I like to say I’m okay with my interests having very small/pretty non existent fandoms because that means no stupid drama even if I wish the things I liked were more acknowledged, it’s better to take them in a vacuum then mainstream cause some of the stuff I like if it got bigger would be more mixed, possibly even controversial-

and I still stay true to that but I also remember how my interests could’ve been decently popular yet all of them got screwed over in some fucking capacity somehow regardless if that was intentional or not and I low key get a little mad.

LIKE JUST AS A POINT OF REFERENCE (I’m listing these all in chronological release order):

Big O: flopped in Japan but when it was brought over to the states it apparently did well enough to get a season 2, but cn were fucking stupid and aired the second season on adult swim rather then its original home network toonami, which is likely why it fell into obscurity when it could’ve been up there with other old animes if people saw the entire thing because a lot of anime popular from toonami are remembered

Kikaiders anime: Was like only popular in Hawaii but the anime was dubbed and aired on adult swim- only problem is they gave it a 12:30 am time slot and even if it first aired in summer a lot of people probably skipped out on it- also I have a hunch that even tho big o on adult swim definitely got less traction it and kikaider afaik aired around the same time, and big o time slot came first. People if they did know big o got moved probably only watched adult swim for that then shut off the tv for kikaider, which further shows putting big o on adult swim was not a good idea. (Oh and the fact this was a anime reboot for a toku even if it was somewhat more accurate to the manga probably didn’t help the reception in Japan, next to how little interest there seemed to be for it given it was so short)

Shin Jeeg: Literally flopped so hard in Japan that it wasn’t even considered getting a dub besides Thailand and Italy, Italy being the only place Jeeg is fucking remembered. It’s no wonder this one probably the most forgotten among my interests despite being a dynapro mech and a reboot directed by fuckinv Kawagoe.

Casshern Sins: I have zero clue what japans reception of it was but probably not high when it’s “an edgy reboot”. As for the west it did got aired on toonami and is LITERALLY the only anime I like that is legally watchable on crunchyroll but it became forgotten cause it aired on toonami when people stopped caring for it, and crunchyroll only tends to show what’s popular so you’d only find this show from really digging.

Getter the only thing I’m not listing here next to it’s still decently remembered-big o is too, but at the same time it goes under a lot of mecha fans radars-but also cause I’m perfectly accepting of “the times it aired on tv it was super old and only part of it got dubbed, then the rest of it were ovas before not getting anime content for fucking years” like that’s a fair reason to be forgotten- but everything else just feels like I’m cursed 💀 (and I wonder how the cycle will continue when I gain yet another old anime robot interest because it will happen- eventually)

5 - What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?

Words by The Real Group, backed-up by absolutely nothing but my own imagination so far. But also, c'mon, there's no way this man is a fighter. He's a talker and I know he's a rather talkative one at that.

10 - Could you be best friends with this character?

He reminds me of someone I know whom I constantly find myself laughing when I'm around. Goshiki as a character already makes me laugh a lot, and I think it'd be the same as a person - albeit the reasons would slightly change. I could get along, and I know I'd love his personality despite everything, but considering, uh, y'know, his line of work, I think I'd mostly be on guard while trying to get away and avoid him because y'know. danger.

But speaking realistically is boring most often than not so crime stuffs aside, focusing on what we know about his personality, yeah I'll be on board (partially, like I already stated, because of the person I know) now the real question is would he even bother to pay me attention lol

14 - Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.

I suck at remembering aesthetics and what they're about. Can I be a basic bitch and answer dark academia? It's not even correct but alas.

I'm gonna go hide behind the argument that we've seen little of him so far, and he was always wearing suits. He's wearing formal clothes like his three oldest brothers (Shikaba to Hibaru are more casual) idk

If I were to force one onto him I'd make him wear expensive but comfy clothing (when he's not doing business). He's so unbothered I hope he lazes around all day while Tokyo is in a state of (mostly) lawlessness and the threat of fratricide between his brothers is increasing. The world is burning down in the back meanwhile he's just chilling. I hope he's living his best life.

23 - Favorite picture of this character?

Seeing a smug-looking character be caught off guard is the most thing ever. It's also the only time we see him with his eyes fully open and not droopy (they aren't that much during Terasu's flashback but whether it's him getting droopy eyes with time or Wakui changing his design slightly can't be confirmed yet), it makes him appear a bit younger (not that he's old to begin with). I'm still debating if he's got sideburns (bc it does seem like it in some panels and not in others) and honestly I usually hate sideburns but he's the first one to not only get a pass from me but also have me hope he actually has some. It adds to his charm.

Anyway, so far it's this one because seeing him panic was the best. Specially since he was the only Yotsurugi to.

24 - What other character from another fandom of yours that reminds you of them?

It's tempting to do the same as tumblr user emimaki and answer Inspector Gadget ngl. gosh now I'm thinking about him having an astro and it being gadgets Inspector Gadget-style. Crazy how first it was Kakucho that got compared to him and now it's Goshiki. What is it with that hairstyle that makes ppl think about Inspector Gadget.

On the top of my head, Spamton from Deltarune. Because they constantly smile and when they don't/when their expression is suddenly neutral or serious you know something is wrong and you're fucked (it's always the case with smiling characters. waiting for Goshiki to have his moment(s)). Plus Spamton is hella fun too (despite the horrors)

…To be clear, this doesn’t really say anything useful. The CA fics have been accumulating kudos for almost 10 years and the HP fics for just about as long (and they were originally published to LJ and only moved to AO3 later), while Leggy Blonde has been up for less than 2 years. So ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ make of that what you will.

5. Do you respond to comments?

Yes, always. It may take me a bit, but look, if someone takes time to comment on my work I feel compelled to at least say thank you. The joy is in the moment of interaction, not in the hoarding of praise.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Probably The Fall of the House of Black. If you read the epilogue, that is.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Most if not all of my fics end happily and there’s a bunch that are mostly fun and fluff. But only Heartwood ends with a wedding. 😛

8. Do you get hate on fics?

No. I got one (1) terfy comment and one that was a bit douchey once, but I don’t think I have the reach to attract actual hate. Or I’ve gotten lucky so far, idk.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

For a long time I didn’t because I didn’t enjoy writing it. I’ve come to be a little more open to experimenting with it in recent years, occasionally challenged myself to lean into it a bit more, and I guess it feels like less of a bother now even if it’s still not my forte. So some of my stuff is either more softcore, or just completely smut-free.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

No. I only enjoy crossover scenarios when they happen spontaneously when chatting with friends in an unhinged “yes, and” arms race towards the most ludicrous possible outcome. I have no interest in crossover fanfic, neither reading nor writing it.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

No. But back in the 2000s I translated my first couple of fanfics that I wrote in a German speaking forum into English when I moved to a different space within the same fandom.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

@greaseonmymouth and I collaborated on a fanwork for a now extinct fandom in… 2009 or so? It was a true marvel, a thing of beauty, a magnificent stroke of genius. It is no longer associated with either of our names. But part of me still thinks I peaked there.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

Johnsquared. Quite possibly.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Unghhh the epic Cjizzy metal band AU. The epic eat pray love Johnsquared. I want to finish them so badly. I really do. But maybe I love them both too hard.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I’m really good and efficient at setups, outlines, and occasionally very funny with dialogue.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Writing sincere endings that I don’t hate.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

Idk man. Look. It depends. What are you trying to do here? Does a character canonically codeswitch? Fair. But do you speak the language in question or is it just gonna be basic tourist speak? Do you just wanna flex that you know languages that your readers might have to look up? Are you smug that you used google translate? Are you using other languages consistently throughout the fic in all instances, or are you just marking out one character as the non-native speaker? For a bit of ~local/ethnic flavour?

What I’m saying is “it’s complicated.”

Also. Eh. Idk. I wouldn’t do it in my own fic. I have seen some godawful incorrect German in fanfic that clearly came from google translate and that no native speaker would ever utter and I always wonder what the purpose of that is supposed to be. At times it’s jarring my incompatible within a limited narrator’s perspective. Obviously everyone can do whatever the hell they want in their own fic. I just don’t get the why of it most of the time I see it and I wonder if the writer ever bothered to ask themselves “why am I doing this?”

These are my... 2...? Maybe 50, cents about the whole "freejk" thing. I'm gonna be extremely petty and at some points a whole lot sarcastic and it's gonna be long but I had to say it. As soon as I get my computer I'm gonna make it under read more, but the app does whatever it wants, as we know.

Listen, this ain't my first fan rodeo, and not even the first fan rodeo where I've been directly or indirectly accused of being some sort of pervert or delulu. I've been in fandom spaces since I was a teen, I was shipping mlm couples when queerbaiting in TV shows was still something that was seen as the norm rather than some cheap disgusting trick. I was there when fanfic spaces saw "slash" fics as something "different" and to be tagged with a more mature rating even when they just looked at each other.

I was in BBC's Sherlock's fandom and I shipped Johnlock during the hiatus between S3 and S4, at this point I'm not even feeling it when people call me delulu or a weirdo.

So, yeah, take this with a grain of salt: as a person who has seen thousands of times fandom drama unfolding and has lived too much of it... This whole situation is so ridiculous it makes me laugh. Like, yeah, it's maddening how people will blame anyone and everyone because they don't even see their own bias and homophobia, granted, but like... It also makes me laugh for the sheer dumbassery of the reasoning behind it all?

Like... Y'all are getting mad and for what? Because it sure as hell isn't the invasion of privacy, since y'all are watching the same content we're all watching and you're paying to see it the same way everyone else is. If you don't want to "invade their privacy", you should just... Stop watching content that isn't their music videos, RUN episodes or interviews. Memories and any kind of dvd/video that shows what they're doing behind the scenes shouldn't be part of their job as musicians, and therefore we're intruding in their privacy... Or aren't we?

Or maybe it's more nuanced than that: maybe the content they release on dvd/on their official channels is part of their job as entertainers, and it's been approved, and it's a small window THEY are granting us.

You know what's the REAL invasion of privacy and what REALLY invalidates someone autonomy? When you, who maybe aren't even paying to see that content (which is something I understand, like, dude, I'm not covered in money either), DEMAND what kind of behind the scenes content you want when I swear ABSOLUTELY NO ONE has asked you. Once again: you don't like it? You think it's some huge invasion of privacy? Don't buy it. Don't interact with it. Convince your friends to do the same. For all I care, just go and petition to boycott this kind of content. I know you won't do it, because... That's the thing, isn't it? It's not the invasion of privacy that bothers these people.

Y'all aren't mad because we get into their business or else you would have gotten real mad when we were privy to REAL private moments like people crying their hearts out.

No, no. Y'all are mad because it's "shipping content" and "fanservice" which apparently bothers you because it lacks authenticity.

Pick a side, lovelies: either you DON'T want to invade their privacy, and thus all the content they release should be focused on what fans want to see, or you WANT to know how they interact TRULY in private.

And here's the catch: "shipping content" can be anything. Shipping existed WAAAAAYYY before the word for it was invented, same way with fanfictions. Shipping means, literally, "seeing two (or more) people interact and thinking they would make a good romantic pair". That's it. That's quite literally it. Everything else is just some nuance of the concept of shipping, but at its core, it's nearly impossible to ban all shipping content when it's a group of seven people, because they should for real go in social distancing mode to do so. Most people who have parasocial relationships tend to have "ships" whether they know it or not, because we've all, at least once, looked at a dynamic from the outside and thought "oh man they look cute together". So, even if, o dear ones, your wishes were granted... What the hell do you mean by "shipping" content? Should they just film solo clips, avoiding talking about the other members? But wouldn't that be fanservice, since it's focused on pleasing the fans? (Which, ultimately, is what fanservice MEANS, and I hate to break it to y'all but the whole concept behind entertainment and thus all the content BTS releases it's... For the fans. Like, they're not going out of their way to just meet our expectations but they're certainly doing fanservice by the mere act of releasing bonus content.)

But it's not even quite that, is it? Because no one bats an eye if it's Tae kissing Nj's cheek. I've seen no hashtag against everyone - and I mean literally every one of them - wolf whistling at Nj. It's okay to show intimacy... Because they're bandmates and it's okay to be close to someone who you see basically 24/7, I hear you. And it's also okay when people see that and gush over that closeness, because it's such a nice thing to see.

Are y'all mad cause people pointed out there's very little way a bruise that stayed for a whole ass night could be a quick bite? Because that doesn't harm jk, at most makes fun of him and jimin and their poor excuses (seriously, guys, next time consider using mosquitoes or "I was doing stuff". It'll be equally embarrassing but at least the meme will be funny), and it's literally... A fair observation. Like. It's a hickey, people are gonna make jokes about seeing a hickey and poor excuses of covering it up in the exact same way they're gonna make jokes over jimin falling out of chairs. And yeah, a hickey is AT LEAST something that happens in a sensual context. Like, I could understand "people who are extremely familiar with each other will have different body language/touch in areas where usually you wouldn't see friends touching each other", but that's not. Not a hand on the thigh. It's a hickey on the neck. I don't even know a more stereotypical placing for a hickey. But once again, are y'all mad because someone is pointing it out? Because that's not being delulu or even being a shipper, really, it's just commenting on something that was approved to be shown and discussed in something that was released BY THEM.

Are y'all mad at hybe for showing something that literally fell onto their hands? Cause like, unless someone (I'm counting on Jimin, since as we know Jungkook was busy spinning him round and round and had both his hands busy) called at hybe headquarters to say "yo bang pd substitute, is it okay if I give my friend jk here a hickey? Cause he's being really annoying rn and he has to pay", I highly doubt anyone expected Jungkook to come to rehearsal all neatly marked up. Or idk, maybe someone at hybe asked them "we need Jungkook to come in with a hickey but refuse to say it's a hickey, so that fans will feel reeeeally served." That sounds perfectly plausible too. Or a good marketing strategy.

Now, if you're a big company and your objective is to have some footage of the rehearsals for a concert, and the fandom is too good at noticing stuff for their own good, and one of your artists comes in with a very visible mark, and he and his bff bropal4lyfe come n with a story about how they were playing and a bite happened, you've got three choices: 1. Cut the artist out of aaaaalll the footage. Someone would have noticed the "bite mark" anyway, you best believe that. If you don't want anyone to notice it, you gotta cut him in most of the footage where it's visible. 2. Keep the hickey, discard the explanations. You could do that, but also it would feel a lot more unfaithful to everyone involved. Also they clearly worked their ass off to invent an explanation, come on! They truly tried to do their best inventing something that was not "it's a mosquito bite", they should get some credit! 3. Keep the bite, keep the explanation.

Notice how none of these solutions include the biting never happening because... They couldn't prevent it? The only thing they have any control over is how they're framing each "accident". And that's not an easy job.

So... On whom should we cast the blame now? Ah, yes, I think it's finally time for the ultimate scapegoat of this fandom: Jimin. Which is funny, cause... You know... If this were really about privacy, or being "victims" of shipping... This should be about freeing him too, you know? But obviously Jimin does it for attention, while Jungkook, poor angel that he is, doesn't even know what shipping is.

Furthermore, don't we all know how much Jimin imposes himself in Jungkook's life? To the point where he, multimillionaire man feels compelled to share a car with Jimin even if they're both late in the process. And can't you see how uncomfortable he is, draping himself over Jimin, making Jimin drap himself over him?

Oh lordy, truly such an awful eight years Jungkook spent, choosing to have vacations with someone who made him uncomfortable, spending free time with him, even having to suck his ear in public to the point you can see his saliva just because Jimin was sad :( truly an all-around bad time for Jungkook, as evidenced by alllll those times when he said Jimin was pretty, cute, and all-around knowing every little thing about Jimin. I absolutely concur, the dude would be so much more happy if jimin was not in his life.

Jungkook is out there living his best life, getting hickeys and showered in affection and y'all paint him as a fucking martyr??? It’s really funny that somehow I know more about the source material than people who are actually in the fandom, despite being much more of a casual viewer, but like, it’s not that hard to look up??? And realize that Sesshomaru never ‘adopted’ her (fuck, I know that and I’ve only seen like three seasons of the show), because literally all their relationship consisted of was Rin following Sess around for a year (one (1) year), while basically taking care of herself (he didn’t even feed her ffs), occasionally with Jaken’s help. All Sess himself did was keep her alive, which.... man, if that’s what y’all consider a father/daughter relationship, I’m genuinely concerned. Especially since, after that year was over, Sesshomaru dropped her off in a human village so that she could be raised among her own kind and then choose, for herself, where she wanted to be. If that kind of relationship when Rin was young makes their relationship after she grew up off-putting to you, that’s completely valid! What isn’t valid is claiming that your feelings are the only valid ones, and that Sess must have had romantic feelings for her when she was a child, which is never suggested anywhere in canon.

Secondly, there’s no reason to believe she was thirteen when he got her pregnant, what???? Everyone looks weirdly young in Yashahime’s art style, for one thing, (though notably, she just doesn’t look that much younger in the birth scene than Kagome) but I’ve been over the timeline (more for curiosity’s sake than anything else) and, quite apart from the fact that Rin had no canon age in the OG series (idk how the fandom settled on 8, but that was never actually stated, and she could easily have been a few years older--she was small but also uhhhh she’d been living like a feral child and pretty constantly malnourished before Sesshomaru found her so she would have been tiny for her age anyway), at the youngest she’d have been 16 or so. Which you may not think is great, and that’s fine, but it’s not the worst thing to come out of canon pairings in shows, so I fail to see the issue there.

Sess is supposed to be physically/mentally 19, the way Inuyasha is meant to be physically/mentally 15. The show wasn’t great about conveying this, but no one yelled about 150 year-old half-demon Inuyasha falling for a high schooler, so??? (Nevermind that this is a staple in shows with immortal protagonists. Which isn’t everyone’s cuppa, and that’s fine, but I get the appeal. I kinda have to, Bangel being one of my ultimate OTPs.) They are demons. They don’t view human lives and mortality and morality the same way we do. They don’t have to! It’s actually really interesting to think about that juxtaposition, how demons view humans but then some of them fall in love and those views change, and how half-demons bridge the gap between those two worlds... it’s fascinating. And for Sesshomaru, famously disdainful of humankind, to have fallen in love with a human woman and had half-demon kids of his own??? That’s even better.

I really gotta ask, though, who y’all even thought that human might be before the reveal lmao.

The thing is, I’m not even really in this fandom. I have a passing interest, I’ve seen a good chunk of the show and enjoyed it, I don’t really ship anything except inukag and a bit sesskag because I’ve seen some artwork and fanworks that really intrigue me, but I thought that piece of art was cute and reblogged it. I don’t have any real opinions on the ship itself, except that people are losing their minds for no reason, because it’s easy to blacklist tags and block content and also if the show itself disgusts you bc of its canon pairings then don’t watch it??? There are plenty of shows I don’t watch because I hate the things they do in canon (see: why i never got into Game of Thrones) but I’m not about to ask people to not reblog things from those shows just bc I don’t like them. If it bothers me that much, there’s blacklisting and tumblr’s filter system. Also blocking, if it’s really that huge a deal.

But I’ve never had patience with this kind of argument where, like, people who really hate a ship have decided that it MUST be pedophilia, despite their insistence on information that isn’t even canon, like. It happened to me, not long back, when a group of atla blogs decided that Jiang was an adult, despite there being no canon basis for that belief (and a lot of canon basis for her being a teenager, since all her crew were around the gaang’s ages), and so if I shipped her with Katara I must be a pedo. I hated it then, and I hate it now, and if you don’t like my particular stance on this, you don’t have to, but I’m not budging.

Okay, let's set the scene, shall we? You arrive to find that, with our playthroughs anyway, your ex has barged into your home. I say "barged in" because although we (Geralt) know that Yen's help is necessary and she'll be tagging along, the other witchers living there are given no prior warning and, according to Vesemir, Yen teleported in without so much as a "Hello." She then immediately starts ordering everyone around like her servants, failing to explain the situation beyond there being a curse that they have to help with. No, this isn't negotiable. She (still being an ex) takes your old room for herself, which just happens to be the biggest in the keep, and proceeds to toss a bed out the window. It's only later that Vesemir recalls that Triss used to use it, so prior to that everyone apparently just accepted that Yen was destroying their stuff for no understandable reason. Classic Yen. You go upstairs to find her cursing a blue streak at her failed experiment and when you try to lighten the mood, she snaps at you. If you're of the opinion that Yen's every order must be obeyed, this is when you're supposed to drop the conversation entirely, because she said to. Except, funnily enough, you'd like to know why she's up here being The Worst Guest Ever and destroying your property. She tries to justify this by saying that destroying a bed is better than how she could be dealing with her anger over Triss. Be grateful and all that. Except, it's not really about Triss, is it? The line is "You shagged my friend. For upwards of a year. I don't know what your witcher's code says on the matter, but ordinary folk would consider it obscene, base, vile." The blame is not on the woman who knowingly manipulated Geralt into having sex with her while he was vulnerable, it's on Geralt himself! He is the "obscene, base, vile" person for... daring to have amnesia? And when you point that out - "Yen... told you already. I lost my memory" - she yells that she's "lost [her] patience" and teleports you into a lake! This is, apparently, how she really wants to deal with her anger. Not by destroying beds, but by attacking you for things outside of your control. And I do consider it an attack. Yen is meant to be insanely powerful, she is leveraging her magic as a weapon here, particularly when Geralt has spent the whole game commenting on how much he hates portals. Yen knows this. Not just because he says so in her presence, but because she frequently reads his mind, something else he's expressed discomfort with. She's not just demonstrating her power (controlling) and sending him away when he makes a point she doesn't want to acknowledge (immature), she chooses the one thing she knows makes Geralt uncomfortable, perhaps even scared. Then when you've swum your way back to shore and returned to, despite all this, begin her list of chores, she makes a dry comment about how next time she just might drop you high enough for the fall to be fatal. With the next time implied to be, you know, the next time you disagree with her. The next time you dare to do anything other than agree with her every belief and jump at her every command.

The fandom interpretation of all this: "Lol Geralt getting yeeted is so funny. And their banter is just 😍"

You mentioned red flags and yeah like that ENTIRE SCENE is a crimson banner for me. I mean, by all means, love the fictional ships that are super messed up (I often do), but it astounds me how many fans honestly think this is just a cute interaction with absolutely no problems attached. Nothing to question here, folks. I've mentioned before, but last I discussed this in depth the asker wanted to know if I'd been an asshole to Yen and... that's it. That's the perspective. Any disagreement with her, any pushback, anything that's not complete, blind obedience is something she will not permit AND something most fans take as a given. If you're not doing what Yen tells you to, you're automatically the asshole, and if you're the asshole, you automatically deserve any punishment she chooses to dish out.

Comic spoilers coming up if you want to skip, but this is made abundantly clear in "Curse of Crows." Yen and Geralt are at their best in the moment below, enjoying one another's company on a nice day. Yen asks if Geralt wants to swim and he says nah, he'd rather watch her. She appears to like that idea and, indeed, swims naked while Geralt admires from the shore.

Actually cute right? I really liked this moment! They're cuddled up together and exchanging smiles. It's a rare moment of peace where I can believe that they truly care for one another, outside of passionate sex and not wanting the other dead. Finally, something beyond that incredibly low bar.

...except Yen starts flirting with a young man who shows up, invites him to travel with them, all while refusing to explain why she's interested in his company. The sudden third wheel is clearly bothering Geralt, but Yen continues to ignore his questioning. The answer she finally gives later that night?

She did it purely to mess with Geralt! It's his "just desserts" for "refusing to swim with [her]." She is "not one to be refused - I thought you needed reminding" by giving him "a flick on the nose." When I say that Yen treats Geralt like a dog I mean she literally treats him like a dog. He's a servant who must jump at her every command and if he doesn't, he'll punished for disobedience. He might not even know why he's being punished for a long stretch because Yen enjoys making him think she's a normal person capable of accepting that he doesn't feel like swimming right now - insert the Kaer Morhen scene where she wants to go have sex upstairs, but Geralt wants to catch up with the brothers he hasn't seen in an age here - only to reveal that actually she's made their formerly nice outing uncomfortable because he needs to be put in his place. All of which is followed by, "So... willing to join me now?" The message is very clear! Geralt had better get his ass in that tub unless he wants to be punished some more. Whether he wants a bath right now or not is inconsequential.

This is also the run where she scares the women Geralt was with, despite them being separated right now. Why? "I could."

Claims that Geralt is allowed to return to his companions (who he actually waves away) only for him to realize she's cast a spell to burn him with the water. Yen loves pretending she's okay with things only to punish Geralt for them later - sometimes with physical punishments. And what would have happened if the women had actually joined him again? Do witchers weather hot water better than the average courtesan? Who knows, but Yen clearly doesn't care who might get hurt.

Just like her time in Skellige and at Kaer Morhen, she refuses to explain what's going on. She just expects people to obey her, so-called loved ones included. Geralt was to get her cider, and arrive before her bath went cold, not question what they're doing on this dangerous hunt. He's a servant.

And my favorite, petty moment: transforming her awful inn food into a lavish meal without offering to do the same for either Geralt or Ciri.

"But, Clyde, that's just the comics. They're not really canon." Nah, questions of canon aside, this is 100% Yen's characterization. She's prideful. Immature. Beyond controlling. And punishes anyone who dares to tell her "No." Fans are always pointing out that she's meant to be horrible, she could have been a villain in another life, like any of that explains why I'm supposed to root for this relationship or enjoy her existence outside of being a complex character. Yen is interesting, but she's interesting in a "I can't wait to see her get her own just desserts" way. Not "Wooo now I get to watch this story ignore her behavior again to push a True Love narrative."

She punished Geralt frequently during their first meeting, she punishes him whenever they get together, and, I think, she punished him during the reunion with Ciri. Given our playthroughs, do we really think that after breaking up with her and all this fury over Triss - an anger so deep she destroyed the bed and attacked Geralt - she's just overcome with such joy that she forgets they're not together anymore and forgets the anger she's been nurturing for years? Yen doesn't forget. She's staring at Ciri during that moment, right where Triss is currently running towards them, and then after a considering look at Geralt pulls him in for that kiss. That was calculated. She did that to make a claim she no longer had. To punish them both: make Triss uncomfortable by playing at the "perfect" family reunion; make Geralt uncomfortable by kissing him when she knows he doesn't feel the same way. But of course, the popular reading is that she just loves him so much she couldn't help herself. Riiight.

It's just all SO BAD. (Including, as you say, the ickiness of having Triss lusting after Geralt and referring to Ciri as "little sis.") I love a lot of the women in Witcher - Cerys is a fave, Ciri, Saskia, Philippa, Keira, etc. - but the two I'm supposedly meant to fall in love with are just the worst lol.

I'm a terrible mutual, tbh. My online presence is flaky at best and I rarely look at my dash. I'm happy to chat with my moots if they reach out and I'm happy to interact with them...but I don't really approach them and I go through long periods of time where I miss their content because a) I'm too busy to be on tumblr, b) my fixations have shifted and I don't wanna interact with stuff that's not centered on them, c) I'm feeling particularly tired and/or angry and I'm off tumblr because I know I'm going to lose my temper and lash out at someone.

I try to be nice to people and I try to keep an open mind and I really try to let people do their own thing even if it bothers me. But the thing is?

I'm not a super nice person. I have a minimal tolerance for bullshit and I have a problem with general fandom fuckery. (Like across all fandoms- not just here)

I get angry at fandom and I get angry at my dash and I get angry at myself and, honestly, my presence in fandom is more like a stray cat that wanders in when they're bored or hungry and leaves when I grow bored or irritated by whatever drama is going on that day. I'm selfish and standoffish and, honestly, jealous of a lot of things and people too.

They're not awesome qualities to have in a moot. They're not awesome qualities to have as a person. I try my best to maintain a more positive vibe but, really, it's not always strictly genuine.

And the thing is? It gets tiring trying to pretend that I'm not rolling my eyes at every post on my dash. I'm too old and tired to pretend to like people that get on my nerves. I don't follow those people. I try not to interact with them. I blacklist their tags and I'll block them if they really get under my skin.

I monitor my circle and I do it in a way that's strictly selfish. I refuse to follow someone who sends me into a rant every other day and I'll absolutely dump a mutual if seeing their posts starts to get under my skin. I've done that before and, honestly, it hurt to do that because I did enjoy their content a lot and I thought that we could actually be good friends....I just didn't enjoy them or entertain those daydreams anymore once they decided to dump me like a hot potato.

I've been on all the sides of being a moot- bestie moots, enemies to friends to moots and back to enemies, casual headcanon exchanging moots, the moot that's been dropped because the other found more popular friends + more clout, and the moot that's dropped the other because they started shit talking about things that are Extremely Personal to me and I wasn't about to deal with that.

It sucks being a moot with someone only to find out they've dumped you. And, honestly? That's a veryyyyyyyyy likely possibility when it comes to being moots with me? Which I hate because people don't deserve that and hurt feelings suck and I don't want to upset anyone if I don't have to. But the thing is? I have to monitor my experience on tumblr or I will spiral and become miserable and nuke my chances of being welcome in fandom during an inevitable, public meltdown.

Kinnikuman NanoWriMo

I made a throwaway account teasing a 50k+ Kinnikuman Nisei au. We all grew up on not-even half finished Ultimate Muscle fanfics. The worldbuilding and characters were always so good; you knew the author had more but never posted it. So much of it has been taken down. As a young queer kid, I found representation of myself for the first time in those stories and I miss them. Some of it was like really problematic and scarred me because I was too young to be reading porn. But some of it was really soft and sweet. Like I remember one fic where they snuck out to a bar or something and the one who informed them ("Them" being Mars (and possibly Kevin?)) was Jade. Jade took one sip of his beer, pushed it aside, and snuggled into Mars. I loved that. It was like two sentences in a moderate-sized drabble but it literally affected my life. That is who I am, and it's so nice to have someone else in this world even if they are fictional to look back on and say, yes. I can be a snuggly gay boy who goes out to bars he doesn't like with people who don't speak his language just to spend the evening wrapped up in his love's arms.

The world made me forget that that life is possible. It's not just a dream. Anyway, I have been working on the character analysis (lol that's my snobby way of saying ridiculously long fanfic), but uh... that was a rough year, huh?

It's based on my Love Torn series, exploring Jade's relationship with Mars. I want to be clear that I'm trying to explore a difficult topic responsibly but with the entertainment (porn? humor?) of fanfic. Sometimes I might overstep or whatever, so let me know if something bothers you or I miss a trigger I should have tagged. I'm new to posting stuff and it's a bit too overwhelming sometimes. I have always had a hot/cold relationship with Jade/Mars because I could never get ahold of the volumes that showed them together after the initial Gen Ex saga. I've gleaned that the manga doesn't really explain how Jade forgave Mars and I want to know more. The more I explore my interpretation of Jade's character (which is I'm sure largely inaccurate due to his minimal appearances), the less I can see their relationship NOT being romantic. Maybe it's the gay in me idk. The story itself, however, was inspired by coworkers once I moved back to my hometown after college. I'm from a rural place, so most LGBTQ+ folks haven't come out yet. Or haven't found out yet. We have high rates of domestic violence, abuse, depression, alcohol abuse, etc. The Chojin were also raised in environments like ours because they interbred with humans like us. Imagine dealing with the easily accessible drugs today in a 250lb body that is pure muscle just naturally. Plus they make a living (idk is it conscription? do they get paid? Slave soldiers? I really don't understand their world) as a wrestler, so they work out. As a gay man, I don't love what puberty did to me. I was raised Christian so my sexuality has been a struggle for me. So the puberty of a Chojin? No thank you. We're gonna explore some problematic things but I hope we can have some fun along the way. The sex scenes that I have written (mostly thus far unposted), I've written with one hand over my eyes. I struggle to write porn. If you'd like to write porn within my universe, I for one would be happy to see it so like tag LoveTorn or whatever! It's exciting that the fandom is started to grow again after things disappeared. Yeah, the sexualisation of old men in the classic rock fandoms is... not my thing, I personally don't see it, and I think often it is quite ooc, especially the things I've seen having to do with Brian. That being said, I don't really have a problem with people fantasizing/writing fic etc., to each their own. There's a lot of debate when it comes to RPF but I think people are free to be as weird or kinky as they want as long as they keep it in their own spaces.

That's the thing though! For some reason, when it comes to Brian's *ehm* more enthusiastic fans, they don't seem to realise that they are not the norm.

There's nothing wrong with not being "the norm" in a fandom space, but especially when it's with nsfw subject matter, in order for it to work for everyone, it has to be acknowledged by those people that "hey, not everyone feels this way, and not everyone wants to see these comments on their posts" etc.

I just think they could do with a little more self-awareness and insulation. Clearly there's enough of them that they can all go wild together while keeping it within their own circle. Especially here on tumblr where that is so easy to do. The fact that I myself run across it, while having nothing to do with that part of the fandom, on fucking tumblr, is a sign that hey, y'all need to have more awareness and respect that a lot of people are squicked out by this

That's not an unreasonable request, it's a common courtesy to keep everyone happy. Just, y'know. Tag shit. Don't cross-tag shit. Don't add things to people's posts if you don't already have confirmation that they won't mind that sort of thing. For the love of fuck behave yourselves on Instagram. Keep a line between fantasy and reality. Remember not everyone has the same fantasies. Live and let live and leave the rest of us out of it, please.

Yeah, I think that's the issue. People don't always keep it to their own spaces. At worst it's people commenting "not the free feet pics!!" directly onto Brian's insta (yes, that was a real comment) but even when it's on tumblr, yeah, maybe elder thirst shouldn't be cross-tagged lol because most people aren't into that and it really makes a lot of people uncomfortable. Personally, I kind of laugh off the old man thirsting so I'm not bothered by it, but I can see how someone would be, and that maybe you shouldn't put in the tags of stranger's post how you wanna sit on a 70 year-old's face. Idk. I guess it comes down to etiquette? I also haven't gone looking for this stuff lmao but I've seen enough old man thirst for a lifetime.

I also think people need to learn that this^ isn't ageism; I've seen people accuse this mindset of that and this is where the lack of self-awareness shines bright, because no, it's not ageist for someone fresh out of college to not be sexually attracted to a grandpa lol. uhhh well first of all I think childe x zhongli is like the most pathetic and boring "default" pairing this fandom came up with. they have 0 chemistry and I just hate everything about it. as much as I headcanon both as queers... together romantically it feels like 2 straight men put together by ya*i fans............ also before i blacklisted to ship and voluntarily looked through the ship tag... every post felt like a hard ooc. i could not understand what childe or zhongli are supposed to be as individuals, what they have in common, what kind of dynamic they have. deadass most crack ships with 0 interactions have more flavor than this tragedy

eng VAs are great people and appreciate their work but whoever decides the voices ain't doing it right. every male character sounds like a middle-aged white man.. and most of the youngest characters sound like very obvious adults trying to pretend to be babies. all of it irks me so bad god.. and there are so many characters that lose their little spark in eng........ (yet in korean and chinese they're completely fine??)

all of the playable adult male characters are shitty people in one way or another. none of them are good. they have reasons and different perspectives, yes, but they suck. every single one of them. stop ignoring it or trying to say only some are evil. none of them are inherently terrible.. but they're not these precious and righteous individuals. they're men.................... that says a lot, actually. :\

“Jay?  Is that you?”  You call out at the sound of one of the windows sliding open, shivering at the chilled air that hits you where you sit in just a pair of sweats from your own patrol earlier.  You don’t bother to look up from the laptop and files you have spread out over the coffee table.  The child trafficking case you have going taking the majority of your attention.

“Yeah, it’s me.”

It’s the sound of his voice that pulls your focus from your work, frowning at the off tone of it.  Glancing over toward the direction it came from, you find Jason sitting in the open window with his back to you.  Smoking, then.

“You good?”  But he doesn’t have to answer for you to know that he’s not.  The tense line of his shoulders in his under armor, probably having stripped out of his gear before he got to the apartment, and the fact that he’s smoking out the window instead of just on the balcony tell you all you need to know.

Pushing up off the couch, you head his direction and make sure each foot step is loud enough to be heard.  You come to a stop next to him, leaning a shoulder against the wooden frame of the window.

“Jay?”  Most of the time you wouldn’t hesitate to wrap an arm around him, offering the comfort that he so rarely asked for but always desired.  But the signs were all there for this not being a normal situation.

“Just a tough one.”  You hum in response and wait to see if he’ll elaborate, giving him the time he needs as he continues to breathe in the smoke from his cigarette.  “Lost a kid tonight, probably only 14 or 15.”  Ah, close to home then.

“I’m not going to say it, but you know what I’m thinking.”

“I fucking know what you’re thinking before you even think it,” Jason mutters without any heat, just exhaustion.  “I know we can’t save everyone.  And I know there wasn’t anything I could have done with this, but fuck if it doesn’t suck.”  

Yeah, it did suck.  Placing a hand on his shoulder, you give it a tight squeeze before you hear your phone ping on the coffee table with a text.  Jason grunts, having heard it too and you huff a laugh as you go over to see what it is.

“Dick wants to make sure you’re good.  You were with N tonight?”

“Only reason I didn’t end up doing something really fucking stupid.  Any of the others wouldn’t have been able to stop me.  You and him, fucking assholes.”  And you can’t help but preen at the fact that you hold enough power over him to be compared to his (favorite) brother.  “Tell Dickhead I’ll call him tomorrow and to fuck off.”

Snorting, you shoot off the text just as Jason worded it and tossed in a comment about how he’s already told you what happened and should be good come morning.  The reply of ‘Thanks, Y/N.  Take care of him.’ comes quickly and you toss your phone onto the couch without bothering to reply.

“I’m gonna shower this fucking night off of me.  Want to come?”  Jason’s voice sounds from a few feet away and you look over, smirking at the choice of words.  “Fuck you.  Though, yeah.  That works too.”

“Yeah, go start the water.  I gotta put this stuff away.”  Because you know there’s no way you’re going anywhere other than to bed after that shower.  Jason looks down at the table and nods before moving closer and pressing his mouth against yours, tilting upward just a bit to make up for the height difference between you two.

“Thanks man, I’m glad it’s you I come home to on nights like this.”  The words are barely a whisper against your lips, but damn if they don’t strike you right in the heart.  Leaning down, you press another kiss to his mouth.

“Me too, Jay.”
