Funny enough I was thinking about this quite a bit today... [When hosting for the Holiday, the inevitable happened and more than a few people in my extended family asked about the decorations I had in my personal office] To preference, I do think everyone has their own personal reasons why they enjoy/love the DCA. What I have theorized is just an observation of the limited scope of who I have interacted directly but... As @madamemiz (so excellently) pointed out, a lot of the appeal of the DCA comes from a variety of factors that scope from age of the audience to aspects of our personalities that crave something safe and nostalgic. When explaining it myself, I stressed how much the DCA represented safety for me. Safety, I can admit, I never had either as a child or during my early adulthood. The DCA in nearly all iterations have some directive of being (as is in the name) a Caretaker. Someone who actively goes out of their way to seek that the individual in their care is being prioritized in some way. Also... The idea that they are an AI and can gain something from a person wishing to express their emotions to them is also appealing. An oppertunity for sharing and learning together, but also a touch of unattainability that always needs to be worked on to make any kind of relationship to work. I believe we all want to be chosen, to be special enough for that kind of love. Not because of anything we can physically or materially can give but, rather, what we can share.... But that is just my post-stress ramblings after too much uncomfortable time with people I have to be around.

saw a post recently about the sun and moon fandom and how non-selfship content is rare, and how that's frustrating, and it struck me, like... how rare that is. genuinely in all my 20ish years in online spaces, i've never seen a fandom that not only welcomed selfship but actively encourages it, when usually the rule of thumb is that it's tolerated at best and despised at worst

so why is this fandom so selfship centric?

the answer is a combination of factors, of course, but I think it was mostly just a perfect storm of the right character with the right traits at the right time. many people between about 23 and 33 were and still are experiencing intense childhood nostalgia that's being perpetuated by online culture and various media, often through a distorted or slightly unsettled lense. the daycare attendant is fun! they're childish, but decidedly not children. they're not human, unattainable in reality, but plausible enough in the age of ai that they make you ponder. they make you long to nap and play and color and do all the whimsical things you wish you could take a week off from your dull job and do! but there's something... off about them. an element of danger that's intriguing. they're dangerous, but what if they aren't to you specifically? or, if they are, what if they overcame that, just for you? what if you were worth it?

people our age are lonely, and if not, often working through issues they didn't have time to contemplate in their teens and early 20s because they were still living throigh the issues. younger people too, of course, but it's especially rampant in the aforementioned age group. past college and college friends, too caught up in work to make new ones. if the dca really clicked with you as a character, it's kind of fun to imagine what it would be like to hang out with them. what if they were your friend? what if they were more?

which leads to my last point--cringe is dead and we stomped on its corpse

maybe it started with a few people drawing a y/n with the dca, and wow the art is cute! who's the cute jester character? ... is that a self-insert? huh. and then more people join in. is that allowed? yes! and the crowd cheers for it too! the right people drawing the right character dynamics at the right moment, drawing others like a moths to a strange robotic flame

ultimately, the fandom attracts so much selfship because that's the bedrock, the foundation the rest of the fandom built its home on. almost all of the common tropes and characterization have roots in selfship fic and art. the dca's popularity very much kicked off from that, and seeing other people using them as an outlet for their loneliness, friendship, romantic or sexual desires, or even just for creative character and plot setups that are only tangentially related to canon actively encouraged others to join in, in a way that could only happen while riding the funerary coattails of cringe culture

it's very much a lightning in a bottle fandom, the likes of which i doubt we'll see again for a while

Does Shifty have much of a gender identity or are they super fluid? Do they prefer male forms or is it just like a lotta dudes happen to be around? O:

it’s the latter. shifty learns by imitation, and all of their “parental” figures have been Guys who are Dudes. shifty doesn’t have any internal sense of gender identity, and doesn’t have any issue with taking “female” forms or being perceived as such. they just prefer to look like people they know, and most of those people identify as men. the tendency for people to refer to them with he/him pronouns is a result of this too, but shifty has no real preference on that either.

for shifty, personal expression doesn’t exist on a feminine/masculine scale so much as a familiar/unfamiliar one. he likes learning new forms, but prefers not to “wear” people he doesn’t know for too long:

most of the non-human animal forms shifty takes actually tend to be female in the event there’s any sexual dimorphism (does, female birds, etc) because in general they attract less attention from humans and other animals.

and to answer the eventual question: their “clothing” is their skin, and there’s nothing actually under it, so every human form they take is functionally sexless.

I personally have very conflicted feelings about wether or not I like Leona as well but for entirely stupid reasons

He appeals to me as a character and I quite enjoy him within the story, but I have an irrational amount of anger and disgust towards bare feet

This has been the case since childhood though I have since gotten a fair bit chiller

Once again I really like his character, he's probably my second to first favourite, but I cannot bear to look at him sometimes

When I see full body Leona art sometimes I stop scrolling right before the bottom and then go past it really fast to avoid seeing feet, one time I had to stop reading an analysis for a hot minute because reading about his overblot made me think of that fucking foot design and in that moment that was just unbearable

It's the reason I can't really get into most of the fairy gala designs either, it's literally so stupid

NO, YOU’RE RIGHT AND I STAND WITH YOU… Never been a fan of his footwear or bare feet/skin of the feet in general (which is also why I dislike Floyd’s Relax in Room Groovy or Jade’s Dorm Groovy) 😭 The is particularly horrific for Labwear Leona, because you’re not supposed to have open-toed shoes in a lab environment. AHHHHHHHHHH, it makes me wanna bash him over the head with a pair of sensible shoes 💢

I think a lot of my disgust toward bare feet stems from a traumatic foot-related childhood memory :DD It happened to a relative and not to me, but it was still pretty horrific watching them go through it (I won’t go into detail; just know that it was very gross).

Thankfully we don’t really see the shoes or full body models in the game so most of the time I can live in blissful ignorance 🙂‍↕️ Shoes are the one design element of Twst that I consistently find disappointing… SORRY, FLOYD…

I really like the Fairy Gala designs overall though! I didn’t mention this in my personal L*ona lore post, but his Fairy Gala Couture outfit was what first sold me on the whole “he’s canonically handsome” thing OTL The dainty, flowery aesthetic is more of my preferred style to his usual “bad boy” look, and I think the cream clothes + shimmery makeup on him helps call attention at his face.

WHAT'S UP!

Welcome to my post where I praise the fanon original league version of Jayvik!!!

I'm gonna be real, I will miss the Og machine herald Viktor. I never played league, and I'm not going to, but before season 2 came out I read his lore and he's actually a pretty fun character.

Then after season two act 1 came out, I dove into the world of fanfiction cause I started shipping Jayvik and found kind a few fics about the league of legend versions of the characters. And here is what I will say.

If we go with fanon alone, I actually prefer the league versions.

League Viktor and League Jayce are actual enemies for most of the time. They used to be colleagues, then Viktor was getting into brainwashing whilst Jayce was a dick and got him kicked out of the academy. He also didn't speak up when some other scientist took credit of Viktors invention. Oh and there were misunderstandings about some crystal...

Long story short, they don't like each other. But in the fics they often times either clear the misunderstandings and make up or yearn for each other whilst on opposite sites. Or they fight each other which leads to make out sessions because why not.

The characters are also generally more fun to read about.

Jayce is a huge dick, that is literally his most defining personality trade. He is a cocky bastard and people like him until they get to know him because he's just such an asshole.

And Viktor is just... Really fucking silly. He wants to get rid of his emotions and says that he already did get rid off them, but then Jayce pisses him off and you can tell no way?? Where did you get rid off your emotions? You've been whining non stop. There's also still love, kindness and empathy within Viktor, but he somehow convinces himself that he is emotionless. It gets especially good when that's played for comedy, which it oftentimes is!

Also, the nicknames! They still call each other Jayce and Viktor but Viktor also calls Jayce "Defender" short for "Defender of tomorrow" which is jayces title, and Jayce calls him either V or Machine Herald, depending on the mood.

Arcane season 2 was too rushed and packed with so many seperate story lines that we didn't have enough time for the characters. We needed at least one more season.

But the fanon for the league version, as someone who never played it, gives me this huge time frame of them being enemies but they used to be colleagues or friends (or more than friends depending on the writer), and then a huge time frame of them being enemies.

I think as much as I love Jayvik there, it's all just too sad, especially if you don't necessarily want to read act 1 fanfictions or AUs.

Also Viktor is super hard to characterize because his personally changes with almost every act. That's why I don't buy it when people complain about the way he is characterized because Ik all yall want is sassy S1 Act 1 Viktor, but I prefer the less confident and workaholic Act 2 Viktor. We are not the same.

The Fanon of League is just, somehow, more consistent in a way, because it has existed just much longer and people probably get inspired by the same shippers for how to write their dynamic.

Arcane fics though depend on how the individual interprets the characters, and with characters whose arcs were rushed sm it's just impossible.

So Og machine herald Viktor, you will be missed. I hope people don't stop writing for them and drawing fanart!!

-you might think this is the worst combo imaginable and you're damn right, except that they actually make it work because Abbath is overt while Varg is (for the most of the time) covert

-cocky bastards, inflated sense of self, grandiosity and all that jazz that basically hides raging insecurities. One wants to live it up like Lemmy Kilmister while the other is dreaming of being a dictator

-the empty schizoid core dilemma: Abbath is a fucking alcoholic because he cannot stand his own emptiness on a sober and lucid mind. Varg is arguably better because he wants to remain sober and as sharp as possible because he knows that when he drinks a little whisky he's the bottom of Abbath's jokes

-the Dead Mother concept

-Varg inevitably becomes overt because his false ego grows like a tumor on Abbath and it makes things harder for both of them

-narcissistic rage and pity parties

-they never actually give one another narcissistic supply because Varg is too fucking proud to admit he likes taking it up the ass while Abbath doesn't know how to talk with mean girls (especially those who piss while standing, have scars on their faces and like setting shit on fire)

-friends with benefits is just an excuse for being deprived together

-Abbath actually makes the fatal mistake to fall in love with Varg and he's massively disappointed when he sees Varg growing a beard instead of tits but he's sad and lonely anyway so he'll take whatever he gets. He's no high maintenance

-Varg is an asshole and breaks Abbath's heart as if it wasn't enough that Abbath breaks his liver every night in Apollon

-neither one is optimistic about the future and that's for a good reason

NPD x ASP

-you would assume that this isn't healthy because Varg can do the automatic bitch move of 'swallowing' Pelle's personality whole but he doesn't. He behaves exemplarily because he's desperate to find someone to love him despite being a sore loser

-the shared fantasy: they both live like elves in Tolkien's little fairytale (although Pelle lives like a strigoi in Transylvania) because real life just sucks and because they're both so deeply misunderstood

-both are very bad at communication, especially Pelle, but Varg is naturally quite observant and tries to find out what's bothering his lover. When Varg is silent, it is mostly because he's either entirely collapsed (narcissistic collapse) or his ego is injured. Pelle usually gives him space, but if Varg doesn't get better in a few days, he'll eventually try to talk with him, which is very tricky because Pelle doesn't speak Norwegian

-nerdy sleepovers braiding their hair together and watching Pelle Svanslös (the 1981 version)

-both are big introverts, but the difference between them is that Pelle is asocial while Varg is prosocial (he still needs narcissistic supply even if he prefers solitude instead of human interaction. It's quite complex and disappointing)

-they both read one another like open books because they have seen everything the other can offer (the good, the ugly and that weird thing in between)

-Pelle's emptiness and ego-death is different from Varg's narcissistic emptiness, but they find comfort in one another no matter what. The most powerful thing that Pelle told Varg was 'if you don't have any sense of self and you are just a mirror that can reflect anything, why not try to reflect me instead of the anger of your parents?' because in this way, Pelle gave Varg a chance to be a better, less hateful and less vindictive version of himself. -Varg doesn't look for narcissistic supply in Pelle because he doesn't want to take all of Pelle's energy. It's a boundary that he has for himself in order not to ruin their relationship, so he uses fanboys like Fenriz to tell him how great he is and all this nonsense

-they do love each other deeply. Even if they never experienced true love before, they know that their feelings are true and it's the only thing that makes life bearable

She won’t be your chauffeur for insanely long distances, much preferring it if you’d just walk beside her to get all your zoomies out. Although should you happen to fall asleep mid carry, V will continue to hold on to you until she finds a safe place to put you down.

╰┈➤ Her pet name for you is strictly just ‘baby’ because that’s what you are - a little baby. V uses this in both a teasing and endearing manner depending on her mood. There are slight variations such as: ‘little baby’ and ‘my baby’. If you’re misbehaving though, she’ll refer to you as ‘little twerp’. As for herself, she’ll let you get away with calling her ‘VeVe’ but she absolutely hates anything else; she’s picky.

╰┈➤ She’s not really physically affectionate yet head pets come in the dozens. However, if you do exactly what she says, she’ll lovingly run her fingers through your hair before gently kissing your little nose (as long as no one else is around, of course). You may even get a peck on the cheek if she’s feeling more warmhearted although I wouldn’t expect it.

╰┈➤ Surprisingly (or maybe unsurprisingly) V is an exceptionally protective caregiver. Once she adapts to your specific needs, she’s always close behind you to guarantee your safety. You never really notice that she’s there but she certainly is there, watching, observing, listening. You don’t really suspect anything until she starts to conveniently appear out of thin air whenever you have a minor inconvenience. She wants her little to be protected and she’ll be damned if she wasn’t going to be your guardian.

╰┈➤ V gets on her knees to talk to you at eye level. It’s generally just a preference of hers so she can make sure that you’re focusing on what she’s telling you. This is also her default position for when she’s scolding you, attempting to comfort you, listening to what you have to say…maybe it’s just her default position with you full stop. At least she knows if you’re paying attention or not.

╰┈➤ V finds it hilarious if you copy her sassy attitude, especially if you repeat her exact words right back at another drone whose aggravating either of you. Not only does she think it’s amusing but adorable also. If she catches you copying her mannerisms (hands on hips, rolling your eyes, ect) she’ll give you a tiny smile of approval and then use you as leverage to prove her point.

╰┈➤ If you ask her real nicely she may bring out her bubble blower for you. V doesn’t know why you find it so entertaining considering it’s just a stress reliever to her, but it's better than you being bored and getting grouchy. It never seems to run out of juice somehow; you get to pop as many bubbles as you want for as long as you want! V might possibly get a little playful and give you a challenge to see how many bubbles you can pop within a certain amount of time. Enrichment for her baby.

╰┈➤ V is a very no nonsense caregiver and won’t tolerate any disrespect from you. Talking back is the ultimate big no-no. She’ll lecture you and put you in time out until you’ve learnt your lesson. When you apologise it has to be with genuine sincerity (V will know if you’re lying just to get out of your punishment).

╰┈➤ That being said, she’ll definitely let you get away with disrespecting others. She enjoys watching you stand your ground, stomping your feet in anger as you fiercely babble at whoever is in front of you. V will even encourage you to be meaner if she feels like you’re being too soft. The drones always run away after a couple of minutes; you’re completely obvious to the fact that V is standing right behind you, claws and teeth on full display, ready to escalate things should they not listen to you.

AXAB terms were created as a way to defy the "AGAB" binary as a punk movement and as a way to relieve some dysphoria, as well as gain more control over their own idenity for any reason. It is not intersexist, it never was intended to be so, it is simply a way to defy the typical "AFAB" and "AMAB" binary. It is not saying that they are intended to transition to be that AGAB, that would be considered transintersex, which IS intersexist. People using AXABs does not harm you or anyone else. Perhaps you should look into some resources. Here is a link.

"transintersex" is a transID and is harmful, whereas, as quoted, "Neoassignments (also known as neoAGABs[1]) are a type of AGAB non-conforming label used by those who reject their initial AGAB and wish to assign themself something else. NeoAGAB labels may include the refusal to to disclose what one was assigned at birth, the idea that one's AGAB is irrelevant, or that one's current gender (for example: non-binary) is the one they have always been since birth." Another similar term is SAGAB.

"agab language" is exactly what they are against. It is two distinct boxes that, if you are not apart of physically, emotionally, or mentally (ex. Are intersex, trans, or simply do not 'act' like your AGAB stereotype), harms in the ways of forced surgeries for intersex people, conversion therapy (sometimes by use of rape) for trans people, and while being GNC is sometimes bad for masc girls it is very bad on fem boys. It is a punk movement, called AGABpunk, meaning "AGABpunk, also known as NeoAGAB, XenoAGAB, and BirthGenderPunk, refers to someone who either rejects their AGAB in favor of one they prefer, doesn’t wish to disclose their AGAB for any reason, or simply doesn’t find the concept of AGAB to be important or relevant and chooses their own". It wasn't created to 'become intersex'. It is, again, a punk movement against the boxes of binary AGABs.

These labels are done and used in good faith. They are good-faith labels and were never created to be or used to be against intersex people. Intersex people are always welcome to use these terms for any reason.

It wasn't ever done with the idea of bringing down intersex people, so the idea of "If you aren't intersex, don't comment" is.. fairly irrelevent? Because neoAGABs have no direct connection to intersex people at all. You may feel it is, which is fine, but that is not the intention nor what it was created to do. Intersex people can still use these if they so choose or align with them. Not all intersex people do. If you wanted a community that this was directly involved with, speak with the AGABpunk community (which has intersex people involved, mind you).

If you personally do not like these terms, simply just don't use them. This is a case where they are not harming anyone except the "AGAB language". It was never a jab at intersex people and was never intended to be molded to look as such.

We align with the AGABpunk movement in the sense of our AGAB literally does not matter. We have a mound of skin that makes a specific shape, whatever. But that doesn't mean we care to be like "We're AFAB/AMAB". We actually prefer strangers not knowing that, because it doesn't matter.

Someone identifying as "Assigned Plant At Birth" does not harm you, the idea that everyone should conform to AGAB language is.

I’ve noticed that lots of your recent questions have been… quite violent. Either that or entirely nonsensical(*cough* Tulin *cough*). While those questions are quite interesting, and provide fascinating insight into many facets of your personality, I can’t imagine they’re easy to go through all day. As a return to the more mundane questions, what are your preferences towards baked goods? And are you aware of the other champion’s preferences?

I'll admit, it is a refreshing change to be asked something reltively mundane.

I personally don't eat a lot of baked goods, my diet is very protien and vegtable based to maintain by sleek and muscular form. However, I can appreciate Rito baking for special occations such as festivals and holidays.

My personal favourites of our traditional bakes are hot pepper windmills. They're a fairly simple butter pastry containing pepper jam and glazed in honey. Because Rito lack the heat/pain response from capsaicin, 'hot' peppers taste...well, just rather sweet and floral to us. Thus these pasteries are a sweet treat for Rito but almost inedible to most other races.

A few other worthy mentions would be bakes such as wildberry towers, which are small circles of fluffy vanilla cake filled with wildberries and jam. We grow a lot of wildberries in Hebra so wildberry cakes are fairly traditional at celebrations. We make them into thin, tall towers because Rito swalow our food whole and that's an easy shape for it.

There's also some fairly acceptable savoury bakes. A warrior pie is a pouch of shortcrust pastry filled with baked and spiced chicaloo nuts and acorns. Nuts are a very large part of the Rito diet and good for our digestion, and are a good sorce of protien in the winter when the meat is scarse. They're called warrior pies because they are sturdy for travel, keep for a long time, and are very dense to fill you up; so traditionally they're a food that warriors take with them into battle.

Then there's a baked good we Rito rather enjoy frightening Hylians with called a baked rat. Contrary to the name, it is not, in fact, a baked rodent. It's a sort of pancake-esq batter filled with finely chopped bird meat and potatos, usually coloured red with hot pepper juices, and glazed with a sugarcane shell and sprinkled with herbs. The gimick is that they 'burst' when you break them in half and look like the vicera of a dead animal, which is appealing to the preditor instincts of a Rito. The reason they became called baked rats is because during the harsh winters, sometimes bird meat would be scarce, and in times of famine when the Village has been unable to get meat, we've turned to other sorces of protien such as insects. For a long time it was traditional to add earth worms in replacement of meat, which people would tell their fledglings were 'rat tails' to make them seem less unapealing. It amuses me greatly that whenever a Hylian visits the village and see's a treat being consumed with the name 'baked rat' that the featherless blights tend to lose all color in their faces and make a hasty exit.

As for the other Champions, I'm unfamiliar with their preferences. Zora have a hard time processing a large amount of glutenous foods, thus most of their diet tends to avoid tabantha wheat. However I know Mipha has made cookies before using flour made from rice. I can't imagine Daruk eating many baked goods, as the Gorons typically consume mostly rocks. Due to my inability to enter Gerudo Town, I'm unaware of what foods are popular amongst the Gerudo, however I have seen Urbosa enjoy a variety of Hyllian bakes at the Castle.

Both the Princess and her little shadow practically gorge themselves on an enormous variety of baked treats when at the castle. There's forever servants rushing around, setting up lengthy tables with huge amounts of facinating foods - more than any one princess could ever eat. I couldn't name them all if I tried.

I'm gonna say ominsexual, with a small/medium preference for women. giving ambiamorous, but more towards monagomous, you feel me?

Captain Jack Harkness: Most of the actors/writers/etc. say bisexual, but also admit to omnisexual, because he does get freaky with aliens. I feel like if you don´t think aliens are included in bisexual, then pansexual would be a better fit, but whatever. I'm not sure on this one, but he's def queer and also super freaky, so we stan. polyamorous if i've ever seen one

Martha Jones: I'm really unsure on this tbh. I think she doesn't really use labels, but def kisses men and women. kinda ambiguous on this, my bad.

Donna Noble: Bisexual. No evidence, gut feeling. I will not be explaining.

Simm!Master: that is a homosexual. he had a wife n shit ik, but that felt wrong. gay for the doctor. it's that simple. (i do want to clarify that he would still love fem!doctor, but like. hes gay. you feel me? timelords get that ambiguity.)

11th Doctor: hmm. hMM. he's silly. Giving pansexual. does not see gender. (danced with all the men and women equally at the Ponds wedding, was confused why the men were shy. an icon, truly) less on the demiaro, more on the demiace. (not super sexual except with River) I'd say monagomous but between River and Clara, he's most certainly not. ambiamorous.

Amy Pond: Pansexual. would kiss women, but loves Rory to death. She/they, we all know the scene i'm thinking about.

Rory Williams: bisexual. ik ik he had that whole 'im not gay' scene, but it was giving 'im not gay im bi' energy. I have no evidence for this claim, just trust me.

River Song: what a pansexual queen. canonically had at least two wives. in love with the doctor. an icon. Very much NOT asexual. Do NOT let her and Jack Harkness meet. They'd match each others freak and end up killing people.

Clara Oswald: canon bisexual, literally kissed Jane Austen. giving she/they. of all the people to fall for, fell for the doctor in his 'post-pond-depression-wet-cat-era', worst choice she ever made and i love that for her. she is babygirl, i will not explain.

12th Doctor: I'm currently on his last season right near the end, going to cry when he leaves. giving true pansexual, no preference. i have no evidence, i just think that all the doctors are pan, but some have preference, hence the omni. he/they, idfk. less on the demiaroace then all his previous regenerations, but i don't think any doctor is truly allosexual/romantic. you get the vision?

in bed, shanks is all service, making a point of figuring out what language you're comfortable with and where he should and shouldn't touch you. he's adaptable; this man is the textbook definition of a switch. if you're post-op or want to use a strap he'll let you on top with no complaints (though he will be bratty about how fast or slow you fuck him). he prefers to be on top, though, if you let him, and he'll be merciless once you do. he'll feel no need to hold back, pulling your hair and growling in your ear while he fucks you stupid. he's a fountain of praise while he's fucking you, purring about how you're such a good boy for him, about how precious you look underneath him. having a lover he can party with like the rest of the crew and drag into his quarters and rail the brains out of whenever he sees fit would drive him wild. This was actually so interesting to think about! I was finding it very hard difficult to decide on an order on initial vibes alone, so I wrote up my headcanons for them all first - and a few of them are surprising even to me! Also there are so many switches/not really into it so the middle is really very fuzzy.

1 - Ezri Yeah, definitely a surprise to find her at the top of my list, but I so really think she'd get a kick out of the dom scene (and mostly dislike subbing). She's just got that quiet powerful energy that makes you want to be in her thrall, and being joined and having Jadzia's memories alongisde her own just makes her more confident that she's good at what she does. She wouldn't dom for brats though. (Also partly why she's so nervous at asking Julian out, she doesn't feel she's got a good read on his dom/sub energy...)

2 - Sisko If he was into it, I can only see him as a dom. He made captain because he's good at commanding, and he likes it, and I think that would carry through into the bedroom. But honestly, he probably wouldn't be interested in power play in the first place.

3 - Jadzia She's a great dom for sure, but I think she enjoys exploring new things way too much not to be a switch? Plus, Worf like to think he's a dom, and she's happy to humour him from time to time. More dom than not, though, and she's definitely a brat when she subs.

4 - Worf I've definitely said this before, but Worf thinks he's a dom. He's a Klingon warrior, etc etc etc, "obviously" if anyone's domming, it's him. I don't think he's that good at it, but Jadzia finds it endearing, so it's fine. And I think he likes it when Jadzia takes charge, but he never actually refers to that as "subbing" in his head... Idk, I just don't think he'd be able to relax enough to really let himself be submissive, even though I think he'd enjoy it if he were able to. (I also don't think he's particularly into power play, either, tbh)

5 - Garak Ohh, another difficult one... I think subbing would be really good for him, if he could let his guard down enough for it. And he'd have to be in the right mood to dom - at times, he'd really enjoy it, at others, it would hit too close to home and he'd be holding off a breakdown until whenever his partner left. I think he'd *want* to dom, though, even if he knows it'll trigger him, because he does enjoy breaking the other person down and hurting them. (Not that he'd think of it as "triggering" to himself, of course.)

6 - Odo I really cannot see him being into it. No rating. [Edit: I came back to re-evaluate after writing Kira but no. Even for her, it's really not something he wants to try.] [Edit: Fuck, he would dom for Quark though.]

7 - Miles Again, not sure he'd be into power play for itself, but he enjoys playing his role for a partner who's into it. Keiko, I think is a switch with a slight preference for domming, so he's been a sub more often than not. I think his favourite part of it is giving aftercare when he's been a dom :3 (something something good-cop-Miles-bad-cop-Keiko domming the hell out of a dazed Julian)

8 - Julian Disclaimer - I exclusively read sub!Julian, so I'm biased XD But trying to think about it objectively... I think he's a switch. Like Jadzia, he enjoys exploring new things too much to really stick to one or the other. I do think he'd have hangups over how much he enjoys domming though, what with his secret fear of going bad... And being a sub allows him to relax and not have to think and just relish in all the sensations and I think he'd love being slowly taken apart bit by bit...

9 - Kira Sure, she screams dom at first but I pegged her as a sub a few weeks back and now I've really talked myself into it. I think she could dom, but unlike Sisko, while she's very good at being in command, I don't think she intrinsically enjoys it, and letting someone else be in control would give her the chance to relax. It would take her a while to allow herself to explore it, but once she got there, she'd find a space where she can be soft and gentle and cherished - and hurt, and soothed.

10 - Quark Oh my god he's such a sub, right? Not that he'd ever tell anyone but he LOVES being told what to do and ordered around. In theory he's a brat, but it never lasts for long - he becomes a pliant submissive wreck too quickly. (Okay now I'm considering if Odo would break his definitely not rule for Quark and... Yeah, actually 😅 Why would their dynamic change just because they're having sex?)

He decided not to wait for a better chance to go after Syd in the future, since he deemed that chance to be a looooog shot that might never happen at all and instead he just TRANSFERRED his feelings onto a more attainable prospect, as I explained above, this was confirmed by 02X05's soundtrack.

Sounds coming from outside the inn caught my attention. It was night, all the boys were in the inn, either in their rooms or in some other room in the place, so there was no reason for me to worry. It must just be some drunk talking to himself. The only problem is that I recognized the voice, and besides being someone I know well, I’m sure it seemed to be coming from more than one person.

Well, I guess checking it out can’t hurt, right? I got up from the small sofa I was sitting on, reading a book, and went to look for something to cover myself and protect myself from the night’s cold. After putting on a coat, I went out through the front door of the inn, looking around. The street was empty, so it was easy to identify the sounds coming from nearby.

I walked to the back of the inn, away from the eyes, worried about what could be causing all this commotion. Of all the possibilities that crossed my mind, none of them were that the voice I heard was actually Four’s, but I was also right about there being more than one person, because right in front of me were four Fours. Ironic, I know.

He... they seemed to be discussing something that I couldn’t understand at first, too shocked by what was right in front of me, and they also didn’t seem to have noticed me standing there. Each of them wore the robe in a different color, each one of the colors of the original robe of the hero of the four swords.

Oh, hero of the four swords, so that’s what it means!

Not liking the idea of just standing there watching, or even leaving and them never even finding out that I knew their secret, I cleared my throat to get their attention. It seemed to work, they all looked at me surprised and somewhat shocked, becoming quiet immediately.

— Oh, calm down! It’s not what you’re thinking. – The one wearing the green tunic began, triggering the reaction of the others.

— Well, unless you’re thinking that we’re Four divided, then it’s exactly what you’re thinking! – The one in red said, receiving na elbow from the one in blue.

— It’s okay, we can explain everything. – The one in purple said, not seeming really worried about the situation.

It took me a while to process all of this, but I think it’s okay, after all, it’s Four. They are Four.

— Hm, okay, then explain. – I said, finding myself again at the wall nearby with my arms crossed, waiting.

— Well... we’re Four. – The green one replied, saying what I had already assumed.

— So Four is like, four people in one?

— Not exactly, more like we’re a quarter of one person each. We’re different parts of Four, different sides of it. – The one in purple explained better, and I thought I was starting to understand.

— And I suppose that’s because of the sword.

— Exactly. – the one in blue confirmed.

Right. It’s not that absurd. Just complex and strange. But reasonable.

— And what should I call you? One, two, three and four? – I asked, making the one in red laugh.

— We answer to Green, Red, Blue and Vio. – Green corrected me.

— Oh, right, that makes sense. – I sighed. That’s a lot for one night. – Do the others know?

— No, only Wild. And we prefer to keep it that way, understand? – Blue said, almost sounding like a threat, I just nodded.

Before I could speak I felt someone hug me suddenly. Red grabbed me affectionately, looking happy. If each one represents a feeling of Four’s, I guess this one is love.

— I’m so glad you know this now! I’ve wanted to tell you for a while, but the others didn’t agree. – He said, mumbling about his other parts. – And you’re taking it so well, how nice! Now we can get to know each other even better.

I laughed softly, I never thought I’d see the Blacksmith act so affectionately, it was kind of adorable. And to think that this is literally a part of him, it’s nice to be able to get to know this side of him.

— Okay, I’m still trying to figure this all out, but it’s actually pretty cool. It’s kind of like Four multiplied, all advantages. – I said without thinking very well, and mentally cursed myself for it. Okay, I went around saying that shit anyway, go ahead and confess that you have a crush on him... them.

Luckily, they didn’t seem to notice, or didn’t show it, the next thing I saw was Red being pulled by the hood by Blue, forcing him to let go of me.

— Okay, that’s enough, don’t be so clingy! Do you want to scare her, idiot?!

— Hey, you know you’re calling yourself an idiot too, right, genius?

— No, I’m calling you an idiot, you’re the idiot part, I’m the cool part!

— But we’re the same person!

The two argued back and forth, heavens, I’m still going to go crazy one of these days. The other two got closer to me, avoiding the brawlers.

— Don’t worry, ignore them, they’re a little nervous with your presence. – Green explained, generating more doubts in me.

— Why would they be nervous?

— Oh, it’s because- ouch! – He was cut off by a poor thing on the back of the neck from Vio. – Oh, nothing, forget it.

Trafalgar D. Water Law; Boy or Girl SO Preference?

If you look at Flevance, they resemble a typical small Christian community, even if it isn’t explicitly stated. There were religious crosses, nuns, churches. There was most definitely a theme in Flevance’s religion about hope and the good in others, as the nun that Law sees says smth like, “There’s always a hand to help you.”

Flevance also had a high status of wealth (the whole diamond scheme) and the average cost of living/luxury of the average person was reasonably high. There vastly majority of the couple in Flevance were also probably traditionally monogamous, with one man and one woman.

I think if Law had grown up in Flevance his romantic interests would solely be focused on a female partner bc that would be the socially acceptable way and he wouldn’t view males in the perspective of a potential suitor. (Idk if this is recent interpretations of the Bible or not but it’s realistic to say that there would be stigmatism surrounding same sex couples in Flevance as most traditional believers of Christianity view same sex romantic relationships as ‘wrong ish’. At least where I live..)

However, the destruction of Flevance brought change to Law’s character and perception of love. Because of this and his loss of faith from this experience, I think adult pirate Law would be more willing to engage in a same sex relationship. (Would actually be a good writing moment made by Oda if it did happen imo but I digress)

I don’t ship LawLu, but I think Luffy is a real example of the type of person that could help Law heal and has aspects of what Law would need in a relationship. LawLu is good on a companionship/spiritual level imo but sexually/potentially romantically I do not see it at all being reciprocated by either Law or Luffy.

Just the fact someone like Luffy exists that had met Law is a good argument for Law being with a male, just not Luffy specifically.

Law’s significant other to me represents stability, safety, and humanity. This can manifest in people differently though so I don’t see him looking for something based on physicality.

Because of that I don’t see Law in canon having a preference between boy or girl for a partner. Perhaps a leaning towards female because that’s the traditional way of his hometown and in the One Piece world it seems like.

He’d need someone emotionally before he’d need them sexually imo, so if he found someone that worked for him and he was ready, that’s it no matter the gender.

Sexually he would probably be more attracted to females, and a lot of times sexual tension is mistaken for romantic tension but I don’t see Law acting upon either.

Hate to leave this discussion without giving u a definite answer anon but I just don’t think there is a definite answer yk.

My personal preference tho is him with a female because I see him falling for someone with a strong maternal presence. Yk little instincts and gestures they do towards him and the crew that sometimes make them sigh ‘okay mom’ while drawing out the ‘o’ in mom. Someone that reminds him of the feeling of safety and peace he felt as a kid in Flevance where his body wasn’t so tense all the time.

Here is my essay.

I have many more, but this list would be excessive (if it isn't already). Some of these headcanons overlap because they complement each other. I've also included some Cedlock headcanons derived from the individual ones.

My Greylock Headcanons

1. He likes music and knows how to play several instruments.

This headcanon is partly borrowed from the Waltz for Cedric fanfic, but I find it very fitting for Greylock. I can imagine him playing an accordion while dancing, or even being part of a one-man band.

1g Cedlock: Greylock plays for Cedric and has composed musical arrangements for him.

2. He enjoys dancing.

I feel like Greylock would dance for fun, but he’s not particularly skilled—at least not with ballroom dancing.

2g Cedlock: Greylock once asked Cedric to teach him ballroom dancing and pretended to be clumsier than he actually was just to spend more time dancing with him.

3. He’s the kind of person who can strike up a conversation with anyone.

I like to think that Greylock is very charismatic, someone who is “friends with everyone,” so to speak. At the very least, a lot of people know him.

At Hexley Hall he was change sit so he couldn't talk to his friends and would just make friends with the new person next to him.

4. Greylock used to play pranks on Slickwell and actually liked him (somewhat).

I imagine they didn’t have a close friendship but weren’t outright enemies either, something like Cedric and Baileywick. Greylock often played pranks on Slickwell, knowing how easily he’d lose his temper, and he found it amusing.

Slickwell frequently tried to report him to Magnus, but by the time Magnus returned, Greylock had already cleaned up any mess with his magic, leaving Slickwell without proof. Like Candace trying to bust Phineas and Ferb.

5. Greylock likes fish and owns a goldfish.

There’s not much to explain here; I just think Greylock is the type to enjoy fish and would have a goldfish living in a little castle tank.

6. Greylock wasn’t born into nobility, and his magical talents came from recessive genes.

My headcanon is that Greylock was born into a non-magical merchant family. His gift for magic came from recessive traits in his lineage. His parents did everything they could to send him to good schools, such as Hexley Hall, so he could maximize his potential. His family loves him, and he loves them.

7. Marshak taught Greylock the hand spell.

Personally, I prefer to believe that Marshak isn’t Greylock’s relative but rather a retired Hexley Hall teacher who mentored him for most of his time there. Many of the spells Greylock knows were taught to him by Marshak.

8. Greylock wishes his role as Royal Sorcerer were different.

While he doesn’t hate his job, he wishes it came with less pressure. Greylock feels burdened by Magnus’s impossible expectations and is annoyed that Magnus flaunts him, not as a recognition of his skills but as a possession to bolster his own image. Greylock resents being treated like a tool and just wants to enjoy life and explore what his magic can do without having to fulfill Magnus’s excessive (and often exhausting) demands.

9. Greylock was fine after the events of "Day of Sorcerers."

My main headcanon about the conclusion of Rudistan and Greylock’s story is this:

After Cedric betrayed Grimtix, many of the Order’s allies began to fall to the good sorcerers. With Enchancia and other kingdoms liberated from the order's control, reinforcements were sent to confront Greylock at Rudistan.

However, Magnus’s fall from power revealed the vast number of opponents to his rule, sparking a civil war that pulled Greylock into its center. While Greylock aimed to overthrow Magnus, he hadn’t anticipated the implications, and becoming the face of a movement overwhelmed him.

Rudistan was divided: some were loyal to Magnus, others wanted to end the old regime altogether (I headcanon that Magnus’s entire dynasty wasn’t particularly benevolent). Foreign intervention was blocked by Rudistan’s own people, who, realizing Magnus wasn’t as invincible as he seemed (an idea fostered by Greylock), finally acted against him.

This essentially led to a civil war lasting several years. Communication between Rudistan and other kingdoms became minimal, if not nonexistent. Greylock used his magic to help the people and the opposition of Magnus, becoming a prominent figure of the movement, though the pressure weighed heavily on him. He felt that the rebellion used him just as much as Magnus had.

Eventually, Magnus’s opposition won, and he was overthrown again. Someone else was chosen as king since Greylock refused the role. In the end, Greylock decided to leave Rudistan to live a quieter life elsewhere. He was pardoned, at least by Rudistan, for his crimes against the crown.

3g Cedlock: As soon as he was able, Greylock began sending letters to Cedric to check on him and share what had happened in his own life. Over time, they reunited and ended up together. Greylock eventually moved to Enchancia. (In my headcanon, the other kingdoms didn’t care much about Magnus losing his throne as long as the new ruler upheld previous agreements. Roland simply didn’t mind, and though the idea of sorcerers overthrowing kings unnerved him a bit, he ultimately accepted Greylock’s presence.)

And they lived happily ever after, and all that.

10. Away from Rudistan, Greylock started dressing more freely.

Greylock enjoys experimenting with different patterns, textures, and colors, though he doesn’t always know how to match them well.

11. Greylock once got a hernia after spending all day fulfilling Magnus’s whims.

(I know that’s not how hernias work, shhh.) In general, I headcanon that Greylock can’t stand Magnus (like most characters), but I find it amusing to think that tolerating him has led to similar mishaps. Every day he grows a little crazier.

12. Greylock sleeps in underwear.

No further explanation needed.

4g Cedlock: Greylock started wearing shorts to bed after Cedric told him he didn’t want him sleeping in just underwear when they were together. Not sitting on the things in his workshop in his underwear either.

My Cedric Headcanons

1. He’s obsessed with birds, especially corvids, and knows everything about them.

I like to think Cedric has a fascination with birds and how they manage to fly, applying that knowledge to his inventions. His interest in corvids began as a way to take better care of Wormwood when he was young.

2. Cedric is an excellent dancer and took lessons as a child.

Since he had to attend royal balls, Goodwyn made him take ballroom dancing lessons. Cedric actually enjoys dancing, although he was embarrassed about it during his teenage years and part of his adulthood. (He had intrusive thoughts about being mocked and a mild phobia of balls because the incident.)

5c Cedlock: Once he regained his confidence, Cedric began dancing with Greylock at parties.

3. Cedric’s handwriting is gothic-style with elongated strokes.

I imagine Goodwyn had high expectations for Cedric in almost everything, including formal handwriting lessons. Cedric developed very elegant penmanship, though it can be hard to read due to his elongated strokes and the speed at which he writes.

6c Cedlock: Greylock sometimes struggles to read parts of Cedric’s handwriting in letters, just as Cedric occasionally struggles with Greylock’s. Both pretend they understand everything. (In reality, some parts are illegible.)

4. Cedric is some what cold-blooded and sleeps in a onesie with a sleeping cap.

On the rare occasions he actually goes to bed properly, Cedric bundles up excessively with warm clothes and blankets.

5. Cedric frequently uses spells to dress and clean himself.

I can totally see Cedric using magic to get dressed or bathe, saving time with spells instead of doing things manually. After all, if there are spells for ironing clothes (as Cordelia mentions), why wouldn’t there be spells for other tasks?

6. Cedric likes sweet things and eats candy or desserts when he’s sad.

He associates sweets with the comfort Winnifred gave him as a child. I imagine Winnifred would soothe him with desserts in addition to her other comforting gestures. Because of this, Cedric now associates sweets with emotional support.

I headcanon that his favorite treats include flycakes and blueberry desserts (inspired by the "Mystic Meadows" episode).

7. Cedric’s hair is slightly curly when grown out.

This is based on his teenage bangs and the slightly wavy hair of Cordelia and Winnifred.

8. Cedric is well-known in the village, and some people are excited to see him.

In "The Baker King", one villager mentions how the royal sorcerer made an entire orchard grow with his magic dust (something like that). This made me think it would be fun if some villagers were actually amazed by Cedric’s magical abilities and enjoyed seeing his tricks. However, Cedric’s constant bad mood when he’s out prevents him from noticing. It’s a bit like the dynamic in Cedric Be Good.

9. He secretly loves jewelry.

Although he’d never admit it, Cedric enjoys rings, necklaces, and anything shiny. He likes the luxury of wearing them. (I just enjoy imagining Cedric with jewelry.)

10. Cedric is a natural healer.

This one doesn't have a real reason, I just love the idea. It would explain why Cedric rarely gets hurt despite all the chaotic events he experiences, like his body magically heals itself.

11. Cedric still has nightmares about the Day of the Sorcerers and what could have happened if Sofia hadn’t intervened.

He has certain triggers and gets uncomfortable with specific topics, even though no one holds a grudge anymore. At some point after the series finale, he worked hard to rebuild his reputation but pushed himself so much that he fainted from exhaustion. Baileywick had a long talk with him about it. Still, Cedric occasionally has intrusive thoughts whenever something related is mentioned.

12. Cedric and Gwen will cause the EverRealm’s equivalent of an industrial revolution.

This could be considered a “crack” headcanon, but I think it’s possible. Just look at their flying cars! I also like to think the car Roland uses in the vacation episode is one of Cedric’s creations.

13. Cedric loves reading and is a huge fan of history.

He might not remember exact dates and names, but he retains everything else about historical events.

14. Cedric knows about botany and enjoys gardening.

He keeps plants in the upper part of his tower and likes taking care of them, though some occasionally die when he forgets to water them. (He revives them with magic anyway.)

My Cedlock Headcanons

These are a bit more scattered since they are imagined in various contexts and times within the series.

7. Wormwood doesn’t like Greylock.

Basically, I think Wormwood would tease Greylock when Cedric isn’t looking. Greylock doesn’t want to say anything to Cedric because he knows Wormwood is important to him. (And because he's a little terrified of Wormwood)

Eventually Wormwood stopped bothering him.

8. Greylock got into trouble to be with Cedric in detention.

Back in Hexley Hall, when Cedric was sent to detention for some disaster he caused, Greylock would find a way to get detention too, just to spend time with him.

9. Introducing him to the family

Greylock’s family is full of pranksters and somewhat rude humor, so Greylock threatened them all not to make any jokes when he brought Cedric to meet them. When he finally introduced them, they all made him feel welcome. Greylock’s family gets along well with Cedric and always tries to include him.

When Cedric introduced Greylock to his family (though it wasn’t necessary since Goodwyn and Winnifred had already investigated Greylock like the FBI), he warned them not to say anything rude about him (mainly Goodwyn).

Overall, they get along well with Greylock, but Goodwyn is a bit tougher and colder toward him. Eventually, he warmed up to Greylock when he realized he was a highly skilled sorcerer, though he still finds him a bit "not serious and unprofessional".

10. Cedric tries to learn the language of Rudistan for Greylock.

(Yes, I stole this from the Swanoverse universe, okay, leave me alone—it's a wonderful fanfic.)

11. About kisses.

Greylock was the one who initiated their kisses at first, but later, Cedric started seeking them out, though he didn’t know how to ask for them. I feel like their first kisses were a bit awkward because Cedric wasn’t sure what to do, and he was terrified of kissing in public.
