Ok I need a little help from my mates here to finish understanding Ao3.

I mean, I'm 29 (and I am a teenager trapped in a person with adulthood, sorry not sorry) I grew up with Wattpad reading Justin Bieber and One Direction fanfics, so I discovered this new platform in Jan 2024 (i know, too late) with all my Polin hype that was never enough for me.

I need to know what the "bookmark" is for so I can understand the difference between it and the "mark for later". because I give all the fics "mark for later" but when I "mark as read" them afterwards I can't find them again (if you know where I could find them that would also solve a problem for me) I need help because obviously English is not my native language and although I understand it, there are things that surpass me. You could answer me "why don't you try pressing the "bookmark" and see what happens"... that's not an option guys because more things open up in English with words (that all together) I don't understand. I have also Googled this question and all the posts with answers are still in English and no matter how many translators I use, I don't understand the difference. Sorry. To write this, I am using the translator because I don't know how to explain it well.

With just one of you to explain to me in 5 words, in basic English for children, I am already happy. I know that many of you who I follow and who follow me are cool and are going to help me 🥹🫂 thank you!

You are a bit similar, you and Mpov, just opposite side of the spectrum.

She really does not like L, and getting worse hiding it. This J M related stating the girls will be on s4 is really low of her tbh. I stopped following her, she is really negative and strongly biased.

But you tend to look away and disregard signs of his character being shady. Not just stupid ass but nice boy, no. Shady and egoistic.

Like the fact he takes pictures of A's b a@@ and R posts it, then deletes. GQ pic w 3 of 🤡 demonsrating L is taking it, with 🦀 looking back. Or her last summer pics from SH where she wears a tiny tiny bikini, he liked and most probably took.

The colours of their outfits at pap walk. It's the colours of Polin in s3, you have to be blind not to see. I am not sure he orchestrated, but 🦀 blue dress is very sus, and his light yellow is s3 Pen colour for sure. It possible though he was set up, idk.

I don't know the drivers behind, but these are really suspicious. I agree with everyone saying he must have been a sweetheart during Bton shootings bc everybody loves and praises him. The two personas are so opposite it's almost psychotic, so something is not addig up. Maybe he got hurt by N and these are him is being petty and getting back or sending messages to her? I do not remember clearly when, but I can recall him saying in an interview that if he (or Colin?) is ever wearing yellow, it's a message to Pen?

I am sure N loves him, but could have rejected him for a good number of reasons (not wanting to be a rebound, seeing him flirting with too many women, idk)

I’m sorry, but this is gonna be a rant.

I am so ANGRY and so BITTER that some fans have been wilding so bad. Everyone knew Luke was w Antonia. We’ve known for months. We saw her repeatedly pop up, and play her social media games. We saw her immediately follow people she met through Luke.

Somehow, a photo, of him - at a birthday party, that was dug out through god knows what manner, through some unhinged fan led to multiple breakdowns. And then they bullied, and directed all of their anger towards a fanaccount, and bullied someone off Twitter bc they wanted to be a nic only fanaccount, and had someone else they worked w create a Luke Newton fanaccount.

That’s not even touching on the Jack Murphy shit, which no one seems to want to take responsibility for. He’s a wonderful man and choreographer and I hope he does mime dancing for Polin next season so you never see them touch.

A bunch of fans still remain adamant, somehow, that Polin (and yes, I’m using Polin bc it was the goddamn characters) had a spontaneous wedding dance solo, and they created the cheek caress and chin grab on their own, completely looking away from the fact that the dances are all rehearsed to a ridiculous level.

Leave Jack alone. Leave fans of the individual actors alone (just bc someone only likes one of the leads does NOT mean they’re shitting on the other or they actively are spreading hate). Leave the private lives of the actors, their loved ones, and colleagues alone.

I mean...yes to most of this. Lots of fans have no shame and no decorum. I really chalk it up to them all being immature under 21s or like below 25s because there ain't no way grown adults are going around acting like that.

If they continue the way they do they're all going to turn into clubchalamet eventually lol.

It's so fucking embarrassing and it's really because all these people perceive themselves to be safe from reproach behind screens. Also because they can't seem to grasp the idea that fandom spaces are for .... fans. As in ... fans .... ONLY.

What's with the impulse to comment directly on the accounts of people who work on the show ... not only are they scaring these people away from giving us content, they're making things super fucking weird.

Imagine if Lukola fans had the same rep as Larries. I'd throw myself off a cliff.

The thing I don't exactly agree with is "leave the private lives of these people alone" - yeah for sure, but with certain caveats. Leave them alone as in don't bother them or DM them or harass them - but I think all celebs and those closely associated with them need to recognise that their image and personal lives are very much in the public domain. Which means it's very much expected that people will pry and probe and comment.

So I'd never expect fans to stop digging up random photos etc. I mean. It was left on the internet. Why would anyone think no one's ever gonna see it 😂

Observations about observations about chemistry

There are at least two categories of people who opine on TV ship chemistries:

Category 1 people:

Say: "[X] and [Y] [have/do not have] chemistry.

Mean: "I [am/am not] personally attracted to [X] and/or [Y], [I am very very horny for them/how very DARE you believe these people would fuck each other]."

Category 2 people:

Say: " [X] and [Y] [have/do not have] chemistry

Mean: "[X] and [Y] [have/do not have] chemistry, and it has everything to do with the relationship and interactions between [X] and [Y], and actually nothing to do with my own personal feelings of fuckability of one or the other of them."

So let me bring this back to Polin.

Context: I think Nicola Coughlan is an amazingly talented actress, who is going to be on my radar for a long time because of her beauty, range, and charisma. I think Luke Newton is a competent actor who as a nice, soft-spoken, charming person in real life lucked into the role of a lifetime as nice, soft-spoken, charming Colin Bridgerton. I like both of them a ton, have had fun watching them do S3 media just like everyone else -- but I have ZERO feelings of attraction to either of them as actors or to the characters they play. (No shade to either of them, but I am an old, but also, I think I'm demisexual? Like, I cannot conceive of being physically attracted to someone I don't know as an actual human being.)

That said: I think these two are absolutely drenched (ew, but also, pun totally intended) in the most basic and animalistic of hormonal chemistry. And while I may not be attracted to either of them as individuals, it is a fucking pleasure to watch the two of them together, because they have convinced me over 2 and a half seasons of this show that they are absolutely horny for each other's time, attention, bodies, and giggles, EVERYTHING.

If you are a category 1 person, I actually kind of feel sorry for you, because it seems to me that you are kind of trapped by your own hormones, and there are probably a lot of love stories out there that you simply cannot enjoy. (Um, unless if you are a category 1 person who is attracted to everyone/a lot of different aesthetic types, in which case I think I am jealous of you, and maybe also exhausted by the idea of you?)

But I think it's safe to say that most of us Category 2 people have been very, VERY satisfied by Polin this season. Pun absolutely intended.

Colin instinctively reaches out to place his hand on Penelope’s arm in concern.

Colin: And what impression would that be?

Penelope flinches and pulls out of reach while looking around to make sure nobody saw.

Penelope: Are you mad? Keep your hands to yourself Mr. Bridgerton. People might see and assume that we were courting… and we both know you could never dream of allowing yourself to be thought of as the sort of man who would want someone as ridiculous as me. Not in your wildest fantasies.

Colin is instantly horrified at the realization that Penelope knows what he said and he watches her walking away from him feeling like his heart was just ripped out. He hurt the one person who was always good to him and he hated himself for it.

And THANK YOU for acknowledging that the show really did include the same basic structures as the book. book!Colin is my love as well but the way everyone is like “oh the book love declaration was much better” Yeah bc my man took over half the book to acknowledge he was truly in love with her, including having to ask his sister. show!Colin was making sure everyone within a 2 mile radius of Mayfair and Bridgerton house knew he loved Penelope, not a second of second guessing. That’s really why he says he could never forgive her for LW, bc he couldn’t forgive her for making him fall in love with someone he thought he hated.

My biggest complaint really is that by saving the LW drama to not be revealed and solved until the final two episodes it didn’t give us time to see the gradual acceptance by show!Colin that we did book!Colin. But as a person with media literacy and understanding that Colin is a character who must succumb to the wills and wishes of writers of a drama series, I guess I will continue to go to war for the most romantic of the B Boys.

i think we should do the polin scene where i apologize for my long posts then you do it for your long asks and then we're both awkward until one of us walks away victorious in our ability to be awkward.

no yeah, there's a lot of the book plot/elements in there and people seem surprised by it? it was one of the biggest criticisms i saw for s2 and i think they did what they could to tie in the show story they already had to include in there to make it more cohesive. and a lot of the things they did bring in, i think they made better. i did not want to watch colin waffle around about loving her because he expected love to be something he heard about instead of something he experienced. he was minutes away from just standing in the street telling everyone about how much he loves penelope featherington and he's so sorry for them but they can't have her because she's his.

oh for sure, i think that's my biggest issue with it as well. they pushed the angst too far back and it was a little too heavy to be handled in the way they tried to show. there was no breathing room after it and that's pretty much it for me tbh. like, i get it, i know why they did it but yeah, had we gotten another 20-30 mins past the angst, i think it would felt more settled.

My thoughts on Bridgerton Season 3 Part 1 (Spoilers)

Hi guys! I have reached astounding levels of brainrot over this season (having rewatched Polin scenes until I am blue in the face) so here I am going to air my thoughts out in probably an incoherent manner. Thank you!

Off the bat:

. Amazing, stunning, beautiful chemistry. Nicola and Luke are really the fucking MVPs. Their chemistry is undeniable to the point where I NEED MORE. It kind of seems like they didn't have enough scenes together, but maybe it just felt that way because of all the other plotlines going on.

. Speaking of plotlines, I am sorry to say that I found all of them unnecessary and dull. I just wanted more Polin, I couldn't stand the Featherington drama, Mondrich drama, Queen drama, or even Bridgerton drama. Francesa's story was probably the most significant, but I felt it was still very dull!

. However, that won't turn me off from loving this season because I have been waiting EONS for Polin to get together! Someone needs to sedate me!

. LET'S TALK ABOUT COLIN "MANWHORE" BRIDGERTON. I have to say that while I was with everyone else when the news broke and hated the idea, I honestly did not mind it. I found it a good and impactful way to show the difference between meaningless sex vs actual intimacy and love. I liked that Colin was exploring himself and thinking he had to be more "manly" like society dictates, but that his genuine and deep connection with Pen (literally his only real friend aside from his siblings) made that pale in comparison. I LOVED how he was trying to get it off at the brothel but couldn't even GET IT UP when having a threesome. That made me laugh! I was like DAMN girl Penelope you did a number on this man. He is Colin "17 cities" Bridgerton yet ONE kiss from a virgin is enough to turn his world upside down and make him question everything he knows???? Hmmm yeah more of that please.

. Oh, carriage scene. If I loved you less I might be able to talk about you more. I can only say that I've broken my rewind button. It’s got CRACK in it. COLIN'S FACE when he realizes that THIS is the woman I will devote myself to for the rest of my life. He is done with his gallivanting ways and wants to literally just be with one woman for the rest of his life. I feel like without his promiscuous ways and bravado in the earlier episodes, this realisation would not hit as hard. It's no longer just the puppy love that he had with Marina, or the vacant lust he had with other women on his travels, but a true, real, meaningful connection that makes him LOSE HIS MIND. I like that that distinction is VERY clear and leaves no room for doubt that he is CHOOSING her.

. I love that he is “experienced” and that she isn't, but she’s able to bring him to his knees with one kiss! That dynamic is always tea, I fear! Also, I LOVE that my girl Penelope is able to get her needs met by someone who KNOWS what he’s doing. I don’t know what people are saying by “they have no chemistry.” To me, they have chemistry falling out of their ass!

. That being said, I am so scared about the LW reveal!! Holy shit, they are engaged and she still hasn't told him!! Which is different in the books. But LW is different in the show + the Marina thing didn't happen in the books. However, I love that they made LW less scathing in this season. She actually compliments all the debutantes and is really more of a reporter over a tabloid (except for that little thing she wrote about Colin, lol! But she was right!). I feel like Colin's hatred for LW is a little overstated. LW saved him from being trapped in a loveless marriage full of lies. I am shaking to see how this goes! Bring on the angst!

. I actually surprisingly liked the Cressida and Eloise friendship, I liked how it became a vehicle to show another side to Eloise, a more tolerant, compassionate, and realistic side. I loved Eloise and Pen's relationship this season. While they are fighting, they still love and try to protect each other. It's really the secondary love story of the season. We love to see it. I just hope Eloise doesn't fuck with her too much in part 2! (Btw, hate that this season is split into two parts! How am I going to wait until June 13th??? Tf???)

. Also, am I the only one thinking that they are building to Cressida having feelings for Eloise? Their connection and Cressida's sincerity towards Eloise is a little too real. I feel like by going into her stifling home life, they are inching towards that. Also, I am guessing that Cressida will end up marrying Debling, who will be gone so much and won't put any demands on her, so it will more be a marriage of practicality that allows Cressida to explore her feelings. We shall see!

. LET ME JUST SAY I SCREAMED when Penelope put her hand in Colin's hair. I remember in an interview Nicola saying that it was her idea to do that. THANK THE HEAVENS FOR THIS WOMAN !!!!! Because that was actually the hottest part of the season, there I said it. I CHEERED!! And if that was improvised by them, then that means that LUKE'S SLUTTY FACE was also his design!! I cannot thank these two enough for their service to this country!! Also, give Nicola an Oscar right now. I have never seen a more realistic sex scene and depiction of female desire tbh (oh god the moans). Especially in Bridgerton. This was the most real and sincere sex scene they've had yet. Take all the awards!

. LET'S TALK ABOUT COLIN'S FEELINGS. I've seen some people say that the season felt off (which I understand, I think it's bc of all the unnecessary plotlines) because Colin's feelings developed too fast. Let me just say that I DO NOT AGREE. I thought this was an entirely natural and logical progression of events. Think about it. We are not watching a "friends to lovers" arc from scratch. They have had TWO SEASONS of the "friend" part. We have had to watch ignorance, rejection, obliviousness, and misunderstanding between these two. Finally, in their own season, all that groundwork (laid over multiple years) has the chance to come off. It's like a spark that finally lights the embers. Their love has been smouldering under the surface for so long and all it takes is a match (their kiss) to make it spark into flame. Colin has felt so deeply for Penelope for a long time, and indeed they are best friends. He has always admired her as a woman and friend and felt comfortable with her. It wasn't until he kissed her that he realised those feelings were much more layered than he supposed. The fact that he dreams about her and that kiss, and ends up growing regretful and jealous of helping Pen attract other men, is absolutely right. The fact that he tries to get over her by going back to brothels but it DOESN'T WORK is absolutely genius! His love and desire for her, and thereby the realization of his feelings for her, is what propels him to look into himself and find that what he has been trying to be has been a lie. It's in that scene where he's with all the other Rakes. He considers himself, at heart, to be a gentleman - unlike the rest of them, and unlike what he's been presenting. He realizes that all the escapades he had only afforded him vacant experiences. He knows the difference between shallow and real connection now. This is when he decides to stop being someone he's not and embrace himself finally, just as he embraces his feelings for Pen! It's a great moment for his character development. I will be the one to say that by the realization of his feelings for Pen, he comes to the realization of himself.

. ONE MORE THING. I have seen some viewers complain about Penelope being the one to "beg" Colin to kiss her. I think these are more new fans who don't know the books, but I am TIRED of seeing this. The fact that Penelope is finally voicing her desires to the object of her desire after never speaking her mind or asking for what she wants, IS empowering! She is finally taking control of her own destiny! Unabashedly asking for what she wants! Being truthful with herself and brave enough to voice it! That is my GIRL. I was so proud of her. It was at that moment Colin knew that he was fucked (look at his face after he decides to do it). MM HM. That is good shit. I don't see her "begging" for it to be degrading. This was a beautiful moment between two close friends who trust each other more than anything. And that was the match that sparked all those repressed and ignored feelings!

. ALSO, I do not understand why people wanted Penelope to fall on her face after the carriage! WTF? Sure, in the books it’s fine, but actually seeing it??? Do they realise how humiliating and painful that would be? I’m so glad they didn’t do that in the show (and I hope it doesn’t happen in the next part). She is TINY, and do you see that huge ass gap between the carriage and the ground? If she fell, she would scrape her whole hands and face and it would be bloody. Why do people want Pen to suffer in humiliation even more?? It would not be funny.

. ACTUAL LAST THING: I actually LOVED Colin’s dream confession to Penelope, maybe as much as the carriage confession! “I’ve not been able to sleep, to eat, to speak…these days. My entire thoughts consumed by our kiss, by you.” I just loved Luke’s delivery of these lines. Btw, that dream was horny af! 

. So, in this way, I don't really understand the complaints about Colin or Polin in this season. I thought it was very well done and well acted. The only complaint is that I needed MORE. MOREEEEE

Anyway, that's all I can think of for now. I'm afraid I have nothing to say about the other storylines because I was resisting the urge to skip them the whole time. My heart lies with Polin and that's what I am focusing on. Thank you for reading!

Debling is some crusty OC suitor she barely even knows and Colin is a man who she has been so supposedly in love with to the point where she'd ruin her entire family's reputation to have a potential love story with him. Penelope and Colin have background, years of knowing each other, intimacy that few people in the Ton can boast of having (letters, conversations about purpose, fights and arguments and makeups) and her and Debling have. . .a dance or two at a ball because he's a rebound for Penelope's broken heart. he means nothing. he has no nuance, he has no weight to the story, he is such an afterthought to me. either I wanna see Penelope going 'you know what? I don't even LIKE this dude. he's. . .fine, but I don't care about him even a shred as much as I care about Colin' or the INSTANT Colin's like 'you know what? we should get married' if it's not an immediate 'say less, you're already my husband, try returning me without the receipt, Debling whomst?' then I don't want it!

like. . .it's just so frustrating to see all the 'I hope Debling sweeps her off her feet and she rejects Colin's proposal and she makes him work for it and and and-' nonsense from the fandom and it's always tagged and no matter how many times I block it, it just keeps popping up. I go into the Polin tag for POLIN. I don't give a SHIT about a male love interest other than Colin. Not one. Not a shred. Not an iota.

and also. . .Debling has the 'benefit' of not having depth, or character traits, or HISTORY, so peeps can project onto him however they want, but I'm calling it now, there is NOTHING he could do or be that would make me like him more than Colin. Colin will always hit different, and I will always love him more. and if Pen's not on that same page? lol bye

you want me to believe Penelope and Colin are soulmates and it's romance for her to hem and haw about how difficult a decision it is for her to marry a stranger who knows barely anything about her. . .

when Marina was out here dropping banger lines like 'You were the only man with which I could see myself being happy' and 'I do not care about any of these men, where is Colin?'? like hello??? and she wasn't even fully in love with him!!!! but we'll demonize her until the cows come home in our fandom and make her the villain in Polin's love story for DARING to get in between Polin, yet Debling, a white man, is a darling dear perfect prince for getting in between Polin? existing in our fandom solely so Penelope can be like 'lol, Colin ain't shit, let me entertain any and everyone else'?

bridgerton season 3 part 1 opinion (as someone who has read all the books + is kathony biased so be warned)

after sitting and stewing on what i just watched for a few hours

i’d like to start this off by saying that due to my disappointment of the writing from the last season, i was way more gracious with this one. kate and anthony were great because of simone and jonathan; i’m not sure the writers had much to do with that.

anyway, what i’m saying is that i already knew not to expect the writers to be faithful to the source material (romancing mr. bridgerton), so i was able to enjoy myself more. additionally, polin’s book isn’t exactly a favorite of mine anyway, so there wasn’t a lot to be too disappointed with in my case.

what i liked:

penelope’s wardrobe; they hyped up the “transformation” so much and i’m glad it did not disappoint.

colin’s hot 😌

eloise’ wardrobe; someone pointed out that it had a lot of philip references, so yay 😀 (it has me worried that it’ll be her story next though, we need ben first)

eloise interacting with the other ladies of the ton was really cute and refreshing; she’s learning that despite them having different interests than her, they are still people of great value. the difference is eloise was raised in a loving and supportive family, unlike most of the others.

sibling’s g&h’s personalities coming through more (they are anthony’s children, truly).

featherington sisters as comic relief.

as an army, plus points for dynamite 🤭 i didn’t expect to like the orchestral version and didn’t see the vision of where they would even insert it, but i actually liveddd for it.

what i don’t really have strong feelings about:

mondrich plot; alice is beautiful but the addition of their family storyline didn’t make much of a lasting impact.

the queen; she was very meh so far.

the featherington storyline: the sisters are funny, but their whole situation mixed with the humor leads me not to take it very seriously.

violet x lady danbury’s brother: 🤷‍♀️ i don’t see it.

the “lady danbury’s brother” storyline in general is very forgettable.

what i disliked:

i think nicola and luke could use more chemistry; they fall short compared to daphne&simon and kathony (HEAVY ON KATHONY THIS IS WHY THEY REMOVED THEM FROM THE REST OF THE EPISODES SIGH)

they kinda mischaracterized colin (he spent the last two seasons being selfish and putting himself above everyone else violet, what the hell are you talking about “you never place yourself over others” 🤨)

the lack of ben time?? did he go back to the academy after taking over for anthony briefly??? what did he do besides dodging debutantes all season????

they glossed over benedict running the estate so quickly; this could have been an opportunity to draw out his storyline, especially since he mentioned that he liked having a purpose: WRITERS???? DO SOMETHING WITH THAT!

i also didn’t really care for the ben x tilly arnold plot; unless sophie’s actually a maid of her’s or something, i don’t see her point in the show besides just be another one of ben’s ever changing girl of the season.

im sorry but eloise would never SHOULD NEVER have befriended her (ex?) best friend’s bully, no matter what the circumstances. that is NOT eloise.

honestly, them revealing whistledown in the first season is really screwing with the writing; in this regard, i wish they stayed more faithful to the book and how colin finds out about LW. it all just seems so messy at this point.

so s3 starts when kathony end their honeymoon… how long was this honeymoon? math isn’t mathing cuz it couldn’t have been more than a week given that kate isn’t obviously pregnant yet in the first ep.

i know that colin and pen are longtime friends, but from how they’ve interacted with each other in the past seasons, it’s a bit harder to believe that they were close CLOSE friends; close friends to the extent of helping the other find a spouse through “lessons”? i don’t see it. that’s why i was a bit ??? when i first found out about the plot they were going with for the season (in the book, colin really just starts following her around cuz she was being sus)

i hate that they had to come up with an excuse to get rid of kathony for the rest of the episodes; i get that they’ve been running their separate households alone for most of their lives and want a break but… i don’t think they would abandon their responsibilities for an “extended honeymoon”. knowing them, running the estate isn’t gonna stop them from being wh0res!! they help each other out with the estate and are still sickeningly in love and have time for each other (in the books). i was also really hoping to see kate taking over the viscountess role. i swore they would have done something like that after that cute/awkward moment when they both respond to “lady bridgerton” in episode 1.

i get that it’s established that penelope’s one goal for the season is to get a husband, but as i know her character, she would NEVER get into races (?) or run just so she can talk to a suitor before anyone else does 😭 okay but it was funny.

i am kinda sad that they couldn’t have just let a mean character or a villain character be the villain character; yea sure, i did say that i liked that cressida had a legitimate and well thought out motive for wanting the LW reward money but, idk i could’ve lived without her storyline.

one of the BIGGEST THINGS for me is that i do not think they should have released so many clips/snippets of the show days or weeks before it came out. i understand like 1 clip, but i skipped SO MANY SCENES because i have watched them at least 5 times already on tiktok or twitter.

the two part season idea is dumb.

i’m scared for how messy part 2 will be (in terms of both writing and just how stressed i will be with the revealing of LW plot HUHU poor pen) but i’m still looking forward to it 😇😇😇 and despite all the things i didn’t like, i did still enjoy it. if i do rewatch it or not is still to be decided; s1 & s2 have such high rewatch value.

franny and john were TRULY a standout though. i cannot even begin to describe how loud i screamed when he finally said his name out loud 😭💕

verdict: the writing is getting messier, get jonathan bailey in that writer’s room ASAP

some thoughts-

+ they are wasting away Benedict. they are wasting his potential and story and what all he could be. he felt so...out of place, confused and useless this season. half of his scenes were of him having sex that was not going ANYWHERE. i love Benny so much but i want shonda to treat this President of Pookie Nation with care and love. I want the story to respect Benedict because his character has so much potential and so much to offer. He hides behind his charming smiles and taunts but his eyes are always sad. As if he is looking for something-this one crucial piece of puzzle and he cannot seem to find it. shonda babes you better sharpen your quill.

+ all the instances that were supposed to be happy for Pen- the marriage, the engagement, the wedding night, ALL OF IT WAS RUINED BECAUSE of that stupid LW secret.

+Kate and Anthony still the best couple i do not make the rules. i don't think even Polin is topping them. tho Kate is certainly topping Anthony tonight.

+ the season was good don't get me wrong but it felt..a bit... rushed and its like the writers are focusing more on the future than savour the present. everything is happening because of the future seasons. idk if that makes sense

+i DID NOT like violet's treatment of kilmartin. i like violet most of the time but she didn't have to act so "unsure", distant and sloppy with kilmartin.

+Francesca gave some slippery vibes as if she is hiding something. or is it just me?

+I don't know why everyone is bashing Eloise so much. I pity her so much. She has kept the sword aside, she stopped fighting but she looks SO LONELY. she is not always the easiest person and she is whiny but i wish i could give her the tightest hug and talk day and night. maybe I see myself in her too much that i am defending her.

+i like they included hyacinth and Gregory this season, they are so precious.

+ i liked cressida's redemption arc but I think Lady Featherington might have won this one. She made peace with Pen in her own tight lipped fashion but i love that for her, i am not going to lie.

+ oh, cressida. i feel too bad for her. i do. but I do not sympathise with her. i actually do not know what to think of her at all.

+mr and Mrs mondrich yassssss slaying as always so cool so suave i love them

Abt LW secret and all : I absolutely hated colin's reaction to pen's power and his stupid jalousy that he has all bc she is more sucsesfull than he will ever be and that she was able to build all of it by herself and her own labour and NO ONE praised her for that exept mme delacroix

Abt kanthony : i loved them sm but why werd they randomly popping on and out. I honestly lost track of them at some point

Abt the season writing : after discussing with a friend, we thought that the season did not have the same pattern as the others, especially part 2 which seemed a bit weird, as if not wrote by the same person

Abt violet : i used to be always like " i could never hate her " but now she just pissed me off. Girl, u can see that your daughter is happy and she found someone she's confortable with so why being such a brat ???

Abt Éloïse : i understand that she felt lonely and all but she is such a bad friend, took cressida for granted, just using her and not even caring for anyone but herself

Abt lady featherington : i had the feeling her "redemption arc " was forced and unatural

I have a happy Polin AU !

First book version because I despise de Marina subplot, and the destruction of Peneloise, and the lack of Felicity, and the personality transplant between Colin and Benedict.

When Violet shows Colin "The List " with Pen on the top it actually works because she doesn't give it to him but tells him to check it out because it's for the nephew of a friend of hers and she wants to make sure they are all great ladies as she believes, and Colin is like "you want to just give away Pen to someone we don't even know!" and gets all grumpy which make him (finally!) evaluate his feelings and realize them.

So he procceds to go court Pen without telling her he's courting her, but telling his family and hers (who don't tell her either because they think nothing will come of it). So Pen thinks he's just being extra nice and they are getting closer. Thus whe he proposes like a couple months later in she's shocked to learn they being courted for months.

Cue hilarious / chaotic proposals only Colin deciding to make a grand gesture so there's no doubt in anyone's mind.

This is old, and I am so sorry, this got lost in my drafts.

But I like this idea! I do believe Colin had feelings for Penelope back when he shouted his infamous words on the steps, but they were still brand new, and he needed time by himself to sort them out. But as they are the Bridgertons, they can't help getting into each other's business. Too many cooks in the kitchen, and no their messing up the recipe that's wrong! When Colin was still trying to figure out what the recipe wanted exactly.

But this here, Violet saying a friend of her's having a nephew, or even one of the Rokesby cousins, are looking for potential brides then shows him a list that she actually put together for him could probably be the equivalent of leaving out an ingredient needed for the recipe, or adding something tue cook may have forgot.

Colin reads over the list Violet gave him for some other man, and his eyes widen immediately when he sees Penelope's name in the top spot. He feels his eye twitch, and no, that's wrong. Penelope can't marry into his mother's friend's nephew's family. She belongs in the Bridgerton family, she belongs with . . .him.

The very next day Colin goes to call on Penelope, but in his tunnel visioned determination forgot to say he was calling to court Penelope.

He tells their families, though. Portia asks her daughter if it was true Colin was courting her, but Penelope denied it. Though Portia also didn't say that's what Colin told her. Portia sighed, how she wished one of her daughters could bag a Bridgerton, but if Penelope says they are not courting, then Portia would believe her. That does make Portia suspicious though of Colin's true intions.

The Bridgertons on the other hand are ecstatic that Colin is courting Penelope and can't wait for him to propose.

Meanwhile, poor Penelope has no idea she's being courted. She just thinks Colin is being extra nice, and maybe pities her a little bit. This is her third season out after all. She'll enjoy the attention while it lasts.

It all comes to head when Portia or Felicity asks their Bridgerton counterpart what Colin's intentions are towards Penelope.

Bridgerton says Colin is courting Penelope with plans to marry. Featherington says Penelope has said they were not courting.

They go back and forth until said couple walks into the drawing room and then both Bridgerton and Featherington are demanding to know Colin's intentions.

Colin bursts out, "I'm going to marry Penelope!"

Penelope's brain temporarily shuts down

Yesterday evening. I went to a wedding. Yes, a wedding. It is prohibited to postpone a wedding for almost any reason. I even know of one that took place the day after the bride's parents were killed in a traffic accident. It sounds absurd. And it feels absurd. But there's wisdom in it, just like the Talmudic ruling that if a bridal procession and a funeral procession meet, the funeral procession must cede the way for the bridal procession. Life takes precedence over death.

I have known the groom since he was about 7 years old. And his parents are very dear friends of mine. But they have also been close friends with Jon Polin and Rachel Goldberg. The four met before either couple married.

And yet, they had to proceed. Not because of all the arrangements. Because it's a religious obligation.

Since October 7, we have added to all our prayers one for the freeing of the hostages. And it was included as they stood under the bridal canopy. And then we sang together:

"Our brothers,​ our brothers, the whole house of Israel, who are given over to trouble or captivity​, whether they abide on the sea or on the dry land: May the Omniprese​nt have mercy upon them, and bring them forth from distress to flourishing, from darkness to light, and from subjectio​n to redemptio​n, now speedily and soon."

And then we danced. And danced and danced and danced. To help the bride and groom rejoice is also a commandment obligation, a mitzvah. And we fulfilled it.

The bridegroom and bride and their families were glowing.

Jewish weddings are all about redemption. Each new home we create is like a small reflection of the Temple, part of its rebuilding. The Temple and Jerusalem. Indeed, the wedding was held at a kibbutz in the hills just outside of West Jerusalem.

I love how you’ve not made it just a love story but like an actual world with seemingly real people trying to actually make a difference - that whole bit with Tom saying ‘this is going to be the greatest thing they’ll do’ is just so epic.

I can’t wait to see how the election unfolds now that Kate is almost winning! I wish this was an actual show, that’s how amazingly you’ve pulled me in 😬

I now get your references for the characters and it’s funny how initially before reading, I just assumed Anthony and Kate would be modelled on Josh and Donna (since they were the only two characters I sort of knew from the West Wing) but your interpretation of them contesting for President is way cooler and makes for so much more angst and drama.

Sorry for such a long ask, I’m genuinely so happy and eager to read your wonderful fic and I really hope you write many many more stories because your talent is just astonishing. 😍 Dowry is one of my favourites in the fandom. as for watching the west wing, we're doing our best to make sure it's not necessary to have watched the show in order to get the fic. if you have, you probably recognize some scenes (directly ripped off from scenes and dialogue in the show), and some character sketches, but beyond a few elements of plot, background, and surface-level characterization, this fic universe will feel a bit different from the show. we're borrowing the universe, the idealism, and the feel-good, hard-but-worth-it political reality constructed in the show. it's a wild, escapist political AU, all in good fun. we hope you'll like it! :)

i find it interesting you say you thought the dynamic between kanthony would be a josh/donna type deal, because i did consider that when i began writing it. it was sort of my go-to, but then i realized i've seen the boss/secretary dynamic many times in shows and it's gotten a bit stale for me. i've also noticed that oftentimes, the female love interest is put in the assistant-position, which to me feels a bit antiquated. at the same time, it's hard for me to imagine anthony in donna's position because the power dynamic between anthony and kate was very different in canon, so i ended up nixing that thought because i wanted them to start off as equals.

that said, there are other bridgerton ships that could fit the dynamic really well! josh and donna are interesting because they're introduced as this enmeshed, basically-married duo that are on a slowburn, friends-to-lovers arc. i think polin could work really well with that storyline, with maybe penelope as josh to shake things up (i think colin as her assistant who switched a lot of lanes in college and career-wise could be really, really interesting, and maybe one of pen's sisters could be dead, to give that additional edge of angst to the already complicated featherington dynamics aaaaaand i better stop before i end up writing this too!).

moreover, i originally began writing this fic because i was interested in exploring a kate-tom friendship a la jed and leo. and in order to do that, i had to make kate president. and then the idea grew legs, because i actually adore the idea of kate as a thirty-something, obama-type figure who's pulled in the opposite directions of radical liberal idealism and centrist pragmatism and anthony as a jaded, conflicted, entrenched dynastic political figure who's caught in this quagmire of expectations. in a way, anthony's still conflicted about his relationship with kate in this AU because it directly conflicts with his personal ambitions and his desire to make his dad proud, so that's canon-accurate but also repackaged in a fun, fresh way.

i don't know. i think it's neat. it's a neat AU. and @folklauerate has so many great ideas and juicy bits of characterization and plot and pitch-perfect writing -- it's gonna be so good, i'm gonna scrreeeeaaaammmm.
