i'm...probably gonna get some unfollows for this but i'm not personally a fan. i used to be more chill with it, but i see it so much it's started to annoy me (except for a select few artists). it's not....bad it's just. bland to me? and i find people forget fearne and her important relationship to both dorian and orym. a lot of exu trio art ends up feeling like dor/ym art that she was put in as an after-thought.

i have more thoughts that my poor brother (who barely watches cr) gets to hear but uh...idk i'll stop talking since i don't want to hurt feelings or get killed for not liking it. but yeah ... not the biggest fan of it :']

💝 A headcanon about their love language

yeah these are def just shaping up to be analysis of canon vs. headcanons for most of 'em because we already have interesting canon answers for a lot of these questions but that's ok because that's fun too. this is gonna be a bit messy bc i'm real tired but anyway:

the long and short of it is that she's a dog. she loves like a dog. and i love how that behavior interacts w/ the specific way taylor is fucked up. it is So meaningful and compelling. taylor is for the most part absolutely incapable of admitting or even noticing when something has hurt her, let alone reaching out for support. she's very similar to brian in the sense that people verbally acknowledging that she's upset (generally synonymous with 'weak' in her mind) is intolerable to her, because ignoring and repressing that emotion is critical to her ability to force herself to stay standing & push herself thru the agony to achieve what she wants to achieve. there's this moment during the echidna fight where she sees wards verbally checking in w/ each other and she thinks that she's glad that her team would never ask if she's okay because she wouldn't be able to stop from breaking down if they did.

and the thing abt rachel's love language is that she's Direct About Everything All Of The Time Forever because she doesn't know how not to be. but it's not in a "asking if someone is okay" way, because even that is a level of indirectness, of giving someone the option to say "yes" and reject comfort! she instead directly notices when taylor isn't okay, and moves straight to offering comfort without forcing taylor to experience the weakness of admitting that she needs it. she's not great with words--she frequently feels frustrated by not knowing how to communicate what she wants to communicate--so instead she shows love through simple, blatant acts of physical affection, devotion, and trust. she's the equivalent of a big ole dog that just silently huffs and climbs into your lap when you're sad, and you can't do a damn thing about it because you're getting cuddled now and that's just how it is. she doesn't force taylor to acknowledge the situation to her, she simply notices when taylor needs a hand to hold and very firmly grabs taylor's hand. she's silently, unobtrusively understanding. she sees things as they are, and responds not with social niceties, but with firm and direct kindness. if you start crying while she's sitting next to you, she won't make a big deal out of it, she'll just keep sitting next to you. and that's exactly what taylor needs--affection and comfort sans expectations for her to have any sort of coherent explanation or conduct.

the devotion & trust is also Sooo. auugh. ough. when taylor turns herself into the PRT and she's unquestionably faithful that taylor has a plan, regards everyone else like they're idiots for having even the slightest sliver of doubt in her. during gold morning, when she willingly steps into taylor's field of control, saying that taylor is smart & to let her do what she needs to do. there's this moment during the behemoth fight that i think a lot about where rachel says "you have a plan" in response to taylor, y'know, having a plan, and taylor sort of confusedly reads it as smug & then satisfied without really grasping why. and the reason why is that rachel has put up with so much social bullshit she doesn't understand--the way the undersiders interact w/ her, coil, the prt--and taylor, without fail, has made things make sense. she's the only undersider to successfully speak to rachel on terms she fully understands, the one to kill coil, the one who soundly trounces the heroes every time. whenever things are confusing or scary or nonsensical, taylor, smart and strong taylor, fixes them with her plans. the earth is cracking and coming apart around them, because There's A Fucking Kaiju, but it's okay, because taylor is there, and rachel knows taylor will always make sure things turn out alright. genuinely doglike levels of unquestionable devotion, where there are ways she understands taylor more intimately than anyone else on the planet, and there are ways she can never understand taylor, but she still unquestionably trusts her enough to place her life in her hands. taylor even remarks that rachel trusts her too much when she steps into her radius during gold morning--and the reason that rachel trusts her too much is because she trusts like a dog trusts their person. i've seen ppl say that taylor is rachel's dog, but no, rachel is 100% taylor's dog. she loves that girl like a dog would. it rocks. autism forever.

ok so far it's like. fine? which is lowkey sad coz i wish it was smtg i really liked but it hasn't gripped me yet which is a shame but yknow. early days. i'm giving it time since it's only 15 episodes so far

my main issue is like. i really wish it wasn't so obviously influenced by bbc but it just so clearly is which is a shaaame like it's better than bbc in every aspect but yknow. not a high bar to clear. like it kinda feels like they liked a lot of things abt bbc and set out to fix the bad parts (h&w friendship being nonexistent, the mysteries being shit) but just kept the rest? in some places keeping things that were invented by bbc which is. baffling tbh

i'm not really picky when it comes to h&w personalities like i think it's fine to just do whatever you want w them, i think it's really fun when an adaptation gives them different personalities than what you're used to but, and this is where it feels far too bbc-ish for comfort, i just don't like it when sherlock is a cunt for no reason? like. he's not a mean person he's only mean in bbc coz moffat thought house md was cool and ripped it off. can we stop making him mean pleeeease 😭 he's just some guy..................

h&w relationship wise it's like... ok so i tend to go into adaptations with a fully clean slate so like i never let my general attachment to them influence how i view them in specific adaptations, the work itself needs to sell me on both the characters and the relationship and like... here neither of those really happened yet which makes me sad coz i think by now it should've but i'm giving it time. at least they're friends and i like that watson is useful for cases/knows things holmes doesn't sometimes coz thats like. such an essential element to sh stories for me and a loooottt of adaptations tend to just completely forget it so that's a win but idk if anything they're too tame? like i dont expect a romance but they can't just be casual friends they need to be bat shit crazy about each other. to me. but like maybe that'll develop over the rest of the podcast we'll see

kinda related to that point but case-wise i think holmes is a bit too ahead of everyone else sometimes which isn't inherently a problem but it does once again smell of bbc which like. noone should ever emulate moffat writing don't do that 🙏 god bles. but i've been able to solve every case along with/before the mcs which is like. thee point of mystery stories for me so yea i really like the stories themselves so far, especially the way they manage to make them solvable even without visuals or narration. OH and i almost forgot but i rly like the soundtrack, i love it when sh soundtracks have a heavy emphasis on violins coz. yknow

howeverr i am on my hands and knees begging them not to give watson a girlfriend tho like please oh myfffucking god . obvs watsonlock doesn't usually factor into my enjoyment of adaptations given that like. y'know. out of the hundreds out there theres only two where either of them is even gay so it's not something i expect nor require but like. to me it is essential that these two ppl are insane abt each other and don't really have anyone else, definitely noone important. like even the rdj movies got this despite ritchie's obsession w the 2 men 1 woman dynamic so idk why i'm constantly having to wage a war against random unnecessary romances for either watson or, god forbid, holmes. when the only interesting relationship either of these men have is with each other. that one granada holmes quote about them choosing not to include mary coz holmes and watson dont need anyone else etc etc. like i seriously dislike it when they introduce anyone else like cmonnnnnn thog dont care

anyway tldr. i guess if asked to pick a short description i'd say. promising? i hope it's gonna be good in the long run. the way they do mysteries is already something i like so. i hope they keep that up and i hope the h&w relationship evolves into something i enjoy coz so far i'm like. i can see the bones of smtg i'll potentially like but it's not there yet. but also like. this is an indie production i'm listening to for free so ion wanna rip into it these are mainly just what i liked/disliked based on the preferences i developed with this one quick trick (grow up completely insane abt sherlock holmes -> consume every adaptation that you can get your paws on -> no profit)

In general I must say I believe every interpretation is somewhat valid when it comes to art.

Let's say you're listening to a break-up song some guy wrote about his very specific ex-girlfriend Aleisha. You might read the backstory to it and learn about Aleisha but you're probably not going to think about This Guy's Girlfriend Aleisha when you think of the song, but your personal experiences with similar themes of heartbreak/separation instead.

Like yes, technically the 'correct' meaning behind the song is about Aleisha but the story in your head, the one that applies specifically to you, is probably more interesting to think about than Aleisha.

What I'm trying to say is although I have very specific storylines and themes in mind when I draw, I like it when people take what I give and spin their own little tale out of it, y'know? I think it's neat. The best FNAF theories were the wrong ones.

Buuuut that's just how I feel about it anyway.

I think the closest thing to a time where I felt the need to shut someone down was the bit of drama that happened in the notes of this piece (<-- again, horny art lol). Just cus I felt like it was kind of not really even related to the artwork and I don't think I actually really even cleared up how I portray scott/pearl but what can I do 😭😭

(just for the record for anyone who's interested, I don't see them as romantic OR platonic. they hate eachother so deeply that it comes back full circle into passion and care for each other, in that "if i lose you i lose what i live for" kind of way that can only exist within fiction. romantic-coded but not romantic if that makes sense? like batman and joker)

also i don't like being policed and im a rabid animal so if the Internet ever did get on my nerves abt the way i draw or don't draw something I would probably just go straight the opposite direction out of spite lol (FYI the above incident is a-okay to me since everyone was reasonably respectful but I've definitely seen some over the top reactions to stuff in the past. ppl on tumblr tend to be polite tho)

okay so, he's not gonna stop drinking for you. dude's an alcoholic, through and through.

and, he doesn't want to leave you alone because he loves you and he likes having you with him.

but...he realises that you don't like the atmosphere of the rowdier bars he frequents, or even the nice bars late into the night.

people shouting and making unnecessary comments, loud, horribly-sung music, all the drunkards crowding together and closing in around you.

it's terrifying and Venti's used to it, but you aren't and he understands.

you can stand him being drunk alone, because he's just dumb, funny and flirty - which, honestly, isn't much different from regular Venti.

so, what exactly does he do to help you out?

solution one: drink at home, sing his own songs, and recreate the atmosphere of a bar with just you. He doesn't care much for the patrons either - they're fun to be with, but he much prefers you.

solution two: take you two a calmer bar like Angel's Share (usually while Diluc's around so he can keep everyone in check) and defend you like Phoenix Wright.

as for your social battery, Venti just knows when you're running low. No matter what he had planned, no matter who else wants to see either of you, as soon as you get a little bit irritated, he's ushering you home.

he can't cook anything fancy, but he lives off bar food and he'll pick up something or haphazardly make something for you. Sure, it isn't elegant or well presented, but it fills you up, calms you down, helps you relax and tastes pretty damn good.

he'll cuddle with you, sing you an impromptu tune, tell you a good story, or just let you sleep while he takes care of everything else. If you need to get away from people, Venti will know and he'll handle it perfectly.

he'll stop whatever he's doing and immediately remove you from a social situation with some vague excuse:

"Well, I-- oh! Look at the time! Y'know, I think my darling lover and I should get going right about now, huh? Buh-bye, now!"

and he'll let you do whatever you want straight after, whether it be flee the scene like a villain or collapse on the street from tiredness.

"Oh? Have you had enough for today, my love? I agree, let's get you home and I'll take care of the rest."

"Don't worry about them, dove. All that's important is that we get out of here. No matter the situation, I'll handle it. You just rest. I love you."

Kamadeva, now locked in the brig of the Waverider, poured some of the glittery ashes of his vial into his hand, blowing them through the air vents and to reach all the other rooms and Legends aboard in the night.

"Now, what are you doing, dreaming about me, love?" John asked. His trench coat had been removed and his sleeves had been rolled up to his elbows as he sat on the edge of your bed.

"The fugitive must've done something. It's fine, y'know, can't two friends hang out in a dream?" You chuckled nervously, sitting on a beanbag on the ground, crossing your legs and trying to act perfectly normal, although you knew that Kamadeva's magic wasn't for friends and John had special abilities when it came to dreams - he knew you were dreaming then and when you woke up, he'd know you'd been dreaming about him.

"Friends...that's not how I'd describe you and me. The way you act around me...it's not typical for friends, is it, sweetheart?" John asked with an undeniably attractive grin on his face.

"Don't call me that." You said, unable to stop heat from rising to your cheeks as John tilted his head to the side.

"And why not? I do it all the time. Or is it suddenly becoming less...friendly?" John asked before you felt your body stand up and walk to him. You definitely wanted to be near to him but, unaware of how much John would know about this dream when you woke up, you had to try and resist having fun. You came to stand just in front of him but he pulled you closer still, holding you by the waist as he guided you to straddle his lap.

"John..." You started, feeling your heart race as John leaned in towards you, pressing a kiss from your jaw to your neck to your collarbone and then pulling away to look at your flushed face as you gasped and breathed heavily, chest heaving up and down for John to marvel at.

"Pretty..." He mumbled with a dazed smile on his face.

"What?" You asked, not believing his words despite the whole situation being a fantasy.

"I said, pretty. Prettiest "friend" I've ever had the pleasure of knowing." John said, making you smile and look away from him. John seemed to realise the effect of his words and how you partially didn't believe them.

"I mean it, love," John said, snaking a hand behind your head to cradle the back of your neck, but when he watched you shudder and flinch slightly as his hand touched the skin, he grinned wickedly.

"Oh?" He asked, testing his theory of sensitivity by ghosting his fingers along your neck again and watching as you fell apart.

"John, I--" You managed meekly, but he only chuckled deeply before coiling one hand around your neck and tightening his grip ever so slightly as the other palm rested on your thigh.

"And how do you enjoy that, love?" He asked, watching your breath hitch but noticing your blatant satisfaction. John squeezed a little harder before letting go completely and smiling charmingly at you before leaning in and pulling your head down gently so your lips could meet his.

Unfortunately, just before the kiss you had dreamed about would occur so vividly in your mind, you woke up, panting heavily and in desperate need of a cool down.

You walked into the kitchen where the girls were, in just your pajamas, hair a mess and heart racing.

"The fugitive get to you too?" Sara asked, a smile on her face as Charlie beamed brightly.

"Yeah." You nodded as Sara handed you a glass of cold water.

"Well, personally, I really enjoyed my night. Blowing David Bowie's mind." Charlie grinned as Sara chuckled and Zari rolled her eyes with a smile.

"Who'd you get a leg over, Z? Wait, lemme guess, Nate? No, Kamadeva?" Zari stayed silent but raised her eyebrows making you and Sara look at her incredulously.

"Both?" You and she asked.

hey, i started following you recently and ur bio says ur a hacker? any tips on where to start? hacking seems like a v cool/fun way to learn more abt coding and cybersecurity/infrastructure and i'd like to explore it but there's so much on the internet and like, i'm not trying to get into anything illegal. thanks!

huh, an interesting question, ty!

i can give more tailored advice if you hit me up on chat with more specifics on your background/interests.

given what you've written here, though, i'll just assume you don't have any immediate professional aspirations (e.g. you just want to learn some things, and you aren't necessarily trying to get A Cyber Security Job TM within the next three months or w/e), and that you don't know much about any specific programming/computering domain yet.

(stuff under cut because long)

first i'd probably just try to pick some interesting problem that you think you can solve with tech. this doesn't need to be a "hacking" project at first; i was just messing around with computers for ages before i did anything involving security/exploitation.

if you don't already know how to program, you should ideally pick a problem you can solve via programming. for instance: i learned a lot back in the 2000s, when play-by-post forum RPGs were in vogue.  see, i'd already been messing around, building my own personal sites, first just with HTML & CSS, and later on with Javascript and PHP.   and i knew the forum software everyone used (InvisionPowerBoard) was written in PHP.  so when one of the admins at my RPG complained that they'd like the ability to set multiple profile pictures, i was like, "hey i'm good at programming, want me to create a mod to do that," and then i just... did. so then they asked me to program more features, and i got all the sexy nerd cred for being Forum Mod Queen, and it was a good time, i learned a lot.

(i also got to be the person who was frantically IMed at 2am because wtf the forum is down and there's an inscrutable error, what do??? basically sysadmining! also, much less sexy! still, i learned a lot!)

the key thing is that it's gotta be a problem that's interesting to you: as much as i love making dorky sites in PHP, half the fun was seeing other people using my stuff, and i think the era of forum-based RPGs has passed. but maybe you can apply some programming talents to something that you are interested in—maybe you want to make a silly Chrome extension to make people laugh, a la Cloud to Butt, or maybe you'd like to make a program that converts pixel art into cross-stitching patterns, maybe you want to just make a cool adventure game on those annoying graphing calculators they make you use in class, or make a script for some online game you play, or make something silly with Arduino (i once made a trash can that rolled toward me when i clapped my hands; it was fun, and way easier than you'd think!), whatever.

i know a lot of hacker-types who got their start doing ROM hacking for video games—replacing the character art or animations or whatever in old NES games. that's probably more relevant than the PHP websites, at least, and is probably a solid place to get started; in my experience those communities tend to be reasonably friendly to questions. pick a small thing you want to do & ask how to do it.

also, a somewhat unconventional path, but—once i knew how to program a bit of Python, i started doing goofy junk, like, "hey can i implemented NamedTuple from scratch,” which tends to lead to Python metaprogramming, which leads to surprising shit like "oh, stack frames are literally just Python objects and you can manually edit them in the interpreter to do deliberately horrendous/silly things, my god this language allows too much reflection and i'm having too much fun"... since Python is a lot of folks' first language these days, i thought i'd point that out, since i think this is a pretty accessible start to thinking about How Programs Actually Work under the hood. allison kaptur has some specific recommendations on how to poke around, if you wanna go that route.

it's reasonably likely you'll end up doing something "hackery" in the natural course of just working on stuff. for instance, while i was working on the IPB forum software mods, i became distressed to learn that everyone was using an INSECURE version of the software! no one was patching their shit!! i yelled at the admins about it, and they were like "well we haven't been hacked yet so it's not a problem," so i uh, decided to demonstrate a proof of concept? i downloaded some sketchy perl script, kicked it until it worked, logged in as the admins, and shitposted a bit before i logged out, y'know, to prove my point.

(they responded by banning me for two weeks, and did not patch their software. which, y'know, rip to them; they got hacked by an unrelated Turkish group two months later, and those dudes just straight-up deleted the whole website. i was a merciful god by comparison!)

anyway, even though downloading a perl script and just pointing it at a website isn't really "hacking" (it's the literal definition of script kiddie, heh)—the point is i was just experimenting a lot and trying a lot of stuff, which meant i was getting comfortable with thinking of software as not just some immutable relic, but something you can touch and prod in unexpected ways.

this dovetails into the next thing, which is like, just learn a lot of stuff. a boring conventional computer science degree will teach you a lot (provided you take it seriously and actually try to learn shit); alternatively, just taking the same classes as a boring conventional computer science degree, via edX or whatever free online thingy, will also teach you a lot. ("contributing to open source" also teaches you a lot but... hngh... is a whole can of worms; send a follow-up ask if you want that rant.)

here's where i should note that "hacking" is an impossibly broad category: the kind of person who knows how to fuck with website authentication tokens is very different than someone who writes a fuzzer, who is often quite different than someone who looks at the bug a fuzzer produces and actually writes a program that can exploit that bug... so what you focus on depends on what you're interested in. i imagine classes with names like "compilers," "operating systems," and "networking" will teach you a lot. but, like, idk, all knowledge is god-breathed and good for teaching. hell, i hear some universities these days have actual computer security classes? that's probably a good thing to look at, just to get a sense of what's out there, if you already know how to program.

also be comfortable with not knowing everything, but also, learn as you go. the bulk of my security knowledge came when i got kinda airdropped into a work team that basically hired me entirely on "potential" (lmao), and uh, prior to joining i only had the faintest idea what a hypervisor was? or the whole protection ring concept? or ioctls or sandboxing or threat models or, fuck, anything? i mostly just pestered people with like 800 questions and slowly built up a knowledge base, and remember being surprised & delighted when i went to a security conference a year later and could follow most of the talks, and when i wound up at a bar with a guy on the xbox security team and we compared our security models a bunch, and so on.  there wasn't a magic moment when i "got it", i was just like, "okay huh this dude says he found a ring-0 exploit... what does that mean... okay i think i got that... why is that a big deal though... better ask somebody.." (also: reading an occasional dead tree book is a good idea. i owe my firstborn to Robert Love's Linux Kernel Development, as outdated as it is, and also O'Reilly's kookaburra book gave me a great overview of web programming back in the day, etc.  you can learn a lot by just clicking around random blogs, but you’ll often end up with a lot of random little facts and no good mental scaffolding for holding it together; often, a decent book will give you that scaffolding.)

microcorruption: very fun embedded security CTF; teaches you everything you need to know as you're doing it.

cryptopals crypto challenges: very fun little programming exercises that teach you a lot of fundamental cryptography concepts as you're going along! you can do these even as a bit of a n00b; i did them in Python for the lulz

the binary bomb lab is hilariously copied by, like, so many CS programs, lol, but for good reason. it's accessible and fun and is the first time most people get to feel like a real hacker! (requires you know a bit of C beforehand)

ctftime is a good way to see when new CTFs ("capture the flag"s; security-focused competitions) are coming up. or, sometimes CTFs post their source code, so you can continue trying them after the CTF is over. i liked Stripe's CTFs when they were going, because they focused on "web stuff", and "web stuff" was all i really knew at the time. if you're more interested in staring at disassembly, there's CTFs focused on that sort of thing too.

also, like, lots of good talks out there; just watching defcon/cansecwest/etc talks until something piques your interest is very fun. i'd die on a battlefield for any of Christopher Domas's talks, but he assumes a lot of specific x86/OS knowledge, lol, so maybe don’t start with that. oh, Julia Evans's blog is honestly probably pretty good for just learning a lot of stuff and really beginner-friendly?

oh and wrt legality... idk, i haven't addressed it here since it hasn't come up in my own work much, tbh. if you're just getting started you're kind of unlikely to Break The Law without, y'know, realizing maybe you're doing something a bit gray-area? and you can cross that bridge when you come to it? Real Hacking TM is way more of a pain-in-the-ass than doing CTFs and such, and you'll learn way more with the latter, so who cares lol just do the fun thing

different anon, as someone who technically is still a dsmp fan (although at this point i consider myself more a fan of some specific streamers who happen to be on the smp, and haven't watched a dsmp storyline stream since january), everything you said makes complete and total sense. i don't fully agree with every point made, but i agree with most of them, and honestly that -- combined with. y'know. actual person dream being revealed to be... Like That -- are probably main reasons behind my growing disinterest in the server itself. i still really like some of the creators, but. the story's degradation combined with some of the creators i don't like getting steadily worse... i really don't care about the server anymore.

but as someone who has kept up with the more current stuff, i can just say that. basically everyone is cheating off of wilbur's storyline homework in some way or another. quackity's current thing with las nevadas is being regarded as him "drawing parallels" between him and wilbur's character arc, and with wilbur being revived it's being seen as him being a character foil -- i do not think these people know what a narrative foil is, because it's not just a carbon copy -- but in all honesty he's just doing pogtopia wilbur v2. the egg arc has been "resolved" technically, but it less got resolved and more just petered out and died pathetically after a genuinely really good stream (red banquet) where they set up interesting things. it's just. done now.

techno seems to be incapable of allowing his character to develop whatsoever. he never lets his character suffer, never lets him hurt, and even outside of the monotone acting his character never loses anything. he's invincible and that doesn't seem set to change. even now, when he got tricked into being trapped in the prison, he made it clear that his character isn't even remotely bothered by this. does he have a plan to escape? maybe, although if he does it's gonna read as a shoddy deus ex machina because he didn't set anything up aside from "press this button and i teleport out." did he know he was being trapped? it's not clear, he might've known or he might've been just incredibly stupid. it's boring. he's less a character and more a brick wall with a rocket launcher.

and i feel bad for tommy The Person, because he's clearly gotten stuck in a bit of a content mentality. he got a big reaction from his character suffering in pogtopia, so he did the exile arc. the exile arc got a big reaction, so he did more similar things. it feels like he's gotten stuck in the mindset of "the fans like angst, so i need to continue to just endlessly torment my character with no purpose or goal." his "death" had even LESS permanence than wilbur's, because he got full on revived two days later just so his character could be traumatized some more.

the server is somehow simultaneously too ironclad in its story (not leaving room for others to jump in with ideas like a rp should, such as eret wanting to return in the pogtopia arc, or the egg plot being just ignored) and way too open ended (no clear rules or laws, lack of communication between people -- the "villain" team on the january doomsday showed up a whole 30 minutes earlier than the scheduled time without telling anyone, seemingly because "war isn't fair." those streams are an absolute disaster.) it's a little disappointing because some of the people involved are clearly talented; wilbur is a decent writer, although clearly more suited to a dungeons and dragons DM type of medium, many of the streamers are pretty good actors and not horrible writers / could be better with practice, and some of the newcomers, like ranboo, clearly have experience with roleplay character-driven storytelling and are very good when they're actually given the chance to do things. the whole thing is really disappointing, all in all.

BUT UR ABSOLUTELY RIGHT ON ALL OF THIS- and speaking of "drawing parallels" with characters, i feel like its become a MAJOR crutch for the writers lately. its not only in universe with c!tubbo being compared to c!schlatt or c!quackity being compared to c!wilbur, it extends to myths too. i find the whole c!tommy = Theseus thing and whenever techno starts writing to be sorta a "get out of jail free card" yknow? they don't actually have to write their own plots or characters, just mimic that from myths and legends and i dont think it gels well with wilbur's somewhat original plot [i understand it was just minecraft hamilton, but it had some charming stuff in there yknow?]

and god yes you put my problems with c!techno into words beyond his voice acting, i don't want to imply that he's written his character to be invincible [or the olden term, a "gary sue"] but god it certainly comes off that way. i get so confused when i see people say "oh c!techno has been hurt over and over again!! why are things so terrible for him?" when he got "betrayed" once and that's it, its just so stupid and i cant understand the love for his character

and speaking of tommy, i totally agree. i dont mean to speculate on the kid's mental health since that's mega weirdchamp but combined with the constant angst his character is in plus his recent bad run ins with twitter, i hope he's doing okay. and on a side note, i hope his character gets to have the happy ending he deserves because man. Man.

BUT I HAD NO IDEA ABT THE EGG ARC KINDA BEING WRAPPED UP?? thats so disappointing oh my god. i'll read into it more since im curious about how it ended but god the fact that it sounds like it didnt have a bigger ending is just. wow. the annoying green man villain with no real motives and less of a stage presence gets all this hype and a bigger "ending" [yknow, him being sent to jail] than the eldritch creature that was growing throughout the smp?? wack.

i think one of the bigger problems of the dsmp story is just that. wilbur introduced some basic ideas and basic world stuff and instead of expanding on it gradually in a satisfying way, the new writers just went ham and didn't know what made the original so enjoyable, even tho it was, again, minecraft hamilton. i've seen some people claim that the new writers are better at precise intense moments but i heavily disagree with that, but thats probably because a lot of them involve dream yelling for his acting and i cant take that man seriously even in character.

♡  As you can tell, Ishikirimaru is a very good listener. His whole life as a sword was to listen to those of the pained and give guidance. Even if he couldn't exactly do that in his sword form, he can do that now! He will listen to everything you have to say. Don't be shy to ramble to him. He will give you a happy smile as he listens. Tell him about the things that make you happy, what make you angry, what makes you laugh, and what makes you sad. Ishikirimaru will be right by your side, offering tea and a shoulder if you need it. i just love writing dialogue so much. i do a lot of dialogue studies--basically listening to someone speak and writing down what they say word for word including the filler words, pauses, everything--and i also just pay attention to speech patterns in order to like. pick up on common ones.

there are so many different types of speech depending wholly on who is speaking and what they are trying to say. the same person can speak totally differently in different contexts. personalizing a character's dialogue to make it unique to them is so interesting to me like when you can tell who is talking based solely off of speech patterns, like you don't need to tag the dialogue, that's so fucking cool

cuz think abt it; can you recognize some of your friend's typing? some of those little quirks they do when typing that you just know are them? or some words they spell wrong or words they just won't quit using? everyone has a little thing they hold on to for no reason, something stupid and irrational that they do becuz they're so used to it it makes no sense to stop now

ALSO you have to take into account regional dialect?? but also making the dialogue understandable for the reader. like, making it clear this person has an accent, but also kinda translating that accent for the reader who may not understand that the misspelling is really just a phonic spelling of what the speaker said out loud. sometimes it's better to do two different speech things the first time; what the person was trying to say vs how it came out. but like, not every time, only the first. ex.:

"can't y'all leave me alone already? i'm gettin' tired of this," she snarled. but when it came out of her mouth it sounded more akin to "can't y'all leave me alone al'eady? i'm gettin' turred a 'is."

see how the second speech is a little harder to read? it's like, that's really what she sounded like, but since we're not in person there's nobody to pronounce that out loud and the reader might not understand.

ALSO ALSO: the average reader only really cares abt dialogue + action. description is there for the writers and avid readers--also to pad the page count, but y'know. that's why a lot of ppl who aren't into reading will prefer dialogue-heavy books or things like romance novels becuz it's not filled to the brim w/ pages of dialogue! that isn't to say you shouldn't write description, just that you don't need to shove in 3 paragraphs of description for every piece of dialogue. description heavy books are great from a writer's perspective, but the reader just wants to know what happens next.

okay so also the other night while i was thinking abt what i wrote in the other post (here), i was also thinking abt autistic!sara (which is smth that came about a while ago when me and this account's other mod (mod chocolate) were talking a lot about neurodivergent!legends). and this follows along with team movie nights, bc idk,, my brain was just stuck on team movie nights the other night. but anyway:

so like,, the team has regularly scheduled movie nights bc it's just smth they do n literally none of them ever miss a movie night pretty much no matter what's going on bc they just,,, don't. but that doesn't mean that movie nights are always such a super great time for everyone

so like obvi some of the movie nights end up being on sara's bad days like,, days where it's just,, oh boy sensory overload big time w o w,,, n so everything on those days is just a little bit,, too much. n everyone else like,, "y'know we can always reschedule", but sara is, of course, Stubborn n she just,,, refuses to sit movie night out, or to push it to a different day. so like the stubborn dummy she is she just sits there n deals with it even though it's all too bright n too loud n just,, too everything. so she kinda just sits there n doesn't even bother trying to pay attention to the movie n she's got a headache/migraine coming on n she can't really relax either

ray and ava usually notice these things since they're also autistic. and gideon notices too bc,, well bc she's gideon. n so gideon, w/o being asked, takes care of all the technological/electronic things that she can. like she turns the lights down super low (almost completely off) n she turns the brightness of the TV down n she turns the volume down n things like that. most of the legends don't even notice bc most of them at some point or another have needed or asked for some kind of accommodation like that

ray and ava take care of anything else that they can do to make sara more comfortable (especially since it prob wouldn't be like,,, super uncommon for one of the 3 of them to be struggling w/ sensory overload, n whenever one of them is, the other 2 do what they can to make it a little more bearable). so like they make sure she has enough space n she's not crowded. n ava probably quickly goes n grabs sara an oversized hoodie n the shark plush she got her for her birthday bc she knows it like,, helps make some things more comfortable for her since it's like a comfort item for her. they end up all sitting on the couch, with ava on one end n ray on the other end n sara in between them but like,,, there's enough room that it's comfortable n not suffocating for her

at one point everything is still kinda just,,, too much but sara is still being Stubborn n refusing to just like,,, go sit somewhere quieter for a bit. but like,,, she kinda seems like she's about to like,,, shut down so ava n ray decide to try n quietly get her to go with them to a different room like,, the library or the captain's office or smth. n sara eventually caves n decides that yeah it's probably best if she just,,, chills somewhere else for a little bit. they all go to the captain's office (n everyone notices them get up n go but no one says anything or draws attention to it bc it's just,, not smth you do y'know?). sara immediately curls up in her favourite armchair n it takes a couple minutes but eventually she feels like she can breathe a little better n she's not as overwhelmed by everything. ava n ray sit on a couch/other armchairs or w/e n just sit with her for a while n they all just chill together for a bit

and also!! kinda separate from the above ^^ but!! the 3 of them (ray, ava n sara) also def have their own movie night one time n they also invite felicity n kara n they all watch the movie called The Reason I Jump (which from what i've read is a movie abt autism n like,, general autistic experience like,, through the eyes of autistic people). they're all super excited abt watching it n they vibe super hard w/ it n they have a great time. like they pick felicity n kara up from earth n then commandeer the rec room n all crowd around w/ a shit ton of pillows n blankets n beebos n other plushies (bc kara, felicity n ray absolutely Love plushies n soft things. ava n sara like them too just not quite to the extent that kara, felicity n ray do). they're also just in like,,, super comfy clothes like pjs or smth or they're in super cool animal/character onesies (which was also prob caused by kara or felicity,, or ray,, probably mostly kara though bc she Would)

ibuki and you definitely have short attention spans in common, as she’ll even write memos to make sure she remembers things, as she’s said herself. she also goes off on tangents in the middle of discussions, which, adhd solidarity, but even hajime remarks that, “There's no way [he] can keep up with what she's saying...” she also does get scared, or at least unnerved, rather easily! whenever nagito is... you know, nagito, she remarks that he’s a creep, and that he seems like the type who... well, was violent towards animals as a child, to not make it graphic. the two tend to not talk, probably part of her trying to avoid his creepiness factor. in terms of your enneagram and mbti type, i’d say that you and ibuki share a lot of traits there too! ibuki can definitely be sensitive, or perceptive, of others’ feelings, as unlike others’ free time events where the focus is their character arc, a lot of ibuki’s are spent with her trying to help hajime. plus, a big thing in both the 7w6 and estp types is wanting variety, hands-on work, and not having to stick to one schedule. ibuki is definitely this type of person. she holds the title of ultimate musician for a reason, and has experimented with at least two genres of music (pop and metal), as well as writing her own lyrics, making her own costumes, and she can play at least three instruments(bass, guitar, drums). she definitely has made variety for herself, just the way an estp likes it.

though ako udagawa is a close second! like ibuki, you and kasumi are both very energetic, in a way that definitely rubs off on people- i don’t know you personally, but just reading your ask puts me in a better mood. i’d say that your energy is part of why i’m so motivated to get this done... it’s kind of like, reading your ask, i feel like i can do anything! and that’s the kind of energy that kasumi puts out- with her band, and even just making other friends, her natural charisma(that i’m certain you have) causes her to inspire the people around her... even if by mistake. from rin, to arisa, to saya, everyone in her band and even the people outside of it are inspired to try harder(see arisa’s arc of being more social despite her shyness) and even grow as people(see rin’s arc of stepping out onto glitter*green’s stage when they show up late, and saya’s arc of expanding beyond her family) due to her influence. i feel like you can maybe relate to this if you take a step back, your energy and pep are absolutely contagious!! and i’m sure many other people would agree. she gets excited very easily, and always tries to see the fun in everything- at the very mention of her town’s festival, she loses sleep over it, and when it comes to the “sparkling and heart pounding” feelings she gets over stars and music, she actively pursues that thrill. once again, as an ESTP, i think you can relate to seeking out that specific kind of pleasure- it’s stimulating in a way i think you really adore!! she literally follows stickers on the sidewalk because they have stars on them, and wants to see more, and decides to start a band when she sees the random star guitar. even if arisa “doesn’t” want her to, she’s so excited that she barrels through any trials or tribulations.

the two of you also get distracted rather easily- as an example, kasumi, in the main story, essentially has a school assignment where she’s supposed to make a case. ambitiously deciding to make one for her guitar, she then proceeds to get distracted from the assignment and taking a few more days than needed... because she was practicing said guitar. i wouldn’t be surprised if something like this happens to you every now and then, where you get an idea, but something newer and fresher rises up! kasumi also forgets things very easily- for example, in the special episode “origami fun,” arisa tells her how to make a paper crane... and she forgets all but the first step quickly after. i think that you could also relate to that, it’s not that you’re trying to be insensitive or ignoring them, but your mind is just so all over the place that it’s hard to keep one thought nailed down. she definitely uses more eccentric language, ie giving all of her friends nicknames, as well as some quotes like, “sparkling and heart pounding”, “it’s like whoa!”, “nom and nom and nom...” etc. i don’t really remember any times where she stretches out her words, but she kind of... has that vibe. i expected her to, and went digging for quotes... it was surprising to not find any. she also can get scared rather easily, though!! see the band girls of the dead story for this one, kasumi is noticeably disturbed at the mention of a horror movie, and strongly dislikes any kind of horror.

first off, i think both you and seiko are very well meaning, energetic people!! the way i feel reading seiko’s dialogue is very similar to how i felt reading your ask, contagious energy like i’ve said before and like... nothing can really go wrong! both of you just have very comforting presences. she’s very peppy and gets excited rather easily, especially when it comes to naomi. she’s a positive and upbeat person who tends to find the good in everything, trying to keep her and others’ spirits up whenever her friend group is sent to heavenly host. she canonically uses phrases like dis, dat, and doe(dat ass/booty, to be specific), and tries very hard to be casual-like with others! while her smiley-ness is a bit more of a facade in seiko’s case, she does try very hard to be that kind of casual that you can describe, once again, even when the main kids are sent to heavenly host, and she’s just as terrified as everyone else. this may come off as her being insensitive or “creepy,” as naomi says, but in reality, i think both of you would try to stay strong if you really couldn’t get out of a situation like that. especially if there was someone you were trying to stay strong for- maybe part of it would be the pressure of usually being the moodmaker, but i think a lot of it is that you’re just trying to keep people happy, including yourself. after all, if you tend to try and fun the fun/good in everything around you by default, your natural response is to do the same in a bad situation... whether it’s a coping mechanism or just habit. she can also overstep boundaries at times, but she has such a good presence that people tend to just see her as... her. she’s typically the one initiating conversation with other people, which i think is part of the ESTP’s natural charisma and friend-making skills !! she’s a general moodmaker in friend groups, you know? i think you can relate to that, with how enthusiastic you seem. plus, in the introduction sequence, seiko is sitting on a desk, whereas everyone else is standing around properly. just a little detail that imo says a lot!

seiko can get distracted easily, as there aren’t too many examples, but whenever she first gets her part of the sachiko charm she says “I'll have to be extra careful not to lose my piece!“ ...the opposite happens. i don’t blame her, though,, she’s also described to not be the most responsible student(as in she has fallen asleep in class at least ones, thanks book of shadows.. and while it may not be exactly applicable to you, naomi’s... physique, tends to draw her eyes. does drag out her words every now and then  (specifically man?) “Maaan, we’ve been had!” “Maaan... So close, and yet so far!” “Na-o-miii...” and so on. she can also get scared rather easily, as both ayumi’s ghost stories and heavenly host visibly scare her. the latter is much more understandable, but it still shows that she loses her nerve rather easily, despite her cheery exterior. also, relating to 7w6 types, a common thing they do is justify others’ actions to avoid being upset themselves. seiko also does this whenever naomi ends up pushing her away, saying that she was just scared. of course, she was, but this is an explanation born out of seiko trying to get rid of any frustration with naomi that might grow. maybe you’ve had an experience like that, where you tell yourself that there has to be a reason that the other person did “that”, whatever your that was.

Hello half valid anon here (i like my nickname 😂). I got through all your fics and they were all great. Right now im just reading a lot of poi fanfics and watch fanvids cause i can't accept that the series is over 😂 --- i know what you mean about fics affecting you negatively. I had this with 13rw (the Show and some fics) everything was so dark and hopeless that i had to stop watching it. I also love to seek out fics where someone is hurt so i can feel my pain through the characters (1)

But i try to read only fics with lots of comfort so it kinda feels like i get comforted as well (dont know if that makes sense). If it makes you uncomfortable or if its unhealthy for you to write about this i completely understand and i dont mean to come of as pushing you to write. I just hope whatever you do will be the right decision for you! As for you feeling suicidal im sorry to hear that. Let me know if there is ever anything i can do to help! I really think Shaw would grow on you (especially since in the beginning she does a lot with John) but then again a lot of her later scenes include Root so im not sure. Yes i love that there were never any romantic undertones with her and John!!

Yeah big mood I project a lot on comfort fics as well. For suicide fics, I think it also depends on how the fics adress the subject. It's something that is complicated to write. If I read a suicide fic with no recovery I'm gonna project but feel like shit. But with recovery, I can project into the recovery as well so it's better ! I read a really good ace attorney fic showing Miles recovering after a suicide attempt, it was thoughtful and didn't fall into the pitfalls of magical super fast recovery/love heals everything, and some lines stuck with me, it was really good and comforting. But yeah if it's just a suicide/suicide attempt then I don't think it's good for me (but sometimes I still read it bc I'm a Dumb Bitch).

Dw you didn't come off as pushing 💜 I'll see how I feel about continuing it or not. let’s start off w/ wisely since he was the Star of that posti lov to base hcs like these in canon fact and?? wisely shows a ton of symptoms, palhis gigantic hatred of hygiene immediately to me was just 👀 bc? same?? not wanting & actively avoiding hygienic stuff is a symptom as well as neglecting other needs, so is sleeping way too much & that typically sounds like a mood disorder symptom to ppl but it’s in schizophrenia too & wisely’s sleeping issues plus the fact that? he really seems perfectly well-adjusted mood-wise = schizophrenia, not to mention he rlly shows a lot of avolition? which looks like laziness but is actually a symptom where he rlly just can’t work up the energy to do things and naturally doesn’t have the same motivation to do certain things that nts havealso, like, even the earl called wisely out as always being eccentric (even in comparison to the other noah!) when he reincarnates which translates in everyone’s minds as “very very strange and absolutely not thinking the same way other people do” and just. so much in the way he acts are hallmarks of negative symptoms in schizophreniacatatonia, too. if we still used subtypes like that (which we don’t) then i’d def place him as a catatonic subtype

and ofc we haven’t really seen much/any evidence of hallus or delusions for him but one could sincerely make the argument that all of the noah hallucinate re: how they see/interact with their inner noah and how wisely finds that rlly hard to control, especially since we have violent impulses sometimes too y'know? people like to pretend it doesn’t happen and a lot of times we’re more vulnerable to violence but we’re also susceptible to being more violent & losing our hold on reality enough to hurt othersplus, i really like to imagine that wisely, considering how he interacts w/ people & how his mind-reading works that he gets a TON of auditory hallus & that contributes to his headaches & he probably gets confused a lot & gets reality checks from tyki & road often

i think road would be helpful at giving wisely reality checks even tho she’s psychotic herself & they’d probably help out each other and balance each other out bc they aren’t hallucinating the same things, obviouslyi’d think a lot of road’s symptoms would manifest as paranoia & visual & auditory hallus, and she’s very, very self-aware of the fact that it’s not real but she’s so lost in her dream world anyways that she can’t tell very often what really is reali think road would embrace it a lot too and at this point in her life probably has a really good balance with her hallus and is used to them, but i imagine it used to be that she wasn’t so acclimated & that she used to have a lot of visual hallus in the form of flashbacks & i bet especially she has the same issue the earl has of hallucinating neai like to think she’d have taste hallus too, like tasting blood for no reason, which, from personal experience? super weird, that, & that’s part of why she loves candy so much bc Pure Sugar makes it easier

we’ve seen the earl hallucinate before & i’d say a good chunk of that is bc of his trauma but also i feel like all those years he’s been around? would confuse him a great deal & he’d have hallucinations of really old things, hearing voices he hasn’t heard in a hundred years, seeing people he hasn’t seen in a thousand, not to mention he’d also have a lot of hallucinations of nea & a lot of confusion in generali feel like he’d be schizoaffective, like me, altho probably bipolar instead of depressed type, but maybe i’m still projectingi bet a lot of negative symptoms come out in him too & some are justified ofc, e.g. paranoia but also the fact that he also just gets exhausted and needs so much time to recoveri bet he’d have to deal w/ disordered thinking and speech a lot too & spaces out a lot & he just generally appears Weird to anyone else even tho everything he does makes total sense to him, always, like putting 15 sugar cubes in his tea

i like to think all of the noah who are more in touch with their noah side are psychotic, bc i’m very, very in love w/ these super strong noah family members & what can i say? i want to see myself in themand i also just appreciate how they act around each other like it’s so understanding & they KNOW what the others are going thru, e.g. road and wisely always understand why the earl gets so lost and know how to help him, the earl and road know how wisely trails off and acts strange and zones out and are perfectly fine with it and make sure the others treat him well & not like it’s a problem, and i bet wisely and the earl help road any time she starts losing herself and retreating too much from them and they know how to bring her back and they all just!! deal with their symptoms really well together and understand each other!!

solution one: drink at home, sing his own songs, and recreate the atmosphere of a bar with just you. He doesn't care much for the patrons either - they're fun to be with, but he much prefers you.

solution two: take you two a calmer bar like Angel's Share (usually while Diluc's around so he can keep everyone in check) and defend you like Phoenix Wright.

as for your social battery, Venti just knows when you're running low. No matter what he had planned, no matter who else wants to see either of you, as soon as you get a little bit irritated, he's ushering you home.

he can't cook anything fancy, but he lives off bar food and he'll pick up something or haphazardly make something for you. Sure, it isn't elegant or well presented, but it fills you up, calms you down, helps you relax and tastes pretty damn good.

he'll cuddle with you, sing you an impromptu tune, tell you a good story, or just let you sleep while he takes care of everything else. If you need to get away from people, Venti will know and he'll handle it perfectly.

he'll stop whatever he's doing and immediately remove you from a social situation with some vague excuse:

"Well, I-- oh! Look at the time! Y'know, I think my darling lover and I should get going right about now, huh? Buh-bye, now!"

and he'll let you do whatever you want straight after, whether it be flee the scene like a villain or collapse on the street from tiredness.

"Oh? Have you had enough for today, my love? I agree, let's get you home and I'll take care of the rest."

"Don't worry about them, dove. All that's important is that we get out of here. No matter the situation, I'll handle it. You just rest. I love you."
