B is for Boy Genius?
july 23, 2008
summary: You outsmart Spencer in one of his most talented subjects: Poker. Derek officially removes his "Boy Genius" title, effectively aggravating sans-poker-champ Spencer. And someone is a little hot when he's angry...
word count: 2k
warnings: none really, some friendly bullying of Spencer by Derek but nothing that isn't normal in the show.
“Straight flush.” Spencer says with a grin. He’s been in the BAU going on 5 years, and has yet to be beaten at poker by anyone.
“Oh, Spencer,” you lean in toward him and flatten your cards on the table. “Royal. Flush.”
“What? No way.” He speaks before he can even look at your cards. “Oh my god.”
“How’s it feel to be beaten at your own game?”
“I want a rematch. Outside dealer.” He passes the deck to Derek, who is sitting at his desk across the aisle.
“Pretty boy got beat, huh?” Derek says, beginning to shuffle the cards. He deals them out, planting a little kiss on the last card he hands you. “Good luck, sweetheart.”
Sweetheart is what Derek has called you since you joined the team. At first you thought it was a little weird, but by now you’re used to it. And to be honest, it’s one of the more normal names he calls his coworkers. So you lucked out there.
You see Spencer smirk, he probably has a good hand. Well, maybe not. He’s always had a pretty good poker face, no pun intended.
“What’s going on?” Rossi says as he makes his way out of his office to see Derek, JJ, and Emily all surrounding you and Spencer.
“Oh, pretty boy and girl genius here are having a poker-off.” Derek says. That’s the first time you’ve ever been called girl genius, it makes you feel a small tingle in your stomach. You look up at the former boy genius in front of you, he’s got a rosy blush on his cheeks and spreading across his nose and down his neck. His pupils have dilated. Oh... Maybe he’s just nervous. . .
“Spencer here just lost his first poker game.” Emily says, giving him a pat on the shoulder. It makes him jump.
“First and only.” Spencer testified. He clenches his jaw, making a small dimple appear. “Full house.” He slams his cards down and looks toward you with a smile.
You click your tongue. Rossi has now appeared and is watching from behind Spencer’s shoulder. Locking eyes with him, you slide his cards to the side. “Four of a kind.” you say as you sit each card down one by one.
Spencer’s eyes all but come out of his skull. Derek erupts in laughter, “Dethroned,” he manages to say. He ruffles Spencer’s hair. “How’s it feel having a new genius around?”
“I’m impressed.” Spencer tells you, ignoring Derek’s provoking remarks. “Where’d you learn that?”
“Oh you know, picked it up during my college years.” You say, shrugging your shoulders and giving him a half-mouthed smirk.
The crowd of your coworkers fades out, and everyone gets back to work. Your desk being directly across from Spencer’s, you see him studying the cards through the pile of binders and Manilla folders between the two of you.
“I still can’t believe you won. Twice,” he looks up from his desk to say.
“You just can’t give up the crown, can you, Spence?” You respond.
_____
You get up from your desk to go get your lunch from the breakroom. With a morning filled with poker and getting a solid new nickname, you’ve worked up quite an appetite. Upon opening the door, you bump shoulders with JJ, who is making her way out.
“Woah there, girl genius,” she says. “Watch where you’re going there.”
“Sorry JJ, the genius doesn’t come equipped with self-steering.” You joked.
Spencer is standing at the counter stirring a coffee. His head turned toward you as you walked in the room, causing him to lose control of his hands and the coffee-coated spoon went flying.
“Nor hand eye coordination.” Emily laughs from the table in the corner.
“Shut up.” Spencer mumbles, wiping the small mess he made up with a paper towel. “You know, the average win rate for professional poker players is only 47%.”
“Well, as of right now, y/n’s is 100.” Emily pats his shoulder once again as she walks past him and out the door, leaving you and Spencer alone.
“I don’t understand why everyone is making such a big deal of this little poker thing.” He says, a little annoyed.
You walk behind him and open the fridge. “It’s all in good fun, Spence. We all know you’re still the smartest by a long shot.”
“No, that’s not what I mean. Like, why has everyone been bringing it back up. I lost a game, big deal.”
“I think everyone is just surprised is all. I mean, you haven’t lost a game in five years, Spence. That's a long time.”
“Not really. Considering most of the people here are in their thirties, that’s only 1.5% of their life-“
You interrupt him. “But, they’ve only worked here since they were about 25, making that their entire time here.”
Spencer’s mouth drops wide open. He cannot believe you caught that. Especially before him. “I- Wow. I guess you’re right." He looks defeated, tensing his shoulders and taking a heavy breath.
"You're still the smartest person I know, Spence." You try to make him feel better. The corners of his mouth turn up in what would not quite be classified as a smile. "And the whole team agrees with me, they're just trying to get under your skin."
He giggles and makes a disgusted face. "Ew. You didn't have to word it like that, y/n. I've lost my appetite." He pushes his coffee away and grins.
You quickly grab a straw from the small four compartment organizer to your right, sticking it in the cup and taking a sip out of it. You swallow, blinking aggressively. "Spencer, how many sugars did you put in here?" He'd been autonomously opening and pouring in sugar packets since the conversation began.
He glances in the small garbage bin beneath his feet. "Um, thirteen." He says, pressing his lips together forming the "white people" smile.
_____
You walk in the office slightly later than your normal time. You took a detour to the local supermarket in order to pick up some yogurt for lunch, getting sidetracked by a t-shirt you found on the end-cap of an isle.
You grabbed the t-shirt and two bottles of coffee and hurried to the register, completely forgetting the yogurt you made the trip for in the first place.
As you reach your car, you toss your knitted bag, now filled with coffee and a t-shirt, into your passenger seat and quickly climb inside.
The office is about 2 minutes from the supermarket. As you drive, you play with the fabric of the black shirt peeking out of the bag. You wonder when you're going to have a chance to put it on.
As you pull into the parking lot of the BAU, you see Spencer hustling in. He must be running late. Odd. He was never late. Never. You saw Spencer’s rare fault as the perfect moment, and slipped your sweater off in the driver’s seat of your car. You slid the black tshirt over your bra, pulling the button up sweater over your shoulders and fastening all but the top button. You grabbed your bag, sliding it over your left shoulder and exited your car, shuffling in.
You met Spencer at the elevator, unsure how you both got there at the same time as he’d entered the building a good two minutes before you.
“Good morning, Spence,” you said and smiled at him.
“Mornin’, y/n. How are you?” He responded.
“I’m good, how about you?”
“I’m okay, I was running late this morning and didn’t have time to get my coffee, but other than that I’m doing well.”
You thought about the glass bottle in your bag. You knew grabbing two would be a good idea. You looked up at the tall man, feeling small as he glanced down toward you. “I stopped by the market this morning, I picked up an extra coffee. I was going to just save it for tomorrow, but you’re welcome to have it.”
“Oh, are you sure, y/n? Don’t feel like you have to give up your coffee because I was up all night.”
You wondered why he was up all night. What could’ve been on his mind that kept him up so late? You gestured the bottle over to him, smiling as he took it from your grasp.
“Thank you, y/n. I owe you for this one.”
The elevator door opened and the two of you began walking down the hall to the BAU room. Spencer opens his coffee, a satisfying “pop” sound as the seal of the lid breaks. You pull the glass door open and hold it for him as he takes his first sip. He scurries through and you follow, pulling your own coffee from your bag.
“Well, well, well,” Derek announced loud enough the whole building could hear. “Look who finally decided to show up to work.”
“Shut up,” Spencer retaliated.
“I didn’t know coffee was on the new genius this morning. Where’s mine, y/n?” Derek joked, smirking at Spencer.
You could tell this one stung a little bit. Spencer knew it was all fun and games, but having his one strong suit, in his mind anyways, be taken away from him hurt. You rolled your eyes and hurried over to your desk, sitting your bag down on the files you’d yet to fill out. You looked up, expecting Spencer to be at the table across from you, but he wasn’t. He’d walked away. You sighed and got to work.
Spencer returned about half an hour later, sitting down at his desk without even acknowledging you. He began aggressively writing on his paperwork, so aggressively that his hand veins protruded and knuckles turned white. By the clench of his jaw, you knew he was probably a little upset by the interaction with Derek earlier, so you decided now would be the perfect time to unveil your purchase from this morning.
You stood up, unbuttoning your sweater and slowly worked your way toward Spencer. You grabbed the deck of playing cards from his desk, drawing the man’s attention. He glanced up at you with a slightly raised eyebrow. Leaning down close to his ear, you whispered, “follow me.”
He shivered as the heat of your voice hit the back of his neck, but obliged. You took him up the stairs to the half floor located in front of Hotch’s office. “Just go with it, okay?” You said to him. He looked confused, but nodded in agreement despite.
You loudly cleared your throat, attention from the floor below turned toward you. You held up the deck of cards. You made sure your shirt was visible and gently brushed your side against the man who stood next to you.
“I would like to re-declare Dr. Spencer Reid as certified office genius. After further research, he has proven himself worthy of the title.” You announced to the rest of the team who had their full attention on you. Spencer smiled.
“You’re too kind,” Spencer said, leaning down to take a peek at your shirt that he’d noticed you’d paid extra attention to. He couldn’t quite see it as half of it was wrinkled from the curves of your body and the guard rail was disturbing his view as he leaned forward. He grabbed your shoulders and gently twisted them to face him. His eyes met your breasts, despite knowing he was just reading the vinyl words, you couldn’t help but feel your face heat up a little bit. You knew everyone in the office was watching you guys as well, making you even warmer. Spencer’s cheeks had a small hint of rose to them as well as he mouthed the words on your shirt.
“I’m with genius,” he whispered under his breath. A smile took over his face, but it slowly faded as he realized he was still holding on to your shoulders. He felt his cheeks grow red and he quickly pulled his arms back down to his side.
You opened your mouth to begin speaking, but right when the words were about to come out, the door to Hotch’s office swung open and he came barreling through, files in hand.
“Sorry to ruin the fun guys, but we have a case.”

# WHILE WE'RE YOUNG
pairing: kate martin x new york liberty!reader
word count: 1084
warnings: none !
summary: you and kate hard launch your relationship to your teams.
⭑ from lani: i kinda hate this but to my flamingo anon i hope it suffices 😣
masterlist !
YOUR KNEE WAS bouncing with excitement, your hands shaking with anticipation, your cheeks coloring a light shade of pink - and you couldn't tell anyone why.
you were currently sitting in your team's bus driving to michelob ultra arena, home of the reigning wnba champs.
your team, the new york liberty, was going up against your girlfriend's team, the last vegas aces. you two were the star rookies (the only rookies) of your respective teams, which meant all eyes on both of you to see how exactly you would improve the two best franchises in the league.
now, no one but your former iowa teammates and own family members knew about your relationship with kate. it was still early on in the wnba season, meaning you and kate were still easing into new environments with a completely different team. that is exactly why your relationship was kept under wraps from your vets.
you weren't completely sure about kate's circumstances, but off the court, your teammates loved to tease you and ask about your personal life. not in an invasive manner, of course, but simply to build a closer connection with you other than through basketball.
------
"girl, you gotta give us something," breanna practically begs.
the team had just finished a brutal group workout and were heading out to a restaurant for dinner to relax.
as you slipped on kate's your iowa hoodie, you shook your head and laughed at breanna’s attempt to discuss your love life.
"hey, i told you before and i'll tell you again, i got a girl," you stated vaguely.
"we don't get any other details?" she asks, "does she play ball? does she live here in brooklyn? does she-"
"dude!" you laugh at her eagerness, "all i can say is that you will be meeting her very, very soon."
"you better not be kidding, y/n, i'll tell coach to give you two extra gym laps tomorrow."
"i swear on the torch, if that makes you feel any better."
"okay..." she says as she eyes you suspiciously, "i guess the mystery continues."
"you're such a dork!" you hear sabrina exclaim as she walks out of the locker room snickering.
------
"alright, girls, i want all of you out on the court in five for warm-ups!" coach brondello yells, peeking her head through the locker room door.
you fix your ponytail one last time, making sure all your hair is secure before jogging out to meet up with the rest of the team in the hallway.
"so last week when you said we would meet your mystery girl soon..." breanna nudges you, "how soon would that be?"
"today, actually," you smile, "she's gonna be at the game."
a white lie. yes, she would be at the game, but you didn't reveal that it was because she would be in the game - specifically on the opposing team.
"for real?" she asks, eyebrows raised in shock.
"yup."
"how'd you swing that? i thought tonight was sold out."
"it is. but let's just say she has her own special connections," you smirk.
"yo, sabrina! you heard that, right?"
"yeah, i heard," sabrina says.
"you think we can get some embarrassing pictures or stories?"
"one hundred percent," she laughs, "i'm down."
"i can't with y'all," you sigh, shaking your head playfully.
"okay, ladies, the aces are about to finish their fifteen minutes so there's gonna be a bit of schedule overlap but that's fine," your coach voices before you're all faced with your opponents on the floor.
your eyes scan the room with a sense of urgency and excitement, your heart feeling light and warm at the thought of soon being in the arms of your girlfriend.
you find her expertly drilling a layup and chatting with the her teammates before she stops in her tracks completely.
as your eyes meet kate's, for a split second, you two are the only people in the arena. she lightly jogs over to you, smiles evident on both of your faces.
once you're in her arms, all your worries and stress fade away. she lifts you up for a second out of pure excitement before setting you back down.
"i missed you so much," she says, arms still tightly wrapped around your shoulders.
"i missed you, too, katie," you reply as you snuggle your face into her neck. you place feathery kisses on her skin, something you've been wanting to do for weeks.
when you pull away from the hug, you take a second to admire the fact that your girlfriend is actually standing in front of you. after spending everyday together for four straight years in college, a couple weeks away from each other felt like an eternity.
kate decides she can't wait any longer, hurriedly placing her lips on yours. you both grin into the sweet kiss, savoring the feeling before it was gone.
meanwhile, your teammates, aces and miberty alike, had been observing the interaction, smiling admiringly at your "friendship." at least until the kiss.
"OH MY GOD?"
"DUDE."
"Y/N!"
"did you know about this??"
"of course not??"
you and kate laugh at the veterans' reactions, enjoying their shocked expressions.
"surprise?" you offer to breanna and sabrina specifically, whose jaws are practically on the floor.
you leave kate to talk to her teammates while you converse with yours, already knowing that breanna will be the first to talk. the rest of your teammates simply smiled at you and offered silent compliments
"so when you said your girlfriend would be at the game..." breanna says with raised eyebrows and a teasing smirk.
"i mean..." you giggle, "i didn't lie?"
"whatever, rook," she laughs, "you guys are cute together."
"just make sure you can still beat their asses later," sabrina adds, walking up to you two.
"oh, no doubt about it. i know that girl like the back of my hand, i got this," you explain, "and, to be honest, her defense is not that great," you joke.
"hey, i heard that!"
you snicker along with breanna and sabrina at kate's response. a smile lingers on your face as the laughter dies down, even as you say goodbye to kate before having to play against her.
you truly were at the happiest point in your life: your dreams of playing with your favorite professional team came true, your veterans were the most supportive, helpful teammates ever, and you still got to be around your girlfriend who is also achieving her goals.
what else could you ask for, really?

There for you.
paring: kuroo tetsurō x fem reader.
wc: 846
warnings: mentions of being sick, usage of my love, love and baby.
kuroo tetsurō, former captain of the nekoma volleyball team and current employee of the jva might as well just be your soulmate, the person promised to you. as difficult as people see you, he gets around you, he always has. so that meant that he saw right through your bullshit; he was attentive and observant, he knew when you were hiding something, when something was off with you, and this particular morning, his suspicions were proven right when he received a call from your mother.
he hates how stubborn you could be when you wanted to, and it always got on your family’s nerves when you never said you were feeling sick or sad because you were never that type of person, and the sentence “you’ll take me to the doctors when i ask for it.” was always used. you always dismissed any bad feeling, but for some ironic reason you always thought the worst out of every situation, it’s funny, for someone who hates being sick, you were often in that situation. so it wasn’t weird for your boyfriend to find out you were down with the flu from another person.
so there you were, laying on your shared bed, almost crying from how unbearable your fever was getting, your body was hurting too and that uncomfortable feeling on your nose and throat that never seemed to go away. and to add to all that fun and magic, you just got your period, so we might add the cramps to the equation. it wasn’t the best day of your week.
you heard the front door and immediately sat up, cursing yourself because you already knew what was about to come, but you decided to play dumb the second you heard his footsteps getting closer and his tall figure was leaning on the door frame, he wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt and see if you’ll admit that you were sick.
“tetsu what are you doing here?” you asked as you raised and eyebrow, finding some strength to get out of your bed. “you should be at work…”
“i asked my boss to let me take the day off since you were sick. how are you feeling, baby?
“i’m not sick, i’m fine.”
“hmm… would you at least give your loving boyfriend a hug? i didn’t get a chance to say goodbye earlier.” he was plotting something, of course, but you didn’t even notice, you were tired and you wanted to hug him too, so you gave in and hugged him, letting out a sigh of relief from how warm he felt against your body. “you’re burning, my love.” he whispered softly and placed his hand on your forehead to confirm, gently pushing you back into the edge of the bed where he sat you down.
“‘m fine.” was all you said before you stood up to walk away to the hallway, into the living room and to the kitchen, but you didn’t get too far to the kitchen because you had stopped to place your hand on a wall for some support, it wasn’t a joke how tired you were feeling, and he just stood behind you with that knowing look on his face and his arms crossed.
“being your boyfriend means i get to take care of you, y/n,” he approached you and placed a hand on your shoulder, making you face him, and as soon as you do, that same hand is placed on your cheek, his thumb caressing it. as soon as you closed your eyes to enjoy his touch, he carried you like a sack of potatoes back into the room. “stop being so stubborn.”
“put me down, tetsurō, i’m not a child!”
“since you want to behave like one, take it like a champ.” he said as he walked back to the room, laying your body gently on the bed and putting the blankets over you, kissing your forehead in the process, you just gave up. “have you taken any meds?” you nodded. “have you stayed hydrated? fever dehydrates you a lot.” and you nodded again. “atta girl.” and he laid down beside you. “you’re not weak for being sick, love, and you’re not bothering anyone either. i want you to speak up whenever you feels sick or anything like that, ‘kay?”
he put the blankets over him too, hugging you and holding you close to his chest as soon as he saw some tears rolling down your eyes. kuroo knew you hated being sick, and he also knew how you always felt like a nuisance even though your family never felt that way about you, but you didn’t like feeling that you were a burden to someone.
“i don’t like being sick.”
he smiled to himself. there you were, admitting that you were, in fact, sick. “i know, love, but i’m here to take care of you…” he kissed your forehead once more as he rubbed your back, feeling how your body gave in and you stopped feeling tense.
he had always been there to take care of you in every extension of the word. through high school, college and now as you two live together, taking care you just comes natural to him, and he loves being able to do so.
reblogs are very much appreciated! love y’all <3

Hello. I’m Florian, or Mod Flower I guess. My sister and I decided to set up this blog since we’re moving to Paldea soon. We wanted to make friends online at least, since making friends in person at a new school is probably going to be kinda hard. Uhhhh an about me… I like watching competetive battles on tv or mewtube. We’re from Galar so like, battling in general is kinda big culturally, yknow? I could never strategize like some of those gym leaders could though, have you seen Raihan’s weather team?
Okay okay we get it, you’re a nervous mess that likes to watch battles but not train Pokémon yourself. Okay. Hi, I’m mod Jewel, aka Juliana! Said the galarian way not the paldean way. I had to cut out like a paragraph of my brother going onnnnn and on nnnnn about gym leaders and the former champ Leon and strategies and like. Yeah that’s cool or whatever but we’re fifteen, we should be doing that ourselves now! Hopefully once we’re settled in paldea and the issue of school is dealt with, we can have our own exciting adventure!!! -Mod Jewel
This may not matter now, but for the future-
Mod Flower’s Pokémon: Sir Flatbread the Drowzee, Flint the Houndour, Spookss the gastly (technically registered to Juli for later trade evo purposes), Copper the Hisuian Growlithe, Cyril the Indeedee, Whispur the Espurr (has hisuian zorua genes, long story)
Mod Jewel’s Pokémon: Bowsette the steenee, Lapis the Azumarill, Brightbill the ducklett (noibat genes), Torpedo the gible
Shared Pokémon: Koraidon, Miraidon, Dekopon the Ogerpon, Eclipse the Bloodmoon Beast, Fezandipiti, Munkidori, Okidogi
(OOC below the cut)
Howdy! I’m vesper, of @vespers-pokeblog-hub fame. This is a pokemon irl liveblog retelling of the events of Pokémon scarlet/violet, but with both protagonists and both versions of the story in one universe
Anyone can interact! I don’t know all the terms or anything, but I treat pokemon as sapient, if usually unable to speak with their trainers in most cases, anyways, and even if it’s other versions of Flori, Jul, their friends, etc, rotomblr is a multiverse imo. The twins are used to rotomblr at this point so they’re just like “oh ok might as well happen” about things.
I would like to ask you guys to not tell them how the story of scavio goes, unless it’s really vague like “the professor thing” or “is Mabosstif ok” or something like that- if you “spoil” their story to them I’m probably just going to ignore the ask.
Mails are okay, magic anons aren’t, I don’t know much about all the other stuff, but I’ll take it on a case by case basis, and I withhold the right to ignore anything that I don’t want to incorporate. Mystery gift is open!
This is really just an excuse to replay scarlet and violet, and a way to dip my toes in the Pokémon irl rp scene with a story I don’t have to completely make up since it’s just the canon story but my version haha.
I don’t really do DNIs because they don’t work imo, but I do block if I don’t like something. This probably won’t matter so long as everyone is normal, but this is tumblr, so like. It is what it is. I’m an adult but flori and Juli are kids so be normal, I’m autistic and might misinterpret things but I’m open to (good faith) correction so be normal, just treat me like you’d wanna be treated and we’ll be chill.

Does anyone else want to talk about Husk and Charlie’s relationship? Cause I do!
It’s always struck me just how sweet Husk is whenever he’s interacting with Charlie, despite not doing it very often.
Whenever pointing out everyone’s problems at the beginning of episode 4, his voice is the kindest when he mentions Charlie’s.
He refers to her as the princess, which is what she is, but I’ve always found it sweet that the grumpy old FORMER OVERLORD reverently speaks about the Princess of Hell
Most overlords that we see (and several prominent sinners as well), with the exception of Rosie, do not seem to care for Hell’s royalty, either not considering them at all or outright disdainfully mocking the Morningstar family
Vox, Val and several others call Charlie names behind her back and to her face but Husk, who with all that he has suffered through his time in hell recognizes and respects Charlie’s position, just like Rosie does
What I’m saying is, if Rosie gets Mom status, Husk deserves a seat at the honorary father table
Look at him!
He looks a breath a way from saying, “Good job, champ.”

All of a sudden, Meatball is the human and the 100th and our girls in the ATA are dogs.
What breed is everyone? Is Buck a golden retriever?
OOOOOOH. This is fun!!! And I have put a lot of thought into this, hahahahahahahaha. So I hope you don't hate it! 🤣
I think Buck’s your rescue dog! He’s soft, but he’s had a hard life, and despite all that he’s just trying to do the right and honest thing. I think he’s a mix between a shepherd and a mountain dog of some kind that looks absolutely adorable, but used to live on the street.
Now Bucky, I think he’s your golden. He’s the helper dog you get your rescue to teach them how to be a dog and give them a friend, someone to show you how to experience the world. He’s lovable, he’s loyal, and he loves to run around and chase a ball, and he’s so so patient.
Dorothy gives me the Border Collie vibe. She’s got a pretty loud bark when need be, she herds her girls and the rest of the pilots she’s in charge of, she goes up against anyone she needs to for them, and she’s super super smart.
Rose totally screams Afghan to me. She’s so smart and independent and confident, and she’s driven and suspicious of people, but she’s also a little in her head sometimes, and may seem a little ditzy or self absorbed, when she’s actually far from it. She’s loyal and she doesn’t trust just anyone. And she has really, really great hair.
I think a Brittany fits Amelia. She’s energetic and loving, she gives everyone a chance and she’s never met someone who she couldn’t make into a friend. She’s smart, she wears her heart on her sleeve, she’s a really fast learner and one of the quickest to move through the ranks in the ATA, and she doesn’t let a whole lot get her down.
I don't know why, but I cannot get a Pug out of my head when I think of George. Or a Corgi. Like, he's just so fun and witty and he's always a good time. He's clever and charming and fairly docile (until provoked) and he commands a room so well.
Curt kinda feels like a Jack Russell Terrier, honestly. Or maybe something crossed with a Chihuahua. He's lively and alert, he sometimes has a little bit of an attitude, but he's really fast and has so much courage and spunk and he's so dedicated to his friends.
Ok, hang with me here, but I think Rosie's 100% a Standard Poodle. He's sociable, energetic, athletic, and beyond intelligent. He's showy and smooth but he's also sweet and hard-working. Anyone looking at him would think he's a total teddy bear, but he's actually a machine who is never afraid to do the right thing and follows orders like a champ. His nickname is Twinkle Toes, he's a total poodle.
And, finally, our girl. Our damaged but in the process of healing heroine, Stella Frank. I have gone back and forth on so many different dogs, because I couldn't find just the right one. I briefly considered the Doberman, but Frank's a little too hesitant for that breed, I think. I considered a smaller dog in the terrier family or even a beagle, but she's not that friendly or loud, and I even looked into a Dalmatian, but I'm not quite sure "energetic" is the right word for Frank. Anxious? Nervous? Needing to move her body so she doesn't get a little destructive? Yes. She's not jumping up and down, running around in circles excited.
BUT, there was one dog I just kept coming back to: the Greyhound. She's pretty mild, but a little standoffish and sensitive. She doesn't respond well to criticism or harsh/loud words, and her former life wasn't a great one. Which, I think many Greyhounds also experience. She doesn't like strangers, she can be a little off-putting and straight faced, but once she's comfortable and familiar she's fun to be around and affectionate. She wants to be part of a team, rather than a cog in a machine, and she likes wide, open spaces where she can be as free as she wants to be.

WRESTLING ALL STARS: Heroes and Villains : February 1993
“HITMAN” HART WINS WWF BELT!
“Sizzler in Saskatoon” leaves Flair sprawled!
[Bret proudly displays his WWF Worlds Heavyweight belt.
Nailz is no match for the Hitman in their title bout.
Hart has Nailz in an arm bar in their title clash.]
On October 12, 1992 history was made when the man known as “The Hitman” Bret Hart defeated Ric Flair in Saskatoon, Canada to win the WWF World Heavyweight title. For Hart, it was a big thrill to win the World title, but what made the victory even more rewarding for Hart was that he was able to capture the title in his beloved Canada.
[“When I wake up tomorrow, I hope this hasn’t been a dream!”--Bret Hart after winning belt.]
“Words cannot describe how I feel tonight,” Hart stated after his incredible victory. “I’ve always dreamed that someday I would win the World title and now it’s mine. Ric Flair is great. He has been the best there is for many years, but tonight I guess you can say I was just a little bit better. The thought that I’m really the World champion still hasn’t been a dream.”
Two days before the bout in Canada Bret Hart faced Ric Flair in Los Angeles with the belt on the line.
[Bret shows off his Intercontinental strap.

In that bout Hart seemingly pinned Ric Flair and even left the ting with the belt. But the following day when Mr. Perfect and Bobby Heenan protested that the referee who made the call was not the official referee, the WWF commission reversed the decision and the championship belt was returned to Ric Flair. Flair, however, didn’t have his precious “10 pounds of gold” too long. Just two days later, Hart pulled the upset of the year.
After his incredible victory, Bret Hart, speaking to Mean Gene Okerlund on the WWF Superstars of Wrestling TV program made his first appearance as champion and gave a rousing interview.
[Hart is a true credit to his profession. He is more than worthy of the honor that has been bestowed upon him.]
“I can’t tell you how proud I am,” Hart told the TV audience. “This is the greatest moment in my whole life, and I dedicate it to all the people who believe that our biggest dreams can come true. Since I was a kid I’ve been involved in wrestling. My whole family has been involved in wrestling. My father trained me and took me on the mat. I listened and learned and dedicated myself to mastering technical wrestling. I followed up on all the little details, never thinking I knew it all because you just never know it all. I’ve had my share of wins. I’ve had my share of losses, but you just wait your whole life for that one single chance and fortunately I got that chance. I have to thank every wrestler that I ever wrestled against. I’ve wrestled the greatest wrestler in the world and I learned so much. In particular I have to thank Ric Flair for giving me this chance. I want to thank each and every one of my fans around the world who supported me all these years. I want to thank all my friends that backed me up through thick and thin. I want to thank my family who have been with me since I was a little baby, and most of all I want to thank God above. Thank you for the greatest moment in my life. I’m proud to be the WWF World champion.”
[Hart shows off his World Tag Team title strap.
Hart and Jim “the Anvil” Neidhart are former WWF Tag Team champions.]
With Hart’s victory he joins Pedro Morales as the only man to hold the WWF tag team belt, the Intercontinental title and now the World belt. The new champion, however, should have a tough time trying to hold on to his newly won crown. Ric Flair, Razor Ramon, Papa Shango, Nailz, the Berzerker, Shane Michaels and possibly even Mr. Perfect are gunning for the new champ. With challenges like this, Bret Hart will have his work cut out for him, but if anyone can handle himself against the best in the sport it’s Bret Hart.
It’s great to see someone like Hart wearing the WWF Heavyweight championship strap. He’s a true credit to the profession and more than worthy of the honor that has been bestowed upon him.

Mind Control
AI-less Whumptober: Day 6 Conditioning | Mind control | Forced to hurt someone else @ailesswhumptober
Fandom: OMORI Rating: Teen Word Count: 2625 Summary: Under Bossman, Hero is a puppet. He has no say in what his body does, and no way to resist when it starts to hurt his little siblings. AO3 LINK
“Hero, I want you… To take over the Last Resort for me.”
It had begun small, inconspicuous. Everything had been fine, and while Hero had been apprehensive, sure, he was hardly out of his mind with worry. He’d reminded Jawsum of his age, but the businessman was firm in his decision, luggage held tightly in-hand.
“I know you can handle this, Hero,” Jawsum told him, face softening a little as he averted his eyes. Jawsum wasn’t a fan of open affection. “You’re resilient, and smart, and I trust you. I’ve spent way too long at this business, growing my net worth, improving my stocks, but in the end, what’s it worth? This building’s falling apart, and now that I have a successor, I finally realise that I don’t have to stay here anymore. After all, I’m a billionaire!” Jawsum laughed heartily, then something guarded crossed his expression and he beckoned Hero closer. “Just… Stay true to yourself, and you’ll be fine.”
As Hero processed the alligator’s words, Jawsum snapped his fingers, and a Gator handed him a bright red tie. “Your tie, bossman.”
Bossman. Hero wasn’t sure he liked that. It felt too professional, too uptight. That wasn’t him, and the Gators knew that wasn’t him. Hero had befriended plenty of them, and they knew he wouldn’t care about titles like that. Still, he said nothing at the term of address, awkwardly fastening the tie around his neck instead. As he did, a strange feeling of wrongness sweeping through him. It was like he’d been dunked in a pool of ice, a shiver overcoming him as he fidgeted with the tie nervously.
“Lookin’ like a real champ, Hero,” Jawsum offered him a thumbs up. “Don’t tell the others, but you always were my favourite. For what it’s worth… I’m sorry.”
Hero blinked in confusion. “Sorry for wha–”
“It’s vacation time, baby!” Jawsum interrupted hastily, standing atop his desk. “Ol’ Jawsum is gonna have the time of his life!”
Hero noted the absence of a ‘Mr’ before his name. Wow. He really was serious about giving up the business.
Jawsum laughed one final time, then headed to the elevator, almost running towards it. Hero wasn’t quite sure why he was rushing so much, but figured his bo– his former boss must just be excited. Soon enough, it was just he and his kids left in the office.
“Woah!” Kel exclaimed cheerfully. “I can’t believe my big brother is a boss now! Way to go!”
Hero smiled nervously, still not quite sure about this whole ‘boss’ thing. It… Didn’t quite suit him. He was all for helping people out, and there was no denying his enterprising prowess, but being in a position of authority meant having to order people around. That didn’t sit right with him. Besides, Hero always worried about making big decisions, not wanting to upset anyone. As boss, he’d have to make those decisions all the time. Uneasily, he tugged on the tie again, the fabric feeling just a little too tight around his throat.
“Your tie looks great, Hero!” Aubrey beamed, eyes sparkling. “How does it feel?”
“It feels…” Hero shifted uncomfortably, the tie seeming to tighten yet again until it pressed against his windpipe. Again, that cold sensation flooded through him, and he tried to swallow through his dry throat. “Alright… I guess,” he finished hesitantly. That was a lie. It felt wrong.
“Try snapping your fingers!” Aubrey encouraged enthusiastically, and Omori nodded minutely beside her.
“Okay. You mean like–”
Hero was about to oblige, lifting his hand into the air. Then, ice ran through his veins, freezing his arm in place as his words cut themselves off, Hero’s breath escaping him in a visible puff. The tie squeezed his throat, something pressing against his mind that shouldn’t be there, and Hero distantly felt himself fall to his knees.
“Hero!”
“What’s wrong?!”
Aubrey and Kel’s voices overlapped, shocked and concerned. That was reasonable, really, Hero thought as he wheezed on the ground. His lungs were being choked, his throat clogging with pain and the threat of oncoming tears, and a headache hit him at full force as he clutched at his temples.
“The– the tie–” Hero forced out, then another spike of agony shot through his head and he doubled over further, every limb seeming to tremble. He didn’t know what was happening, terror ploughing through him, destroying every ounce of rational thinking in its path.
Then, suddenly, it all stopped.
Hero felt a slow exhale leave his lips, no longer a concerning smoky white. The cold feeling dimmed a little, but the pressure against his throat and brain vanished, and Hero absently adjusted his tie, not even realising he was doing so at first. He opened his mouth to tell his friends he was okay.
Well. Hero tried to open his mouth, but it remained firmly, frighteningly shut. Then, he tried to stand, to blink, to move, to do anything. His body didn’t respond to a thing, and panic built within him as it piloted himself, standing up and walking behind the desk.
“Hero?” Aubrey asked uncertainly. “Are you… Okay now?”
“Heh,” a small laugh escaped his throat, unlike any sound Hero had ever made before. It was unfamiliar in his mouth, seeming to belong to someone else entirely as it built and built. “Heh, heh…”
“Umm… Hero?” Aubrey tried again after a second, sounding worried.
“You seem a little too happy there,” Kel sounded unimpressed, but some sort of hidden concern lingered within his tone. Hero knew his brother far too well for Kel to be able to keep secrets from him for long.
“Happy?” His voice said suddenly, loud and clipped. Derisive, even. Hero felt horror swell within him as a too-wide smile split across his face, making his cheeks ache. “Don’t be silly, Kel.”
Hero would have recoiled if he were able to at the pure patronisation dripping from his voice. That wasn’t him, they had to know that. That wasn’t him. Hero didn’t know what was going on, but it was awful.
Then, his eyes widened manically, and the grin somehow widened even further.
“Bosses don’t feel emotion!” He heard himself exclaim, a high giggle rising in the back of his throat. This was not good. This was very not good.
“Oh no!” Hero heard Kel cry out. “Hero’s gone mad with power!”
At that, his body did laugh, that strange, unfamiliar chuckle leaving him yet again. “Not quite, Kel. Not quite.”
Now that he could see his siblings’ faces again, Hero looked over each of them frantically. Kel and Aubrey each exchanged a troubled glance, Omori stood firmly between them with narrowed eyes. Why couldn’t things just go nicely for once? Not a single one of their trips so far had ended up in anything less than disaster. Captain Spaceboy’s alter ego coming out, Sweetheart imprisoning them all in her dungeon, the Slime Girls trying to dissect his little brother… Heck, even their initial employment at the Last Resort had wound up with Jawsum refusing to let Hero go, setting Pluto on him in a fight. Hero should’ve expected this sort of thing by now.
“Hey, I’ve got an idea!” His voice said smoothly, far more confident than Hero ever was usually. He sounded suave, commanding, authoritative. The sort of person Hero himself would usually struggle to argue with. “Now that Hero’s the boss, why don’t you all come work for us? Of course, I won’t offer any pay, but I see a great opportunity for growth in the future.”
Hero’s kids ignored the belittling tone to his voice, determination and suspicion crossing their faces. Aubrey crossed her arms. “What do you mean ‘us’?”
“Heh,” a snigger left his lips. “I’ve been looking around in his brain; Hero sure does think you kids are smart. A sharp little girl, aren’t you, Aubrey? That’s an excellent quality in an employee. I’m sure you’d be very useful to the company– these two, however? I’m not quite so sure, no matter what Hero seems to think. It would probably be easier to just get rid of them.”
Panic flooded through him. He needed to get control back, now. He couldn’t let whatever this… Thing was hurt his kids.
“Hey! I’d make a great employee,” Kel huffed, a defensive look clear as day across his face. “Who are you, anyway?!”
“You can call me Bossman,” Hero’s voice told them, and realisation dawned within him. Oh. So that was what the Gator Guy had meant. A sinking feeling began within him. Did… Did Jawsum want this to happen? “It seems Hero’s finally catching on. He’s a little… Indisposed at the moment, you see,” Bossman kept that grin across his face, tapping his forehead. “But I have no doubt that he’ll be a great tool for the business to progress.”
“You leave him alone!” Aubrey cried out, eyebrows turning downwards sharply in anger.
“That would be rather difficult, Aubrey, considering that we now share a brain,” Bossman told her, voice dripping with condescension. Hero’s heart would have leapt if it still responded to him. No. No, this couldn’t be permanent. “As much as it bothers me to admit it, I’m afraid I need him, just as I used to need Jawsum.”
Nothing happened.
Bossman was under his skin, using his body like a puppet. Hero was forced to move along with him, to dance in whatever way the entity desired him to. The feeling was like nothing he'd ever experienced before, invasive and controlling. Hero was completely helpless to stop Bossman doing whatever he wanted.
“So, Aubrey, Omori, Kel ,” Bossman smirked, snapping his fingers. “What’s it to be? Either you work for me…” Gator Guys flooded the room, standing at attention and ready for any command ‘Hero’ was about to give them. “...Or we do things the hard way.”
“I don’t know about you guys, but I’m always up for a challenge!” Kel turned to his friends, and Hero felt a disconcerting rush of affection, pride and anxiety for his little brother. “Let’s do this!”
Aubrey and Omori nodded either side of him, Aubrey setting her jaw as Omori readied his knife. They needed to leave, Hero couldn’t bear it if he hurt them! He had to fight, to force his way back in possession of his own body, as impossible as it seemed. He didn’t so much as know where to start, but that didn’t stop him from trying.
“Disappointing, but not unexpected,” Bossman sighed, sounding completely unbothered as he snapped his fingers again. “I hope you are prepared for defeat.” More and more workers exited the elevator– how they knew Bossman had called was beyond Hero, but there were more important things on his mind. He felt his lips curve upwards into another cruel smile. “Enjoy the show, Hero.”
And they began to fight. Hero willed his body to stop, wished he was able to wrench back control somehow. But his attempts were fruitless, and each snap of his fingers felt like a death sentence, and the Gators just kept coming. Eventually, all three of his kids looked exhausted, on the brink of becoming toast. Hero was their healer. He was supposed to keep them safe. He couldn’t lose them too.
Despite Hero’s pitiful attempts to resist, his fists swung at the trio, growing bruised and bloodied. He could feel everything, from the ache of his cheeks to the unnatural straightness of his spine. Bossman surveyed the damage with a sort of clinical intrigue. “Ah, it is nice to feel properly again. Jawsum was getting far too old, and he was never much to my taste. I much prefer this body.”
As was inevitable, Aubrey, Kel and Omori were defeated, three pieces of toast falling to the floor. Hero felt hatred and horror swell inside of him like a crashing crescendo, both at himself and Bossman. He’d done that to them. His fingers, his contracts, his fists. His kids were toast, and it was his fault. He should have fought harder.
“Leave, all of you. And throw that toast out. I have no need for useless materials,” Bossman ordered coldly, and even more fear flooded through Hero. Bossman rolled his eyes once all the Gators were gone, observing his nails as he sat down at the desk and pulled a mirror from one drawer. “You are far more soft-hearted than anyone I have inhabited before, Hero,” Bossman said disdainfully. “Not a proper trait of a businessman in the slightest. Oh sure, you have the skill, but I have the confidence. Don’t worry, Hero, I’ll take care of everything,” Bossman purred, staring into the mirror nastily as he surveyed his new face, running a pale finger down Hero’s jawline, tilting his head this way and that. “As pathetic as you are, you do have a pretty face. That will be useful when attracting investors; things go far more smoothly when they feel they are talking to someone they can trust, and who is more trustworthy than a naive child in a boss’ suit?” Bossman snickered. “Heh. This is for the best.”
Fury boiled within him. Hero was a person, his kids were people! They didn’t deserve to be treated this way! Besides, he’d just gotten Basil back. He couldn’t lose everyone. He couldn’t.
“A people pleaser, hm? Not generally a trait of a businessman, but I cannot deny that Jawsum was right in seeing something in you. Of course, I care not about others in the slightest, and I am a far superior boss than you will ever be because of that. People are a hindrance,” Bossman looked over at the photo of Hero and Jawsum that the alligator had kept on his desk. “We do not need Kel, or Aubrey, or Omori, or Basil, or Mari, or any other irrelevant relation you had before. They are useless to me, and that makes them useless to you too, Hero. I doubt it will take you long to understand the rules: you seem easy enough to mould.”
Bossman scoffed at that. Hero got the strong feeling that Bossman hated him. It was a good thing that loathing was entirely requited.
“You’re so weak. Pathetic,” Bossman repeated disapprovingly. “Far too soft, and agreeable. From looking over your past encounters with Duchess Sweetheart alone, it is easy to tell that you cannot adequately handle yourself. Now that we are sharing a body, that simply will not do. I will not permit anyone touching you. To touch you is to touch me, and I despise that almost as much as I despise you. You are the very antithesis of myself, Hero. Compassionate, sweet, neighbourly, sensitive…” Bossman listed mockingly. “Ridiculous. Bosses do not feel anything as frivolous as emotion.”
‘What do you mean, “sharing a body”?’ Hero queried cautiously within his own head. Did he still have some semblance of control? He really hoped so. Then, he could save his siblings!
“Ah-ah-ah, slow down, Hero. We may be sharing a body, but I rule it,” Bossman said spitefully. “You are my subordinate. You are expected to act as such. I will do what I wish, and letting you have a brief bit of freedom is lenient of me. I am far superior to someone like you, and you are fully aware of that. There will be no attempts at resisting, or rescue, or any form of fighting. You are good at following orders, so that is what you will do.”
Hero didn’t respond, mind whirring away in search of a loophole, some sort of an escape. He couldn’t let this happen, he refused. The images of his kids’ scared, battered faces flickered through his mind. He wouldn’t fail them again. He had to resist. An amused smile quirked up Bossman’s lips. “I have a feeling that this is the start of an excellent partnership, Hero.”

I got bored so I made some MvA parenting HCs
Susan
Her kids are probably named after their grandparents and/or great-grandparents
From day one, her lock screen and home screen on her computer, tablet, phone, etc. are pictures of her kids
The best monster with babies
Does her best to be really gentle, considering her size and strength
Holds her kids when they cry (no matter how old they are) and puts together/orders their favorite snack if they had a bad day
The type of mom who lets her kids' artwork cover the fridge doors and later keeps them in a box in her storage space for all eternity and only throws away stuff like any food crafts that started growing mold
Lots. And lots. And lots. And lots of pictures and videos
Bedtime stories every night, no matter how she feels. And almost always from a book
If she has daughter, she LOVES styling their hair: pigtails, curlers (for stuff like Christmas pictures), hair clips, you name it
As a former fashionista, she loves coordinating her kids' outfits. But if they don't want to wear matching outfits, she'll respect that
Watches a movie first to see if there's anything she thinks is inappropriate and keeps her own streaming accounts under lock and key (albeit digitally). She wants to protect her kids' innocence while she still can
Handling the other monsters in occasions like their two visits to Modesto (in the movie & Halloween special) gave her plenty of practice for handling problematic kids
The teen years are hard because she's learning to give her kids some sense of independence and just the fact that they're growing up, as much as she always wants to be there for them. Just wait until they graduate high school and leave for college
B.O.B.
Everyone knows he means well but they know better than to leave him alone with a child. It'd be no better than leaving a toddler alone with an actual baby
Has a baby doll or animal plushie instead and takes VERY good care of it...until he gets distracted
So yeah, no different from a three-year-old with a baby doll
Link
More comfortable being the uncle type than a dad
The awkward but fun uncle who lets his nieces/nephews do a lot of the things their parents wouldn't allow like staying up past their bedtime, wrestling, driving his jeep before the legal age, having Twinkies and root beer for breakfast, etc.
He goes into a mild panic when he loses sight of them
He tells the kids embarrassing stories about their parents in their younger years
He'd also teach them "valuable life lessons" like how to give someone a wedgie or actually legit stuff like "follow your heart but for Pete's sake take your brain with you"
Ok, now to the parent part!
NOT fond at all of late nights or early mornings when it comes to babies and kids
Scared to death of holding babies, even if they were his own babies. Like he's gonna accidentally break them or something. Also he's also very uneasy when a baby cries in a close proximity, like he has no idea what to do, like how do you make it stop?
You know what? Be a dear and don't leave him alone with anyone under the age of two, just to save his poor nerves
Rarely calls his kids by their names. He calls them nicknames like kid, squirt, slugger, champ, etc.
Likes to roughhouse with his kids but has to remember not to be too rough. Lets them win in a wrestling match and then denies his defeat, playfully of course
Lots of beach trips and trips to anywhere without cold water. Those kids will learn how to swim before they learn to walk
Lets them turn up the volume on any music. Anything except classical, traditional country/bluegrass, 2000s-early 2010s boy bands, or anything that gets easily gets stuck in your head ("Let It Go" was the worst 3½ minutes of every day for at least 1-2 years)
Mess with his kid(s), and he'll knock you into next week
He would rather have his kids go after sports and athletics than chess, spelling bees, or piano lessons. He says, "how are those gonna prepare them for the future?"
Handles teenagers better than the other monsters. He's a cool dad
Graduations and sports games/competitions? Proudest papa there ever was
Dr C
We already got to see a bit of dadroach in the TV series, but let's add some more, shall we?
Measures their height and the circumference of their heads on a regular basis as they grow up, a nod to Marie Curie and her 2 daughters
Helps out with their homework, that's a no brainer [TV show h/c: Smarty is strictly forbidden to help, as much as he and the kids might try]
Sets curfews, limits their amount of screen time and junk food, works out a nutritious balanced meal plan complete with daily vitamins
Wants everything, from media to pastimes to outings, to be educational and intellectually stimulating but enjoyable, which he has to work on the latter
Posh and elegant upbringing. Girls are brought up as fine ladies and boys as refined gentlemen. Not that they can't be rambunctious or play tough sports or anything, but they're brought up to not slouch or put their elbows on the dining table
In the meantime, he has to try to remember to not be an overly practical parent. As Link says, "Doc, you gotta let a few of their brain cells rot every now and then"
Reads books on child psychology every night, albeit when everyone else is asleep. He's quite thankful for these
Nobody's allowed in his lab [area], not until they're in high school. Though one time 1-2 of the kids snuck into the lab when he was away. He found out about this later; he didn't say or do anything, no grounding or lectures or anything, but he installed security cameras around the area with a big warning note on the entry way
Has a really hard time with teenagers, probably the hardest time out of all the monsters or Monger
Embarrasses his teenage kid(s) to no end. Most of the time he doesn't mean to. The lame "dad" jokes (like "cat's me-wow") and the maniacal laughter are always gonna be the death of them
Graduations? He wants his kids to go on and succeed in colleges and universities but he has had to learn and accept the fact that it won't be the end of the world if they pursue something else besides a degree
(Criminelly! I really need to relearn to draw this guy again!)
Insecto
Two words: Mama Bear
Makes this soft purring sound as a means of comforting
Monger
It's kind of a sick idea to make a 90 y.o. man a father to children, so let's time travel to the 1940s-60s
His kids are early risers, no sleeping in
They wake up every morning to that same bugle wake-up tune from the military
Instills patriotism into them. They stand for the national anthem with their hands over their hearts, know the pledge of allegiance, etc.
Nobody gives an evil eye like Papa Monger
They eat whatever's set in front of them at the table. No ifs, ands, or buts
The upbringing and memories of his Mama Monger are his bible
The only lazy days are Sundays. He holds that old school/southern regard that Sundays are different from the other days of the week (he's not religious btw)
If he has daughters, they're going to get their hands dirty. No sense in get a manicure hours before working in a barn, so prettying up is for special occasions only
His sons are manly men and are taught how to treat a lady
After-school activities other than homework include helping out at the farm and extra PE
Thinks public school PE is inadequate and "for sissies". His kids might as well train for the army or a post-apocalyptic world: chin-up bars, rope climbing, the mother of hopscotch, target practice, survival skills, even parkour, etc.
Takes them camping every summer, and we're talking tents, campfires, etc. No glamping, let alone any electricity (except for flashlights)
The only pets allowed are herding dogs (collies, shepherds, heelers, etc.). They're not just pets; they're working dogs for the farm too. They get to sleep on the front porch, much to the kids' chagrin
Believe it or not, he gets pretty uneasy when it comes to a girl's time of the month. He hides it pretty well though. Shopping for female sanitary items and any food cravings is one of his worst nightmares
Probably the most intimidating dad to meet if someone wanted to date his daughter(s)
Nobody's allowed to use his jetpacks, though he does want to teach his kids how to use a parachute. They'll get one of their own when they turn 18 or 21
On their graduation or wedding day? so proud that he could cry...if he hadn't lost his tear ducts in the war
Invisible Man [my h/c is that he had 3 kids, so let's go!]
Was pretty stinkin excited and nervous about being a dad. He fell in love with it all on the day his eldest was born
His eldest, a boy, is an almost literal clone of him, minus the invisibility of course
The favorite parent hands-down
Waited until his kids grew up a little to take them on road trips or any special vacations because he wanted them to remember those experiences for themselves. "You can't take a six-month-old to the Grand Canyon." He told his wife. "They'll never remember it!"
The type of dad that hugs his kids and picks them up when he gets home from work
Best piggyback rides in the world
Didn't mind it one bit when he carried his sleeping kids to bed, even if they pretended to be asleep
Bedtime stories every night to the best of his ability. Most of the time, he'd ditch the books and create his own stories
The one way his kids could REALLY make him mad was by disrespecting their mom in any way, shape, or form
The warmest his heart had ever been was when one of his sons told him, "I wanna be just like you, daddy". That man was over the moon for quite some time

“I am Waale’jah of the Ener’jaka, and I will never back down!”
-
new league oc because i was like ‘mannnn amani’s just an arcane oc, what if we make a fun little overpowered top laner’ and then waale’jah was born during my walk back from class the other day lol.
this is is obviously just concept art, looking at it less than 10 hours later i’m not incredibly pleased by it now but it’s the first digital work i’ve done in a minute, so i’m ok with it.
other fun stuff below the cut but otherwise like + reblog if you like it <3
- waale’jah is possibly an aspect host? but it’s more likely she was chosen by her people’s light goddess — najeleh, and given celestial powers that way. no one knows if najeleh (pronounced nah’jay’lay’) is an aspect of light, while her opponent sha’jaka is an aspect of darkness.
- najeleh has not chosen a champion in some time though, since being defeated after her reign over the ener’jaka many centuries ago. tl;dr the ener’jaka empire needs both light and darkness, not only one. but najeleh and sha’jaka have been in constant turmoil, and when najeleh won, the ener’jaka were blessed with immortality and wanted for nothing — but they could never die, never reproduce, and never leave their land. when sha’jaka defeated her in a moment of weakness, he plunged their lands into darkness, a plague spreading among their people that reduced their immortality down to quick healing, but often killed off their young and left many to die when they left ener’jaka lands.
- waale’jah however was selected by najeleh at birth, like many of her chosen in the centuries since she was defeated. she can still influence life on runeterra, and her chosen are marked by golden irises and strong minds and bodies. this doesnt mean they stay her chosen however, because at 20 years of age they are tested in ritual for their spirits, minds and bodies. not everyone comes out alive, and waale’jah is the first in over a 100 years to both be chosen and pass her trial.
- she is imbued with najeleh’s latent abilities, making her stronger, faster and close to immortal in terms of healing. she is to represent her goddess in the fight against sha’jaka, and is sent out into runeterra to find allies against him in their celestial war. more chosen by their aspects to put the ener’jaka back into balance.
- and thats why she joins the rift. currently she’s looking for leona (the closest to najeleh’s power as an aspect of daylight/sun), and afterwards diana (closest to sha’jaka’s power as an aspect of the moon). likely this follows as she tries to find aurelion sol, anyone who’s willing to follow her into the spirit plane to push sha’jaka back into his rightful role.
- other notable ments:
- meets sett in navori during her travels, goes toe to toe with him. loses, but they become friends.
- meets taliyah, k’sante and nasus at one point. while the ener’jaka have long been hidden, they were never far from shurima.
- considering their spiritual connection, goes to ionia for help in her celestial war, finds theyre at war with noxus currently. meets karma though, and karma shares her wisdom with her.
- met pantheon during her travels. curious about his aspect connection.
- is a top/tank support champ. can build mostly ap in the latter, but preferably ad in the former. her abilities allow her to dive and keep people on her rather easily, chipping away health through leaps or throw her auto attacks that are imbued with the strength of najeleh.
- (the ap version of malphite because the more mr she stacks the more damage she does)

'Bringing the energy': How Scott Moir is moulding the next generation of ice dancers
Scott Moir hasn't lost his edge.
January 10, 2023
Former Olympic dance figure skater Scott Moir, one half of the gold medal team of Virtue and Moir, now coaches teams from the U.S., Mexico and Canada. Moir works with Canadian ice dancers Jacob Portz and Alyssa Robinson as they practise at the Komoka Wellness Centre west of London on Friday Jan. 6, 2023. (Mike Hensen/The London Free Press)
“We're going to kick Charlie's ass,” Moir, 35, quipped during a lively training session last week at Komoka Wellness Centre. “Quote that one.”
The one-liners, verbal jabs, laughs and hockey talk is so familiar to anyone who closely followed Moir’s career with his longtime partner, Tessa Virtue of Ilderton, to Olympic gold and the top of the skating world.
Later this month, the ice dance superstar-turned-coach will be in San Jose, Calif., to support one of his promising teams – Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko – at the U.S. national championships.
In the fall, he bet Ponomarenko, a die-hard San Jose Sharks fan, the Maple Leafs would beat them. When Toronto didn’t, Moir wore one of Sharks captain Logan Couture’s jerseys on the ice, then handed it over to his student.
“He loved that,” said the head coach and managing director of the Ice Academy of Montreal’s Ontario campus.

This week, Moir will wear out a path to the Kiss and Cry area at the Canadian figure skating championships in Oshawa. His local crew is looking to take big steps after some international success.
Londoners Lily Hensen and Nathan Lickers aim to crack the Top 5 in the senior ranks while Ridgetown’s Alyssa Robinson and Calgary’s Jake Portz have that potential, too. Haley Sales and Nikolas Wamsteeker, who relocated from B.C., hope to grab a podium spot.
Kilworth’s Jordyn Lewis and Ilderton’s Noah McMillan want to earn a junior worlds berth and former novice champs Layla Veillon and Alex Brandys, both Londoners, are taking the next step up the ladder. Lewis and Veillon are also on the Ice Ignite synchro team seeking a junior worlds spot.
Internationally, Leia Dozzi and Pietro Papetti skate for Italy and Samantha Ritter and Daniel Brykalov represent Azerbaijan.
Senior ice dancers Nathan Lickers and Lily Hensen of London work on their routines under the guidance of Olympic champion Scott Moir and his mom, Alma Moir, at Komoka Wellness Centre Friday, Jan. 6, 2023. (Mike Hensen/The London Free Press)
“The project here is to create two equal schools,” Moir said. “Montreal is, by far, the most dominant in the world. At the last Olympics, they had 10 of the last 20 skaters (in ice dance). That’s a lot. It’s a big ask, but I think it’s possible now.”
Moir studied the Montreal way when he and Tessa Virtue moved there for their dominant run to the 2018 Olympic title. They worked under old friends Marie-France Dubreuil and Patrice Lauzon, then Moir brought the spirit of camaraderie and friendly, in-house competition back home.
“The kids have to create the atmosphere they want,” he said. “They cheer each other on. Even though a lot of them will go and be on the competition ice with each other, I learned the real magic is if you have each other’s back. There’s a balance to be struck.
“We (Moir and Virtue) didn’t have the same in Canton (Mich.),” he added. “We had it early when Charlie and I were really firing in 2010. I wasn’t the most mature young man in 2014, so I didn’t use that environment to my advantage. But we doubled down on it in 2018 (alongside the French team of Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron) and it was to our advantage, for sure.”
Former Olympic ice dancer Scott Moir now has a thriving business coaching teams from the U.S., Mexico and Canada. Moir skates past his mom, and fellow coach, Alma Moir, at Komoka Wellness Centre on Friday Jan. 6, 2023. (Mike Hensen/The London Free Press)
LENDING A HAND: Moir grew up surrounded by figure skating coaches. That family connection remains at the academy. His mother Alma, aunt Carol and cousins Sheri and Cara are part of the staff.
“It’s fun – it’s kind of hard to call him my boss now, though,” Alma joked. “He stresses a positive attitude to the coaches and an old (veteran) here sometimes, I have to do a check on how positive I am some days. It took a while for the kids to feed into it, but you could see the energy change from the summer to now.”
Moir has some non-family help, too, in Justin Trojek and soon-to-be-married Madison Hubbell and Adrian Diaz, a Spanish ice dancer. Hubbell, who finished third at the last Olympics with Zachary Donohue, called her immediate jump from athlete to full-time coach a rare transition.
“It was really after meeting Adrian and seeing his love of skating and different perspective that I started enjoying analyzing skating together,” the 31-year-old from Michigan said.
“When we trained together (in Montreal), one of my favourite things was Scott’s energy – whether it was doing back-and-forth cardio or competing on a daily basis. It can feel like a very solo sport and Scott made a point of including you and cheering you on with a compliment or kind word. He’s a big instigator in what I would consider more of a hockey mentality: rowdy, yelling and having fun.”
MOVING FORWARD: Moir, who’s married and has a two-year-old daughter, recently congratulated Virtue on her engagement to Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Morgan Rielly. Once in a while, he admits he will press her for some inside info on his favourite team.
His skaters want to hear stories about Virtue, too.
“I looked up to Tessa so much and still do every day,” said Carreira, 22. “She came to the rink once and it was literally the best day. Getting to train with Scott Moir every day is a privilege. I grew up in Montreal and they were my heroes.”
Moir believes the much-loved on-ice connection he shared with Virtue can be taught technically, but he has no interest in churning out mere carbon copies.
“These athletes aren’t going to be able to be Tessa and Scott, because in four, eight and 12 years, Tessa and Scott aren’t going to be good enough,” he said. “They already aren’t. We wouldn’t have won the last Olympics. The sport is evolving, the skaters will and I have to, as well. It’s about making it their own. Everyone has a different look and story.”
Former Olympic dance figure skater Scott Moir coaches American skaters Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko on Friday, Jan. 6, 2023. (Mike Hensen/The London Free Press)
Carreira and Ponomarenko, whose parents Marina and Sergei won 1992 Olympic ice dance gold, are developing that mature skating connection that served Virtue and Moir so well. But Moir isn’t designing similar programs for Veillon, 16, and Brandys, 17.
“You can’t coach two athletes the same way and you motivate the man and woman different,” Moir said. “That’s the fun of coaching. I don’t come here to walk down memory lane. I come here to learn, too. How can I teach this kid a counter even though I was a good counter turner? Now, I need to figure out a different way. It’s a challenge and my coaching staff challenges me. Hopefully, this momentum turns into a snowball and keeps rolling.”
The bond is already encouraging.
“Even though I’m one of the youngest, you completely forget an age gap,” Veillon said. “You get to come to the rink every day and skate with some of your closest friends. The coaches are amazing, they want the best for us and we have such a fun time.”
ONE-ON-ON WITH COACH SCOTT MOIR

Has your approach to the sport changed since on-ice retirement?
“I was much more performance and result-based. I wanted to win. I studied the points and what needed to be better to be on top. My experience with Tessa, as a coach, showed me if I strategize properly, it can work. I was a little riskier as an athlete, because it’s you out there. You’re the one who puts your heart and soul into it. Now, I feel I owe it to the kids. You feel responsible, but you still have to be a little dangerous. That edge is what gives us an advantage. The goal is not personal-best skates alone. It’s taking advantage of your opportunity. Go for it and take the lessons of being able to perform in front of people, because you have to really bring it on this stage.”
What’s the goal of the Ice Academy of Montreal’s Ontario campus?
“To make great people. It sounds so stupid, but we believe success is a byproduct. You’re a good person first, support your teammates, demand the best of yourself, never stop wanting to grow and be ready to learn. It’s not a trade-off. I used to think you can drink the Kool-Aid and be your best self, but I wanted to win. Patrice, Marie-France and Romain (Haguenauer) showed me it all goes hand-in-hand. We’re an elite school and we want to be on top of the world. As we develop these kids and these skills that will serve them well in life, we want to become excellent athletes able to stand on top of podiums. We don’t have a ton of great skating schools in Canada and our success doesn’t mean we can’t have great schools in Scarborough, Vancouver and Calgary. We’re the most dominant skating country with the most rinks. I hope we can get the footprint a little bigger so we can affect more athletes. Hopefully, we can compete against our Montreal teammates and push their boundaries, too.”
How can you affect the skating experience for your students beyond the technical elements?
“I had success in my career, but I got bogged down in the negatives over many years. Who knows if we would’ve beaten Marilyn (Davis) and Charlie, but I think my outlook on skating kept me from being my best self leading up to 2014 (silver medal in Sochi). I’d love for the kids to hear my wisdom and not have to go through the black period I did. At the same time, it’s their journey and they need to have their own path. I can have a direct impact on the negative parts of the sport that don’t need to exist. There are parts of the sport people may think of as ugly or the judging, but being able to be happy about yourself no matter what people think can be a positive. In this age of social media and all that s—, it’s important. Even before the scores, are you personally happy? Did you give everything you had? I’m hoping to prepare for them to deal with those issues the right way.”
How do you impact a generation of skaters who didn’t face the same challenges you did?
“They motivate very differently. It’s tricky for me. I grew up in the other one. My dad was fair and hard on me. If I deserved it, I got it and I deserved it a lot. He didn’t baby me and I thrived. I have fantastic parents. I had some coaches that were a little harder on me and when you go through the Russian schools, of course, that’s the way it is. I loved it. There were also dark parts it created that I also had to deal with later in life. I think there’s a way to expect the most out of these kids and have them expect it, but through love and support. There’s a balance. You can be critical and deliver the message the right way. This generation motivates from exciting things. You’ve got to keep it fresh and keep them rolling and feeling good. My first couple of years, I got bogged down in hammering on them, because I like being in the trenches. The kids felt it was super heavy and it didn’t work. I started being more positive and bringing the energy every day and you see them lift up with results much better. We’re trending that way and it’s natural for me, too.”
Are you able to watch old videos of you and Tessa Virtue skating without finding every little fault in it?
“My perspective of our career is probably the most jaded. You can’t really watch yourself without it. Watching it is getting better and better, actually. You forget the cues you’re supposed to be doing and I’m able to just watch Tessa much more than what I’m doing wrong, so that’s enjoyable. I watch it with a different eye now that I coach. I was very critical and it wasn’t fun to watch tape before, but it’s getting better. I think for the sake of ice dance – and I think that’s why 2018 was such a success for us – the sport evolved. We came back, dove in, pushed ourselves and were able to come away with Olympic gold again. It would be foolish for me to step in and say if I can create 10 Scott Moirs, we’re going to be successful. I don’t believe that.”

Tatsuro Taira stops Carlos Hernandez in the 2nd with GnP!
An all around dominant performance from Taira. Managed to turn Hernandez pressing him into the cage in the 1st round into a slick takedown. Was doing some good work from top. Hunting for the RNC, landing elbows from half guard +gnp from mount.
We didn't see much of Taira on the feet. But he did score the big knockdown down that led to the finish. A right hand down the pipe stuns Hernandez. He floors Hernandez with another follow up right hand + left hook and he follows up with GnP to get the finish of the fight.
Taira calls out Mokaev which I'd be fine with. Have to imagine Mokaev will want a higher ranked opponent. Personally, would be fine with anyone in the top 10-15 range for him. He's gotten the slow build but I think if he's going to improve it's time for him to start fighting ranked opponents. 5-0 in the UFC. One of the rare former Japanese champs that didn't get baptized by fire with the matchmaking.

COLLISION 14/10/23
Setting foundations
Collision opens with Adam Copeland who is here to address Christian's comments. Before the Rated R Superstar can speak, security make their way to the ring followed by Christian Cage. There is one enhanced talent in a brown suit. He looked important but didn't do anything noteworthy. Christian is still the best heel as he continues to be a real bastard. Bryan Danielson, Big Bill, Ricky Starks and the former champs, FTR come to the ring as everyone is ready to brawl. Starks and Adam take some fun shots at each other while Danielson demands the match for the TNT Championship right now. Of course, that doesn't happen because wrestlers should not have the power to demand such things. This was a criticism I had with Smackdown this past week. The commentators inform us that the main event will remain the main event. This was an enjoyable segment as it featured some of AEW top stars
SEQUE!!!
Due to the Israel-Hamas war there was some controversy last week when Juice Robinson threatened to hit MJF with a roll of quarters. I didn’t find this segment to be offensive. MJF being pelted with quarters has been a part of this character’s history. I merely saw this as Robinson taking a shot at a weak point in Max's life. Wrestling is also art, and art always reflects the climate we're in. AEW addressed this controversial segment where MJF and other leaders in sport met up to send a positive message regarding antisemitism. This showcased the real side of Max which was refreshing to see during this babyface run.
Samoa Joe defended his TV title against Willie Mack. I have no idea who Willie Mack is, but I liked what I saw. The match up was great as Joe and Mack are similar in size. At one point Mack leaped over the top rope and almost took out the announce table. Willie also gave us the unforgiving nipple twisters. There was also a point where Joe powerslammed Mack and it looked real rough. This was a bout worth checking out.
CJ Perry is backstage once again. She makes it clear she wants to manage. Action Andretti steps up and requests Perry's services. Perry doesn’t say yes or no, but giggles after he leaves. The excitement she emoted is that of a schoolgirl who finds out her crush likes her back. Later, Miro appears as he tosses Andretti's corpse to the side. He says, "I am willing to destroy every man to protect the one woman." which is weird. Didn't he want nothing to do with CJ? But at the same time, he doesn't want her to manage anyone. I find the whole thing strange, but it will be interesting to see who she lands with.
The Fallen Angel makes an appearance in gods knows how long. Man, I remember when he was featured with Kazarian and Scorpio Sky during the early days of AEW…any who, he is up against Juice Robinson. It was an okay match that added more heat onto Juice who promises to win the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royale so he can face MJF and take the ring. There was a mention of the man in the devil mask but no follow up from the people who attacked Jay yet.
Skye Blue is now a heel since she’s been sprayed by mist from Julia Hart. Blue took on Kris Statlander is a decent match. I’m always impressed by Statlander's strength. Of course, the TBS champion would retain, but I think it was important that Blue gets some character progression and there seems to be more to the story as Willow Nightingale came to the ring post-match to care of Blue as she told Statlander to leave.
Another good match was the Bryan Danielson versus Christian Cage for the TNT Championship in what felt like a real main event match. Danielson stretched Christian in horrific ways while the champ worked on Bryan's right arm. Ultimately Christian retained due to Big Bill and Ricky Starks getting involved. Also, due to the injured right arm, the LeBell Lock could not be used to its full effect.
There was so much going on in this show that I don’t have time to reflect on, but a lot of it was to build storylines. AEW needed to rework its foundation and start to mould it's show in a clear direction. It's just a matter of sticking with what they are presenting and follow through.
