Yeah, it's for sure because many of these fantasy lands are based on Europe, either deliberately or unconsciously so. Now, the main continent in Lois McMaster Bujold's World of the Five Gods series is also more or less a fantasy land based on Europe-- however, it's rotated 180 degrees, and it's in the southern hemisphere.

And it has weather to match -- north is a tropical archipelago, south is temperate to cool, and the southern islands (based on Iceland) are frozen. It's fun reading the novellas in the series (which involve a lot of traveling) and figuring out which countries correspond to which, even if you have to rotate the map in your head...

(Also it's a great book series for many other reasons than its worldbuilding... but its worldbuilding is still extremely well done, highly recommended.)

but how many people have noticed that a lot medieval fantasy maps are left-justified?

i mean i know its probably europe, but it's enough of a trope for tvtropes to have an article about it.

a lot of these are orientated with cold weather to the north and the sea to the west.

even the ones i found with ocean orientation not to the west, the cold weather is to the north.

i just thought it was interesting and wanted to share

edit: i think the only reason i noticed this is because very few maps look even vaguely like where i live in the s. hemisphere :p

She was beginning to come back to him.

Her skin was no longer that horrid pale, and she slowly regained the color under her eyes. 

Her quick wit came back on occasion, but she still held that same look in her eye. That dullness that used to be sparkle.

Joel noticed how jumpy she continued to be.

But even he knew the road to recovery wouldn't be easy.

The three walked through another abandoned town, their eyes sweeping over each building carefully.

Ellie's eyebrows furrowed, "Was this a FEDRA thing?"

Joel shook his head, "No. Army." He continued to look around as he spoke. "They put these places up all around, beginning of the outbreak. Emergency medical camps… obviously they didn't last. They had me in one just like this."

"With Sarah?"

Joel shook his head quickly, "No, she was gone already."

"Oh." Ellie nodded, "So, what was wrong with you?"

"It was for this." He pointed at his ear.

Ellie smiled slightly as she looked over to Y/N, who held just the smallest fragment of a smile. "From Y/N almost shooting you? Figured that would've happened later."

Y/N got a strange look on her face. Her voice was small, but it was there. She pulled on his sleeve, "But… Joel?"

He turned to her, bending down slightly to hear her better, "What, sweetheart?"

"I… I thought I shot your left side?"

He paused with a sigh. "Yeah. You're right."

She reached up to his left ear, running a hand over the small nick in his ear from her bullet.

Ellie scoffed, "Who shot you then?"

He stiffened, "it was me."

Y/N pulled her hand away and Ellie's mouth opened in slight shock.

Joel sat down on a nearby rock and sighed as Ellie sat next to him, "There's no story. Sarah died, and I couldn't see the point anymore. Simple as that."

Y/N approached the two, standing in front of Joel.

He continued, "And I wasn't scared either. I was ready." His voice dropped to a whisper, "I couldn't have been more ready."

The other two said nothing, giving him time to think of what to say. 

"When I…" he paused, "When I… went to pull the trigger, I flinched. Still don't know why."

He finally snapped out of his thoughts to the feeling of Y/N's fingers running through his hair sweetly.

"Anyway, the reason I'm telling you all this-"

Ellie interrupted, "-I know why you're telling me all this."

"Yes, I reckon you do."

The silence that fell between the three was in thought, slightly awkward, but relaxing none the less.

"So," Ellie chimed in, "Time heals all wounds, I guess."

Joel's voice faltered, "It wasn't time that did it."

The man and girl exchanged heartfelt glances to each other as they read the other's mind. 

"Well, I'm glad that didn't work out." Ellie finally nodded.

"Well… we should probably get going…"

"Yeah…"

The three began to walk again.

Joel smiled, "You know what I'm in the mood for?"

"What?" Ellie wondered.

"Shitty puns."

As Ellie began to serenade them with puns from her joke book, Joel slowly grabbed Y/N's hand to pull her next to him. He studied her face carefully, going back and forth between studying her and giving Ellie shit on the really stupid jokes.

But that ended as quickly as it had started when a grenade was thrown at their feet.

Joel shoved the girls to the ground.

The ringing in their ears was unbearable as he tried to make sense of his surroundings.

He looked up to see the figure of Ellie being dragged away. Her screams pulled him up further as he tried to reach for her.

He felt Y/N's hand on his arm, gripping his bicep with such force he thought it would bruise.

The butt of a gun hit the back of his head, the last thing he saw being Y/N's worried gaze.

Joel opened his eyes slowly as he tried to see what was around him.

"Welcome to the fireflies."

He pushed himself onto his back quickly, but the quick action made his head spin.

"Easy," Marlene chastised. "You got his pretty hard. Patrol didn't know who you were."

He took a deep breath before finally coming to his senses, "Where are they?"

"They're fine." She said, "Ellie's not hurt. Not even a scratch. She was mostly worried about you. Y/N is alright. Her hearing is a little messed up, but she's fine, too."

Joel sat up and rubbed his eyes, "Where are they?"

Marlene ignored his question again. "We lost half our crew crossing the country. I had five men whose only job was to protect me. I still almost got killed. So, how'd you do it?"

Joel shook his head, "It was them. Ellie… she fought like hell to get here."

Marlene scoffed, "she would've been dead on day one." When he said nothing, she continued, "You are the one person I never wanted to be in debt to. But I owe you. We all owe you-"

"-Just take me to her."

Marlene sighed, "I can't. She's being prepped for surgery."

Joel looked confused, "What surgery?"

Marlene's face turned to stone, "Our doctor, he thinks that the Cordyceps in Ellie has grown with her since birth."

"So, why is she in surgery?"

"I produces a kind of chemical messenger. It makes normal Cordyceps think that she's Cordyceps. It's why she's immune. He's gonna remove it from her, multiply the cells in a lab, produce those chemical messengers, and then we can give it to everyone. He thinks it could be a cure, Joel."

He sits in thought for a while before sitting up more, "Cordyceps grows inside the brain…"

Marlene nodded, "It does."

Joel's voice became low, "Find someone else."

"There is no one else. We didn't tell her, we didn't cause her any fear, there won't be any pain…"

Joel shook his head frantically, "no, no, no, no. You take me to her." He stood up quickly with a shout, "You take me to her RIGHT NOW!"

The guard next to Marlene sent a punch right into Joel's gut, making him tumble to the floor with a grunt.

He slowly calmed down as he stared at the floor. His voice became quiet and pleading, "Please, you don't understand."

Marlene nodded, "I do. I was there when she was born, Joel. I promised her mother that I would save her child. I promised. So, I do understand. I'm sorry. I have no other choice."

Joel looked up with a furious look in his eye as his murderous look returned, "I do."

Marlene had the hint of a smile at his foolishness, "Walk him out to the highway, leave him there with his pack. He tries anything," she says to the guard, "shoot him."

The guard pulls Joel up as he continues to glare at Marlene. The guard pushes his towards the doorway, but Joel stops inches from Marlene, "Where is Y/N?"

Marlene shrugs, "Doesn't matter. I'll get her back to her family. Her son. She'll trust me, Joel. Can't say the same for you."

Joel's jaw clenches as he's pushed through every hallway, memorizing his steps carefully.

The stairway was dimly lit and dirty. Joel's mind was on overdrive in thought. The occasional shoves from the guards was starting to piss him off, and he would get his revenge. 

He was determined to not let himself go down without a fight.

One guard pushes him, "The fuck you doing, stopping? I said keep walk—"

He was cut off by Joel turning around and elbowing him in the face, knocking the man to the ground. Joel grabbed his gun and shot the other guard easily.

He pointed his gun to the first guard, threatening him. "Where are they?"

The guard spit blood, "Fuck you."

"I don't have time for this." 

And shot the man with no remorse.

I've had enough, and I'm not leaving quietly.

It's quite funny. When you are a victim of larger, or multiple, accounts in the Supernatural fandom attacking you on Twitter/X, you're normally told to stay quiet and let it go. Because everything will blow over and everybody will forget about it.

So basically, stay silent, don't defend yourself.

Because that is really the cliff notes version of it. A larger account has dragged you down, you should just accept it and be happy that more people didn't believe what they said.

Sadly, when you're the victim, you can't just 'forget about it.' You spend every interaction wondering who you can trust anymore. Or if people really believe what was written about you, even though you know it isn't the truth. And you find yourself becoming more isolated from the fandom, even those you once considered friends.

Yeah, that's not going to sway with me anymore.

The reason I'm doing this on Tumblr and not twitter is, I have a lot to say, and this is the best medium to say it. I'm also doing this on a separate account, not my main one, because I don't want to ruin the positivity I am cultivating on my main account.

So here it goes.

Back in October, two accounts in the Supernatural fandom, Sherniibal and Electromignion, decided to attack me after they believed I had said something about them.

Funny thing is, I hadn't.

It was during Liverpool Comic Con where I was fortunate enough to get a Jenmish Photo Op because I happened to be in the Op room when they were being offered. I didn't realise that would end in having my profile exposed to 6000 people by Sherniibal and Electromignion.

During the time I saw there was a lot of frustration on twitter about the fact they were offering them on the day. I mentioned this was common and that I'd had a conversation with a woman in the line about the fact you could have rung up Liverpool Comic Con and upgraded your Misha op before the convention.

Apparently that was seen as an attack on Sherniibal.

I didn't really pay much mind to it. However the below tweets started to pop up. Again, I didn't really pay too much attention. But I have to say it's funny and wildly hypocritical for her to complain about indirect tweeting when that was exactly what she was doing at the time.

It's equally funny that she has since been complaining about drama in the fandom when, in the past, she was certainly always willing to perpetuate it or make things worse. I’ve checked through her account and she’s gotten rid of those moments.

Obviously realised she was starting to look problematic.

As we had been on a group chat together, she could have gotten in contact with me either on twitter, or discord, to ask if I was talking about her. But apparently, that was up to me to do?

I don't see why.

Outside of my tweet she was also getting anonymous NGL's. One of which was directly attacking her. Others which were telling her to talk to me. None of which I sent because, again, I didn't know what the hell was going on.

She didn't even bother trying

By the time I realised she was indirectly tweeting me I'd really had enough. I was tired due to a horrific train journey back home and I just said she was talking about me. I managed to get a few screenshots before I was blocked to defend myself.

But the result of me outing myself was my profile being exposed to all of hers, and Electromignion's followers.

The action of blocking her as she suggested would have yielded the same results, as it was clear by this stage she was out for blood. She blocked me almost immediately after my tweet though so she could out me to her followers.

I lost a few followers, and got snide little backstabbing comments (e.g. 'I say what I think' kind of thing). And when I tried to defend myself to say I didn't send the NGL's or attack the woman, I was told she had proof and I should just let it go.

But what proof? One tweet I made, and an NGL she received. An anonymous NGL no less that she could have had sent to her by one of her friends?

Hardly proof is it?

Anyway, I just gave up and stayed quiet in the fandom because I realised so many people believed it. I stopped interacting and nearly pulled all of my stories. I was eventually talked out of it.

Now getting to my point.

I never deserved what happened to me. No matter the slight that Sherniibal allegedly thought was there, all she had to do was block me. But instead, she wanted to drag me to 6000 people. The only reason I can think is jealousy because I got something she wanted.

Ever since then I have been stalked by a private account. Considering I had no issues with the fandom outside of this incident, I squarely put the blame on that on Sheniibal. Because, whilst she may not have been the perpetrator of the account, she gave somebody the confidence to continue the attacks on me.

I no longer felt safe in the fandom.

Funnily enough, that private account seems to have disappeared, and I’ve never figured out who it was. Maybe they finally realised it was sick to constantly harrass and stalk a woman who had just lost her father in an extremely traumatic manner. And was so distressed, she held a knife to her own wrists and threatened to kill herself.

However, this account still exists. An account that was set up to attack me. It's funny how it only seemed to get reported once it had turned it's anger onto another member of the fandom as well.

Who, interestingly, was also quick to drop and block me at the word of Sherniibal. Even though she didn't when Sherniibal was indirectly tweeting about her. I guess it must be because I'm a smaller account. Easier to drop me that way.

It made me laugh when Robina was talking about believing people talking about her behind her back were 'friends.' Yes Robina, I thought that about you to, but seems I wasn't a large enough account to be friends with you, or be allowed to defend myself against these allegations.

Hypocrisy at its finest.

I have had multiple people talk to me privately about Sheniibal's actions. Saying they have stopped following, or blocked her, due to her insistence on perpetuating drama. Or overreacting to every little thing in the fandom.

Why they don't call her out publicly? I guess they're scared they may suffer the same fate I did.

Why have I waited nearly a year to finally call her out? Because I’m no longer scared and refuse to be her victim any longer.

Anyway, this is my last post on twitter. I am now out.

I hope that people will read this and pay attention to this and do better. I'm not an innocent person, I've done my fair share of shitty behaviour in the fandom.

But this was one thing I didn't do.

1 - The final most recent tweets were seen by my main account that I have held long before I joined the SPN fandom. I didn’t have the strength to go back to what she did to me

2 - Electromignion has been named as he was involved and is Sherniibals housemate. He defended her at the time.

But if you want to announce your relationship to the world, Kenma may actually agree

but it will keep some convincing and some time for him to think him over.

if you do go public, Kenma will invite you into his livestream and play a co-op game with you.

Kenma nonchalantly says he has a partner that will be joining him in one of live streams in a few days

Many people don't believe him because of how he says it, but those same people still drop in.

The day you're going to be his livestream, Kodzuken gets one of the highest viewed streams he's ever had

but some people are slightly disappointed because they only hear your voice the entire time.

After you brought up that you wanted to go public, Kenma agreed, but after having a long chat with Kuroo about it, he proposed an idea to you that you don't show your face right away and instead only your voice just for awhile.

This is mainly for your safety as he doesn't know how his fans will react

so Kenma has you slowly reveal yourself to his fans and by the time you show your face, everyone is pretty comfortable with you and vice versa.

It's all chill. You're all one very big happy family.

Another reason why Kenma wanted you to only reveal your voice first is that if you decided that you did not want to fully disclose yourself to the world, you could easily back out.

as you can tell he put a lot of thought into this and it's because he loves you very much.

Here's a random headcannon in inside these headcannons: Kenma likes to hide some things in his livestreams like little easter eggs and hints for upcoming plans that his followers may not know about yet. He personally finds it more fun that way and enjoys thinking of how to incorporate those hidden things into his streams.

With that in mind, he may or may not eventually hint at what you look like in some of his livestreams using that method.

And Kenma does this with your permission, of course.

It was only after you did a face reveal that Kenma's followers realized that he had been hinting at your appearance for quite some time before your face reveal was even announced.

Kenma does not talk about you on his streams unless he knows you're okay with it.

or he just leaves them around your place for you to find since he still gets a little shy around you.

Kenma just tries to make sure that all of them are meaningful to you.

After Kenma ends a livestream, he often comes over to you and plop his head into your lap.

He may or may not put your hand in his hair because he wants you to run your fingers through it.

That depends on how he's feeling though.

You always know when Kenma has talked to Hinata on the phone because he always tell you "Shoyo says hi" afterwards.

'Shoyo says hi' even if he hasn't meet you yet. He's just really happy Kenma has a partner and is excited to get to know you.

In one part of the one shot, Kenma goes to Brazil to meet up with Hinata for a collaboration offered by Kuroo (who mentioned it in the very last volume, I believe)

and Kenma asks you to come with him.

He makes sure that you don't have to worry about any of the details and it's not at all stressful for you.

If you do come, he will somehow get you to play beach volleyball with him and Hinata during that livestream even if it's just for one game.

Kenma doesn't travel too much, so it's kinda like a little vacation for the two of you with a small bit of work involved for Kenma.

Kuroo comes over for dinner at least once a month, but occasionally he comes over earlier in the day and hangs out with Kenma.

One time you went to run an errand and you came back to find a bunch of members of Kenma's high school volleyball team just chilling in the living room.

Yaku was there, Lev was there, Kuroo obviously, Yamamoto was stealing snacks from the kitchen, Inuoka, and a few more.

They decided to drop in on Kenma one day.

I'm gonna start reblogging my own shit (when I remember).

Because this is completely true.

Likes and kudos are wonderful. Amazing. Stupendous!

But, hear me out.

I'm talking from my perspective, and solely about fanfiction here, because that's the only thing I put out, but this is going to apply to all fanworks.

I'm a fanfic writer. I do it because I enjoy it, because there are things I like to fix, ideas I like to explore, and because I can't get enough of my chosen fandoms.

That being said, it takes me a huge amount of time, energy, and regular prodding (thank you, @theonlydayiknow) to actually write, edit, and post anything, for a variety of reasons. It can take so much mental and emotional energy to do write, too, depending on what I'm writing. You're putting your blood, sweat, and (many) tears into creating something. And then you're firing it out into the void, for free, for everyone to see and enjoy.

My most popular work on AO3 currently has 8,775 hits, and 888 kudos. That means that roughly 10% of those hits ended in someone hitting the kudos button. There are 23 comments on it (actually double that, because I reply to every single comment eventually). What percentage is that? 0.2% That means that not even 1% of the hits ended up resulting in a comment.

And I'm not even a hugely popular writer! There are plenty of people in various fandoms who are enormously popular, and (as far as I've seen) their percentages are about the same, just from much higher numbers.

(Note: Yes, there'll be some people who don't finish your fics, but I feel like most people will, even if they don't enjoy it enough to like/kudos/comment/share/whatever. And yes, some hits will be re-reads, but still. The math ain't mathing.)

And y'know what? It's so disheartening to pour your heart and soul into something, and you can see that people are consuming it and (mostly, presumably) enjoying it, but only care enough to give one quick click or tap of the like/kudos button.

Again, not dragging people who 'only' leave a like/kudos, it's still amazing! I see you're there, I see you enjoyed it, I see you left a token of your appreciation. Have my eternal affection in return!

But some people don't even leave a like/kudos, even if they really enjoyed the fic.

And I also know and 100% respect that not everyone is comfortable leaving a comment. (Although even dropping a single emoji in the comments makes me froth at the mouth with joy, so that could be an option if you wanted to leave a comment on anyone's work with no pressure.) But if you personally don't feel comfortable commenting, that's totally fine!

In my opinion, sharing/reblogging a fic you liked (even if it's just dropping a link in Discord, or sending it to a friend, or something) is potentially one of the best things you can do to show your appreciation for that fic/author, and here's why.

Even if you 'only' like/kudos, or don't feel comfortable leaving a comment, someone who sees a share/reblog might feel comfortable leaving a comment/emoji, or dropping another like/kudos, or sharing it themselves, where it can reach more people who might like to do any of the above.

Personally, I reply to every single comment I get, because I'm just so fucking grateful someone enjoyed something I wrote enough to comment on it. (I should say I eventually reply to every single comment, sometimes I'm late as hell, but that doesn't mean I appreciate them any less.)

Thing is, I write for me. I write things I want to read. So I could easily write fanfic and keep it to myself. Hell, it'd be easier, because I wouldn't have to edit it, title it, tag it, etc. I don't need to post it. But I post it because I want people to be able to read it, if it's also what they want to read.

But, like OP said, if it seems like there are so few people that actually give a shit about the work you put in to the things you create, eventually you'll wonder if there's a point to creating things at all, let alone posting them. And that can kill a fandom so fucking quickly.

Imagine it. Think of your all-time favourite fanwork creators. Writers, artists, video editors, whatever. Now think of them all leaving their fandom(s), because they feel like hardly anyone cares about the work they do.

As I mentioned, I'm not big and popular. I don't expect I ever will be, and that's fine. I don't even expect to ever have people who count me as one of their favourite authors, and that's also fine.

But when someone likes my efforts enough to leave a comment, I feel fucking giddy. I have genuinely, literally, ended up face down on my bed, squealing and kicking my feet over comments some people have given me. (Again, thank you @theonlydayiknow. I'd ask you to marry me if the world wouldn't end at such an alliance.)

And the people that come back and leave comments telling me they're re-reading, or using the comments to leave extra kudos? They have my eternal love and devotion, I actually tear up when that happens!

And maybe writers/artists/editors whose work you like would feel the same about getting comments too. I don't know. Just something to think about.

Because that’s how you find shit on your dashboard. Through reblogs. Not likes. This isn’t twitter or tiktok or instagram. This is a website that’s run by the reblog system.

Reblogging helps content creators put their stuff out there. Why do you think so many people stopped writing fanfic and creating beautiful fanart and edits? It’s because they put in hours of work and don’t get nearly enough notes for their masterpieces. Yes we do this because we enjoy it but like...some validation won’t hurt. A boost of confidence here and there might be all someone needs to finish whatever thing they started and left.

“Just pretend to be my date”

He says so casually, trapping you between the wall and his arms, that smug look on his face whenever he is going to manipulate you.

“I said no, Taehyung”, you repeat again, not wanting to get into a series of drama linked to whatever mayhem he is suggesting for. Taehyung needs a date for party hosted by his friend, not that he cared about walking around by himself and oggling beautiful women who would already be there. His ex— a toxic piece of shit is likely to eat up his sanity if he doesn't take a distraction with him. And you are that— a distraction.

“Deal with her yourself. Fuck just leave me alone”, you push his chest, making only a little bit more space between your bodies.

“C’mon babe I'll take you to Gustav’s for dinner”

“Don't call me babe”

“Okay Y/n, I promise. I know how badly you wish to go there. Please?”. Kim Taehyung sure as hell confronts you with the objective of winning you over. Even if it takes bribing you, his puppy eyes plus a mix of intimidation.

Food had been your forte always, and Taehyung suggested he'd take you to the top notch restaurant in the city, something which will cost him a fortune and you wonder then maybe it wasn't that bad. It's just one night. One drama to put up with.

“Fine”, you huff, giving in and he is quick leaning forward for a hug and you squirm off of him.

“Theme is formal. I'll pick you up at 7?”

“Yeah okay”, you still sound very much disapproving that Taehyung makes a mental note to call and check up on your progress several hours before the party. Just in case you decide to ditch him.

“You don't have to call me every damn hour I'm almost ready”, you grit your teeth. Taehyung wasn't clearly kidding about it. You swear every time your phone rings on your vanity. At this point it was merely to piss you off.

They say character comes first, then time. You and Taehyung met in senior year of college, when he came as a transfer student and now a constant in your life when you both work in the same department of your accounting firm. You can say he is your best friend considering the amount of times he was there whenever you needed him, vice versa too. But does he makes you want to karate chop his neck? Also yes. But does he also makes you want to kiss him when he greets you in the morning at work? Painfully yes again.

It was a love-hate relationship. The former of course overpowering always. There were reasons why you denied his requests in the first place. Even though it was a show you put up, you can't help but feel flustered when he links your hands tonight, maybe even hold you close to prove his point. It would be all painful afterwards. And the dinner with him he promised? Fuck you should've said no.

You break of from your thought trance when the door bell chimes. Wrapping your fingers around your purse, you walk to the door and greet Taehyung, dressed in all handsomeness.

“Hello babe...”, he eyes you for a second, “Looking sexy as always”

“You're not too bad yourself”, you tease back, turning around to close the door, also an excuse to calm down the blood rushing to your face. He looks too damn good in a suit.

“Not too bad?”, he fakes the hurt in his sound, “Babe I know you would devour me if you could”.

“Yeah keep your fantasies to yourself. Let's go?”

You are probably full red on your face. Let's just hope that he thinks you overdid your blush on cheeks.

Taehyung seems too consumed in making things as naturally as possible. He opens the car door for you, gives you a flirty smile whenever he can and teasing is much worse than what he was usually capable of.

“Ease up baby, you seem so tense”, he says, while you were too distracted the way his beautiful hands turn the steering. It was completely nonchalant, but absolutely hot to your eyes. You peel your gaze immediately,

“You don't need to ‘baby’ me. We are not at the party yet”

“But we are dating baby”

“Fake dating, Taehyung”, you roll your eyes.

“So? Perhaps you need to resort to calling me sweet names hm? At least call me Tae”, he advices. Not that people are going to observe and calculate your each move. The only people you know are Jimin, a friend of Taehyung you have met a couple of times, and his ex which you equally despised.

There's a moment in past where you pulled a very unnecessary fight, overreacted a bit when Taehyung and his ex started dating. He couldn't make sense of what was happening to you. And you were still to explain. But that was more than an year ago and things have eventually settled to the back of your heads.

Both of you reach the large convention centre, people slurping on their champagne, political discussions and gossips in the air. Taehyung definitely did not fit in a place like this. This was anything but him. Maybe his aura will resemble more to a kindergarten tea party than this commotion.

You know he is here out of his comfort zone to not get his ego hurt. Sometimes he acted like a hormonal teenager than an adult, taking people's opinions to his heart and always self conscious of his aura.

That's why you sit like an insomniac and him still put together at the end of a work day. And that's something Taehyung adored in you.

He hates the place as soon as you enter as well. Maybe this was a mistake. But it's okay. Atleast he's here with you.

“Drinks?”, he speaks first and you shrug, helping yourself to a glass of golden liquid everyone is pouring down their throat.

“There she is”, you whisper out, faintly pointing towards your east with manicured nails towards a lady in her twenties, red lipsticks and expensive dress and trouble fluttering with her eye lashes.

“Fuck”, Taehyung curses, the said women, his ex—Ari, is already taking long strides with her high heels towards your direction. You see a sly grin on her face, which palpitate when she sees Taehyung is here with a date.

“Thought you won't make it”, she muses, she hasn't changed a bit and so is your opinion about her. Not even the slightest pity comes to you even though Taehyung is the one who dumped her over text.

“Well...here we are”. Taehyung stares down at you, and you both share a knowing smile. He is slightly taken aback when you lace your hands on his right arm, closing all gaps between your sides.

“This is Y/n right?...She's your date tonight?”

“Girlfriend”, he corrects, and places his other hand where yours rest on him, “Been dating for a week now”.

“Oh...”. Her painted lips part to say something and closes immediately. She was always competitive with Taehyung, a big reason why they didn't work out. For the matter of her self image, she adds, “I'm here with Mason, you know him right? My best friend?”.

Taehyung simply nods and quite believably Mason stands there in a distance, equally despising the party.

“We are dating as well”, she chirps, “since two weeks”.

It was quite pathetic how she wanted to win over everything and everyone on life. You simply nod until she is walking away and the peace settles in.

From the distance you watch other people, making inside jokes among yourselves. Ari seems to notice that and tries her best to push Mason's buttons to appear more couple-like.

“This turned out to be fun”, you comment genuinely and Taehyung seems to agree.

“Yeah...remember in college? We used to do this quite often at the library”

You giggle, reminiscing over the memories from years back. As work buddies, the bond hasn't drifted apart. But you grew more conserved and adult-ier while Taehyung still stayed the same.

“Oh my God look they are kissing!”, you whisper shout, eyeing to a deserted corner of the room. Ari was practically groping Mason by his collars for a kiss and he was clearly uncomfortable. You feel bad for the friend, how much he had to go through just because of someone he isn't even related to.

Taehyung giggles from above you, and when he looks down his eyes are oddly darker and carrying a different sort of energy, “This wasn't that bad”.

“Yeah”, your voice is wavering and you realise you've been clutching on to Taehyung’s arm all along.

“You want to go outside? It's suffocating here”

“Yes please”

The night is silent and calm. The place has a big ass garden covering all sides and you choose to stand near a bench, just in case your legs start to hurt.

“Did I tell you that you look absolutely beautiful?”

You blush, “You did tell me I look sexy earlier”.

“That too”. You didn't expect this to happen but he was closing the distance. Maybe he is unconscious about it. Maybe it's the alcohol. You don't know. His deft fingers finds the side of your face to tuck strands of your hair away as if to get a better look at your face.

“Baby you make me want to kiss you”. His voice is deeper, the deepest it had ever been according to you. It's like you needed years to process his words. But after a few seconds of no solid sign you nod profoundly.

“Then kiss me Tae”

His other hand is quick to find the small of your back and press you towards him. Ironic enough, he seemed both careful and messy into the kiss. Giving each of your lip attention. For a moment he freezes as to what has happened.

He kissed his best friend.

But are you a friend? Then why did Ari and him fight endless on your name, when Ari pointed out he has feelings for you, why did he beat around the bush?

On the other hand, you had grown impatient and lips are pressed again. And for the time being he throws those anxious thoughts to the back of his head.

For the comfort of straddling him, you push him backwards till he is seated on the bench and your legs on either side of his lap.

“I've wanted to do this for so long”, he moans when you kiss him again, feeling your tongue poking his lower lip.

“Can tell why you and Ari didn't work out”, you tease him, “I wanted this too”.

This was all the confession that it takes. The way he has you cradled around him and the passion in your kiss explains everything else. It was months of confusion and finally finding the light at the end of the tunnel.

A few moment into the sloppy kiss, you try to press your hips against his, which he adamantly stops.

“Patience babe”. He trails his hands along the exposed thighs, since your dress has ridden up a bit, “We are out”.

Squirming is the only answer you give him, pouting at the way he is continuing to tease you anyway, which doesn't really give gravity to what he just said. People were in their best decency (except for Ari of course) a few metres away and both of you are out in the garden with his hand creeping up to the prize between your thighs.

“Tae...”, you moan into his neck when his finger brush against the fabric of your panties.

“Lace? Interesting”

“Fuck. Quit it and do something”.

He listens to the way you take a sharp inhale as he nudges the material aside with his hand and traces the length of your sex.

He is painfully slow, enjoying the way you are slowly breaking apart. It was natural of you to test him back and fall your hands from his shoulders to his dented crotch.

“We don't want that”, he is quick to anticipate the attack and grip your wrist enough to hold it in place.

Before a complain or a swear slips from your lips, his middle finger is seated deep inside your core, making your thighs jump up from the contact.

Curling into your sweet spot, he pleasures you more when your clit is pressed and teased under his thumb.

“Tae- fuck!”. Another finger.

If that's the case though, no more formal parties and more peace of mind.

“You want to get home?”, he asks, a bit breathless.

Jimin knows Taehyung doesn't take work to home. So seeing your fucked out blissed faces and the rush in your steps, he is certain things have been well. So he buys whatever odd of a reason you provided and scooted out of the party for an amazing night.

Goodbye & Broppy

After the song was released, I felt the need of doing something I haven't done in a while for the Trolls fandom: an in-depth analysis.

The lyrics of the song were a real tearjerker; the separation, the longing, the sadness, the impression of giving up as the only option... And, considering it said Justin Timberlake was supposed to sing it, and the mentions of "My queen", "My love"; it totally sounds like a Broppy song.

Now, I know @georgebeard mentioned they'd talked to an animator who confirmed the scene was indeed deleted from the film. However, as a loyal and experienced member of the Miraculous fandom, I know better than to cross out the possibility of being misled in order to avoid spoilers (I'm looking at you guys, Chloé redemption, Félix , and Chat Blanc). So, there's that.

And even if the song did not make it in the end, we must not forget the first movie and its extra content.

If you purchased a DVD copy (like myself), or were obsessed enough to search for every possible Trolls-related video on YouTube (like myself), you must have surely found the deleted scenes from the film.

Poppy's dresses.

Poppy's storytelling.

"Bringing Back Happy."

And that's what I wanna talk about!

Bringing Back Happy was a, rather early (considering its storyboard stage), villain song that Chef was supposed to sing. So, even if Goodbye doesn't make it into Trolls World Tour, the chances of it appearing as extra content are pretty high, considering it was even mentioned before the release of the movie.

If that weren't enough for ya, there's more. Don't worry.

As I mentioned earlier, if you're familiar with the deleted scenes, you'll know 2/3 were in a very advanced stage of animation before being scrapped. Not to mention, the one major change we got no info about: turning Poppy's coronation party to the 20 year anniversary since they escaped the bergens. Again, a scene so advanced in its animation stage that even made it to the trailer!

Moreover, there's this detail in the very first trailer of Trolls World Tour that stuck with me: Branch's quote "This is a terrible idea that will blow up in your face!"

Which, if we compare it to his supportive attitude in the latest trailer ("I'm coming with you"), is completely different and even unexpected.

And that leads me to this: there are many reasons why a scene would be deleted; it gives a character a quality they didn't want, Chef didn't get to sing because it made her too funny, while Poppy didn't wear her dresses because it made her look spoiled; it becomes longer than they expected, another reason for the dresses and, I think, for the storytelling; or it changes the vibe of the movie greatly (if you guys knew the original script for How to train your dragon 2...).

On a side note, I remember a post from long ago that explained that one of the reasons its OP liked trolls so much was because, unlike the vast majority of films, Poppy and Branch never really had a fall out. They were always together.

What do I mean with this?

What if their fall out happens in this movie? What if Branch says that line out of frustration and Poppy and him, both devastated, are forced to go their separate ways?

That would be the perfect cue for a song as romantic and heartbreaking as Goodbye.

Not to mention, it would also explain how on Earth Poppy could be captured by Barb, alone. Because there's no way Branch wouldn't go down with her otherwise, and you know it.

Now that the song analysis and theorizing is out of the way, let's move on to the deeper part of the analysis: Broppy itself.

As someone who's been a hardcore Broppy shipper even before watching the movie, you can believe me when I say that it'll devastate me if they killed Broppy.

Even so, I also consider myself as someone both highly emotional and analytical, hence, why I create such analysis on the things I love. Trolls being no exception.

Something I want to talk about to make you all understand my point of view is the way Dreamworks works (as I see it). And for that, I'd like to compare Trolls, HTTYD, their tv shows, and their main ships, Broppy and Hiccstrid; respectively.

If there's something I've noticed about Dreamworks and Disney, that's that Disney movies have a much greater stand-alone value than Dreamworks'. That's why 95% of its films end with an extra-official couple or why their sequels are either shitty compared to the original (Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Mulan...) or a fucking masterpiece. I mean, take Frozen, for instance. The film made a major point on criticising Disney's "I get together with someone I barely know and we live happily ever after" trope. And yet, even if it was much subtler and less intense than usual, that's exactly what happened with Anna and Kristoff. Maybe they weren't married, but they got officially together. And as for Frozen II... I haven't seen it, but I've been told it's very, very different than the first one, and very, very good.

So, yeah. Stand-alone value.

But Dreamworks... Dreamworks manages to reach beautiful conclusions that, at the same time, let the plot perfectly open for more stories to be told.

Seriously, just watch How to Train your Dragon!

Every film had its ending, but it also made you wonder what was gonna happen next. It made you understand that the saga wasn't over, just a part of it. And I think that's what they're trying to achieve with Trolls.

I mean, sure. The plot of the sequel wasn't what we expected at all and made many of us think about the astounding amount of fanfics that delved in the possible existence of different kinds of trolls... But it left us all with one question in our minds, "what now?" And, at the same time, the film had reached a beautiful conclusion.

See what I mean?

I wholeheartedly believe this is something Dreamworks aim to achieve with its pairings. They don't want them to be rushed, they want to develop them. Sure, they want us to see there are ships, but they strive to form deep, strong relationships with much more meaning behind than just sharing an adventure together.

And that, that is something I can clearly see with Hiccstrid and Broppy.

If we take HTTYD, the hints on the romantic relationship between Hiccup and Astrid were even greater than Poppy and Branch's. Heck, they even kissed. And you know what was their official description for Riders of Berk to half of Race to the Edge? Not-so-platonic best friends.

But that's because they took the time to naturally develop and strengthen their bond!

Which is what I think is supposed to happen to Poppy and Branch.

Sure, they are close. Sure, they were on a life-changing adventure together. Sure, they are countless hints on their romantic feelings.

But they still spent 20 years being practically strangers.

They still need to learn how to be a team together. They still need to learn how the other works. They still need some basic ground.

If we keep on comparing the two films, we must not forget that HTTYD 2, despite having Hiccup and Astrid as betrothed, wasn't as heavy on their romance as the first and third movie were.

Because the focus of the film was Hiccup becoming a leader. Not becoming Astrid's husband.

And, considering the plot of Trolls World Tour, it's still very possible that it won't be as heavy on Broppy as it was the prequel. After all, TWT is more about diversity and harmony than happiness, which is what made the contrast between the optimistic princess and the cynical survivalist so important for Trolls.

But, please, fear not. This does not necessarily mean that Broppy is dead. It just means we might have to be careful about letting our hopes up and, more importantly, in case nothing is conclusive about these two in Trolls World Tour, that we just have to be a little more patient.

After all, a good written ship never disappoints.

@tacozebra051 - they sure are! And I'm well aware I'm partially responsible, so I'd like to take this opportunity to voice clearly why that is:

Whether it's true for the other people answering the poll or not, for most Sam fans this poll is unfortunately perfectly worded (I'm presuming unintentionally*) to inevitably become a proxy war about rape.

I am genuinely curious whether or not Dean and Cas fans are aware of the rape interpretation of the Gadreel arc and of how central that is as a problem--but also as an emotional hook--for most Sam fans. I would say it's probably approximately equally central and emotionally entangling as 'eldest daughter' issues are for Dean fans. Even for those of us who adore Dean despite (or in part sometimes even because of) this arc (which I am one), resolving how to treat this issue in canon is something we end up grappling with over and over.

I would actually very much love for Dean and Cas fans in the notes to let me know how much (if at all) aware they are that this is the central emotional hook for us Sam fans in arguments that touch in any way on the Gadreel arc. I notice that it's not brought up very often by people on either side of these arguments, and I'm wondering if this is because of politeness maybe, or wanting to discuss the other issues but not that one, or if y'all don't know this is going on for us, or something else? Answers are welcome in my ask box if @pollsnatural doesn't want them here, or obviously here if they don't mind, and I'm particularly inviting @tacozebra051 @gh-0-stcup and @scoobydoodean since y'all seem particularly vehement that the sam girls (gn) are inexplicably being Like That again (obviously I'd prefer if you're considerate, but I know it's emotional for you too, so I'm prepared to wade through some emotions).

Anyway, because these discussions are so fraught for us--and seem, from our perspective, rightly or wrongly, like the fraughtness is being actively ignored (again I'm not saying this is true; I'm saying that's how it feels. One of the best skills therapy teaches is to separate how things feel from how they actually are and not assume the two are the same)--we can get reactive and say things that in a calmer frame of mind maybe we wouldn't. You can see that reaction in the notes of this poll where multiple Sam fans were so in their feels about the way spn treats Sam around Gadreel that they assumed OP was doing it too, even though OP 100% wasn't.

Despite that though, I want to emphasize that *I* wasn't saying things in anger that I didn't mean or didn't understand. I was basing that analysis on job experience. Because I do absolutely believe the other metaphor spn offers for the Gadreel situation--medical consent--is also very much on point (way more on point than the rape metaphor tbh, had spn not beat us so many times over the head with the rape metaphor). And in a medical consent situation, touching a patient without their valid, fully informed consent is assault, not letting them leave treatment is false imprisonment, and moving them against their will (for example, to another facility) is kidnapping.

Some of us health providers take all that less seriously than we should, but we're all taught it, we're all wary of it, and all of us who are decent providers believe it's one of the most important pillars of ethical medical treatment. This is because, due to the truly enormous number and variety of horrifying things we can do to people during medical treatment to make them better--including manipulate consciousness, remove memories, put tubes down peoples throats and stop them from breathing without us doing it for them, cause immense physical pain, touch people's genitals multiple times per day in ways that are painful (potentially for months), etc--often the only thing that separates medicine from torture is consent. We'd like for an important difference to be outcome, but sometimes it is and sometimes unfortunately, it's very much not.

Criminal prosecution around consent issues is rarely undertaken (usually they're solved with money. Lots and lots of money), so, yes, my felony murder rule analysis is unrealistic in that regard, but it is still on point ethically imo. Should Dean have realized he was putting the occupants of his home at risk through Sam's nonconsensual possession? OF COURSE he should have. Gadreel literally told him that multiple times. He should've gotten suspicious as early as 9x02.

Anyway, monster-hunting is an inherently dangerous business, getting into the Winchesters' orbit almost always results in death, end of life issues irl are horribly difficult for patients' families, and I really don't blame Dean very much for any of that or fans for reacting with a tangled spaghetti ball of emotional arguments on either side. Mostly who I blame is Carver. He could've chosen a medical ethics framework or a rape framework or neither and stuck to whatever that one thing he chose was and resolved it in a serious manner, but spn notoriously likes to have its huge yikes controversial undertones and eat them too, so they left us all with this mess instead.

*@pollsnatural, this poll is a perfect example of why blocking and moving on is futile for me. I unfollowed you, but my dash is covered with Gadreel discourse vague-posting and Kevin discourse vague-posting and victim-blaming discourse vague-posting and a couple other discourses that when I came here turn out also to have originated here as well. The holes are everywhere. That said, if the end result is Sam, Dean, and Cas fans understanding more clearly where our issues are coming from and hopefully becoming a little more tolerant of each other, I actually appreciate this instance of getting them out in the open where a large number of people can see them. Also, I wanted to thank you very sincerely for your warnings and careful tone on the rape and teen attraction polls, which I see have (so far) not become too controversial or ugly, and I can't even begin to express how grateful that makes me. I'm considering posting on the Sam one later because that one in particular is I think worded very well and in a way that encourages deeper consideration of what tptb thought they were on about.
