Ein unerwartet besinnliches Solo-Weihnachten

Als die Lichterketten die Straßen in ein warmes Glühen tauchen und der Duft von Tannennadeln und gebrannten Mandeln in der Luft liegt, fühle ich es jedes Jahr aufs Neue – das heranschleichende Gefühl der Einsamkeit. Als Single an Weihnachten zu sein, kann sich manchmal anfühlen, als würde man eine Party durch ein Fenster beobachten, zu der man nicht eingeladen wurde.

Dieses Jahr war anders. Vor ein paar Tagen, als die Weihnachtsfeiertage über uns hereinbrachen, fand ich mich allein wieder, ohne familiäre Verpflichtungen oder Partnerschaftsrituale. Anfangs war da diese flüchtige Panik, ein Zögern, denn wer möchte schon an einem der geselligsten Tage des Jahres allein sein?

Aber dann geschah etwas Unerwartetes. Ich fand Ruhe in der Stille. Anstatt mich in das Getümmel von Weihnachtsmärkten und Familienfeiern zu stürzen, zog ich es vor, meine eigenen Traditionen zu schaffen. Ich verbrachte den Heiligabend mit einem Buch, das schon lange auf meiner Leseliste stand, und einer Tasse heißer Schokolade. Die Kerzen brannten sanft, und ich wurde von Melodien klassischer Weihnachtslieder umhüllt, die ich selbst auswählte – nicht die üblichen, die man bis zum Überdruss im Radio hört.

Ich habe gelernt, dass das Alleinsein an Weihnachten nicht gleichbedeutend mit Einsamkeit sein muss. Ich habe mich selbst in einer Weise gefeiert, die ich mir nie hätte vorstellen können. Ich habe gekocht, was ich wollte, und habe mich in alte Filme vertieft, die mich nostalgisch werden ließen. Ich telefonierte mit Freunden, die weit weg sind, und spürte eine Verbindung, die nicht durch physische Nähe definiert ist.

In der Stille meines eigenen kleinen Weihnachtsfests fand ich eine Art Frieden. Die Erkenntnis, dass das Glück in meiner eigenen Gesellschaft genauso wertvoll ist wie in der anderer, war mein unerwartetes Geschenk an mich selbst.

Einige mögen sagen, dass ein Single-Weihnachten bedrückend sein kann, aber ich sage euch, es kann auch eine Zeit der Reflexion und des persönlichen Wachstums sein. Es ist eine Chance zu erkennen, dass man nicht Teil eines Paares sein muss, um die Schönheit dieser Jahreszeit zu empfinden oder um dankbar für das zu sein, was man hat.

Also ja, ich war Single an Weihnachten, und es war anders, aber es war auch schön. Vielleicht war es genau das, was ich in diesem Jahr brauchte – ein Fest der Selbstliebe und des inneren Friedens.

Mistel cared about few things. His family, Iris mainly, was one of his biggest priorities. His antiques were another. And his well-being came in a close third. Thus, it was only natural that he go to beauty salon from time to time. Get a facial, trim his hair, maybe even be so bold as to paint his nails a pale blue. This was simply self care, and self care was a necessity.

The bell on the door jingled as the blonde made his way inside and offered the beautician a polite smile.

He knew little about her, mostly because he didn’t care too much to listen when she spoke. Or really any woman. They were two-faced and catty, and Mistel wanted no part of that. But she did her job well. Perhaps today he would humor her and listen to whatever she had on her mind.

“Afternoon, Muffy. I’ve here for my appointment.”

“My body’s perfect,” Lanna said.

And it better be because of how much she works out and diets. Her manager says her body needs to be perfect, and hell, he’s right. A pop star must be gorgeous in every way.

“Though, don’t tell my manager, but I would like to not have to worry about my body so much,” Lanna said quietly.

One day she’d retire from her music career and pursue a career in marine biology. Until then she had to be picture perfect.

“Well, I’ve had it happen before... It wasn’t fun at all, and I had a hard time after that. It’s just weird having someone in your life that much and then they’re suddenly a stranger. Sometimes, it’s all over something stupid, too!” Rachel sighed and shrugged her shoulders. “Nothing fixes heartbreak like a pint of ice cream and a cozy bed.”

Leia celebrates her birthday like any other land person with a party and a cake. When she lived with her family as a mermaid, her mother would make her favorite meal and she would get presents of handmade jewelry mostly.

Pandora doesn’t think of her relationships with people as friendships or anything mutual. Rather, she refers to those she’s close to as minions. Despite this, she gets attached to people rather easily

Lillie chuckled softly to herself. It wasn’t a cheerful laugh, but rather one that almost sad.

“To be honest, everything I feel, I feel so strongly. I get scared easily, or really happy, or really sad. I try not to burden people with all that, but sometimes it ends up slipping out. I always feel bad when it does.”

When she and Muffy began messaging each other-- about two months after she followed her and another week, give or take, to sum up the courage-- if someone told her they would actually meet in person one day, Claire would've thought they were crazy. Either that, or teasing her, which would have been taken considerably less kindly.

But against all reason there she sat, in a chair at the Belrose Beauty Salon, being hovered over by the most beautiful girl she had ever seen in two dimensions, and was almost too much to look at in three.

She fidgeted, eyes anxiously trailing after the beautician as she prepped her work space. Goddess, was she blushing??? Her face felt like a furnace.

The last thing she wanted was Muffy thinking she was some kind of weirdo... even if she totally felt like one.

When thinking of her late grandfather, she likes to believe he’s in a better place, but the realist in her tells her that when you die, that’s it.

Despite being very strict about his diet and overall health, Ford didn’t think too highly of his body. This didn’t bother him much, as he saw it mostly as a vehicle to take him from one place to the next. On a scale of feeling good to feeling bad about it, Ford was largely neutral towards his body.

In terms of aesthetics, he was aware that he could not be considered conventionally attractive. This likewise did not bother him, as he never cared about that sort of thing. The only time it got to him was whenever people- mostly children- would call him scary-looking. If he could change one thing, it would be to change whatever feature gave people that sort of impression.
