the fury that you get as a result of killing the tower is so much harder for me than the one you get for running away from the adversary, specifically because of the option to just let her vent her anger to you. or rather, ON you. in this version, broken doesn't stay with you. he doesn't comfort anyone. by the end of the torture, you're left completely and utterly alone. all of your voices have left. and i understand why, bc the tower is broken's direct counterpart, and he does sound like smitten when speaking of her, so killing her is a deep betrayal to him. you've hurt him by hurting her, and that hurt carries over to her version of the fury and intensifies when he sees what she has become as a result of your actions. he can't take it, so he leaves you to your torment bc this is what you deserve for defying and then defiling the angel-turning-goddess that he wanted to find comfort in. it was just so sad to me bc i did the adversary version first and found comfort in broken, and then i did the tower version some time after and knew that i had betrayed not just her, but also him

Im writing a paper trying to articulate the self in metamorphosis through the lens of heidegger.. are you aware of martin heidegger’s theory of the self and existence?

Heidegger was a constructivist in a sense, he viewed that the structures around us, like historical events, culture, society and such, shape the self. These are pre-existing structures which we did not choose and these pre-existing structures shape who we are (kinda deterministic imo). So for Heidegger the self is constructed and it is constructed by these pre existing structures.

Also, because the self is constructed by "outside forces" it is never constant and is always changing (through coming in contact with the world), for example through relationships.

In Kafka's Metamorphosis "As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from uneasy dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into a monstrous vermin". Here we already encounter Heidegger's Gewofenheit (throwness).

But even before Samsa's transformation, he was trapped (thrown) in his life. He works a job he dislikes to support his family, his identity is defined by external pressures rather than his own choices, he does not question his life's meaning but rather conforms to societal expectations (das Man-the anonymous "they").

I think you could say that Gregor's transformation is a physical manifestation of his inauthentic self defined by das Man.

Heidegger defines the self as part of the world as it exists through the relationships and interactions with others. You could talk about how lack of such connections transforms a person "into a monstrous vermin". Gregor is disconnected from the world and the people around him. Heidegger considers these relationships crucial for the self and Kafka's metamorphosis proves him right. It shows the degradation of the self without such structures.

But I think it would be interesting to say that… idk how to formulate this but Heidegger says social relationships are important and they make us as we are. Kafka goes deeper and asks what holds these relationships together? He shows that once an individual is no longer useful, he loses the connections to others, hence he loses himself (is this true though? or is Kafka just a terrible pessimist?) Without the connections to the world does the self also disappear? And can the self only have connections, thus only exist, if it is useful to the world?

Finally, you could talk about Heidegger's being-towards-death (Sein-zum-Tode). For Heidegger, an authentic existence means confrontation with death and realization of your own mortality. Does Gregor achieve this? He never considers his mortality properly, he just accepts it.

In Metamorphosis Gregor goes through a metamorphosis but it is not a good one, it is the process of the degradation of the self. Through Heidegger's lense you could say that The metamorphosis is a critique of inauthentic existence and the alienation imposed by the society. Gregor never achieves his authentic self, rather his transformation only highlights and externalizes the degradation of his selfhood.

Shortly, The metamorphosis is a perfect example of what happens when Dasein cannot assert itself against das Man and throwness.

nothing ever excites me more than a spontaneous genshin, or more particularly, mondstadt discovery. i sat diluc upon the barbatos statue as a nice spot to go afk on without being interrupted by repetitive idle animations and voicelines (sorry diluc, this is nothing personal). my volume was turned up more than regularly by accident, and my in-game music was off despite how much i like the original game soundtrack. aNYHOW- i was about to go afk when i heard some strange noises that i didn't recall hearing in mondt before. it made me pause and turn my volume up even more. in the video above, it's kind of hard to discern the brief sounds over the noise of the wind up on the statue and in mondstadt in general, but when the wind dies down a little, you can distinctly hear voices of people, and what shocked me the most – neighs of horses. i have no clue whether it is just me discovering this only now, after 4 years of playing this godforsaken game and clearly not having paid enough attention to mondstadt's sfx before, but i still felt the need to share this terribly interesting tidbit in case there's other clueless mondstadt enthusiasts like me.

And now I want to talk about how cool it would be if like uh uh the system and sqh were having custody battles over who has more control over the world and obviously its the system the system is really wierd and thats an entire discussion but qinghua is the author and that's really really important to me he should write stuff into existence I think but also last week I had an idea that went like uh sqh loses more and more power as he changes things, so when he's transmigrated in as a baby he loses a lot of 'power' unintentionally and then when mobei comes in there's a thing and when sy comes in he literally just loses it all and he knows this inst really his story anymore

CUSTODY BATTLE OF POWERS a fitting description

It's kinda like, yeah he was a God of that world because he wrote it out and can change anything on a whim.

But once you're actually a part of that world, well it's a little hard to change it since you're living in it.

I'm really interested in Shang Qinghua slowly but surely realizing he's not really in his own story. Yeah he wrote it yeah he made the character but when does the line between "I wrote this character" and "theyre an in depth person with feelings and lives and to me they were only written in a second but here they're actually someone " blur

He spent his whole second life clinging to everything to live and worrying about that characters future and using everyone around him to save himself

When did he really see these people as...people

A one off character becoming his friend

A minor character dying to advance the plot, does he see the grief? Does he say they're characters to help digest what he's done? He never meant for any of this to be real, so how does he handle it?

Does he finally see everyone as real, or does he simply become a character as well?

okay, i have a new drawing for you guys. i do. but i haven’t spent this long on a drawing since this one and i’ve currently spent an entire additional hour on this than i did that one… and i’m not even close to being done with it. like i still have to do the background, finish rendering a face, fix up some clothing, tone adjustment, and THEN add my final details and re-shade some of it to restore harmony after the last few elements are drawn in. when will it be done??? i have noooo clue. but eventually. soon. I got done making my christmas presents so i started cooking up some og stuff for kicks. Then i got handed some MORE presents to make up so this thing has to go in the slow cooker for a bit to slowly drive me insane.

dw you're good! I totally get the divisive nature of SoJ and even my own sisters who also are fans of the series aren't really fond of Spirit of Justice haha

Spirit of Justice is a game that starts off kinda "okay" with the first case to me, but it really takes off in Magical Turnabout (which I love as a Trucy fan, and the culprit in this one is fantastic) and keeps up the pace to the end

I like 6-3 more than most people probably do because I think the mystery is good and the culprit's motive works for me (I see why the motive has a mixed opinion in the fanbase tho). also a lot of good Rayfa moments

then 6-4 hits and, yes, it is technically kinda filler, it's like... the best kind of filler with one of the series's best witnesses, the peak team-up of Athena and Simon, and a fun culprit! so I eat it up anyway

6-5 is ridiculously long but it is one of my favorite finale cases in the series because of how good some of the twists were. One in particular was the most legitimately "holy shit no way" twist moment for me out of all the games and I loved it. The Apollo-centric nature of the case also appeals to me a lot since he's my fave defense, and DHURKE!! Dhurke my beloved...

on that note, the secondary cast of SoJ is really great IMO! I love Rayfa, Dhurke, Datz, Ahlbi... all so memorable and fun

Most of the other games have at least one case that I consider kind of a drag (except I2, which is without sin), so SoJ not really having that issue also helps a lot

however, admittedly, I don't really like the DLC case but it's filler DLC so I just ignore it lol

I also appreciated how much better the character models looked this time around vs. DD, and the soundtrack is AMAZING

that said, once I'm sure that recency bias isn't in play, I think Investigations 2 will probably be my true favorite. It was nearly flawless IMO

How much like The Heart Killers novel is the show going to be? Did the author get to read the script and go off of that or was it just the basic plot? I seem to remember them talking about it but I can't find it and I'm genuinely worried.

So, I’m pretty confident in saying that the THK novel is based on the full screenplay/script rather than vice versa (or just basic plot).

P’Jojo and P’Aof discussed with their friends when they reacted to the pilot trailer - where they mentioned they actually received the idea of the plot (or maybe even a bare script?) 2 years ago. At that time, the plot was more serious 🧐. And both were not keen to pursue it. But within 2 yrs and beyond, they have revise the screenplay to the point where we are at.

After that, they (GMMTV) approached the author to adopt it into a novel (I guess for business and consumerism purposes? To sell as merch). She mentioned in this tweet as well as explain more during the recent BookExpo official launch - where she initially declined to do the adaptation of the screenplay to novel. However, when she received the script and saw Khaotung was one of the main character, she immediately accepted it.

So, if anything - we will need to wonder how much we are seeing on screen will be in the novel (and how much did the author changed/diverted from the screenplay- cause we all know sometimes it may not be exactly the same).

As for how much of the novel we will be seeing on screen? - my guess it’s going to be pretty close but how much we are explicitly going to see them….🫣🫣🫣 (well, I guess there is a reason why the show will be on IQiYI).

I’m going to assume you are asking about the NC scenes (specifically the BDSM, rope-play etc.) because the basic plot of Kant/Style getting close to the brothers to get information won’t change per se - there are already Thai fans on Twitter who spoiled it a little bit that the book is spicy (and I mean SPICY - there is flogging, pain play etc) - I think the word this specific Thai fan said “I need to go bath myself in holy water” ���� (this fan has kindly been doing English translation for inter-fans and put it up on Wattpad to read). Plus, I’m sure I saw a flogger on Kant’s chest during that unholy scene in the official trailer….

Also, I took a sneak peek of the prologue the fan translated - pretty much Kant description was a dead ringer of our lovely First 🤣 (185cm, dark brown large sparkling eyes)…so, safe to say - the author definitely used the boys and script as the based of her novel adaptation.
