i bought into the :/ vibes of captive prince as well because for a long time i didn't care to look beyond what everyone else was saying about it and frankly i wasn't interested in reading the books but when i see readers saying we shouldn't read captive prince because it glorifies slavery and non-con while the same readers praise colleen hoover and fourth wing and the after series and every shitty dark romance mafia book... i am not saying captive prince is the greatest book series ever and i definitely was uncomfortable with parts of it (because i am definitely not as intellectual as others who read and analysed it) but there's so much worse books out there that get praised A Lot (and especially on booktok) and yeah idk where i am going with this sorry atsjdkf
SAY THAT!!!! like listen i get it, if you're into dark problematic shit kudos, because i looooove me some fucked up books but if you are pointing fingers while ALSO reading a different brand of problematic shit....maybe you're the problem! i feel like people who read books like captive prince or aftg are usually the first ones to analyze how fucked up they are, to think critically and engage with the darker parts of those series whereas a lot of colleen hoover stans on booktok just gloss over the abuse and toxicity because it's all about romance? (or supposedly about romance) like sure captive prince is a love story in the end, and aftg is kind of about a love story in its own way, but i think both of those stories are first and foremost about overcoming abuse and healing from trauma and learning how to trust other people in the wake of all that. the romance is just a wonderful addition to some complex series that allow you the space to exist in the gray areas of human nature.

we gotta get rid of the all or nothing mentality , that shit is the joykiller. i dislike so many things about the sonic movies, from writing decisions to certain characters and movie design choices - but there are also so many little things that i really really LOVE! and i don’t think that my dislike of the former invalidates or nullifies the joy i get from the latter. i know in advance that there are gonna be a lot of things in the sonic 3 movie that i dislike, or think is corny, or would have done differently - but im also excited to find out what i WILL like, so that i can play with it and gush and get excited and jump around my room or whatever. i can’t wait to overthink and hyperfixate and roll around the floor in a froth over the most throwaway detail. i’m going to identify the things that i hate, work to understand WHY i hate them, and also allow myself to enjoy unabashedly and with my whole heart all the little goofy bits n pieces that end up making me feel like my brain is full of happy bees. and if you’re a hater that pretends that the people having fun are simply stupid and oblivious then like idk that’s a you problem. skill issue.

Kids how do we feel about King Art and Malory ship?? Give me your thoughts
#anyone whos watched or read any kind of king arthurian media will understand.#lancelot (who malory is loosely based on) and arther almost always have a bi boy bromance. everytime without fail#me watching Excalibur for the 50th time: Arther has two hands dammnit!!! just let him get married to gwen and lance.#anyway back to mal and art-#in my head I can so see Malory looking up to a younger king art when he first starts training as a page#and they spent a lot of tome together training and just become closer as Malory gets older#and I could potentially see grown Malory as a full knight still holding a bit of a crush towards Art#and as dar as romance goes Malory betraying Art would amp up the tension of their final duel#i could just so see it#BUT! but#i think as far as canon goes I like the brother dynamic way better#mostly cause Malory- while soft at times- is so focused on keeping Morganthe safe and out of harm that even if he had lovey dovey feelings#for ANY character he wouldn’t act on them. what matters most is his sister’s safety#weather the danger is real or just perceived by him… thats his number one priority. nothing else#ANYWAY. food for thought.#i would write like a one shot ship fic between this bear and hunk knight tho lmao#but again. not a head/canon i would personally hold#i just like the idea lmao#oki says a thing
