Yeesh... writing an intro scene for a fic whose body has very little to do with said intro, and I feel in my bones that there's something off with all this

more than anything else, I get the sense I'm spending too much time 'covering my bases', thinking of how to account for what all the other characters who logically should be present are doing even though none of that adds to the meat and potatoes of this whole fic. But it feels wrong not to, like I'm shortchanging the story...

I was having relationship problems. My mom didn't really like my boyfriend. And..she was pretty much like, 'If you want to move to Wisconsin with him, fine, go.' And I packed my stuff, she basically wanted me out of the house before then because we kept having arguments. A lot of our arguments stemmed from me being with Nick. So I gave him money to come here and asked him to pick me up cause my mom was kicking me out.
