roomie's been watching below deck so.... au time?

the 118 as a yacht crew. bobby is the captain obviously. hen's the first mate (google tells me this is called officer of the watch? first officer? idk she's second in command) with eddie and ravi as deckhands. chim is usually chief steward, maddie is usually the stewardess. buck just took over as chef.

but chim and maddie just got married and are taking off for their honeymoon, so bobby's called in a favour and brought in tommy and lucy to fill in as stewards (maybe he and lucy run a plane tour thing but this is the off season so they were happy to fill in for the extra cash)

bobby, hen, and chim have all worked with tommy before he moved on to whatever it is he and lucy do. the way they talk about him they obviously like and respect him, but they make him sound like a total hardass, super dedicated. so buck is expecting a dude like, older than bobby, maybe, some grizzled no-nonsense old man who takes no shit and runs a tight ship.

and then the person who shows up is, well, tommy. of course he's amazing at his job and a stickler for the rules (when he wants to be, anyway...) but he's also far younger than buck was expecting and really funny and sarcastic in a way he can appreciate.

they have a charter and it goes pretty smoothly, they get along alright for the most part but tommy seems to be focusing on buck, actively looking for things he's doing wrong. in his mind he's trying to help, he knows bobby loves this kid and it's his first time running the kitchen on his own so if he can point out things to fix, why shouldn't he help the kid improve? but he never actually says that that's why he's doing it, so on buck's end he just kinda feels picked on and it stings a little. tommy gets on super well with hen and bobby, he even bonded pretty quickly with eddie, and obviously he and lucy are a tight little team, so buck feels like the odd one out, and of course he's not going to examine why he wants tommy's attention on him, right?

but all in all the first charter goes smoothly. the second is where things get dicey. it's a bunch of older women who basically just want to drink and dance for four days without their husbands and kids and they are all obsessed with the men on board. they love bobby, but he of course spends most of his time captain-ing, so eddie and tommy get the brunt of it just because they are the most available. they make requests like wanting them to serve dinner shirtless and stuff which bobby draws a hard line on.

but there's one woman in particular who really takes a shine to buck. any time she can corner him, she does, asking him questions and making special requests and just generally being a nuisance. he's not a fan of the attention especially since he's feeling under a microscope with tommy but she's a guest so he's as polite as he can be while focusing on his job.

maybe she corners him one night, super drunk from dinner, trying to kiss him. buck got in shit for having a little fling with a passenger once before, so when tommy comes in and sees what's going on, he's sure he's getting fired, even though he's trying his hardest to get her off of him without hurting her. but tommy surprises him: instead of buck getting in trouble, he's telling her to get away from him and get out, and that he's going to tell bobby she's harassing the crew, and she better go sleep it off because she'll be off the ship in the morning.

to buck's surprise, she listens, and then tommy's checking on him, making sure he's okay, and buck is like what the fuck? i thought you didn't like me? and tommy's just blinking at him like of course i like you?? i've been trying to bond with you and give you advice???

they talk more over the next couple days—the woman does indeed get kicked off, and the other guests tip them very well because they feel guilty—and when the guests leave and they're let loose on shore for a night, they basically ignore the rest of the crew and flirt outrageously. lucy, eddie, and hen have a little betting pool going on over who's going to break first but they disappear in the blink of an eye so nobody sees who makes the first move.

the next morning they proudly stumble out of tommy's room together and they're pretty much inseparable for the rest of tommy's time on board.

There are not many times in which you find yourself busy and Austin stays home for the day to watch Luci. It’s a balance and trade off, for sure, but you’re a writer—there’s less chances for you to have to go in to work unless it’s table reads or drama. You like to be on set but are less needed when it comes to producers and directors, and you’re completely okay with that. It allows you to be home and present in your passion all at the same time.

You just feel lucky for the most part that you and Austin aren’t working on projects simultaneously. Don’t get it wrong, you do love that this whole writing thing has worked out for you. It’s just…with today, the only thing you hate is that you’re missing is that Austin is taking Luci to the zoo.

To be clear, you don’t exactly blame this decision—you and Austin had been planning on taking Luci there for a while now, she’s been learning all these animal names and noises and is super excited at treating the entire trip like a safari of some kind. When you get called in to work unexpectedly, you’re not about to ruin that trip for Luci even though Austin offers to go another day.

It's fine, there will be other zoo trips for sure, and besides,

“Work will definitely go a lot smoother if I got cute videos to look at while dealing with actors and script changes. I’ll be in a zoo of my own making.”

Austin smiles a little, rubbing the back of his neck, “Just doesn’t seem fair to you.”

You hum lightly, moving to place yourself on his lap as he sits on the couch, wrapping your arms around his shoulders, “What’s not fair is canceling this trip on Luci because I have to work.” You smile down at him as his hands slide up and down your thighs, “Besides, she’ll have more fun with you anyways.”

Austin rolls his eyes, squeezing your hips, “Don’t even say that.”

Smirking, you lean down to press your foreheads together briefly, “I might be able to show up for the tail-end if I get everything in order. Something to look forward to.”

You can tell Austin isn’t one hundred percent satisfied with that answer but because you’re willing to do it that way? He sighs and nods, hooking his finger underneath your chin to draw you into a kiss.

It’s not that Austin doesn’t think the whole zoo trip isn’t going to be a great day, he knows it will be (and it is), it’d just be more complete with you there. He sends copious amounts of videos to you as he and Luci make way through the zoo, pausing at different enclosures. He’s only recognized a handful of times by fans and all the interactions are decent, respectful of his space with his daughter. And his most entertaining reaction is someone asking ‘Is Y/N here too?’. He says no but snaps a selfie with them to text you,

Austin: got fans askin’ about you Y/N: priorities :)

Luci does a lot of investigative adventures with every animal she visits, so ready to ask questions and copy their sounds as much as she can. Very entertaining—he’s got an entire album collection of it at this point.

Right before the aquarium part of the zoo, Austin carries Luci into a gift shop on his shoulders so she can take a look around. Her arms are kinda tight around his neck every so often, but he doesn’t mind, holding her by the shins as she leans one way or another to point out stuffed animals to him.

“I think we should get mom somethin’.” He picks her up off his shoulders and holds her against his chest, her legs wrapping around his upper torso. “What do you think?”

Luci grins, that big cheesy one that always makes him chuckle, “Yessss.”

“Alright,” He presses a kiss to her cheek, “Which one?”

He picks up a few animals as they walk—a cow, a seal, a lion, Luci seems to love them all, but she doesn’t settle on any of them. Not until he picks up a panda, however, that one she reaches for instantly, squeezing it to her chest. He smirks, playfully tugging one of her pigtails that she has in because he’s gonna need that to check-out.

As they head out of the gift shop, if Austin had to guesstimate, Luci’s got about another good hour in her before she starts needing a nap—he hopes you’ll be able to make it before then.

You don’t exactly rush your time on set, but you’d be lying if you weren’t paying attention to the hours and minutes creeping by. You give yourself a limit in order to work everything out between directors and actors, knowing exactly when you should leave. It’ll be fine, you know it, and they can always call you back tomorrow. At the end of the day, it’s for the people on set to figure out—you can only give so much guidance.

The last series of texts and videos that you got from Austin were right outside the aquarium and you hope aren’t too late. While you love the updates? It’s nothing compared to seeing it in person.

Making your way to the zoo, you quickly park once you get there, paying for a ticket and making a b-line for the aquarium. Running a hand through your hair, you take a look around, everything covered in a soft blue light from the reflection of windows and water—has to be one of your favorite places to visit. When you were in high school, you wanted to work in an aquarium, become a marine biologist or something. God, if younger you could see you now.

You smile a little, rounding a corner and walking up a ramp, knowing the best way to do this is to start from top to bottom (best way to view the aquarium in your opinion). You’re about to text Austin when you turn a corner and see them, pausing to observe. Austin looks utterly beautiful underneath the soft blue waves of light, his eyes even a crisper shade than usual because of it. He’s standing against one of the glass windows with Luci in his arms, watching as she points out fish that swim by.

He grabs one of her hands at one point, kisses her knuckles, and then lets her go—talking with her about jellyfish, manta rays and sharks alike.

You swear your heart swells twice its normal size.

Austin turns a little to look behind him, mostly at the people who move past, but his gaze flutters up and he notices you. Always has been able to find you in a crowd. He smiles a little, offering a small wave even though Luci hasn’t seen you yet. He leans down and whispers in her ear and Luci brightens as she quickly turns around, squiggling to be put on the ground.

You can’t help but chuckle as Luci takes off in a sprint when she’s free…and then completely spills out by tripping on the carpet. This is definitely a typical occurrence, still trying to find her sea legs.

“Oh babe,” You say as she gets herself up but starts crying. You know it’s mostly out of shock rather than pain but Austin is quick to scoop her into his arms again as you approach.

“Quite a wipeout.” He says fondly, checking her hands and knees just in case she has any scrapes. Her tears are big and slightly dramatic as they roll down her cheeks, lower lip wobbling as she gulps air, “Hey, hey,” He croons, gently bouncing her against his side, “You’re alright, not a scratch.”

Austin makes a big production of kissing the back of her hands, blowing small raspberries into her forearms until she giggles. He’s really good at that, you realize, making her laugh. It just seems to be Austin; he always knows how to make you feel better too, even without trying very hard.

“There we go,” He smiles a little, “Want to give mama what we got her?”

You raise your eyebrows, “You got me something?” You smooth your hand through one of her pigtails, waiting for Austin to hand her the bag. Luci excitedly reaches inside and tugs out—

You gasp, reaching for it with bright eyes, “Oh my goodness! What is this?”

“A panda!” Luci exclaims, clearly very proud of the purchase. “See? It’s got spots momma.”

You let out a soft laugh because, of course, how could you have not known that? Austin grins and takes the bear for a moment, having it kiss your cheek. And then you can’t help but kiss him—far too quick but just enough. Luci reaches forward, interrupting the closeness between you and your husband, wanting to be held by you.

“Okay,” You laugh, taking her into your arms, “What do you want, troublemaker?”

“Fishies!” Luci declares, pointing over your shoulder, wanting to go see.

“Fishies?” You ask, grinning with a squeeze, looking over at Austin before moving forward, “What about jellies? Seahorses! Sea urchins—see any of those yet?”

Luci shakes her head but she’s definitely ready to explore. You set her on the ground and she takes off running again, eager to accept another adventure despite tumbling a few minutes earlier. You smile, your hand finding Austin’s effortlessly as your other holds onto the stuffed panda.

You’re so happy you didn’t miss this day.

WHAT UP @ohlooksheswriting HAVE AN INDIRECT CONTRIBUTION TO HICCUNZEL MONTH

SO I think my main reservation about shipping romantic Hiccunzel has always been the fact that I stan Hiccanna and Jackunzel so hard, like. I simply cannot look at Rapunzel x Hiccup and NOT go “but what of Jack and Anna??? Are they now fated to not find true love??? They’re gonna be so sad D:”

So the obvious solution all along was to have Hiccup and Rapunzel date Anna, Jack, AND each other, EZ

And HiJack and Annunzel are pretty solid gay ships, so like??? It kinda WORKS???

And thus the RotBTD discord came up with Hijannunzel, which might well be the most blursed ship in existence XD Legit poly ships are too powerful. Once you start shipping them, it’s like “oh, this solves SO many problems??? And also if they all got married and got a tax break they’d be OP as hell??? And having a 3-way support system of awesome people to kiss and cuddle and hang out with would be SICK???”

ANYWAYS! I decided to style this so that I put a thing I think each pair would bond over between their pictures because I think it’d be neat!!!

Rapunzel & Hiccup: Art!!! He sketches, she paints, and they definitely draw each other and nerd out over different art styles together!!! Catch them on an art museum date any day. They’ve also definitely made art of each other, and the rest of the polycule. Rapunzel & Jack: Outdoorsy winter fun!!! Like Rapunzel is literally ALWAYS down for a gigantic, Extra snowball fight and you can’t change my mind. Punz just really likes being outside (I mean, she was locked inside for years, can you blame her???) and appreciates all the seasons, but like...overappreciates winter because she figures it could use the love XD Anna & Jack: Sweets!!! I am 1000% convinced both these kids are sugar junkies. Anna has a preference for chocolate obviously, but Jack will devour anything with a sugar content Tooth would absolutely not approve of. They also both adore hot cocoa, and you can’t change my mind. Anna & Hiccup: Dragons/animals in general!!! Anna’s such an animal whisperer in Frozen 1, like. She gets three ducklings to jump into her hands, befriends Hans’ horse, vents to her own horse, and sees a guy talking to his reindeer like a buddy and just immediately starts doing the same thing. Ain’t no one convincing me Anna wouldn’t think dragons were the coolest shit ever, and she would try to (perhaps unwisely) befriend every single one.

Couldn’t include in this one, BUT ALSO:

Jack & Hiccup: Flying and thrill-seeking!!! Like they both seem to be hardcore adrenaline junkies, if Jack letting the wind blow him around every which way and Hiccup literally inventing a funky winged device so he can fly with Toothless is anything to go by. These two would really love flying and exploring together! The adventures AND the poor decisions would be unparalleled XD Rapunzel & Anna: Flower appreciation!!! They both dun got big springtime vibes, and would probably be constantly picking wildflower bouquets for each other. I feel like they’d get into gardening, and try to befriend all the pollinator bugs--even the scary ones XD Love that they both have floral motifs, and Anna’s is a sunflower while Rapunzel’s is...a literal sun flower XD Also love the idea of them bonding over girly stuff in general, and doing things like dress-shopping and meadow-frolicking together :D

Anyways, they all share an apartment and have movie and video game nights where they all get into a cuddle pile on the couch and it’s wholesome and fantastic. They also like to crash fancy parties paired off and then stage dramatic “reveals” where they get caught cheating on each other and make a whole production out of it, solely to be chaotic. Also to snack on fancy little cheese blocks on toothpicks and crostini. Have a great rest of your night.

the latest and greatest vampire movie had just arrived in theaters, and after seeing it opening night with your besties... well, you were obsessed. however, your boyfriend Eren scoffed at the fact that you were even going to see such a movie. 

“really, y/n?”, he asked as you were facetiming him while you got ready. “the vampire trope is soooo lame. i can’t believe you and your friends are going to see that movie, of all the things in theaters right now.”

“you don’t have to hate on every mainstream thing, Eren!”, you replied, pulling your jeans over your hips. you could see Eren roll his eyes through the tiny screen sitting on your dresser. “i read the books and i loved them!” 

that night when you got home, you didn’t dare text Eren to tell him how hot you thought you the main character was- even if it was because they reminded you of him in some way. you opened your computer to your tumblr dashboard, clicking the human icon at the top and then the plus sign, add new blog.

you carefully curated a selection of photos, fanart, writings, videos, and other fanshares to display on your newly created blog, spending the night scouring the site for the best blogs of other people fawning over the new release. 

a few weeks after the release, you were still spending every evening you had alone browsing and sharing your newest interest online. you would die of utter embarrassment if Eren knew. you always made sure to close the tab before you went to bed.

you had invited Eren over just to hang out and be lazy one afternoon, with netflix playing on the tv and you on your computer searching for a deal on a book you wanted. 

“can i use your laptop for a minute to look at my email?”, Eren asked.

“sure, i needed to go to the bathroom anyway.”, you replied, handing him your computer before getting up. 

as Eren started to type in the address he was looking for, something popped up in the search bar, from history. it was a tumblr blog with a peculiar name. out of curiosity, he clicked on it. and there it was, your blog already logged in and everything. he scrolled through your dashboard, harboring a feeling somewhat of disgust and somewhat of amusement at the smutty stories written about the movie characters appearing on the screen. even just grazing over them, he could see how raunchy they were. does she really fantasize about vampires??, he thought. but then, another thought crossed his mind. would she let me bite her in bed? he decided to keep your little secret blog close to his heart as to not embarrass you, but he had some ideas up his sleeve for later that evening.

armin

you were both pleased to learn that one another enjoyed the same superhero franchise when you started dating, and as such, you and Armin began attending every premier release at your local theater.

while Armin knew you thoroughly enjoyed the movies, and he was glad you did, he didn’t know exactly how much you enjoyed them. in your free time, you enjoyed perusing tumblr and seeing what other fans created relative to your favorite franchise. then when Armin gifted you an iPad with a fancy stylus for your birthday, you wanted to delve into that world too. you started drawing little pinterest inspired scenes of your favorite characters and ships, creating original characters for yourself and others, even taking up some commissions. you didn’t mention it to Armin though. you thought he would think it was a silly waste of your time. for all he knew, you were using the tablet to read and browse the web.

one day while laying on the couch with Armin, you asked him to send you a certain picture of the two of you so you could make it your screensaver on your iPad. he airdropped the picture to you, causing it to appear directly in your camera roll. as you held the tablet out in front of you, Armin’s hand reached over to intrusively swipe through your photos. “wow! this is some really cool fanart.”, he said.

��really?”, you asked, somewhat shocked. “you really like it?”

“yeah, i do! it’s fun seeing what people who aren’t even comic artists can come up with.”

“i actually made these.”, you replied as you continued to swipe through your works, then showing Armin your tumblr blog so he could see everything you had worked on.

“y/n, i had no idea you were doing this. it is fantastic! you are so talented.” you spent the rest of the afternoon creating an original character for Armin and showing him your drawing process.

🔴 He's very strict but for a good reason. You are his only child and he would do anything to protect you.

��He was scared that is anyone found out about you they would kill you or use you in experiments so he didn't tell anyone.

🔴On his days off he would go to see you and spend time with you. He would train you in knife fighting and self defence.

🔴Sometimes you felt the training to be more like a life or death situation than bonding time but you loved him anyway. Any time with your farther was well spent.

🔴The batch would ask questions about where he's been but he would ignore the questions knowing anything he said about it even a lie might give you away.

🔴Crosshair would often tease him about his time off. Often saying things like

🔴"he went to see his lover. Oh how sweet the star crossed lovers are"

🔴Hunter would just roll his eyes and get on with the job. The teasing was normal to him.

----- After -----

🔴After fleeing from crosshair his mind went straight to you. His child was in danger and he knew he had too come and get you

🔴Telling the others about you was hard but seeing omega light up at hearing about another child made him feel better

🔴They got there just in time. The home you stayed in was burning to the ground and you were on the run, the empire hunting you.

🔴Hunter manged to get you away and introduce you to the rest of the family. You had heard of them and took quite well to the members of the batch especially omega

🔴Hunter before more protective of you. When going onto a planet he would either make you stay on the ship or stick to him like glue

🔴Over time he started to calm down seeing how you can handle yourself in a fight. He was proud of you and one time sat down with you and told you that.

🔴He would try his best to talk to you instead of demanding you to do something like he would with his brothers. He was trying to be more of a full time farther to you than a leader

🔴Heart to hearts was something you two would often have especially after a stressful Situation. You would sit togeather often late at night with a hot drink and just talk. It was a peaceful moment you both cherished.

Tech:

----- Before -----

🟠 He's not good with kids so when he found out he had one he panickled.

🟠Emotion wasn't his strong point so didn't know how to feel about it so he turned to the only thing he knew... Logic

🟠It took him A few hours to figure things out but once he did he realised that he wanted you around

🟠The only people he told about you were Hunter and echo. He knew he could trust the two to keep a secret and look after you if anything happened to him

🟠When he got to spend time with you he would teach you new things, one day it could be about the planet he resently went to and the next maths

🟠You could talk to him about any problem you had and he would help solve it even if it was by being a bit to blunt about things but in a way you found that comferting

🟠After every mission he would write a letter about his trip and things he wanted to tell you or say to you but he'd never send them. He would put them in an envelope and hid them

🟠 The letters were for if he died. He knew better than anyone that he could die in battle and he didn't want to just leave you not knowing how much he cared for you. He told hunter and echo if anything happened to him take the letters to his child.

----- After -----

🟠The escape was rough on all of them but he knew where he wanted to go. He flew right to where your home was. He found out before he left that the empire knew about you

🟠Strangely enough hunter and echo didn't ask where they were going and he appreciated that. He just wanted to get you away from any harm

🟠Thankfully you were fine and happily joined your farther on the ship meeting the others that you knew all about thanks to your farthers stories.

🟠 Tech had to explain to wrecker about you quite quickly before pulling you away saying he needed your help with the ship

🟠Tech would often have you fixing the ship along with echo and you would often have to remind him that something are impotent to fix than others.

🟠Spending a few days with your farther was great but now your stuck on a ship with him for a few months now and you two had gotten into a lot of fights. Mainly over him not understanding your emotions and him. Being too logical

🟠 Sometimes you would go days without talking to each other and it was echo who pointed out what tech should do

🟠One day he sat down with you and pulled out a large box handing it to you. It was the letters he wrote. He told you how important you are to him and how he's sorry he might not show that. You two made up and he tried his hardest to show more emotion around you than logic.

Wrecker:

🟡 The fun loving dad. He loves you more than life and even made you your own Lula doll.

🟡He told his brother about you right away and they were shocked. He was so happy he wanted to tell everyone but hunter and tech told him not to

🟡After they explained to him why he became worried for you and kept you away from Kamino.

🟡Any time he had off he would come and see you dragging one of his brothers along to see you. He would say family is everything so you had to know them.

🟡He would also bring you toys to play with even if you were too old for that stuff and you would make him things which he would keep hidden under his bed back home.

🟡Life was more fun with him around. You'd get piggy back rides, play games, tell stories and you both cryed when ever he had to leave

🟡When you were old enough he would start teaching you things he knew. He wanted you to be strong so no one would mess with you when he was away.

🟡He would teach you self defence and how dombs work but thanks to the people you lived with he would never be aloud to bring one for you to see. He would have to draw it out

----- After -----

🟡You were the first thing on his mind when things went wrong. He was pacing in the prison cell muttering to himself and getting angry.

🟡Hunter was the one to calm him down and tell him that you will be fine and that when they get out of here they will go get you first.

🟡The fight out hurt his head and heart. Crosshair had betrayed him and since crosshair knew about you that means your in danger.

🟡Wrecker got to you first and begged you to come with him. You were scared but you trusted him and agreed

🟡Over time you noticed a change in your farther. He kept getting beaten a lot and he kept holding his head. You started to worry and tried to take care of him along with omega

🟡You, wrecker and omega were like the three musketeers, ready for a fight and had a good laugh. You felt whole now that you were with your real family but that didn't stop you from worrying about your farther

🟡Learning about the chip scared you but what scared you more was the thought of your farther trying to kill you. You kept a close eye on your farther until it was time.

🟡He scared you when he changed. He tried to kill his brothers and then went after you and omega. It it wern't for Rex you might be dead. After he got the chip out he apologised and you hugged him. Just happy he's back to nornal

Crosshair:

🟣He didn't know what to do with you. He treated you like you were glass. He never hugged you and it hurt.

🟣You became more angry and felt left out. When he would come to see you it was very rare and it was mainly filled with silence. You'd asked the odd question and talk about what happened while he was gone but he wouldn't say much

🟣On his day off he got a call from one of the people looking after you. You had gotten into a fight and were hurt but the other kid was worse. He came down as soon as he could.

🟣You expected him to be mad at you, to yell but he didn't. He ran over to you and looked you over. Seeing your busted lip and bruised arms made him mad and worried and for the first time he hugged you

🟣You cryed for the first time infront of him and hugged him back. He asked you all kinds of questions and after you told him what happened and how the kid had been picking on you for months he got madder but not at you

🟣He took you away from that place and brought you to kamino. They let you stay but under a few conditions. They wanted to draw some blood and you had to help out around the base.

🟣After agreeing and getting your own room crosshair introduced you to his brothers. They welcomed you with open arms and for once you saw your farther smile.

🟣He became very open with you. Telling you Things he would never tell his brothers and teaching you how to use a rifle.

🟣The shift in your farthers attatude scared you. He stopped confiding in you and when ever you asked him Something he would ignore you or just glare.

🟣When the rest of the batch left with omega you had the chance to go with them but you couldn't leave your farther behind.

🟣The empire kept you safe and away from your farther. You faught them on it but soon found out crosshair didn't want you around. It broke you but you couldn't do anything about it

🟣Crosshair saw you as a mistake thanks to the chip but once it was taken out his mind was clear. He got out of bed despite the doctors telling him not to and went Off to find you

🟣Once he found you he told you how sorry he was and explained everything. You didn't trust him right away but over time his actions showed he wanted you around and he wanted to be your farther

🟣What the chip made him do to you broke his heart and he did everything he could to make it up to you even taking you on missions when you asked to go.

🔵You had no idea who your farther was until you met fives. He found out about you while looking into the chip and managed to talk to you

🔵From that day you decided you had to find your farther, something didn't sit right with you, it felt off the way he died and for some reason you felt he was alive.

🔵Your efforts paid off and the bad batch and the 501st found him. You went to talk with him and he was shocked but took it quite well. He told you about your mother and was happy to have you around

🔵Life was no where near normal for him now. Not only did he have cybernetic parts but a teen to look after. He took to it quite well though acting more like a mum than a dad on occasions.

🔵He refused to let the kaminoans do anymore tests on you and kept you close to him. You helped him when he needed it and he helped you.

🔵Education was very inportant to echo so he made sure you studied and did well in classes. He didn't want you to be like him, a soilder. He wanted you to have a real life outside of war.

🔵He would have to leave you to go on missions but he would make sure you were looked after. One of his many brothers or shaak ti would look after you

🔵After the ship left kamino for the last time everyone could take a breath. Echo made sure you were OK and told you things will get better

🔵He felt like he failed you. You were supposed to have a better life and now you were on the run with no home.

🔵He started to get more grumpy and snappy but would always apologise to you if he directed it at you.

🔵He tried to hide his worries and conserns from you but one day it all spilled out while you two were alone. He was surprised to find you being more of an adult and calming him down.

🔵He realised he raised you right despite the early learnings from the kaminoins and knew you could flourish in any situation

🔵He often asks for your help around the ship. He's one man, tech doesn't always help and hed be dead if he let wrecker help.

🔵More and more you would cone out on missions with them. He knew you could help but also he didn't want to lose sight of you. He was scared of losing you

🔵While on missions he would be quite bossy with you. Telling you what to do and where to go. It annoyed you at first until you realised he was doing all of it to keep you safe.

Summary: You first meet Dabi on the worst night of your life after unwittingly walking into the very bar the League of Villains made infamous. That should probably be the end of the story. You stumble on the remnants of one of the most infamous terrorist groups in the history of Japan, get viciously murdered or call the cops and get them arrested, the end. Except that’s not the end of the story. It’s only the beginning.

Waking up the morning after reclaiming your bedroom (at least in part) is jarring for two reasons.

The first is that you’re waking up next to Dabi.

For some reason you thought he might wake up before you, even though he’s pretty routinely demonstrated that he’s not an early riser. Perhaps you expected the knowledge that he was sleeping in the same bed as you to perturb him enough to get him up early. Instead your eyelashes had fluttered open to find him still deeply asleep with his face only a few inches from yours.

You fully intended on simply rolling over to either fall back asleep or get on with your day but you’d found yourself enthralled with his sleeping face instead. You know Dabi’s smirks, sneers, and scowls like the back of your hand after a little over a month of living with him. His resting face, however, is entirely foreign to you. You’ve never had a moment alone with him where he wasn’t antagonizing you and it’s odd to see him so peaceful. Your eyes trace over his face, taking in the extent of the scarring on his jaw and beneath his eyes, but also appreciating the unmarred expanses of skin as well. It strikes you that Dabi is pretty. It shouldn’t be surprising considering what you’ve seen of the youngest Todoroki in the press but even still. In another world where he’d never become the wanted criminal he is today, you wonder if he’d be a heartbreaker or a sweet, gentle type. Would he be as quiet and polite as his brother seems to be or would he still get a thrill from bantering with someone who isn’t afraid to banter right back? Would he be in the tabloids with a different girl every week or settle down early with his high school sweetheart? You’re fascinated by the idea of what the scarred man before you would be without the tragedy and the trauma. You might’ve sat there just taking him in until he woke up if not for the second reason waking up that morning was so jarring.

Your phone has been pinging literally non-stop.

You’ve never resented your notification sound more as its shrill tone continues to echo in your room, putting the fragile peace at risk. Even before you found yourself as alone as you are now your phone was never this busy. As much as you try to ignore it and wait for the tidal wave of what you assume are spam notifications to end, the sound finally drives you to turn over and grab it. Your eyes widen as you take in the sheer amount of Twitter notifications you have. As you unlock your phone and navigate over to the app your mentions are literally flooded with Deku fans screaming about your talent and how lucky you are. It’s a confusing litany of fangirling that you try to weed through until you get to one mention in particular that makes your breath catch in your throat.

You got a mention from the rising hero himself.

Holy shit.

You’ve never clicked a tweet so quickly in your entire life. Not only are you stunned to find he’s seen and loved your work but he also mentions wanting to talk if you’re interested. Sure enough, when you navigate over to the messages section of the app, a feature you’ve never bothered to use, you notice a message request from Midoriya ‘Deku’ Izuku waiting for you. It takes everything in you not to scream as you read the message there over and over before finally hopping out of bed and moving to the kitchen to call the number he’d left you. It’s a little endearing that he’d been so quick to hand out his number to a complete stranger on the internet but you also can’t help but wonder how someone so naive could be the same man drawing headlines over his heroics and combat skill. You’re not exactly a Deku fangirl but it’s still wild to be dialing a celebrity’s number as you punch in the numbers and then wait for it to ring.

On literally the second ring the phone is answered. “Pro Hero Deku at your service! Who’s calling?” the young man answers chirpily. “Uhh, this is (y/l/n)? You messaged me on twitter?” “Oh! Right! Yes! Hello! One second!”

You can hear Deku excusing himself from whatever room he’s in, a disgruntled voice mumbling something you can’t hear, causing Deku to reply with a hushed “Sorry Kacchan! I’ll be right back!” before there’s more shuffling and finally the sound of a heavy door closing.

“Ok I’m back! Thanks for reaching out to me so quickly!” he finally says now that he’s, apparently, in a better place to talk.

“Yea, of course I guess I’m just shocked you liked my art so much and really appreciate you drawing so much attention to it,” you explain, feeling short of breath at how surreal the situation is.

“Of course! You’re really talented! Your work deserves to get attention!”

“Thank you but, uh, why exactly did you want me to call you?”

“Right! It’s about your artwork.”

“Ok?”

“I want to sell it!”

“What?”

“Wait well no not sell it. Or not sell that particular piece although it is a nice piece and if you wanted to theoretically you could probably sell it although I guess it’s available for free online already so maybe people wouldn’t want to pay for it. Although it’s a painting right? And people buy or pay to go see paintings you can see online all the time so maybe it wouldn’t be too bad but if it’s for your own enjoyment you may not want to give it up which would be totally understandable and also how would that work logistically? If the painting is rather large it may be unwieldy to try and ship it to whoever purchases it, in which case would you have to meet up to try and give it to them by hand? But then that necessitates meeting up with a complete stranger on the internet and what if the person who buys it doesn’t live near you or, since it is the internet, doesn’t even live in Japan? Then you have to contend with international shipping and-”

“Uhh, Deku?” you ask cautiously, barely able to process the mumbling of the young man on the phone.

“Ah! Sorry! I can kinda end up on tangents sometimes... What I mean to say is that I’m not trying to sell the painting you posted or anything but I think you’re really talented as an artist and one of my friends is looking for someone to design a new merch collection.”

One of his friends? Your mind instantly starts running through his impressive list of ex classmates. Your first thought is Dynamight and immediately you shudder at the idea. He may be years younger than you but the aggressive pro hero still scares the shit out of you. Uravity could be an interesting hero to work with although you’re not quite sure you vibe with her aesthetic. Or maybe he’s talking about the new Ingenium?

“You’re real fucking loud in the mornings, you know that Doll?” Dabi asks with a groan as he comes walking into the room with a stretch.

You hurry to shush him, not wanting to lose the opportunity being presented to you, which earns you a curious look. Before you can react Dabi is snatching your phone out of your hand and putting it on speaker. You don’t dare protest verbally and risk alerting Deku of the situation so you have to settle for glaring at Dabi as he smirks at you.

“Yea so, anyway, Shouto really needs new merch but wanted something a little more sophisticated on the designs and I feel like you’d be perfect for that you know? Making all his stuff mini works of art. So what do you say?” Deku asks, his voice still brimming with that same enthusiasm while your blood runs cold. You’re genuinely scared to look up at Dabi’s face to see what he thinks about the idea of you working with his little brother. You hold your breath, Deku’s chipper voice going nervous as he asks “Hello? You still there?”

To your immense surprise, when you finally have the courage to bring your eyes up to meet Dabi’s, he’s got an almost feral grin. “You better take the fucking job,” he hisses delightedly, sending a chill down your spine as you stutter out a response to Deku, your eyes never leaving Dabi’s.

“Yea, sorry just processing. I’d, uh, I’d be happy to help out.”

“Great! I’ll pass your number on to Shouto and you two can meet up and figure out details!”

“Ok.”

“Cool, thanks (y/l/n)! Hopefully I’ll see you around!”

You hum noncommittally before hanging up the phone, still waiting for the other shoe to drop as you practically watch the gears turning in Dabi’s head.

“You’re…. Not mad I’m going to be working with your brother?” you ask cautiously.

“Oh no, I’m fucking delighted Doll. You know why?”

“Why?”

“Because you’re gonna help me have a little fun.”

A/N: We are finally starting to get to the meat of the story omg. I’m sorry this fic has been so slow going, especially compared to my others, but if you stick with I’m pretty sure it’ll be worth it. I appreciate each and every one of y’all that’s been reading this fic because main motivation to write it has been hard
