While Catholicism and other religions passed on from European colonizers are not as directly influential in state politics thanks to the supposed Age of Reason, these religions and their cultural impact on how people think about family organization and gender roles still shape much of European and American politics, society, and law. In the beginning of European imperialism and events like Japan's moving out of isolationism. Even for PoCs like Black people. Then there is the accelerated commodifictation of PoC and queer culture (especially Black) AND political organizations to resist oppressive laws and structures through media representation, social media, and groundwork discussions that it's hard to effectively hide from activists publishing their thoughts or queer/PoC people so visibly changing infrastructure.

It was pretty much inevitable that people who want "the good old days" of rich Christian straight white cis-male privilege to push back.

Today I dropped off my car lease (it's ended) and went off with a friend to do some dress shopping. We needed a day together to just hang and be. What was a "try on pretty dresses" day turned into a "try on wedding dresses just because" day. I only tried on 3 and some very clearly needed to be taken in/adjusted in areas, but let me tell you I felt like a princess. I never really understood it before, but now I can understand the appeal. I felt like I was in that episode of "Friends" when the girls tried on and rented wedding dresses to just wear them. It was great, and now I have an idea of what I'd want if ever I tied the knot someday. If I never do, at least I got to try a wedding dress for a short time. I really needed a fun girly day, with a great girl friend. It's been a while since I've had a "treat yoself" day and sometimes those days consist of trying on wedding dresses. It is what it is. Do you think they’ll get married? We’re approaching five years. I just don’t get it. Why arent they married yet? Five years is a long time. If you don’t know after five years, you either don’t think marriage is important or you’re not sure. But everything else proves they’re happy so it’s confusing and a little sad. They may or they may not get married..as we all know, it doesn’t guarantee happiness (except for mine cause I want them to get married 😂).
