Can I just say thank you to everyone who has been good about tagging their Help Wanted 2 spoilers? I'm not being as diligent with it as I was for Security Breach in general, but it is one that I want to try to experience as much as I can when I can actually play it (word is there will be a Non-VR version soon-ish? Last day of mer may and my Moon design is finally done!!! I got inspo from the blanket octopus and shadow leviathan from Subnautica Zero. I went back and forth with wanting to make this boyo partially transparent and honestly, I only didn't because it would have made the coloring take longer lol. Because I played Subnautica to help get me inspired and motivated to finally tackle making designs for Sun and Moon (will do Eclipse but not any time soon sadly) I envision them in that environment but they don't have to be limited to that game, so to all my fanfic authors out there if you like either design and want to use them please do (and send me a link so I can read it hehehee~)

I was first thinking of the scar on his chest to be something caused by Sun but idk

It looks like the two lithographic prints are this mural (which is from the 2020 TGA teaser iirc) and this art of Solas with a wolf by Matt Rhodes (which is from the Gamescom 2020 video iirc). The packaging's color theme-ing is black and gold, reminding of this version (that pic is from 2021) of the game's branding/color theme-ing, and also of course bringing to mind the Golden/Black City. the Golden/Black City was featured on the vinyl cover arts.

The knife here on this cover looks like the 'blue lyrium' [?] dagger, but also simultaneously not like it.

This artbook cover one is more gnarled in appearance and the 'ring' of the handle isn't complete (the way the 'broken' handle could almost be an Evanuris headpiece-shape... if it was a bit more symmetrical, it would look like Elgar'nan's headpiece).

It has extra spiky bits protruding off it too and it looks like something is growing on it. Maybe this is what happens if/when the blue [lyrium?] dagger becomes red (Blighted)? because this gnarled kinda vibe reminds me a bit of Meredith's sword Certainty in DA2, and of that body horror way in which red lyrium growth looks on people. It also reminds me of the tendrils of Blight corruption on walls and the ground and stuff in DA:TV screenshots, and the gnarled red lyrium darkspawn we've seen (look at this darkspawn's back for example).

Or maybe there's simply more than one dagger? There's two rising Evil Gods.

in the background of that image is the now-familiar geometric patterning with the concentric rings around the outside that tend to represent the Veil, and also the multiple almooost-overlapping circles/spheres inside that is suggestive of an eclipse* (something which we can see in the DA:TV screenshot with the dragon, which keeps coming up, which speaks to a lot of the pertinent imagery/symbolism e.g. Elgar'nan overthrowing his father the Sun and darkening the sky, and something which to me makes sense in a Witcher-style Conjunction of the Spheres kinda vibe, multiple realms colliding, like, if you tear down the Veil, you're bringing two 'bodies' or realms together to 'overlap' once again - the Fade and the waking world). [*in the 'eclipse' link there it's just searching the word on my blog btw, since I've banged on and on about that lots before and I don't wanna repeat myself loads in this post hhh]. the placement of the dagger over that design and what it represents makes sense; as we saw in the gameplay reveal video, the dagger was part of Solas' ritual to tear down the Veil/move the Evanuris prison.

On this cover, we can see two eyeballs in two of the corners (the eyes remind me of the Inquisition hairy eyeball, the eye motifs cropping up around Lucanis, Pride, and the Fade peacock feather/eye motif [image from this post]). in the other two corners is a sword that reminds again of Certainty. Meredith brandishing the sword is part of this DA:TV mural in the bottom left, underneath Ghil. surely not a coincidence. :D maybe a Certainty-like sword is the final corrupted form of the dagger, or one of them? in TN, the red lyrium idol changed shape enough that a ritual-blade sprang from its base.

the background of this middle cover also contains triangles, reminding of ancient elven artifacts and ancient elven magic-tech (like with Bellara, the Veil Jumpers etc) and the recurring triangle symbols in DA art around Fade/Veil/magic-y stuff (example from the Tevinter Nights map below).

The cover on the right has more geometric patterns, circles, rings etc. (all these patterns remind of the art in the vinyl booklet btw). and, in the center, the eye again. 👁️

Been meaning to complete theses for a while now but I only got one finished.

Uh, back when I made my Eclipse Birthday art many people liked my Servant Eclipse and God Eclipse, and wanted refs. But I had made them on the spot and didn’t really think about their designs, but I did promise I would. But I only have Servants done.

Celestial Sundown AU Eclipse

I designed the fella that's been rattling around my brain for the past week. I am gently holding him out to you, please treat him with love and care

He is made up of the sun and moon gods Sunna and Meno, not Day and Night. Yeah, my AU gets TWO sets of Daycare Attendants, look at me go

Sun and Moon are the gods of day and night, but they're only called Sun and Moon in certain cultures, one of those being your own. Technically, though it holds great importance to their roles, they are not, in title, the actual gods of the sun and the moon. Eclipse is a fusion between the sun god and the moon god, Sunna and Meno.

Meno was mistakenly created very weak, and was sure to pass away in many, many years. When they created the sun god, Sunna was made to be twice as strong, so that when Meno inevitably ceased to be, Sunna would still be able to use the day to push the night away and continue the sun and moon's cycle after its counterpart was gone. This was agreed upon, and understood.

They ended up loving each other very deeply over the years, though. And so when the moon's life finally came to an end, the sun refused and used all of the doubled power it was created with to fuse the moon's life to its own. Sunna turned the two of them into a horrible, painful abomination of all eyes just to keep his loved one alive. The other gods attempted to destroy this form multiple times, but Sunna would always piece their form back together again until they stopped trying. Eclipse was instead locked away until he woke back up, hence the broken chains.

Their dynamic has since then grown strained within their shared body, Meno insistent that they just rest already and to stop messing with the natural order of things. We prepared for this, you knew this would happen. Why would you do this to us now? And Sunna adamant that Meno is GOING to survive, no matter what. They often argue, frustrated in their poorly-made existence, but they still love each other more than anything, and will frequently remind each other that they do and always will.

Sunna is often more in control of the body than Meno is, but Meno still unconsciously affects the body's behaviours and mannerisms. Eclipse can still be referred to as one person, because Sunna and Meno can slip into the background and merge their personalities into one. Sunna's extreme will to survive combined with Meno's lack of mortal fear can make Eclipse... a tad feral, if you will.

Sun and Moon (also known as Day and Night) were created because of this, and were somewhat based off of Sunna and Meno in creation. The day and night cycle came to a halt without the sun and moon gods, and so Day and Night were created to put things back in working order.

You meet Eclipse while searching the Celestial Realm for Sun, temporarily mistaking Eclipse for him instead.

Okay, I was really excited for this one! Last picture for Chapter 16!

I loved the big reveal, so much. The big fight? The destruction of their home? The continuous tender reassurances of Eclipse while y/n is having The Worst Time? The hand kiss? The final “oh” moment? Strike me down my heart can’t take it. The devotion and care in the later half of the chapter really warm my heart. There’s just this feeling of “FINALLY…” as the secret comes out and hard HARD earned communication and healing can start. Of course then there’s a certain misunderstanding that happens later but we’ll come back to that! You really feel for Eclipse and just how much he’s been hiding and suffering for so long. Meep’s little animation of his sigh as he turns to face y/n lives in my head rent free.

ANYWAYS! I touched this one up digitally because my graphite couldn’t get dark enough to make the blood stand out the way I wanted, hence the gaping white wound.

I really wanted to do a picture of Shoh striking the airstream and then another of y/n looking down on the destroyed airstream but, my dudes. I am Tired. And still have several more pictures to go! Also, there are like, no reference pictures of airstreams fallen from cliffs. Awfully inconvenient if you ask me.

I’ve got the next picture done already but want to wait till I finish the other picture I did for chapter 17 to post it, so expect more soon!

with him i have an ending

okay i want to explain some of my thought process for this one. i started it for the vsz week prompt "gods/worship" (and obviously did not finish it in time), where i wanted to do something with depictions of sainthood in medieval art and the imagery in illuminated manuscripts.

i took the basic idea of the pose from (many versions of) st michael and the dragon, switched around so that despite keeping the original power balance intact, zam is the one being impaled; in defeating vitalasy, he's forcing his hand to hurt himself. if it was up to zam, vitalasy would have retaliated and proven him right post-betrayal, but that isn't how it goes.

zam is holding the inverted eclipse shield subz gave him after the betrayal. i drew him in my wormhole design in reference to the final conversation they have, where zam is using the idea that he's broken beyond repair as a shield to avoid having to engage with vitalasy. in short: i'm trying to visually portray the contradiction present in needing someone to hurt you to maintain your worldview/sense of self, when they don't want to do that.

the lyric in the caption is from heartland, which is an album about struggles for authorial control, and resentment over how someone else portrays you, and a shift from complete belief in someone/something towards that resentment... where authorial power is conflated with godhood. (it is also about gay romance.)

finally finished my base edit of my redesigns of the MLP princesses! base credit goes to sleepymoss on dA. i've been having a very hard time drawing lately, and base edits help a lot with helping me still draw while not requiring too much energy. regardless, this still took a while.

some headcanons below the cut!

each of the princesses have the colors of their eyes and some aspect of their designs influenced by major events in their life.

for cadance, this was repairing the crystal heart and saving the crystal empire from sombra (with the help of twilight, of course). this granted her the blue hue to her wings and eyes, and the blue streaks in her hair.

for twilight, this was at the same moment she became an alicorn after unlocking her true power when it came to magic; her colors were pink and orange!

for luna, she gained her silvery and blue colors when she returned to equestria and rebuilt her bond with her sister, celestia. her starry hair shifts colors and brightness based mostly on her emotions and what she's doing. during a solar eclipse, her hair is completely white and leaves a trail of shimmering dust behind her when she walks and flies. when the princesses' magic was taken by the storm king and tirek, her hair turned to just deep blue-black hair.

for celestia, this was the moment she used the elements of harmony to banish luna to the moon. she took some of the elements' power within herself, and that power just grew in the time she was raising the sun and moon on her own. this power manifests in the outer 'aura' of color in her hair, which shifts and changes color according to the time of day. her true hair is the pink and orange inner layer. when her magic was taken, the outer layer disappeared entirely, and she felt almost naked without it.

this is how they will be appearing in my next gen, as well! some aspects of their designs have been changed to fit the show style of the base, though, but i will keep those aspects a surprise <3

next up will be the mane 6 i think! probably another base edit tbh...

IT IS DONE.

SO. These two are part of my new AU, The Eclipse Protocol, which is a futuristic story in which reader is a tech with big dreams of starting their own workshop in the big city of Nebula Valley - THE mecha when it comes to all things animatronics. Animatronics are a common sight everywhere thanks to FazCo, despite that company having gone completely bankrupt over a 100 years ago. Actual genuine FazCo animatronics are extremely rare nowadays as most were destroyed in the company’s final days.

And the last thing reader expects is to come across a quaint little antique store full of old vintage junk… and two very old, very broken but definitely very real Daycare Attendant animatronics in desperate need of some TLC.

So aside from Sun and Moon there’s also these two. On the right we have a certified Golden Boy™ named Celestino and his design was inspired by Japanese kintsugi (google it, it’s pretty!). And on the left we have Apollo, inspired by Chinese porcelain.

Celestino and Apollo were both Daycare Attendants at one point in their lives (there were lots of Pizzaplexes back in the day) and were among the few who escaped decommissioning. They have their own share of FazCo related demons so uh, good luck to reader dealing with all of that.
