They're old men who made their divorce the problem of every young person in their lives <3. 100 years ago during the Great Turf War between inklings and octarians, Craig and Octavio were the chosen ambassadors of their respective species. They got along well, but unfortunately found themselves on opposite sides of the war. During one of the battles Craig shot Octavio in the heart. The inlkings won the war and the octarians were forced underground. For years afterward both men grew bitter towards each other, and eventually Octavio attacked the new Squidbeak Splatoon (a group of secret agents recruited by Craig). Octavio lost both times and got imprisoned in a giant snow globe (and Craig calls him cute). In the latest game Octavio got over his hatred for Inklings (Craig's species) and used his flying mech to help defeat the BBEG of the game. After the final fight, Craig said something to the effect of 'that old rascal turned out to be not so bad!'.

Alright ok hear me out! These two old men have fought in wars for their races against each other and have the craziest pathetic old man homoerotic tension ever. They like, went from at least respecting each other before the war and then they were forced to fight each other and then when Cuttlefish's side won, Octavio went underground like a pathetic lil wet cat and later on he kidnapped Cuttlefish because of game related reasons and both of them still have way too much homoerotic tension!!! And then Octavio gets owned and then in the second game Octavio decides that "Hey actually, lets kidnap Cuttlefish's granddaughter" and the old man isnt even there cause hes busy being a pathetic old man in the under-underground!!! Only thing she's got on her is a half filled notebook tucked away in a pocket, small but hers, full of scribbles, sketches, mons long extinct in some cases, unusual variants, some kid he's never seen, Val, scenery. Plum in particular thumbs through it for a long while, unaware that this woman had any artistic skill, but it had to be her right? Thats her hand writing... some of it in Ancient Hisuian????? A pretty dead language these days. She said she was from Sinnoh but didnt expect this level of knowedge from her.

Takes 13 hours for her to wake up, the longest 13 hours theyve sat through, neither able to sleep, pacing around the house. When she's finally awake, totally buzzed from painkillers, nothing feels real, its out of body, touching stuff is abstract, the feeling is all wrong, heads fuzzy, she hit the deck pretty hard during the battle with Arcaeus, body went through a lot, she recalls falling for a long time, the impact should have broken her back, cracked her head, but here she is. She must be dead, this is a dream, being back home again like this is not new, she's had this dream so many times since leaving.

It is Val, waking in the ICU and demanding Booker comes to see her immediatly that is the turning point. Since peach left, she'd used taste to ground herself, when dreams felt too real, when reality felt off, taste stays the same. There when youre awake, gone if youre in a dream, or even an illusion. Val tells the Teddiursa to get some potent tasting berry and force feed Peach, only then will she realise this is the real timeline she was suppost to be in. Bob ambles in and sits with Val for the rest of her rest, old friends.

Once Peach realises she's home, truly, her thoughts immediatly go to her partner, and despite dizzy head and a body full of breaks and bruises, she gets on her feet, staggers her way to the labs, finds her partner, in just a bad a way as she is. The two sit together and say nothing, they dont need to. She waits until Val wakes up again, in and out of rest, petting bob as he dozes close. They've gone through hell and back, and now, with her partner, she makes the joke, the one she's sat on the whole time, recalling their original weekend holiday plans.

"Maybe we'll get to go camping now." knowing neither want to be anywhere but curled up at home right now. They fought god and came out alive, fuck camping.

Days pass recovering, neither well, but alive, repairing, it takes time. And in that time, Peach tells her loved ones everything, every lie, every hidden secret, all out on the table, Val even shares some memories with Grey and Plum, who have both a million questions, and new found deep understanding for her personlaity and behaviours now. She is sorry, painfully so, and sees she's made a lifetime of mistakes, too afraid to lose what she'd gained, the good in her life something she was not willing to risk, but in being secretive, she was putting them in danger. If they left now, she would understand, theyre free to do whatever they need to. Grey looks at Plum, a moment passing, before the pair get up. Peach thinks to leave, accepting it, but they wrap her up in their arms and squeeze as much as her damaged body can take.

They're sad for her, she has not had it easy by any means, but after being handed that shitshow of a childhood, Peach made something good of her life, and that takes real strength.

he shows genuine kindness to the player and has an actual interest in what theyre doing. hes the first person to come looking for you when you get kicked out and i truly believe the only reason this is the only time he sells you items at this point in the game is for the sake of the game not letting you have infinite free items.

hes part of a group of people who are mostly extinct or just gone, and have been replaced by people not native to hisui (old verses imply that the diamond and pearl clans are from a different region, its not just the people of jubilife)

he tells you hes been through very terribly times in his life and has been hurt by it. he seeks out his god only to find what is essentially the devil and is influenced by it, being led astray. but even giratina after being stopped by the player tries to redeem itself in the future, why cant volo do the same.

and once volo is stopped? he STILL cares about the player and their goals, wanting them to finish the hisui dex.

hes not evil, hes just troubled and genuinely has good intentions, he was just led astray by a pokemon that has been through a similar situation, cast away from its peers and left on its lonesome.

so yes, i do think volo deserves to have togekiss.

You know bugs and really old nature stuff right? Do you know if its true that bugs used to be a lot bigger in the past because there was more oxygen so they could support being bigger more. i dont remember where i heard it and im skeptical

okay so the specific time period everyone's always (indirectly at least, for some reason nobody names it) referencing for the "more oxygen" thing is the carboniferous, 350-290 mya. its when the vast majority of our coal today came from because the land was almost entirely big swamps and its also when almost every land animal got a foothold and really really diversified finally (and yeah insects were one of many)

we have absolutely no idea if there was more oxygen back then! people are still arguing about it. but if there was that would explain some things because the reason insects dont get that big today is they have a cap on how large they can get before they literally cannot breathe, im pretty sure? they dont breathe through lungs like we do, they breathe through little spiracles in their abdomens. its too much for me to understand usually im a bug enthusiast but not an expert

however regardless of that it did give us eight foot long millipedes (arthropluera <3) so i think the reason doesn't matter that much. because we got eight foot long millipedes and that's what is truly important

the reason there wasn't really anything that big after that is probably because there was a minor extinction called the carboniferous rainforest collapse towards the end caused by a very short cooling period. which. if you dont have big rainforests to hide in suddenly i do not think you'd survive very long sjfjfjgnj

i dont know as much about the insects as compared to everything else i just think the carboniferous is cool. it gave us cool things such as many many coal forest amphibians AND its also when sauropsids and synapsids split off from eachother. sauropsids being reptiles and synapsids being mammals (us <3)

theres a little woodsy park near my house just within easy walking distance which is easy to get into regardless of time of day or night and has an incredible hill where you can sit under an oak tree in the tall grass and watch the sun or the moon come up or set depending on time of day and year and i love love love it one of the only good things about my town i go up there for my Rituals And Things gkjhsf

absolutely all american pacific northwest shit i love a temperate rainforest with redwoods and doug firs and such and then the deciduous layer underneath all ferns and moss and little creeks and then the harsh cliffs down to the beach all cold and foggy and windy. that's where i Belong easy peasy. i do also associate the more aggressively californian Beige Grassy Hills With Lonely Scrappy Little Coast Live Oaks or Valley Oaks On Top type biome with home and growing up, but its always been a little too harsh and dry and sunny for me here.

o god thats hard i love wildflowers. im a sucker for daisies, obv, and i love forget-me-nots and california poppies and indian paintbrush and columbine and and and

o no thats hard too!!!!! ummm probably oak trees, especially white oaks like the valley oak or the oregon white oak, especially the really big old wise looking ones, but i also adore sequoioideae and other conifers, unsurprisingly, and rowans and apple trees among others hold personal spiritual significance, and theres this specific kind of maple or sweetgum idk what it is but they grew outside the theatre i grew up in so they always make me nostalgic. OH and i LOVE the smell of california bay laurel thats the Good Summertime Smell for me

ep 13: listen, i think wayne winning is fine. do i love himbos? yes. was i rooting for him in the finale? yes. in the grand scheme of things, do i think he is a good finalist? no. we can all agree that hes very much an owen, and i dont mind that!! i actually think having a fan favorite, comic relief, underdog third party winning makes sense in this season, because i dont think caleb or julia winning would be a satisfying end (especially how they were handling them by the end)

caleb's story was messy, and at the end of the day (and i know that the intentions changed), he did start his alliance with priya to use her. him winning, after all of the drama, after priya was gone, wouldve just idk felt shitty. he did get the girl in the end, which concludes his story better than him winning it. (if im comparing this to the tdi 2007 final three,, i guess hes the gwen)

as for julia, she had two seasons to be villain, and it was amazing. she is so good at what she does and she is such a joy to watch. and we all know how total drama handles its villains, they need to get their comeuppance. did bowie double cross her last season? yes. and she came back still was the main villain and was AMAZING at it. but she was still the villain for another 13 episodes, AND HER GETTING PRIYA OUT LAST EPISODE, she cant win. was her just desserts satisfying? meh. nice callback to heather (we all know julia is the heather of this comparison), though i can understand people who dont like this callback and think its tiring or something. they couldve done something else, but im not mad (i kinda fuck with the mullet). i just see no satisfying way for julia to win with how she was presented in these seasons: she was not world tour heather, with three full length seasons and a greater threat to overcome; she was island heather, and therefore could not win.

overall thoughts of the season:

im someone that thinks the hockey bros jokes nearly always land, so i enjoy the shit out of them (i think im in the majority?)

im someone that did not like priyaleb at first, grew to being more neutral about it, but still found it to be a bit tiring. i like priya, i like caleb, i dont like tiring romantic subplots, and it sucks that that was the entire thing for these characters this season

the julia mk duo was AMAZING, one of the highlights of this season and one that i never wouldve expected to be real. mkulia wins in my heart and i hope they start their podcast (JULIA WAS GOIGN TO USE THE MONEY TO START THE PODCAST WITH MK HOLY SHIT GIRL IS IN LOVE)

it sucks that certain characters really got nothing this season (millie, nichelle, emma, and even axel to an extent).. but i get that characters like millie and emma already had a lot of screentime last time and someone has to be an early boot (just realize the ones i listed off were all women,, damn the writers fr just hate women)

at the end of the day, i really enjoyed this season. and i think the most important part of that enjoyment was this was the first time i got to watch a season and have no idea what was going to unfold. i watched the first four season of total drama when they were airing, but i was a little kid with poor comprehension skills. the first three seasons aired before i knew how to read (i learned to read late). and with tdpi, rr, and tdi 2023, i watched them after the fact and knew who the winners were going in. this was the first season i watched were i truly did not know the winner, and that added to my enjoyment. not to mention this being the one and only time i was present in an online space to talk about show as the episodes dropped. this season was a bit messy here and there, but it delivered some great stuff. i found myself laughing out loud and just having a good time, which is all i need out of my silly little cartoon

SO we have just today gotten high rez images of all the hollow mind portraits and boy are they fun to look through, but I want to SPECIFICALLY DISCUSS one of them

THAT is Flora D'splora.

That's Lilith's old mentor. She's a historian and an archaeologist.

Now. Every image from. Hollow mind is significant. Theyre his childhood with Caleb, cutting his ears, glyph magic, making and killing Grimwalkers. But then there's this one with evil smile flora. What's up with that? What could possibly be so important about her?

Well all of these images are tweeted in what seems to be chronological order and I find the placement very interesting

Because see, the very next image is the Grimwalker lab and then the dead Grimwalkers. And before flora, no Grimwalkers.

And we KNOW he's been making Grimwalkers for centuries so... Why would she appear before them? Why would this one image be out of order?

Here is my crackpot left field theory: it's not

Flora is a historian and an archaeologist. Grimwalkers are a near myth extinct creature. As in, old knowledge that no longer exists. Unless, perhaps, rediscovered by an archaeologist.

The thing I immediately found strange about Flora upon a first watch is how young she looks. She was supposedly Lilith's mentor and Lilith is like 45 years old. Meaning flora has to be like at minimum 60, 70 years old. She... She does not look 60 or 70 years old to me.

We see that he's discovered you can live forever with palismen several panels before. Perhaps... He is not the only person who is much older than they should be. Also what better occupation could there be than historian specializing in the deadwardian era than a person who lived during the deadwardian era?

That's my wild crackpot theory. Flora D'splora is also several centuries old and involved in the creation of Grimwalkers.

I need to COMPLAIN.

This is gonna sound edgy nerdy not so girblogger coded but let me getto out of my silly girlie pop character for a minute i am RAGING.

For context two days ago i suddenly remembered that WEBTOON exists after trowhing it in a black hole in my mind, so i re download it and i start reading one. Apart from the endorphines i forgot a good webtoon gave me,

I finished it in a couple of days, and as i usually did when concluding a webtoon, a comic or any possible thing i liked, i start looking for the edits so i can imagine myself being in that universe while playing them.

Getting to the point. I am in DISAPPOINT.

What the fuck are these dry stupid no personality rage triggering edits.

They are MID.

I had to scroll through YEARS to find the good ones.

So i started my reaserches.

First of all, i got to the sad conclusion that instagram edits are going through extinction.

Back in the days (☝🏻) when tik tok (musically for the ancient) wasn't that big of a thing for edits, you went on instagram (at least i did!!) And they were TOP TIER.

Masterpieces.

I would've hanged them on my walls if they were physical.

They were energetic, fresh, powerful, you could tell who's edits were by they're style because the editor's styles were so different one another.

They fitted the medias perfectly and don't let me start on the transitions.

They were immaculate.

Perfect to the millimeter.

These type of edits made me immerge in the media even more, i had my favourite edits saved, (a LOT), and i watched them every night before going to sleep multiple times, they were a lullaby to the mind.

But on my trip to these new (and few) Instagram edits... I was horrified.

First of all, no character whatsoever is put in these digital scums, the personal style is gone.

Probably due to these ages generations who wants to look the same be one another fit into something precise (I dont have the strength to start another fuss I'll just keep going with my silly polemic) but the transitions.

They are MID MID MID even terrible.

Actually I hate them.

There is not an ounce of effort in those disturbing sliding of images.

There isn't flow, variations,good blends. They all look like they were made by 10 year olds (wich is prob the case) and don't tell me oh it's just the age they'll learn as they grow.

No.

I want the twelve year old freaks that edited like it was they're last day on earth.

Like theyre life depended on it.

Where did they go?!?

What's wrong with this generation? why didn't they pick up the heredity theyre ancestors gave them?

Why did they throw it all away?

Why are they descending into this madness abyss?

And the music choices.

Disgusting

They never match the mood of the fiction, or worse the mood of the edit itself.

And honestly they're just boring ass songs.

Now, what I said about these Instagram edits applies also for the tik tok ones, but with some differences.

First of all, because there's much more editors on tik tok now, luckily there are some exceptions.

Some good stuff that's going on, but for me it's still not enough. From the parameter of the golden age of edits, those edits are just.. average.

The average good stuff you save and lightly watch. Its hard to find an edit that makes you obsessed. It wasn't really back than.

And most of them still lack the personal style, that again, I think its crucial for the ideal enjoyment.

I also noticed that the capability of the editors changes based on wich media the edits are of.

Like for example the editors of jujutsu kaisen (dont ask me anything i didn't see it) aren't doing a so bad job.

Maybe because the target audience is older so are the editors, idk

But it still lacks something.

That sparkle that was there before

The one that made you crave to watch it again and again

Maybe it's just me who's lacking something I had before , and nothing else changed

In conclusion, I think the editing culture ended at the start of 2022.

What challenges do pokémon coming back from the past face? Like at the sanctuary you're setting up

Squid i am so glad you asked ive been looking for an excuse to infodump about this for so long. this is under the cut cause i worry about it being long.

okay so the term "coming back from the past" is a bit...not quite accurate. for most pokemon at least!!

due to a recent insurgence in hisuian trait breeding programs, the vast majority of the pokemon in these programs that are coming into the sanctuary don't experiences many challenges in adapting because they've been born into the modern world.

now of course, there are some health problems. some people in their quest to breed hisuian traits back into the modern era have turned to inbreeding, which as we all know can cause so many genetic problems to crop up. many hisuian arcanine are having runt litters, some hisuian electrode have sap leakage which is bad for their health, qwilfish with underdeveloped spikes, typhlosion with stunted snouts and flames, sneasels with brittle claws, Samurotts with similarly brittle horns, and i could go on.

we do have a few ah- theyre called "old breed" hisuian mons? which is just a fancy word for saying hisuian mon that have slipped through wormholes or in some instances were taken from hisui into the modern era and put in my custody for the sanctuary. they havent had any chance to adapt or get used to modern era.

for those folks, their challenges are adapting to modern era, which will hopefully be negated by the historical accuracy of the sanctuary to hisui. fingers crossed!! another problem, is that for many of them, their food is a bit extinct. many small fish and bug mons that were never really classified no longer exist. so we have to find foods similar enough that they will accept them as new prey.

....there is one other problem i have learned about. with hisuian pokemon. in the specific case, where there is a hisuian pokemon in a pokeball that never passed away and was never let out. there is a very low chance that they can survive to modern era. but they are never secure. they cannot handle it, and become incredibly aggressive and warped in personality.

so far, as far as i know, this specific problem has only occurred once, with a Hisuian Zoroark who was known by the name "Dusk". he has since passed away.

HONESTLY im still trying to figure out a like consistent Main Setting in the story....it kinda changes each episode between earth and alkaliba tbh. jsyk the main story takes place in/around boulder, co and grants, nm when theyre on earth, and USUALLY at the capital when theyre on alkaliba (i have yet to name all the major cities even tho its been like almost 10 years lol). also YA alkaliba is a planet ÷) i have an old as fuck map of the solar system that i need to remake BADLY here u go

space travel is actually not Too common but there Are 1 or 2 bridges between earth and alkaliba called stargates (OLDDDDD ass concept that i might rework someday, like early highschool years old) that link the 2 planets with the same kind of power tix uses to make his own little portals.a lot of the worldbuilding is Extremely old and kinda outdated and will probably be updated in the future BUT. basically there was a mass extinction of humans on earth like 8million years ago or so and everything just kinda. Started over lol (the main story is set in 2009 onwards, its like almost identical to the Actual 2009). alkaliba is a slightly more advanced planet than earth is but actually a few things were learned from earths culture like directly after the mass extinction happened. its basically like in this case earth is the inhospitable alien planet that eventually became livable again? its hard to explain now that im thinking abt it..space travel does Exist but its not really mainstream yet and its more of an upper class thing Or if u can make ur own things to do so, most ppl just use the stargates if they need to go somewhere. some alkalibans even live on earth primarily (zach does this lol). alkaliba is kinda separated into zones that can represent different countries/continents that are on earth (for example indie lives on alkaliba but is somehow inexplicably french, hayate and zach are japanese, noodle is mexican, etc, i like to think its just cartoon logic but its nice to have an actual reason lol), like i said old earth culture did contribute directly to modern civilization. there are quite a few different life sustaining planets in the story but most of them are Rarely mentioned/seen, but the stargates go to any of them. THIS IS SEMI RELATED BUT. what zones ppl live in also really decides what kind of biology they have, like zach is a mountain variant and noodle is a coastal variant, u get it. i have yet to make it but i Do have a very detailed thing explaining this in my mind.. i also need to do one for each zones specific cultures bc while they Are very very similar to what country theyre based on they Do have their own stuff too, also just the planet as a whole has a standard base culture too but i have to think abt it some more lol. i also still need to decide on what the actual landscape itself would even Look like. probably pretty similar to earth..i mean i do have 1 pic of it that i did but its basically just earth 2

also this is unrelated but it never snows on alkaliba bc it doesnt get below freezing, most alkalibans have very little cold tolerance and anything under -10F would be like a human in the middle of antartica with like just a coat and jeans, just like if earth ppl experienced a summer on alkaliba they would probably be very miserable since it can get to like 130F on average during the worst of it
