NaKniCroMo 2024 Day...something...WIP Wednesday:

As predicted, work and illness have been conspiring against me. I did lengthen the back of the vest last week, and am happy with the fit now!

HOWEVER. I realized I probably didn't have enough fiber left to make the lapels and have them match the back. So because I am Out of My Damn Mind (that's the technical term)...I have ordered more fiber! Don't tell Savitri.

While I was pouting about the vest (I only realized a few days ago that the dyer had it back in stock)/waiting for the fiber to arrive, I also ran a couple of under-plied skeins through the wheel again (pink and brown/blue) and started spinning tests for my next big project (gold/teal) to figure out if I want to do 2-, 3-, or chain-ply to show off the colors. So...we have learned that March is a month for spinning, not knitting.

Also, my tablet weaving kit arrived today!

Happy [Incredibly late] Valentines Day !!! Decided to do a trio of illustrations as I’ve done in previous years of diff forms of love!! Its only 3 but heres the list:

Sundew & Willow -> Romantic Love [They’re a classic! First queer POV’s and impactful ones for me!! They’re sweet together <3]

Qibli & Ostrich -> Familial Love [they are Cousins to me!!! Adopted family who are very protective of each other]

Turtle & Peril -> Platonic Love [Their friendship is so nice to me!! I don’t ship them at all - the heart motif is just used to symbolize love!!!! Also Turtles scales are canonically “as strong as diamonds” so him & Peril can make physical contact without Turtle getting burnt lmao]

Life and money stress continues, so today I actually called the mattress place I applied at to speak to the manager and plug my name. At first it was a pretty generic call but I was like, "Actually though, funny story, I met the owner on my first competitor shop when I was working for another company and he asked if I was looking for work."

"You met the [redacted]??"

"Yeah, it's been years I doubt he'd remember me but it made me want to work with him!"

She then said she'd give him a call rather than just forwarding my name along, so fingers crossed networking and shameless self promotion can win in the end.
