
You two were on two completely different career tracks, so your classes never overlapped, so at least you stopped fighting about grades. Being at the top doesn't matter to you anymore, anyway. You hated the pressure that your parents put on you growing up. Before, you would have had a heart attack if you saw a B, but now you just shrug them off. Even still, all you two do is just have petty arguments because that's all you have ever done.
“You would not be able to see an explosion in space; it's a vacuum; fire can't exist.”
"Well, I've seen Star Wars, so I think that proves my point.”
“That's Fiction! You know, like the idea of you having a brain,” you roll your eyes.
“Almost like your sense of humor? I was joking. Of course I know that I took astronomy before you," he smirks.
He was constantly trying to get under your skin. You take a long breath and try to calm yourself down. "Well, yeah, because I took a different science asshole." Your friends say it's because you always give him a reaction, but you hate being wrong. You had to get the last word, especially against know-it-alls like him.
Despite your complaints, he isn't entirely horrible. On the days that you two aren't arguing, he's making you laugh so hard that you practically fall over. He's not a complete jerk all the time; it's just that once you two get started, it's hard to stop.
“Oh please, can you two cut it out? You have either had too much alcohol or not enough if you can still think about arguing,” your friend Johnny slurs.
It's Saturday night, and you have just finished off an exhausting exam week. Your friends felt a celebration was in order to wind down from the trying week. Now the only thing trying was Haechan testing your patience. You're at Johnny's house, and everyone is spread out around his spacious living room, bottles of alcohol scattered several surfaces. Johnny’s family was well off, and he lived off campus in one of the few estates that his family owned. The house had two stories and a pool in the backyard. On the weekends, you would spend the most of your time here.
“You're right I came here to relax, not burst a blood vessel.” You sigh and take a seat next to Johnny on the couch. You take a couple sips from whichever unopened can of cheap alcohol is nearby. Even though you could already sense a buzz coming on, it needed to hit harder if you were going to have to deal with Haechan all night.
Hyuck chuckled and found a spot on the carpeted floor. "Sorry, the princess just seemed like her day was going too well; I had to ruin it a little," he said.
Your friend Yuna raised an eyebrow in his direction and smirked as she took another sip of her drink. “For you to hate her so much, you sure do spend a lot of time thinking about her.”
“One point Yuna, '' you smile at your friend's rebuttal. Arguing with Haechan could be tiring, but your roommate always had your back.
“I think you two just need to hug it out... in a room... alone,” your other friend Mark joked.
You dryly laugh, "So funny."
“You scared?” Hyuck says with a wicked grin. He leans back on one arm as he sips on his drink, still eyeing you confidently. It's at times like these that you betray yourself the most. He looks so good with his light brown hair framing his face; it's grown so long now that it covers his eyes if he doesn't push it back. The alcohol must be hitting because now all you can imagine is pulling on the soft brown locks and not out of anger. You must have taken too long to reply, because now he's raising an eyebrow at you.
“I wouldn't want to be alone with you even if you were the last person on earth."
Johnny cuts off Haechan's response before he can start. "Want to test that theory?"
Questions run through everyone's mind as you all turn to look at Johnny after his outburst.
“What, are you gonna kill us or something?” Haechan responds wearily.
"No, but I should, with the headache you have given me.”
“So…?” You urge him to continue.
"You two keep saying how much you can't stand each other, so how about we put that to the test?" Johnny closes with a sinister grin.
“I feel like you're gonna say something really stupid next." Mark comments
Johnny ushers your other friends into a huddle and tries his best to whisper in his drunken state.
"Guys, just hear me out? We can all feel the tension between these two. They clearly need to fuck or something, so how about we help them along so we don't have to deal with them trying to tear each other apart?”
“How would we do that?”
“We can hear you, and I am NOT fucking him."
“Oh come on, we see the way you two look at each other; you're both just too stubborn to realize it.”
"Hyuck, don't just sit there; help me out here!" you plead
“They have a point, though; you do want to fuck me,” he confidently adds.
"Please, you would be lucky enough if I poked you with a stick,” you say in distaste.
“Order! Order!” Johnny slurs, "Look, I have a way for you both to prove yourselves,” using his beer can as a makeshift gavel.
“Yeah, where were you even going with all of this? Man get to the point,” Mark mutters as he gets comfortable on the sofa.
“"What if you two take an aphrodisiac together and try not to touch each other? If you can last, then you two will win and show everyone how much you despise one another."
The room is silent when Johnny finishes pitching his idea. You think he definitely had one too many drinks tonight. What kind of plan was this? There was no way in hell you would go along with ANY of Johnny's half-baked ideas, but this one was especially crazy. You were just about to shoot down the idea when another voice interrupted you.
“I'm down. What? You can't stand the idea of keeping your hands off me?” Haechan grumbles upon seeing your reaction.
“what? I was just thinking this is stupid. What do I even get out of this? I don't care what you people think,” you huff.
“How about I give you each $500 if you win?”
“Do you-” you start.
“AND Mark does your homework for 2 weeks.”
“Hey! I didn't-” mark says
“AND Yuna does your share of the chores at your dorm.”
“WHA-!” yuna argues
"Deal," you quickly say before anyone can finish their complaints.
"Dude, this is not what we discussed,” Mark complains. Johnny whispers to him about something, and he perks up a little as Johnny makes him a promise. "Fine"
Johnny lays down the rules for you two. You and Haechan will both take an aphrodisiac pill and be restricted to the upstairs bedroom. You’ll have to stay in the room with each other for 3 hours, and if you two can withstand the 3 hours without touching each other, you win. If you lose, you both have agreed to play nice with each other or at least around other people.
As soon as you both take the pink pill, Johnny starts the timer. You make your way up the stairs to the bedroom, where you often crash on the weekends. This was definitely not how you thought you would be spending the weekend.
“We’ll come knocking when the time’s up! Yuna yells from downstairs.
You pout playfully and mock her from over the railing of the stairs. She was supposed to be the reasonable one.
“Oh real mature,” Haechan chuckles as he shuffles past you up the stairs. The staircase was really narrow, and you could practically feel his body heat against you as he went. The pills' effects haven't even fully settled in yet, and you're already feeling things you shouldn't. If you were planning on winning, you would have to get it together. Maybe this wasn't as easy as you thought.
As you make your way up the remaining stairs, you see Haechan standing by the door frame, waiting for you. He rolls his eyes. "You're stalling."
You murmur under your breath, "I'll literally give you my half of the money if you shut up for the next three hours," but drag yourself into the room nevertheless.
⋅───⊱༺ ♰ ༻⊰───⋅⋅───⊱༺ ♰ ༻⊰───⋅
The first 20 minutes aren't terrible. You guys make yourselves comfortable on opposite sides of the room and pick a random wall to stare at. As Haechan makes himself comfortable on the room's lone bed, you take a seat on a little bench that lines a sizable window. You're grateful he keeps his mouth shut. This was probably the longest you two have been in each other's presence without speaking.
It wasn't until about 30 minutes in that the effect hit you. Your breathing grew labored, and your blood started to flow through your veins more quickly. Your body started to heat up. To cool down, you placed your face on the window, breathing fogging the glass. When you looked up to see how Haechan was fairing, he was already looking at you with heavy-lidded eyes as his chest expanded with each deep inhale.
As much as he got on your last nerve, you had always thought he was attractive. His tan honey skin that glowed in the sunlight, his pretty moles that you would kill to kiss, and his gorgeous eyes that always made your heart beat just a little harder when he would glare at you whenever you hit a nerve. You loved seeing him worked up, but the few moments you got to see him when he was happy were moments you stored deep in the vault of your heart. You hated him; there was no time for admiring him.
You tried to shove those thoughts away, but It was as though all the thoughts you had been working so hard to suppress had suddenly surfaced. All you could think about was his plump lips and how they would feel on your body. How his fingers would feel encircling your throat, pressing the chilly rings that decorated his hands against your skin. His golden locks flowing through your fingers as you hold him close. You couldn't resist licking your lips at the idea.
“Don't fucking do that,” he abruptly spoke. He closes his eyes and takes a shaky breath. He spreads his legs further, trying to get comfortable in his spot across the room.
You try to fight the urge, but your eyes travel down his body to the bulge in his sweats. You immediately cross your legs at the sight. You had to clutch onto the pillows of the seat you were in; otherwise, you don't think you could stop yourself from crossing the room in a heartbeat.
“What? Can't handle it hyuckie?” You coo at him, using the old nickname you haven't called him since middle school. You had to find some ground in this setting. You couldn't let him see how weak he was making you.
"Out of all the times you pick to be a brat, now is not the time," he grumbles mockingly.
“Why? Am I getting on your nerves? Hmm, I could only wonder what that must feel like,” you sneered. You were so horny, it's pissing you off. You decide Haechan can use a taste of his own medicine, and what better way to blow off steam than to get under his skin?
“Maybe they were right. Maybe you do need a good fuck for you to lose the attitude.”
“Shut the fuck up.”
"Careful," he smirks, licking his lips.
You know that look; he's testing you. He's daring you to say something else.
"That's what I thought," he says, closing his eyes and attempting to control his breathing.
⋅───⊱༺ ♰ ༻⊰───⋅⋅───⊱༺ ♰ ༻⊰───⋅
You're about an hour in, and you can't take it any longer; you're practically rutting against the seam of your jeans, hoping for some kind of friction.
"Please, I can't do this anymore," you cry out for air. You turn to face him, but he doesn't answer. His eyes are closed, and his brows are drawn together as if he's in pain.
“Haechan!” You scream again; this time he slowly opens his eyes, and you suck in a breath as your eyes meet. His pupils were completely blown as sweat pricked his brow.
“Are you giving up?"
You nod in response.
“That's too bad; I still want to win,” he smirks lazily.
"Let's just forfeit; this is stupid!” You stand from where you were seated and head to the door. This prompts Haechan to finally move from his spot as he uses his long legs to cross the room in three wide strides. Before you can open the door, he stops you. For the first time since you two entered the room, he touches you. While keeping his body an arms' length away from you, he is shoving you up against the door by your shoulders. Your body is on fire at the mere touch, and you're grateful for the little bit of space he has given you.
“Calm down. Think this through,” he huffs as if out of breath. “just-just think of the money.”
“I don't care about this stupid bet! I feel like I'm going to explode,” you cry, fighting to escape his hold, but he just pins you back against the door.
“How about I take care of it then? Hmm?” He begs, never breaking eye contact. “I'll take the pain away, baby. Just work with me, yeah?"
"That defeats the point Haechan; we aren't supposed to touch each other; I thought you were smarter than that," you protest, growing increasingly frustrated.
“As long as you keep those gorgeous lips shut, nobody would ever know.” He slowly closes in on you as he speaks. “I help you out, and when we get out of this room, we pretend like nothing happened, and that we still can't stand each other, deal?” He's a breath away. The close proximity, the way he's practically breathing down your neck, and the look in his eyes that tells you he is only about 2 seconds away from devouring you were all you needed to go along with Haechan's scheme.
You stopped listening about halfway through anyway so you nodded mindlessly before closing the remaining space between the two of you. You're pushing off the door and pressing your body against his as you guide him towards the bed. Even though you can both feel your lungs starting to burn, neither of you has the strength to break the kiss. When his legs met the edge of the bed, he sat, giving you both time to regain your breath. He's resting back against his hands, looking up at you, and his legs are spread wide as if he were offering himself to you.
"Come on princess, take whatever you want from me," he smirks as you get into his lap and nestle down against the tent in his pants. You push him until his back is flush against the mattress, then mindlessly grind down on him. You use his chest to steady yourself as you throw your head back and drown in the feeling. You feel Haechan's hands gripping your waist and then traveling up your torso. His hands explored your body as you got lost in each other. Haechan sits up to meet your lips in another passionate kiss. As he deepens the kiss, he clutches your waist tightly to restrict your movements. You whine at the lack of stimulation, but all he can do is smile against your lips in return.
“Be patient baby; let me love on you.”
“This…was…not…a part of…the deal,” you try to finish as he lovingly pecks your lips.
"Didn't I tell you to keep your voice down? Shut up,” he says, ignoring your insistent whining, lavishing your face and neck in wet kisses. Any “loving” he was going to give vanished at your bratty behavior.
“Stop teasing, hyuck seriously. I think I'm going insane.”
You were on the verge of tears at this point; you needed him to give you some type of relief. That's exactly how he wanted you—desperate and needy—not like you already weren't, but he liked to push you to your limits.
“Lay down for me,” he says, releasing his grip on your hips and patting your thigh to signal you to get up. You swiftly move to lay on the bed, and you watch him as he pulls his shirt over his head and takes off his sweatpants, leaving him only in his underwear. He climbs the bed and helps you remove your jeans. As he's tugging the material down your thick thighs, you remove your shirt and bra. He settles between your legs, and you reflexively wrap your legs around his waist. He has to press his palm down against your lower stomach to stop you from grinding against him again.
"You promise to behave?" He prys your legs free from his waist, trapping them against your chest and restricting your movement.
You nod mindlessly, reaching out to grab him and trying to draw him into another kiss, but he pins your hands above your head, using his hips instead to further pin you down.
"Uh-uh princess, use your words," he adds coldly.
“Please hyuck, I promise I'll be good.”
“You going to be a good girl and keep that mouth shut?”
You were exhausted from having to use your brain to come up with a coherent response; you were at your limit. All you could think about was him filling you up, and every second he didn't, it felt like a year of your life span was shaved off. You did cry this time. You were so frustrated with him; he did this all the time. He never plays nice; he always makes you work for it.
"Oh you poor baby," he coos lovingly as he kisses your eyelids and wipes away your tears. "I'm sorry, but I have to hear you say it," he continues.
"I promise to be your good girl; I swear I won't make a sound, please," you sniffle, trying to hold back your tears.
“If I hear one sound, I'm stopping, and you can walk out of this room and finish yourself off, got it?”
You've learned to respond quickly when he asks you a question, so you nod your head with a "yes sir."
This makes Haechan smile wickedly. Who would have guessed that the same brat who walked into the room with him no less than an hour ago could be so obedient? He was definitely never letting you live this down when this was over. He finally decides to take pity on you, kisses down your body, and removes your panties. He threw your legs over his shoulders, and a quick kiss to your inner thigh was all the warning you got before he nuzzled his nose up against your clit as he licked into your entrance. He savored the taste with his tongue before licking up to your clit and sucking it into his mouth. The sounds his mouth made as he devoured you were wet and noisy as he slurped away at your essence.
You were fighting for your life above him. Reaching for a pillow that was just almost out of reach, you used it to smother your sounds. A sharp slap on your outer thigh served as a warning to keep your voice down. It was the only warning you were going to get. Soon the pillow is long forgotten as you gasp for air. Your thighs began to shake as you choked on your moans. Your back arches, and you can feel your eyes begin to roll. You were going to come, and you would have welcomed it with open arms any other time, but you knew how loud you could get. He was not letting up, and you knew if you came like this, you wouldn't be able to hold back the scream that's been dying to echo against the walls.
You try your best to fight it off. You frantically push at his head, begging him with your eyes as you trap your bottom lip between your teeth, trying to bite back moans. He shakes his head no, but the movement simply adds to the pleasure, and you're about to lose it. You try to get away from his mouth by shifting up the bed, but his powerful arms wrap around your thighs and pull you back down onto his mouth.
"Hae-" His look silences you, and your mouth hangs wide in a silent cry as you spasm on his tongue. It was the most intense orgasm you'd ever felt. Once he helps you ride out the wave, he kisses your pussy one more time before pulling away. As soon as he does, you snap your legs shut, still reeling from the orgasm. His face was practically dripping as he stared you down, hungry.
"Better?" he asks, brushing the back of his palm across his face.
"Mhm,” you reply, causing him to raise a brow, "better,” you quickly follow, using your voice.
Your eyes travel down his body until they reach what you’ve been craving for the most. Haechan was harder than you thought could even be possible. His tip was a furious shade of crimson, gleaming in precum.
"One more baby," he strokes his length before hissing and gripping the base. "Just be my good girl one more time," he begs.
You almost feel bad. The whole time he was teasing you, he was also teasing himself. You're amazed he's maintained this level of self-control up to this point.
“I don't know if I can keep quiet if we continue,” you plead.
“Open your mouth” is all he says as he prys your legs open and settles between them.
You comply, and Haechan shoves your panties into your mouth. You try to object, but he covers your mouth with his palm for added security.
"My turn," he grins before bottoming out inside you. The first few strokes are so deep, you can practically feel him in your stomach. He's trying to keep control; he's trying to be gentle with you because he knows how sensitive you are, but he's slowly losing it. He's going to use you like a doll. His thrusts pick up pace, and all you can hear in the room is skin slapping against skin unforgivingly. The hand around your mouth clamps down harder as he buries his head into your neck.
“Im sorry... fuck” was all you got as he hiked your leg up higher on his waist, trying to hit deeper. His hot breath fanning across your neck and the soft staccato groans he lets out are the only indications that he is close. Your head is in the clouds, and you can't think straight. You barely register the fact that you came again until he bites at your neck to muffle his deep groan at the feeling of your walls tightening down on him. Next thing you know, he's snapped.
He quickly sits up, throwing your leg over his shoulder as he drives his hips down into you, practically fucking you into the mattress until his hips are stuttering. He pulls the panties from your mouth to kiss you in the hopes of drowning out his own sounds of pleasure. His kiss is messy. It's nothing but tongue and teeth as his thrusts grow slopy. He's practically whimpering into your mouth when he cums.He rides out his high before pulling away from your lips. All you can do is stare at each other as you catch your breath. There is a brief moment of silence before you both burst out laughing. He collapses next to you and pulls you close.
“You think they heard that?” he asks, panting.
"Oh, we definitely heard everything." A muffled voice can be heard through the door, and you assume it's Yunas.
You're too sleepy to feel embarrassed as your eyelids begin to droop.
"Don't worry, you two; we'll say you won as long as you don't try to kill each other again." Johnny's muffled voice can be heard next.
"I don't think she'll be able to do much for a while," Haechan muffles. Speaking to your sleeping form more than anyone else.
"I'll get the plan B girl. I gotchu," Yuna voice fades as she walks down the hallway.
She was definitely gonna grill you for the details. She always wanted a run-down play by play of everything that happened.
Soon, you found yourself drifting off to sleep in haechans warm embrace.
⋅───⊱༺ ♰ ༻⊰───⋅⋅───⊱༺ ♰ ༻⊰───⋅
Johnny would call his mission a success. You two stopped arguing for the most part, and the group was able to enjoy more peaceful outings without the two of you turning every conversation into a debate. Your friends were fond of your bickering, but at times it could get to be too much. But now that your relationship with Haechan has blossomed into a….situationship? They were running into another problem.
You two fuck like rabbits.
No matter where you were, you two were slipping off to do who knows what or being all touchy-feely with each other, and your friends didn't want to see or hear any of it. But because you two seemed happier, they learned to cope with it. Yuna bought new noise-canceling headphones to use whenever Haechan would spend the night at your dorm. Johnny upgraded the speakers in the house so that when he had a party and you two snuck away, the music could blast louder to drown out your noises. Mark downloaded more mobile games on his phones to ignore you two when you would get all lovey during movie nights.
Haechan still picked on you, but he saved it more for the bedroom, and you still tried to test his patience any chance you got. You didn't know what you two had, but you didn't mind enjoying it while it lasted or even furthering it. You learned a lot more about Haechan and discovered that you two had more in common than you believed. You also learned he could be a real sweetheart sometimes. Maybe your friends were right all along, and maybe Johnny isn't as crazy as you thought. Maybe you didn't have to be better than Haechan all along.

(series masterlist) | (📂 2025: fall from grace)
(prev)
she stares into the restaurant where the group of blondes sit, trying to count in her head if she should finally announce her presence.
she’d been lurking in the group chat watching them make plans. plans that included her by default yet she still hesitated to bring herself out to meet them.
perhaps it’s too soon to be here? unless oscar wasn’t lying when he said that her other friends miss her too despite isolating herself for more than half the year.
“what are you doing lingering out here in the cold?” a familiar voice fills her ears with a soft chuckle. “come on in and join us for lunch, silly.”
“oscar,” she laughs sheepishly, scratching the back of her head. “i’m afraid it’s too soon for me to be here. i’ll just head back home.”
oscar tilts his head and furrows his eyebrows. he watches her turn on her heel and starts walking in the direction of her apartment. “what?” he grabs her wrist and yanks her towards the entrance of the restaurant. “no, you told me you’d join us today. you got ready and everything — even did your makeup! you look great, mate.”
she tries to pull herself back. “i don’t even know if they want me here.”
“remember what i told you yesterday,” oscar stops in his tracks and turns around to face her, “sometimes it’s all in your head. this time, trust me when i say it is. liam and mick missed you just as much as we did.”
she hesitates for a moment but eventually nods. oscar cheers and pumps his fist in the air. “great! then let’s go.”
oscar guides her into the restaurant and slowly approaches the table where their friends sit.
liam scowls at logan, “i’m seriously curious about whatever the hell goes in your head.”
“what do you mean?” logan asks, slightly hurt, “it’s a legit question. they’re just infected — sick, perhaps — so technically they’re still human.”
“point taken, but like… i wouldn’t consider them human still,” mick mumbles hesitantly, seemingly in deep thought over logan’s question. “but that’s just a very… peculiar question.”
“if rocky was here, she’d entertain me unlike you losers,” logan scoffs, folding his arms over his chest. “your answers are basic. i want an actual nurturing conversation about zombies and their human rights.”
“you guys got an extra seat for me? i have opinions about zombies and human rights,” she says softly with a smile. “i know i haven’t joined you in a while and i’m sorry. but if you let me—”
“oh, you’re here!” mick jumps up from his seat. he rounds the table and shoves oscar away from her then throws his arms around the small girl. “there’s always a seat for you! what do you mean?”
“welcome back,” liam beams with a nod. “mick here has a list of gossip he wants to talk to you about.”
logan scowls, “gossip that he refused to tell us unless you’re around.”
“well, why would i tell you boring idiots are gossip i worked so hard to get?” mick scowls, rolling his eyes. he starts to guide her towards his seat and pulls out a chair for her to sit next to him. “for a bunch of uninterested answers and sighs?”
“i could be—”
“whatever!” mick says exasperatedly, rolling his eyes. he sits her down in the seat and takes his own, pulling his phone out from his pocket. “so i have a list. let’s start with whatever the hell is going on with red bull and max.”
liam watches the girl walk out of the restaurant first, with the ruse that it’s too warm inside the restaurant. he excuses himself from mick, waving him off nonchalantly as he tries to settle the bill.
“i’m glad you’re back,” liam hums with a smile, approaching her with his head dropped and kicking rocks on the ground. “missed you, mate.”
“thanks,” she laughs, looking up from her phone. “i’m sorry i clocked out for a while there. i didn’t know how to cope with the year we were having.”
“it would’ve been nice to have you around,” he admits softly, finally stopping by her side. “this season has been so cruel to us. wish we had each other a little bit more, you know? we could’ve just gone through it together.”
she throws her head back. at some point in the year, she did consider that. but she’d tried getting herself to reach out to liam, but by that time, it felt like a case of too little too late.
“i know,” she sighs with a small smile. “i’m sorry. i thought you were doing perfectly fine without me.”
“the world’s always been a little harder on you, let’s admit that,” liam rests his arm on her shoulder, “we’re just glad that you’re back. you look like you’ve gotten back the colour in your face.”
“yeah, it’s about time,” she nods. “so, about your offers from other teams. anything that stood out to you yet?”
liam grins. “i’ve been meaning to talk to you about that after summer break. i didn’t think i’d see you til then,” he laughs. “they’re gonna announce it on the first race weekend from summer break.”
“you made a decision!” she shrieks. though, she feels her chest slightly tighten. liam avoiding a direct answer can truly only mean one thing and it’s that she’ll have to cozy up with some new driver that isn’t one of her closest friends. “that’s amazing, i’m so happy for you!”
“i’ve re-signed with andretti, mate. a year extension and if it goes well next year, i’m definitely staying a little longer,” liam jumps up and grabs her shoulders, “we’re going to be teammates forever!”
“what?” she almost drops her phone from the bombshell he’s dropped on her. “you’re not leaving?”
“don’t tell the guys yet, it’s a secret til then!” liam immediately recomposes himself when the doors open and their friends walk out.
“what are you girls giggling about?” oscar snorts, shaking his head. “keeping secrets from us?”
“it’s a teammate thing.”
“what are you doing still in the car?” logan hums, hunching to look into the car. the girl continues to sit in the passenger seat and looks ahead blankly. “oscar’s already at the door, dude. let’s go.”
“what if they hate me forever?” she frowns, turning to logan with slight tears in her eyes. “i sucked. not very family-friendly of me to act the way i did. and missing the anniversary party? not very cool either.”
“just get out of the car,” logan snorts, finally opening the door for her. he points towards the house and looks back at her. “come on. your dad told us he made your favourite cookies if it will help get you inside.”
she rolls her eyes. “you told papa i was coming?”
“just him, i promise.”
“boo. you suck.”
but she follows logan out of the car anyway. she watches as logan drags both of their bags towards the door and gives her another smile. then he walks down the pathway through the front yard to make his way to the front door.
she watches from the car as the front door opens, revealing her mother with a wide grin as she greets logan and oscar with open arms, yanking them in for a tight hug and kisses on cheeks. she only gets noticed when oscar steps aside to point at the car.
“you’re here!” her mother shrieks, hands on her cheeks as she pushes past the 2 boys in front of her. “my love, i missed you so much! i’m so glad you’re here!”
she remains in her position, hands fisted by her side as she watches her mother thread the stone pathway to walk over to her. “you look amazing. i’m so happy that you’re here.”
arms are thrown around her tightly, catching her off-guard. she’s barely even got the chance to get her carefully constructed apology out. for how she’s acted, for how she treated everyone in that house for the couple of days she spent in it.
“i’m seriously so glad you’re here. good thing i made your favourite,” her mother shrieks, starting to yank her towards the house. “and papa made cookies! then blythe stocked up on the ice cream you like hoping you were coming by with oscar and logan.
“dalton’s going to be so glad that you’re here.”
“dalton?” she asks in surprise, lifting an eyebrow as she follows her mother into the house. “isn’t he mad at me?”
her mother grins and stops right before they enter the kitchen. her cheek is cupped by her mother tenderly and the other hand brushes through her hair. “blythe sat both ciara and dalton down and told them off. i’m sorry i didn’t see you were struggling — i thought i was helping. i didn’t know.”
“you know?” she tilts her head with furrowed eyebrows. tears fill her eyes as she slumps her shoulder. “i didn’t mean to take it out on you. you know i love you, mama.”
“it’s okay. you’re still just my baby,” her mother sighs, pulling her head in to rest on her shoulder. “i should have known you were just overwhelmed. i’m sorry i didn’t notice and drove you even further.”
“oh, cool! you’re here!” dalton’s voice echoes in the house, making her jump off her mother. “i made you cookies!”
“did not,” ciara scoffs, rolling her eyes, following dalton down the stairs. “we had to buy a new batch of ingredients cause he put the egg whites in with the batter.”
dalton shakes his head disapprovingly as he passes the mother and daughter. “they told me too late. they’re not the best at instructions and that’s why you can tell ciara works all by herself in a measly little studio — can’t lead for shit.”
ciara smacks the back of his head. “fuck you.” the younger girl turns to her oldest sister with a smile. “welcome home. we set up just dance so we can watch logan trip over his feet all evening.”
“hey!”
apologising should come easy, she’s already done it attempting to make amends for the past 2 weeks with everyone. though she can’t ignore the churning in her stomach as she walks down a familiar hallway.
drafting the apology speech in her hotel room came naturally to her. with logan and oscar’s nod of approvals, suddenly she was ready to head out.
but there’s still the worry that it could be rejected.
who would want to take her back, anyway? it’s a miracle that everyone else in her life has received her with open arms after the way she acted.
she stares at the plain door for a moment and takes a deep breath. she just has to say she’s sorry, that’s all. just like how she told her friends she would.
she bites down on her lip as she finally musters the courage to land a knock on the door.
“give me a second!”
“okay, no rush.”
footsteps from inside the apartment halt for a moment. she hears heavy footsteps approaching the door and something dropping on the floor, then stumbling, making her smile to herself. then she hears the locks click hurriedly before it’s yanked open.
matt sighs in relief and throws his head back. “thank god it’s actually you. i thought i was going crazy hearing your voice.”
“over exaggeration,” she points out with a small smile. she sucks in a deep breath and exhales shakily. “hi.”
“hi,” he slouches slightly and leans on the door frame. “why didn’t you tell me you were coming? i could’ve picked you up from the airport.”
she waves his concerns away with a soft laugh. “it wouldn’t be a surprise if i asked you to pick me up, would it?” she looks down and extends her hands, a bouquet of flowers pushed into his chest. “these are for you.”
“what?” surprised, yet he still takes it into his hands. “what are these for?”
“i’m sorry,” she says softly, pursing her lips with a soft shrug. “i didn’t wanna do it over the phone or make you fly to london just so i can do it there… i blew things out of proportion and i pushed you away when all you wanted to do was help. i’m the one who burned us down.”
“they’re apology flowers?” he points out, slightly amused, scanning the bouquet with a smile. “you came all this way to say that to me?”
“i didn’t know how else to show you how sorry i really am.” she shifts uncomfortably and tucks her hair behind her ears. “i’ll spend forever making it up to you, i promise. i should have coped better and—”
“i missed you,” he says in a sigh. he puts the bouquet down on the top of his shoe back and lunges forward to throw his arms around her. he squeezes her tightly and buries his face into her hair. “you seriously should have told me you were coming.”
“matt—”
“i’m so excited that you’re finally here! i was taking kota out on a walk the other day and i walked past this new ice cream shop. i think you might really like it there,” matt starts to ramble, pulling away. “just give me 20 minutes and let’s head out for a date? how does that sound?”
she blinks, slightly taken aback by how he’s reacted. “what?”
“i haven’t been away that long, have i?” he stares at her curiously, furrowing his eyebrows. “you still love ice cream, don’t you?”
“yeah, but… you know… i was so mean to you for so long. shouldn’t you be a little angrier at me for what i did? i was such a bitch.”
“you were having a hard time,” he says immediately as she tries to berate herself. “i don’t blame you for that. it’s okay; we’re okay.” he pulls her into his apartment. “i’m just glad you’re back — my girlfriend’s back!”
“hi,” she greets with a smile, catching the older man off-guard as he approaches her. “fun summer break?”
sebastian flinches slightly and looks around him. there is nobody else here that she could be speaking to but him. “hi?” he smiles hesitantly. “it was. how was yours?”
“it was alright,” she shrugs, pressing her lips together into a thin line. she moves towards her bags to leave an empty space open for sebastian. “i got you something over the break. i went to los angeles for a couple of days.”
he tilts his head and jab his finger into his chest. “you got me something? on your trip?”
“yeah,” she grins. she turns away momentarily to grab something out of her bag and turns to present a pair of mugs to him. “i’m sorry i broke our matching mugs that one night in the paddocks. and i’m sorry i was a total bitch the entire season and that i was a big fat meanie, as dalton put it.”
he laughs, throwing his head back. if you’d asked him, he would have been more worried if they started the second half of the season with her still in the trenches.
it’s relieving to see that she’s gotten colour back into her face, making conversation and looking well put together. if her behaviour continued any longer, he’s afraid it would have become permanent at some point.
“you’re okay now?” sebastian grins, patting her on the head. she beams and nods. “okay enough to eat some ice cream?”
“yes,” she sighs exasperatedly with the roll of her eyes. “i can’t believe i haven’t eaten ice cream for 2 months. can you believe i stayed away that long?”
“honestly, i thought all this stemmed from the lack of ice cream,” sebastian jokes, poking her shoulder. “welcome back, kid. let’s make the best out of the rest of our season, okay? no more cowering into the corner — we face it head on.”
she nods firmly. “okay.”

oOoOo
"Cassian, I need you to visit Windhaven and deal with Devlon. I'm getting reports of unrest, and I want this handled before it becomes a problem." Rhys commanded, not looking up from the papers on his desk.
Standing at attention, Cass nodded his head once, sharply. "Of course. I will go and pack, so that y/n and I may leave before the sun sets." He moved to exit the room, holding his hand out for you, but was quickly stopped before either of you got too far.
"Actually, y/n, I need you to accompany me." Rhys interrupted, directing his attention to you.
Your jaw dropped, caught off guard, and you hurried to school your features. It was not that you had to be paired with Cassian for all missions, but it had been that way for at least a century now since your mating ceremony. It served as peace of mind to you and Cass, and usually meant your missions were more successful compared to when you were separated. Surely, Rhys understood that.
"We will be leaving for the Spring Court in the morning, and I need my most trusted courtier with me."
Shock ran through your body, but you nodded your head regardless. It must be a serious matter, for you had not visited the Spring Court in many months. However, you instantly felt a sharp tug of your mating bond followed by waves of anger that poured off of Cassian.
"Spring Court?" he ground out, fists clenched at his side. "Why must you travel to the Spring Court? I thought we put that behind us?"
"Because I have official business to conduct with Tamlin that supersedes our personal desires. And I need the Night Court's courtier present for." Rhys snapped back.
You sent a soothing message down the bond, trying to calm Cass' anger you felt growing with each second that passed. "Cass, it's alright. Both of us will be fine."
"No. Rhys, you know what happened the last time any of us stepped foot there. You really want to risk it? Can't you send anyone else to go? Lucien, Mor, Feyre?"
Now it was Rhys' turn to growl. "Watch it, Cassian. I've told y/n she will accompany to Spring and that's enough."
"But can't you just-"
"I said that's enough!" Rhys shouted, his eyes darkened dangerously as the thread of his patience snapped. "I am your High Lord, and you will not push back against what I command."
A tension so thick that it threatened to choke you immediately filled the room. You kept your eyes locked on the ground, but you didn't have to look to know Cass wore a mask of despair on his face. It had been decades since Rhys had lost his temper like that.
Cassian merely bowed his head in mock respect before dragging you from the room. He did not speak for the next hour, only doing so to whisper his love and goodbye to you, before flying to Windhaven, not saying another word to Rhys.
oOoOo
The next day found yourself in the ruins of the Spring Court. What once was a beautiful court that thrived for all its citizens now lay dilapidated and lonely, a reflection of the court's high lord's own feelings. It had rattled your nerves to set foot on Tamlin's territory considering the rocky history between the Spring and Night courts, but you would not leave Rhys' side.
Now, you were utterly exhausted from mediating with two, stubborn males all day; only for no new development to transpire, meaning you simply wasted a day away from your own court and your mate. Your only relief came from the swift exit Rhys insisted on, making sure you would arrive home before the sun set.
Yet, the tension from the previous day lingered as you and Rhys traveled to the border to be able to winnow out. But as you both walked in silence, you couldn't help but feel uneasy. Like someone, or something was watching you. Before you could communicate any of this to Rhys, you caught a solider out of the corner of your eye with an arrow notched and aimed at your high lord.
"Look out!" you shouted. With such little warning, you knew Rhys wouldn't be able to deflect the arrow on his own. And with a rush of adrenaline, you pushed your body to reach Rhys.
Mere seconds before the arrow could lodge itself in its initial target, your body collided with Rhys', knocking him out of the way and safely to the ground. Instead, the arrow lodged itself deep in your shoulder, burning like a thousand fires. You let out a guttural scream, immediately dropping to the ground.
Being part of the Inner Circle - the Court of Dreams - meant you were no stranger to pain, but this was unlike anything you ever thought existed. Very briefly, you recognized that Rhys had neutralized the threat and now hovered over your body.
His face was contorted in pain and tears clouded his eyes. He moved to pull the arrow from your body, but halted the moment he touched it. Your scream reverberated in the stone courtyard.
"y/n, I'm sorry, I'm sorry." he cried, never seeing you like this. Quickly, Rhys gathered you in his arms and winnowed back to Velaris and directly into the med wing. He prayed Madja could mend the wounds, and he blanched at the thought of Cassian discovering the events that had played out.
oOoOo
Meanwhile, in the Windhaven camp, Cassian was meeting with a handful of males, attempting to negotiate peace. His focus wavered, however, as a blinding wave of agony struck his heart through his bond. He froze on the spot, his heart stopped pumping blood. While on a mission, the two of you had agreed to keep the bond closed - for safety reasons. The fact that he could feel this immense pain, meant something very wrong had occurred.
"I-I have to go." Cassian mumbled, not bothering to offer any more explanation to the Illyrians - consequences be damned.
Immediately, he took to the skies and started the flight back to Velaris. The already long flight felt like it took an eternity. The wind strung at Cassian's cheeks as he soared, but the pain didn't register like the way the bond sung in pain.
Finally, Cass could see River House in his site, and when he finally entered the house, he was met with the site of his family huddled together in the sitting room. All eyes turned his way, a mixture of pity and concern as they looked at him.
"What happened? Where is y/n?" he demanded, fully stepping into his role as Lord of Bloodshed, eyes darkened and wings drawn out menacingly.
Before anyone could answer, another scream could be heard from the halls. Cassian's knees buckled, and he would have fallen to the floor if Azriel hadn't been standing by. Rhys blocked his path, unable to meet his brother's eye.
"She was attacked, brother. We were ambushed while visiting the Spring Court." Rhys whispered.
"And they attacked her?" Cass questioned, though he knew deep down that wasn't the case. When Rhys, or anyone else for that matter, refused to speak, Cassian growled. "What happened?"
Unable to speak, Rhysand gently scraped against Cassian's mental shields and projected to him the whole truth of what had happened at the Spring Court; the ambush, you pushing yourself into harm's way for the sake of Rhys, and the pain you felt from the moment the arrow struck your body.
As Rhys withdrew himself from his brother's mind, Cass drew, deep rugged breaths. The silence in the room was so thick it felt suffocating, but no one dared to move or speak first. However, instead of speaking, Cass pushed past everyone and demanded his way into your room to be by your side.
One look at your crumpled form, sent Cassian to his knees by your bedside. He reached out, hesitantly, to grasp your hand in his and allowed the tears to fall. "I'm so sorry, sweetheart." he mumbled.
Madja made herself known from the corner, approaching Cass the way one would a frightened animal. "The arrow she was shot with was laced with a terrible poison - much worse than faebane. I've done my best, but some of the poison already made it to her system."
"When will she wake up?" Cass asked, not allowing the possibility of you never waking to cross his lips.
The healer sighed deeply, looking over the famed general, now brought to his knees at the sight of his mate fighting for her life. "Only the Cauldron and Mother know. It will be up to y/n to bring herself back from the brink." Madja spoke slowly.
With a final, soothing touch to Cass's shoulder, Madja made her exit. Now off to deliver the same news to the rest of your waiting family.
"Please don't leave me. Y-you can't leave me." Cass whispered, clutching your hand. "I'm here with you every step of the way." he vowed.
oOoOo
And that was how it continued for the next four days as your body continued to try and heal itself from the inside out. Cass refused to move from the chair he had dragged to sit by your bed. Unwilling to leave your side for even a moment.
The rest of his family took turns sitting with you and Cass, bringing him meals, forcing him to at least take a bite. He knew that everyone else was suffering as well from your situation, but it felt like his heart was being torn apart, bit by bit, with each hour that passed and you still remained asleep.
He wasn't stupid. He knew the longer you went without improvement, the less likely it became you would heal. Cass heard the hushed conversations Mor and Azriel held outside your door, discussing what to do should the worst happen, Cauldron forbid.
It was on that fourth day that Cassian reached a tipping point. He heard the door creak open behind him, imagining it was Amren who would be sitting with him, based on the previous days' schedule.
What Cass had not anticipated was to see his High Lord approach the bed and pull a chair up on the opposite side of your bed. It was obvious to see the prominent dark circles that overtook Rhys's normally bright face, and the way his body and seemingly sunk into itself. But Cass could not bring himself to care for his brother's guilt or be the first to utter a word.
With a wave of his hand, Rhys summoned a tray of food for Cassian, and only sighed when he rejected the peace offering. Finally, Rhys found a sliver of courage and was the first to break the silence.
"Madja has yet to make headway on identifying the poison y/n was hit with, but she is not giving up. None of us are." he offered, unsure of how to breach the subject.
Rhysand could only imagine what Cassian was experiencing. The pain of losing Feyre had been so immense, but in a twisted sense, at least it had been quick. A blink of an eye and she was gone. Rhys didn't think he would have been strong enough to sit vigil, feeling her fade through the bond with each passing minute.
"Stop looking at me like she's already gone." Cass growled, eyes darkening towards Rhys.
"Brother, I only want to help her, and to support you."
"I think you've done quite enough. It's your fault she's even in this position to begin with." he spat, enjoying the way that Rhys flinched at his words.
"Now that's not fair, Cassian." Rhys tried to counter. "I never asked her to that for me."
Cass could only scoff at the High Lord's response. "Of course, you didn't have to ask. You're the fucking High Lord, of course she was going to risk her life for you. Isn't that we all do here?"
"All of you, y/n including, knew what you were getting into, what the dangers were, when you swore allegiance to my court. You don't get to throw that back on me. You think this doesn't hurt me just as it hurts you?"
"No, it fucking doesn't!" Cassian screamed, his blood boiling at this point. "Because you use us like your puppets to protect you and your mate-"
"Careful how you continue, Cassian." Rhysand warned, not caring for slander against his mate, even in Cass's state of grief.
"Ever since this "death bargain" you and Feyre struck, it's like the rest of us don't matter. All we do is making sure your asses aren't killed because Cauldron forbid the saviors of Prythian are stolen from us." Cassian blazed on. "Yes, you've lost your mate before, Rhys, but she came back to you, and you to her.
"Who will remake y/n if she can't fight this? You and your High Lady are so far up on your pedestal that you don't know what it's like for the rest of us. Yes, we understood what our duties would entail, but that doesn't mean we have to continue to stand for this." Cassian spat, finally allowing years of pent-up fear and anger to spill over.
With one last, murderous, glare, Cassian turned his back on Rhysand, letting his words ring out for all in the House to hear. His wings stretched out behind him, hiding both you and he from Rhys, the Night Court, and the rest of the world. If it was to only be the two of you against everyone else from that point on, so be it.

second chances
hughes!sister x will smith au (samy + will)
being at will’s going away party leaves samy feeling confused, so she looks to gabe and ryan for help
2.5k words
woohoo a fic!! finally!! i had to rewrite this like 3 different times bc i just didn’t like how it was being written, so i think i finally like this one lmao. we are getting closer to samy and will getting back together, but keep requesting for things! (i’m also working on my other requests dw!!)
au masterlist
"okay, smile!" samy exclaimed while she held her little digital camera up to her face to get a picture of the boys all together. technically, she forced them into a photo—somehow being able to find all seven of them for a quick photo.
will's house was packed with people everywhere, so even finding an open space in his yard was like some miracle. the hockey boys smiled widely as samy's flash went off and the picture quickly displayed itself on the screen a moment later.
"aw, you guys are so adorable," the girl laughed, flipping the camera around so they could see the result.
"we should get that framed," ryan smiled as well.
"we'll take it again in like ten years to see how much we've changed," drew joked, but it only made the realization set in further that they probably wouldn't be all together again until then.
"samy should get in with her three boys," aram urged meaning her, ryan, gabe, and will.
it was determined pretty early on that those three and samy were the closest. not saying that the others weren't close with her, but it was easy to see how much of a connection all of them had with one another. samy's cheeks flushed, but she didn't have time to oppose because aram grabbed the camera from her hands and motioned for the four of them to get together.
"smile big!" the taller brunette grinned.
gabe and ryan smushed samy between them while will hung off gabe's side. their arms brushed, touching slightly behind gabe's back. the flush on the girl's cheeks didn't disappear as the flash went off again with the other boys peering over aram's shoulder.
"best one yet," the hockey player laughed, passing the camera to samy so she could see.
the sight was bittersweet. they all sported wide smiles while clinging to each other to hold onto the last moments with one another because who knew when they'd all be in the same place at once again. schedules were only getting busier as they grew into their careers. plus, things between samy and will were still somewhat rocky even though they were back on speaking terms.
that seemed to be the worst part.
"thanks for putting up with my pictures," the youngest hughes smiled, shutting off her little camera for now.
"i think you're the only reason we even have pictures together, so we should be thanking you," drew teased a bit making the others laugh. samy's gaze swept over the still massive crowd in the backyard until she landed back on will.
he must've sensed her gaze on him because he met hers almost immediately. a look neither of them really understood sat on their expressions—a mix between "i want to talk to you" and "i shouldn't talk to you" that had them struggling which one to choose.
will's family was hosting all of the hughes family for the weekend while they were in boston for the farewell party. the two only made a bit of small talk since last night when they got in to now. it was hard to describe what their relationship was at the moment. they sort of fixed things at the vacation back in july, but not much talking happened outside of that.
"hey will!" someone broke the two from their staring. both of their gazes slid to whoever just called his name, seeing a family friend motioning the blonde over.
samy watched as will said goodbye to them for now before pushing his way into the crowd. her eyes fell from his retreating figure until she found gabe's who must've been watching that entire interaction. the look in his eyes told her that he knew what she was thinking. he nodded his head, a motion saying to walk with him to somewhere less crowded so they could talk.
somehow, her and gabe have been reading each other a lot more easier than before. it must've been something they picked up ever since samy began ranting to him about everything going on her life since she didn't have will there anymore.
the two slipped away from the group through the yard until they were in the front of the house. gabe led the way to the front steps where he sat on one of the bottom ones, patting the spot beside him for samy to sit down.
"how are you?" the dark-haired boy began.
"i'm fine," the girl shrugged.
"are you guys still not talking much?"
samy pursed her lips, eyes on the car-filled driveway, "i guess. we haven't talked a whole lot since i got in last night."
"does that bother you?" gabe really turned into a therapist whenever him and samy talked about the breakup because he asked questions only her therapist would ask her about her feelings.
samy had to laugh at that thought making the boy beside her raise his eyebrow, "sorry, i'm just laughing because you kind of sound like my therapist. i don't know how i'm feeling to be honest. kind of weird? sad? happy?"
"i get it. i'm sure it's weird being here still," the hockey player sympathized and samy nodded.
"i just..i guess it makes me kind of sad that..all of our lives will and i talked about this day happening and how he'll go off somewhere to pursue his dreams and i'll still stick right by his side, but now we can hardly talk to one another and he's leaving in three days to the other side of the country," she bit her lip, pushing all the tears edging its way up her throat.
a frown found its way to gabe's lips, slowly pulling his arm around the girl for a small hug. his gesture forced the tears out as samy buried her face into her hands. he didn't say anything, instead letting her cry it out while he offered the best comfort he could in silence.
"i'm sorry. i think everything is just hitting me again," samy apologized while she wiped her tears away.
"don't apologize. it's good to feel all of it. i get it. this whole weekend has felt sad," gabe rubbed her arm in little circles.
"tell me about it," the girl mumbled earning a little chuckle from both of their lips.
samy rested her head on gabe's shoulder. the two sat in silence for a moment until they caught sight of ryan coming up from the backyard. the brunette smiled when she saw her other friend. "they told me you guys disappeared this way," ryan explained while a small smile, but it faded when he saw samy's somewhat red eyes.
"are you okay?" he quickly wondered.
"yeah, i'm fine. just got a little sad," she laughed, but not in a funny way, more like to fill the awkward silence kind of way.
ryan found gabe's eyes as the two of them spoke in only looks before he joined the two on the bottom step. "this could be your chance to talk to him more. i know it's been kind of awkward still between you guys."
"i don't know. it seems like all we can manage is weird small talk before things get awkward and tense," samy frowned. "i just wish things could go back to how they were, you know?"
"i mean..technically, you still can. you just have to do a lot of talking," ryan shrugged.
"i don't even know if i want to take him back or even like..go back to being in a relationship. do you guys even think i should?" the girl glanced between ryan and gabe. the two looked at one another again, their expressions unreadable.
"you know we can't answer that," gabe finally said.
"can you please just humor me and tell me because i can't even decide for myself," she rolled her eyes.
"he is still your best friend, you know. that kind of shit doesn't just go away, no matter how much you guys don't talk or whatever. from what we know, he's really sorry for hurting you," ryan glanced at gabe again for a second. "i don't know if we're supposed to tell you this, but like a few months ago when he was at the bauer combine he called us from rutger phones having a panic attack about you. it sounded like he really regretted what he did and he knows how much he messed up."
samy took in ryan's words, her mouth forming into an oh.
"do with that what you will, but he is really sorry and if you did take him back, he won't ever hurt you like that again. he was being stupid and i'm not defending his actions, but he really did make a stupid decision and i do hate him for not talking to you before he did it," ryan continued when samy didn't respond at first.
she looked over at gabe who nodded in agreement to everything the taller brunette said.
"you know him more than we do, samy. it's really your choice, but i think you should at least try to hear him out more and let him talk to you. at least let your friendship happen again," the dark-haired boy added.
"even if i did take him back, we don't have summer anymore. he's leaving in three days," samy finally spoke again. she watched her friends exchange another glance like they knew something she didn't.
"just talk to him. you know what they say about distance. if they really love you then nothing else matters. not even being all the way across the country," ryan said.
it looked like samy had a lot to think about, but she appreciated the truth from the boys.
—
people left the party around seven leaving everyone else staying to help with the clean up. samy started in the backyard with a big trash bag picking up the cans and bottles people left around. she actually didn't understand how guests just left their trash when there were numerous trash bins all across the yard to throw stuff in.
the others were inside picking up the rooms, so she was by herself until the back door slid open. will stood on the back deck getting the trash up there, but his gaze kept looking over at samy further down the yard. the blonde glanced back inside where he met ryan and gabe's gazes. both of them gave him a thumbs up saying go talk to her.
will walked down the deck, taking a deep breath before opening his mouth, "need any help?"
his voice somewhat startled samy, quickly looking over her shoulder and meeting his gaze. "oh, uh, yeah, sure."
the awkward silence quickly overtook them as will picked up the cups and cans on the grass. samy thought about ryan and gabe's words from earlier, cursing to herself as she plucked up the courage to try and talk.
"the party was nice," she began.
will popped back up, smiling almost immediately, "thanks. mom basically planned all of it."
"yeah i could tell. she looked like she was stressing me about everything going well," samy laughed knowing how mrs. smith got with making sure everything always went perfectly.
"thanks for coming..it..it means a lot," will's tone softened out a bit.
"yeah, i'd never miss this. i'm proud of you. you're gonna do great," the girl managed a little grin.
"thank you. you're gonna do great this upcoming season, too," will said talking about samy's soccer season.
"thanks, i hope so. it's looking pretty promising," the brunette hummed.
she found will's gaze again. his eyes searched hers like he was looking for something in her expression before looking back up the yard and awkwardly scratching the back of his neck.
"when do you leave for school again?" the boy wondered.
"not for another two weeks. pre season won't start until the middle of august," samy explained briefly.
"makes sense. when do your brothers head back to van and jersey?"
"pretty soon. they're gonna hang around for another week and then leave."
the question was on the tip of will's tongue, he just didn't know if he could bring himself to ask. it seemed like a stretch considering him and samy hadn't even really talked since july, but gabe and ryan insisted.
"it's kind of hard to believe i'm gonna be playing against them soon," will laughed a little as they moved to a different part of the yard.
"oh yeah, i know. playing against quinn and jack will probably be scary since you've never competitively played then," samy giggled mostly to herself thinking about quinn taking down will on the ice.
"i'm actually kind of scared to play them. luke is one thing, but they've got like..years of experience under their belts," will chuckled too.
"let's just hope they go easy on you first game because you're family," the youngest hughes smiled.
her and will fell into a more comfortable silence as they continued picking up people's garbage. the conversations felt a little easier now, so samy kept talking.
"what's the plans for the apartment?" she wondered because her and will used to talk for hours about what his place in san jose would look like.
"uh, i'm not sure yet. mom's been looking at pictures online, but we'll get a feel when we're there," the boy responded.
"hey, there's always the pinterest boards i made," samy joked, but she missed the look on will's face and the question on threatening to spill out.
"actually, i..i was wondering if you'd wanna be there?" the blonde got out, eyes on samy waiting for her reaction.
the girl stopped what she was doing, "what?"
"i know it's a really crazy ask considering we haven't even really made up, but i don't know. we always talked about how you'd be there helping me move-in and decorate. for some reason, i can't picture you not there," will explained himself briefly.
samy's expression softened out, heart swelling that will wanted her there still.
"oh. i..i mean..i don't have any money for a ticket there.." her cheeks flushed into a bright pink and it was a good thing it was dark so will couldn't see the embarrassing blush.
"that's okay. i can pay for it," he said.
"no, no. i can't..i can't make you do that. no," she shook her head.
"you're not making me do it. i'm willing to do it. i have the money," the blonde quickly shook his head.
samy sighed, her eyes bouncing from the grass to will's face. "are you sure?" she asked but more as a double meaning.
are you sure you want me there? are you sure about us? about me?
"yeah, i'm really sure. maybe it can be a way we can continue to..mend our friendship," will nodded even though saying friendship hurt because he wanted nothing more than to call her his again.
"i promise i'll pay you back," samy laughed a little.
"shut up, you don't have to pay me back. i know this probably won't be the only time i'm flying you out to california," the boy grinned a little making samy blush even further.
something in the air started feeling lighter as the two walked back up to the house. that awkward tension that had been building up for the last three months slowly began dissipating while the spark began rekindling.

rivals?
caitlin clark x reader
warnings:arguing
i don’t know exactly how long this one is i didn’t word count but enjoy
transferring to the indiana fever was supposed to be a fresh start. after a rocky stint with the seattle storm, you had hoped for something new—something better. the fever had always been known for their chemistry, their teamwork, and you wanted to be part of that. you wanted to make a difference. but you hadn’t expected her.
caitlin clark.
you’d watched her dominate in college, her highlight reels splashing across every sports channel, and now here you were, standing across from her in your first practice. she was a star, no doubt about it. you knew this was her team, and the last thing you wanted was to step on her toes. but from the moment you walked into the gym, it felt like you were an intruder.
“hey, welcome to the team,” several players had said, giving you warm smiles and pats on the back. you were used to this—being the new face, trying to find your place among the veterans. but while others were kind, caitlin’s reception was… frosty, to say the least.
“don’t mess up,” she’d said in a tone that was clearly meant to sound like a joke, but the way her eyes narrowed as she looked at you told a different story. you had brushed it off, figuring it was just part of the competitive nature of the sport. maybe she was testing you.
but then, it kept happening.
during the first few drills, she was right there—always watching, always commenting on your every move. “a little quicker next time,” she said after you completed a passing drill, even though your timing had been perfect. “you missed that screen,” she added after a scrimmage, despite the fact that you had set it exactly where you were supposed to.
it wasn’t that her comments were harsh; it was that they felt unnecessary, like she was trying to find fault with you.
you caught the look one of your new teammates, aliyah, gave you during a water break. she noticed it too. “don’t let her get to you,” she said quietly, leaning in so only you could hear. “caitlin’s… intense. she’ll warm up eventually.”
“yeah?” you asked, unconvinced. “because it feels like she already hates me.”
aliyah shrugged. “it’s not personal. she’s just… she has this thing about new people. give it time.”
you wanted to believe that, but every time you looked across the gym, caitlin’s eyes were on you, sharp and critical. you tried to shake it off, focus on your own game, but it was hard when the star of the team clearly didn’t want you there.
at the end of practice, as you were grabbing your gear, caitlin approached you, her expression unreadable. “you did alright today,” she said, her voice flat.
“thanks, i think?” you replied, not sure if it was a compliment or another subtle dig.
she didn’t say anything else, just nodded and walked away. you watched her go, feeling the tension settle into your chest. this was going to be harder than you thought.
🪽🪽🪽
as the weeks went on, the tension between you and caitlin only grew. every practice, every game, she was there, hovering, critiquing, pushing. she never outright said anything cruel, but the undercurrent of her words was always the same: you didn’t belong here.
it was exhausting.
“you know, she’s not always like this,” aliya said one day after practice as you both sat in the locker room, cooling down from a particularly grueling session. “before you came, she was actually pretty chill. focused, sure, but not… whatever this is.”
“and now?”
aliyah gave you a sympathetic look. “now, she’s got this weird chip on her shoulder. i don’t know if it’s you, or if it’s just that she’s feeling the pressure of being the team leader, but something’s definitely up.”
you sighed, wiping the sweat from your brow. “i just don’t get why she’s taking it out on me. i’m not trying to take her spot or anything. i just want to play.”
“i know,” aliyah said. “but caitlin… she’s competitive. sometimes too competitive. she’ll come around.”
you weren’t so sure.
the next practice was more of the same. every time you touched the ball, caitlin was there, guarding you harder than necessary, calling out your every move, pointing out things you were sure she wouldn’t have noticed if it were someone else.
“you need to move faster off the pick,” she snapped after a scrimmage, her tone harsher than usual.
“i did move fast,” you shot back, tired of her constant criticism. “maybe if you actually paid attention, you’d see that.”
for a moment, caitlin’s eyes flashed with something—surprise, maybe anger—but she quickly masked it with her usual cold indifference. “whatever. just try to keep up.”
you felt your jaw tighten as you watched her walk away, frustration boiling in your chest. you didn’t know how much longer you could take this. every day, it felt like she was testing you, pushing you, trying to make you crack.
and the worst part? you were starting to crack.
🪽🪽🪽🪽
despite the growing tension with caitlin, you were starting to settle in with the rest of the team. aliyah had become your go-to confidante, and a few other players—kelsey and nalyssa—had started hanging out with you after practices, grabbing dinner or going out for drinks. you felt like you were finally finding your place, building relationships with people who genuinely liked you.
except caitlin.
the more you bonded with the others, the more it seemed to irritate her. she never said anything outright, but you could feel her watching you, her glares becoming more pointed, her comments more biting.
“you’re really fitting in with the team, huh?” she’d remarked one day after practice as you laughed with kelsey and nalyssa.
“yeah, i guess so,” you replied, unsure of what she was getting at.
“just don’t get too comfortable,” she added before walking off, leaving you standing there, confused and frustrated.
🪽🪽🪽🪽
things came to a head one evening after a particularly intense scrimmage. practice had been hard enough with the usual drills, but this time coach had them set up a mock game. tensions were already high, and you could feel the competitive energy crackling through the air. caitlin had been on you all night, dogging your every step, making snide comments under her breath about your movements, your shots, your decisions.
you were doing your best to ignore her, focusing on your game, trying to keep your head in it. but the final play of the night pushed you over the edge.
it was supposed to be a simple pick-and-roll. you saw your opening and took it, cutting past the defense and going in for a layup. except caitlin, who was supposed to back off after the screen, didn’t. instead, she rushed in, slamming into you midair and knocking you hard to the ground.
pain shot up your arm as you landed awkwardly, the ball bouncing away as the whistle blew. a few of the players rushed over to help you up, but you waved them off, your eyes locked on caitlin, who stood a few feet away, breathing hard, her expression unreadable.
“what the hell was that?” you snapped, pushing yourself to your feet.
“what?” caitlin replied, her tone defensive. “it was just a play.”
“just a play? you didn’t have to hit me like that.”
she shrugged, clearly unbothered. “maybe if you weren’t so focused on showing off, you wouldn’t have gotten hit.”
that was it. you’d had enough.
“showing off?” you repeated, stepping closer to her, your voice rising. “i’m trying to play, caitlin. i’m trying to be part of this team, but you—”
“but what?” she cut in, her voice just as sharp. “you think you’re the only one who wants to play? you think you can just waltz in here and take over?”
“take over?” you scoffed, feeling your anger surge. “i’m not trying to take anything from you! you’re the one making this impossible. you’re the one who’s been on my case since the day i got here, and for what? because i’m new? because i get along with the team?”
“you think this is about the team?” she snapped, stepping closer until she was right in front of you, her eyes blazing. “this is about you. you think you’re so perfect, so great. you come in here and everyone loves you, and i’m just supposed to what? step aside and let you take over?”
“i’m not trying to take anything from you!” you yelled, your heart pounding in your chest. “you’re the one who’s acting like i’m your enemy!”
“because you are!” she shouted back, her voice cracking with the weight of her words. the gym fell silent, everyone watching the two of you, but neither of you seemed to care anymore.
“you don’t even know me!” you shot back, the anger and frustration boiling over. “you’ve decided to hate me for no reason, and i’m done trying to figure out why!”
for a moment, neither of you said anything. you just stood there, staring each other down, your breathing heavy, the weight of the confrontation hanging thick in the air. then, caitlin’s jaw clenched, her fists tightening at her sides.
“you don’t get it,” she muttered, her voice low, almost defeated. “you just don’t get it.”
without another word, she turned and stormed out of the gym, leaving you standing there, confused and frustrated, the rest of the team still watching you in stunned silence. you took a shaky breath, your mind racing, replaying her words over and over. what the hell had just happened?
aliyah stepped up beside you, placing a hand on your shoulder. “you okay?”
“yeah,” you muttered, though you weren’t sure if that was true. “i just… what was that?”
“that was caitlin,” aliyah said quietly, her eyes following caitlin’s retreating figure. “she’s been like this for a while. i don’t think it’s just you.”
“it sure feels like it,” you muttered, wiping the sweat from your forehead. you felt the adrenaline start to fade, replaced by an ache in your arm from the fall and a growing sense of confusion in your chest. caitlin’s anger had been building for weeks, but this… this felt like something more.
“give her time,” aliyah said with a small smile. “she’ll come around.”
you weren’t sure if you believed that. as you left the gym that night, your mind was still replaying the way her voice cracked when she yelled, the way her eyes flashed with something almost like hurt. you couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something deeper going on, something you didn’t understand yet.
🪽🪽🪽🪽🪽
the next few practices were awkward, to say the least. caitlin didn’t speak to you, and you weren’t sure if you wanted her to. there was a thick tension between the two of you that everyone could feel, but no one said anything. the rest of the team tried to act normal, but you could tell they were waiting for the next blowup.
it didn’t come.
instead, you found yourself watching caitlin more. not in the way you had been before—out of frustration or anger—but in a way that made you feel something you couldn’t quite name. there was something about the way she played, the way she moved on the court with a kind of grace that came from years of hard work and determination. she was so driven, so focused, and despite everything, you found yourself… admiring her.
it was infuriating.
you weren’t supposed to admire her. she was your rival, the one who had been making your life hell since you got here. but you couldn’t help it. even when she was cold and distant, there was something about her that drew you in, something you couldn’t ignore.
one evening after practice, you found yourself lingering in the gym, shooting around long after everyone else had left. you needed to clear your head, to get rid of the lingering frustration that had been building up for days. the sound of the ball hitting the hardwood was comforting, familiar. it was the one thing that always made sense.
but then, out of the corner of your eye, you saw her.
caitlin was sitting on the bleachers, her knees pulled up to her chest, watching you. you hadn’t noticed her at first, but now that you did, you felt your heart skip a beat. you weren’t sure why she was there or how long she’d been sitting there, but the sight of her made your stomach twist in knots.
“you need something?” you called out, trying to keep your voice steady.
she hesitated for a moment before standing up and walking over to you, her expression guarded. “i thought you’d left,” she said quietly.
“nope,” you replied, bouncing the ball a few times. “just needed some extra reps.”
she nodded, but she didn’t say anything else. for a moment, the two of you just stood there, the silence stretching between you, thick and uncomfortable.
“look,” she finally said, breaking the silence. “about the other night… i shouldn’t have said what i said.”
you blinked, surprised. it wasn’t exactly an apology, but coming from caitlin, it was close enough. “yeah, well… i shouldn’t have yelled either.”
“it’s just…” she trailed off, rubbing the back of her neck awkwardly. “i don’t know. this whole thing has been… hard.”
you frowned, not sure what she meant. “what thing?”
“you. the team. everything.” she sighed, looking away from you. “i’ve always been the one who everyone looks to, you know? i’m the one who has to lead, who has to make sure we’re winning. and then you come in, and everyone loves you, and it’s like… it’s like i’m losing my place.”
you stared at her, stunned by her honesty. this was not the caitlin clark you knew. the confident, cocky player who always seemed to have it all together. this was someone different, someone vulnerable.
“caitlin, i’m not trying to take your place,” you said softly, stepping closer to her. “i just want to be part of the team. that’s it.”
“i know that,” she muttered, her voice barely above a whisper. “but it feels like… i don’t know. it’s stupid.”
“it’s not stupid,” you said, your heart softening. “i get it. you’ve worked so hard to get here, and you don’t want anyone to take that from you. but i’m not your enemy, caitlin.”
for a moment, she didn’t say anything. she just looked at you, her eyes searching yours, and you could see the conflict there, the uncertainty. then, before you could say anything else, she spoke again.
“i don’t hate you, you know,” she said quietly.
you raised an eyebrow, surprised by the sudden admission. “could’ve fooled me.”
she huffed out a small laugh, shaking her head. “no, i don’t. i just… i don’t know how to deal with this.”
“deal with what?”
she hesitated again, her eyes flicking down to the floor before meeting yours. “with how i feel about you.”
you felt your breath catch in your throat, your heart pounding in your chest. “how you feel about me?”
“yeah,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper now. “i didn’t know how to handle it. i thought if i pushed you away, maybe it would go away too. but it didn’t.”
you were speechless, staring at her in shock. this was not the conversation you had ever imagined having with caitlin. the cold, distant, critical caitlin. the one who had made every practice a nightmare. now here she was, standing in front of you, telling you that the reason for all of it was because she… liked you?
“caitlin, i…” you started, but she quickly cut you off.
“you don’t have to say anything,” she said, her voice wavering slightly. “i just needed to get it out. i couldn’t keep pretending that i hated you, because i don’t. i never did. the truth is, you coming here, fitting in with the team so easily… it scared me. it made me realize that maybe i was jealous, but not just because of the team. i was jealous because i couldn’t stop thinking about you.”
her words hung in the air, and you could feel your heart racing in your chest. you hadn’t expected this. for weeks, you’d been at each other’s throats, thinking it was all just rivalry and competition. but underneath it all, there had been something else—something neither of you had been willing to acknowledge until now.
“i didn’t know you felt that way,” you said softly, taking a step closer to her. “i just thought you hated me.”
“i don’t,” she repeated, her eyes locking onto yours. “i like you. a lot. and that’s why this has been so hard.”
you didn’t know what to say. your mind was spinning, trying to process everything she had just admitted. part of you wanted to be angry at her for all the weeks of hostility, but another part of you—the part that had been watching her more closely, the part that had started to admire her—felt a sense of relief. this was what had been underneath it all.
you took a deep breath, gathering your thoughts. “i won’t lie, caitlin. you’ve made things really difficult for me since i got here. but… i’d be lying if i said i haven’t thought about you too.”
her eyes widened slightly, surprised by your admission. “you have?”
you nodded, biting your lip. “yeah. at first, i thought it was just because we were rivals, you know? like, you were always on me, and it pissed me off, but at the same time, i couldn’t stop thinking about you. and then i realized that maybe it wasn’t just anger. maybe it was something more.”
caitlin’s breath hitched, and she took a small step toward you, closing the gap between you. the air between you felt charged, heavy with unspoken feelings, with weeks of tension finally breaking into something else. “so… what does this mean?” she asked, her voice soft, almost vulnerable.
you looked up at her, your heart pounding, and for the first time, you allowed yourself to really look at her—not as a rival, not as someone who had made your life difficult, but as someone you were undeniably drawn to.
“i think it means we’ve been fighting something that’s been there all along,” you said quietly, your eyes never leaving hers. “and maybe… we should stop fighting it.”
for a moment, neither of you moved. the gym was quiet, the sounds of basketball practice long gone, leaving just the two of you standing there, the weight of your words hanging in the air. then, slowly, caitlin reached out and took your hand, her fingers warm and steady around yours.
“i don’t want to fight anymore,” she whispered, her eyes searching yours. “i just want to figure this out.”
your heart swelled at her words, and you squeezed her hand gently. “me too.”
wowwwwwwwww that was long. if you made it this far, thanks for reading! had to blast gracie abrams for this one. requests open

Word count: 1.8k
Rating: explicit, 18+, no minors
Warnings: smut, masochism, size difference, some brief talk of weight, creampie, mostly Dom!Reader but some Dom!Mark, spitting, p in v
Summary: Your ex, Mark, has no where to go after the glass coffin trap and needs your help...even though you've been on a break.
Notes: I wanted to challenge myself to write a fic that has more detail this time. Reading my works back they all seem super quick to get into the action. So let me know what you think and I hope you enjoy!
You jump out of your skin at the loud bang against your apartment door. You begrudgingly roll over to the bedside table to check your phone: 1:03AM. Sighing, you put on slippers and stagger to the door. There's a more polite knock this time as you look through the peep hole: it's Mark Hoffman.
You and Mark had a rocky relationship ever since he became an apprentice for John Kramer. You found out from his clothing being torn, covered in oil and miscellaneous substances, or just straight up gone missing, and confronted him about it. He showed you the way of the traps and Kramer's ideology, part of you was sick to your stomach thinking about how many people have died like this, but the other part of you was seriously into how he would build the traps, brainstorming ideas and coming home all hot and bothered. But in the end, you had to take a break, Mark couldn't commit to a relationship as he was essentially married to his work. What you both had was fun, but you always wanted something more.
You unlock the door and Mark tumbles into your flat and walks straight into the kitchen. When you turn around you notice his once silk blue shirt is now red, full of cuts and glass shards. You don't quite know how he got to you; did he drive? Walk? Either way it was impressive how he's still standing. He swipes the kitchen table clean and dumps a first aid kit down. "Fix me", he demands of you. You sigh, thinking about how many months have passed without hearing from him and he turns up like this out of the blue, then inevitably grab some tweezers and sterilising fluid.
Nothing more is said after that, the only sound in the room is you cutting off Hoffman's shirt. Mark had actually trained you in first aid since he started up the traps, to cover for all eventualities. Things like how to stitch a wound, fix dislocations, and so on. You didn't think you'd actually have to use it when he left. It's not exactly like he could fish out the shards himself so it made sense in a way, even though it was painful for you to see him again. Maybe not as painful as the actual glass in his back though. You carefully start removing pieces from him, every so often he flinches but stays as stoic as ever. You put each shard on the table, disinfecting the tweezers as you go. It's painstaking, especially without a word being said. There's too many thoughts whizzing around your head, you wouldn't even know where to start, so you focus on your work instead.
You dab at the wounds with wipes, you notice a couple of particularly deep ones need stitches, and few more need steri-strips. You start to unwind your thread, and begin to close them up. He still flinches and groans occasionally as you fix his wounds. You're surprised you have enough steri strips for the rest. You give it one last glance over to make sure there's no more tint hidden pieces. Once you're happy with your work, you start to pack the rest of the stuff away.
As you reach for an unused bandage, Hoffman suddenly grabs your wrist. You turn to look at him, and he looks at you, deeply into your eyes, as if to say "thank you" without actually saying it, since that wasn't really part of his nature. He then glances down briefly at your lips. He thinks you didn't notice, but you did, and you look down at his too.
There's a lot of tension in the room, and you find it extremely hot that not a word has been said in the last two, maybe three, hours. You've lost track of time, you always do when Mark is around, because nothing else matters. You start to move forward into a kiss but you stop, inches away from him. Mark looks at your lips again. Then he suddenly puts his hand on the base of your skull behind your head and grips your hair. You let out a little surprise gasp.
Then everything happens so fast.
Mark slams his lips against yours, like a man starved, his kisses are desperate and all tongues. You both lightly moan through the heavy kisses, you sit on his lap and start to drag your hand through his hair in exchange, tugging occasionally. You start grinding while on his lap, searching for more. You can feel his member through his trousers. Then you accidentally knock one the cuts on his back and he groans out in pain, however you couldn't help but notice his cock twitch as you did so, now semi erect. You both stop for a bit and share a glance, not one of humiliation but of realisation. You raise an eyebrow, intrigued, and start to purposefully play with one of his stitched wounds. Mark moans and quickly grabs your other hand that's resting on his chest.
"Stop", he commands. There's clearly some unsaid things between you and Mark. You stop and look at him, you both look at each other with need and desperation.
"I don't know how far I'll go, I can't promise I'll be gentle", Mark has danger in his eyes.
"I know", you admit. Mark was always the kind to take out a rough day at work through sex, and you had a feeling tonight was no exception. But it somehow felt different. It could be the time you've had away from each other, or whatever he experienced that night had him particularly wound up.
"Same safe word?", you ask. He nods slightly, and in a flash he's back to passionately kissing you. He lifts you up, trying to walk you to the bedroom, but can't see where he's going as he's so tied up in the moment. He slams you into a wall, you moan as the air is pushed out of you.
You break the kiss momentarily to remove your top, you must have each other now and can't wait until you're in the bedroom. Mark removes your bra, his hands replacing it. His hands are so large, one hand seems to cover your entire chest. His rough skin feels amazing on your soft breasts. You moan as you remove your underwear. Mark breaks the kiss to kick off his trousers and underwear. He catches you looking at his erection, he walks back over to you and grabs your hair.
"How do I look?", he growls in your ear. You moan and start to kiss him again.
Without warning he pushes his cock into you. You forgot how well he filled you up. He was just the right size, but girthier than average. His thickness stung a little since he slammed into you without warning, but it's a good thing you were already slick with arousal. You hold him around his neck as he's lifting you up. Your legs wrapped around his waist as he's slamming into you against the wall.
With him still inside you, he then carries you over to the kitchen table. It's a good thing you packed everything away earlier. You put your feet on the edge, with your back on the table. Mark continues to push inside of you, sweat starting to glisten down his forehead, onto his large chest. Somewhat hairy, but oh so broad. His frame and arms have always been a turn on for you. Sometimes he was self conscious about his weight but you found it extremely hot. Especially the way it felt on top of you.
You sit up, breaking his momentum briefly, as you can feel the table shake, becoming more and more unstable. You push him to the chair where he was sat as you were cleaning his wounds, and motioned for him to sit down. You straddle him like before, only this time you were completely naked. You haven't felt this powerful for a while. You start to ride him, reaching behind you to start and fondle his balls. He tilts his head back in pleasure, mouth wide open. You stop briefly to hold his jaw open, you look over him as a dribble of your spit travels into his mouth. You forcefully close his mouth to get him to swallow, and continue to ride him.
It's not often you're able to take charge, but you were enjoying it. Hoffman, even though he wouldn't admit it afterwards, likes to think he's dominant at heart, but also loves it when someone takes control.
Your hands start to trail down his back once again. You could feel a few of his stitches had begun to unravel. Mark hisses as you trace your fingers over them. You stop briefly, making sure he was okay with you going further. After no safe word, you continue to pluck open a wound. Mark pretty much jumps out of his seat, slamming into you as he does so. You both moan, the lines of pleasure and pain blurring. You start to dip your finger into the warmth, blood coating your finger and travelling down his body.
"Y/N, I'm gonna-", Mark trails off. You remove your finger, and smear the blood as you caress his face. Around his lips, his jaw, down to his neck.
Mark is VERY into this, he's a massive masochist and seeing you like this has his mind going into overtime. What traps could you come up with? Maybe you could come with him during the next game, getting off on your hard work, putting each other in a trap, and seeing others in them. Watching them struggle in your game, totally oblivious to you and Mark having the steamiest sex of your lives over the monitor.
At this thought, he starts to cum inside of you. The biggest orgasm of his life. You continue to ride his orgasm out of him, the amount of cum you can feel inside you also triggers your orgasm. Mark slams you down by your shoulders to get you to stop moving as his penis slowly grows softer and twitches inside of you. You collapse into Mark's chest, both of you breathless.
You both sit there for a moment, taking everything in. Mark still inside you, his cum leaking out onto the chair, onto the floor, mixing with the blood from his wound that you opened.
You eventually move and mention that you should clean him back up. Mark reluctantly agrees. Neither of you decide to put your clothes back on, as you start to disinfect the table and open your first aid kit again. You mend his stitches and clean him up, and Mark is giving you that look again. Looking at your lips, totally helpless. You sigh as you realise you'll be stitching him back up once again.

Three Words
Another Buck/Tommy fic! (Not a Bean one though, one will be out soon 😉)
Summary: Tommy has been waiting months to hear Buck say those three words. (I love you)
~~~~~~~~~~~~
When they first started dating, Tommy told Buck that they could take their relationship at whatever pace he wanted.
And he meant that wholeheartedly.
Sure, things got a little rocky after that first date, but they got through it. It was all cleared up by the second.
They were going strong. Their relationship was going strong. Their relationship was going places Tommy had never thought it would go.
Further than Tommy thought his pathetic love life would go with anyone.
After their second date (if you could call it that), at the coffee shop, they sort of came to an unspoken agreement that they would go at Buck’s pace. Tommy just hadn’t expected that to mean they would be fucking each other in bed less than 24 hours later and Buck would be dragging Tommy around Maddie and Chimney’s wedding. (No one had told him that Buck’s sister was engaged to Chimney!)
Both Eddie and Bobby had told him that Buck liked to do things fast, he didn’t really understand how fast they meant at the time, but he had no problem with it.
Later, Hen and Karen might have threatened him a little at the medal ceremony, but backed off when Tommy told them he was going at Buck’s pace.
So for the next six months, that was what Tommy did, go at Buck’s pace. When Buck wanted to introduce Tommy to his parents, he went ahead with him.
When Buck gave Tommy a key to his loft, Tommy gave Buck a key to his house.
When Buck asked if Tommy minded if Jee joined them on their hike up a mountain because both her parents were called into a shift at the last minute, Tommy carried her on his shoulders the entire way.
When Buck hinted at wanting to move in together, Tommy was quick to tell him that he would start moving the furniture in his house for when Buck was ready.
Tommy was fine with going at Buck’s pace. Really, he was.
There was just one thing though.
In the last six months, he had fallen hard for Buck, and he meant hard.
He didn’t think that any of his past relationships have even gotten close to how he felt for Buck now.
He loved Evan Buckley, from his little birthmark on his adorable face, to his marvelous body, to his penchant for research binges, to his laugh, to his cooking skills, to his everflowing loving heart for everyone around him.
He loved Evan Buckley, now he just needed to figure out how and when to tell him.
He thought about how and when to do it for so long, Tommy started questioning himself.
What would Buck do if Tommy said it?
Tommy had told Buck he would go at Buck’s speed? What if this was too fast for him? This would bring a new stage to their relationship. What if Buck wasn’t ready for this? Should he just wait until Buck was ready? Until Buck said those three words first?
He eventually over-thought it as he did a lot of things like this, over-thinking it enough, they reached and passed their six month anniversary.
🔶 🔶 🔶 🔶 🔶
The ending credits of Jurassic Park scrolled past on the screen, Tommy looked down at Buck’s head resting on his chest. The man was passed out and spread across him. He swore that would be the last time he let Buck pick a movie out, he always fell asleep halfway through them. Tommy always told himself that everytime this happened, but he always let Buck pick out the next movie anyway.
Tommy smiled and continued slowly rubbing the hand that he had on Buck’s back. He blinked and then looked at the clock across the room. It was late, neither of them had work the next morning, but they still had plans. He needed to get to sleep soon. The remote to turn the TV off was in reach, but the lightswitch to turn off the overhead lights?
In instances like these, Tommy really wished he had Buck’s ability to fall asleep no matter the lighting conditions. It was too bright for him right now. But at the same time, Tommy knew his boyfriend was a light sleeper. If he got up now to walk the three feet to the lightswitch on the wall, Buck would wake up and it would be at least an hour of activities before either of them went to sleep again.
Maybe he shouldn’t listen to Eddie and just bite the bullet and buy a Hildy. Those things can’t be that bad. He’d be able to ring it up to turn off the lights without getting out of bed.
Tommy carefully got out of bed, moving the pillows around to disturb Buck as little as possible.
He wasn’t successful.
“Tommy?” Buck’s sleep filled voice asked as Tommy flipped the lightswitch to send the room into darkness.
“Shh,” Tommy hushed. “Just turning off the lights, go back to sleep.”
“Hmm,” Buck hummed unhappily as Tommy returned to bed, getting under the covers as pulling Buck back to where he was sleeping on his chest.
It was quiet for a couple moments, Tommy was just about to fall asleep into deep oblivion when he heard Buck speak.
“I love you,” Buck mumbled into Tommy’s ear. Hearing those words, Tommy tensed and turned his head to look into Buck’s eyes. He couldn’t exactly see them right now, it was too dark, but he could feel the stare.
Those weren’t words Buck mumbled half asleep or only half paying attention. He meant those words.
He loved Tommy.
“Oh, thank God,” Tommy mumbled as he angled his neck and kissed Buck on the top of his head.
Buck hummed in slight confusion and he went up onto an elbow and looked down at Tommy, silently asking for an explanation of what Tommy meant by that comment.
“I’ve been waiting weeks for you to say that,” Tommy said as he sat up and quickly moved around Buck, pinning him onto the bed lying on his back.
“Oh?” Buck hummed, taunting him.
It seemed Buck would be getting exactly what he wanted that night.
Tommy leant down. “I love you too,” he mumbled into Buck’s ear before he pulled him into a deep kiss.
I love you all immensely. Take care. 💖
Your turn to present comes and you stand up at the board, your budget projected as the bulb nearly blinds you. You point to the numbers and the accompanying graphs, going over each as best as you can. Your life might be an utter and complete mess but you know numbers. Your job is simple as simple gets and you can go over this ad nauseam.
Still, your focus is splintered as you find yourself stalling here and there. Each time you meet Mr Hansen's sparkling blue eyes, you nearly swallow your own tongue. You can't help but think of what you did in his office. Of what Pete would say when found out. And he will because you've never been a good liar and this isn't a secret you can keep. You just don't know how to say it.
He won't care that you were in a bind, that you were disgusted by yourself, that you didn't want to do it. You still did it. You betrayed your marriage. Even if it is a bit rocky, you made a vow. Despite the friction, you love Pete. You wouldn't have stuck around this long otherwise. It's just a rocky patch. Or it was, until this.
Your eyes linger on Hansen as he leans back in his chair and lets his gaze drift towards his lap. You gulp and look to the board, pointing out the projection as you finish up. You wallow in a momentary silence before you retreat and reclaim your seat at the conference table. You were absolutely certain to be as far from him as possible, though that was easy as all the executives cluster together.
You keep your attention at the front of the room. These things are always dull. You're not high up enough to care about more than your own piece in the puzzle. You don't make the big decisions, you just show what's there.
You sip from your cold coffee. You feel your phone vibrating in your back pocket. Not now. You ignore it and tap your fingers on the table.
You glance around and once more find Hansen’s attention on you. He should be more concerned with the marketing presentation going on. You hide any tinge of emotion; irritation, confusion, humiliation, a peer up at the front.
The meeting ends just as you catch yourself nodding off. You shuffle out with the rest of the bodies and find your desk, nearly keeling over as you sit. You got what, an hour's sleep. You don't know if you can make it through.
Your phone goes off again. Great, what is it now? You really can't handle anything else today. Your morning has already drained you of everything you have left.
Shit, it's the school. You get up and answer your phone, marching between desks to find a quiet place. You dip down towards an empty meeting room and shut yourself in. The secretary tells you Malik got sick in gym class. Today? You sigh and promise you'll be there as soon as you can.
You put your hand to your forehead and yawn as you hang up. If you have any more caffeine, you're going to explode. You just need to get through it. You always do. Not for you, for the kids. That's what it's about.
You turn and find the door open, a figure against the frame. You could like and say you're surprised but you know Mr. Hansen isn't the type to let you sink in shame. He wants to rub it in.
"You know, I didn't think witches were real but you got magic hands, toots--"
"Sir," you fight to keep your voice even, "I just got a call from my kids' school--"
"Ew, let's not with the kids," he flicks his fingers dismissively, "I'm talking about us."
"Us?" You frown, "sir, please, I have to--"
"That husband of yours, he's lucky. Is that from practice or are you just that desperate to get your hands on some prime meat?"
You give him a look, the kind you give when you're trying not to yell. As a point, you don't raise your voice. He gives a shiver as if shaking off a chill.
"I'm teasing. I'm just... let's turn this thing around, honey. You got your budget, I got... off. And now we can get along. So, let me be a nice guy and say, go, get your kid, be a good mommy, and be back bright and early tomorrow."
You stutter. You don't quite believe him. It feels like a test. A trap. He smirks and lets his hand wander down his stomach. He grips himself through his pants.
"Unless, you want more--"
"I really have to go," you squeeze your phone, "my son--"
"Alright, alright, ugh, boring," he sneers, "I don't wanna hear about the kids."
"Um, okay," you near him, "thank you, Mr. Hansen."
"Yeah yeah," he backs out of the doorway, "don't stress it." He steps aside as you go into the hallway, "unclench a little."
As you turn, you stumble, a sudden clap against your ass throwing you off balance. You steady yourself but don't look back as he retracts his hand. Your eyes are wide, your steps stiff and stunted as you tell yourself to just keep going.
Shit, this is a problem.
Your job is stressful enough. The last thing you ever wanted was to be Hansen’s next target. It’s not something you ever worried about. You’re too old, too flabby, and too worn out. When he realises that, he’ll be back to the likes of Kendra. You don’t know who you should pity more; yourself or her.
You don't have capacity right now. One thing at a time. Get Malik home, then you can figure out how exactly your life is going to implode.
🗄️
You get Malik on the couch, bundled up watching his favourite cartoons, as you sit and stare at your phone. You know that even if you called, Pete wouldn't pick up. He's too busy for you. Still, your anxiety eats away at you and makes you impatient. You can't even enjoy the time away from the office.
You make some soup once your son's stomach settles but yours is in worse shape. You don't have an appetite, you're restless and exhausted. You're in pieces.
You know you can't go back and change things. Hell, you couldn't have done anything different. You have a mortgage, insurance, and children to look after. You can't throw it all away on one man's ego.
Still, you did something wrong. Something unforgivable. If you think Pete hates you now, he's going to despise you. And you might just lose everything anyway.
You sit and bend over, holding your head. God, you're stupid and weak and awful. You chose this, a family, a man who doesn't care, and a job that gives you nothing but stress. You could've had a better life and never inflicted your mistake on anyone else.
"Mommy," Malik taps your shoulder, startling so you sit up too fast, nearly falling out of the chair, "mommy, the stove."
You look over at the pot boils over, hissing and bubbling. Great, now you've burnt the chicken noodle. You get up and quickly flip off the burner and move the pot to the next one.
"How about some vegetable soup, huh?" You offer, "sorry, Mal."
"Are you okay, mommy?" He pouts as he stands in his dinosaur pajamas.
"Yeah, yeah, mom's just tired," you answer, "go sit down. I'll clean this up. Then it should be time to go pick up Simone."
He mumbles and leaves you. You look at the burnt soup, curdled and filmy and black around the edges. Usually, you just want Pete home but tonight, you don't know what you're going to do when he gets in. You can be sure it'll be a sleepless night.
🗄️
You spend the evening avoiding your phone. It's easy. You sit and help Simone with her homework as Malik colours at the other side of the table. After dinner you get them washed up and in their pajamas in time for bed.
You can’t help but try to suck up every second. You don’t want to lose this. It can be hard, Pete’s long hours, your sore hips, the children’s antics. It can be utterly defeating but you don’t want to lose it all. Maybe you should’ve tried sooner to fix things, maybe if you did, Pete might believe you didn’t want to do what you did.
Once the kids are asleep, you're left to yourself but not really. You clean the kitchen and get lunches packed for the next day. You switch the laundry before you head up to bed but leave the light on as you lay down.
It’s a mirror of the night before, except you’re not the one with your tail between your legs. Pete gets home as late as ever. You want to be mad that he's only there on weekends to see the kids. Yet, you don't see much of him then either.
He comes upstairs, pushing back his hair as he enters, blanching as he sees you awake. His face falls and he runs his fingers around his stubbly lips. You don't say anything as he loosens his tie and sighs.
"Please, I don't wanna argue tonight," he says as he sheds his blazer, "it's been a long day."
"Alright," you agree, fighting not to squirm as your stomach flips. "But… I wanna talk about something."
"Look, we're almost there. The hard part's almost over," he explains as he unbuttons his shirt, "we're about to hit oil with this thing."
"I know, but… there's something we need to talk about–"
He closes his eyes and hangs his head back as he peels off his shirt. He's in good shape still. You suppose making your own hours gives you a lot of time for the gym.
"Can I take a shower first?" He huffs.
"Sure," you murmur. He's trying to wait you out, hoping you fall asleep before he's done. "Take a shower."
His brows rise and fall and he turns away as he digs in his pocket. He pulls out his phone and plugs it in, leaving it face down on the dresser. He unclasps the gold chain around his wrist and puts it in the jewelry tray with his watch. You watch his hands.
"Where's your ring?" You ask as you focus on his fingers.
"Oh, uh, fuck," he sniffs, "must've left it in my gym bag again."
"Mmm," you him and don't comment further.
You look down at your own band, twisting it on your finger as your inside rot with guilt. You have to face this. You have to be honest. As much as it hurts you. As much as it'll hurt you.
He moves around the room. He misses the hamper again, this time his underwear fall on the floor. You want to cry as more than just the weight of your confession crushes you. It’s all of it. The years of distance between you, the memory of good days far behind, what you’ll never have again.
The bathroom door shuts and you look up again. You get up, needing to walk off the excess energy. You pace in circles and wring your hands. You want to rehearse what you should say but you got nothing.
You hear the subtle buzz and pause. You go back to the bed and take your phone off the night table. Nothing. Not even a notification for that dumb matching game you played once while waiting at the doctor's office.
You set it back down and go back to your aimless circling. You hear it again and again. It's annoying. Tweaking your already addled nerves.
You look around and see Pete's phone, the edges limned in the glow of the overturned screen. You cross the room and flip it over to turn the volume down. You stop as the newest message pops across the top.
'Hey babe, can't wait for Saturday. Bikini or no suit at all?'
You read it once, twice, several times before your shock fully sets in. What? Your heart drops as you put his phone back as you found it and back away.
You sit on the bed and stare at the bathroom door. Things can always get worse, that's your bitter mantra. You swallow as your eyes brim with tears and your throat locks up. You listen to the showerhead buzz.
You were prepared to be the bad guy. To lay yourself bare and plead mercy. You psyched yourself up to face the music but you're unprepared for this.
You get up and turn off the lamp. You get into bed and face away from the bathroom, just like most nights. You pull the blanket to your shoulders and close your eyes. You measure your breaths to keep from crying. Once you start, you won't be able to stop.
When Pete finishes, you're still awake. Sleep? That's a joke. You just lay there and listen to him move around. When he comes to bed, he doesn't try to talk to you or wake you up.
You open your eyes and see the glow of his phone outlining your silhouette against the wall. You gulp, careful not to give yourself away. He groans and he types away on his phone. Right beside you… like you don't exist. You're just an afterthought for him. Just like your vows. Just like the kids.
As low as you thought you were that morning, you’ve sunk even further. Would he even care if he knew? You’re so unlovable, he probably wouldn’t even believe another man would let you touch them.
--
you returned to the lin kuei outpost hoisted on the shoulders of the neighboring rocky mountains. it was a heavy winter yet, but a meager layer of snow had curtained everything all the same. your breath was heavy as you sighed and looked at the exterior of the stronghold, smoke spilling from your mouth. it had been years since you had been back here, practicing with the lin kuei as only a young woman. you were never an initiate, but your father was a powerful man who had been good friends with the former grandmaster of the lin kuei and wanted to assist them by having you help them out. after a couple of months of training and bonding with all the other lin kuei initiates (as well as the grandmaster's sons), you had left to pursue your responsibilities. you had been burdened with far too many tasks to just remain in one place -- it pained you but you knew you had to leave to do what was required of you. not one for goodbyes (and the fact that if you had to confront the brothers about your departure, you probably would've ended up staying...), you disappeared into the midst of the dark night.
after all with great power comes......
the gates to the stronghold opened and you entered inside. it was difficult being back. how would you approach the brothers? would they still be upset at you for leaving? surely not, considering they let you back in. but what if this is a trap, a ploy to set up a mediation to get you to explain where you were all these years? thousands of thoughts swirled inside your mind but it didn't matter now. you were inside the courtyard now, watching as initiates sparred and practiced with one another. you could begin to feel the influx of raw magical energy as you walked by, prompting you to take a deep breath in and walk with your head held higher. you opened the gates to the interior to see tomas and kuai liang speaking with some of the younger initiates. kuai had his hands crossed behind his back, his eyes stern as ever as he commanded some of the younger warriors to try out a new training exercise. tomas had a small smile on his face, his arms crossed in front of his chest. they didn't notice your arrival and so you quietly walked up to them, with hands behind your back and a shy smile across your face.
tomas was the first to notice you, and his face immediately burst into a smile. "(name)!" he yelled out, excited like a puppy being adopted by an owner for the first time ever. you were originally going to keep this visit somber, but you couldn't help to keep the smile off your face. suddenly a huge urge to hug him overcomes you, and you spread your arms around the nape of his neck, pulling him in. he pats your back, exclaiming:
"i didn't realize you were going to be here so soon!"
you pull away from him, giving him a big smile. "sorry it took me so long. had a lot of stuff to get to." that smile on your face does not betray your intentions. it's the truth--you really did have a lot to get to. procrastinating and putting off the visit for as long as you did, however, was honestly not your intention.
you see kuai glance at you gently, a fond look washing over him as you peak from over tomas' shoulders.
"c'mon, i know you want in on this too," you say playfully as you beckon kuai over. he smiles kindly as he takes you into his arms.
"it's good to see you again, (name). seems that time's been treating you right," he says with his hands on his hips, admiring your character as he gazes at you from up to down. you can't help but blush, and wave away his comment.
"you guys have grown up a lot too! what have they been feeding you guys?!" you playfully ask. the two of them playfully chuckle, as tomas responds with, "been drinking my 7 glasses of milk everyday!" you give him a confused look as kuai gives him a side-eye. "pretty sure it's meant to be water, tomas. but i'm glad you're so lactose-affluent," you say playfully with a grin.
kuai takes you softly by the arm and introduces you to the other members. "everyone, this is (name). she used to train with us and it's lucky for us she wasn't officially trained as an initiate or she'd be better than all of us." his compliments cause you to blush and roll your eyes, as you give a humble bow.
"where is bi-han?" you ask, reluctantly. kuai's gaze becomes sterner and yet more cautious. "he's with some students right now. though i uhh....am not sure how receptive he will be to your....visit." you smile. "don't worry for me, kuai. i can handle the boy i used to beat in our spars." "except he's not a boy now. he's grandmaster of the lin kuei." your eyes fall to the ground. of course he was. their father died just a few years ago and now bi-han had inherited one of arcticka's greatest creations. you look back up and tomas and kuai solemnly.
"sorry i could not attend your father's funeral. i only heard about it just recently and even if i knew about it earlier, i didn't know how you guys would feel about me popping up at his service unannounced."
"you're family, (name). you were then, you still are now. nothing's changed but the time passing," he says tenderly as he rests his hand on your shoulder. you give him a smile in return and nod your head.
"thanks for the sentiment, kuai. but....let's see if your big bro shares the same sentiment." kuai and tomas share an unsettling look as they take a deep breath in. "you're welcome to try and get through to him. don't blame me if he throws an ice pick at your head."
you roll your eyes playfully. "i'm sure i'll be fine, just tell me where he is."
tomas points to the other side of the stronghold, pointing to the large training room decorated with gold and red lanterns. come to think of it, most of the stronghold was painted with evidence of the Chinese New Year's festivities. you hadn't realized that the new year had encircled so quickly. as you made your way to bi-han, you felt your heart flutter. there was no telling how he would react. what if he actually DID throw an ice pick at your head? the nerves bubbled up in your gut as the cold air outside did nothing further to ease your unrest. as you walked to the large room where bi-han was at, your eyes briskly caught a glance at the remnants of more festivities at the stronghold. you smiled softly to yourself.
at least bi-han cared enough about his initiates to host what looked like some vendors/merchants and games at the stronghold for all of them. this gesture was sweet, almost like a father providing for the children he's adopted. just like his own father, though you didn't dare to say this out loud. this thought process however, had managed to calm you down until you got to the very wide doors to the training room. you took a deep breath in before you quietly opened the doors, peering in to a room with many masked initiates sitting on the floor inside gazing up at bi-han as he fervently explained something.
you moved to the back of the room, carefully moving past the other member to get a good look at bi-han, leaning your shoulder against the wall. a few minutes passed as he wrapped up his lesson, finally catching your eye. for a ninja he wasn't much aware of your presence. but he also hadn't felt your presence in years, and you were aware of that. when his eyes met yours, he didn't look surprised like a person gazing upon a long-dead wraith but rather he looked stunned as to how you even got here. there was anger hidden behind his eyes, but at the same time....
"(name)?" it had been years but you still felt the same way when he called out your name. his voice had gotten deeper and he had changed into a grown man. your eyes explored his stature -- he was taller, his muscles were defined, and a different aura now defined him. he was no longer the softer boy you knew him to be, now he was grandmaster of earth's last defence; of course he was going to be a changed man now.
you smiled cheekily, not knowing how to react. truthfully, you didn't know how you got this far.
"hi, bi-han. i hope i didn't distract you when you were busy teaching," you speak coyly, not wanting the other initiates to overhear your WHOLE conversation. he looks down at you, almost like he's debating what to say next. you take a deep gulp and you scrape away at the skin underneath your nails, causing them to bleed. after what seems like a milennia of consideration, he furrows his brows and briskly walks past you.
you nod your head with a soft smile. you understand why he feels this way but to be honest, you're not sure whether you would've preferred this treatment or having an ice pick gone straight to your dome. the other initiates look on carefully, trying not to invoke their grandmaster's anger. before they can do anything else, they follow their grandmaster out the room.
"don't take it to heart. if you were anyone else, he probably would've frozen you solid. i'm surprised he actually went the mature route."
you turn around to see whose voice those sentences belonged to. your eyes fell upon a man wearing a yellow uniform, similar to kuai's uniform but the colours inversed. his hair is tied up almost in a ponytail and restrained by a yellow bandana across his forehead. he's a good-looking man, but an unfamiliar face.
"i'm sorry, i don't recognize you," you say as you furrow your eyebrows piecing together who this man could be.
"cyrax. i haven't seen you before here either. though kuai said that there may be a guest visiting today." he gives you a small smile and stretches out his hand so you can shake it. you give him a warm yet stern handshake. you take his hand and give him a small shake.
"i was hoping for a warmer reception from him honestly. though it was my fault for thinking he might've reacted the same way i might've towards him."
"eh, he's been cranky for the last few days. still, that makes him not snapping on you all the more interesting. are you familiar to him? personally?"
"oh, ha, no," you wave him away embarrassingly, "i used to train here with the brothers. i'm acquainted with them pretty well. just haven't seen them in years, so...."
"ahh. well, good luck with trying to get sub-zero to warm up to you. you're attempting to do the impossible." he replies with a cheeky grin, before bowing to you and leaving the room. you take a deep breath in, unsure of how you were going to get the grandmaster to liven up a little and talk to you. as the day continued, you found yourself wandering the old halls of the stronghold you used to train in. it was night-time now, and you admired the dark glow on all the new year festival decorations. they shone bright as the gold off of them reflected the moon's light. a little upset at not being able to have the reunion you wanted, you walked out to the terrace surrounding the courtyard, looking down at the dimly lit enclosure. no one was out practicing right now, causing you tp scoff to yourself. when you practiced here you went well into the late night and yet none of these new initiates hold the same respect and regard for hardwork as you did. your mind flashes back to your sparring practices with bi-han. when you both were younger, he could hardly touch you you were so fast. your hits were hard and fast, mirroring bi-han's form but you were just that much quicker. he hated admitting it, but you were just a better fighter -- though your elemental magic couldn't hold a light to his cryomancy.
before your mind wandered off to the unknown, you heard footsteps behind you making their way down the corridor. you turned to see bi-han in a dark blue/black hanfu with a few books in his arms. your breath caught in your throat as you gazed upon him. if he saw you, he was doing a great job at pretending he never did. this didn't matter to you, as you quickly hid behind one of the pillars in the terrace. he had his head down, bad idea. as he came closer to you, you waited for the perfect moment to strike before finally revealing yourself. bi-han didn't react at all and if he did, it was out of pure annoyance.
"no. you're not leaving until we speak."
"are we finished?" he says stoically, before attempting to go around you. "that was enough of us speaking."
flabbergasted, you back up quickly and block his path again.
"bi-han." you say, defeated and exhausted. you didn't come all this way to get dejected and leave without getting proper closure. if you had to move on from him, you wanted to at least clear things up with him before getting on with your life.
"did you not leave the last time? i am simply doing to you what you have done to m-us." he replies matter-of-factly.
"i'm here now aren't i? c'mon now, i know you've been dying to talk to me. i wanted to talk to you all this time!" you say coyly, throwing a playful punch at his meaty arm.
he looks a little upset, or at least his eyes and frown betray him if he was going for a stoic look.
"why now? why after all these years. you might as well return to wherever you came from," he replies lowly and yet it shows that he's hurt. your heart warms a little at the fact that you could've had this much of an impact on him. you nod your head slowly and look into the enclosure beneath you.
"i'm sorry bi-han. you know i had to leave soon. it wasn't going to be forever, even if i wanted for it to be so. and i knew......" you look down, a long distance into the ground, "if i told any of you guys i was leaving i probably wouldn't have ended up leaving." the look on bi-han's face relaxes a bit, but you can still see him holding the stress on his face. there's not much more that you can say. he was right in being upset -- if anyone else abandoned you the way that you did to him or his brothers you'd be livid. the two of you spent months with one another and yet neither of you had confessed your feelings. the tension was palpable and everyone else noticed it too, it was just confusing as to why neither of you acted on your desires. for you, it was the fear of rejection. perhaps it was the same for him as well?
you lean on the terrace on your side, gazing at bi-han. just being near him after all these years was enough of a blessing but something in you wanted more, though you would never publicly admit to this. you stop yourself at first, but then reach for his arm, carefully, almost to not startle him like he's a wild animal at bay for now but at risk of leaving at the first sign of danger. he doesn't retreat, moving his gaze from your face to your arm. you gently get a hold of his forearm, grazing your thumbs against them. he's cold, but retracts the cold from his skin so that it's back to normal temperature. you hold your gaze at his arm, almost too shy to look at his face.
"i think you've missed me all this time."
bi-han scoffs. "not in the slightest."
"then why are you so close to me?"
it's like the act is intuition. he notices how close the two of you are now and apparently his closeness has gone unnoticed because only a mere half foot now separates the two of you. he lets out a small chuckle out of annoyance and shakes his head.
"you still remain as aggravating as ever."
you put your hand on your hip.
"i apologize for upsetting the mighty grandmaster of the lin kuei." you say, coming a little closer and almost closing the already-tiny gap between the two of you.
"that can be rectified." he says, almost flirtatiously. you're a bit taken aback by his frisky comment. you thought he might've actually been offended by your comment but it seems that his playful nature has become unfamiliar to you after all these years. you place your hand gently on his cheek, caressing his cheekbones and acne scars.
"i've missed you, you know," you finally express your true feelings.
bi-han's eyes soften a little.
"i should've been here-with you....i know that i didn't exactly give you much closure bu-," before you can continue on with your tedious apology he fills the space between the two of you and kisses you with a voracious hunger you've never seen before. his nose pushes against yours and you lean into the kiss, slightly moaning. he tries to slide his tongue against you and it's almost as though the two of you are young kids again, sparring. you defend your mouth, refusing to let his tongue inside but he grabs ahold of your other arm, surprising you. taking advantage of your shock, he slips his tongue inside triggering another gentle moan from you. the two of you wrestle with your tongues, exploring the smallest crevices of one another's mouths. years of tension and pressure are finally alleviated with this kiss. you lean in for more, like a child fiending for sugar, but he pulls away to gaze in your eyes.
you take a deep breath -- that workout took a lot of your wind away from you. however, your lips still draw near his, lowkey aching for more.
"i've wanted to do that for so long..." he says, pushing his forehead against yours. "are you planning on leaving again?"
you smile brightly. so the cold-hearted grandmaster did hold a soft spot for you.
"that depends. do you want me to stay?"
he removes his hands from your wrist and brings them up to your face, reciprocating your earlier caresses.
"as long as you don't leave again."
a/n: this is so intensely self-indulgent, it's gross. please enjoy my fantasies in writing.
you’ve been with soobin since your first year of high school. high school sweethearts, as most people would refer to you. you would consider yourself pretty lucky to have kept the same boyfriend for this long.
unfortunately for the both of you, your cute love story hides a non-existent sex life. neither of you are virgins, having had an on-and-off relationship in your second/third year of dating. you’d slept around and so had he.
well, he tried to.
see, soobin, as much play as he knew he could get, his size intimidated most of his sexual partners. he’d only manage to actually fuck 2 girls in the two year rocky period of your relationship. even then it hadn’t lasted long enough for either of them to finish.
he’s got good skills in bed, he knows that. but no one else knows that. especially not you.
do you want to sleep with your long-term boyfriend? of course you do. you have since the beginning of your relationship. but his mistake of complaining about the intimidation of the other women he’d tried to seduce didn’t help you to not feel the same.
he’d tried to use his seduction tactics on you but it never got very far.
but this time, you feel ready. this time, you’re going to seduce him. you’re going to sleep with your boyfriend. no matter what it takes. you need it.
while your boyfriend worked today, you got ready for him. you bought baby pink lingerie in hopes that giving yourself an angelic appearance would appeal to him. you gave yourself blushy, sparkly makeup to give the angel look an umph. as you look at yourself in the mirror you feel quite cute. you suit soobin’s taste.
you check the clock, 10 minutes until soobin comes home. you lay out a plush blanket over the cushions of the couch. you situate yourself in a seductive position on the blanket; on your stomach, head propped up in your hands, elbows pressing your breasts together for emphasis. your legs kick around behind you, giddiness and nerves taking you over as the minutes diminish.
your heart jumps into your throat when you finally hear the jingling of your boyfriend's keys outside your front door. you momentarily wonder if this is a bad idea, but you have no time to chicken out. you swallow the lump in your throat and prepare yourself.
the door opens and in walks the love of your life. he stands frozen in the doorway when his eyes lay upon you. his eyes scan your body, the tent in his pants immediately becoming noticeable. you blush but your makeup hides it.
“hi soobin” you say in your most seductive voice. you get up from the uncomfortable position you’d been sitting in and wave over your flustered lover. he hesitates for a moment before taking his shoes off and walking towards you.
“baby, what is this? what are you doing?”
“you’ve just been so busy with work, i figured you could use some relaxation.”
you get up and stand in front of your boyfriend. you walk him backwards until he flops onto the couch. you situate yourself on his lap and place your hands on his shoulders. his hands almost instinctively rest on your thighs on either side of his hips.
“but baby, we’ve never done anything like this. why… why now?”
you run your index finger over his lips, shushing him. his mouth opens on instinct and you take his tongue between your thumb and index finger. you hold it until drool pools in his mouth and spills over his bottom lip.
“i know we’ve never done anything, but i think it’s time. we’ve been together for almost 5 years” you let go on his tongue and kiss his dampened lips. “don’t you want me?” you grind down on his lap, a groan rolling off his tongue.
“of course i do, my love” he leans his head back against the couch. this motion almost makes you cum on the spot. “but, are you really prepared enough for me? you know i’m… big.”
you nod. of course you do. that’s the whole reason it’s taken this long to get this far. “of course i know, i can feel it” you shift around again, soobin catches his bottom lip between his teeth.
“we’ll do it, but we’ll take it really slow. i don’t want to hurt you.”
at that, you connect your lips with his, his lips still messy from drooling earlier. you lick the corners of his mouth to pick up saliva that never fully escaped. he moans into your mouth as your hips roll onto him subconsciously.
his hands move to grip your ass and he gets up off the couch. you wrap your legs around his waist so he can carry you more comfortably. you press sloppy kisses on his neck as he walks to your shared bedroom.
he places you down on your bed softly. he pulls his shirt over his head and comes down to hover over you. “baby, i know i said i wanted to take it really slow, but i want to fuck you so bad right now.”
he ghosts his hands over your pretty pink bra and sighs. he cups your breasts and presses them together. he considers asking you if he could try fucking them, but he decides to leave that for another time. there’s a better focus right now.
he slides his fingers under the waistband of your underwear and slides them off you slowly. he presses your knees apart and slides his fingers over your weeping hole. he slides one finger in and you gasp, your hands coming up to his shoulders for something to ground yourself.
he adds one more, and then a third. you’re trembling at this point. you can barely take three of your boyfriend’s long fingers. are you going to be able to take the monster between his legs?
he adds a fourth and final finger which sends you tumbling over the edge. you orgasm with an abrupt cry of soobin’s name. your shaky hand grabs his wrist to get him to stop his ministrations.
“okay, my baby, do you want it raw?” he shimmies out of his pants and underwear. your breath catches in your throat. you’ve seen soobin naked many times before. but his… monster fully hard makes you clench around nothing. out of arousal and out of fear.
“yes, raw. please” you scramble to reach into the drawer and pull out a brand new bottle of lube. “please, use this. easier slide and stretch” he nods.
he pushes your head back with his finger on your forehead. you hear the cap on the lube open and he slathers his length in it. he looks up at you for last confirmation. you nod, biting your lip.
his tip brushes your sopping hole and he pushes in bit by bit. he’s barely in past the tip and you’re shaking like a leaf. when he finally bottoms out, you feel like you’re going to explode. you peek down and see the outline of him in your lower abdomen.
you brush your hand over the bulge, a whine slips out of his throat. the stretch stings through your whole body. but it’s manageable.
“please move, soobin” you whine, shifting a little to get some friction. he pulls all the way out to the tip before slamming back in. you let out shaky breaths as your beloved boyfriend sets a delicious pace.
“my god, baby. you’re so small under me” his arms shake next to your head from using them to hold himself up. “big- ah, you’re so big soobin” your breathing is so rapid that it could be mistaken for hyperventilation.
soobin’s finger trails it’s way to your clit, the pad of his finger rubbing fast circles. you wrap your arms around him and pull his head down to kiss him. your tongues clash and you nibble on the end of his lightly.
“baby, baby, baby, fuck” the chant of the pet name, the grip his left hand has on your hip and the circles being drawn on your clit by his right pointer finger sends you over the edge.
the sudden clench from your orgasm trigger’s soobin’s own orgasm. he spills himself inside you, wrapping his arms around your waist, trying to get as close to you as physically possible.
his sweaty body sticks to you as he trembles. he kisses your collarbone as he breathes heavily.
“i love you so much baby, fuck.”
he pulls out of you to watch his own seed spill out of you. he grabs a handful of tissues to clean you off. he hands you your underwear and you pull them on.
he pulls his own boxers back on and climbs into bed next to you, wrapping his long arms around you.
“did i hurt you?” he asks. you can hear the genuine worry in his voice.
“i’m okay, soobin.”
you curl yourself around him and close your eyes. his soft breathing slowly lulls you to sleep.
finally, almost five years of fear is over.
Alright @undertheopensky and @violet27writes (hope you don’t mind the tag! Sorry!)
This one is for you guys 😂
Part two to this fic!
Can be read separately but will make more sense if you read that one first.
Summary:
Time and Four have Issues as the rest of the chain tries their best to get their resident skyloftian back.
6358 words!
Warnings for torture, violence, mentions of death.
~~~~
Sky takes a slow breath, his return to consciousness rather unpleasant.
His head aches, a dull thrum deep inside his skull.
Weak coughs rattle in his chest, and he a metallic, coppery taste lingers in his mouth.
He’s pretty sure he’s laying on the ground, but it seems… rocky. Tilting and moving and rolling underneath him… as if he’s on a boat.
His head pounds.
His tongue is bleeding… had he bitten it?
He… right… he’d been captured… He’d heard Four screaming his name… Four! He’d head Four screaming- he tries to sit up and immediately collapses back down, floor swaying underneath him.
“Four?” He groans, moving his head off the rough, hot wood. “Four? Smithy? Time?”
He wants to look around, to see if they’re with him, to see if they’re ok, but he’s too weak.
He takes a slow breath.
“Four?” He pleads, jolting when metal clatters.
“You’re awake, good! Hate to think we’d killed you before we got to have our fun! Those other two didn’t last long.”
He manages to look up, finding one of the people who captured them.
Shakes his head, straining from the effort of looking up.
A laugh. Cold and harsh, no humor in it.
“The little one was weak. All bravado until we got him figured out. He wasn’t so brave when his organs were being removed!”
His blood boils at the thought of them hurting Four, face twisting into a glare.
“I’ll kill you.” He promises, forcing himself to sit up and look at the face properly. He’s going to remember this guy and kill him for laying a finger on his friends-
Another laugh.
“I wish you the best of luck.”
And he starts walking away.
“I’ll kill you!” He screams, unsure of where the sudden strength is coming from. But he’s grateful for it. “I’m going to kill you, you hear me?! You’ll pay for their blood with your own! I’m going to kill you!”
He has to pause, out of breath now. Slumps back again, tears burning in his eyes.
They can’t be gone… they… no.
No, they’re the strongest people he knows, Four and his unwavering bravery, unshakable Four. And Time, unwavering and confident… no.
He refuses to believe it- they’re trying to break him.
So he takes a slow breath, scrubs his face off, and lets the self pity wash away into fury.
~~~~
“How’s that cut on your stomach feeling?” He asks, undoing the bandages on Four’s bicep. Brushes his scarf out of the way, too.
“Sore,” Four admits in a volume just above a whisper. He doesn’t think the kid’s talked in full volume- or even half volume- since he woke up for good. “But not terrible.”
“That’s good, these are looking a lot better too.”
“Can we take the stitches out of my thigh?” The smith asks quietly, and he pauses.
Chews his lip- the answer is probably not, but he doesn’t want to just say that. So… “We’ll look at it in a minute.” He decides on, and Four nods.
Hyrule inspects the four slices on the smith’s calf, murmuring softly that they’re healing well.
Four doesn’t like those cuts. Not at all. All the deliberate cuts have four of them- the ones on his calf, on his arm, his bicep, and the four deep gashes on his thigh that he’s honestly still worried about.
He’s sure the four cuts and Four’s namesake isn’t just a coincidence. Something in particular happened with those ones.
“Can I ask-” he starts gently, but the kid interrupts.
“No.” Four says quietly, looking away.
“Four, buddy, we need to know-”
“I don’t want to talk about it.”
And they let it go.
A few minutes of silence as they clean, rebandage, note the progress and areas of concern- until Time walked into the room.
Four’s whole demeanor changes instantly, tensing up, face going stony.
Both he and Hyrule pause nervously, waiting for the explosion…
Time’s gaze flicks between the three of them, then slowly steps into the room.
“How-” Time’s voice cracks and the old man pauses to clear his throat. “How are you doing? Those… healing up ok?”
Four’s eyes are ice cold, not even sparing him a word.
Just ignores him, staring determinedly at the cuts over his bicep. He’s finished cleaning them, careful of the forming scabs over them.
“These are healing well.” He says again, if only to make Four feel… better.
It’s disheartening to see the kid so defeated.
Four just nods, expression unreadable.
“Let’s leave the bandages off tonight. Let it air out.” He suggests softly, and Four nods again.
Just looks… so worn down.
“Ok… Rulie?”
“Yep, looking good here. Cleaned and healing well.”
“Good, let’s look at the ones on your thigh.”
Four nods again and scoots his pants down, shifting the fabric of his underclothes up to reveal the deep cuts.
“How are those, any changes?”
A shake of the head.
He gently inspects the cuts, looking for signs of infection, scabbing, straining or pulling stitches…
“Looks good. Want to take these out?”
It’s a bit early, but… they could get away with it if Four wants. He’s desperate to get a smile out of the kid.
He only gets a shrug in response.
“You asked earlier.” He pushes a bit. “Do you want to take them out?”
A long second, then Four nods. “Yes.”
“Alrighty. Want me to help you, or you want to do it?”
Four holds up a trembling hand in response, answering that question.
“Well. That answers that, then.” He says lightly, accepting the small scissors that Hyrule hands him.
He doesn’t get a smile. Just a sad flick of the eyes in response.
~~~~
“There you are, think that’s good.” He says, tightening the bandages around Four’s thigh.
Four stands to adjust his clothing, then looks up at him.
“Thank you.” The teenager whispers, and he nods.
“Yeah. Anytime, Smithy. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do, alright?”
Four nods, drifting to the door.
“Four-” Time tries, but Four ignores him again.
He and Time watch Four slowly leave the room, shoulders hunched.
Time sighs slowly, sinking down into a chair.
“I see you’ve made progress with him.” He says, raising an eyebrow.
“I don’t know what else to do.” Time says flatly. “He won’t talk to me.”
“You can’t force him.” He shrugs, moving over to the desk. Time sighs from the other side of the room.
“Did you notice Four was limping?” He asks, genuinely curious if anyone else has noticed.
“What?” Time asks quickly. Apparently not.
“Yep. Had a limp. Right knee. Hiding it well, but it’s hurting him.”
“Is his knee injured or accommodating for…”
“His ribs? I don’t know. We need to leave tomorrow, we can’t risk another day. Take the five of us, search the place top to bottom, not leaving until he’s found…”
“If his ribs are hurting him from walking he might just be accommodating to that.”
“Yeah.” He offers offhandedly, not really paying attention anymore. His mind is on their plan, frowning over the map of the base they’d sketched out. What can they do better than last time?
Things had gone wrong quickly last time- the three of them hadn’t been together, they didn’t get all of them into the base, Legend had been discovered, and Four…
He tries not to think about how bad Four’s injuries were. The way they fought to keep him breathing, to keep him alive.
They weren’t expecting any of them to be that injured. Banged up, sure. Some serious injuries, if they were unlucky. That?
They hadn’t even brought a potion- glass was… noisy. That’s a mistake they won’t be repeating when they get Sky out.
He shakes himself out of the unpleasant thoughts, focusing on what he can control now. Their plan.
“We have to assume security is going to be increased… should we brute force it..? We don’t have the numbers. Stealth mission… Wild, Legend… Hyrule? Twi will insist on going, I’m going to insist on going… is five too many?” He mutters under his breath, letting his gaze drift around the room.
Time understands he’s more talking to himself than to him, and he appreciates the quiet.
“Four’s gonna be pissed when I tell him he’s not coming… but we can’t take him. Hmm…”
It’s late. He can worry about this tomorrow- he needs some sleep to clear his mind.
He sighs, setting the quill down and standing.
Time glances up at him, looking exhausted.
“Get some sleep, Sprite,” He says softly, dabbing his inky fingers on the parchment so he doesn’t stain anything. “You look exhausted.”
“You-” Time starts, but he cuts the man off.
“I’m just going to check on Four, and then I’ll be heading to bed myself in a minute.”
Time nods with a sigh, standing and blowing out the lanterns in the room with him.
“Goodnight, Captain.” Time says quietly, and he gives a small nod as they exit the room together.
“Goodnight, Time. Sleep well.”
~~~~
His stomach rumbles as he walks down the hall, reminding him suddenly that he’d completely forgotten dinner.
So he alters his destination to the lobby of the inn, finding both of his desired goals- a plate of sandwiches Wild had made, and the smith he’d been looking for.
And a bonus- the rancher, who blinks up at him in surprise.
Four’s… dozed off on Twi’s lap.
Twi makes a slashing motion across his throat, the meaning coming across clearly: you wake him, you die.
He nods his understanding, heading to the plate of sandwiches Wild had made for dinner hours ago and taking one.
Studies Four, a task made difficult by the fuzzy blanket engulfing him.
Slow, gentle rise and fall of his chest… lips slightly parted, small hands lightly gripping the fabric of Twi’s tunic, head resting just over the rancher’s heart. Shifting slowly every so often, giving a sleepy mumble every so often.
“He alright?” He asks, and Twi sighs softly.
Makes a weird shrugging gesture, one arm gently wrapping around the smithy.
“I… I don’t know, Wars. He’s a mess.”
He nods with a sigh.
Four has been a mess since he woke up for good.
Barely sleeping, barely eating, refusing to rest from his near fatal injuries, refusing to talk about what had happened unless he thought it could help Sky…
Talking to himself, zoned out all the time, getting his attention was difficult, getting him to do something he didn’t want to do was impossible. Rest his ribs and relax for an hour? Nope.
Sleep for the night? Not happening.
Eat something for dinner? Don’t even think about it.
If you pushed the kid at all? You were on his ‘I don’t like you’ list for a good day or two.
Unless you were Time, who seems to have a permanent place on that list.
The kid could barely stand to be in the same room as their leader- he sees this causing a lot of problems if this continues.
But for now the kid sleeps- somewhat restlessly, he admits, but still sleeping.
He scarfs down another sandwich, ignoring Twi’s raised eyebrow, thinking back to the last time he ate. Did he eat lunch? Yes, he must have, it was… it…
Well… ok, did he eat breakfast? Did he… sleep last night?
No wonder he’s so exhausted.
He blinks slowly, shaking his head at himself. He’s a mess. He stands with a yawn, eyes finding Twi.
“I need to get to sleep, you want any help with him or something? Getting him to bed?”
“Nah, I’ve got him. Thanks, Cap. Sleep tight.”
“You, too, Rancher.” He nods, heading down the hall, finding his room, flopping onto the bed and crashing almost immediately.
~~~~
“What’s with the urgency, Cap?” Twi asks as he walks in with Legend.
“Plan to get Sky back.” He answers, and all the heroes perk up.
Even Four focuses on him long enough to meet his eyes, then slowly returns to staring out the window.
Now that everyone’s in the room and he’s got all their attention, he starts explaining his plan.
“Ok. Plan is to go tonight- Wild, Hyrule, Me, Twi, and Legend. We’re going stealth rather than force, so let’s try to make this an in and out entry. Hopefully no combat.”
“I want to go.” Four says quietly.
He takes a slow breath, meeting the kid’s eyes.
“Not happening. Wild, you’re good at stealth and can offer us stealth potions. We’re going to need those, the ones that last as long as you can manage. We’re going to split and search, Wild and Twi on the bottom floor, Me and Hyrule will take the ground level-”
“Hyrule and I.” Someone corrects- Twi.
“Oh, can it.” He rolls his eyes, but he’s smiling. “Legend, your job is to use all those fancy tools and tricks of yours to figure out if there’s any secret rooms or anything they could be hiding him in.”
“I want-”
He meets Four’s eyes and holds his gaze.
“Four, for the sake of your safety, no. You’re recovering, you’re exhausted, I understand you want to come with us, but your ribs are still busted, your wrist is weak, you’re in pain- fighting is going to be a challenge for you.”
“But the goal is to not be in a fight-” Four tries, and he smiles softly.
“That doesn’t guarantee there won’t be one, Smithy. You’re not coming with us. I’m sorry.”
For a second he thinks Four’s going to cry.
Then the smithy’s eyes dart away and the kid slumps in his seat.
A long moment of silence.
He addresses the group once again. “We’re leaving in six hours- nightfall. More security, but less general activity. Get what you need, eat a bite, whatever. Meet back here at nine chimes.”
Some nods, and they all disperse.
Both the smith and the rancher linger, Twi raising an eyebrow at him after glancing at Four.
Expecting an argument, he waits for the smithy to talk first- but the kid just slowly slides out of his seat and carefully makes his way out the door and down the hall with a sharp sniffle.
He makes a mental note to check on the kid in a minute.
Glances at Twi, waiting for the rancher to speak.
“He had a panic attack earlier.”
His heart sinks. “Four?”
“Yep. Kept saying… you know. What he’s been saying. Sky’s dead and there’s… no point in…”
Two trails off, and they stand in a horrible silence.
“Well.” He sighs slowly, “I was about to go talk to him anyway. Maybe…” he trails off.
“Yeah.” Twi says quietly.
Then- “Do you really think-”
“No.” He says firmly. He refuses to consider it. “Sky… no. He’s fine. They didn’t kill Four, they didn’t kill Time… I think he’s alive. They want information, and… Sky doesn’t have it. He’s gonna be in rough shape, but he’s going to be alright.”
They don’t mention the horrible minute Four wasn’t breathing.
Another long silence.
“Well…” he starts, mind going back to the smith.
He makes to leave, but Twi hesitantly takes his arm and stops him. “Wars… this is going to work, right?”
Taking a deep breath, he musters a smile. The confident, easy going one he was known for back in the day. “If everything goes to plan.”
Twi nods, unconvinced. “I don’t know what it’ll take to break that kid, but I don’t want to see it. This has to work.”
“It will,” he promises, though they both know it’s empty words.
~~~~
Four is a lump of blankets on the bed of his room when he gently pokes his head in after receiving a small ‘hm?’ When he’d knocked.
“Hey, buddy, you doing ok?” He asks softly, making his way to the bed.
The lump of blankets rustles, making room for him to sit.
He does so with a groan as his knees ache, stretching out and laying on the bed.
Four’s frozen for a moment, but slowly scoots closer.
“C’mere,” He says quietly, and Four shifts to slowly nestle into his side. He’s not a touchy person, but Four needs a hug. He can manage for a moment or two.
His arms gently wrap around the kid, rubbing his back with a yawn.
“You in pain?” He yawns, only getting another rustle from the lump of blankets.
Four clearly doesn’t want to talk, so he lets him be. Just rubs his back slowly, the kiddo slowly cuddling back, small but toned arms wrapping around him.
His eyes close for a moment, giving another yawn.
He’s never been very relaxed with physical contact, but he finds himself enjoying the relaxation.
Four somehow seems to realize this, or perhaps it’s merely a habit when Four slowly starts drawing small circles into his back.
Tracing little loops, eventually switching to what he assumes is letters and words, continuing even when his hand stops and he’s gone still, savoring every moment.
Eyes closed, until he’s drifting… drifting…
“Captain?” A voice says softly, and his eyes flutter blearily. Not wanting to be awake, he slowly sighs and curls into the blankets around him more.
“Wars, hey, time to start getting ready.” The same voice says gently, and he sighs again. Gives a mumble that even he’s not sure what he’s saying.
There’s a soft laugh, a hand touching his shoulder-
He snaps awake, shoving the hand off him, heart rate spiking panickedly in his chest.
“Hey… sorry, we’re getting ready to leave.” Twi offers quietly, and he nods slowly, trying to calm his breathing down.
Glances down at Four, ignoring Twi’s second apology. The smith is still sleeping, hair all in his face.
“Leaving… yeah… what time is it?” He says as he blinks away the grogginess, standing carefully.
“Almost nightfall. Eight and a half chimes. You should eat, we’ve still got a while.”
His eyes linger on the kid on the bed- despite Four’s insistence, he couldn’t convince himself that Four was of age.
“Wars, hey, you fell asleep, that’s all. We’re going to get Sky back. Are you alright?” Twi asks softly.
“I- yeah. Yeah, sorry.” He says, shaking his bleariness off. “Just… don’t remember falling asleep.”
It’s easier than explaining he fell asleep with Four cuddling him and the kid was at the opposite side of the bed when he woke up.
He looks back at the bed. Four’s… still asleep. Breathing slowly, lips slightly parted, face peaceful…
He shakes his hesitation off, following the rancher out of the room.
~~~~
Fifteen minutes.
He starts strapping his armor to his body.
Laces his boots.
Straps his sword and shield to his back.
One knife on both arms, one in his boot.
“Please let me come.” Four whispers, and he jumps.
Looks at the teenager, sitting up on the bed, looking miserable.
Hopeless.
He moves back to the bed, taking a seat next to the kid. Four’s eyes slowly find him.
“Do you trust me?” He asks softly instead of giving the response Four knows he’s going to get.
Soft grey eyes blink at him.
A small nod.
He reaches and gently takes Four’s hand.
“Four, buddy. I’m gonna get him back. I promise you. I’m not leaving without him. When I get back tonight Sky is going to be with me. I promise you that.”
Ten minutes.
“I’m worried about you, smithy. I think you’re pushing away what you went through to focus on Sky.”
Four looks away.
Swallows, blinking.
“I want to help you, buddy.” He practically whispers. “But I don’t know how. Do you trust me? For real?”
Four looks him in the eye again, nodding.
With much more confidence this time.
“I’m glad.” He says quietly, patting Four’s arm gently. “I trust you, too, you know. I’m not leaving you behind for anything you did. Or because I don’t trust you, or… or anything. I want you here because I’m worried sick about you. That’s all. So… can you do me a favor while I’m gone?”
Four nods slowly, blinking again.
“Eat something for me. Drink some water. Clean your wounds off, see how they’re doing, maybe even take a bath. Take some time to take care of yourself.”
Another nod.
He offers a smile, and almost gets one in return.
It’s the best he’s gotten since he got the smithy back.
“Thanks.” He says, patting the smith’s shoulder.
“Be safe.” Four whispers, and he nods now.
Offers a little smile, walking to the door.
“Safe is my middle name.”
He swears he hears the tiniest laugh before he closes the door, leaving Four behind.
~~~~
He’s sitting against the wall, pressing his forehead to the cold stone.
The guards open the cell door, carrying his food for the night, and he waits.
Waits for the one to get closer… grabs the neck of his uniform, scowling.
Shoves him roughly against the wall, using his forearm to cut off his oxygen.
“You’re going to tell me where my friends are,” he says calmly, despite the rage burning through him. “And maybe I’ll consider letting you live. Do we have a deal?”
He’s weaker than he’d like- woozy, not quite steady, hunger and pain making him less aware than he’d like.
But this is his chance- and by the goddess is he going to take it. His hand slowly finds the concealed weapons the guard has- a knife, a heavy but short club-type thing…
Takes the knife, tossing the other thing away.
“Good.” He releases some of the pressure on the guard’s neck. He feels no guilt as the man wheezes and coughs. This is the same one who bragged about torturing Four.
“I don’t know.” The man rasps shakily. “They’re just- gone. We tortured the little one- we were attacked afterwards. It was- it was chaos.”
Another long coughing fit.
“Your friends were gone. The boss was furious- we might’ve killed the small one.”
His hand trembles, knife nicking the man’s throat.
A drop of blood runs down the guard’s neck.
Before he can reply, he’s shoved roughly.
Losing balance in his weakened state, stumbling away, and something cracks over his head. He gasps, knife plunging into something soft-
For a second, he’s blind. Only seeing white, his knees hit the ground, nausea clenching in his stomach-
Ringing.
Loud ringing.
He slowly scoots to find the corner of the cell as he hears sounds of a struggle through the ringing- metal on metal of swords clashing, a pained grunt-
“Sky! Sky, Sky, hey… hey, talk to me, buddy, where are you hurt?”
“Wars..?”
“Yeah. Yeah, I’m here, Sky. I’ve got you. Where are you hurt? Drink this, bud.”
A cool bottle is nudged to his lips, hands easily moved when he attempts to push it away.
“Where’s… others?”
“Shh… drink.”
He takes a sip, sighing softly as the pounding in his head fades slowly. The ringing fades slowly. His vision clears, revealing a dusty and slightly bloody friend.
The body of his captor on the floor next to them, unmoving.
His knife sticking out of the little space between pieces of armor.
“Most of us are here, we got Four and Time, they’re alright. Promise. You just drink that, Sky. Rest up.”
He slowly finishes the potion, feeling much better afterwards. Achy and exhausted for sure, but… no longer feels like he’s burning from the inside out.
“Mm…” he tries, but his lips don’t really work.
“Good…” Wars says softly, hand slowly reaching out but backing away at the last minute. “Let’s get you to the inn, yeah? You’re safe now. I’ve gotcha.”
“Wars?! Hyrule?!”
“In here! I’ve got him!” Wars calls, making his head pound again.
“W’rs… Four?” He repeats, and Wars shushes him gently.
“He’s safe, Sky, I promise.”
He blinks grime out of his eyes, forcing himself to squint at the captain.
Legend runs into the room, kneeling next to him.
“Hey… hey, Sky.” Legend says softly, and he manages a small smile.
“Hey, Lege… how… y’doin’?”
“Good, really good, you alright? You hurt?”
“ ‘ve… been better.” He confesses, gratefully slumping into Legend’s arms when the veteran carefully scoots him away from the cold wall.
“I got him a potion, he doesn’t seem to have any serious injuries…” Wars is saying softly, and he can hear more voices slowly adding to the chorus.
Chorus? Singing… Zelda sings… he misses Zelda.
Zelda… he ought to write to her again, it’s been a while… because he was captured…
Hm. He probably shouldn’t tell her that, though.
“You can rest, Sky.” A voice whispers softly, and he manages a drowsy nod before giving in to the pull of sleep.
~~~~
“I got him a potion, he isn’t injured too bad anymore, he just needs some rest and food. Let’s get him back, we’ve been here too long.” He says, and the little group nods and readies themselves quickly.
It’s an easy trip out, to all their surprise. Sneaking past their security is… not difficult, and they only guard the cells. With little activity going on around the base, getting out unnoticed is easy.
There’s absolutely no urgency to get back to the inn like there was with Four. Sky… is… well, mostly ok.
Not really all that injured, as far as they can tell.
And he’d already had a potion.
Sky dozes off in Twi’s arms as they walk, having eaten some spare snacks and water they’d had when they got out of the base.
Not much, but more than the knight’s probably had in days.
The master sword is strapped to his back, and he has the oddest temptation to draw the sword.
His mind itches, unsatisfied with the results. He feels like he’s missing something- something important.
But Sky is with them, he’s fed and healed and sleeping gently, they have the master sword… nothing is wrong.
The skyloftian twitches.
It’s a quiet walk back to the inn.
They walk in the door, scanning Sky over for the hundredth time, meeting the others in the lobby as they walk in.
“He’s alright, he’s-”
Four’s at his side in an instant, eyes flickering over Sky, hand reaching out to gently brush over the Skyloftian’s shoulder.
“We’re guessing a nasty concussion, broken ribs, starvation and malnutrition, dehydration-”
“He has a head injury, look at his arms, put him down-”
And that’s when the seizure happens.
Twi yelps, immediately setting Sky down, Four practically shoves all of them away from the man, forcing them all to watch helplessly as Sky convulses.
“Stop!” Four says quickly when he tries to move toward his friend, and he freezes.
And they wait- not too long, until Sky slowly stops twitching and goes still.
“Sky?” Four asks softly, slowly kneeling next to the skyloftian. Blue eyes find Four slowly.
He moves next to Four, and the smithy lets him this time.
“Hey, Sky, how you feeling? You ok?” He asks softly, noting how confused the man looks.
“Mhm… ‘m ok.” Sky mumbles, eyes flicking to him before back to Four.
Four’s holding Sky’s hand… checking his pulse. Eyes lingering on his chest, watching for rise and fall…
“Sky? Can you answer some questions for me?” Four asks softly, and Sky nods.
“Good… where are you right now?”
“An… an inn. We were in the cell… Wars n Legend got me…”
“Good. Let’s get you a potion, alright? How are you feeling?”
He’s got a potion in his hands in a flash, handing it to the smithy. Four nods his thanks, eyes still on Sky.
“Just… sore. Tired.”
“Weak? Lightheaded, dizzy?”
“No.” Sky answers, and Four nods again.
Offers the potion, slowly getting to his feet.
Sky sips at it slowly, still seeming really out of it.
“Think he’s alright.” Four says quietly, looking at the ground. “That’s common after a seizure. And he had a head injury… not surprised he had one. Get that potion into him and let him sleep.”
And the smith is gone, out the door of the inn.
~~~~
It’s a long night.
Four comes back with a thick book about seizures, sitting in the room Sky’s taken with him. The kid doesn’t sleep at all, and he doesn’t have the heart to try to force the teenager when he’s not sleeping either.
So they’re both exhausted when it’s morning.
He glances at the door when he hears it open, meeting Time’s gaze. “Morning, Sprite.”
“Morning, Captain.” Time says distractedly, looking at Four. “Morning, Smithy. How’s Sky?”
Four’s eyes don’t move from the man on the bed.
“I don’t want to talk to you.” The smith says in a whisper.
Time steps into the room and closes the door. “I’m sorry to hear that. I’d quite like to talk with you, though, and you’ve been refusing for days.”
He holds his breath, the tension in the room unbearable. But the silence lingers- neither one says anything.
“Four, I’m sorry.” The old man says quietly, not moving from the door.
In case Four tries to escape.
“You’re not.” The smith mutters.
Time sighs deeply, eye closing. “Ok. I’m not. I wasn’t about to watch you die when Sky-”
“Shut up.” Four whispers, eyes flicking briefly to the door.
“Four,” he pleads, and the kid jumps. “You don’t even know what happened. Sky wasn’t in the cell when we found Time, he wasn’t with you, you were actively bleeding out, we looked for him briefly but-”
“You should’ve found him, no one cares if I-”
“BUT chances were he was in much better condition than you were!” He continues over the smith.
“You didn’t know that.” Four says, voice flat.
The kid’s fighting tears back. Good- the kid needs to process things somehow. If this is how it’s gonna happen… so be it.
“We didn’t, but-”
“If it were Wind you would’ve torn the base apart looking for him.” Four whispers, voice shaking. Then looks at Time for the first time. “If it were Twi you’d want to be the one left behind.”
The old man physically flinches.
“You don’t get to choose-” the smith’s voice breaks, and the kid stands quickly. “You promised me.”
Four’s hands jump to his eyes, scrubbing furiously at them. “You promised me. And you lied.”
He stands, too, moving slowly to the smith.
“I am sorry for that, Four. But I could never live with myself if you had died.”
Tears drop down Four’s cheeks.
“And if Sky had? If he still does?” Four chokes, grey eyes flicking to the bed again.
“I still-”
“You don’t get to play god. You don’t get to choose who dies and who doesn’t-”
Four’s voice breaks again, and then the kid is just crying.
“You promised and you still lied to me.” Four chokes, staring at Time with pure hurt.
Time slowly moves to sit in the chair Four had abandoned, meeting the kid’s gaze.
“I never intended to hurt you, Four.” Time says softly. “I took a risk- I was hoping Wars or Legend had found him, and when they didn’t… you had deteriorated so quickly. We had to get going right then. We took a risk- as far as we knew, Sky wasn’t injured badly. You were. I won’t ask for your forgiveness- I only ask for your understanding. We took a risk, and I’m not sorry for saving you. But I am sorry for the pain that choice caused you and breaking my promise.”
Four scrubs at his eyes again, sniffling.
Tries to talk, but he only manages a choking noise before the kid is just bawling.
Knees on the floor, arms around himself, face tucked into his arms to hide it.
He stands quickly and kneels next to the smithy, putting a soft hand on his back.
Which quickly turns into the kid curling into his chest, arms around him.
“Shh…” he whispers as Four cries. “I’ve got you, buddy. It’s ok. It’s gonna be ok.”
“This is all my fault.” Four sobs, and he freezes.
Then grabs Four tightly, startling the poor kid, crushing him tightly to his chest.
“No. No, you listen here. This is not your fault. You hear me? Everything was way outside of your control- no part of this was your fault. I promise you- you trust me, right? This was not your fault.”
Four chokes weakly, face pressing into his chest.
Hands weakly grabbing his tunic, sniffling sharply.
“I promise you.” He says, much more softly. “There was no part of this that was your fault. You didn’t choose to be captured and tortured. You didn’t choose any of this. It isn’t your fault. And I’ll say it as many times as you need to hear it, ok?”
Four finally gives a weak nod, pulling back just enough to wipe his eyes, then sinks back into him.
And they sit there, supporting each other in silence.
~~~~
Sky wakes up slowly.
Much… nicer than when he had before.
Not nearly as much pain, just some lingering soreness… and he’s on a comfortable bed.
Four sits next to him, in a chair next to the bed.
Eyes locked on him, looking… nervous.
“Four.” He rasps, trying for a smile. He bursts into tears instead, startling the hell out of the poor boy.
Then Four’s fretting over him in a panic, asking if he’s hurt, what he needs, should he get Wars-
“You’re ok?” He sobs, grasping Four’s arm tightly before the kid can move.
Four nods, blinking oddly. Another nod, and Four makes an odd noise. Like a squeak.
He coughs, Four slowly helping him sit up and drink a bit of water.
“Yeah.” Four says softly, slowly taking his hand once he leans back again. “Yeah.”
He wipes his eyes, nodding.
Four still hovers, watching.
“It’s ok… c’mere, Four.” He chokes, patting the bed next to him and carefully scooting to the side. “We’re ok, we’re…” his voice breaks again, and he almost laughs.
Four joins him without hesitation, curling into his side with a shaking breath.
He slowly hugs his friend, rubbing his back. “Hey… hey, what is it?” He asks softly, and Four chokes.
“Nothing, it’s nothing, I’m fine-” Four cuts off weakly, swallowing thickly.
“Hey… hey, talk to me, what’s going on?” He asks softly, and Four sniffles.
Silence. He looks down at the teenager, worried-
“ ‘m sorry.” Four whispers suddenly, voice choked.
“No… no, no no, kiddo, you have nothing to be sorry for. You didn’t do anything wrong, ok? I promise.”
“They hurt you cuz of me- because I got hurt and had to leave- ‘n they didn’t try to find you-”
“Shh… breathe, kiddo. Just breathe. It’s not your fault. I promise, ok? You did nothing wrong. I’m glad you’re ok, and that’s all. I’d never forgive myself if anything happened to you if you were… I’m just glad you’re ok.”
Four sniffles again, but nods slowly.
Then- “Love you.” The kid whispers, making a small gulping sound.
He squeezes the kid tighter, blinking yet more tears out of his eyes. “I love you too, kiddo.”
~~~~
Sky doesn’t have another seizure.
He improves rapidly, much to all of their relief.
He grows more comfortable, the lethargy wearing off, gets back to walking around, eating with them…
The skyloftian clings to Time and Four in particular.
Time still tends to stick to himself- never one for intimacy like that- but Four…
Four won’t leave Sky alone.
The smith follows the skyloftian around as often as he can, sitting next to him during meals, sharing the room and eventually even bed when Sky assures the kid he’s ok with it, and doesn’t sleep well unless Sky’s nearby.
Sky seems to enjoy it, never pushing the smith away and seeming… happy.
Their both dealing with their kidnapping and torture, but… he’s glad they can find comfort in each other.
Always has an arm around the kid, or his sailcloth, letting Four lean on his side when they rest…
Sky in particular struggles with nightmares and flashbacks, which Four helps with. A lot.
He confesses once, in a shaky whisper, that Four’s screams haunt him. The ugly scar on Four’s side that Sky’s eyes linger on, Four’s hand lingers on when the skin is exposed… and Four sleeps curled up on that side. Protecting it.
It’s a sad realization that Sky actually points out without meaning to.
Four’s drifted off early, curled up with his head on Sky’s leg, and the skyloftian casually asks “Is that the side he was cut open on?”
They all pause to look at the kid, and he nods slowly.
“Yeah. The side he’s curled around? Yeah… see the stitching in his tunic? From being repaired. That’s the side. Weird he sleeps on it, wouldn’t that hurt?”
“He always sleeps on that side. Won’t sleep otherwise. It’s like he’s protecting it- see how his arms are?”
Dead silence as they all realize this.
He slowly shifts Four to undo the belt the kid wears all the time, slowly pulling his tunic up-
“What are you doing? Wars?” Sky protests quietly.
“Making sure nothings wrong with it.” He says equally quietly, and that silences the group.
It looks fine, just a long gash of scabbing from his rib cage to his hip. Hyrule gently prods it, checking for tenderness and other signs of internal bleeding, reporting that there’s nothing.
So he’s not in pain. Probably.
Just… well, traumatized.
Sky helps him pull the kid’s tunic off, taking his headband and boots off so they can actually put him to bed. Unsurprisingly, Sky goes with him.
He carries the smith, waking past Legend, setting him gently on the bed when he gets to the room Four and Sky had been sharing.
Knees tucked up to his chest, arms wrapped around his stomach where the cut was.
“How the hell can he sleep like that?” Legend says, having followed him to the room.
Sky gets ready for bed, too, giving a small smile at them.
He has to laugh. “Right? Looks crazy uncomfortable.”
They watch the pair for a moment, then he sighs and leaves the room with the veteran.
“Think they’re gonna be ok?” Legend asks, uncharacteristically uncertain.
He takes a glance at the veteran, then nods his head.
Starts down the hall to his room, stretching slightly.
“Yeah. Yeah, they’re gonna be just fine.”
Can you do a fic abt Aonung and human reader? I was thinking that they start off rlly rocky cause you know how he acted around lo'ak and kiri because of their humanish features, and she thinks hes a skxawng and he thinks shes a freak?
and then 😏
I love jealous Aonung and protective Aonung so maybe he's spent all his time being cold to her and she's just gotten used to it but then something happens and he's suddenly always there?
thank you<3
Yes ofc! I'm so excited, this is my first request!!!!
Ask and you shall receive my darling- just give me a few days and I will publish it ♡, for now: enjoy the little synopsis and teaser of 『Tunutu』 ᵕ̈
A shout of laughter from outside brings you back to attention, and you set down the paste you had been mixing on a small table before quietly moving over to peek out. Just as you stick your small head out, you find yourself suddenly bumped backwards as several figures walk into the healing marui.
Folding your arms and frowning at the rowdy boys, you watch them as they comfortably space out around the marui. You recognise them instantly- the three skxawngs that Aonung always seemed to hang out with.
"Can I help you?" you ask, trying not to raise your brows when Koro laughs and shoves Nashvi forward to speak to you.
"Yeah," Nashvi grins stupidly. "Us and Aonung were out by the reef when an akula attacked, and we got a few injuries."
You can't help raising your brows at this. There are only several small scratches across the boys bodies, the worst only looking five inches long on Ongu's leg. But you have a job, and you aren't about to refuse to help Aonung's friends.
"Alright, sit down," you say tiredly, reaching up to lightly lead Nashvi to the woven mat you heal on.
As you turn to gather some more ointment, you can hear the three boys chuckling stupidly behind you, but when you turn, their smiles are quickly hidden and they don't make eye contact with each other.
Shrugging off your discomfort and annoyance, you lift up Nashvi's hair to apply the ointment to the scratches on his back.
They are not easy patients. They're whiny when you touch their miniscule, pointless little scratches, and they chuckle and grin shiftily at each other every time you move. It's an awkward interaction with each, and finally you can't take the silence anymore.
"What were you doing out by the reef?" you ask, in a desperate attempt to make conversation.
"Aonung wanted to hunt," Koro shrugs.
"Where is Aonung?"
They all grin again at your question, and you straighten up and frown.
"Missing your boyfriend are you?" Ongu leers.
You straighten up instantly, a frown fixed on your small face and your fist clenched slightly around the bowl.
"What are you talking about?" you say coolly, turning away from the boys under the pretence of collecting more herbs to add to the ointment.
"You're pining after him," Koro grins. "It's so obvious, all the little looks you shoot him, batting your eyelashes whenever he's around. You're so cool and all with other guys, but as soon as Aonung's around you're acting like a little lovestruck prolemuris."
"I do not," you say hotly, forgetting to act cool and hide the deep flush across your cheeks.
"Please," Nashvi scoffs. "You couldn't be more obvious if you tried."
Your face is growing hotter and hotter, and when you turn around, you find that the three boys have crept slightly closer, so now you're stuck between them.
"I don't have a crush on Aonung," you lie, knowing full well that you aren't convincing anyone. "I don't even like him."
"These little outfits say otherwise," Koro grins, reaching out to pinch your hip.
You jerk away from the contact, the bare skin of your hip between your top and low skirt burning slightly from his touch and the accusation of his words.
"Fuck off," you grumble, pushing at his hands as he reaches towards you again.
"What happened to the sweet little girl whenever he's around?"
"She's about to do worse than those little scratches if you don't stop touching me," you growl, hoping you sound braver than you feel.
Hot mortification is spreading through your body. Had you really been that obvious?
Koro, Ongu and Nashvi are just laughing stupidly, watching you grow more and more flustered as you try to figure out what to say, or at least how to get away.
"You are rude skxawngs," you snap. "I helped you out, now leave me alone."
"Why?" Nashvi grins. "We're just having a little fun with you, tawtute."
"Why do you wear such big clothes anyway?" Ongu leers. "I know they're getting smaller for Aonung, but if you want his attention you should just take it all off."
You growl as they reach for your clothes again.
"Tell Aonung that-"
"Tell me what?" a deep voice says from the entrance.
Immediately, all four of your gazes flick to see Aonung leaning against the entrance, a small frown pinching between his brows as he stares at his friends.
"That you need to find better friends," you huff, reaching to flatten your hair and pull your skirt down.
"She's just being grumpy," Koro laughs. "We were having a fun conversation with her."
"Yeah, it was real fun," you snap, flushing crimson as Aonung's gaze flicks back to you. "Especially when you kept touching me."
Aonung's frown deepens when you feel his gaze pass over the redness their pinches left over your hip, and you brush your hair out of your face.
"Okay, I fixed up your little scratches," you scowl to Koro, Ongu and Nashvi, as Aonung just stares dully at you. "You can fuck off now."
"Careful with your mouth," Nashvi grins. "You aren't as attractive when you aren't smiling, tawtute."
"Get out," you growl, straightening to your full height, but still shorter than their crouched figures.
They just laugh stupidly, and you're growing more and more flustered and annoyed. You are torn between wanting to shout and curl up in a ball and cry until they get uncomfortable and leave, when Koro pulls the last straw.
"It's a shame that such a pretty little thing has no humour," he grins to his friends. "You know I'd-"
"Out," you shout.
They don't look at all as though they're going to leave, but then Aonung shoots them a certain sort of look you miss, because your heart is pounding fast and angry tears are stinging your eyes.
You're mortified, that they knew about your crush, that they managed to get so far under your skin, that everyone had so little respect for you that they only listen when Aonung tells them to do something.
As they file out, you can hear them snickering to each other, and their gazes blazing on your bowed head as they walk away.
"You can leave too," you say off-handedly, turning away so your back is to Aonung.
"Oh?" Aonung asks, his voice deep and amused. "You're going to kick me out of my own mum's marui?"
"Yes," you grumble, sitting down and glaring at him. "Fuck off."
Aonung just laughs, his massive body still leaning against the entrance as he stares down at you, blue eyes sparkling with amusement.
"Are you alright?" he asks, once he stops laughing. You frown at the slight concern in his voice before glaring up at him.
"Yes I'm fine," you snap. "Now are you done?"
Aonung just stares for a few more seconds before he pushes off the wall and walks over to you.
Oh Eywa's just playing a fucking game with you right now. Aonung reaches out, lightly taking your small head in his hand and gently tilting your face up towards him with a soft hand.
"Is what they said true?" he asks quietly.
"Aren't you the one that finds my crush obvious as fuck?" you snap.
But you don't pull away, and you both know it. Instead, you just stay put little a stupid good girl and stare up at him, waiting for what he's about to do.
"I'm fucking pathetic, I know," you whisper. "I have to work my ass off just to get the tiniest bit of recognition, and this is the longest we've ever spoken. All you do is glare at me from other sides of the village, and I still liked you."
"You're not," Aonung says. "Pathetic, I mean. They're just skxawngs."
"They're your friends," you point out. "They're the ones that knew I liked you, that just come and fucking taunt me and touch me and-"
"Let me see," Aonung cuts you off.
You scowl at him and try to push him away, but he just easily grabs your wrist and peers around you to see your hips, where the mark is still red against your skin.
"It's not a big deal," you growl. "I just don't need shit for having a stupid crush. No one ever needed to know and it wasn't hurting anyone. If I knew what skxawngs you and your friends are, I'd never like you."
"This skirt is thin," is all Aonung says. "And short. Tawtute clothing is strange, but this one is small compared-"
"It was for you!" you snap. "All the stupid dressing up and acting nice and being sweet and trying to be pretty just so you would stop glaring and look at me for ONCE!"
Aonung's frown deepens slightly, like he's confused, like you aren't making any sense. Stupid alien boys, so oblivious to everything around them.
"I am looking at you," he says quietly.
"No," you hiss. "You're looking down on me like always, just because I'm a human-"
Your voice dies in your throat when Aonung instantly sits beside you, his hands picking you up as though you weigh nothing and placing you gently in his massive lap.
Your faces are a foot apart, your hands immediately falling to his shoulder to steady yourself, an unnecessary action given that he's easily holding you by your waist.
"Better?" he asks sincerely, as though he genuinely thought this would help.
You can hardly breathe over the pounding of your heart. You are nervous and pissed and terrified and also fucking horny.
Oh Eywa, how is he doing this- just instantly making you forget everything that happened by placing you on his lap and staring at you with those large blue eyes.
"What are you doing here Aonung?" you say tiredly.
His ears prick up at the sound of his name, the first time he's heard you speak it. You can hardly miss the sway of his tail behind you.
"Injury," he shrugs.
You scoff, and he turns to frown at you.
"I am injured," he frowns. "I went to my mother and she told me to come to you."
"She did?" you ask, confused. "If you're hurt, why would she tell you to come to me?"
"So I could hear your great love confession?" Aonung shrugs, eyes sparkling with amusement.
You growl and make to stand up, but his hands keep you firmly planted in his lap.
"Trying to leave now?" he asks. "Don't you want to help me paksalin?"
"Don't call me that," you hiss.
"You don't like it?" Aonung asks, looking confused.
"You're being mean," you say finally. "Everyone was right about you- you're a skxawng playboy."
"Playboy?" Aonung asks, sounding out the human word with confusion.
"Yeah," you say. "Like a slut."
Aonung laughs in surprise, brows raising at your annoyance with him.
"I thought you were all meek and sweet," he says finally.
"Not anymore," you grumble. "Cat's out of the bag sweetie, so I can go back to being a bitch again. Now let me go so I can help you out."
To your surprise, he instantly obeys, letting his arms drop to his sides so you can clamber out of his lap and collect your paste again. When you turn back, you notice the injury.
"You're hurt."
It's a blunt statement, and you're pointing out the obvious. Aonung has a no shit look on his face, before he notices your concern.
"It's alright," he says gently. "I just got a little scraped by the akula."
"Aonung, there's an akula tooth stuck in your arm," you say, instantly kneeling beside him.
"There is?" he says, sounding interested. "Huh."
"Huh?" you hiss incredulously. "There is a three inch tooth stuck in your arm and you say HUH?"
Aonung just shrugs, and you crouch down to study it, before gently cleaning it up. He hisses a little when you first wipe over the wound, but he just grits his teeth and sits still with patience his skxawng friends could never possess.
"I should probably take this out," you say, once you've wiped all the blood that you can manage to, and placing a comforting, steady hand on the strong muscles of his shoulder.
"Fine," he grumbles.
"I'll be gentle," you promise. "It'll come nice and easy."
"That's what I want to hear," he says, smirking.
Your mouth parts in amused incredulity, and you lightly smack his shoulder as he turns his head to grin cheekily at you.
"Stay still," you instruct. "Straighten up like this, and try not to move too much. Now, just breathe."
Trying to ignore the very persistent flow of blood as you gently grab the top of the tooth, you start to very slowly pull it out.
"Ow," he hisses, his hand instantly jumping to take yours.
"Sorry," you say, giving his own hand a reassuring squeeze, and he quickly shakes his head and swallows.
"I'm all good, just pull it out fast."
"Is that also what you like to hear?" you ask teasingly, and he laughs a little.
His laugh quickly turns into a groan of pain as you use his amusement as a distraction and yank the tooth out.
"Fuck," he hisses under his breath.
"Good job," you say, as though you're treating a child and patting his head like a good boy. "Here, you can keep the tooth as a souvenir."
"Tawtute," he says gently, before you can leave.
"Yeah?"
"You aren't pathetic, liking me-"
"Yeah, you're very handsome and cool and hot, I get it," you say, rolling your eyes. "Listen Aonung."
And he does, looking up at you like a little puppy sitting on the woven floor, waiting patiently for you to speak.
“Better than me?”
sypnosis; "she was cute you know?" Megan chimes , "oh so she's better than me?" the older replied snarkly
cw; smut , mean Dom Sophia, sub Megan , fuckbuddies , sorta toxic , recent fics flopping 😔... , might be my last smut for this month cuz I'm planning out a smau....(still not sure tho) , short maybe less than 1k words!
being in a girl group was fun and enjoyable I mean you get to meet thousands of people who love and support you , the downside was freedom
ever since becoming a part of katseye every single member had been personally talked to about the rules and what the contract inscript
no dating , no posts on social media without managers looking thru them , no wearing clothes that were not yet approved by management and the list goes on
it was hard — they were teenagers and obviously they also had feelings , yet to protect their image they had to not date publicly..
—★
resulting in members being in relationships with each other it started with lara and manon — at first it was them being close to each other , suggestive jokes until they got caught kissing each other whilst in manon's room
but megan didn't want a relationship, it was exhausting , combat that with training and constant changes of schedule it wasn't gonna work
but when times like this was happening she couldn't help it , imagine seeing your members be touchy and feeling up to each other— especially sophia god damn that woman
she always held megan close the way her hands wrapped around the younger's waist has her subconsciously pressing her thighs together — the way her fingers trace Megan's tummy and her plump lips that was like a forbidden fruit
—★
"I dunno maybe you should ask her" dani responds to the ginger
"but I don't think she'll approve of that!—i mean how am I gonna ask that?" megan says her voice was like a scream
"you never know.." dani says standing up form the beanbag on the floor to walk out the room
now left with her thoughts and prayers megan decided it's now or never
—★
knocking on the leaders door megan enters greeted by sophia organizing her stickers
"hey" she softly greeted
"hi baby what do you need?" the older replied
fuck,her hands got sweaty , her heartbeat going so fast it probably will explode — calm down you want her to know this right?
"so you know uh- lara and uhm manon right?" Megan stammered
"what about them?" sophia replied her eyebrows raising out of pure concern
"and you know they kinda started as fuck... buddies?— well I was wondering if we can uhm"
"oh you want that with me?"
"yes..?" megan closes her eyes only to feel Sophias hands on her jaw
"okay—if that's what you really want" sophia nods at her kissing her cheeks
—★
and thats how it started — as ashamed megan felt for even asking that or thinking about it she's happy that she tried
yet something will always go wrong , sophia was very possessive over megan , ever since the agreement, she would practically pry off Megan off any other member when they were being clingy or even just talking
—★
NYC was a big city , with loads of interesting places to go to , so the girls decided to go out and have fun
I mean they did have a comeback soon so they atleast had to rest and have fun before that
spotting an ice cream shop yoonchae excitedly told the rest of the girls whom all agreed on having ice cream
"I want choco chip!" yoonchae exclaims
"we'll have a rocky road" manon says signaling to her and lara
"I would like strawberry please" dani grins
"and you megan?" sophia asks as she listed down all the orders in her notes app
"do they have caramel?" megan asks , as she looks at the leader
"yeah , okay sit down I'll order" sophia says to which the girls follow sitting down on the corner booth if the store
"would that be all?" the cashier asks
"yes! and maybe extra tissues aswell" the leader nods and smiles
—★
as their order number got called megan volunteered to get the ice cream, she earned nods from the members
"thank you so much" megan smiles her dimples showing
the cashier was smooth with it she didn't even know how it happened but now she was giving her number to her
"you're really pretty!—maybe we can talk more I guess you have to go right?" the cashier says
"oh definitely!—heres my number" megan says blushing, she shows her phone
as she walk back to the table she couldn't even pretend not to notice sophia staring at her , her brows furrowed
"ooh what was that Megan" daniela teases
"I dunno — she just asked for my number" megan shrugs , as the other members continue teasing her
"and you gave your number to her?" the leader cuts
"yeah?—i mean she's cute" megan says , skeptical about the leaders reaction
—★
as the girls wind down in the dorms megan had this nagging feeling of something will go wrong—sophia has been off ever since the ice cream shop
was it because of the cashier?—or maybe she's too naive how deep sophia's possessiveness goes for her
deciding to know megan knocks on the leaders door , only for the door to open right away with sophia pulling her in
—★
"what was that about" sophia starts her voice was authoritative , stern and not anything like normal
"what was what?" megan replies confused
"oh you know damn well—why would you give your number to her?" sophia snaps
"shes cute you know?" megan replies, she wanted a reaction out of the older — and she was gonna get it
"oh so she's better than me?" the older replied snarkly
the olders eyes blazed , megan gulps — barely processing it sophia already had her pinned against the wall roughly making out with her
the older bit megan's lips for access, which she granted after whimpering
"you're mine fuckin remember that" she spits out as her hands tighten around megan's neck causing the younger to see stars
she continues her rough handling and removes megan's clothes pinching the younger breasts , she does the same to herself shedding off her clothing and leading them to bed
sophia grabs a scarf and ties it around megan's hands keeping her immobile
"so pretty for me" sophia says her long nails trailing around the youngers stomach down to her thighs
she stands up and walks to her closet pulling out her strap
oh fuck
sophia straps it in , seeing how megan dripped onto the bed, clenching on air as she waits for what's next
sophia walks back kissing down the youngers face , her fingers on megan's clit stimulating her before pushing in the whole length of the strap in megan
"fuck!" megan whines her legs wrapping around sophia urging the older to go faster and she did pounding into Megan like her life depended on it
"you like that whore?" sophia says in between her gasps and groans
"mhm-ye-yes!" megan replies as tears fell onto her cheeks due to pleasure
"your cunt so fucking desperate huh?" sophia says , as she felt megan tighten around her
megan didn't know and didn't care either way she felt so good
"close!" megan screams , as her orgasm crashes on her , her legs getting weak and her heartbeat going slower
afterwards sophia pulls out with a wet sound , her hands untying megan's
"I love you" sophia whispers as megan's eyes fluttered close
"I love you too" megan mumurs
Something I think that’s funny (not in a judgey way) is how a lot of the fandom views Tim’s relationships with the other Batfam members/Gotham heroes
Tim might be the bat fam member/Gotham vigilante with the most positive relationships out of every one but for the angst a lot of people ignore that (again not judging, also love a good angsty fic, just think it’s interesting) and I listed it out below : )
Tim & Alfred - Alfred loves him, that’s one of his boys
Tim & Jim Gordon - as far as I’m aware Gordon has never had anything bad to say about Tim
Lucius Fox - they worked well together to stop Ra’s al Ghul from destroying Wayne enterprises/Industries (whatever its being called now) in Red Robin
Tim & Bruce - that’s his son and most of the time Bruce acts like it
Tim & Selina “He’s a goody two-shoes but I like that kid” (Catwoman #31)
Kate Kane - as of Tim Drake: Robin their relationship hit a rough spot but he was still wanting to do whatever he could to protect her so I think they are/ will be good
(Tim & Luke Fox - genuinely have no idea if they’ve had any significant interactions so I’m gonna assume they’re good but not sure if it counts so I’ll leave that up to individual opinion)
Tim & Barbara - Barbara has said he’s the only batboy with manners lol and she has fallen for his baby brother charms
Tim & Dick - has literally stated in canon that he would do anything for Tim, he’s Dick’s litte brother, Dick is absolutely Tim’s favorite brother
Tim & Jean Paul Valley - JPV hurt him but due to his reaction to hearing Tim got the clench and trying to save him he obviously still cares and they’ve worked together since so I think they’re on good terms
Tim & Helena - she was so genuinely heartbroken when she thought he was killed by killer croc, has also fallen for his little brother charms
Tim & Cassandra - siblings who have each others back no matter what
Tim & Jason - despite their rocky start, as of Knight Terrors: Robin they’ve been shown to have a civil if not a positive relationship
Tim & Stephanie - besties despite being exes
Tim & Harper Row - what I’ve seen of them has been a fun relationship “I should go. Probably some kind of mischief going on.” “Mischief huh?” (Batman Eternal #52 I think)
Tim & Duke Thomas - they alway come through for each other and haven’t had any beef as far as I’m aware
Tim & Darcy Thomas - good relationship
Tim & Damian - as of Tim Drake: Robin, Tim is calling Damian his little brother. They may have hated each other in the beginning but they don’t now
(Am I missing anyone??)
Out of the other characters that are generally considered to have good/positive relationships with everyone else -
From my understanding, Alfred, Gordon, & Barbara have had mostly positive relationships with the others (sometimes they’ve had bumps in the road but usually the relationship recovered from that) but I don’t recall if they have had a relationship with ALL of the above characters
Cass and Jason did have beef due to extremely different ideologies and I’m not aware of that being resolved
Duke Thomas has not been shown to have interactions with all of those listed above
Dick has some on again off again beefs with some of the others
+ other beefs I’m aware of
Jason & Damian last I recall were still getting into tumbles whenever they made the other angry, which is a lot
Bruce has multiple beefs going on at all times it seems : (
I feel like I’m forgetting some unresolved beef involving JPV but maybe I’m wrong
Anyways my point is, unless I’m majorly wrong about any of the above, or forgetting several people, Tim is most likely the canonical Batfam member with the most positive relationships amongst Gotham vigilantes (if I went past that that list would never end lol) even if a lot of his relationships with the others started out rough or had a rough patch at some point
