Dear Void, Lately I’ve been unsorted (shout out to my tight knit team of unlucky nearby loves who’ve had to handle my weepy ways as I try to remain mostly human) so I’m not sure if this is a squeak for help or my poisonous parts pulling me further into isolation, but I am beyond blue. As a younger Julie I would call these leveled off numbed out low moments “the grey”. Whether or not I was fully aware of why my aesthetic over the past year has been a mix of floral motifs, primary colours and a deliberate shift from rainbows to greyscale. Maybe part of me hoped that if I embraced and owned the grey before it could come back it wouldn’t placate me. Maybe its worked this time and thats why it hurts so much or why I’m not taking any dangerously lonely long walks in places temping me to stay lost forever, my diet (although now with added cookies) has not devolved to be exclusively Reese cups and ginger ale, my body is intact and hasn’t taken too much emotional abuse (which is to say at least I’m still cute) so hopefully my heart can follow suit… Also I’ve reached out to a mental health professional (who hopfully I will have a good enough raport with to continue seeing after next week) and there are at least two people close enough to the red eyes of my storm to know the full spectrum of pain spinning and whirling its psychedelic mess in my mind type heart parts right now. This isn’t a poem and this isn’t the place I’d usually post something so transparently glum but this is me. All softness and sweetness and sadness, smoked and hung out to dry in a web.
