Lately I've been working on developing a good illustration style again. I'm trying for something that's between my sketch style and a full painting that I also do not hate doing, which means it needs to have no/limited lineart and can't require the use of one billion layers. Originally I was going to do three versions of the same picture and post all of them at once, but then I decided to do something different for the second one, so I'm just posting this one now...

The style in this piece was heavily inspired by yutaan, an artist on here that I've followed and admired for a really long time. She does a lot of papercraft as well as some digital illustrations. The elements of her style that I was focusing on including here were mostly the minimalistic use of lines and shading seen in her papercraft work + bringing some color into the deepest shadows. Some of her style gets lost because I didn't do the heavy stylization she does, and I think I still over-rendered some things (old habits die hard), but overall I learned a lot and am pretty happy with how it turned out!

I also tried using the lasso tool to select areas to color, loish-style, and I didn't love it but I think that's more of an operator error on my part, so I may work with that more.

One thing I appreciate about G Gundam it’s illustrated that you can still make something look visually appealing without every scene be heavily shaded or shaded at all, a lot of weekly animes back then lacked shading but something about G just pulls it off- now I just wish I could figure out HOW to do that for my own art cause I hate shading 🤡

As far as I have planned he does still die despite PV's attempts to prevent it (that part of the story I am still figuring out for this AU. It's kinda hard to do when Silent Salt is . Y'know kinda Not here yet and like the silver kingdom stuff is Lily's initial arc in crk so it would be salt's initial arc in this AU. But I can't really figure out what their arc will be here until I have an actual character for them. I have like one idea for them that I'm like praying will still be in-character by the time we actually get them and that won't need to be overhauled dndndnnd)
