Dog Sitting mystery
âNetflix and Chill with a guy would be the best thing everâ
Really Janet? Really? Well, then you have never watched a scary movie with a dog barking at his own shadowâŠthe exact moment the killer is standing beyond the victim!!!! And why is the victim always blonde? What is up with that?
Helen couldnât believe that she was dumb enough to wait till it was completely dark out when she decided to watch the movie Scream for the very first time. And with a dog that barks at his own shadow! Every time the bad guy comes around the corner, bark bark bark!!! Talk about your jumpscares! Â
âKetch! Good boy, good boy. Itâs alright. Itâs alright, itâs just your shadow,â soothed Helen. At least I hope itâs just your shadow and not the killer.
Usually a good soothing talk can calm Ketch down but for some reason that night Helen was having trouble keeping Ketch down. Itâs not like they havenât done this before, or that Helen is new to Ketch. Ketched loved her. Adored her. Hated it whenever Helen left.
Ketch is a Black/White Husky / Pitbull mix. At first Helen was a little apprehended about Ketch because of the pitbull media news, but as soon as Ketch lept on Helenâs lap and fell right asleep, it was love. Ketchâs owner is usually away on business a lot so Helen gets to see Ketch and work with him a lot.
See, Helen is a dog sitter. She loves going to peopleâs houses and help them out with their animals, no matter what the animal is. She has watched snakes, gerbils, parrots, pigs, ducks, horses and your regular dogs and cats. And it doesnât matter how many you have, Helen is always up for the task. Â
Itâs a fun job. Itâs an interesting job. Â
But at 32 years of age?
Yes.
Yes it still is.
Now granted, Helen does have a full time job as well as dog-sitting, doing computer tech work, but watching an animal at someone elseâs house and getting paid for it? Priceless!
So Helen was use to Ketchâs antics but for some reason this night, he was stepping it up a bit. Either Ketch got into the catnip again; or its because Helen was using him as a animal shield for the scary bits of the movie; or and this was a scary thoughtâŠthere was actually something out there.
Itâs gotta be a squirrel. Totally a rabbit. Maybe a flock of turkeys are going by. Nothing bad is out there. You good, girl. You good. Helen was trying her best to keep it cool and try and soothe Ketch down, thinking it was nothing.
After about 5 more minutes of him scratching and barking he was finally able to settle down enough to move by Helenâs feet by the couch. Not fully getting up on the couch but sitting in the protective stanch Helen taught him when he was a pup. Helen let it go. At least he is done barking.
Matthew Lillard just quoted âIâll be right backâ as he is getting the beer when the tension in the room just escalated. Ketch was finally lying down dozing off when he shot right up in the protective stance again at Helenâs leg. Helen was noticing Ketchâs ears twitching back and forth. Helen has been dog-sitting going on 15 yearsâŠshe picked up a thing or two about learning how to read your animal. She knew something was up as well. Pausing her movie, Helen slowly gets up from the couch and slowly walks towards the window. It is a windy night. Even though Helen is inside the house she could tell how cold it was outside. Wind picking up more of the cold air coming from Lake Michigan. Not really seeing anything with her eyes, she pressed her ear up against the window. Unsure what she was trying to hear for, it just seemed to be the right thing to do.
Nothing but the wind. Iâm getting tired and the movie is almost over.
âIâm not hearing anything bub. Letâs finish the movie and get ready for bed,â she looks longing at Ketch, hoping he understands her.
As she makes her way to the couch and just when she is about to unfreeze Matthew Lillard, thatâs when they both heard it.
The one sound, on a cold October night, you do not want to hear.
The one sound, that makes the hair stand on end.
The one sound, that you know, you will not get your animal to be quiet about.
Sirens.
Maybe not my street. Maybe not around here. Helen prays.
More sirens.
Cop car drives by, causing ketch to leap up towards the window and give the howl all dogs do when they hear the sirens.
âItâs alright Ketch. Looks like it was just the one cop car. Maybe Mrs. Stevens locked herself out of her house again. We should be oâŠâ Helen wasnât able to finish her sentence as more cop cars start racing by her window. This time it was county.
âOh no,â whispered Helen. Her days as volunteering at the County Court House with her Mom, she got to hear a lot of details from the cops. When the County cops get involved you know something is up. It will get managed just fine though. No problems, no worries. Itâs when the State cops show up is when you want to start worrying.
âPlease no state, please no state,â prayed Helen.
All quiet on the western front.
Until a flash of blue raced by with the lights on and the sirens blaring.
âOh no. State boys are here too. This is bad Ketch. This is really bad. What did you see out there?â exclaimed Helen.
20 minutes later when the ambulance showed up with an unmarked car riding behind it, Helen knew it was the medical examiner and knew her night was just about to get more interesting than finding out that hotties Matthew Lillard and Skeet Ulrich were psychos.
After reading this, would you want to read more Or would you have already closed the book? Curious

Speak now, or forever hold your peace. (II)
Summary: You crash the wedding with Grim and Ortho. Unlike the others, proposing isnât on your mind. You come with a very different approach.Â
An angstier take on Ghost Marriage. Idia x GN!reader. Reader is MC, or takes the role of MC in this story. (Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3)Â (Part 4)
Warnings: none
If the students of NRC thought theyâve seen Eliza at her angriest, they were wrong. The fury she displayed now was incomparable. While Idia fawned over your dramatic anime-worthy entrance, the new interruption was getting on her last ghostly nerve.
âGuards! Seize them!â she roared. Immediately, the ghosts went into action. Idia held his breath as he watched the obedient ghosts charge at you, Grim, and Ortho. He hoped you didnât barge in with no plan. If you didnât come equipped with useful items, you would end up like everyone else.Â
Chubby, determined to get rid of the intruders that caused distress to his beloved princess, was eager to get rid of you. (âSimpâ, Idia muttered) However, eagerness wasnât enough against an opponent equally as determined. As soon as he got too close, an unknown force threw him backwards to where Eliza floated, shocking the princess.
âChubby! Are you alright?â
Idia, on the other hand, was elated.Â
âTh-thatâs so OP!â he exclaimed. He knew you heard him, because your gaze flicked to him for a split second before looking away. Embarrassed, Idia shut his mouth. Heâd expected at least a smile.Â
After Chubbyâs failed attack, other ghosts attempted to face your group. They only met the same fate. Confused, they could only pay their apologies to the princess and watch on in helplessness. Just what did you have up your sleeve? Who did you get such an SS-tier item from?
âPrincess, itâs impossible to stop them!â the last of Elizaâs guards told her. For the first time that night, she looked afraid.Â
Grim guffawed, while you smirked. A familiar look. It was always there before you jumpscared an enemy, or before you checkmated a poor opponent. Idia might have thought it was kinda hot. At the moment, he was oblivious to his gaping mouth, and how wildly his hair blazed. What were once lightly blushing tips were now an alarming redâa level of ferocity never seen from him before.Â
âYou canât touch or hurt us!â boasted Grim, a devious smirk on his face. âWe had some heâmprfgh!â He was abruptly cut off by Orthoâs robotic arm covering his mouth. Idiaâs brother shook his head at your noisy dorm mate.Â
âRelease my big brother now!â he demanded. Idia grimaced, but didnât feel too worried. As long as Ortho was with you and your anti-ghost protective shield, he would be safe.Â
As expected, the ghosts were affronted.Â
âHow dare he order the princess like that?â
âYou ought to be punished for your insolence!â
âTo intrude on a royal wedding and speak disrespectfully!Â
âSend them to the gallows!â
One talked, and one talked over the other. Soon, all that could be heard was an unintelligible susurrus of disembodied voices. One ghost had enough of it, and shouted to Eliza: âPrincess, the kiss! Do what must be done!âÂ
âNO!â You and Ortho yelled at the same time. You continued to walk towards the makeshift altar as your two companions followed close behind. Ghosts rushed to block your path, but you pressed on as your invisible shield threw them back. It looked absolutely badass. Well, anything you did was cool to Idia, anyway.Â
 âOut of my way!â You commanded, strong and unwavering. Heâd seen you annoyed and angry before, but never up to this point. It basically radiated off of you that a danger warning could be floating above your head.Â
âS-so intimidating... â
âSo scary!â
Sure, this wedding crasher looked like you, but something was different. An unexplainable sinister aura wreathed you tonight. Was it your glare, or was it that regal suit you wore? Idia must have been too distracted by you, that he only noticed now how your cape seemed to drag shadows with it. You were a villain... much like one of the villains from his video games! And something else that was familiar.Â
Whatever it was and wherever it came from, there was a menacing presence in the hall tonight.Â
All were silent, except for the wind whistling through the hall. If one listened more carefully, they would hear drowned-out cackles. But it is just the wind, right?
âWh-who are you?â Eliza finally asked. The ghosts who were ashamed at being unable to seize you began to form a protective ring around their princess. Eliza herself, Idia noticed, was starting to curl in on herselfâher presence shrinking the closer you approached. âWhat do you want?â
âThe groom,â was all you said, staring her down as if eyes alone could exterminate the ghost in front of you.Â
âIdia?â she asks weakly, glancing at her tied-up groom. Idia said nothing and did nothing but look at you, attempting to telepathically communicate his panic. You barely even looked at him.Â
âHeâs mine.âÂ
Hold upâ?
More gasps and chatter. They sounded less like whispers and more like the buzzing insects he heard whenever he snuck out at midnight. The world spun. Idia stared at you open-mouthed.Â
If he were asked to describe his state of mind at this moment, it would be similar to a loading screen. Suddenly, everything you did together played back in a 1.75x supercut sequence.Â
Mine.Â
Mine.Â
Mine. Â
âWh-what?â Eliza sputtered. âWhat do you mean?âÂ
You answered her, voice losing the steadiness it possessed just moments ago. âYou have the man I love.âÂ
WhaâŠÂ
KDJAFCKSAJHDKACBSXCJSIEUDS?
Idia.exe has crashed. Reboot?Â
~~
The audienceâs reactions were varied. Some students on the floor were amused by the spectacle and could have used some popcorn (and a comfortable position) during these times. Some were horrified and disappointed by the idea of the prefect being in love with Idia Shroud the shut-in. Some were much too confused to feel anything.Â
âPardonâŠ? What did I just hear?â Azul asked the floor.
âPuppy love,â Lilia wept, sniffling very loudly. âYou know, this reminds me of when I was young...âÂ
âWhaddaya mean when you were young?!â Floyd snapped. His irritability had spiked up even more when you arrived. His position prevented him from witnessing the events. Everyone on the floor could feel his bad mood rolling off of him in waves.Â
âHey! Watch your tone when speaking to Lilia!â scolded Sebek.Â
â... Are they acting?â Leona mumbled.Â
âOh, this better be an act.â said Vil. â... though it does not seem to be.â The last part of his observation remained unheard by anyone else, except for Rook.Â
âI believe we are witnessing a genuine love confession,â added the Chasseur dâAmour himself, voice soft as he sighed dreamily. âEngrave this moment into your memories, everyone! We are fortunate to witness itâŠâ
But no one shared his enthusiasm about the situation. The others expressed their displeasure by groaning and complaining. â... well, even in this state we are in?â he added as a follow-up.Â
~~
Reboot.Â
You once fell asleep on Idiaâs shoulder after finishing a movie. It was something you both only watched to make fun of, but you were apparently too tired to give your top-tier jokes and meme references. The contact sent his heart into overdrive as he froze, begging for option boxes to appear and help him. The flames of his hair blazed so brightly that it woke you back up. It was embarrassing, and sometimes he would remember it late at night and cringe.Â
It was happening again, but worse. Any moment now, he was sure that he alone could burn down the cafeteria, if not the whole school. This was stupid. Why did he get that worked up over an obvious act? A mere ploy to get the ghosts to release him?
Reality catches up and deals him triple attack damage. Crowley probably put you up to this. You were probably annoyed that you were forced to do this, werenât you? Thatâs why you couldnât even look at him. It had to be the cruelest joke that fate ever threw his way.Â
âI canât say I donât understand you, Princess,â you tell Eliza, forcing a smile. âIdia is perfect, is he not?â He felt your eyes on him. This time, it was he who couldnât quite meet your gaze. Looking down at the floor was all he could do; it couldnât judge his blushing face. Only when the warmth in his cheeks faded did he feel it safe to look back up again.Â
âYou see him, donât you, Princess?â Your voice began to falter, losing the confidence and authority in it that scared the ghosts. âHeâs so much more than what everyone else thinks! We agree on that, donât we?â
Elizaâs face softened, nodding. âYes. Iâve seen how these people insult him!â she tells you, gesturing to the âfailed princesâ on the floor.
âBut weâre still different,â you stepped closer, but still far enough so that your invisible anti-ghost forcefield wouldnât activate. âYou donât want to marry Idia, you want to marry your fairytale prince.âÂ
Eliza appeared to be genuinely confused. She looked around at her companions, before turning back to you. âWhat do you mean?â
âYouâre in love with your ideals, not the person himself,â you explain. âYou only chose him for his appearance. Am I right? His personality, likes and dislikes, and possible flaws donât matter to you.â
Eliza seemed deep in thought. While she was silent, you release a bitter laugh and threw your hands up. âI mean, do you even know what his favorite candy is?â
Pomegranate drops. You asked to have some, but he refused to give you any. He wouldnât tell you why, but he let you assume it was his favorite and didnât want to share because of that.Â
That wasnât it, though. Maybe heâd tell you once you were both out of here.Â
âYouâve never stayed up until 4am just to join him on a raid!â You waved your hands wildly, lost in your rant. Whether Eliza understood you or not, you seemed to have stopped giving a damn.Â
âWeak!â he teased, noticing your drooping eyelids and reduced concentration. Deep down, he felt bad for keeping you up late. âLook, itâs fine if you need to rest.â
âNah, letâs finish this. What are you going to do without me?â you replied, smirking.
âYou donât even have 4-hour conversations with him on Magicord VC like I do!âÂ
It lasted up until 3am. You two were laughing at memes. He could hear a groggy Grim complain in the background about the noise.Â
âAlright. Hereâs a question, princess. How much would you risk for the man beside you right now? Bet thatâs where weâre different...â
Elizaâs gaze darted back and forth between you and Idia. Even the other ghosts were silent, waiting for your next words.Â
â... because if you ask me, I would risk everything! Thatâs why Iâm here wearing this stupid suit!â
Itâs not real. Itâs not real. The emotion behind every word was a punch to the gut. If you kept this up, he might need a healer soon. Ever since he realized he was falling, he tried to quell the sparks of hope you ignited whenever you did something nice for him. All that hard work was gone. Each word you uttered was gasoline.Â
âTo think that if I arrived minutes later⊠th-that I would never see him again!â A sob escapes your throat, your intimidating persona crumbling.
No, donât do that. Idia wanted to reassure you that he was still there and he was okay, but he couldnât. Itâs part of an act. Itâs part of an act.Â
âSo please⊠just let him go.â The front you wore has completely dissolved. There you were, reduced to a sobbing mess in front of a ghost princess and the students of NRC.Â
You werenât the only one. All traces of anger or fear have vanished from Elizaâs face. Instead, she put her hands over her mouth. The princess had been moved to tears. Finally, she turns to Idia. âIdia, they seem to l-love you very much⊠â
âThatâs right.â You wiped your tear-streaked face and pointed an accusing finger at the ghosts. âAnd all of you! Are you going to enable her forever? Encourage her shallow ideas of what love should be?âÂ
They all looked down, unable to meet your eyes.Â
âYou have no right to just snatch him up and claim him as yours,â you told Eliza with an unfaltering resolve, despite your tear-covered face and your crumbled front of strength. âDid you never think⊠that there could have been someone waiting for him to return?âÂ
âI-I never meant to!â Eliza cried. âI was so blinded by my own happiness. I never thought⊠never even consideredâŠâÂ
âPrincess, itâs alright. We all make mistakes.â Chubby told her, trying to be reassuring.Â
âTell me, intruder. How else am I going to find my prince?â she asked you with no trace of hostility. You stopped for a while, staring at her.Â
You must not have expected the question. Idia saw you look at himâit was the longest time youâd looked at him all evening. Clearing your throat, you began to explain. You fumbled a bit, scratching the back of your neck and tugging at the hem of your coat as you explained what a perfect partner should be.Â
As you spoke, Idia was enthralled by your voice and most of all, the knowledge you possessed about love and romance. He hadnât seen this side of you before. How did he ever think that a hundred dating sims could make him a romance expert?
âIs that so?â she sighs, bowing her head. âI understand now. Iâm so sorry⊠for causing you so much grief.âÂ
She turns to her companions, giving them a sad smile. âThereâs only one thing to do. Everyone, we must stop this wedding.âÂ
Idia wanted to fall to the floor in relief. At least a few exhausted sighs and weak cheers could be heard from the wedding âattendeesâ. You fell to your knees, exaggerating your gratitude.Â
âThank you, princess!â
âBut Princess⊠what about your happily ever after?â Chubby interjected.Â
âI canât tear two lovers apart!â Eliza wipes a few of her own tears, then turns to you. âI was deeply moved by your words. I dream of having a lover like you,â she sighs dreamily, probably imagining her future lover already.Â
While the students of NRC rejoiced at this victory, Idiaâs heartbeat quickened in fear. What if Eliza decided to take you for herself?
âPrincessâŠâ Chubby muttered, sighing. Eliza only gave him a reassuring smile. Phew. Idia relaxed, grateful that she doesnât have the idea⊠yet. He didnât know what to do if that thought became reality.Â
Eliza turns to address the hall with a smile. âI have decided.â Everyone waited with bated breath for her announcement. Idia squeezed his eyes shut and silently urged her to announce their departure already.Â
âIdia and I will not be married anymore. She smiles wide, and clasps her hands together. âHowever, there will still be a wedding!â
Your smile faded. âWhat⊠what do you mean, princess?â
She beams. âTo make up for my mistake, I will make sure that Idia and his lover are married tonight!âÂ

La squadra in a haunted house
Last time I gave my hcâs how they would do in a horror movie,now itâs haunted house time mothasuckasssss.
Risotto
-People mistake him as an actor
-The actors are more scared of him tbh
-Too tall so he bumps into random things all the time
-He doesnât even get scared that easily. He sort of expects it (Unless its dark as shit and the scares are less than expected)
-Prefers to be alone,but would go with someone if they are scared. Hopefully they would feel better.
-Actually thinks the designs of haunted houses are cool
-Whenever someone says run or runs away he just walks. Too tired to care and knows it was a jumpscare anyways
-Does this all with a straight face what a legend.
-If you actually want to scare him make sure you make it non bloody and suspenseful even if his guard is up then. Donât yell or scream,he wonât scream back. Hold him by the shoulders or something when he would least expect it and the closets thing youâll get is probably a flinch and a restrained yell.
Formaggio
-Says he can do it and doesnât get scared easily but after a jumpscare he clings onto someone
-He doesnât really cry during jumpscares but just backs off and clings to someone else the entire time
-Just the before n after thing basically. First he looks determined and then heâs scared shitless.
-Depending on the scare,he either screams like a little bitch or laughs
-Stays with one person unless they get separated somehow
-Likes the blood effects of haunted houses
-If he gets chased by an actor? Running faster than time
-His heart rate is definitely fast af
-A way to scare him in the haunted house is making him go alone and no other support whatsoever. Heâs already trembling with fear at that point and then the scares come along and he looks as if he saw an actual ghost.
Illuso
-Is prideful enough to step in but his gut tells him not to go inside
-Bitch screams like a little girl when he gets absolutely frightened
-Also bumps into things like an idiot
-Just walks away after screaming from a jumpscare. He out chief
-Prefers to be alone cause of his screams but Formaggio is bitching to him so he is forced to partner up with someone
-Likes the dark atmospheres in haunted houses,especially without light cause it gives such a suspenseful vibe.
-If heâs getting chased in the house he does run but accidentally bumps his head against the wall in stupidity. (It probably made the actor laugh a little bit)
-âThat was nothing.â He says after clinging onto a prop out of fear
-How to scare him? Pretty neutral way,unexpected jumpscares and unnerving things. Bonus points for suspenseful music
Prosciutto
-You know that one vine where the dude says âGhost pray on fear,just be confident?â. Yeah thatâs his way to make anyone enter the haunted house
-Personally not a fan of haunted houses but only goes cause otherwise âit would ruin the funâ for Formaggio and the others
-Has a straight face and sometimes flinches. He has no clue whatâs going on.
-Heâs the emotional support for Pesci. But really doesnât wanna go either and tells Pesci to man the fuck up.
-He really loves when the props are great made and handmade and not shit you can find at your local Halloween store
-Actor chasing him? Only takes a few steps and then looks back and then doesnât see the actor anymore
-Just kinda chilling but also confused. Help his old ass
-If you want to scare him let him go alone and like,make him unnerved by some shit with like mystery story plots. After he walks out heâs like âNope im not sleeping tonight satan.â
Pesci
-For the love of god donât let him near a haunted house,especially not inside one
-That one vine with âIâm not scared,im not a pussyâ is him when he got confidence by Pros until he screams so fucking loud. No joke.
-Is already crying at the first jumpscare like save him.
-Always goes with somebody or a lot of people and probably hides himself between them.
-If he gets chased he lets out one of the most horrified screams and speedruns the hell out of there that the actors just didnât even realize he ran past them
-Crying heavily like god donât let him go in there again. He can be confident of course but haunted houses and horror scare him too much.
-Literally anything can scare him. Just donât make him too much frightened
Melone
-Not gonna lie heâs kinda funny. He definitely comments on everything and says how it looks nice
-âŠOr the suggestive way where he makes sex jokes and everyone is âMelone stopâ
-Loves the actors and how they are dressed despite looking like a dissolved tree
-His screams are alright and always takes a breather after and says âoh my godâ before complimenting every damn actor he sees
-Doesnât mind going alone or with someone
-If heâs getting chased then he will run and then laugh after.
-Just chilling most of the time he does get scared but takes it lightly
-How to scare him is yet again simple ways,he wonât be horrified but hey,itâs at least effective
Ghiaccio
-Donât ever bring him into a haunted house ever. Not cause heâs a crybaby (He isnât) but because it literally sucks to have him there.
-Beats the shit out of an actor for one scare and everyone has to hold him in place.
-Got kicked out of the haunted house
-Doesnât like anything,in fact he rants about the entire thing.
-He has the same damn scream when heâs scared and cusses everything out
-Is forced to go with someone due to his bad temper
-If he gets chased heâs either: Fighting back or skating the fuck out with white album
-Please donât let him in any damn haunted house because of this he literally doesnât want to and it will ruin his day
-He scares easily but the aftermathâŠHope you donât get a broken nose
Sorbet/Gelato
-Purposely scares the group for their entertainment
-Was one of the people who suggested to go in there and they did
-Loves the blood decoration and kinda wishes it was actual blood instead of props.
-When they got scared Gelato clings onto Sorbet out of fear but then laugh cause they take it lightly
-These two always go together,donât disturb their experiences btw or else they would make your dead body a prop.
-When they are getting chased Sorbet just drags Gelato with him.
-Pretty joyous time not gonna lie. Felt more like a date than a scare
-To scare them please put on these fake smoke things with a loud noise it would scare the fuck out of them
There you have it. Maybe Iâll do them as horror movie slashers next. Or Iâll drop a fanfic soon. Who knows?

the shapes in the silence (11)
new chapter at the behest of one of my patrons! hope you enjoy! >:)
warnings: terrible coping mechanisms, antagonistic but not "evil" deceit, semi-vivid panic attack, suicidal implications/thoughts, arguing, an antagonistic and also genuinely evil cliffhanger, take care for realsies
-
After a few days of solitude, Logan emerged from his room with a triumphant gleam in his eyes.
He dropped a comically large stack of paper onto the lounge table, interrupting their bi-monthly binge of Parks and Rec. Patton obligingly paused the television, smiling at the sight of the other Side.
Roman probably would have complained, except Virgil-- as Puff-- had been dozing on top of his head for the past twenty minutes, and one of his wings was draped over Romanâs face like a makeshift blindfold. So, he hadnât really been watching anyways. Â
âIâve figured it out,â Logan said, gesturing to the meticulous lines of not-so-meticulous handwriting. âThe shrinking.â
Everyone seemed to perk up in interest, and Virgil dropped onto Romanâs shoulder, kneading his claws lightly into the sash.
âYou know why?â Patton prompted after another moment of Logan preening.
âYeah, Specs, donât leave us in suspense!â Roman demanded, valiantly restraining his gesturing for the sake of not accidentally unbalancing Virgil. The two of them had only had to learn that lesson once.
Logan nodded, adjusting his glasses briefly. âMy current hypothesis is that our reduced states are the result of a sort of⊠mental lock. We shrink when the locking mechanism is triggered, and it takes a figurative key to restore our previous, normal stature.â
âA key?â Patton asked. âYou figured out how to undo it?â
âNot for everyone. Think of it as customized locks. Thereâs a different key for each of us, and Iâve only discovered my own.â
Virgil tilted his head curiously at Loganâs words. The first bit was about what heâd figured, but a âkeyâ to change back? He used to think he only changed back in his room, but there had been a couple of occasions where heâd shifted forms unexpectedly. None of the others had had to be in their rooms to change back, either.
Roman was frowning in thought. âWait, how in the name of Disney did you figure out your key?â
Logan looked delighted at the question. He moved to sit in his usual armchair, and then closed his eyes for a moment, his brow furrowing slightly and his mouth dropping into a frown.
In the next moment, he was doll-sized. âExtensive and rigorous experimentation,â he said, carefully getting to his feet on the plush chair fabric.
Roman and Patton immediately burst into excited chattering, each theorizing or commenting on Loganâs tiny stature, and Virgil quickly abandoned ship before Roman really did gesture him right into the air. He trotted along the back of the couch and kicked off of it, landing on the arm of Loganâs chair.
Logan looked up at him for a moment, before referring to a pile of tinier-than-normal flashcards pulled from his pocket. âPuff. I hope thereâs no âhard feelingsâ about my former hypothesis. It was nothing personal, I can assure you.â
It wasnât like the theory had been too far fetched. Virgil hopped down to the seat of the chair and brushed against Loganâs side like a large, scaly cat. It seemed to do the job of convincing Logan that they were cool.
Logan looked back over at the other two. âTime to continue the lecture, I believe.â
With that, he clapped his hands together in a familiar pattern, one that had been used in countless classrooms in Thomasâs life. Two normal claps, and then three rapid ones.
Almost immediately, Patton and Roman clapped the returning pattern, paused as though registering what theyâd done, and then turned to face Logan.
âWas⊠Did you just teacher-clap at us?â Roman asked, astounded.
Logan looked incredibly smug at his gambit working so perfectly, and Virgil barely had time to claw his way back up onto the armrest before the logical Side was back to normal.
âMy key,â he said, âis being listened to.â
Then, as though he couldnât resist, he added, âWhoâs falling behind now, Roman?â Â
Roman spluttered with exaggerated indignance, and Virgil was absolutely certain that Princey was going to spend the next several days rising to the challenge. He shook his wings out, the dragon equivalent of rolling his eyes.
Patton, on the other hand, clapped enthusiastically as though Logan had performed a magic trick. âWow, way to grow!â
Logan sighed deeply. Patton grinned, and then paused.
âSee, the only thing Iâm wondering now is, why is this happening to us all of the sudden? Itâs certainly not something weâve had to deal with before.â
There was a terse silence. Â
âIâm still working on theories in that regard,â Logan finally responded, mouth pinched slightly. âThere have been many periods in the past where certain upheavals in Thomasâs life have led to our surroundings or our very selves changing. Itâs entirely possible that this⊠âshrinkingâ effect is a similar case. That brings me to my next point: we need to speak with Thomas.â
Virgil noticed Roman grimace for a moment. âDoes he really need to know about all⊠this?â
âWe certainly canât keep it from him!â Patton replied as he walked closer to the rest of them and held out his arm. Virgil scaled it with ease, clambering up to perch on Patâs shoulder like a parrot. For once, he agreed with Roman. He wasnât sure this would end well, but... it wasnât his job to bring up doubts right now. âHeâs going to have to learn about it eventually, whether now or whenever he calls us up to talk about whatever is bothering him.â
âPrecisely,â Logan agreed. âThe more information we gather on this matter, the better.â
âI guessâŠ,â Roman crossed his arms, but conceded. Patton gave him an encouraging hug.
âPlus,â he added as he pulled away, âif we go now, we can have Thomathy meet Puff!â
A beat late, Virgil realized just what that meant, and a flood of panic washed out the peaceful haze in his mind. They couldnât take him to see Thomas! What if his host recognized him?
⊠What if he didnât?
âItâs fine with me,â Logan added. âHe does seem to be a rather permanent fixture in the Mindscape, though Iâm not sure what that says about Thomas.â
âIt says that heâs simply the coolest,â Roman shot back, his spirits seemingly lifted by the idea. He reached over and lifted Virgil off Pattonâs shoulders, holding him in the air and spinning in a dizzying circle. âYouâll love Thomas, Puff, just you wait.â Â
âWhy wait?â Patton chimed in with an excited smile. âIâll go let the kiddo know weâre coming!â
He sank out, and Logan spent a short moment making sure his tie was properly aligned before following. Roman tilted his head slightly as though listening to an invisible sound before smiling widely. âThereâs our cue!â
Before Virgil could do more than feel a sense of impending doom, the world was blurring and shifting around them, and he was dragged up along with Roman.
The dizziness as he entered the real world was so heady that he nearly blacked out, his head spinning. When his vision cleared, he realized he was being held up like an infant Simba.
Right in front of his hostâs face. He froze like a deer in the headlights, mind screaming wordlessly.
âTa-da!â Roman announced. âThe newest, cutest denizen of your mind! Aside from me, of course.â Â
Thomas leaned in slightly, no trace of disgust or fear on his face. It made him look younger. âWoah. Hey there, little guy. Puff, right?â
He held his hand out carefully, and almost magnetically, Virgil placed a tiny, clawed hand on it. An encouraging smile was all it took, and then he was abandoning all caution and climbing right into the arms of the one who was supposed to fear him the most.
Thomas just shifted obligingly to create a better platform, and ran a thumb over his spine scales. Virgil craned his head up to look, and saw only quiet astonishment and awe on his hostâs face.
There was no question. He didnât recognize him.
Virgil had no idea what the emotion in the pit of his stomach was-- an amalgam of relief, disappointment, terror, sadness, so dense it was physically painful-- but after a moment, he let himself go lax. He could deal with it later. He could deal with everything later.
For now, his host was holding him close like he was something treasured, something precious. It was more than heâd ever hoped for and all he could ever need.
Whenever Thomas spoke, he could feel the words vibrating in his hostâs chest. It was almost like a hug. He stayed there, content to listen only vaguely as the others explained what was going on and tried to work out the reason why.
After a while of circular discussion, Thomas went a little tense, catching Virgilâs attention. He hesitated for a moment before speaking.
âWeâre trying to figure out whatâs going wrong to cause this⊠inner turmoil, right? Why donât we get Anxiety in on this? If thereâs one thing heâs good at, itâs coming up with worst-case scenarios.â
Virgil went still and frozen, and Romanâs gaze darted down to him for a moment before his expression firmed into a frown. âAbsolutely not. That villain wonât have anything helpful to contribute.â
âOn the contrary, I believe Thomas has a point. Anxiety could have a side to this story that we havenât heard yet, but if we were just to ask him,â Logan countered, âhe may share.â
âKind of strange that he hasnât popped up already,â Patton added with a concerned frown. âThe kiddo doesnât generally like it when people talk about him without him there.â
âLetâs at least give it a shot,â Thomas decided, lifting a hand. âAnxiety!â
No, no no no. This wasnât how he wanted it to go. Virgil braced for the irresistible tug on his core, the breaking apart of his fragile peace--
It didnât come.
There was no pull. Why wasnât he feeling the pull? He couldnât detect even the slightest call, which was impossible, unless--
Perfectly on cue, a dark figure appeared from thin air on the staircase, jumpscaring Thomas and offering a mocking smirk.
âYou called?â
It⊠was him. It was Anxiety, dark hoodie and darker eyeliner, sneer and all. Virgil felt the strangest disconnect from his own identity for a moment before things snapped back into place. No summons, his own desire for secrecy, a perfect doppelganger.
Deceit.
A low, rumbling growl started up in his chest, and his hackles rose instantly at the sight of that liar daring to wear his face.
Thomasâs hands jerked away in surprise, and Patton reached over to soothe him. âEasy, Puff. He wonât do anything to you, promise.â
âThatâs right,â Roman agreed in a completely different tone, stepping forwards to put himself between the fake Anxiety and the others, as though Virgil was pathetic enough to be worried about himself and not whatever bullshit Deceit-As-Anxiety was about to feed the others. His growl lowered in volume, but refused to taper off.
âLike I care about your newest pet project,â Fake-Anxiety said, rolling his eyes in disdain. âIâm just here to do what I do best: tell you how you messed up.â
Logan frowned at him. âYou believe our current situation is the result of Thomas erring in some way?â
âNot just some way. All the ways. Itâs obvious, isnât it?â Fake-Anxiety said, gesturing widely to Thomas with one hand. âSomethingâs wrong with you. Youâre broken.â
âThatâs not true,â Patton said firmly, frowning in disapproval. âAnxiety, I expected better from you.â
Virgil felt his throat close up, even though he wasnât really the one Patton was speaking to. It wasnât like Patton knew that. How was he ever going to look anyone in the eye after this?
âWait, what? How am I broken?â Thomas asked, not as indignantly as Virgil would have preferred. He gently butted his head against Thomasâs arm for morale-boosting purposes.
âI mean, think about it,â Fake-Anxiety said, spreading his palms open in a faux innocent gesture. âHow many times have you screwed up in the past couple of weeks? Speaking with family, hanging out with friends, even just basic customer service interactions. Those were all your fault, and you know it.â
Thomasâs hands shook slightly. âIâŠâ
âFalsehood,â Logan cut in sharply, his expression severe. âA person cannot be âbrokenâ, particularly not for simple mistakes. In any case, there is no meaningful connection to be drawn between your baseless accusation and our current conundrum.â
Before Fake-Anxiety could respond, Pattonâs hands flew to his mouth. âWait. Kiddo, you donât really think that about yourself, do you?â
All eyes turned to Thomas, who hesitated just a beat too long. âNo⊠I mean, not entirely. Not all the time.â
âThomasâŠâ Roman looked stricken. âThereâs no reason to feel bad about yourself!â
âEmotions⊠are often without reason,â Logan said, sharing a look with Patton. âThis is important information, though. Itâs entirely possible that a negative sense of self could affect us, as aspects of yourself. This could be the cause.â
âThen⊠How do I fix it?â Thomas asked, voice strained.
âYou canât,â Fake-Anxiety said, inspecting his nail polish as though bored. âYouâre going to be stuck like this forever.â
âThe first step,â Logan said, with a complicated glance towards the figure on the stairs, âis not letting negative thoughts control you. I was hoping Anxiety would be able to shed a light on our discussion, but itâs become clear that heâs⊠not in a helping mood.â
Fake-Anxiety clicked his tongue. âIâm helping. Helping you not make an even bigger embarrassment out of yourself.â
âDonât listen to that villain,â Roman told Thomas, glancing down at âPuffâ. âYou have the power to send him away, Thomas.â
âDonât bother. Iâve said my piece, and you know Iâm right.â Fake-Anxiety gave a mocking salute before sinking out, making brief eye contact with Virgil as he did.
âHeâs not right⊠right?â Thomas asked, his face a little pale. âI mean, itâs Anxiety.â
In his arms, Virgil tucked his limbs in tighter against himself.
âYou are not broken,â Logan reiterated calmly. âTake a few deep breaths.â
âYou do feel bad, though,â Patton said, a hand pressed over his heart in sympathy. âKiddo... why donât you take today for yourself?â
âThatâs right!â Roman gripped Thomasâs shoulder comfortingly. âDo something that youâll enjoy, and you can worry about everything else tomorrow, okay? Weâll sort things out on our end.â Â
They spoke for a little longer, making new plans and cancelling old ones, and Virgil felt as though his mind was full of static. Eventually, finally, he was back on Romanâs shoulder, ready to sink out.
âNice meeting you, Puff,â Thomas waved, and something in Virgilâs chest twisted painfully at it all. He chirp-crooned back, and it felt like a goodbye.
-
Luckily for him, the others were all preoccupied with their own thoughts and plans. It took almost no effort to slip away, and before he knew it he was back in his own room, in the form that everyone hated.
His summon was nonverbal and insistent, and before long, Deceit appeared before him, this time in his own skin. Virgil wanted to yell, to rage and vent the emotions inside of him.
âHow could you?â Instead, his voice came out quiet. Cold. Betrayed.
Deceit shifted, a flash of discomfort crossing his face before he composed himself. âThey needed a villain. Last I checked, it was you who cast yourself in that role.â
A villain. He felt himself shaking, distantly. âYou used me. Like an object.â
âTo help Thomas--â
âTo frighten him into doing what you wanted!â Virgil said, voice finally rising. âTo guide the others like puppets on strings and to make me take the fall for your plan!â
âThis is for you, too!â Deceit finally snapped back, before taking a deep breath. âThis isnât a framing, Virgil. Itâs an opportunity. They wonât look for you, and that gives me enough time to fix things. Come home.â
Virgil laughed, once, harsh like broken glass. âNo.â
Deceit held up a hand, sweeping it downwards and shifting himself into Fake-Anxiety again. It was like looking in a mirror, but the reflection was⊠different, this time. It wasnât the one that had sat on the stairs before.
âLook at yourself, Virgil. Look at what youâve been doing to yourself.â
The bags under his eyes were dark and sallow. He was shaking and sweating, his breath coming in stuttering gasps. His body looked like itâd been having consecutive panic attacks for days on end, and there were plenty more coming.
âYou donât have to do this anymore. We both know that youâd have an easier time if Thomas wasnât always fighting against you.â
He tore his eyes away from the reflection. If he thought about it for too long, heâd spiral, and then all of it-- every comment, every look, everything heâd been tucking away for the past weeks-- would come rushing up to meet him. Like hitting water from a hundred feet up and finding it felt like concrete. Like drowning.
âVirgil?â
He was tired of this. âGet out.â
Deceit said something else, but it was his room, and it followed his will. The other Side was evicted, shoved out, gone. He took a breath, but it felt too shallow and caught in his lungs.
He wasnât going to get anything done in this form. He wasnât of any damn use in this form. Nobody wanted him like this. Why not ease his grip, let go?
He wouldnât have to be Anxiety and everything that came with it. It would be selfish, but-- but Puff was better for everyone, not just him. It made sense.
He sighed in relief as the transformation washed away the vice grip around his lungs and the dizzying pounding of his head. The feelings were muffled, as though heâd put on thick, good quality headphones. It was nice.
It was also harder to focus in this form, unfortunately, but the idea-- the solution remained helpfully stuck in his head. He easily found his way into Romanâs room to collect what he needed, but Roman himself was absent.
He padded down to the commons, and found all three of them were there. Their discussion came to a halt as he carefully jumped up on the couch, dropping his prize into Romanâs lap.
âOh, PuffâŠâ Roman seemed sad, so he kneaded the creative Sideâs leg with the dull edge of his claws.
âWhat is that?â Patton asked curiously.
Roman shifted, as though anticipating a scolding. âItâs a charmed bracelet. I designed it to keep Anxiety away from Puff. And you know what? I was right to make it! You saw how he acted today!â
Patton bit his lip but remained quiet. Something about the silence hurt, but that was okay. It wouldnât hurt for long. He nudged the bracelet slightly, impatient.
âWhy hasnât he been wearing it, then?â Logan asked, a curious bend to his eyebrows.
âHe⊠Well, he didnât want it at first. Put it on yours truly instead,â Roman replied, carefully brushing a hand over Virgilâs head. âI suppose he changed his mind.â
âDid Anxiety really scare him that badly?â Patton asked, voice heartbroken.
Roman frowned determinedly and finally started undoing the clasp. âWhatever that scoundrel did, he wonât be able to bother Puff anymore. This will make sure of it.â
He carefully wound the bracelet around Virgilâs neck, gently adjusted it until it fit right, and reconnected the ends. The last thing Virgil saw before the world went hazy was the three of them, the best parts of Thomas, looking back at him without any fear or hatred.
Then, there was only Puff.

nct dream as roommates
a/n:Â *romantically calls you bro*Â
lee markÂ
the roommate that walked in on you taking a shower on the first night you moved in and avoided you for a week afterward
he even went as far as browsing different apartments to live in because baby boy was too afraid to face you
sometimes wakes up before you and he always prepares your coffee or tea and sets it by your bed for you when you wake upâŠsometimes sits on the edge of your bed to watch you
asks you to do his laundry because he doesnât know how to separate the colors
youâre fine with doing them because he tries his absolute bestest with everything else, and itâs so cute
the first time he did the laundry you were sickâŠand you got a whole new wardrobe of pink clothing the next day
always does the dishes and you do the laundryâŠheâll clean the living room and kitchen if you clean the bathroomsâŠheâll go grocery shoppingâŠonly if you go with him
asks you to do his hair when he meets up with his friends, and if you say no he says âokayâ and then pouts until you agree
you really like photography but hiring models is expensive so you always ask mark to model for you
and he always agrees, blushing while doing so
make-up artists are expensive too, so you also get him dressed up and add whatever you want to his face
(once you did a fairy photoshoot and he had freckles and pink cheeks and your heart did the thing)Â
this time you need him to sit still for hours because it's supposedly a big photoshoot with a few other photographers coming too, so thereâs a lot of looks to get throughÂ
you do the first look before you get to the photo site to save time
he thinks nothing of you curling his hair until he looks up at you and time slows as his heart stopsâŠ
because you smell like vanilla and your nose is scrunched in concentrationâŠbecause your breathing is heavy as you run to the bathroom to get more things before youâre lateâŠ
because youâre biting your lip while looking at him, admiring your own work, proud of the way the make-up came out, but a little disheartened because it looked like you put a little too much blush (even though you only put a little)Â
and mark thinks,,, oh no
fuck
huang renjun
your best friend since you were a child
youâre used to âliving with himâ because you practically lived with him as a kid; you were always at his house spending the night or vice versaÂ
he wakes you up an hour after he gets up because âhe needs his peaceful timeâ
claims that âyouâre the worst person to live withâ but refuses to look for another apartment because âno one else can handle you but meâ
(in reality, he knows that there will never be anyone else heâss comfortable with as you)Â
he wakes you up by throwing a pillow in your face and or flopping on your bed next to you and bouncing a few times
once got really scared because you werenât waking up no matter what he did, and when he started to tear up you opened your eyes and pushed him off the bedÂ
you just didnât want to be woken up that day and tried to ignore him, but apparently, you ignored him for too long because he genuinely freaking out on the inside
heâs watched âwhatâs eating gilbert grapeâ okay he was SCARED
he didnât talk to you for three days after that....only started to wake you up again because you made the effort to wake up before him and make him breakfast in bed with hot tea
he expected you to leave his room after you gave it to him, but you just looked at him for a minute before sitting on the bed next to him, getting under the covers with himÂ
he focused on the fact you were taking up all the space instead of the now-familiar thrum of his heartbreak against his ribcage
(heâs felt it for the past fewyears, heâs gotten used to drowning it out)Â
ây/nnnnnnn what are you doinggggggâ
âshut up i made the breakfast, canât i at least sit next to my favorite boy?â
...heâs your favorite boy?...okaythatwasreallycutebutheâllneveradmitit
âo...kay...â
blushes when you lay your head on his shoulder in bed, watching whatever heâs doing on his phone, because your cheek is warm against his shirt and its bleeding through onto his skin and weiowioegfhowieh
but also yells at you when you take a bite of his toast and bolt out of the room, giggling
âyAH y/Nâ
lee jeno
the roommate that was awkward for the first month because he didnât really want to room with a girl because then he canât spend saturday with the boysÂ
then he brought them home one day without telling you and was expected to get his ass Whopped but you were drinking vodka and crying while watching Cars so
yeah you were the perfect roommate for him
you drink together
saturday may be for the boys but sunday is for drinking your problems away with your roommateÂ
canât cook but will make BOMB desserts for you both every friday...also fridays are pizza nights and you both order a large cheese pizza with ranch on the side and a pint of dr.pepper
yall have the same diet but he has a six-pack and you donât so you call bullshit on health and everything it is
both of you fall asleep on the couch all the time, TV still playing the game soundtrack with the controllers on the floor, blinking from low battery
jeno alwayswakes up before you, and he doesnât admit it, but he loves to watch you sleep
you just look so...etherealÂ
even with the drool
ANYWAY
you are one of the bros...heâs even taken a shit when you took a shower before -- thatâs how close you areÂ
then one day you get dressed up real pretty and heâs making fun of you, laughing âyou never look this nice whoâs holding you at gunpointâ
âiâm going on a date jeno hop off my DICKâ
â,,,whatâ
immediately felt defensive and was questioing who could like you and why you were going on a saturday night when it was busy on the streets and also please call the guy and cancel the date because he wants to watch toy story with you and eat pasta why are you going out with someone has he met him why havenât you told jeno about this guy you know what you should just not go
and itâs when you walk out the door rolling your eyes, promising to be back home before 9pm with a cute shirt on and nice perfume on when jeno realizesÂ
that damn he hates to see you leave,,,but he loves to watch you go
(and he might have the teeniest, weeniest crush on you)Â
lee donghyuck
the type to never clean the dishes and always makes you do them even if he cooks because he hates the feeling of wet food
then one day he sees you v e r y stressed over school work and he just...cleans the whole house
you come back from the library and youâre like,,,the fuck whereâs haechan and what have you done with him
in turn, you buy him a headset that heâs been wanting for the past year...and you think heâs about to propose to you after you give them to him
but in all reality heâs just so happy that you even remembered something so trivial...like he talking about them once (1) and you remembered?
...cute bitch
heâs a big prankster, but in an endearing way, so whenever he goes too far you never really stay mad because heâs just a little unaware of the anger his pranks cause
plus you always get back at himÂ
always :)
you both are basically the same people; youâre passionate about your studies and heâs passionate about gaming and dancing
yall are the bad bitches that no one messes withÂ
BET that yall wear matching fits whenever you two go out together
you get together to watch his favorite youtubers do letâs plays of popular games
one day yall sit down to watch some outlast 2
and boy
did you underestimate the scare factor
so now youâre three episodes deep into the letâs play and your head is buried in haechans stomach because youâre laying down facing away from the TV, clinging to the poor boy
he doesnât know if his heart is beating so fast because of the jumpscare or because of the way you look up at him when you ask if the scary part is over yet
he doesnât like seeing you scared with tears in your eyes...but the way youâre clinging to him makes him want to watch a thousand more scary episodes...
...if it means youâll cuddle with him
na jaemin
the best roommate you could ever ask for
he loves to clean and cook, not to mention heâs an absolute sweetheart!!!!!!!
you started to live with him because you had posted an ad on a website for a roommate and he sent back a reply
but the texts used so many of (=ïœÏÂŽ=) these emojis you just assumed it was a girl
he was not
every night before you go to bed, heâll walk into your room and whisper âgood night, sleep wellâ to you before petting you head and walking out
people always wonder if youâre dating, but you always reply that itâs just the way he is
until one night you invite your (asshole) project partner to your apartment and she flirts with him endLESSLY,,, not doing her work or anything, just talking with jaems
like itâs pissing you off, and you think itâs pissing him off, and youâre about to send her home when you notice the storm outside and you realize,,,, youâre too good of a person to do that
so she sleeps on the couch, and you do the same, just so you can keep an eye on her and so that she isnât left alone with jaemin at any point (poor boy looked like heâs about to combust if she tries to talk to him again)Â
and jaemin does his usual routine even with the extra company, stroking your head and even going as far as to place a kiss on your forehead
âwhat about me, do I get a kissâ the girl annoyingly asked
âno, youâre not ynâ and hE WALKS AWAY AND CLOSES THE DOOR TO HIS ROOMÂ
thereâs silence in your head as you process his words, a little shocked and confused as to what he means, but most of all, your thoughts consist of;
oh shit oh shit oh shit oh shit
you might have just fallen for him (letâs face it, youâve been in love with him (just not as long as heâd been in love with you))Â
zhong chenle
not going to lie, you two did NOT get along in the beginning
you were each otherâs first roommates, and you knew he was extroverted, but you underestimated the differences between your personalities
like,,, no please donât invite the dreamies over again for the eighth time this week I canât focus on homework with all the screaming
but even with all the head-butting, the chores are split evenly because heâs practicing to âbe marriage material for his future wifeâ
you donât care as long as he just does what heâs supposed to, and you two arenât exactly the closest
but there are times when you connect, like on lazy Sunday afternoons where you both just relax on the couch...anywaY
and he always rolls his eyes, telling you that âyou need to stop being a hermit and make some friendsâ
âget some confidenceâ
âwhy donât you put any effort into how you dressâ
it hurts a little...you know youâre not the prettiest and you donât really try anyway
but to have it pointed out to you just...stings
and after a guy rejects you (after you built up courage for a whole years to confess to him) your confidence is at an all-time low (he said no because âyou were too blandâ like wtf fUCk you)
and youâre just crying and eating spaghetti oâs, telling chenle as oon as you walk into the door that youâre âtoo sensitive for his bullshit todayâÂ
to which chenle doesnât care... then he sees your puffy eyes and asks wha happens
you tell him, and he just gets...angry
(and jealous?)
he goes on a tangent, mocking the guy, saying that âyouâre the most doen-to-earth natural beautyâ heâs ever seen and that âany guy who doesnât fall in love with your cute sarcastic personalityâ is dumber than a rock
he grumbles for the rest of the night, sitting and watching movies with you; it makes your heart swell that heâs getting so mad for you
and at the end of the mini-movie night, and he strokes your hair saying that youâre âhis little introvertâ,
you decide that âopposite attractâ is 100% true
(and chenle notices that you have very pretty lips)
park jisung
you two are dorm roommates at a dance school, and yâall are so cute all the teachers LOVE you
like you both just spend so much time together itâs ridiculous
yall walk to class together, then from class to class together, eat lunch together, after school activities, walk back to the dorms, meet each otherâs friends, go out on the weekends together...everything
it feels weird to not be with him
(the teachers have a bet that youâll be dating before your senior year)
the dorm is just a studio apartment with two bedrooms (your parents both pay a lot for space)Â
so chores arenât too hard, in fact, you both usually spend the last few hours of daylight on Sunday nights straightening up your apartment from the hectic week before, to start off completely fresh and new
nothing big ever happens on Sundays around the home, but one day jisung (who went to hang out with chenle (he invited you but you pouted and said you had too much hmwk)) found a little puppy on the side of the road
and then proceeded to sneak into the dorms with it, hiding it under his shirt
when he showed you what he found, you couldnât be mad...it was just so cute (both jisungâs little smile and the puppy)Â
but you noticed it was shivering, and you whined, âjisung you didnât even notice it was cold oH My GoD, go get it some water and foodâ while you set up a nest of blankets for the little guy
hours later when the puppy had eaten and subsequently fallen asleep in your lap, you turned to jisung
âletâs name it mousieâ
âwhat thatâs dumbâ
âitâs not dumb! i wanna name it that because it looks like you whenever you sleep! it's so cute heheheâ
you thought jisung was WHAT when he slept
jisung didnât talk for a whole minute, drinking in your words and thinking about them over and over again, in the meantime you were just smiling down at the puppy
your cheeks were red with happiness and your nose was a little red from sneezing (because the puppy was covered in pollen from being outside) and your gaze was filled with such love that jisung shivered
you let out a sigh and plopped your head on his shoulder, and all his feelings heâd ever had for you exploded in his chest, and he tensed (though if you noticed, you didnât day anything)
you just kept and petting the dog
and damn did jisung want to be that dog

Give Me a Child? - Kiro Zhou
Type - Smut with fluff at the end
Warnings - NSFW, vaginal sex, food play, internal cumshot, oral (female recieving), pregnancy fluff
Word count - 2245
A/N - HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIRO!! I apologize for being inactive lately! MCâs name is Ash, I felt like giving her the name of the close friend who requested this. Also, a big thank you to @among-starz for proofreading this <3
Your husband, Kiro, is currently on tour. You feel quite lonely whenever he leaves for work, but what can you do? Apple Box gives you a sad face as he sits on your lap. He places his paws on your chests as a plea for attention.
âDo you miss daddy too?â
âRuff!â, he barks.
âI know, he hates us so much~. He left his wife and puppy home alone~.â
âDaddy missed his little girl very much. He didnât miss his dog too much, though.â, someone whispers in your ear.
You nearly ascend to the high heavens at the jumpscare Kiro gives you. He moves Apple Boxâs paws from you so he can cup your chest instead. You try to keep every bit of your composure as Kiro kneads your breasts over your shirt. Apple Box quickly leaves your lap to greet the sunshine in your living room.
âAlright, alright. Iâll give you some love too.â, He says as he bends down to pet the corgi.
âDid you bring food? It smells like takeout.â
âNot even a greeting for me? I guess Miss Chips doesnât love meâŠâ, he pouts.
âOh, Kiro! My dearest husband is back! I missed you so much!....Did you bring food or not?â
âI guess~. I brought some ramen for us. If only I could get a kissâŠâ
You chuckle as you give him a kiss. Kiro hands you your already fixed bowl and comes to sit with you.
âHow did you already put this together without a noise?â
âA superhero never reveals his secrets.â
The two of you snuggle while you eat and watch your favorite shows together. The small lab is sleeping in his bed. Kiro caresses your body, especially your stomach after you finish eating. The show keeps going, but Kiro is keeping his focus on you.Â
âKiiiirrrroooooooâ, you whine.
âYes, Ash?â
âWhy are you rubbing my stomach so much?ââ
âTo help aid digestion, of course.â
You accept that answer and continue watching your show. Then kisses fall on the nape of your neck. Kiroâs soft fingers push down the waistband of your pajama shorts. Kisses from silk lips touch down on to your heated cheeks.
âBe quiet, or youâll wake up Apple Boxâ, he teases.
âBut Kiro, I donât think-â, he cuts you off by rubbing your clit.
âSorry, what?â
âI, uhn, I canât,â, a loud moan slips from your parted lips.
âAshâŠâ
Slight panting is the only thing youâre listening to. You notice as a digit slips into your heat, then another.
âHow would you feel if I asked you to have my children?â
The subject had been brought up during your honeymoon while Kiro did a short livestream. Both of you had decided youâd both wait awhile before the next step together. You brought it up recently, but it never spurred more than a chat. The fingers he slipped in are waiting to move.
âAre you sure youâre ready, Kiro? What about your job?â
âIâm positive, Ash. Besides, it feels like the right moment. Do you want to try now? We donât have to if you don't want-â
âIâm ready.â, you say with confidence.
âReally!?â, Kiro beams while he moves to finger you.
âYe, ummm, yeahâŠâ, you sigh out.
Kiro pulls away from your heated arousal, then carries you to your shared room. He drops you on the bed, making you giggle from the bounce. He strips you of your clothes, button after button at a snail's pace. A whine from your lips urges your husband faster. As Kiro finishes, a light bulb lights on top of his head.
âIâll be back in a minute~â, Kiro says in a singsong voice.
He leaves the room quickly only to return with a jar of honey. You give him a quizzical look. Kiro is wearing the signature cheeky grin, the one he wears when he sneaks snacks behind Savinâs back. You watch him strip quickly as you lay on the bed.
âLetâs try something new tonightâ, he smirks.
He slowly crawls on top of you. The memory foam mattress imprinting every curve of your body. You barely notice as the sticky honey is poured onto your abdomen. Kiro draws you in an enchanting kiss as he puts the jar on the nearby nightstand. Kiro breaks away to move further down. The feeling of his warm tongue lapping at your belly feels pretty good.
âKiro, uhn, stop teasing me!â
âBut I have to make sure all the honey is all gone before I stop!â
As he finishes licking the remainder of the honey, the cheeky bastard scoops up more honey and smears it onto your throbbing clit.
âMiss ChipsâŠâ, he says before leaving a long lick along your slit.
You tangle your fingers into golden locks. Your toes are already curling into the sheets.
âNo matter how many snacks I eat, youâre always my favorite.â, he murmurs in between your legs.
Kiro starts out slowly, teasing licks against your aching cunt. Slowly letting his tongue glide in and out of your hole as he holds your legs up. As a few minutes pass, his pace quickens. Kiroâs muscle is fucking you, sliding in at a fast pace. Your moans turn into pants for air.
âK-kiro....!â, you yell out.
âBe a good girl and cum on my tongueâ
You let your orgasm rip through you. Kiro gladly sucks up your leaking essence. Your legs fall limp once he lets go.
âTired already, baby? I havenât even fucked you.â, your husband croons.
âKiro, please, just fuck me already.â, you beg lightly.
âAs you wish, my princessâ.
Kiro uses your slick folds to lube himself before he enters you slowly. Your jaw drops as his thick cock stretches you out. A groan of approval comes from Kiroâs throat.
âGod, babygirl. I swear you get tighter every time I fuck you.â
âPlease, start moving! I want you so badly!â
Kiro starts moving. You can feel each little ridge as he slowly pulls out. He hears a little whine from you, so he thrusts even harder. Kiro lowers himself to rest his forehead on yours.
âI love you so much, Ash.â, he moans out.
You can only moan as a response to his words. Youâre drowning in the ocean of pleasure as he starts pounding into you roughly.
âKeep going! Keep going, oh god Iâm so close.â
Kiro kisses your lips softly. His left hand moving to twist your nipples as his right hand rubs your clit. Your second orgasm of the night runs through your body. Kiro comes after you, deep breaths coming from his lungs.
âYeah? You want me to keep pounding you until I spill deep inside you?â
âPlease! Give me all your cum! I want your babies!â
âThat felt so good, Ro..â
âIâm not done with you yet, Ash. I have to show how much I missed you.â
Your night is filled with moans and screams of passion. Kiro came in you again, and again. Youâre pretty sure you wonât be able to walk a straight line in the morning.Â
In the morning following suit, youâre surprised to see Kiro up early for once.
âWhat are you doing?â, you yawn out.
âI gotta see if Savin can pick up some pregnancy tests. If he can't then I need to put on a disguise then get some myself.â
âCanât you do that later? I wanna cuddle still.â
âIf Savin can get them, then we can cuddle more.â
A minute or two passes by. Kiro sighs after a phone ding.
âLooks like Iâm free to cuddle. Come here, Miss Chips!!â
The next time your try is next week. Kiro has been very busy at the studio. It came to the point where you barely saw him at home the past couple of days. Since it was Kiroâs day off today, he had no other plans other than being hilt deep inside you all day. One minute you were cuddling on the couch, the next you were in nothing but your thigh highs. Kiro is already playing with your tits while you grind on his thigh.
âGo on baby, cum on my thigh.â
âButâŠ.but Iâll make your jeans, haaah, dirty..â, you stumble out as he pinches your nipples.
âI donât give a fuck about my jeans. Just let go.â, he murmurs.
You let the tight coil in your stomach snap. Youâre still rolling on the waves of your first orgasm as Kiro lays you on your stomach.
âLift your ass upâ, he commands.
You let out a whimper as you move your legs to the position Kiro wants you in. The soft throw pillow helps your upper body feel comfortable. Kiro digs his fingers into your hips, surely going to leave bruises tomorrow. You wiggle your bare ass against clothed hardness. With the sound of metal being unzipped and unbuckled, your cunt is filled to the brim in one swift thrust. You yelp out in surprise as he pounds into you mercilessly from behind. He bows down over your body to outline the shell of your ear with his tongue. You can feel his hot breath ghost over the nape of your neck. The flutter of your walls earns a groan. You purposefully clench around his thick cock again, earning a hard smack to your ass. A series of moans follows your loud whimper.
âPlease! Please Kiro, I want to cum!!â Your body is humming.
âDo you deserve to?â, he mumbles into your ear as he reaches down to stroke your clit.Â
âYes, yes, pleaassse! I want your babies, please, cum inside me!â He thrusts start growing faster and erratically.Â
âCome on, Ash. Release yourself all over my cock.â
You feel an eruption of warmth blooms between your legs as you roll on the waves of your second orgasm. Kiroâs cum paints the inside of your pussy in white spurts. He waits a minute before pulling out and turning you on your back. Your husband adjusts the pillow that held your upper body and pulls it down to your lower back.
âRoro, this feels silly..â
âWe canât let anything essential drip out! Just for half an hour, Miss Chips.â
Kiro pouts playfully, so you agree to keep your waist up high. He makes sure that youâre okay and not in any pain. He brings you some cold water out of the fridge.
Of course, you and Kiro have many more nights of passion after, yet those two times were the most memorable. The pleasurable bruises that marked your body, and the chance of finally creating a little life form made you elated just thinking about it. After around three months of trying, Kiro was forced to leave for a tour yet again.
While heâs gone, you start to notice a dull ache in your head. Somedays, youâd wake up feeling like youâd puke your guts out. Even the smell of your favorite foods could set your sensitive stomach off. And the cravings of things you normally would eat, like chocolate with your chips? Something wasnât right.
You take a deep breath before entering the bathroom, a box of pregnancy tests in hand. Your eyes light up as you see two lines pop up, no longer seeing that pesky single line. You cried tears of joy. Over the course of the day, you take a couple more tests to confirm that you arenât going crazy, all of them coming out positive. Since you havenât seen Kiro in around two weeks, you decide to surprise him with the news the next night when he would be home.
An hour before your husband will be home, you put the one test you saved in a small rectangular box. You tie a pink and blue ribbon loosely to prevent the lid from popping open.
âŠ..
âMiss Chips! Your superhero Kiro is home!â
You nearly trip over your own feet as you rush over to your soulmate, the boxy clenched in your hands.
âKiro, Kiroo! I have a gift for you~!â Your body vibrates in excitement.
âAlright, alright! Let me see!â, he chuckles.
You hand him the box. He quickly removes the ribbon and opens it. You two stand there in silence as he looks at your test.
âK-Kiro? Are you okay?â Youâre met with silence.
âIâm sorry, KiroâŠ.I thought this was what you wanted..â
âIâm going to be a father?â He looks up at you, his eyes watering slightly.
Your frown turns into a smile the minute he embraces you in a bone crushing hug. You wrap your arms around his neck while leaving a small peck on his lips.
âMiss Chips, weâre going to be parents! Iâm going to be a dad!â
He picks you up gently and places you on the plush sofa. Kiro kneels in front of you, taking your hands and placing them on his cheeks as he rests his head on your stomach.
âThank you so much for everything, Ash⊠I couldnât even think of a life without my one and only love.â
âI love you too, Kiroâ, you say with a wide smile.
That nightâs movie night is one youâll never forget. Kiro whispered words of love that left you ecstatic. He rubbed your tummy while he cuddled you from behind. The happiness in his eyes each time youâd look over at him. Kiro was prepared to be given a cruel life at a young age, yet you turned his future around. He wouldnât have life any other way.

Sorry but Rin>>>>>>>>>>
Anyways onto the headcanons!!
All gender neutral btw:33
*Gifs are not mine:>
đYamazaki Sosukeđ
- Yikes I feel really bad for not liking him until the end of season two-
- But anyways,
- Sosuke is um... kinda dense I feel like.Â
- Like he doesnât really catch up on cues.
- The two of you could be out and there would be these girls staring at him.
- He would literally pay no mind and get confused when you start pulling him away.
-Â â(Y/n)? I thought you wanted to go into that store?â
-Â âSosuke those girls are staring, we can come back later.â
-Â âHuh? So theyâre staring, whatâs the deal?â
-Â âSosuke wha???â
- Yeah, that.Â
- But donât worry, he has eyes for you and YOU ONLY!!
- Lmao I feel like heâs popular with girls but heâll just turn them down straight up.
-Â âSorry, Iâm not interested, and I already have a partner.â
- Yike feelsbadman.
- Okay aside from all that, Sosuke is honestly an AMAZING BOYFRIEND LJAHDAWHD-
- Heâs very stoic in public, kinda harsh, but he has that one soft spot for you.
- Extra soft spot.
- With you heâs super caring, very sweet, protective, just sjkhncef yes.
- Definitely gets jealous sometimes when youâre getting too touchy feely with another guy.
- God forbid you to hug a guy in front of him.
- He isnât one to boast or show you off, heâs very lowkey with the relationship.
- Not much PDA, maybe a little bit of hand holding or finger linking but thatâs about it.
- When the first years found out you two were dating let me tell you they were shook.
- Momotarou was very, very jealous, to say the least.
- Probably didnât get intimate until like months into the relationship.
- And no I donât mean intimate as in sex but like kissing or sth like that.
- It took him some time to warm up to the idea of just a relationship, but kissing? Even longer.
- He had this mindset where it was like oh if I kiss her then Iâll start drifting out of focus and Iâll forget about swimming and then my dream is going to be out of reach and-
- Yeah, he still kissed you so...
- When he found out about his shoulder you were the first one he turned to.
- He couldnât let other people find out, but he trusted you.
- Awww he was devastated.
- He definitely didnât cry for hours.
- And he definitely didnât make your shirt wet from crying.
- And he absolutely did not refuse to let go of you at night when the two of you were about to sleep.
- Great boyfriend material, 9/10 would recommend bc of the obliviousness.
đąMakoto Tachibanađą
- Heâs the man.
- Like THE MAN.
- Youâve reached the top of the list.
- God DAMN HE IS SUCH A GOOD BOYFRIEND.
- Heâs genuinely caring, understandig, a tiny bit awkward, super sweet, if husbando material was a person, this would be it.
- He likes PDA definitely, but not like extreme PDA.
- Hand holding, maybe an arm around your waist, occasional peck on the cheek in public, about that.
- Not one to show you off but wouldnât mind doing that if anyone asked about it.
- âYeah, I do have an amazing partner, thanks for asking.â
- Likes it when you play w his hair!!
- Heâs just so supportive of everything you do oh god.
- You like gaming? Hell yeah, heâs cheering you on. Youâre an artist? Draw him like one of your French boys. Youâre a dancer? Hypes you up when youâre busting it down.
- Awww and heâs such a dork too!!
-Â If you guys have a movie night, pick a horror movie.
- Baby is so scared of the paranormal that heâll be clinging to you throughout the entire thing.
- âMako, it really isnât that scary-â
- âWeâre moving out if this apartment is cursed.â
- âMako you donât even live here yet.â
- Jumps so hard at jumpscares and just shoves his head into your neck even further.
- Itâs like an extra cuddle session.
- Except youâre laughing your ass off and heâs so scared that his soul probably left his body.
- Very soft spoken, and he hates to argue.
- I mean if you guys fight youâd usually just feel bad and apologise first.
- *cough because he usually never picks the fights.
- Lots of bear hugs and cuddles!!
- Is the big spoon, will forever be the big spoon.
- Okay he tries to cook he really does.
- But heâs so clumsy oh god.
- Usually results in the food being weirdly sweet, or an entire bag of cheese accidentally dumped onto the floor.
- Thank god he hasnât burned the apartment down yet.
- Just help him cook man he canât do it himself.
- Good at pretty much everything else though.
- Actually enjoys doing domestic stuff.
- I feel like some of the swim club members were jealous of you-
- Okay maybe not jealous but definitely envious.
- Honestly it seems like they would happily take your place and date Makoto but can you really blame them??
- Overall 10/10 because he seriously tried to sell your apartment on eBay once after a horror movie.
đŠRin MatsuokađŠ
- Oh god where do I even start.
- ROMANTIC.
- SUCH A CLASSIC ROMANTIC.
- THAT SHIT IS LITERALLY CANON AND I LIVE FOR IT.
- Definitely PDA.
- Will kiss you in front of people just to piss them off.
- Shows you off ALL THE TIME.
- âOh you can cook? Well so can my partner.â
- âOh you need help with maths? My partnerâs amazing at it gimme a second lemme call them.â
- Lmao it kinda annoys the swim club.
- âRin senpai, we know youâre not single, you donât have to rub it in...â ~Momotarou
- Does he care? No.
- Cheeky little shit, I love him-
- Will get jealous very, very easily.
- âBabe, that dude was looking at you weird, can we leave and come back?â
- âAwww is my baby Rin jealous~?â
- âShut up:)â
- Will not hesitate to fight anyone that hurts you.
- Takes you on the cheesiest dates.
- Beaches, stargazing, nice restaurant, libraries, anything that heâs seen in those old romance movies.
- And heâs such a gentleman when it comes down to it too.
- Holds the door open, gives you piggyback rides if youâre tired, literally kisses the back of your hand before every date, you name it.
- Oh my god Iâm so in love w this cheesy awkward dork-
- Heâs got a lotta shit bottled up so do expect him to get moody at times.
- Nothing a good cry and cuddle session canât fix though.
- Likes to feel you curled up against his chest while he plays with your hair.
- Presses your head closer so you can feel his heartbeat just like those kdramas portray it itâs not like he watches them or anything-
- If heâs crying then youâre gonna have to do the cuddling.
- Do the same to him as he does for you when the two of you cuddle.
- Except also stroke his hair and tell him everythingâs gonna be okay.
- He needs someone to show that they care thanks for coming to my ted talk.
- When youâre upset heâll probably start crying too.
- He canât stand to see someone he cares about upset.
- Hypes you up whenever he gets the chance.
- Will do stupid shit just to see you smile.
- Heâs actually very emotional and sensitive, so please take care of him.
- The dynamics in the relationship though like wow theyâre insanely good.
- The two of you are just straight vibing.
- Overall 11/10 because Iâm clearly biasedđđ

Watching horror movie hcs with the Sdr2 boys please!! You don't have to do all of them but teruteru and Gundham are big important 2 me,, ty in advance!!
Kazuichi
âAHH!!!â
âKaz, that was just the opening title...â
âB-But still! The music scared me!â The mechanic huffed as he curled up next to you, wrapped in a blanket. He was insistent on watching this horror movie with you, thinking he could just âman-upâ.
But you knew that no matter which one you chose, heâd still end up screaming like a girl half the time.
So you decided to bear with it, keeping your arm wrapped around him and letting him cling to you whenever. In all honesty it was cute seeing him unconsciously cuddling close to you whenever he thought another scare was coming.
You were used to it, considering youâve been the more âprotectiveâ one in the relationship.
About halfway through the movie, you felt Kazuichi trembling violently against you, which made you look at him with concern. Maybe the movie was getting to be too much. âYou wanna pause-?â
âAH! Oh..th-that was just you..â He blushed slightly, before sighing. âYeah..I..I kinda need a break. Sorry..I wish I wasnât such a goddamn wuss all the time.â
âThatâs alright.â Pausing the movie, you kissed his forehead. âYou know I wonât judge you for being scared, right?â
With a light smile, he just nuzzled into your shoulder, while you chuckled and put your arms around his still blanketed form., hugging him closer.
Youâll give him time to calm down before you resumed the movie.
..........
Gundham
âHmm, how about this one?â Gundham mused as he looked at the horror movieâs description on the streaming service, eyes widening as he read it thoroughly. âFascinating..a film thatâs supposedly cursed to those who dare watch it. But no matter, for the potential evil stored within this movie cannot-â
âI was thinking of this one, actually.â You took the remote and changed it to show a more cartoonish Halloween movie.
âWhat? Cartoons? Oh....and they even have those anthromorphic animals I so greatly despise..â He grumbled, crossing his arms and leaning back on the couch with a slight pout. âSuch an insult to the true nature of this earthâs creatures.â
â....Gundham, you didnât bat an eye when Chiaki introduced you to Animal Crossing. So thatâs no excuse.â
â.....a-ah..thatâs um..true.â Embarrassed, he covered his blush with his now orange scarf--decorated with bats and webs. His eyes then shifted to yours. âYou must forgive my poor memory.â
âDonât sweat it.â You wrapped an arm around him, taking amusement in seeing his blush only worsen at the closeness. âCâmon, this is a cult classic. Weâll watch it once and weâll never have to see it again. I promise.â
After debating for a few moments, the breeder gave in and sighed, letting his scarf go. âVery well. Then we shall watch this cartoonish âcult classicâ to the fullest.â
.........
Nagito
Least to say, watching a horror movie marathon with Nagito was...quite uneventful.
He seemed completely unfazed by the gore, jumpscares, and everything else regardless of which ones you chose.
You didnât let it bother you, knowing heâs been desensitized by a lot of terrible things he experienced due to his bad luck. So you werenât surprised he didnât react much to the grisly death scenes or scares.
By the end of the last movie, you were wrapped up in his jacket. And as the credits rolled you glanced at him, seeing him hugging himself in only a white shirt and jeans.
He noticed your lingering stare and flashed a tiny smile. âSorry, maybe you shouldâve watched this marathon with Sonia..instead of someone as boring as-â
However, he was silenced as you brought him into a hug, letting him lay down on top of you. With a chuckle, you kissed the top of his head. âItâs okay, I still enjoyed watching them with you. Plus you made me feel a lot better since you gave me your jacket. So thank you.â
The lucky student was surprised, but happy nevertheless. He snuggled against you and closed his eyes, fully content. âNo problem.â
............
Teruteru
âAVRIL LAVIGENE!!!â
âAgain with the celebrity references..â You sighed as the small chef hugged you tightly, shaking like a leaf. His hat had been long forgotten, having fallen to the floor after the movie scared him.
The two of you decided to pick a random horror film to watch--and it so happened to be one involving cannibalism.
Poor Teruteru was startled by every scare, though you just kept your arm wrapped around him, kissing the top of his head. The fact he didnât make any coy remarks about how close you two were was odd, but you said nothing about that.
Soon enough, you managed to get through the movie, with him blurting out at least five more celebrity names out of fear. After that, you put on a lighthearted cooking show to help him settle down.
âI-I probably wonât look at red meat...th-tha same way evâr again after dat..â He mumbled, his accent coming out in full swing as he still cuddled against you. âGotta make sure i-it ainât human..â
âDonât worry.â You hugged him closer. âIf it makes you feel better Iâll go check the labels.â

June Contest Submission #13: sound of rain
Words: ca. 5,500 Setting: mAU Lemon: No CW: Angst, incest shame, mentions of driving in storms
What were Annaâs greatest fears, you ask? Well, for starters, she was scared of clowns. And spiders. And those Minecraft icebergs videos on youtube that always played creepy music in the background and promised to not discuss creepypastas of any kind (but were always lying. Those especially kept her up at night).
However, not even the most predictable jumpscare, which always sent Anna falling off her chair like the adult she was, could hold a candle to the way her stomach sank when her mother called that one night at 7 pm. Anna could barely hear her phone below the branches rattling against the windows and the heavy rain loudly splattering on their roof. Sheâd already been on edge since she heard the wind blowing a little bit harsher than usual. It resembled a womanâs shriek. But when she tiptoed towards her phone (like she did whenever she was spooked), she was thrust into a much more horrifying ordeal, one sheâd been trying to avoid every time the chance came up. Her throat went dry. She clenched her fist.
âAnna, love, we wonât be able to make it home tonight.â
Theyâd leave them alone. The two sisters. Alone at night.
âWeâll stay with some friends. They live only a few blocks away from work.â
Heavy footfalls echoed down the stairs. A wretched feeling clawed at Annaâs stomach.Â
âWe already told your sister. Sheâll take care of you.â
Her sister. Elsa, her sister, who stood now on the bottom of the stairs, staring at Anna without interrupting this one-sided stream of words their mother poured into her ears. The shirt she wore was shoulderless.Â
Anna coughed.
âO-oh! Is it really that bad over there?â
âThe streets are flooded, love. Crap, I think itâs only getting worse. Weâll leave in the morning as soon as itâs safe.â
Safe.Â
Anna swallowed.
âIs that alright? Do you need us? We⊠we could try to drive there if youâre scared.â
âNo!â Anna blurted, startling Elsa. âWait, what? No-no-no-no, you guys stay there. Elsa and I will be fine, right, Els?â She shot her sister a quick look. Elsa nodded. âWeâll⊠weâll have a girlâs night. Paint each otherâs nails and stuff. Easy-peasy!â
Elsa nodded again.Â
âEasy-peasyâ. Who ever said that? Why would Anna say that? It wasnât easy-peasy at all.
Anna wasnât an easily scared person. Sure, she used to snuggle with her sister during the scary parts of Sharkboy and Lavagirl, but that was in the past. She was a very responsible 18-years-old grown-up now. Planning a trip for her gap year once school was over and all. She wasnât scared of spending a night without her parents, and she wasnât scared of some rain. She wasnât even scared of Elsaâs terrible cooking.
Something else that kept her on edge.
There was this boy at school. He was in her class. A senior, like her. He was funny. Cute, even. They liked to hang out during lunchtime and free periods. He was mostly nice to her, but there was this thing heâd said that day, just as a light rain began to fall. Just a tiny thing that stayed with her after school was over.Â
Her tongue was stuck to the roof of her mouth.
âAre you trying to stab your meal?â Elsa asked. Anna realized she was holding her knife above the poor tortured pasta. She must have been punishing it without noticing.
âSorry,â she murmured, then placed the knife down. âIâm just⊠justâŠâ
She looked up, and her heart sank a little. Her sisterâs eyes were downcast, her expression melancholic and somber. She avoided her sisterâs gaze.
Annaâs mouth shut.
Sheâd been getting too caught up in her inner ramblings.Â
âAre you alright? You look a bit down.â
Elsa smiled sadly and shook her head.Â
âItâs nothing.â
Anna squinted, studying Elsaâs expression. Her lopsided smile, her delicate hands on the table, her avoidant gaze.
âI know whatâs wrong. Youâre thinking about Honeymaren again.â
Elsa exhaled through her nose. It was that nose-exhale laugh that was barely a laugh, but Anna always counted it as one to add to her mental list of times she made Elsa laugh.
âIs it that obvious?â
âI just know that face. Your secret is safe with me,â Anna promised, with a smile. âNow, spill it. Whatâs on your mind?â
Elsa shrugged.
âI⊠donât know. I feel like I wasnât honest with her. About⊠how I felt.â
Anna frowned, but didnât interrupt.
Elsa breathed deeply. She still avoided Annaâs gaze.
âIt wasnât fair for her. That is all.â
âDonât you think your sister should know?â
The boyâs voice echoed between her ears. Anna resisted the urge to sweep her head from side to side.
Now she was avoiding Elsaâs gaze, and she was sure she was blushing. It must be visible under the kitchenâs cold light. Her leg began bouncing, almost on its own. It did that when she had too much energy. Or when she was uneasy.Â
A bitter feeling settled in her stomach. She could escape from her thoughts for some time but not forever. Everything was a potential reminder.
âAnna.â
Annaâs head snapped up. Her mind went blank for a moment.Â
She found her sisterâs eyes locked with hers. They were kind. Gentle.
âThank you for asking,â Elsa said. Annaâs heart gave a leap, because those eyes were on her, and her sister was gazing at her and that was such an unbelievable honor, to be seen by this wonderful woman.Â
Her tongue stuck to the roof of her mouth again. She clenched her teeth. She gulped audibly. Her vocal cords seemed to be tied up.
In that moment, the need to tell her everything seized her. It was the need to be honest with Elsa and the need to get it out of her mind. She craved comfort and reassurance.
She had Elsaâs full attention, but no matter how much Anna wanted it, she held herself back.
Instead, she smiled and stood up.
âCome on. Iâll do the dishes.â
Because hereâs the thing: Anna was a loving, caring, protecting soul. She liked listening to boys at school complain about their many brothers. She liked hearing about her parentsâ work. She even liked hearing Elsa talk about her crushes, her fears, her college classes, or her ex-girlfriends. As she saw it, providing a safe space and a willing ear was a big part of loving others,
Another big part of loving others was knowing when to keep quiet.
There simply were issues you wouldnât discuss with some of your friends. Thatâs just a fact. You probably wouldnât gush about boys or girls with your grandma, and you wouldnât ask your friends in sophomore year for help setting up a bank account. Ever since Honeymaren, Anna had been careful not to burden Elsa too much. She didnât tell her about her falling-out with her best friend, Kristoff, or about her doubts and anxieties concerning college. Right now, Elsa needed peace and support.
Likewise, some matters belonged in the therapistâs office, and not in family dinners.Â
Anna wasnât easily scared. This wasnât fear. It was logic. It was making the smartest decision. Doing the right thing for the people you love.Â
Doing the dishes was soothing. Under the hard splash of the water, she could almost drown out the memory of the boyâs words (âYou do know youâre obvious, right? Does she know youâre this obsessed with her?â) and the rough rain hitting the roof. It was getting louder. Heavier. She wondered if power would go out. She wondered if her parents were alright half a city away.
âWe should call them before heading to bed,â Elsa commented. Annaâs twisted mind extrapolated some very wicked thoughts out of Elsaâs wording.
âY-yeah,â she agreed, and her mind couldnât come up with anything smarter to say, so she bit her lip and decided to leave it at that instead of clumsily rambling and risking saying something she didnât mean.Â
Elsa waited for her to finish washing. It was awkward. Of the two, Anna was the only one who knew how to maintain a conversation (under normal circumstances, but sharing space with Elsa hadnât felt like a normal circumstance in a very long time). So, Elsa, unable to come up with a thing to say, simply paced around the kitchen until Anna was done. She didnât know why. Anna wasnât providing much of a spectacle.Â
They headed to bed a few minutes later. A strong wind had joined the rain in their torment, and they both mockingly swirled around the house and scratched the walls and windows with their twig-claws and their cloud-shawls. If you looked out the window, you wouldnât see an inch of asphalt on the streets: they were completely hidden by a glistening layer of rainwater. If you opened the window, youâd hear the vertiginous slosh of water against water. When Anna was fourteen, she and her family had gone to see the Niagara Falls (Elsa had held her hand the entire time), and the sheer thunderous loudness could put this city rainfall to shame, but it was the closest comparison Anna could find. It was harsh. It was maddening. It was growing louder and Annaâs gut was twisted into a tighter and tighter knot.Â
She gulped and decided not to look out the window.
She shot Elsa a quick half-assed goodbye and locked herself in her room, and then she sighed.
Safe at last.
Her room was a mess, but it was her mess. The kind of mess you would describe as encrypted data if you knew how encrypted data worked. Whatever. The point was that only Anna, with the use of her unique knowledge of her roomâs jungle, could find lost phones, hairbands and socks among the piles of clothes and half-finished paper crafts scattered around the floor and on the carpet, which had been folded in half when Anna tripped over it, and sheâd never brought herself to fix it. The boy band posters and continental maps on her wall were all about to fall off and her poor Duolingo Owl plushie somehow ended up under her bed. She rescued him, sat cross-legged on her bed, and hugged him to her chest, seeking some warmth and comfort. It⊠it was growing quite cold. Sheâd need to find another blanket. Somewhere.
She sent her parents a quick goodnight text, read some Supernatural fanfiction on her phone for a few minutes, and gave another try to her Duolingo course after being harassed by the feral green bird a little. She tried everything to distract herself from this odd empty feeling in her stomach.
It wasnât that she was scared. Okay, sure: the loud whistling wind and the heavy rain did make her nervous, but that was ridiculous. She had no reason why. The one time her family had been stuck in a storm like this, theyâd been driving down the road, in the dark, in the rain. A light flashed before them (a driver with broken headlights), and her dad hit the brakes. The wheels slid across the water. He lost control for a moment, her mother yelped, the car accelerated out of control andâŠ
And then her father took control again. Heâd steered the wheel in just the right way and drove them home safely. Anna didnât even remember being scared back then. It had been like a rollercoaster for her, and she loved those.Â
Her sister didnât deal with it as nicely. She had an anxiety attack and refused to get in the car for the following week. Anna had decided to join her mutiny in solidarity, and they ended up walking to school together for some time. Anna wasnât sure how she did it, but her mere presence and support seemed to calm Elsaâs nerves, even if they were only eleven and fourteen at the time, and neither knew what to do in scary situations.
Funnily enough, Anna wouldnât say she knew any better at eighteen. Elsa was older, so hopefully she did. Hopefully, sheâd figured out the way.Â
Those were the main thoughts coursing through her mind when she heard her sister knock on her door.
âAnna? Are you awake?â
Anna⊠kind of froze. She gripped her plushie and faced the side of her room opposite to the door. Oh, what should she say? Was Elsa worried? Had she given her a reason to worry?
âNo, Iâm not!â Anna shouted back. Yes, alright. That would communicate she was awake if Elsa needed her, but she didnât want to get up, all tied up with a little bit of humor to quell whatever anxieties were tormenting her big sister this time.
Annaâs anxieties, however? They squeezed her heart like a hand. Squeeze and release. Squeeze and release. Like a stress ball. Pounding blood. Into her ears. It was harsh and maddening.
A pause.
âI just wanted to say⊠if you need anything, Iâll be in my room.â
Anna nodded, even though Elsa couldnât see her.
âThanks!âÂ
Her own voice sounded so loud. So hysteric. Was she hysteric? She felt hysteric. Too loud. She was vaguely aware of Elsaâs footsteps retreating.
Her heart sprang painfully. Sheâd worried her. She didnât mean to worry her, yet at the same time hearing her leave only filled her with deeper desperation. The wind howled outside. It shook the whole house. Rain seeped through every nook and cranny. Power would go out. Anna was sure of it. What if a cable post was knocked down by the wind? What if a tree did? There was one right next to Annaâs room. If the wind blew in just the right way it could crush her.Â
She curled deeper into her covers. Oh, how she wished Elsa had kicked down the door and entered Annaâs room unannounced. She wished Elsa had stayed with her.
There had been a time in which Anna felt very safe in her sisterâs arms, before she started to turn into something else. Back then, her hugs felt so warm and gentle and loving, like nothing could harm her as long as she stayed there. With time, her brain began to give them a different resignify them into something less wholesome. Something more⊠erotic. Anna couldnât remember the last time sheâd dared to embrace her sister.
When had that happened? Was it when Anna was in middle school and she began to admire her sister a bit more than usual for girls her age? Did she turn into what she was now when she realized what it meant? Was she born with it?
Anna was a brave girl, but the idea of being âborn with itâ was the most terrifying of all.
âYouâre so obvious, Anna.â
It was stronger than her.
A low rumble in the distance. Loud. Louder. Followed by a flashing light.
Her heart stopped. Lungs stopped. Throat dried. Wind screamed and Branches rattled. Her muscles burned with tension as she gripped her plushie to her chest.
âŠWell, Elsa wasnât coming for her. But she did offer an invitation. And⊠and she wouldnât have to do anything. Anna would just sit there. In her room. It wasnât odd or concerning for people to be anxious during storms. It was such a small and harmless weight to dump on Elsaâs shoulders, nothing at all like the words brewing at the bottom of Annaâs throat. Not a burden. Not something disturbing, scary, off-putting.
So she slid her legs off the bed, opened the door, and carefully tip-toed across the hallway, still holding the plushie, and then she knocked on Elsaâs door.
It took a moment.
âCome in.â
Anna sighed dramatically. She hesitated, but twisted the doorknob regardless and quietly slipped in.
Elsaâs room was nothing like hers. For starters, she had a huge periodic table on her wall. That should say enough about her place of dwelling. Still, cool science stuff aside, Anna could never help but notice the adorable baby pink bed covers on her bed, always so neatly laid, or her pristine wooden floors, the family photos hanging on the wall, on every spot free from scientific stuff and broadway posters. She had all of her hockey trophies arranged on a shelf, and a few embroidery supplies on her desk. On her bedside, there was a tiny door frame with a picture of her and Anna, on that Niagara Falls vacation. They looked so tiny and childish and innocent.Â
Elsa was already in bed, but she was sitting up and turning on the bedside lamp as soon as Anna entered. She wore a slightly-too-flattering white nightgown.Â
âAnna?âÂ
Her gentle raspy voice broke Anna out of her thoughts. She blinked.
âUh?â
âIs everything alright?â Elsa asked. Her loose hair was flawless. How could her hair be so flawless?
âY-you mean me? Yes! Yes, Iâm⊠totally good,â she stammered, then shifted on her feet, wrung her hands together and said: âI just⊠I-itâs pretty rainy outside, isnât it?â
Elsa opened her mouth to speak, but then another crash of thunder shook Annaâs eardrums, and next thing she knew, she was cowering under Elsaâs covers like a scared puppy. Head hidden and all.Â
Her sister chuckled and stroked Annaâs head through the blankets.
âAre you still totally good?â
ââŠMaybe?â Anna squeaked. âI-I think Iâll be more good here.â
She could almost feel Elsaâs grin as her hand drifted down to pet Annaâs back.
âYou know, I was wondering when weâd have a sleepover again,â she commented. âI worried you may think weâre too old for them.â
Annaâs head shot up from her blanket cocoon.
âWhat? Youâre never too old for sleepovers!â She declared, at the outrageous claim. That got a laugh out of Elsa, and it was so beautiful and graceful, knowing sheâd caused it made Annaâs heart soar.
âThen come here.â She laid down again, and Annaâs stomach flipped when she reached a hand across the bed and over her body. Eyes wide, brain dead, she could barely process what was going on until Elsa asked: âDo you want me to turn off the light?â
Oh. Oh, right. Yeah. The light.
Anna nodded. The whole goal was to fall asleep, after all. She, uh, sheâd be fine without the light.
The lights went out with a click.Â
Elsa settled in bed.Â
Anna exhaled.Â
Without any sound other than Elsaâs breathing, the swoosh of the leaves and the whistling of the wind felt louder. There were more trees on Elsaâs side. No shit they were louder. Their branches swatted and scratched the poor tortured window.
The thunder was getting closer.
It echoed louder every time. Closer every time. And it sounded more angry and violent than before. Annaâs heart found solace in Elsaâs closeness but it still wasnât enough.Â
Elsa seemed unaware of Annaâs growing restlessness. She needed a bit more.
âElsa?â She whispered. Her sister hummed in responseâ a question. Anna could hear herself say the words in her mind but they sounded so pathetic and obvious she couldnât bring herself to pronounce themâ sisters didnât say these thingsâ, so instead, she just scooched closer, still hugging the plushie close as a barrier between her and Elsa, and an excuse to not wrap her arms around her. She timidly tucked her head under her chin.
Shame hit her right awayâ she was taking advantage of her sisterâs ignorance. If she knew the truth, sheâd never let her so close. Your family was meant to be your safe place. A refuge where you werenât seen as a meal or an object of desire. Was this not the greatest form of betrayal? When you sought your family for safety and comfort, and they crossed the ultimate line by⊠byâŠ
Elsa sighed and wrapped her arms around Anna, pulling her close. One of her hands delicately tangled into her hair.
For a moment, there was silence. And warmth. An unbreakable sense of love and security. All Anna could hear was Elsaâs beating heart and her breathing. Then, a kiss on the top of her hair.
âItâs okay, Anna,â she murmured. Anna blinked. Then blinked again. She opened her mouth to speak but couldnât say a word. Elsa squeezed her tighter. âI got you,â
Annaâs eyes brimmed with tears. She held her breath and covered her mouth. It wasnât true. It wasnât right. Elsa didnât know and she couldnât know. It would hurt her so much, and all Anna wanted was to see her happy. And saying it out loud would mean it was true. That she could no longer hide from it. She had truly turned into something unredeemable.Â
She thought of that photo of them, when they were little.Â
When had that changed? When had she changed?
She shouldnât be so close to her. This had been a huge mistake.
She sniffled.
âIâm sorry.â
She barely heard herself over the sound of rushing blood in her ears.
Elsa stiffened.
âFor what?â
She sounded curious and worried at the same time, and Anna really should have shut her mouth, really shouldnât have said anything at all. She was a hypocrite. She knew bringing this up was a horrible thing to do.Â
âIs it because you came looking for me?â Elsa asked. Now Anna had to give her answers. Any kind of answer. She shouldnât. She shouldnât tell anything to anyone. This was her burden to carry and forcing someone else beneath it was cruel.Â
She nodded. Elsaâs hand kneaded her shoulder.
âYou donât have to be sorry for that.â
Anna shrugged her shoulders up to her ears. She was a hypocrite. A hypocrite. She remembered that time on a week-long school trip when, texting Elsa late into the night, sheâd asked her if he was okay. Was she okay? Realization of her feelings had hit right as she was leaving and it now plagued her every thought like a leech latched onto her heart. She couldnât tear them out. The trip was supposed to be fun but all she could do was roll her thoughts over in her head, disseminating them like frogs, desperately trying to find proof that she was still herself, that she wasnât changing, that she could have these feelings for someone else, that he could have a future. And then Elsa sent her a textâ âI miss youââ and Anna couldnât keep her hands to herself. She shouldnât have replied at all. But they talked and talked and talked until Elsa noticed something was off and asked about it and Anna wrote âIâm just scared because I feel something I shouldnât and I always thought I was good and clean and safe to be around but Iâm scared I may be sick and gross and I donât know what to do I think I may die if this is true and I donât want anyone to know and Iâm so sorry Iâm scaring you with this I shouldnât be telling you this at all and I feel like a hypocrite telling you all of thisâ.â
Sheâd deleted the whole wall of text.
âIâm just a bit sleepy.â
Then she tried to go to sleep.Â
It should have been enough, shouldnât it? Putting her thoughts into words helped her down the panic spike. Coming back home wasnât as torturous as sheâd feared. Seeing her sister wasnât paralyzing or incapacitating. They could still play Mario Kart and watch bad Netflix originals together and sometimes, she could convince herself sheâd been scared for nothing. The intensity dissipated. She felt safe again.
Then the panic came back.Â
Lightning flashed again and her whole body tensed up, as if struck herself. Elsaâs hand rubbed circles on her back.Â
âAnna,â she said. âAre you sure thatâs all?â
Annaâs breath hitched.Â
âI-IâŠâ
She couldnât.
Elsa wouldnât force her. She knew that. Anna only had to say she didnât want to talk about it, and sheâd drop it. She had the power here.Â
Yet her jaw was stuck open.
She heard thunder again. Sheâd come into Elsaâs bed in her own volition. She didnât feel scared of thunder in her arms.
She could drop it. She could let the panic spike pass, but it would always come back, until she left forever (hopefully), until Elsa was nothing but a painful distant memory, but that wouldnât make any of them any happier. A gaping wound left untreated.Â
No! No! She couldnât tell her the truth! She couldnât admit to being the kind of person who shows up in the news for others to morbidly gawk at, the kind of people who hurt their own flesh and blood, who hurt the people who trusted them the most. Her sister would try her damn hardest but sheâd never be able to look at her in the same way. She wasnât just ill. She was becoming part of the illness itself. It defined her whether she liked it or not.Â
Sheâd never tell anyone. But if she never told anyone, she feared the illness would never heal. That the panic would never go away for good. Oh, it would be so much easier if Elsa forced her to confess, if she had no choice at all. She wanted her to knock down her door, insist until Anna had nowhere to escape and then embrace her and promise sheâd love her forever, regardless of what Anna changed into.Â
But Elsa didnât insist after her original question. She waited silently for Anna to speak.
And someday, sheâd stop asking, because she knew Anna wouldnât reply.
One day, sheâd stop knocking on her door and wait for Anna to come looking for her instead.
One day, she may even believe Anna was alright, and withdraw her offer of support. Then what kind of terrifying things would Anna have to do to feel her arms around her again?
Was that what she wanted?
Yes.
No.
No.Â
One of her hands released the plushie and gripped Elsaâs nightgown.
âI need to tell you something,â she choked out.
Elsaâs hand on her back stopped.
âIâm here,â she reassured her, and Anna nearly sobbed.
She inhaled very deeply.
âI had a talk with this boy at school today, and Iâve been thinking about it all day.â She screwed her eyes shut. âI think thereâs something wrong with me. F-for some time. I feel things that arenât like me. Like⊠Like theyâre things someone else would feel. And what does that say about me!?â
âIâm⊠sorry, I donât think I understand,â Elsa said.
âRight,â Anna sniffled. âIâm sorry. I know this is coming out of nowhere andâŠâ
âNo, no, no!â Elsa quickly sat up and turned on the bedside lamp. âI want to hear you. What do you need?â
Annaâs heart swelled with love. How could she so easily capture her affections all over again?
She sat up with her. Their legs dangled down the bed. Elsa had some very pretty legs.
âIâŠâ her heart pounded so quickly. âI feel things that are⊠wrong. And I donât know how I could have these feelings! I really donât want them. I wantâŠâ She wanted to be good. At school, at home, with her friends, she wanted to be the funny one. The cute one. The kind one. This huge stain in her heart changed that. It made her feel like a liar. âI feel like Iâm not⊠me. Like this is so wrong I-Iâm gonna disappear.â
Elsa breathed, slowly.
âIt feels like a loss of identity,â she concluded.Â
Anna nodded. A complete loss of the self.Â
âExactly,â she exhaled. Then she gulped. Her heart punished her ribs and it hurt but it had been easier than she thought.
A huge weight was lifted off her shoulders.
Elsa frowned, and looked Anna in the eye.
âAnna⊠listen. Whatever it is that youâre feeling, youâre still you.â
Her gaze was piercing and hard and protective and Anna could feel her throat go dry.
âButâŠâ
âNo. I want you to listen.â Elsa grasped her hands, and only then seemed to notice the plushie Anna had brought along. She smiled at it. âDo you remember why I got you this?â
âBecause you were making fun of me?â
âOnly slightly. I saw it in a store and remembered how excited you were about learning korean for your boy bands.â
âTheir music is good! People are just mean.â
Elsa chuckled. Theyâd gone over it a million times already.
âI remember how you went over twelve different instruments in elementary school, until you discovered you preferred singing. I wish you would sing to me someday.â
Annaâs face burned.Â
âThat would be very embarrassing.â
âI think you would be lovely.â
She had to duck her head and avoid Elsaâs gaze this time.
âYou always liked arts and crafts, too. But you want to study social sciences in college. You always loved history, too. I still have that book about brave women of history somewhere. You had me read Joan DâArcâs story out loud before you could read on your own. That one was always your favorite. You also kept a spider as a pet below your bed for a month because you said spiders deserved love, too, and you have maps hanging on your room because you want to travel the world, and youâre still deciding where to go on your gap year.â Elsa brushed her cheek with the back of her knuckles. Her stomach twisted and leaped. It was vertiginous. âYouâre so much more than what you think you may feel, and I donât think youâve changed at all.â She tucked her hair behind her earâ âYouâre so beautiful, Annaâ,â and took a deep breath. âItâs why I fell in love with you.â
Anna blinked. Then frowned. Her mouth opened and closed. She looked at Elsa looking for a hint that she may be kidding but she looked so serious and shy and hopefulâ but she was into acting after all, wasnât she?
Anna coughed.Â
âThank you.â
Elsa gave her a confused look.
âFor what?â
âFor trying to make me feel betterâ
Her frown deepened.
âYou think Iâm lying to you?â
Crap.
âWait, what? That's⊠wait, thatâs not what I meant.â
âIâm trying to be honest with you!â
Anna shook her head.
âBut⊠butâŠâÂ
Elsa watched her, waiting. She was so elegant and regal and beautiful and human.Â
âBut youâre so perfect!â
Elsa averted her gaze.
âIâd doubt that,â she said. Her chest heaved. âIâm⊠Anna, Iâm telling you this because⊠hold on, Iâm understanding this correctly, right?â Fear crossed her eyes. âYou feel the same way?â
Annaâs brain whirred like a train out of rail.
âY-you meanâŠ?â
Elsa nodded.
She gulped. Her stomach sank with shame. She covered her face.
âI didnât want you to find out.â
âNo, no, IâmâŠâ Elsa vacillated. She was just as lost. âIâm glad you told me.â
âŠOkay, alright, alright. Anna needed to take a deep breath. And drink some water.
âIâm gonna get some water,â she said.
It took her like half an hour to find a bottle (one she wisely spent internally freaking out, because her sister felt the same way hersisterfeltthesamewayhersisterfeltthesameway), and when she returned, Elsa was right where she left her, sitting on her bed, staring at the periodic table on her wall and quietly reciting each element to calm herself down.
She had no business being so adorable.
ââŠSo, you feel the same way?â Elsa asked a few moments later, after they both exchanged the bottle a few times.
âYeah,â Anna replied. It felt thrilling and terrifying and liberating to say it out loud. âAnd youâre notâŠ?â
âIâm not lying to make you feel better,â Elsa promised, leaning in and smiling at her. âI-I truly canât believe it.â
Anna choked on her water, like a genius hersisterfeltthesamewayâ
âI canât believe it either.â
She nearly jumped out of her skin when Elsaâs hand fell on hers, and it took her a second to realize this was permissionâ an invitationâ her sister felt the same wayâ and she was allowed to squeeze back.Â
âW-what does this mean?â She asked. âI mean⊠what now?â
âIt doesnât mean we need to be in a relationship,â Elsa stated. The mere mention of a relationship nearly gave Anna a heart attack (the good kind). âWe should⊠We should think things through. Take our time.â She glanced at the curtains. âItâs late. We can talk in the morning.â
âY-yeah. Youâre right.â
Neither of them moved.Â
Then, Elsaâs thumb trailed over Annaâs cheekbone, shily brushed over her chin. Warmth spread across Annaâs stomach and heart, and under Elsaâs loving, approving gaze, for once she felt like herself.
Her sister felt the same way.
âCan I kiss you?â
It was an unexpected surge of courageâ she must be high on it. The words felt like dipping below the waves, like the vertigo of looking over the railing and watching the water fall.
Elsa smiled, shyly, nervously, and with a hooked finger guided Anna forward.
Sheâd never touched something so soft, so kind and gentle. Sheâd never felt so safe and loved.Â
âYouâre still you.â
Still me.
She tightened her grip on Elsaâs hand.Â
The kiss was chaste. They pulled away. Hearts racing. So quickly. So loudly. They couldnât even hear the rain.
Elsa beamed.
âCome on.â She tugged at her hand. âLetâs go to sleep.â
Perhaps it was raining outside. Anna couldnât hear it. She could only hear Elsaâs rapid happy heart against her ear. Her eyes misted over but for an entirely new reason. She squeezed her sisterâs waist.
âI love you, Elsa.â
She could almost hear Elsaâs heart picking up speed.
âI love you too.â

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today was the day. Today was the day you finally got to see your boyfriend. After weeks of him being busy with the new comeback, he requested a day off to spend time with you, your heart would swell with joy whenever you thought about it. He was the sweetest partner you ever had.
Checking your outfit one last time in the mirror, not like you really needed to since you werenât dressed fancy, yoga pants and a loose shirt, you grabbed your wallet, phone and keys and went out to meet Taehyung at the cinema like you agreed on.
You hurried to the cinema, feeling excitement and happiness from seeing him and spending time with him. You knew he was busy and you never pushed him to make time for you if he truly couldnât. Tae, however, did it anyway, heâd send you little good morning and goodnight texts, would video call you and even send you short videos of him singing.
Arriving at the date spot you immediately caught sight of him, he was dressed in sweats and a sweater, hands tucked in the pockets. âTaeTae!â You yelled as you ran into his arms, Taehyung picking you up and giving you a bear hug. âHello my little butterfly,â he kissed your nose making you giggle, âhow are you?â
âIâm very well, just happy to get to spend time with my boyfriend.â You tugged on his sweater, bringing him down to your height and giving him a sweet kiss on the lips. You hold hands as you walk inside to buy your tickets, telling each other about your days. You could see how his eyes light up and how his boxy smile appears on his face when he's telling you about his work and it always put a smile on your face.
Taehyung locked his arms around your waist, putting his chin on your shoulder he whispered, âWhat do you want to watch, little one?â Youâd always snort at the nickname, just because you were shorter than him, and some other members, that didnât mean you deserved a nickname like that. Even though you adored any and every nickname that man gave you. You leaned your head on his shoulder, burying your face in his neck and inhaling his intoxicating smell, âWhatever you want, I donât really care.â
Taehyung picked out a horror movie for the two of you, claiming itâll be good. You on the other hand didnât really saw how screaming girls and guys in a movie would be good, especially since the cinema has the tendencies of cranking the volume up. After getting the snacks and tickets you made your ways to the theater and you noticed Taeâs hand resting right on your ass, but said nothing, mostly since youâre used to the feeling of his hands on your body in such a way. Although you admit his hand being there did make you somewhat wet, you couldnât really help it, itâs been months since you last time did anything and you doing it on your own didnât really accomplish a lot, but made you needier for him.
You sat in your seats and got comfortable while waiting for the movie to start. Ten minutes of ads passed and finally the movie itself started. So far it wasnât really scary, mostly the storyline moving along with a few of jumpscares here and there. About twenty minutes in you felt your boyfriends hand on your thigh, slowly massaging it. He slowly moved onto your inner thigh, getting dangerously close to your pussy. You squirmed in your seat, trying to keep your focus on the movie. When Taeâs hand crossed over your clothed cunt, the touch made your pussy instinctively clamp up in an effort to have something in it, to have him in it.
He continued stroking you through your yoga pants as you felt yourself get more and more damp with every stroke. You leaned over to him and lowered your voice as much as you could, âWhat do you think youâre doing?â His eyes remained fixed on the big screen in front of you but his hands applied pressure on your cunt, making you involuntarily moan. Thankfully the moan was covered by the scream from the movie and everyone else in the room as well. âIâm watching the movie and having some fun while doing it.â
He moved his hand away and put it in your pants, letting out a chuckle at how wet heâs made you. Your panties were soaking wet, sticking to you uncomfortably way and yet you craved more. âYouâre so wet princess,â he kissed your cheek, âI neglected my babygirl, didnât I?â He pinched your clit making you jump with a squeak, your cheeks burning hot and body sweating. âDonât worry, Iâll take good care of you.â He said, pinching your throbbing clit again, a louder squeak leaving your throat and some people shushing you. Â
Taehyung moved your panties to the side, teasing your entrance with his long fingers, he knew how much you hated when he did this, teasing you instead of touching and pleasing you like you wanted. âYou know exactly how you can get my fingers in you baby.â
You whimpered, thrusting your hips to gain friction from his fingers unfortunately your boyfriend knew you too well and put his other hand on your hip to stop you from moving again until you give him what heâs wordlessly asking for.
âCome on baby.â He bit your ear, moving down to your neck to leave sloppy, wet kisses over it.
Swallowing hard you turn to your boyfriend, even though you canât really see his face you know heâs smirking, âPlease Tae, please, please fuck my needy pussy.â
âGood girl.â He said as he finally pushed a finger inside, your pussy clamping around it, sucking him in. âDo you feel that babe? Can you feel how needy your cunt is, how much itâs sucking me in? Fuck, it feels delicious.â
You stifle your moan by biting your lip, there is no commotion in the movie and your moaning would definitely attract the attention of other viewers. Youâre gripping your seat, pleasure taking over entire body as Taehyung pushes a second finger in to stretch you as much as he possibly can. His thumb picks up the wetness that is dripping out and finds your clit, pressing hard on it, moving the thumb from side to side. Youâre close. Youâre close and you can feel it, like a bubble you want to pop.
âMy princess is close isnât she?â His thrusting and playing with your clit slows down, âToo bad you donât get to cum yet.â Taehyung removed his hand from your pussy, wet spots all over fingers and palm. He locked his eyes with your own as he brought his fingers to his lips and licked them clean. âGo to the bathroom and wait for me there.â
You never hurried towards a place more in your life, when you got to the bathroom you were glad to see it was empty, only a few people come to the bathroom during movies since they are too focused on not missing the movie. You took your pants off so you could take the panties off, rolling them up in a little ball holding them in the palm of your hand you smile at the thought of your boyfriends reaction to finding you without panties.
Just as you were done putting your pants back on the door to the bathroom opened rapidly and, after surviving a mini heart attack, your TaeTae walked in, looking like the smug bastard he is. He picked you up by your thighs, pressed you against the wall and attacked your lips hungrily. âYou have no idea how much Iâve missed you.â He said, pulling away from your lips to kiss your neck. You were sure there would be marks tomorrow which only made you more excited.
âTae,â you moaned out, both in pleasure and to get his attention.
âYes my love?â Taehyung looked at you with so much love and adoration it made you smile at him, there was also an incredible amount of lust in his expression and you knew if you postpone this any longer heâd blow. "We should move this somewhere people can't walk in on us." He gestured to the bathroom stall with his eyes to which you nodded eagerly.
Moving quickly to the middle stall Taehyung locked the door to it, turning back to you only to attack your lips in a hungry make out session again. His hands roamed your body, lips kissing every spot of your neck they could and on, big hand moving your shirt from your shoulder, teeth teasing the shoulder ever so slightly. Suddenly he pulled away from you, âNo time for foreplay,â Taehyung breathlessly said.
Spinning you roughly so your back is facing him, he pushed at your back so you were bending down, pulling your pants down to your knees and gasping at the sight of your bare pussy and asshole presented so nicely for him. âWell, well, well what do we have here?â He ran a finger across your slit making you shudder in process. âWhere are your pretty panties, you dirty girl?â You opened your palm to him, showing your red panties, a small smirk forming on your lips. Taehyung took them from you noticing your teasing smirk.
âOh you wonât be smirking for long babygirl.â He brought his hand to your mouth. âOpen up.â You immediately opened your mouth, obeying him without hesitation as he stuffed your panties into your mouth.
"Are you ready for me baby?"
Nodding your head you prepared for his big cock. You canât describe the feeling of him inside you, it always left your mind a haze, left you wanting more of him. The stretch delightful with a touch of pain, âcause no matter how much you have sex with him your pussy is always nice and tight for him just like the first time. He knows heâs big and he uses any opportunity to remind you of it and tease you.
âYou like that big cock stretching that tiny, fuckable cunt, donât you slut?â He mercilessly pounded into you and all you could do was mewl at the feeling of skin slapping and the head of his cock hitting your spot just right. His hands were on your hips, holding you harshly in the spot you were, bending over the toilet, hands on the wall for support. "Ohh shit, do you want to speak baby?" You nodded your head rapidly, silently asking for his permission. Taehyung took the panties out of your mouth, throwing them on the floor.
âAh Tae p-please,â you stuttered out.
"Please what?"
He started going slower, Â knowing damn well that drove you insane, you needed to feel him, needed for him to fuck you senseless. "Please fu-ahck me faster!"
Taehyung's face was buried in your neck, the smirk appearing on his face, tongue sticking out to lick your sweat off it, "Only faster, princess?" His tone was teasing. He was teasing you even though he knew exactly how you liked it.
"Mmm and harder too, please sir." You craned your neck to look him in the eyes, mustering the most innocent look you could. He let out what could only be described as a growl, moving his head away from your neck.
"If that's what my whore wants." He said pulling his cock out then slamming back into you with more force. Fucking you harder and faster, just how you asked. The moans that came deep from your throat were spilling out of you without control.
The same feeling you had in the theater only moments ago was rushing back to you, your orgasm building and building, âAh, fuck Tae!â He laughed, knowing you were just seconds away from creaming all over his cock.
âMmm baby, your pussy is getting tighter, I almost canât move.â With a final, sharp thrust you were cumming, your orgasm washing over you, like waves of ecstasy. Your mouth was open but no sound came out, almost as if you were frozen in your place. Taehyung continued fucking you hard and fast, no doubt chasing after his own orgasm, which hit soon after.
His hot, white cum filling your walls. "Mmm, oh fuck you like that princess, don't you? You like how much my cum fills you up." Taehyung let out a groan, "Take it all. Such a good girl." His hand ran over your stomach, massaging it lovingly.
You two stayed there in your poses, breathing deeply. Taehyung's body resting on yours, his head on your shoulder, hair sticking to forehead. He swallowed before speaking, "Well, that was fun." You couldn't help but get a giggle out.
"Yeah, it really was. I missed you."
"I missed you as well." His hand grabbed your chin, turning your head towards him and giving you a sweet kiss on the lips. "Now let's go before someone catches us." After getting dressed you ran out of the bathroom, holding hands and giggling like kids.
Come to me
previous chapter. 1 - 2 - 2.5
PART 3 - next
Summary. After what happened in a relationship in the past, you found  it difficult to trust someone with the gentleman image. 'Gentleman' seems like merely a concept and it was probably impossible  for someone to be a genuine one. Now that you're stuck with the number one gentleman at campus for a  group project, how would you cope with the one and only Joshua Hong?
Genre. College!au, non-idol!au / friends to lover
Pairing. Joshua x y/n x a little bit of S.Coups, and a sprinkle of Wonwoo
a/n: text au/social media au parts coming soon!
The biggest wish you had during work group in Joshua's house was to leave as early as possible. You ignored your stomach growling since it was already dinner time. But the house owner insisted you to stay since he already prepared meal for two. Never had you been in such a dilemma when you were hungry, the smell of his cooking was quite appetizing, and at the same time you just wanted to go home. And at this random time, Johnny always popped up, now in a form of phone call which you picked up without bothering to walk away from Joshua's sight.
"Girly, did you forget I invited you to the party at Nakamoto's?" "Oh, shit, I totally forgot." You checked the clock. "Sorry, John, I lost track of time." "What exactly are you doing? Studying?" "Uh.." You stole a glance at Joshua, hoping that Johnnyâs voice on the phone was not that loud. "You definitely are." "Uh.. yeah.." A teenie tiny interruption from Joshua sneezing and a loud 'bless you' he said to himself were something you never knew you would be immediately clowned at by sincerely yours, John Suh. "Wait. Where are you? Did I just hear Joshâ" "No, you didn't." "Yes, I absolutely did. You're studying with the Hong dude!" "I'm not!" "Yes, you are. Babe, he's at your place? Wait, no, you wouldn't do that. You're at his place?" âWhy does this guy always get to guess anything right? Ugh why am I friends with him?â you screamed internally. "You still in his house right now?" "That's because we're not finished yet." "Well, good luck and happy studying, I guess?" "Just hang up, Suh." "Yeah, sure. Better not make Hong dude feel neglected." "Johnny, I swear to God, stop." "Have fun. Take a breather because it's weekend. And don't forget to use protection." "I will murder you one day." "Love you too."
What a funny lie. You and Joshua had completed the presentation and ended it with a thank you page since 20 minutes ago. Now he basically just kept talking about finding more references when you thought it was not mandatory. You just had to convince him that what you both had done was more than enough.
"Is it Johnny?"
"Yeah."
Joshua nodded his head, somewhat understandingly. "There's nothing much left, I guess?"
"Yeah." Now going home early really sounded great, but how do you tell that politely to the house owner? But, isn't it normal to go home once you finish everything? Like, saying 'hey it's past 7 PM, you and I definitely deserve a good nap so I'll get going now, see you tomorrow' sounds pretty casual, right?
"Do you want to hang out for a while?" he asked even before you finished your thoughts.
You shrugged in confusion.
"Look, we've been hanging out but all we do is studying and getting this project done. So why not trying to do something else, like normal friends would? I mean, you know my friends, and you're pretty close with them. Isn't it weird that I'm the only one who is like a stranger?" He tried to read your face, which was still looking puzzled. "That's if you think of me as your friend. Because, I do.. and I want to get to know you more.." He sounded unsure as his voice faded away.
"Oh, yeah.. yeah, yeah, of course," you blabbered without thinking. You were so going to be the weird one if you blurted out that you saw him only as a project partner. The future of having awkward relationship between him and the other guys seemed crystal clear if you rejected him befriending you.
He smiled, feeling relieved. "Do you like watching movies?"
"Yeah, sure." At this point you had no idea how many yeahs you have said.
"Do you want to pick a movie?"
"Anything would be fine."
"Okay. I hope you're fine with horror movies."
You smiled, wondering if you looked panic when he said horror movies. You were so bad at horror movies. Mingyu was one of your victims as he became your personal punching bag whenever the jumpscares were about to pop out. Johnny also hated you for screaming hysterically on every jumpscare scene. Now, should you fake something and just run away to go home, or ask him nicely to pick another movie?
Joshua started setting up a folded mattress, some pillows and a blanket on the floor. His act just distracted you from your escaping plan. You stared at him, question marks were running around in your head, internally rambling 'what's with the mattress and why not sit on the couch?'.
"Oh, this is what I usually do when watching movies, either alone or with the guys," he said, as if he could read your mind. "Come sit here. I promise it's super comfy."
You were practically hypnotized by his sweet voice. All thoughts of running away or asking him to change the movie just magically disappeared as you slowly adjusted your position on the mattress. Joshua naturally shifted to sit closer next to you. To share popcorn, in his defense.
You had been telling yourself to be brave once the opening started. But somehow you just kept shrinking while hugging a pillow throughout the first 10 minutes. Joshua noticed how tense you looked now that your head was on the level of his shoulder, even lower, and the back of your head resting against the folded foot rest of the sofa. You were almost completely lying down with your knees bent to partially cover your sight towards the TV screen.
He chuckled quietly. "Are you okay?"
"Oh, yeah. I am perfectly fine," you quickly answered.
"You sure?"
"Yeah. I'm comfortable." You hugged the pillow tighter, slightly burying half of your face against it. And finally that moment that you'd been expecting came. Yes, the jumpscares. Followed with one of the biggest reaction Joshua had ever seen, after Seokmin and Mingyu, which made him laugh although he had to be your next punching bag. You practically shoved yourself towards him, quite with force he would say, and ended up hiding behind his shoulder. At this point it didn't matter anymore that Joshua Hong was not more than a project partner and you wouldn't even talk to him outside the project activities. You just desperately needed something to hold on. And to hit while screaming.
Joshua's masculine yet sweet scent sometimes distracted you. The way he laughed at you also started to get in your head. But you can't really focus on that because horror movies always got the best of you. Even you unconsciously wouldn't let go of his arm. Your sanity was split as you cursed yourself for being weak.
"Hey, are you okay?" he asked, still chuckling. To your surprise, his hand reached yours and gripped your fingers, still resting on his other arm. You immediately pulled away once you got your yourself together, realizing how physically close you were.
"Yeah. I may not look like it but I do like horror movies." Okay. You didn't know why you just talked gibberish. But then your act showed otherwise because you just almost jumped before finally going back to your hiding spot: behind his broad shoulder. He giggled again.
You could feel Joshua adjusting his sitting position with you on his backside. His head was slightly leaning towards yours, effectively making your heart flutter due to the sudden escalation of physical interaction. Eventually he tilted, making contact to your head for a few seconds before he turned to look at you.
"Should I just turn it off or change..." He half whispered while his eyes were searching yours. His eyes moved quickly from your eyes, to your lips, then back to your eyes again. You were sharp to catch his movement when he started leaning in and slowly decreasing the distance between your face.
Your loud ringtone just saved the day so you could release yourself from the awkward scene with him. Scooting a bit away from Joshua, you loudly picked up the phone. "Oh, Mingyu sunbaenim. With Soonyoung and Wonwoo? Okay, sure.."
Joshua silently kept his eyes fixated on you. He rubbed the back of his neck while waiting for you to finish the call.
"Is that Mingyu?" He began speaking to break the silence when you were occupied to your phone after hanging up.
"Yeah." You pretended to look at the time on the clock and be surprised. "It's getting late. I think I should go home."
"Y/n, I'm sorry about earlier.. I wasn't think-"
"What about earlier?" you quickly interrupted. Talking about what just happened during the movie was the last thing you wanted to do. You simply didn't want everything to be even more awkward than it already was.
Joshua opened his mouth, and quickly shut it. "Nothing. It was nothing.." He tried not to look flustered. "I'll take you home?"
"No, no need to. I can catch the bus."
"Okay then. Anyway, it's fun today. Do you think.. we can do this again.. next time?"
"Yeah, sure." You faked an excited tone. "I'll tell Soonyoung and the others, I think they can manage to arrange it."
Joshua almost choked himself, slightly gasping in disbelief. "That... would be great."
Keep It Hidden
Summary:Â Virgil caught his least favorite illness of them all (if one could have such a thing)âthe stomach flu. The last thing he wants is for the others to find out. (Pre-Accepting Anxiety)
A/N: This is the sickfic that I wrote for an anon last week that got WAY out of hand and ended up as a five-page fic-- I hope you enjoy!!
Warnings: detailed depiction of vomiting, sickness, mentioned Unsympathetic Dark Sides, cursing
Word count: 1,878
---
Virgil had known this day would come eventually, but now that it was actually here, it sucked.
Getting sick was far from a rare occurrence for him. When Thomas got a little too nervous, or got jumpscared one too many times in a day, Virgilâs immune system would go to shit and heâd be left as some sort of feverish mess. Heâd had what felt like every type of illness under the sun over the yearsâcolds, flus, sinus infections, ear infections, chicken pox, and so, so many more.
His normal routine was to lay on the couch and watch cartoons until whatever bug he had this time passed. Heâd cover his head with blankets whenever Remus ran by, screaming about butts, and heâd hiss at Deceit until he got the message that he wanted to be alone. And with the other guy, heâdâŠ
Well. Virgil didnât want to think about what heâd had to do to get him away.
It wasnât a fun system, but it got him better way faster than if he stayed cooped up in his bedroom, for some reason. He liked to think it had something to do with the cartoons, or maybe just being away from the germs that got him sick in the first place.
And then the Dark Sides kicked him out, and he got stuck with the Light Sides that despised him, and heâd caught his least favorite illness of them all (if one could have such a thing)âthe stomach flu.
And it sucked.
For the last six hours, Virgil had been curled up on the bathroom floor, throwing up what felt like everything heâd ever eaten in the last three years until there was nothing but bile. Every gag and retch at this point felt like someone was trying for force a rock up his esophagus. Between cycles, he would lay down and press his throbbing head against the cool tiles below, but it never lasted long before being sideways took its toll on his stomach and he was retching over the toilet again.
The only thing he could be grateful for was that it had started in the early hours of the morning. The last thing he wanted was for the Lights to see him like this. But he knew his luck was running out, and he needed to get back to his room beforeâ
âAnxiety!â Bam, bam, bam! âHurry up in there! I need to make myself beautiful for the day!â
Virgil choked back a groan, pushing himself off the floor as he glared at the door. âItâs a bathroom, Princey, not a miracle store,â he snapped.
He heard Roman gasp. âHow dare you! I got a full ten hours of beauty sleep last night; I just need to touch myself up!â
His eyes fluttered shut at the mention of sleep, but he did his best to stay awake enough to make his voice sound normal. âHave you tried 24?â
Another noise of offense sailed through the door, followed by footsteps storming away. As soon as Virgil heard them going down the stairs, he moved as quickly as he could handle to get up and clean the bathroom. He then rushed down the hall to get to his bedroom, shutting the door just as Patton was coming up.
Legs trembling, Virgil slid down the door and breathed as evenly as he could.
Knock, knock. âAnxiety?â
This time, he didnât hold his groan. âWhat?â
âBreakfast is almost ready!â Patton said. âI made some eggs, and Loganâs making his special waffles! You do not want to miss out on this!â
Just the thought of food made him wish heâd never left the bathroom. He squeezed his stomach. âIâm not hungry. Eat without me.â
There was a pause. âAre you sure? You shouldnât skip meals like this, kiddoâŠâ
âPositive.â Virgilâs stomach twisted again, and he swallowed thickly, panic welling up inside him âLeave me alone.â
âBut Anxietyââ
âGo away!â
A moment passed, and then Patton let out a breath. âOkay,â he softly said. âJust⊠Please come down for lunch, at least?â
âIâm not making any promises,â Virgil grunted. He carefully pushed himself to his feet, and as footsteps slowly disappeared down the hall, he slowly lowered himself back into bed.
Bundling himself up in as many blankets as he could, Virgil shut his eyes and forced himself to try to get some sleep.
---
He was awoken a few hours later by another knock on the door. âAnxiety?â
Virgil sat straight up, looking towards the source of the sound as his brain struggled to differentiate reality and his fever dream. âWhu⊠Huh?â
âPatton has asked me to notify you that lunch is ready,â Logan stated. âHe was very adamant that you attend, and I canât say I feel much different. Skipping meals, especially breakfast, is extremely unhealthy.â
Scrubbing at his eyes, Virgil let out a moan. âIâll be down in a minuteâŠ,â he muttered.
âExcellent. I will see you momentarily.â
âMm-hmâŠâ
Virgil hardly heard the footsteps walk away as he leaned forward, burying his face in his hands. It was so nice and warm here in bed⊠So easy to fall back asleepâŠ
---
The next time he woke up, it was to a sharp twist in his stomach.
His eyes shot open to see a dim room and an orange sky; he remembered with a start what heâd last been doing, and would have let out a curse had he not been breathing heavily, trying to force the nausea away as soon as he could. He balled up his fist and held it in front of his trembling mouth. He did not want to be sick again.
His body, however, seemed to have other plans.
Virgil shuffled out of bed and towards the door as fast as he could. He wrapped a loose arm around his stomach as soon as he was on his feet. Knowing the others were probably around, he did his best to be silent opening his door.
Another door opened down the hall. Virgil looked over in time to make eye contact with Roman as he stepped into the hall.
They glared.
âWell, it looks like someone was projecting this morning,â Roman sneered.
Virgil huffed out a shaky breath before stumbling towards the bathroom. âShut up, Princey,â he wheezed.
âOh, so you can dish it out, but you canât take it, huh?â
He shut the door and dropped to his knees in front of the toilet.
âReal mature, Sir Ector de Morbid!â
Virgil retched.
The first heave took out any bile remaining in his stomach from that morning, and then all he could do was dry heave until his body decided to stop. His abs ached like there was no tomorrow; his lungs burned as he struggled to get air between cycles. Snot and tears dribbled down his face and landed in the water below.
âUh⊠Patton?â Romanâs voice yelled from outside.
An agonizing minute or two later, the door burst open, and a gasp echoed between the tiled walls.
âOh, AnxietyâŠ!â
One hand rested between his shoulder blades while another slipped into his hair, each rubbing soothing circles. Virgil tried to shake them off, but with his head still in the toilet, found it very hard to do so.
(Not that he really wanted to, anywayâit was⊠strangely comforting.)
When his stomach finally gave him the chance to breathe, Virgil slumped against the seat and panted. His head spun like the tilt-a-whirl at the county fair, and his eyelids felt as heavy as the ride itself. It would be so easy to just⊠take a little napâŠ
The hands removed themselves from his body, and Virgil had to choke back a whine. They werenât gone for long, though; a second later, they rested on his shoulders and sat him up before carefully settling him back against the tub.
He cracked his eyes open to watch as Patton rested a hand on his forehead. Behind him, Logan was filling a paper cup with water at the sink. Roman hovered in the hall just outside the door.
âI didnâtâŠâ Virgil tried to swallow. âDiân mean to miss lunch,â he breathed.
âShh, itâs okay, Anxiety,â Patton whispered. âYouâre running a bit of a fever⊠Why didnât you tell us you werenât feeling well?â
Virgil whined. âDidnât wanna.â
Logan crouched and held out the water. âDrink this. You need to stay hydrated.â
Virgil tried to take it, but his hands were trembling so much that he nearly dropped it as soon as he had to support its weight; Logan and Patton were quick to catch it and help guide it to his lips, where he practically began to pour it down his throat.
âEasy, easyâŠâ
They pulled back after a moment, and Virgil drooped, leaning his head against the wall. He let out a moan and wrapped his arms around his stomach. Patton placed a hand on his shoulder and rubbed little circles with his thumb before looking at Logan.
âWhat do you think it is?â he asked.
Logan inspected Virgilâs face with a frown. âWell, it appears his symptoms include vomiting, nausea, stomach cramps, and a fever, so I suspect itâsââ
âStomach flu,â Virgil mumbled.
âViral gastroenteritis, yes.â
Roman leaned against the doorway. âWere you ill this morning?â
Virgil shut his eyes. âUh-huh.â
âIs that why you were taking so long in the bathroom?â
âUh-huh.â
Patton looked at him. âWhen did this start up, kiddo?â
He swallowed thickly, then let out a whimper when a cramp rolled through his stomach again. âWoke up at like⊠1:30âŠ?â
âOh, AnxietyâŠâ Patton pressed his hand to his cheek and frowned. âWhy donât we set you up on the couch for tonight? I know you donât like staying outside your room for too long, but I really want to keep an eye on you until youâre feeling better. We can watch whatever you want, if youâre up for it.â
Virgil opened his eyes to look at Patton; the father figure offered a gentle smile, despite his brow still being furrowed. His eyes flicked to Logan, who had a similar concerned gaze, and then to Roman, who refused to look his way. A pit settled in his stomach as he looked back to Patton.
âIs it gonna bother anyone if Iâm out thereâŠ?â he whispered.
Patton shook his head. âNo, honey. Itâs okay. Youâre allowed to be in the living room, sick or not. Okay?â
Tears threatened to form in Virgilâs eyes, but he forced them back. He sniffled and wiped at his nose.
ââŠCan we watch Billy and Mandy?â
-----
A few minutes later, Virgil lay on the couch, head in Pattonâs lap, washrag on his forehead, and a blanket wrapped tight around his shivering body. A garbage can sat just in front of him, and the Grimm Adventures of Billy and Mandy played on the TV. Logan and Roman sat on the other side of the couch.
Patton was running his fingers through Virgilâs sweaty hair. Virgil tried to keep watching the show, but his eyes kept fluttering shut. Eventually, Patton leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to his forehead.
âGo to sleep, Anxiety,â he whispered. âItâs okay. Youâre safe.â
He was too tired to say no.
Patton had learned, in his many years of emotion-filled life, that every person interacted with others uniquely. An obvious thing to learn, maybe, but in his younger years he felt like it really wasnât made clear enough.
When it finally hit Patton that other people didnât feel things in just the same way he did, it came with slow disbelief. Shocked was he to learn that not only were people so vastly different inside, but that he mightâve been one of the most different of all- even with the other sides. After all, each of them had seemed to understand all their differences like it was second nature, while Patton tried to come to terms with the information.
And come to terms with it he had, throughout Thomasâ late teens to early twenties. It was just Pattonâs nature to try and learn about his friends, and that didnât change when the task got harder. If anything, heâd become furiously determined to know how to care for all his family better than anyone, even if it more than once sent him spiralling in thought. Â
Logan, for example, was at his best when he was around other people; calmly talking, debating, doing work in the same space, anything that amounted to time spent together. So, even when Patton didnât know what he was going on about, he did his best to at least be someone Logan could talk at. Which mustâve have worked somehow, because Patton couldnât even count the times anymore heâd realized it had been hours after starting a conversation with his best friend, the both of them grinning and talking and enjoying each otherâs company. Color Logan understood!
Roman, an even easier case to crack, didnât really care what kind of attention he got- as long as it was positive. Which Patton was of course happy to provide! Though Roman became easily suspicious of any signs of friendship, Patton liked to think heâd weaseled his way into being a close companion, if the amount of times Roman dragged him off on adventures was any indication. Roman, too, was a check!Â
Virgil had been harder to figure out; not enough support and he got nervous, too much and heâd get overwhelmed. Fine balances did not come easily to Patton, so there had been more than a little trial and error. Heâd eventually landed on treating him not unlike a wild cat: to just exist in the same space and let Virgil do whatever he wanted in his own time (a method that had found resounding success!). Virgil, much as he wanted to seem mysterious, was also marked off the list of understanding.Â
Janus was deceptively easy to work out. He just needed someone to challenge him, all in good sport, to be friendly and frustrating at the same time. Call it environmental enrichment, but with people! Patton was more than happy to be one of those people, pushing and pulling in equal parts banter and genuine conversation. Janus, surprisingly, was clear as well.Â
Patton wondered if it was weird to think about it so much. He thought about all of them, and he wondered if they took time to decode him, too. Or maybe they just knew already- they saw the heart on his sleeve (or chest, as it were) and had him all figured out right then.
He liked to believe they did spend time thinking about it, though. It was nice to think he wasnât the only one that cared enough to take the time, and he knew that they cared about him already! Even if they didnât say it as much as he did, even if they showed it all differently, and even if sometimes it felt like they didnât understand himâŠÂ
They still cared. The hoodie around his shoulders said so. The card framed on his wall said so. The stray dog dander on his clothes said so. So long as he had that, who needed the luxury of understanding?
Patton shook his head, no, he wasnât worrying about all them right now. Right now, there was someone else to worry about.
Remus. Remus, who always chatted on and on, but sometimes went dead quiet for no reason at all; whose expression never seemed to match his words, who laughed when he was happy and when he was angry, who yelled when he was bored and when he was overwhelmed. Remus, who threw himself around a corner for a cheap jumpscare every five minutes, limbs broken and wrapped in ragged, punk-style clothes. Who would also drape himself all the way across Patton gently and calmly, wearing something baggy and impossibly soft (but still neon as ever), talking and talking and acting like it was all perfectly normal. Remus, who Patton wasnât even sure was officially his friend yet.
Patton wanted him to be. But there was still⊠something in the way. Some kind of frustrating, tense, unknowable barrier that left him on edge around the trait. If Remus could just tell him something, anything, or give him any hints at all about what Patton was supposed to make of him, then it wouldnât be so downright impossible. But he was inscrutable, an open book written in a language Patton didnât know.
Whenever Remus walked into the room, it was almost like nothing had even changed since his acceptance.Â
Speaking of-
Patton barely had time to dodge out of the way as Remus leapt onto the couch, landing in a sprawl and taking up as much space as possible. He looked out of breath, so heâd probably booked it down the hallway and stairs, too. Just as probable was him having no reason for doing so at all.Â
âHello,â Patton said.
Remus, from his laid down position, arched his neck up until he was peering upside-down at Morality. He had a reserved look in his eyes, but it was obvious he was fighting not to grin.Â
âGuess what I did.â
Patton paused. There were⊠a lot of ways that could go. Most of them weird.
âUm-â
Remus made a disturbingly accurate buzzer noise, exclaiming, âTook too long!â. He flipped over onto his stomach and propped himself up on his palms, his legs draped over the arm of the couch, and rocked back and forth excitedly. âI made you something!âÂ
The worry slipped out of Pattonâs mind, replaced by curiosity. He hummed, smiling, and asked:
âLike a gift?âÂ
Remus beamed.
âSomething like that!â
As Patton laughed by response, he ran his thumb compulsively over his bead bracelet (that he hadnât taken off even once since getting, of course).Â
âThatâs so sweet!â he chirped, âYou didnât have to do that.â
The Duke puffed out a breath, ruffling the white section of his hair. He rolled his eyes and shifted around, pushing up until he sat upright.Â
âYeah, I know. Havenât we done this dance before, Morey?â
âOkay, okay, I know,â Patton shrugged, his expression turning sheepish, âWhat is it, then?â
Remusâ grin widened in that almost impossibly way of his, and something about the glint of his teeth was distinctly threatening. It probably wasnât intentional, but Patton could never really tell, when his claws tapped impatiently against his leg and something mischievous wormed into his expression.
âWell, you have to close your eyes, first!â Remus clapped his hands together, and there that glint seemed to get brighter.
âOh, uh-â
âItâs not gonna be my dick, if thatâs what youâre worried about.â
Patton yelped, covering his face with his hands in embarrassment.Â
âWell I wasnât worried before you said that!â
Remus shrieked with laughter. Patton didnât move his hands from his cheeks, a flush of discomfort starting at his ears and pricking his skin.Â
âYouâre hilarious, but no- not this time, at least,â -Remus winked- âBut just close your eyes, okay?â
Patton took a couple deep breaths, glancing up to give Remus his best approximation of a stern glare. He then let his hands drop to his lap, palms up, and squeezed his eyes shut.Â
There was a soft whoosh, and something small was dropped into Pattonâs waiting hands. He ran the pad of his thumb over its surface, tracing something like fur. Soft, short fur, but when he pressed it was far too stiff to be a plush animal.Â
âRemus,â Patton felt along the object with both hands, jolting when he felt something scaly at the end, âWhat-â
âYou can look now!â
Patton did as told, staring down at his lap.Â
There laid a rat.Â
A dead one, to be precise. A dead, taxidermized rat, posed up on its hind legs like some goofy little cartoon character. Itâs eyes were impersonal glass orbs, but its skin was perfectly, horribly real.
Patton looked up, his eyes wide with disgust, to see unfiltered excitement shining on Remusâ face.Â
âI made it myself!â His pride echoed in the words, that grin stretching his lips looking all the more unnatural.
It was then that Pattonâs body caught up with his brain, and he realized what exactly he was holding. He dropped it- all but threw it, actually- kicked it and scrambled back and anything to just get away.Â
The gift fell to the floor with a dull thump, toppling under the coffee table and out of sight. Patton pressed his hand against his mouth, the other one tightly fisted in his lap. He felt sick- sick enough that his brain was leagues away from rationality. Because heâd really touched- held- that corpse, that thing that used to be a cute little critter, what was now a homemade trinket of horror.
He turned his attention back to Remus, and a million thoughts and feelings rushed him. Betrayal, horror, fear- and weirdest of all was surprise.
Remusâ smile twitched, and he tipped his head from side to side.
âYou dropped it,â he pointed out, âI thought you liked rats?â
The noise Patton made was something between a gasp and a cry.Â
âI like alive ones!â He exclaimed, pushing himself back until there was a good cushionâs distance between himself and Remus.Â
Remusâ smile dipped lower.Â
âWell, this way you donât have to take care of it! Itâs all of the cute with none of the trouble!â
âYou think this is cute?!âÂ
He couldnât believe this was happening, after everything- he hadnât gotten through to Remus even a little? It was all still a game for him to terrorize Patton? To shove dead things into his lap and laugh about it?
But Remus wasnât laughing, strangely. In fact, he was very still.Â
âYou donât like it?â
In hindsight, Patton would look back on what he said with remorse so strong it gave him headaches. He had scores of memories like that, of course, but this oneâs sting would never fade, not even long after theyâd moved on from it. But in that moment of fear, of revile, he could not think about anything else but the feeling of being tricked by his almost-friend laying heavy in his stomach.Â
âLike it? Is this- are you joking? Remus, you made me touch a dead animal! I thought we were starting to be friends, but- oh my God, what is wrong with you?!â
Patton was sure he stopped breathing right after he said that, his voice choking out. In the silence that followed, you couldâve heard a pin drop.Â
Remus stood up, and everything about the way he moved showed a woundedness that didnât suit him. He looked at Patton with an awful intensity, his ruby-red eyes practically glowing. There was nothing vulnerable about him when he was hurt, nothing at all like how Patton would respond to something like an argument. There was only anger and tension.
He didnât smile, but his voice stayed pitchy. Gleeful.Â
âEverything,â Remus hissed, âI thought youâd catch on before now, but.â
Remus spun on his heel, and the floor beneath him bubbled with oil and acid and plague as he sank into the ground and out of the living room. The carpet shriveled, sick-green, in his wake.
That was when the understanding hit him. A lot like a train.Â
âOh, no,â whispered Patton, âOh, no.â
Patton struggled to his feet, as if on autopilot. Was he going to go after Remus? No, no, that definitely wouldnât go over well. He was probably halfway into the Imagination by then, anyway, ready to take his anger out on his creations and not do any talking at all.Â
Patton tore his eyes away from the spot where Remus had sunk out, stumbling over to the coffee table instead. He crouched, reached his hand under it, and let his fingers touch the fur of his discarded present. He grabbed it, looked down at it. The wave of nausea when he saw the little rat was now less disgust, and much more regret.Â
He cradled the preserved creature in his hands with all the gentleness he could. There was a slip of thick, yellowish paper attached to it, that in all the upset had gone completely unnoticed. It was folded in half, tied with twine to the ratâs neck.Â
Patton looked into the ratâs shiny, empty eyes for far too long, watching his reflection be distorted by the spheres. He took a shuddering breath, then, and thumbed the edge of the paper, felt its grain, and flipped it open.Â
âThis is Jenner. You can have him, because even if youâre a priss, if you can handle me you can handle having cool shit like this. Plus, youâre weirdly nice to me, so I guess I donât mind being nicely weird to you.
-R (the funnier one <3)â
Patton read the note once. Twice. Three, four, maybe six times the words ran over each other in his head.
The paper slipped from his fingers. He held his rat in both hands and stared down its coffee-brown snout. Patton couldnât help bringing the figurine to his chest and hugging it tightly, like it was the thing heâd hurt so badly, serving as surrogate. Its sharp fingers and tail poked through his shirt like needles, but he ignored it, holding the irrational hope that the inanimate object could forgive him somehow.Â
Jenner was creepy, that was probably intentional; his proportions and pose were so uncanny it couldnât have been an accident. And it was so, so very Remus of a thing that Patton couldnât stand to hate it. His shift in view was so sudden, and in some sad way he realized that the conflict had been the final piece heâd needed. What let that understanding crash into Pattonâs mind, painting the picture of somebody layered.
The picture of Remus, who he was, had finally clicked into place- and at the exact worst time for it to do so.
Patton had fucked up. Massively.Â
He didnât react how he thought he would when he realized it. He didnât grow weary and exhausted, desperate to apologize and then collapse into unthinking sleep for days. Gone was the emptiness of making promises that he hoped he could hold true on, just wanting to have gotten it right the first time. No, Patton felt something burning under his skin, something itching him to take action because heâd learned from a mistake. He knew exactly what heâd done, and he was ready to do better right damn now.Â
Patton breathed in deep and exhaled sharp, because firstâŠÂ
He sunk out to his room, Jenner tucked into the crook of his elbow. He rose up at his bedside and shoved a handful of knickknacks off the nightstand. With enough space cleared, Patton set his rat down on the table and stood it up on his alarm clock, facing the bed. And then, as just a final touch, he smoothed back the fur of its head and gave it a peck on the forehead.
Now, he had some planning to do.Â
Meeting and Dating Sticks
(My gif)(requested by anonymous)
- As a kid, you spent ever summer visiting your grandma and grandpas farm. It was the highlight of your year but there was something there that you wished you could avoid... Sticks.
- Ever since you were little the farmhands son would harass you, always trying to scare you, tease you, push you around. He infuriated you growing up and was the one thing you couldnât stand about visiting your grandparents.
- He was also one of the first things that came to mind when your parents asked if youâd be willing to stay with them for a while as they packed up your old house. Youâd be moving to the countryside not too far away from the farm as soon as they sold it.
- You figured that Sticks had to have grown up by then, you hadnât seen him for over a year and who were you to turn down staying with your grandparents. You were... partly right.
- Stanley and Sticks picked you up from the bus station allowing you to get your first good look at the country boy âall grown upâ. Heâd gotten handsome was your first thought but the sentiment was lost the instant he opened his mouth.
âSo the city slicker returns.â
- Immediately, you knew this prolonged visit wasnt going to be as peaceful as you thought it would. During your car ride, Sticks was relatively calm but after you got to the farm and were done settling in...the games began.
- Throughout the week, you were met with pranks, teasing, and all different annoyances. It seemed like Sticks genuinely just enjoyed seeing you get all worked up, and boy did you hate him for it. The thing you wanted most in the world was to wipe that smile off his face. But then things changed, well, not completely.
- It was a normal day, youâd been wandering around the farm trying to find something to do when you heard something in the barn. You figured something had fell over so you went inside to pick it up and maybe hang out in the straw for a while. When you went inside there was nothing seemingly out of place so you just went about hopping on the straw and exploring the bales.
- That was when Sticks popped out, scaring you half to death and laughing loudly as you shrieked. You yelled at him angrily, pushing him down while also managing to take yourself with him as you lost your footing. You ended up halfway on top of him and half poked by the straw.
- His laughter calmed as you realized his hands were on your sides, catching you before you crashed onto him. He didnât seem all too fazed, aggravatingly content with your current situation. You quickly stumbled your way up and out of the barn, your cheeks burning hot as you made your escape.
- It was with abject horror that you realized you were falling for him. Slowly but surely you were noticing the redeemable qualities about him and disgusting yourself with those very same thoughts. Although you had to admit, heâd dialed down his pranks after the barn incident. You werenât sure what it meant but you hoped it was good.
- Every now and again youâd catch his eyes on you, it felt as though he knew your secret and it bothered you to no end but you couldnât risk confronting him. You couldnât let him have a chance at embarrassing you even further. So you let him watch you and minded your business, keeping your distance as you tried to forget what your mind was pushing you to think about.
- It was a week or so later, you were walking by the cornfield when all of a sudden you were pulled in through the stalks. You shrieked but immediately clamped your mouth shut as you saw who it was. Guess who. He grinned even as you slapped his chest.
âWhat was that for!â You yelped, adjusting yourself as your heart attempted to slow itself down.
âI wanted to show you something.â He told you.
âAnd scare me half to death.â You glared
âOh, donât be a baby,â he scoffed amusedly. âClose your eyes.â
âThen how will I see what you want to show me.â You rebutted.
âJust close them, alright?â He said and you could have sworn he was nervous.
- So you closed them and waited. You were about to open them again to ask what he was trying to pull when something warm pressed against your lips. Your eyes flashed open as he quickly pulled away, watching you warily as he awaited your response. You werenât sure what to say so you said nothing and began to walk down the trail between the corn.
- He called after you, hightailing it to catch up. Once he was at your side he apologized for everything, even the kiss, awkwardly stuttering his way through a confession of his feelings as you continued to walk. He pleaded with you not to tell anyone, telling you again that he was âreal sorry for even tryingâ.
âDonât be,â you finally said, taking a glance at him before hesitantly kissing his cheek and disappearing through the corn. You didnât see it but the instant you were gone he jumped around, hidden behind the stalks with a massive grin on his face.
- Your first actual date was in the barn, he surprised you with a little set up in the loft. A soft blanket, food, music playing through a busted up radio; you had to admit, it was adorable. The two of you shared a real kiss and just like that the city slicker and the country boy were an item.
- You probably keep your relationship a secret from your parents and grandparents for a little while. You arenât sure how theyâll react so you figure youâll just see what happens between you two first, no sense making waves when you arenât gonna surf.
- Theres not a lot of pda in your relationship mostly because he doesnât want to get in trouble with your folks.
- He probably really likes cuddling but refuses to admit it because heâs a tough farm boy.
- Comparing accents and what you call things when youâre bored.
- Heâs a fan of metal bands so you spend a lot of your time listening to them yourself.
- Every now and again heâll ask you to help him cut his hair. Youâll sit on his bathroom sink and trim it while he rests his head in your lap.
- Sitting next to him for meals and secretly, purposefully brushing each otherâs hands when passing food. Once in a while heâll reach over and hold your hand under the table.
- Sticks kind of grew up differently than most kids. Where others were allowed to just be kids, he had to be grown up and much more responsible. Because of that, youâll sometimes catch him acting like your father, telling you to do, or not to do, this or that.
- Heâs always willing to help but usually teases that you owe him whenever he does.
- Anytime you walk away his eyes follow you until youâre out of view. Sometimes itâs subtle glances, other times not so much.
- Sharing looks with each other when things get weird.
- Accepting his father and his odd sayings wholeheartedly.
- His dad loves you almost as much as he does, platonically of course.
- Old habits die hard, right? He still likes scaring you but definitely doesnât do it quite as much as he used to. He also likes telling you scary stories rather than trying to jumpscare you all the time.
- A part of him likes telling you ghost stories because they put you on edge and let him be your knight in shining armor, holding you close whenever you actually get scared.
- Youâve gotten used to his teasing by now so his incessant need to âoccasionallyâ make your blood boil doesnât affect you too much anymore.
- Teasingly stealing his gloves or hat when heâs not looking in retaliation.
- Resting in the straw together, you canât remember how many times the two of you have fallen asleep in the barn.
- Whenever youâre ready to leave he tenderly picks pieces of it out of your hair, giving you a little smile as you peck him on the lips in return.
- Helping him with his pranks if they seem harmless enough.
- Occasionally helping him with his work so that he doesnât kill himself trying to do everything by himself.
- Sometimes when you visit him while heâs working heâll just start explaining what heâs doing or how something works. You never knew you could learn so much from just deciding to see your boyfriend.
- Kissing in the corn fields.
- Sneaking into his house late at night.
- Always stands behind your chair whenever youâre sitting. He does it so much that it feels weird not having his presence behind you whenever youâre somewhere without him.
- He always stands up for you no matter who heâs defending you from.
- Heâs very protective, always keeping an eye on you or keeping you close. Whenever youâre encountering something he doesnât like heâll keep you behind him so that he can defend you if need be.
- Hes really good at comforting you whenever youâre worried, sad or scared; more so when he isnât the direct cause of it.
- Eating pie together.
- Watching the stars or clouds (depending on the time of day). You lay your head against his arm as the two of you lie on your backs in one of the many open fields around the farm.
- Going on long walks together.
- Your grandparents probably donât like the idea of you going off on your own so they made a rule that if you want to go somewhere in town you need to bring Sticks along completely unaware of the irony.
- Piggy back rides.
- Really likes getting kisses on the cheek. Thereâs just something so nice about it especially if you just do it out of nowhere.
- He probably still, jokingly, calls you âcity slickerâ but when heâs actually trying to use a pet name heâll just say hon, darlin, missy or some kind of name that means something in your relationship.
- He probably built you a tire swing at some point so the two of you visit that and play around on it when he isnât working.
- He likes listening to you read or talk while he does menial tasks. It makes his day a little less boring and letâs him appreciate how nice your voice is.
- He picks you little wild flowers he finds while working. Sometimes they end up a little wilted before he can give them to you but you appreciate the gesture.
- Itâs pretty easy to get him worked up so fights happen... I wouldnât say often but certainly not rarely. Heâll raise his voice but never quite yells at you, he just canât bring himself to do it no matter how mad he gets in the moment.
- It doesnât take long for the two of you to make up. Most of your fights are petty arguments just...louder. Youâll both apologize and hug and that will be the end of it.
- Sticks isnât a very jealous person but he has his moments. Whenever he does get jealous the main reason behind it is his own insecurities. He canât help but think it would be easier for you to date anyone but him. You wouldnât have to deal with evil scarecrows or strange dads or dumb farmboys that donât even work on their own farm.
- You always reassure him that you donât want anyone else but him. Heâs the only farmboy, the only boy at all, that you could ever love.
- He likes you, the real you, odd quirks and all. In fact, he finds the strange things about you kind of endearing in a way. It gives him more to learn about you and love.
- Even though he doesnât say it very often, he really does love you. He never realized someone could make him as happy as you do. You really changed his life for the better.
hi! first off, congrats on the new blog!! i read that misumi piece and i really enjoyed it hehe,, if it's alright, may i request some domestic fluff with kazunari? mayb looking over old photo albums of each other from when they were kids and laughing and telling stories about what happened in the photos? thank you very much and i hope u have a nice day :D
hi!!! this made me so happy đ„ș thank you so much, i hope to keep this blog running for a long time! also, i saw your reblog of my jealousy hcs and i wanted to say thank you for your sweet comments!!! i go back to it whenever i need motivation, you inspire me to keep writing ⥠thank you! i hope to continue making you proud as a writer :D <3
summary: kazunari had to stop living in the past and make new memories outside of his yearbooks with you
authorâs note: this is definitely a much happier piece than my others! this was refreshing to write and i treasure it dearly, itâs definitely much more on the humorous side! no angst today, folks!!! (ok just a little, but itâs barely noticeable!)
this is just a little look into a hoarder named kazunari and his sentimental, nostalgic personality ⥠i, myself, am a marie kondo supporter so i love decluttering! if you are a hoarder like kazunari, honestly go you! you keep those knick knacks that remind you of memories! do whatever makes you the happiest :D
word count: 2,151
music: make you mine â public, tongue tied â grouplove (this song is so Kazunari !!!)
nostalgia.
đ»đš miyoshi kazunari
it was that time of year again
kazunari hated spring cleaning with a passion. so what if his art supplies were all over the dorms? he knew where everything was! uh, mostly...
(if you ignore his daily panicked house searches which kept everyone up way too late if he couldnât locate a very specific paint shade for a big project he definitely procrastinated)
so, it took, so much bribery to get kazunari to even consider cleaning out his entire dorm room
(muku was a very GoodïżŒïżŒïżŒïżŒ Boy and already had his side of the room perfectly dusted and organized)
yes, you had to promise to pose as a model for one of his paintings one day (hopefully, not the type of class you were thinking) (kazunariâs suggestive wink didnât help)
the thing about kazunari was he was somewhat of a, putting it politely, hoarder
as an extremely sentimental person, it would take the whole mankai company to even force him to throw something away
(âno! it has a special meaning to me! i remember what happened when i got this~â kazunari would whine, holding the useless item between his hands with no intentions to ever look at it again)
so the boys employed you to be kazunariâs rational judgement when cleaning that day
(âplease actually make him do something.â sakyo looked like he was on the border of begging; kazunariâs abundance of random knick knacks and shopaholic addiction problem was becoming an issue that affected everyone)
rule #1 of cleaning kazunariâs storage room: donât open anything because kazunari will become very sentimental and nothing will get gone
so therefore, as a team, you two tackled the rather spotless room. the interior was minimal and modern, just like kazunari liked it with pops of color here and there
(he had one blank white wall and you realized it was the backdrop he used to film all his social media posts [dancing tik toks, fashion #ootds on instagram, daily vlogs on his growing youtube channel])
at first, you were confused where all his stuff went until you opened a closet against his terrible and unconvincing distractions
without time to react, you found yourself buried in tens of books you couldnât even fathom how it all fit
(âiâve played way too much tetris.â kazunari would admit later on when asked about his immaculate stacking)
âyouâve got to be kidding me!â you groaned, pushing your head above the surface of book covers that have either never been opened or were way too old to even be functionable
âiâm sorry~ please, forgive me!â kazunari pleaded, immediately pulling you out of his own mess and using all his cuteness to make you roll your eyes fondly at your best friend
you almost started ranting at him about the dangers of taking up too much closet space with useless items before you realized:
wait! stop! heâs trying to get you to forget about throwing these books out! you thought suddenly, crossing your arms as you stared at the pile, trying to figure out how to approach the situation
âyou cannot distract me. we are going through this mound and you will be getting rid of something today.â you ordered, seeing his shoulders drop in defeat as he nodded solemnly, but accepting his fate without any arguments. thank god for that
you two bent down and organized all the books into categories. popular photography instruction guides, creative advice columns, and all his past art textbooks kazunari couldnât sell were put into a seperate group because luckily, they were relevant to his art school
things like old newspapers with funny comics were recycled (you refused to let kazunari read them in fear of invoking some form of nostalgia) (also because he had the whackiest sense of humor ever and would die laughing)
it was going well, until you reached the thickest photo books of them all (you had almost forgotten what you and kazunariâs school mascot was)
but unsurprisingly, kazunari had every single yearbook from each year of his education all the way until his last year in high school piled high to his chest
even he looked somewhat shocked from his mass accumulation from his teen years
âah! iâm so old now~ look at all this! what else can i do except die?!â kazunari dramatically flopped onto his bed, tired of lifting so much weight. hey! his arms werenât meant for exercise, he was a painter!
lifting his head to see you were distracted from alphabetically sorting the first section lovingly dubbed, âart shitâ, kazunari mischeviously grinned as he leaned down to snatch a random yearbook
flipping to a random page, kazunari smiled as he realized it was the first time he ever met you back in elementary
kazunari sang your name as he sat upwards, having a shitâeating look on his face as he started swinging his legs back and forth
oh no, he was up to something no good, you knew it but humored him anyways
âyes, kazu?â you turned your line of sight to the most horrible picture possible: you with the ugliest haircut in the entire world with kazunariâs black hair taking up the entire photo as you two sheepishly smiled for the camera. it was not a proud moment
okay, maybe it wasnât that bad, you just couldnât help but shriek at the sight of your hair
âoh my god! you canât just jumpscare me like that!â you laughed despite yourself. you knew you had to be serious and focused on decluttering, but one look at your past made you remember all the good times before soâcalled âadulthoodâ
âlook at your hair!â you cackled, reaching up to playfully yank at his mullet as he yelped and lightly smacked your hand away. rubbing the back of his neck, kazunari huffed childishly and pouted like he was back in his youth
âcome on! this was the pinnacle moment i realized, i should not be a hair dresser.â kazunari commented, making you remember how you just let a random 8âyearâold boy waddle up to you with safety scissors and advertise his salon business like a professional
(yes, you bought into it right away. your teacher had a heart attack when she saw you with a majority of your hair on the floor and kazunari keeping small talk like an actual hair stylist)
thinking back after the haircut incident, you werenât allowed to chat with the funny class clown anymore as you were forced to wear a hat every day
(it was either that or go completely bald to fix the job kazunari did to your head)
it wasnât until you received a very creative and colorful apology letter with tons of sad faces drawn with waxy crayons that you snuck out to play with him on the swings in recess
âi canât believe we became friends because i wanted free hair cuts for the rest of my life.â you added, staring at the picture with a sense of nostalgia. you kinda got where kazunari was coming from, memories were fun to look at every once and a while
at least, eleven years worth of memories after being inseperable from that moment forward
(maybe, you shouldâve held onto it, you thought, not knowing that would be the first of many art pieces you would be gifted by him)
kazunari knew he won. excited, he dropped down to lay on his stomach as you leaned against the bed, watching as he thumbed through the pages with ease, leaning his head on yours comfortably
it was rare to find kazunari quiet, he mustâve been like this all the time when going through his stuff, you thought, at peace for once
lazily smiling, kazunari put his finger against your yearbook pictures as he reminisced on the past. something about everyone ever in your grade, how kazunari knew everyone and had a special memory with each person, no matter how big or small
ââand here, the teacher somehow caught a picïżŒ of us swinging wayyy too high for kids our age!â kazunari laughed, breaking your train of thought as you snickered at the absolute joy radiating from both your faces as you two competed to see who could reach the clouds
(kazu won. you fell off right after and had to get picked up from your parents after badly scraping your knee. it took another sorry letter and art of you two holding hands with a heart for your parents to forgive kazunari)
âletâs go back.â you interrupted him, making him sit up confused as you swung your keys out from your back pocket. it didnât take any convincing for kazunari to nod right away and took the elementary yearbook into his arm
you two only had to exchange a secret look before formulating a plan to sneak out, leaving music on from kazunariâs speakers to act like kazunari was still cleaning
you two giggled amongst yourselves before clambering into your car, speeding off and laughing loudly from your successful getaway. the manager was none the wiser!
during the short car ride, you and kazunari played your favorite mixtape of all time
(âyou kept this?!â kazunari yelled, giddily bouncing up and down from excitement when he discovered the mixtape stash)
he slipped the disc in as you two yelledïżŒ along to childhood favorites with the windows rolled down, letting the entire neighborhood know the best duo were back in town
(seriously, there were so many you stashed away in your glove department. all labeled in sharpie with compelling titles connected to the inside jokes only you two found funny)
arriving at the destination, you two exited the vehicle to see the play pen was abandoned as the teaching staff went home for the day
the sun was setting and it felt like the playground was in another rift of time as you approached it, hearing the weak movement of the swings going back and forth on their own. you sat down, holding onto the chains. you hadnât been back ever since you graduated. it hadnât changed at all
kazunari opened the elementary yearbook back to the original page, pulling out his tripod and phone he always had on hand in his backpack as he set it up right across the swing set
âwhat are you doing?â you inquired, tilting your head as he fumbled around pressing different buttons and filters too complex for you to remember
looking up, kazunari grinned as he set a timer for 10 seconds before sprinting back to the swing next to you
âswing contest right now! i bet i could swing higher than you ever could!â kazunari challenged childishly, quickly kicking his legs for the momentum. you narrowed your eyes, refusing to lose as you two laughed over the sound of his phone taking a burst of photos
you realized what he was doing. he was reâcreating your memories together
but you turned to look at him and your heart skipped a beat. you never remembered him looking this, different, in the purple lighting. for a flashing moment, you swore you saw the silhoutte of his blackâhaired, child self sit next to you before you blinked and saw him. kazunari was the same, just older now
you slowed down your swing by dragging your sneakers against the wood chipped ground. you grabbed both the swingsâ chains to hold them together
you didnât want to live in the past anymore. you wanted to grow up with him, too
âwhatââ kazunari started, matching your pace before being cut off by your lips against his, the phone going off for one last time
you pulled yourself in close enough just to smile. he smelled the exact same as he did when he discovered cologne for the first time. he never changed
you pulled away first even if he tried leaning forward for more, like he was waiting all these years just for that one moment. like he saw you in the same light, too
âi wanted to do that for years.â you confessed, watching as he took your hand carefully, like he was afraid you were going to leave. for once, he didnât know what to do, which face to show
âme too...â kazunari agreed, seemingly speechless before straightening his back, like he was about to run away. the hair on your neck stood up, what was he about to do?
âi promise i wonât cut your hair anymore, unless?â kazunari winked dramatically, mimicking the shape of scissors with his fingers as he tried snipping at your hair
he laughed as you shoved him with all your might, hopping off the swing to chase him throughout the school parking lot
now this was a memory kazunari would never throw away, no matter what
(no one thought the two of you escaped until kazunari posted the pics on his instagram, both of you getting a scolding from sakyo this time)
(busted!)
