I was thinking about Nova today and just so happened to be updating some illustrations from the book I worked on.

This page was fun because it takes place in a horse magazine. I used to be a graphic designer in horse advertising (Kentucky), so I thought it would be a fun little bonus to draw myself into the background (Probably listening to some murder podcast, idk). I also included my beloved old baby pug, Nova, who passed away this summer.

I hope, regardless of what happens between Sand and Ray, that Ray can be in rehab and recovering in the end. An ambiguous open-ending is something I can definitely see happening, but I think there's a strong possibility we could get a straightforward one too, where Sand and Ray are happily together and Ray is working through his issues.

But also...I feel like we were led to believe in Ep4 that Ray can't rely on Mew as his support system anymore and that position was going to be filled by Sand. Now of course Mew and Ray are on good terms as friends, but I think we're meant to believe that Sand is now Ray's emergency contact. I just feel like it would be that much more heartbreaking if the show has made a point of indicating that Sand is the one Ray turns to when he's in trouble, just for Sand to be gone. Of course, Ray still has his friends and I'm sure other people will come into his life that he can lean on for support (I'm hoping), but that would still be so sad to me if Ray loses someone like Sand who loves him and cherishes him the way his mom never did.
