Y’all like angst right? Like heart breaking angst?

Picture this. Two best friends hanging out. These two have been friends for years through hard times, good times, weird times, and all times. They share their secrets with each other and are so close that it’s crazy. (Or maybe they’re a couple who knows, that’s up to interpretation) Anyway, they’re hanging out and doing their thing, and decide to pause for the night and have a surprise sleep over, when suddenly one of them shrinks while they both were asleep.

The unshrunken one feels something is off and checks up on the other only to discover them tiny. The now tiny one is freaking out and the other one is looking down at them in shock. They bend down to be level with them and maybe reach out saying “it’s okay, you’re okay. I won’t harm you. You can trust me. We can figure this out” only for their friend to freak the fuck out. They scream for the other to get away and to not touch them. This breaks the big ones heart but they ask why they’re so scared. The shrunken one just shouts at them that they don’t want to get hurt. The big one tries to explain that they would never hurt them, and that they’ve been friends/together forever, the little one can trust them. But the shrunken one shakes their head and begs to be left alone. Breaking the other’s heart even more, they decide to leave. The unshrunken one goes into another room and thinks about the relationship and why the other doesn’t trust them.

Maybe, In the morning the one who shrunk is back to normal, but seems a bit off. When asked what’s up, they explain they had a weird dream where they were shrunken down to a tiny size. Their friend/partner then asks them that if that were to happen would they trust them to help? They say yes, but we all know they’re lying and it finally hurts the other so much that they slowly start distancing themself from their longtime friend. The connection was broken that night all because one shrunk.

But wait…there’s more. What if when the friend is saying they could help, the shrunken friend shouts “I know you like this stuff!!! So don’t touch me!!” Basically, what if the friend was into g/t and shared it with their friend. The other never really minded cause fantasy is fantasy, so it couldn’t hurt anything. But when it happens to them, they lose their shit and show that they don’t actually trust their friend. Yes their friend is into g/t but that’s why they’re scared. They’re scared of what could happen and aren’t realizing who is in front of them. Someone who probably helped them through the toughest of times, who carefully listened to their thoughts, and comforted them. But in that second, where everything changed, and they were put in the spotlight of interest that they didn’t want any part in, they showed that they didn’t really trust their friend. And that broke their friend’s heart so bad that the relationship would never be the same again, and might even end.

You weren’t a huge fan of the beach, you never were actually. The more you escaped the sun, the better you felt ; and it was even more true about the water. But when Logan almost begged you to come with him, you didn’t have the heart to say no to him. It was rare enough to have Logan asking for someone to actually spend time with him to say no. 

This is how you ended up on the beach, sitting on the sand with your sunglasses on, a huge amount of sunscreen on your skin and, of course, hiding under an umbrella. From afar, you could see Logan in the water. Of course, seeing the man half naked wasn’t something unusual as he didn’t seem to be able to keep his clothes on ; but it was still something you wouldn’t complain about. The sun brighing on his skin, even more because of the water ; no, it was indeed a good view. 

Logan finally walked back to you after some time, standing in front of you with his arms crossed. You looked up at him when you saw the shadow he created with his large figure. “Gonna stay here all day?” He asked and the smile on your lips made him roll his eyes. “I’m feeling great, no need to worry.” He groaned slightly, and you didn’t seem less proud of your answer. 

“Come on, bub. Either you come by yourself or I make you.” You slowly raised an eyebrow, looking at him from above your sunglasses. “Is that a threat Logan?” You asked, and the smirk on his lips was enough as an answer. “Sure it is.” A sigh left your lips but he didn’t move at all. Apparently, he was more than serious about his words. So, when you were about to tell him to go to hell, you felt your body leaving the ground too easily. 

“Let me go, dumbass!” You yelled as Logan walked towards the water with you resting on his shoulder. He had this stupid proud smirk that you hated so much as he was telling you to dream a bit longer. “Ready bub?” He said, his legs half into the water. “Don’t even think about it!” But of course, the Wolverine couldn’t care less. 

The second after, you were being thrown into the water. You just had the time to get your head out of it, putting your sunglasses on top of your head. You glanced at Logan with a frown, until you saw him for real. He was laughing. Not the slight chuckle he was always trying to restrain, or his stupid smirk of mockery. No, Logan was laughing ; because he was making fun of you, technically, but still. You quickly looked away, pushing his shoulder. 

“Don’t make that face. Just take a break with me, uh?” He told you, and you looked at him from the corner of your eye. You rolled your eyes, before a sigh left your lips. You slowly raised your hands before you simply splashed water at him. It took him by surprise, obviously, and he had to wipe his face. When his eyes met with your face, he saw you laughing this time. And it confirmed that he was right with asking you to come with him. 

Both of you spent the rest of the day at the beach, together this time. Sun was slowly falling as you two were laying down on the sand, looking at the sky. Silence was here for a while until your voice came out softly. “Wasn’t so bad to come with you.”  Logan looked at you, a bit surprised by your words. But quickly, a light smile appeared on his lips. “Glad you came, bub.” This time, you were the one to turn your head and so you met his gaze. You simply looked at each other in silence for a moment, and it was like time had stopped. His hand slowly moved toward yours, before he grabbed it in the most gentle manner you’ve ever seen him do. 

You stayed like this for a while before your duty called you back to reality. You got back to the manor together, acting like nothing happened. But in fact, you both knew that things would be different after that day.

You weren’t supposed to get caught. In fact, you didn’t even think you would. It wasn’t a big deal anyways, you only did it because you thought it’d be a way to relax with your friends. Plus, if you guys did get caught your backup plan was your father. It wasn’t like he was going to detain you…right?

Wrong.

You were very wrong to believe that your father wouldn’t take you into custody over a little weed with your friends. You just wanted to have fun! Besides, you didn’t want to be the ‘perfect heroes daughter’ who’s a buzzkill. Why couldn’t he understand that? 

There was just so much pressure that came with being the child to a hero. Your friends already joked about how you were too ‘good’ to do anything remotely illegal. Which is part of the reason you were in this situation in the first place. 

Of course he just happened to be patrolling around the alley you and your friends decided to get a little high in. That was just your luck, he didn’t seem mad though. So you thought he’d just tell you guys not to do it anymore, and move on. Nope. Leave it to Aizawa to want to teach you a ‘lesson’ all of a sudden. He was normally just a “don’t do it again,” kind of parent. Mostly because you had never done anything of this caliber before.

“Did you really have to bring me in?”

Silence.

“I mean come on, none of the other heroes care. They’re too busy thinking about protecting the city, shouldn’t you be too? Nobody cares about a couple of kids getting a little buzzed, besides everyone does it nowadays-“

“That doesn’t make it okay y/n.”

You’ve rarely seen him like this, so tense. He didn’t look angry, but you couldn’t shake the feeling you got that he was. It was almost….scary. 

So you resigned to a simple, “Okay, I’m sorry.” Were you really sorry though? Not that much, you still didn’t see the big deal. 

He let out a low grunt, “This is serious y/n, I know you think I’m making a big deal out of nothing,” well he said it first, “but you could’ve been seriously hurt.”

“Hurt? From getting a little high?”

“Criminals lace that stuff all the time, whether it’s with poison, more drugs, or whatever else they decide-“

“Yeah sure, but we got it from a trusted source-“

“And who’s that?” He said crossing his arms.

You decided it’d be best not to respond right now. Especially since the source wasn’t technically trusted, just another kid who got it from someone else. Who probably got it from someone else too.

Sensing your apprehension he decide to drop it, “we’ll revisit that later,” he said waving a dismissive hand. “I’ll drop you off at home, you’re grounded.” 

You internally groaned at that, grounded? That’s a new one, you were starting to really regret your decision. You should have just told your friends no, even if it meant being the ‘buzzkill.’ Then you remembered, your friends-

“What about my friends?”

“We’re working on calling their parents to come pick them up soon.”

“No!-“ you said sharply, “I-I mean, can’t you just let them off? Or something?”

“You know that’s not how this works, they are already getting off with a minor offense. The worst they’re going to get is their parents’ scolding.”

“Dad! You don’t understand-“

“I understand perfectly fine, a bunch of young kids wanted to ‘have fun’ and thought this was the best way to do it.”

Okay maybe he did understand, but not your side. He didn’t get that now you’d officially be the outcast, the top 10 ranked hero’s daughter who gets everyone in trouble. Does he get how embarrassing that is? 

“Come on, let’s get going.”

You stood from the chair leaving the comfort of being shielded, by the small desk separator, from your friends’ piercing gazes. They thought your dad would let you all off too considering the chaos the city’s currently in. 

You nervously waved and mouthed a quick ‘sorry’ to them before rushing out the door trying to follow closely behind Aizawa. 

You guys didn’t speak the whole way home, you opted for silence mostly because it wasn’t that big of a deal and he just didn’t know what to say. You had never done anything like that before, or had he just never caught you? When did that start?

He remembered when you were little and you’d give your vegetables to stray animals so you didn’t have to eat them, or when you tried to sneak out at night and he caught you. But those were all pretty minor things, and he was only always concerned with your safety.

You’d never done anything this bad, and in terms of the worst thing you could do of course this wasn’t horrible but he still didn’t get why. It couldn’t have just been for fun.

He entered the house after unlocking the door and opening it for you. Before you could make it to your room, where you’d probably go to sulk, he decided he’d ask.

“Why did you want to do that y/n?”

You stopped and turned around to face him. He was standing in front of the door, and now that you actually took in his appearance he looked tired. His dark circles more prominent, eyes a light pink most likely from his quirk, and his black pants had small patches of dust that had been hastily patted off on them. 

You replied after a moment, briefly forgetting his question, “For fu-“

“And don’t just say for fun, because I know you and there are plenty of other things you would do for fun.”

You huffed resigning to just come out with it, “it was a bet.”

“A bet?”

“My friends bet me that I wouldn’t get high with them since I’m a hero’s daughter.”

“And you decided to take them up on that?”

“Yes, I know it was stupid okay?”

“I know you know, you’re smarter than that. So why’d you say yes?”

Why’d he have to be so persistent? “Maybe because I thought I’d finally get some friends.”

“What do you mean y/n? You do have friends.”

“No, I don’t. Momo, Tsu, and Uraraka only hang out with me out of pity, since you’re their teacher, if they even have time-“

“Pity? Y/n no they don’t, there’s nothing pitiful about you at all-“

You scoffed, “don’t lie. I get you’re my dad and all but be honest with yourself, truly honest.”

“I am being honest. I’d never lie-“

Guess you’d just have to spell it out for him then. “The only daughter you had killed your wife, was born quirk-less, and there’s nothing special about her!” You were shocked at the admission of your own feelings but kept going, “I don’t have a talent, I’m not exceptionally smart, I’m not breathtakingly pretty, and I can’t even make friends!” You listed raising a finger for each reason, “Now tell me what about that is not pitiful?”

After that question there was silence, and Aizawa was just looking at you. You hadn’t even noticed you were crying until the first tear slid down your nose crease and hit the corner of your lip. Before touching could even wipe your tear or register the sound of footsteps approaching you, you were being hugged. Fully covered by his arms, your head grazing the bottom of his chin where stubble had began to grow, face buried partially into his scarf. 

You heard high pitched wailing, which you hadn’t even registered was you until his hand began to rub up and down your back with quiet ‘shh’s to try calming you.  

“Don’t cry, it’s okay. It’s not your fault, none of it okay?” He began whispering in your ear.

“Your mom and I both knew the challenges she’d have if she gave birth to you. We were well aware, and she wanted to have you. She didn’t care if she’d die in the process, you are our child.”

He continued comforting you, and when you eventually calmed down he let go and gently pulled your face out of his chest so you could look him in his tired, red eyes. “I love you so much, and I’m sorry if I don’t tell you that enough okay? It’s my fault I’m sorry. You are the best thing that’s ever happened to me, and you’re perfect. I mean that, I’d never lie. You don’t need a quirk, to be super smart, or have a special talent. You’re perfect to me, okay? And that’s all that matters. You’re important to me,” he said firmly. 

“Okay?”

You sniffled, reaching a hand to wipe your nose, “okay.”

“Hey,” he said turning your face back to his, “I really mean it, I’d be no where without you. And how could you say you’re not beautiful? I know I’m not the best looking hero, but haven’t you seen the pictures of your mom? You take after her, gorgeous. Nothing I’d ever change about you, I don’t regret anything.”

“Okay,” you said slightly unused to him saying these things, “I’ve never heard you say something so corny dad,” you said chuckling trying to lighten the mood. 

At that, he gave a small grin which faded when he remembered your earlier point, “And Ochaco, Tsuyu, and Yaoyorozu do like being your friend. Not just because I’m their teacher, trust me I’m more of a supervisor if anything. I let them figure most stuff out on their own. They wanted to meet and hang out with you. I don’t think you give yourself enough credit, you make friends just fine.” 

“I know, I know, it was just heat of the moment stuff dad.”

He let out a sigh of relief, hugged you once more, and pressed a kiss to the top of your forehead.

“I still have about another hour of night patrol, but I’ll stay here if you want me to?”

“No dad, it’s fine go.”

He looked at you once more as if saying, ‘are you sure?’ 

“Yes I’m sure I’m fine, it’s only an hour anyways.”

“Okay, call me if you need anything, I’ll be back soon,” he said headed towards the door.

“Okay,” you said starting to walk to your room. 

But just before he shut the door you dashed for it and started, “Hey! does this mean-“

“No you’re still grounded,” he said. 

And with that the door shut.

okay but for my serious answer it really depends what kind of mobile games you like! I’ll name the pros and cons of the 4 games that are like. most popular/actually playable rn:

PROS:

admittedly the one I’ve sunk the most hours into

It’s a city builder!! You can make really cool kingdoms the community is creative with that even if that side isn’t very loud or prominent. There are some MASTERPIECES

while the battling can be very samey, it’s also fun and can be genuinely difficult at times if (like me) you aren’t super good at games! there is a lot of tactics you can use for harder story levels

the story is genuinely interesting and while all the cookie language can make me wince, this game has also made me cry before and it’s very compelling when it wants to be

CONS:

Where do I even begin

PAY TO WIN. like. Technically you don’t have to, I haven’t spent a dime on CRK and I don’t plan to, but if you take one look at the arena leaderboard you’ll see it’s full of whales

It’s a gacha game, and while all the CR games are gacha games at least on some level, it’s most prominent in CRK. Get lucky (beginners luck seemed to be a thing though so idk maybe you will)

The story is interesting sure but the lore is WILD and keeps GOING . one hit after the other. we try our best here

Cookie Run: Ovenbreak

PROS:

my favourite my little baby girl (I haven’t touched it in a month I haven’t played the latest update)

In terms of gameplay? By FAR my favourite, an actual endless runner game.

The least gacha dependant game ! Only really the costume and the treasure gacha

Even I don’t fully understand Ovenbreak Lore there’s like 80 diff things happening at once story wise

Despite the fact that the cookies are no longer dependant on the gacha system to get, that doesn’t mean I enjoy the system that is present instead now (if the star candy system has no haters I’m dead)

The graphics… are a mixed bag. bc on one hand there are stunning cutscene arts, costumes, and newer cookies look gorgeous. on the other hand

Any idea about how the timeline of TWST would even look??? With the events, vignettes and Books?

Like, actual dates and such? I saw some comments saying that Yana confirmed that all begins in late September, but you can’t be serious that Riddle recovered that quickly from a OB.

Hi, let me start off by saying that, in regards to book 1, it does indeed take place in late September (as Yana herself has stated). On the subject of Overblots, all of the OB boys (Riddle included) revert back to their normal forms after they are defeated in battle. That (I guess) technically counts as recovery, doesn't it (since they're no longer in their OB forms)? I'm assuming that the OB students are not immediately sentenced back to classwork (where they may be putting themselves in further danger by exerting their bodies to use more magic). They're probably put in a probation period and/or monitored closely before they're given the clearance to go back to using magic. After all, it usually only takes regular rest, meals, and relaxing to restore one's magic and to ease away blot. Now, about the rest of the ask!! I won't be putting together a timeline. It would be a different matter entirely if I was being asked to just do this for the main story and maybe events (a lot of events, especially sequels or birthdays, could be lumped into the same general time frames), but all vignettes as well? That's where I draw the line. Right now, there are over 100 vignettes in Twisted Wonderland, and it's simply NOT feasible to comb through each one individually and seek out context clues for when the vignettes may be happening. Not only that, but I know for a fact that not every vignette will have clues about when they are taking place. I'm sorry, but no one has the time to do that, certainly not me 💦

Frankly, putting together a single comprehensive timeline for TWST is an impossible task. I know that there's been many fans who have tried their hand at this (and I applaud them for their efforts! It's nothing to sneeze at), but it's just not able to be feasibly done. There is no arrangement which neatly puts everything together in a way that makes total sense. (It would also be a VERY chaotic year if all the TWST content that has been released so far happened in the span of less than one year in which the main story occurs.) There will always be inconsistencies in how the characters act or what other details are referenced which will contradict where they are placed in the timeline. (For example, why is Epel friendly with Vil during the Halloween events in autumn when Epel didn't get his character development and learn to respect Vil until book 7 in like... early spring? It cannot be the Halloween after book 5 because Vil would be gone on his internship.) This is also an issue that the TWST devs themselves have, so Yana Toboso basically came out and said that vignettes and events happen in their own alternate timelines separate from that of the main story. (For example, Fairy Gala: If isthe event that is most obviously an alternate retelling of the original Fairy Gala; if this event were occurring after the other, the characters would be commenting on “why is this happening again”.)

At best, you'll be able to guess season, months, or general spans of time; there are rarely concrete dates granted (excluding birthdays, Halloween, Sam's New Year Sale, and/or NRC Founding Day/Anniversary). I also want to note that a lot of people tend to assume the Ceremonial Robes vignettes are all set before the entrance ceremony, but this is not necessarily true as we have outliers like Deuce’s vignettes which indicate he is wearing his robes for a special ceremony other than the opening one.

I would recommend researching yourself, maybe looking into timelines other people have made for fun. Just don't get too caught up in the technicalities and please be aware that the "perfect" and "contradiction-free" TWST timeline does not exist.

about the dream allegations? im sorry but i cant fully believe amanduh's case because she has so many holes in her story to the point that she's also destroying her own case as well. i had a talk with my friend who was groomed for years and they told me what a victim usually acted when sharing their story.

i cant say if the victims should act like that all the time when exposing someone for grooming but it was really sus that she wasn't, uh how should i say this, emotional i guess???

(edit: i phrased that so bad but what im trying to say is that everyone has a different reactions to grooming but from amanduh's video, (i showed it to my friend after so that they'll the one who will judge her instead of me) both my friend and i noticed how she doesn't really put her heart into it in a sense? it's along that line technically but still not all victims have the same reaction as my friend.)

other than that, a lot of people were pointing out how the math ain't mathing with the story.

first, she said that she was turning 18 when dream texted her and allegedly started sexting her but in one of her tweets, she said that she just turned 17 last year. which is really confusing and downright idiotic if she lied about her age.

second, she said that she was with her boyfriend during the years 2020 to 2021 thus she stopped texting dream at that time range. but here's what confused me, she herself said that her and her boyfriend met at april 2022 tho??? someone might ask "but bella, this boyfriend might be the different one!!!" no, she didn't have an ex. she could have explicitly said "ex", "ex boyfriend" or "current boyfriend at that time" and her boyfriend confirmed that he was already with her when the dream situation happened.

third, she was still following dream up until today when people noticed that she made that post but still kept up to date with his life happenings in twitter. in fact, she was defending and liking posts about dream's face reveal no less than a week and few days ago. if she was a victim of his grooming, shouldn't she unfollowed and blocked him in all of his social media platforms??? make it make sense. (photos aren't mine, i forgot who the user is because of the sheer idiocy i witnessed).

fourth, she tried to get keemstar of all people to cover her case instead of going to literal lawyers if she wanted everyone to hear her and the "victims" voices. if she really want to make a credible case, she should hold her cards close to her chest instead of showcasing the evidences in the internet before she could even take legal actions against dream. it's literally the best and most logical action she could have done instead of this.

fifth, she already has a record of being...weird online?? like this photo for example is literally just crazy for me to read...i literally can't take face value if she's like this.

i also saw people how the first girl before amanduh already admitted that her claims were fake and i wont be surprised if this one is fake as well. look im not a die hard fan or a stan of dream but i do watch his content and my friend (from earlier) does so as well, and they're downright pissed at this situation because these girls might have destroyed the chances for actual victims of grooming to speak up about their own situations. all for what? clout? it disgusted me and my friend to see people using this serious matter for something so cruel and malicious. i used to believe on the "believe the victim first and foremost" but after the amber heard case and then this, i would be more on "listen and criticize if the victim's claims are true".

to the girls who made these claims and proven to be false, i hope you have a fun time in hell after all of this.

but if it was ever proven that dream literally did it, then i'll retract my statement and remove myself from the internet to reflect.

either way, only time will tell and i hope everything clears up.

We do have some het ships, but they really are rare. We talked about it at some point, here are the posts: 1, 2. Katsu was kind enough to find them… But it was ages ago (3 years ago, in fact), so I’ll talk about it again!

It isn’t weird for us to ship f/m; and if the dynamic is our “type”, we’ll very likely to gravitate towards the said ship. A good example of one of our favourite het ships is Eren and Annie from SnK. They have a lot of features and elements of our favourite m/m and f/f ships: one is passionate, determined, stubborn and a bit dumb (due to being blinded by his own determination), the other one is quiet, snarky, a kind of depressed and looks unapproachable, but actually has a soft spot for the first one.

And the girl doesn’t always have to be the “passive” one, because a lot of our favourite het ships could be described as “a bossy woman/a pushover guy that complains a lot”. Like Jordan Sullivan/Perry Cox from the tv series “Scrubs”.  So the guy bitches about how much of a Satan she is and how miserable she makes him, and he clearly knows just how villainous she could be, and yet for some reason the moment she stops torturing him with her attention, he is suddenly lost and confused. Basically, it’s either this, or the previous dynamic for the most part lol

If the ship is fun to play around with, we’ll ship it, even if it’s f/m. We don’t have anything against it in general. But we do have a bias towards f/f and m/m ships that is partially caused by the fact that our favourite dynamics are more likely to exist within those. And of course because the same sex ships are less likely to get canonized and therefore reduced to “happily ever after” in canon… which is something that we absolutely hate :(

And to answer your second question: Katsu isn’t non-binary; it’s just that the pronounces that we use are all over the place. It’s mostly due to the fact we use masculine form when talking to each other (and a lot of our friends) in Russian, mostly out of habit: a lot of people of our generation did (or still do) that either for the sake of sounding more neutral or because they used to roleplay male characters. I’m simplifying it a lot though; it’s kind of one hell of a can of worms that works differently for different people lol This is why you can really use any pronoun when talking about us, it doesn’t really matter that much. Katsu called me a “he” in one of the Nebula replies a couple of weeks ago lol and likes it more in general.

But technically Katsu and I are each other’s girlfriends. We can’t get married, so this status is permanent, but it doesn’t sound that serious, I guess.

And worry not, Katsu has heard your prayers… the other day we were actually shocked to learn that it’s been quite a while since we’ve posted anything fish-related, wow yikes! Gotta fix that!

One day Idia is just going to wake up with his legs cut off, because Ortho suddenly decided that it’s time to start. Why didn’t he talk about it with Idia first? Well, it’s better to ask for forgiveness than ask for permission, right? Hehe~

Ghosts aren’t Real (Part 1/?)

Hey, this is my first Storytime Big Bang (@tss-storytime) submission! It was very fun, even thought here were a couple of road blocks (Mostly my fault. 😅) I was partnered with @pizza-box-raccoon, who has some amazing art! (Some of the best IMO.) Their art is here, go check it out! There's nothing too serious in this chapter (or in the next one (I think)) but look at the tags and keep them in mind just in case ❤️

Summary: After a ‘Ghost’ knocks over something in his kitchen while he was coming up with video ideas with friends, Quill and Davi come up with the idea to go ghost hunting in his house. Virgil is scared that they’ll somehow get detected, but Logan is less convinced. Because Ghosts aren’t real… Right?

(Thomas's P.O.V)

"- So yeah, that could be a fun video idea," Davi finishes up his statement, taking a bite of Chinese food.

Quil chimes in, "Yeah, I could see that, but we don't have a pool."

"There are public pools."

We were talking on the couch about video ideas and things the others wanted to do, trying to come up with ideas while also talking a bit about how we were doing. Patton was watching over us in the kitchen fondly, smiling at every idea and laughing at every joke, even if they weren't particularly good. Patton adjusts himself, accidentally knocking a spoon onto the floor, causing Quil and Davi to look in his direction.

"Thomas, your ghosts are hungry," Davi jokes.

My sides come around and check on me often. It's not surprising at this point and there is nothing I can really do about it anyway. However, they can be clumsy at times as well, accidentally knocking things over and bumping into furniture or walls. No problem, they usually pick whatever they knocked over up and go on their way. The problem is when people are over and they do it. At first, it freaked out my friends and made me self-conscious about it. But over time it became a light-hearted joke, so now whenever something gets knocked over or there's an 'unexplainable thump,' they say it's 'my ghosts' messing around.

"Well, they'll have to stay hungry," I smile, "I have no idea how to feed them."

"That rude, Thomas," Quil joins in, "You should always feed your guests."

I glance at Patton for a split second, "More like unruly roommates. They're lucky, they don't even pay rent."

"Technically we do, but-" Patton goes on to say before being cut off by Quil.

"Damn, must be a hard afterlife. Knock over a random guy's stuff and he doesn't even make you food."

"Would you?”

"... Depends."

Davi asks, "Hey, Thomas? Random question, but were you scared when you first moved into this house?"

I glance at Patton for help, but he just shrugs wildly at me. "Umm... No, not really. I mean, I guess it was scary at first, but after a while, you just tune out the noise."

"Yeah, that makes sense. Do you think it's actually a ghost or a demon or what?"

Oh boy, if only you knew. "Well... No, I don't think it's a ghost or a demon. I'm sure there's a solid, logical reason that all of this is happening but we just aren't seeing it. But the way I think of it is... If it was going to hurt me or wanted to hurt me, it would've done so by now, you know?"

Davi nods, "Yeah, I get it." I play off a breath of relief as just a sigh. I was making stuff up. I know for a fact it isn't a ghost, it's me. And it's not an it! It's a he! Sometimes a 'they,' but in, like, a plural way.

"Hey, I have an idea!" Quil smiles excitedly. "Let's do a ghost-hunting video!"

I feel my heart drop to my stomach as I realize what that implies. "... A ghost-hunting video?"

"Yeah! I have some equipment I could bring over, try some stuff I saw on TikTok a while ago, it could be fun! I mean, we most likely won't catch anything, but it could still make a cool video if we crack jokes and just have fun with it, you know?"

I nod along, feeling like roots and vines wrapped around my chest and squeezed tightly. "Yeah, totally!"

"Oh my god, I love watching those ghost-hunting videos!" Davi excitedly grabs Quil's arm, "Have you seen the ones that Ryan and Shane do?"

"Are you talking about their newer ones or their older ones?"

Davi and Quil continue talking about Ghostfiles and Buzzfeed unsolved while I give Patton a concerned glance. He holds onto his cardigan nervously, refusing to make eye contact with me. Finally, he sinks down guiltily. I feel bad for Patton. He didn't mean to, it was an accident. But now I may have to face a reality I don't want to face, that being 'confronting the idea that my sides are more than my sides.'

"So when do you wanna do it?" Quil turns to me and asks, catching me off guard.

Oh god, how do I answer this? Is there a good answer to this? "Umm, I don't know-"

"The soonest I'm free is a week from now," Davi chimes in, "Is that okay with you?"

"Yeah, I should be free then," Quil turns towards me, "Thomas?"

"... Yeah, that works great!" I force a smile, trying my hardest to not let them suspect anything.

"Sweet! Hey, I gotta go, but I'll text you guys about it. It will be fun!"

"Great!" Davi grabs his bag, "I'd stay longer, but Quil's my ride. I'll see you soon, alright?"

"Yeah, of course!" I walk Quil and Davi out the door, waving them off. I take deep breaths as I close the door as sit back down on my couch in defeat. After a couple of minutes of agonizing silence, Virgil pops up by the stairs. Great.

I sigh, forcing a smile, "Hey, Virgil."

"Cut it," Virgil ordered, not buying my happy exterior. I immediately drop my smile after I hear him speak. "You were hanging out with Quil and Davi and now you're anxious... Why?"

Without another word, I summon Patton. As soon as he appeared, he began rambling. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to! My hand just brushed against it and it fell and I didn't know it was there! I shouldn't have even been here, I should've ducked out when I could, I-"

"Patton!" Virgil shouts over him. Patton stops, waiting for Virgil to speak. "... Tell me what happened."

Patton takes a shakey inhale before speaking, "So, I... I knocked a spoon on the floor... in front of Quil and Davi-"

"Is that it?"

"No, that's... That's not the bad part. The bad part is... Now Davi and Quil want to ghost hunt here because of me."

"What?!" Virgil shouts, along with Roman and Logan who just arrived. While Roman and Virgil sounded genuinely concerned and panicked, Logan just sounded confused.

"I'm sorry!" Patton covered his face, part in embarrassment.

"Hold on," Logan interrupted, "Why are we panicking? Why is Quil and Davi 'ghost hunting' a bad thing?"

"Because what if they detect us?" Virgil speaks up.

Logan sighs, "They won't. We aren't ghosts, we are a part of Thomas. Also, ghosts aren't real."

Roman buts in, "Yes, I get that, but... Don't you at least find it a little strange that we can touch and throw things even though we are nothing more than Thomas's thoughts and feelings?"

Virgil leans in closer, "Interact with our surroundings... Like ghosts?"

Logan holds the bridge of his nose, "Gosh, both of you are being ridiculous. Yes, it is a little... Odd that we can touch things that exist. But for us to be ghosts, we'd have to be real or human, in some sense. And as far as I'm concerned, we don't even exist outside of Thomas."

At this time, Remus and Janus have both appeared in the kitchen, listening in on our conversations. Virgil pipes up once more, "You say that, but obviously, we have to exist somewhat. We can literally interact with our environment! Meaning we are as real as the things we knock over. Also meaning, we could be ghosts."

"... Virgil, we would have to have died to be ghosts, meaning we existed before Thomas. And that just doesn't seem likely, considering we are Thomas."

"But how do we know that?!"

"Because we are Thomas! Literally! If it looks like Thomas and sounds like Thomas, it's probably Thomas."

"No, I mean how do we know that we didn't exist before Thomas?!"

"We didn't exist before Thomas, there's... There's no way we could've... Ghosts are dead, Virgil. For us to have died, we would have to have lived. And the only one here that has ever lived is Thomas."

"Maybe we did live and we don't remember it! Isn't that the cliche? That the ghost has to remember how they died to pass on? If that's the case, then it makes sense why we don't remember dying or living."

"God, Virgil, you are infuriating right now." Logan turns towards everyone else in a slow turn, looking for support, "I'm not the crazy one here, right? I'm being reasonable? Patton, Janus, anyone?!"

Janus tilts their head slightly, lost in thought, before speaking. "You know... I would try and lie about this, but I... I actually don't know the answer."

"What?" Logan says exasperatedly.

"I mean... I could give an answer, but I wouldn't be lying... I'd just be wrong, maybe."

Logan whips around towards Virgil again, "Okay, then how do you explain all of us looking like Thomas if we are separated beings from Thomas?"

"I don't know, maybe that's the only way Thomas can see us."

"So... What, you think Thomas is a medium? And what about what we represent? We know what we represent, that has to have some meaning for you, right?"

"Guys, let's calm down and take a breath, alright?" Patton tries to de-escalate, moving his hands as he speaks. "I mean, will know the answer when it happens, right?"

"Yes, but-" Logan interrupts himself. He takes a deep breath, before facing Virgil once more, "... But I want to try and ease everyone's mind before then."

Virgil sighs, "I know, I just... I'm scared to be... 'Found out', you know? I mean, as much as we pretend that all of this is normal, we all know it isn't. We know Joan or Kenny or Davi and Quil don't have their own 'sides' that they talk to daily. And I don't know how much longer we can lie to them about this."

"Virgil-"

"And what if they react badly? What if they think all of this is weird or strange, too weird for them to stick around? Or what if they think Thomas is haunted by ghosts and they freak out and run off? And what if they tell Thomas's other friends and they do the same? What then?"

The entire room has gone silent. This wasn't a new train of thought for me, being scared that my friends were going to leave, but hearing it out loud in this context made my stomach flip. Finding out about the sides really would freak them out too much, wouldn't it?

Logan places his hands on Virgil's shoulders softly, with a neutral but sympathetic look. "Everything will be fine. I promise... They may think it's weird, but it should take more than this to drive them away. "

"... And if it does drive them away?"

"Then they weren't real friends anyway. Plus," Logan removes his hands and dusts himself off, "I don't see why they should be scared. We're the ones who live with it."

"Yeah!" Roman cheers, "If they don't like it, they can suck it! We deal with us every day, and that just makes us stronger than them."

"And it's not like they have anything to fear," Patton adds on, sitting on the arm of the couch, "We aren't violent or evil or anything."

"Speak for yourself," Remus cracks his neck, the pops sending shivers down my spine.

Patton winces, "Well... Well, we've never hurt anyone."

"On purpose."

"Or severely."

"Or physically," Logan explains, "We can't touch them. We can touch things, Like spoons or counters, but not people. So even if Remus wanted to put his hands on them, he couldn't."

"If I could physically hurt people, I would've done so already. That's why you gotta... put them to sleep for me, Sanders-man."

I shoot Remus a look, "Okay, that first sentence did freak me out a bit, but... Sanders-man?"

"Like sandman. Not my best work, I admit. I'll workshop it."

Janus clears his throat to get everyone's attention, "So we're lying about this, right? If they suspect anything just deny?"

Virgil takes a harsh breath in, taking a seat on the stairs, "... As much as I hate you and that idea... It's the only one that can keep Thomas safe."

"Aw, Virgil doesn't want to admit I'm useful~"

Logan takes control of the conversation once more. "Reminder: this is all dependant on if their ghost equipment even detects us. And there's a very good chance it doesn't.

Maybe... Maybe attempting to rationalize with fear was the wrong move. Because, and don't take this the wrong way Virgil, but fear can be... A bit irrational. Why don't we try and find different ways to cope until then? Any ideas?"

4. What detail in [Little bit of Love] are you really proud of? Mh, good question. Oh, omg. The fact that they found and agreed on a name for their baby in a car of all places. I didn’t intend for it to happen that way, but it did and now I can’t let go of the thought that, not only did they technically fall in love riding in the same car (*ahem* shop *ahem*) for hours every day, but they also named their first child riding side by side in a car. Maybe it’s just me who thinks that’s kind of cool and fitting lol

6. What’s one fact about the universe of [Little bit of Love] that you didn’t get a chance to mention in the fic itself? Um, again, good question... maybe the fact that Lucy did actually officially keep Chen as part of her name (like a middle name), and that people at work call her both Chen and Bradford now. 

9. How do you find new fic to read? I usually scroll through the Chenford tag on AO3. If I’m not in the mood for that, or have little time to do it (like the last couple of weeks), then I just read the stories from the authors I’ve subscribed to (my inbox is glaring at me as we speak because I've got some serious catching up to do. I’m so behind… and thanks to a certain new blog, I now have even more reading to do.) 

26. Would you rather write a fic that had no dialogue or one that was only dialogue? I think I’m gonna have to say no dialogue because without dialogue, there’s still ways to convey whatever message you wanna convey, but with only dialogue, some pieces are just going to be missing in the context. How are they actually feeling? Did they say it with a smile, or a frown? Where are they? Who’s actually talking? Are they sleepy, excited, sad? Etc, etc, etc…

30. Have you ever written something that was out of your comfort zone? If so, what was it, and how did it affect your approach to writing fic thereafter?  Um, writing that first piece of smut back in July for ChenfordWeek. I’ve written more since then, so I guess after getting that first one out of the way, so to speak, it made it a little less terrifying? I’m still nervous as all hell every time I’m about to hit that post button, but it’s getting better. 

35. What aspects of your writing are completely unlike your real life? Huh, ha. Most of it? If not all of it lol. But I guess that’s why it’s so much fun (as you said yourself as well!) 

49. What are you currently working on? Share a few lines if you’re up for it! I’m always working on Little bit of Love (shocker, I know). So here’s a snippet of the beginning of the next chapter, which is proving to be more difficult to write than I anticipated...

He hums in agreement and closes the few feet of space between them to pull her into a loose hug. Her back is to his chest since she was looking around the room again, and she lets herself sink into his arms with a smile. He lets his hands wander over the sides of her belly and then down until he can clasp them together underneath and gently lift the weight of their baby. “Oh my god,” Lucy sobs in relief, tears welling up in her eyes because up until right this moment, she hadn’t realized how much she needed that. Her head falls back against Tim’s shoulder and her eyes flutter closed in pleasure. She can feel his little chuckle against her hair and sighs when he nuzzles his face into her neck and brushes his lips over the skin just below her ear. “This is how much weight you carry around every day in your belly alone?”

i dont normally send asks but i came across ur blog and you have some really cool ideas when it comes to personification stuff,, ur like one of the few other ppl ive found that actually includes polandball and countryhumans in personified fandom stuff so id love to hear ur ideas abt them!! as someone with a fascination with fandom history id be down to discuss stuff more with u if u wanna

uh *checks notes* I am going to assume you mean their dynamic/hcs about each!! I’ve never delved very deeply into Countryhumans fandom history/her dynamics with the others because. Controversy but I still do have lots of ideas about her. And she is *the* quintessential Canonless G(A) fandomspirit to me, probably because she’s the first one I was part of. You get into G(A) through Hetalia, Countryhumans, or Polandball mostly and they’re the faces of the whole place so,,, very well defined House triad here.

What I do say is CH is PB and Hetalia’s conceptual daughter (her premise is kind of both of theirs mashed together) but Hetalia and the other two are separated by the Canon-Canonless divide (and the fact that he has a husband) and thus don’t talk as much. (Which is funny because his two actual sons, Fandomstuck and Socialstuck, are both Canonless.) Also, he gets into Reality more often because he has more cosplayers. But their dynamic is more like older-younger sibling, they swing back and forth between working together well (sharing headcanons and Netizens) and actually beating each other up (raids). From what I’ve seen, and I’m mostly saying this from CH’s POV, he’s more likely to start it than she is.

Both of them are a little scared of each other, PB because he has a lot of overlap with her and is the closest to seeing inside of her brain (he’s read her writing before) and is uncomfortable around it, CH because she can never tell when PB is being sarcastic and when he actually means what he says. She usually assumes he’s being serious.

Also, fandomspirits don’t get as possessive of their people as much as OTJs do, which, considering the way they feed, is probably a good thing. So they don’t fight about who gets the food; they’re content, and CH even likes receiving less because it’s made her swings less severe.

I have no idea what’s going on with her right now because I can’t check her tag and no longer use Wattpad (her Wattpad room is way more active than her AO3 room from what I remember) for personal reasons, but is the Save the Countryhumans Fandom thing still happening?

Fun fact: she’s the second fandomspirit of Countryhumans. The first one was the Country Guardian, Nadia. She got thrown into temporary leave for killing another Guardian which she felt (feels) guilty about even with most of her memories wiped.

CH’s rooms in G(A) are vandalized to hell and back. She’s used to it.

What I meant about swings: she has periods of making shipping Whatever the Hell She Wants (btw in the personifverse G(A) is technically RPF) and then periods of feeling incredibly guilty about it.

Wikipedia, Britannica and JSTOR are her favorite places.

All of her spin-offs (Statehumans, Planethumans, social media humans (subordinate of Socialstuck in the twins’ journalism business)) live in her head but can manifest bodies at will. Planethumans is the most independent one.

She’s jealous of Centricide because they get to unironically ship Nazis and Communists without people yelling at them.

I know you came here half for PB but I don’t have many headcanons about him :( he is definitely the face G(A) would most like to show to the public, and really good at art (terrible at writing) except he can’t be bothered to try mostly. (I’ve been on some of his subreddits some of the pictures are pure eye candy)

The Leas' population knows how to have a good party (if not a suspicious one considering the last chapter), so: Do they have a Halloween equivalent holiday/party/festival? They or the fae?

Omggg yes allow me to go off 🤩

I didn't get to go into it much beyond a brief mention of mc's sibling getting candy, but Lasan is actually the equivalent to Halloween in Leas! At least in that it happens in autumn and there's a trick-or-treating element. The fire candies in chapter 7 are handed out to kids. It's the only day of the year people eat them (more or less) so you've got kids running door to door collecting as much as they can before parents drag them off to the nighttime celebrations 😆Fun fact: Leas is very much a "bring your kids along" culture rather than a "find a babysitter" one. Enala (where MC's other parent is from) leans a little more in the opposite direction.

Speaking of which, if we want to see a costume-themed holiday,we can travel through the continent to Enala. Enala's full of artists, and it shows. Around the same time as Lasan there's a huge holiday there with parades, magical spectacles, and wildly impressive costumes. Picture an explosion of color all through the streets set to a backdrop of music.

As for the spooky part of Halloween, there's a thought in Leas that says it's good to be laid to rest on Lasan (via cremation or sky burial). This comes partly from the legend of Lasan being a night that the city was protected (and so the spirit will be guided to its rest with special care on this night). But the majority of that superstition is associated with one of the gods, so it's more commonly touted by people who favor that god's traditions.

There's also a day in winter (or what passes for winter in Leas) to commemorate one's dead. If spent with family, it's a loud affair where stories are told. If spent alone, it's a quiet and more contemplative affair. In either case, food favored by the deceased is cooked and eaten. This is one of the few "holidays" in Leas (maybe the only? I'd have to flip through my notes) where it's perfectly okay and unquestioned to spend it alone. Grief is different for everyone, after all. There's a similar day in the northernmost city on the continent, though the practices around it are different.

What's the difference between stereotype, archetype and tropes?

Oh this is a fun one! So I first want to say that the difference between these is almost all about context. This is because all of them stem from effectively the same concept which is: (Also, I am not an expert in these matters so I am just giving my personal opinions and viewings on each of these)

A commonly identifiable pattern of behaviors and actions within something.

Stereotypes:

A stereotype is doing this but in the real world. It always stems from biases, propaganda and some truth set in the real world. This is why when someone talks about a stereotype, they always quote the group that it's related to. X is a jewish stereotype, Y is a black stereotype, Z is a white person stereotype. It technically doesn't even need to be negative, like showing a black dude eating fried chicken but not making him less for it, but it can set your audience on edge. After all, it shows potential ignorance in the writer on how that group actually is, sets up for commonly offensive or at least insensitive portrayals of them and a lack of interest in how that group actually is.

Not to say stereotypes aren't used or even enjoyed sometimes by the group being stereotyped. Sometimes the most stereotypical, and extreme, of these jokes about a group will come from that group. That also brings up if it's okay for other groups to use those same jokes though because it's one thing when you're laughing at yourself, it's another when you're laughing at someone else. This is why people push for stories about certain groups to me made by those groups because when they use a stereotype, it's very possible they're just going off their own life experience and it happens to reflect what culture thinks their sort of people behave like.

As an example for myself: In Crises Girlfriends, one of the main signs of depression for one of the characters is that smiling causes anxiety spikes. To others, it may look like a hack decision that is just SOOOOO sad. Depressed people can't smile after all! Well... Yeah, when I'm at my worst, I can't. It literally causes a panic response and so I included it in the story and that will always be my justification for it, even if it looks possibly stereotypical or lazy.

In other words: This is an extremely difficult topic and in general I would probably just suggest avoiding using stereotypes without either personal experience or a sensitivity reader.

Anyways: Archtypes:

An archtype is a character base. That... really is it. So you have the sunshine archtype which quickly gets across in a discussion that X character is usually happy, positive and tries to see the best in things around. A goth archtype implies that the character is moody, wears dark clothes and is usually more serious than other characters in a cast.

The difference between this and a stereotype is that it technically only needs to be normal in media. For a LONG time, nerds were written only as one type of person, the neckbeard in their parent's basement, because that's what writers said nerds were. They were always socially awkward, fat weirdos. Nowadays, a nerd archtype just implies that the person is smart and probably good with some sort of technology or part of pop culture, or have at least a deeper interest in it. Jimmy Olsen from the new Superman show, despite being black, emotionally aware enough to be a wingman to Clark and Lois, etc. like that would still probably count as a nerd archtype because he's still the one with an online presence and obsesses over the occult and paranormal.

Is Jimmy a bad character for that? No... And for the fact that I could describe him beyond the archtype. An archtype is a base after all. If the character is nothing more than their base, the audience will likely have seen it before and get bored. They need to genuinely be their own character. Otherwise, they're a person's first D&D character who just kind of stands in the background because the player is worried about taking up too much of the time they have, screwing up a rule or any other reason that even if their character has potential, it doesn't show because they left the backstory portion of the sheet blank and still haven't come up with one because no one was willing to help them think more broadly about their character besides just what their role in the party is. In media, what role in the story do they have.

As a note: This is why filler is not a bad word to me. Filler is often when you get the flavor of characters but I could do a whole blog about the bullshit response people have towards 'filler'.

Tropes:

This is narrative. Things we see repeated in story after story. It's also why no trope is 100% bad (mostly at least. Fridging still exists after all). A trope exists because enough people agreed that it worked for a certain type of story for audiences to pick up on it as a normal thing for most stories.

One of the most classic examples of this is the third act breakup in romance stories. A moment when the two leads, getting closer and almost being ready to be together, suddenly decide they hate each other for some reason and split apart. This is commonly done through a misunderstanding that communication could fix which is why it's infuriating, much like most uses of liar reveal are. But let's take a step back and ask WHY a third act break up happens normally?

Well... It's the darkest hour. It's when the hero in an action story gets his ass kicked before doing a training montage or a test of strength or will or character to get that power up or edge to fight the big bad. It's the moment in a mystery novel where an important piece of evidence has disappeared, or the murderer is desperate so they kill again! Only for then the detective reveals how the murderer revealed themselves in this act or that they found a different clue.

In something that's just about characters like a romance, it can be hard to have that moment. If the story is literally about nothing else than these two people getting together, then their darkest moment has to be challenging that. It creates tension and a bigger climax than you would get otherwise.

This is also why tropes get tiring though. If the story is doing NOTHING but the trope... You've seen it before and this version has no flavor. Has no bite. There's no reason to feel the swell because you've seen it before and you've probably seen it better.

Conclusion:

All of these center around one base issue that comes from either phoning something in, not caring enough or just being new enough to writing that you're sticking to what's comfortable for you rather than experimenting.

They're all 'safe'. They're all things that any big wig executive actually does want to see because it's tried, it's true so why not do it again? The MCU itself has tropes in its writing now because they have recycled the same jokes and plot points over and over again so while the shows and movies technically aren't a lower quality, they're being seen as less because people want to see something new. Something bolder. That's probably part of Spiderverse's success frankly.

Even now, My Adventure with Superman is being praised as much for what it is as it is for what it's not. A LOOOOT of people are really happy to see Superman being the blue boy scout that so many writers have mocked and 'subverted' over the past decade. Returning to the old trope, to the way of writing him is a breath of fresh air because trying to be clever with him has gotten old to a lot of people. Not helped of course by a lot of the "Evil Superman" media just being bad and this Clark being genuinely interesting and complex. Seriously, go check out My Adventures with Superman.

In the end, it's a delicate balance. Try to subvert too many of these and you lose why these exist in stories, at least for tropes and archtypes. Stereotypes are things you should probably just stay away from unless you're talking from personal experience. Use too many though and your story feels very paint by the numbers and lacks any personal flair which might make it appealing to a mass market but it's not going to make it anything memorable.

But above all else... Just try to be aware. Are you using an archtype? How is your character more than that? Are you using a trope? What is its purpose and how can you maximize the effect or put a personal twist on it? Am I using a stereotype? Do I have a friend of that demographic to run it by? Do I need this element that could be potentially offensive or am I using it for an actual reason?

And if that sounds like a lot of work... Well, writing is like any creative medium. If you want to be really good at it, you have to try. Or pay someone else to tell the story you want. Just because anyone can hold a pencil though doesn't mean everyone can write, regardless of how some people have responded to me when I've opened commissions.

2. What character death for the sake of drama was the worst?

Everett's is pretty bad. They announce that he's dead, then proceed to do an entire 4 issue arc that has nothing to do with him before even explaining what happened. Then, after the explainer, they barely mention him. And I think actually the fact that (similar to the Hellions), his resurrection on Krakoa hasn't featured any of that angst or drama because it's not the direction they want to go with Emma..

But yeah. Transparently done for the drama, to raise the stakes. And, much like with Thunderbird or Darwin in the First Class film, it's a tired racist trope.

3. Who is your most hated comics writer?

Although, there's definitely overall worse writers out there. There are some attrocious comics that I've struggled through. But in general, I'm not one for going out of my way to look up who the writers and artists are for everything I look at. If I remember their name, I remember their name.

And I genuinely think it's not good to get too fixated on these figures, especially when you don't like their work. I've been hyper aware of how fucked up even the valid criticism can get, when it's relentless, large scale and directed at a single person.

So, I guess I'm saying that I hope Gerry doesn't have tumblr.

5. Who mischaracterized [x] the worst?

Monet? Cullen Bunn wrote Uncanny X-Men (2016) so fuck that guy I guess.

Bobby? Whoever had the idea to pair him up with Mystique.

7. What “throwaway” character could they have done more with?

Ooh, there's a lot of good answers to this.

I'll put forward Mel from that first Cap storyline with Nightshade. No reason why they couldn't bring that back and make more out of it, even if he's dead.

Mindmeld. Interestingly, the new character of Escapade is also a trans woman with similar conciousness transfering powers. But they're hardly similar outside of that; there's plenty of room. Bring back Mindmeld.

11. What’s the worst art you’ve seen?

I saw your post with the Greg Land examples. Seconded.

A lot of Liefeld options, obviously.

Sometimes it feels pretty mean to harp on art for not being so good. I get the "they're professionals, they got paid for this" argument, but whatever. Hell, sometimes I like it when the art looks kind of shitty because it gives me hope for my own lol.

But I will say that, for me, when it's that more realistic and hyper-smooth style that was big in the 2005-2015 era, that's when I have the least sympathy. There's so much technical competence on display and yet so often, really poor compositions of the panels and just a sub zero taste level. So yeah, Greg Land.

21. Who’s the most overhyped villain excluding the Joker?

Thanos was more entertaining in his early days when he was goofier.

I think it makes sense that the MCU used him as their first Big Bad, but I personally do not care about him or take him seriously as an existential threat in the slightest lol.

And specifically, I think the effort to rebrand him as a serious, universe destroying, massive big serious scary, manly man scary villain, makes him less fun. And because of the movies, they're going to keep him as the biggest of big bads forever now. Boo.

38. What character that was reduced to a love interest deserves so much better?

Honestly the phrase "reduced to a love interest" is not one I associate with good faith arguments (see: MCU Sharon hate), but there's something to it sometimes.

Most of the examples I can think of are temporary (e.g. Monet is a love interest in Weapon X-Force, Rachel is basically just a love interest in Captain Britain - The former was awful and the latter is... fine). It's not always an issue when it's temporary and done well, but is a problem if it's a rut the character gets stuck in when they're only "so-and-so's partner", or if they're really ooc or the writing is insulting etc... It also doesn't count if they were only ever conceived of as a love interest.

Weirdly, the only character I can think of that this has definitely happened to is Layla Miller, who hasn't been a character outside of Jamie's wife and a mother to their kid for like a decade.

I'm sure there are better examples, I'm just drawing a blank.

Learning Tekken 3 day 9

I've cleared arcade mode with all characters but Mokujin and feel like I have a decent grasp on most of them.

Nina was alright. I think I like her more than Anna, although that might just be placebo since idk how different they really are. Also took some time to learn at least one branch of her chain throw and then proceeded to use half of it once. Is this how King players feel? 🤔

Eddy was very fun, although I still don't really feel like I understand him very well. That being said, spamming kick buttons carried me through arcade mode VERY quickly. In fact, he was my 2nd fastest arcade clear, only beaten by...

Lei was simply not my character. But I did find like three moves that carried me through arcade in a grand total of like 7 minutes. It was lightning fast. I'll learn more of his kit, if only to drive Gon to the bottom of my usage stats. Fuck that little nerd.

Dr Bosconovitch was a headache and took nearly 50 minutes, but I did get there eventually! Not going to play him anymore since it doesn't seem like he's in the newer games, but once I finally understood the core of his moveset I could start to see the potential. That being said, not being able to block most of the time was ass.

Bryan was... ok? I still don't really get what his gameplan is, but his normals are okay and I learned a handful of strings that do fine damage on their own. I guess I'm still not seeing the synergy in his kit though, like, I'm not sure how you're supposed to lead into these strings so I ended up just fishing for them and getting lucky they connected.

Kuma was pretty miserable. I remember trying to learn them as my second character right after my first arcade mode clear and being like "wow, this character is so much worse than Xiaoyu" and you know what? I was right. Kuma seems pretty dogshit. Slow startup on most normals, some unblockables that are damn near impossible to hit on anyone with a better reaction time than the dead plant in my front lawn, and overall stubby kicks that make my muscle memory for panic options backfire HARD. Not a fan, but the clear did happen.

Julia is pretty involved. She seems almost like a more technical but more rewarding version of Xiaoyu, but without knowledge on how to string together her hit confirms, she's mediocre at best. Not sure how true that is, but that's my gut feeling.

Ogre didn't click with me. Too many options to learn all at once, and just not enough simple options for me to lean on in the learning process. I was actually doing fine up until Heihachi, who I stalled on for probably about 20 minutes. I feel like his gameplan is incompatible with newer players, because he seems to have about a million options to throw out at a moment's notice, but when you only know like 6 moves, he's much less threatening.

True Ogre has the same issue, but with the exception that one of the only moves I knew was a flying fire breath attack that was unblockable and very good at cheesing the AI. It took half the time to beat arcade mode with this form, and ironically most of that time was spent fighting base form Ogre. Still not my character, but the cheese makes him less frustrating to play at least.

My goal now is to play enough with my lesser-used characters to kick Gon to the bottom of my usage leaderboard. So I went back and started with Law, which was pretty uneventful. Next up is Anna. Once I'm done with that, I'll feel comfy enough to try clearing with Mokujin, and then it's time to focus on my serious characters and really hone in on them. Xiaoyu is obviously at the top of that list, but Jack isn't far behind. I also want to give King another shot now that I have a feel for chain throws, but I'm not expecting much there tbh. Once I have characters' movesets mapped out, it'll be time to practice schmovement. Assuming tekken 3 has schmovement anyways, I guess I haven't checked yet.

We Could Be Heroes Introspection

I do have to say that it is always crazy the day after NaNo ends and I don’t have to write.  I mean, sure, I write these things, but they’re more word vomit and me wanting to talk about things I was thinking about while writing, or before writing, that I couldn’t say while writing.  It’s nothing serious.

So…We Could Be Heroes.  I realized a couple of days ago that I wrote this book for the first time (well, not counting the one that I only wrote five chapters for) exactly three years ago, during the year that I had attempted to write more than once, and totally got myself screwed over multiple times.  So I thought that was rather hilarious.  Technically, unlike WfS, I could have literally gone through and just edit this one, because I did like what I had.

But it would require heavy editing in the beginning, thanks to the fact that I had changed Lane’s place of business and a couple of details when I rewrote WfS, and I had fun with that one.  So this was just a ‘screw it’ rewrite.  There were a couple of things that I had wanted to change between the old version and this one, anyway.

I do have to say that, while writing the first chapter, I was a little worried that I wasn’t going to have the same sort of experience I had with WfS.  With WfS, I had spent a couple months going through scenes in my head and I was all mentally prepared, even if it turned out that I didn’t have an outline like I thought I had.  It didn’t matter in the end.  But WCBE?  Either I didn’t have enough time to prepare or else I was suffering though the fact that I hadn’t wanted to change much about it, but that first chapter felt horrible to write.

But then the second chapter came together naturally, and I spent the rest of the month fairly focused on the story and what was coming next, so it worked out.  :D

One of the things I hadn’t planned on changing was when Lane found out about who Specter and Speedy were, but it makes things make more sense.  In the first version, she found out before Greg was taken, and it’s like…why didn’t she try to talk to them sooner?  She knows they have a ship, and she knows them.  Having her find out when she does and jump on the chance flows a little better.

Also, I didn’t want to make her soon so depressed.  She’s going through the motions, sure, and she’s a little lost without Greg around.  But she’s also more driven to do something, to figure out how to get him back, even if it meant it could take years.  Her sleeping with Miles, even if they were literally just doing that, didn’t make any sense.  It was meant to show how close they were, but it was also somewhat icky.  She spends most nights alone, anyway, so why would she need someone there?

Also took out the weird undertones that Miles still had a thing for Lane.  Like, I had sort of intended for Miles to actually be bi, but the only girl he loved had been Lane, and he was over that.  But it was brought up so much, and his chapter, he seemed obsessed with her.  Making him fully gay takes that away.  Like, yes, he had a crush on her in middle school, back when he was still trying to stick to societal norms that guys should like girls.  Lane was a girl who he liked spending time with, she’s nice, and she’s pretty, so that must mean he liked liked her, right?

But that all fell apart when he realized he liked liked Greg more, and…yeah.

The big thing I wanted to change was how Lane got into the palace.  I think I originally planned it differently, where she was taken while they were wandering around the city, but the idea was still there that it wasn’t any fault of her own that it happened.  Having her waltz into the palace without telling anyone was just…weird. 

I also made Livianus less oblivious.  I ended up really liking Livianus the first go around, and as a result, wanted to make his character better.  Like, the only reason he was bothering Greg as much as he was was merely because his parents were forcing him to get Greg to start acting like a ‘proper’ member of the royal family.  Livianus was perfectly fine leaving him alone to sulk for a while.  And rescuing Lane was because he heard about some bright haired girl in the slave room, and he wanted to save her because he knew how people would react upon seeing her.

The thing I regret is not having Roselyn do more.  Like, I had it planned where Livianus was going to entrust Lane to Roselyn to watch her and hang out with her.  But then I ended up just rewriting the scenes as they were, in a sense, and Roselyn was relegated to just being there and sometimes helping.  But she’s also supposed to be, like, hidden in the shadows most of the time, so I suppose it works out.

The last couple of chapters I sort of went off the old ones in terms of scenes and some dialogue, and there was a lot that I liked from the old version that got cut from the new version, although I wasn’t sure how I managed to write more when I was writing those scenes, lol.  There were a couple of conversations that revealed bits of the characters that didn’t happen the same way, and I’m sort of sad.  But I’m also fine with it, because I do have a couple more books in while to reveal that information.

The funny thing about this Camp was just my scheduling.  See, for whatever reason at the end of last month, they needed to cut a bunch of people’s hours, including myself, so I went from working until 2:30 to working until 2.  But then, my parents went on basically a two week vacation, where my hubby took off one week and I took off the next, which gave me even more time to write after work because I didn’t have to pick up the kids.  And then, of course, my vacation, and when I returned, my schedule was still messed up.  I just sort of rolled with it, because I figured what the hell for July?

But then I also noticed, thanks to the fact that I’m old now, I don’t need as much sleep as I once did, so I also got up a half an hour earlier each day so I can try to get a page or so out before work.  I even did this one the weekends, which was cool, since I could get most of the chapter done before tie girls woke up and then finish it up after breakfast and before we did anything for the day. 

And then, somehow, my schedule went back to normal this week, which is perfect.  It’s just too bad I couldn’t have gotten one more shorter day for my bonus chapter, lol.  But I’m honestly looking forward to not getting up crazy early to write, and sleeping in a bit.  >.<

I did manage to figure out a good chunk of the plot for the third book, called Trustfall, in the past couple of days, which I’m excited about.  I had more plot for the fourth book than the next one.  >.<  But, at the moment, I’m still planning on doing Division in November, mostly because I don’t want to wait another year before I get back to that story, lol.  My muse was sort of hovering between both stories at one point in the month, so we’ll see what happens going forward.

Overall, I am super happy with what I wrote.  Its just funny, because the reason I stopped writing this book the very first time was because I found out I was pregnant and I got all depressed at the idea that I couldn’t be creative and write anymore, and here I am, six years later, having figured it all out and making it work.  :D

Summary: Skating with Steven = super fun, would recommend doing it again.

"Y/n! Love! "Look at what I have" Steven is excitedly showing you an advertisement poster. He just got home from work and hasn't even taken off his jacket yet.

This is nothing new to Y/n as Steven frequently brings home anything he finds interesting. She was perplexed as to how her boyfriend could find so many things when he only took one route to work every day. 

Maybe next time, her boyfriend will even bring home a puppy from nowhere. Y/n sighs in defeat while looking at what is on Steven's hand.

"New skating... open... free tickets" You mumbled out a few words while reading the poster carefully.

So this is what gets Steven so excited. He must really love ice skating, but... what about you?

"Baby, it looks interesting, but I don't know how to skate. I can't even stand straight on ice!" Y/n's face is full of nervousness while looking at Steven.

She have known him for years, but doing embarrassing things in front of your boyfriend is a no-no. No girl would put themselves in a situation like that.

Steven (being the affectionate person that he was) pulled Y/n close and encouraged her it would be a fun experience, plus he would help with the skating stuff too.

How can Y/n say no to that?

"All right, now h-hold on to my shoulder, I'll guide you love." Steven is stuttering while trying his best to not laugh at how you look.

Your whole body shakes like a leaf, legs wobbling and face sweating. Steven didn't expect you to be this scared, but your grip on his shoulder proves him wrong.

"Slow- slower! I can't keep up" Y/n said while looking down. She feels like a new born baby learning how to walk for the first time.

It had only been 15 minutes and Y/n was already cursing and crying inside. Everything hurt, her legs, her foot, her back, everything!

Steven doesn't look any better, his face full of concern, and despite the fact that his shoulder hurt from your constant gripping on it, he decided to say nothing to make the situation less awkward.

After taking a few good looks at your face, Steven decided it was time to let you sit down for a bit and have a rest. It hurt him to see you in pain. "Let's get you to those benches, yea? Don't worry, you're almost there, love." 

Maybe Y/n were right, this isn't a good ideal, Steven feels guilty for pushing you out of your boundaries. But the worst has yet to come.

"STEV-" *tHUMP* "Ouch..."

It all happened so quickly. Steven slipped on ice; and while he tried to wave his arm around to get the balance back, his hand accidentally hit Y/n, making her fall backward with a loud *thud* sound.

"Oh my...are you alright, dear? Oh my, I'm so sorry. Are you hurt? Please say something. You're okay, right? Technically, people can't die from a fall like this, but- heY! This is serious how could you laugh!" Steven's rant was cut off by the sound of your laughter. And even after helping you get up, you still won't stop laughing.

He thinks the fall must somehow damage your brain while you just think he is a dork and the whole situation deserves a good laugh. Of course it hurt like hell, but it is not worth fussing over your boyfriend.

"I'm okay, I'm okay! It only hurt a bit, but I'm hungry now. Can we go get something to eat?" Y/n tried to change the topic so Steven wouldn't get worried anymore, but he kept looking at her with two hands fidgeting.

"Stevie baby? Something wrong?"

"Well I wanna help you soothe the pain... but that means I will also touch your butt and I don't want you to think wrong of me! I mean it in an innocent way, I would never touch your butt without your consent-"

"STEVEN!"

"OKAY LETS GO EAT THEN"

Y/n can't help but let out another laugh, maybe their home won't need a puppy, there is already one standing in front of her here.
