controversial maybe but I’ve seen both of vivziepop’s shows (against my will) and I think my main gripe with her writing is that she makes so many of her characters SO devastatingly unlikeable whether it be by not giving them enough substance or just making them downright awful and obnoxious people, especially the ones we’re meant to find relatable. I’ve seen the entirety of HB thus far and I still have no idea who I’m supposed to be rooting for because they’re all assholes 😵‍💫

i’m gonna hop on the stolas hate train with you for a second. Do you know what i feel like he doesn’t get enough lashings for? His inability to see things from Blitzo’s point of view.

I’m sorry but despite being horrendously bad he is simultaneously one of most self absorbed characters ever. If he really loved Blitz to an up to par standard he’d be able to understand the HUGE power imbalance between them regardless of their feelings or time spent together. (might be a spoiler but i feel like you’ve seen it by now) but Blitz out burst to Stolas was super justified , i wouldn’t have done it personally, but i see where he’s coming from.

That moment itself was a rare vulnerable!blitz moment that stolas could’ve used to mend their relationship but instead he made it about Him AGAIN I CANT DO THIS😭😭😭 THEY SUCKKKK GOOD LORDD

Stolas has the characteristics of a Covert Narcissist (obviously he’s fictional, I can’t diagnose a fictional character or real person, but let’s tally it up shall we?):

Lack of Empathy — You hit that one

Sense of Entitlement — he thinks he’s entitled to Blitzø’s time and body, as well as Octavia’s unending patience and understanding when he fucks up and fucks around on her and their family)

Taking advantage of others for personal gain — the whole deal with the fuckdamn Grimoire

Hyper-focusing on fantasies of grandeur — Stolas is King Delusion thinking his obsession with Blitzø is at all equivalent to love, or even liking someone. He also deludes himself into thinking he knows his own child but he ignores her wants when she literally runs away from him on two separate occasions bc he’s not fucking listening to her.

Exhibit passive-aggressive behavior, arrogance, or subtle superiority — Ppl don’t clock this as much as they should but I’ve noticed and gagged at his belittling “pet names” for Blitzø (impish little plaything, itty bitty imp) and how when Moxxie and Millie try to speak to him, Stolas either treats them with disdain/like peasants or doesn’t even look at them when they speak! Not even bringing up how he uses his own imp staff as stress-relieving toys.

Highly sensitive to criticism — Can’t take being called out, has to cry and run away from the truth that Blitzø (and Stella and Octavia) are spitting

Victim Mentality — it’s everyone else in this damn bird’s life that’s to blame instead of himself. “I think so highly of you, I didn’t realize you thought so low of me.”

Fuck. You. Stolas.

I’m sorry this is a wild rant but to be fair it is the Stolas Hate Train (SHT, we should implement an I in there). Obviously I don’t hate his fans. Like what you like. Please. However, I may have some concerns over how young HB fans can get and how they don’t truly see how terribly this character is written because they accept the framing of Stolas as the poor victim in this situation at face value and don’t see it for what it really is, but I’m not their parents. And hopefully the younger audience will grow up and also think ��ew”. At the very least.

I would like to know if the HB writers, and her majesty Vivienne Medrano, realize that they’re framing the Abuser in this situation as the victim but have dug this hole so deep that they just have to keep digging bc there’s no going back or if they genuinely think their targeted audience of adults don’t see through this or haven’t had to deal with abusive relationships themselves.

Okay so I have a legitimate question. Do you think JCA was a visual inspiration for the Helluvaverse? Because either it is that, either there is some insane coincidences going on!

I might be very biased since I am a huge JCA fan, but I regularly keep thinking about JCA's Demon Sorcerers as I watch along Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss.

It first truly began with the Overlords reunion in Hazbin Hotel:

Lots of powerful, high-ranking demons with each a unique design gathering toether to talk? I thought of the Demon Sorcerers gathering - ESPECIALLY since there is ONE member of the group who is just HUGELY disproportionat in size compared to the rest, in both cases.

Then it was brought back to my attention as I watched the recent trailer for the rest of Helluva Boss. The gathering we see of the Ars Goetia demons...

... You guessed it, also make me think of the Demon Sorcerers reunion - especially the little stalagmite of ice thing on which Andrealphus stands, which reminded me of the floating stones the Demon Sorcerers use.

But more importantly, as I looked back at Stolas' design, I realized this was where I first got the Demon Sorcerers vibes. Because what is Stolas when you think about it?

A "tall as shit" sorcerer-demon, humanoid but with strong animalistic traits, and completely red, glowing eyes... Yes, that's also all the design beats of the Demon Sorcerers.

Even more! I realized Stolas directly made me think of Tso Lan, the Moon Demon. Not just because the names are similar, but because of how Tso Lan also is designed as looking like a "demonic noble", and also has a night-sky motif (stars vs moon).

Is it just that, whenever artists have to design powerful magical high-ranking demons for animation, something in their subconscious mind clicks and the same design beats pop up? Or is it that JCA could ACTUALLY have been a design inspiration for the two shows? I guess we will never know but I thought I would point that out...

Especially since the parallels extend beyond just the powerful and high-ranking demons of the Helluvaverse... Hsi Wu, the Sky Demon? When you look at him, tell me you don't think of the imps? Minus the wings of course, but the same idea of a skinny horned demon with a tail and a huge creepy smile. The large bat ears can double as the horns, you have the same "thick forearm" thing going on with Blitzo's family, even a goatee reminding of Blitzo's father...

Again, probably a coincidence, as these are general design vibes when it comes to demons... But still, a fascinating coincidence.

Hello and good morning! I am in search of some Helluva Boss Fanfiction recommendations! I have read so many lately (and I still have about 27 queued up to read) BUUUTTT! There are topics and themes that I am craving that I haven not been able to really find, no matter what tags I use to search, so I wonder if anyone can give me some recs! Even if I've read them before! First and foremost, I am a huge Moxxie fan, and as a Whump lover, I enjoy seeing the little guy in peril. Injured, abused, terrified, manipulated, anxiety/panic attacks, fighting for his damn life! All of it! So any good recs for that would be lovely!

I have read MANY Striker vs Moxxie fics, and even a few Moxxie and Valentino (Hazbin Hotel) fics, but I very rarely come across a GOOD Moxxie vs Crimson fic that isn't either very OOC or that doesn't have Crim "Assaulting" Moxxie as a child, like... Nah, that's just not for me. Makes me really uncomfortable. But we see that Crim is able to hurt and terrify his poor son like no other, and I absolutely LOVE it, and would love to see some more of it. Like, legit, I am excited for his reappearance in the show because he made it pretty clear what his intentions are, and I am excited for that final showdown! So, basically, anything with Crimson terrifying, abusing, manipulating, hunting/stalking, hurting, basically being a total P.O.S dad to Mox. Or hurting his "family" as a way to get at Mox. BONUS POINTS if Mox finally gets to stand up to his dad properly, once and for all. And some MUCH needed Comfort afterwards!

I have also developed a soft spot for some Alessio and Moxxie fics. Either with Alessio caring for Mox after his father's abuse or neglect, being the only form of (albeit reluctant) comfort for the child after his mother passes, things like that. Also enjoying the thought of Moxxie returning home or being kidnapped and looking for Alessio to help him, begging him to save him or stop Crim, but Alessio either guiltily refuses or doesn't step in until things have already gone too far.

I have also come across a collection of Moxxie and Blitzo bonding fanfictions by Cranberryfriend on AO3 called "Blitzo and Moxxie, sometimes friends" and it made me want MORE of their bonding. More of Blitzo being an ass until Moxxie cries, only to realize he took the "joke" too far. More helping with panic attacks, more protection, more talking. MORE SCENES where they develope a relationship, get to know each other more, hurt each other and help each other, because I crave that from them!

I also saw a really fucking cute one where Stolas comes to invite Blitzo to a musical, but Blitzo doesn't want to go (he's having a bit of a mood). Moxxie sees the tickets and gets excited that Stolas gets to see that particular show, so Stolas offers him the tickets so he and Millie can go, but Millie is busy with family, so they both go together! For the life of me, I cannot find the story again, so I don't have a link... BUUUT

I really want more of them bonding! So, all that being said, if you have any recommendations, please let me know!!!

HB S2E4 Thoughts

Gonna get this out while the episode’s still kinda fresh in my mind, also, again, no I’m not gonna stop watching this stupid show and I won’t stop ranting about it because it’s funny and if that’s a problem, then tough shit.

ANYWAY

I can’t decide where I’d rank this episode. It feels like each episode is worse than the last, but this episode is special for a variety of reasons. For one, I really thought it would be longer and not just 18 minutes. The pacing was ridiculous and that’s saying a lot. As shitty as Ep. 3 was, at least I was engaged at certain points, while here, everything felt like one huge joke that ended with “sad Stolas sniff sniff oh Blizo cares I guesss :C :C :C” I’ve seen people say this episode is decent, but...no??? I like Striker and all but even he got fucked in this episode. Lemme try and list some shit out so I’m no writing a wall of text:

- Loona’s plot was pointless, but I’ve been made aware of her VAs irl situation that was most likely occurring at the time the episode was being made, and I won’t be making a joke out of that. If it was too late to properly make changes to the script, then I can forgive the inclusion. The only thing I really liked about them was that there was effort to do SOME worldbuilding with imp racism. I also found the doctor really cute; I was wondering what ring the Baphomets were native to and now I know.

- The main plot was...wow. I’ve seen people talk about the behind the scenes stuff with Stella and Andrealphus and I was so nervous that it would appear and it kinda did and LIKE? WHY? I could be looking too deeply into it but it really feels like they were doing weird, incest-y vibes, and what creeps me out about it is how childish Stella is in this episode. She has this one-tract mind and has to be explained shit that realistically she should already know, like she’s fucking 5, and that plus the incest vibes gives some bad implications. I doubt the shit will be looked into in any meaningful way but stay classy, Viv.

Incest aside, so cute how Andrealphus has to be the brains behind the situation. A woman CANNOT do anything for herself or think logically in HB. Andrealphus’ plan doesn’t make any sense either. Don’t kill Stolas and manipulate money and power out of him...somehow? Are people just forgetting Ozzie’s? Do people STILL not realize Blitzo has a Grimore? Shouldn’t Stolas be ruined already? Even if he wasn’t, killing Stolas and manipulating Octavia while she’s in the mourning stages would be a much simpler plan then whatever’s coming next. I know they don’t have the guts to kill Stolas but make it make sense PLEASE.

- Striker was ruined for me, honestly. I wasn’t his number one fan or anything but I thought he was interesting, but here he’s just some moron with a secret lair that gets revealed in two seconds by the Rango-Ripoff mariachi band, and keeps getting all his quips and shit ruined by Stolas “I can’t think of anything except dick” Goetia. I can’t even be interested in what he said about losing someone to the Goetia because Vivzie HAS to do some jokey, memey shit with her villains every five seconds. Crimson, as stupid as his plans were, was far more serious, and that’s a problem.

- M&M were just there, like, their rematch didn’t even feel like a dramatic part two, and Moxxie fighting those guys at the gas station really spits in the face of “you’re strong for both of us” and the previous episode.

- Blitzo. Blitzo Buckzo. How do you get surprised that Stolas can get hurt when you LITERALLY saw Striker aiming a blessed gun at him. I’m so sick and tired of this show pretending like there’s something there between him and Stolas. There’s not. There’s nothing. Blitzo is just blasé until the plot NEEDS him to suddenly look sad or sound sad and then it’s right back to “Ugh Stolas what do u want” in the next episode. What’s really cute is that I know there’s gonna be post after post about how deep the last minute of the episode was and how Blitzo is just so afraid to show love :C and how Stolas is blah blah blah, which is ironic because these are the same people who say “oh it’s just a cartoon”, “oh it’s a comedy” “it’s hell so who cares”. Well, I don’t care so I guess if that’s what Viv was going for then congrats.

- Stolas had no reason to stand there for 3 seconds looking at Striker and not doing anything. And why didn’t he just go full demon and eat that bitch, like fuck would it kill you to be smart, my dude? I don’t even know why Stella had this happen, like what if Striker decided to go for a two for one and blast her as well? What if she got caught in the crossfire? WHERE WAS OCTAVIA IN THIS EPISODE?

Shit, that’s all I got for now. The more I think about this episode the funnier it gets to me ngl

I watch helluva occasionally, and I had a lot of issue with the newest episode. I feel like Helluva was building up to be something really good but these newest episodes have left me kinda just less and less satisfied lately. If any Helluva fans see this, its just my opinion its cool if you liked this episode.

Anyway— So Fizz and Oz being lovers is meant to be a secret but we’re told its the “worst kept secret” and even see a magazine snippet that shows them being all lovey dovey. I feel like this was a hugely missed opportunity for a better set up and pay off.

Firstly if they’re keeping this a secret, and no one cares, and everyone knows— then whats the point of this. I mean I guess its a joke? But its kinda shown to be something that could have consequences but ultimately doesn’t. That’s kind of unsatisfying, especially to me because this could have been used to set up the plot.

Bro why does Striker just find Fizz and Blitzo wrestling randomly in the street while talking to the mafia? Its like insanely convenient to the point where it felt a bit lazy. I’d be more interested if Striker was hunting Fizz or Ozzie, saw they were romantically involved through his stalking, and realizes he has dirt on the two of them.

Actually why is Striker here at all? We could have just kept this with the mob, because Striker feels way too dangerous to be continually used as a henchman. These latest episodes just feel as though they undermine the frightening ferocity he showed when first introduced. I get he is a hitman, but this episode in particular just made him feel so low. My guy should be doing cooler shit.

I’m guessing the set up is Striker and the mob are working together, but neither of these parties felt competent or dangerous after this episode.

This show is very self indulgent sometimes and I feel like its getting to lost in the sauce. I get it, Fizz and Oz are cute. Show me them having to pretend better, show me how Fizz may feel about being seen as Oz’s playtoy sugar baby. Does that make him uncomfortable? Does he not feel kinda embarrassed being a pampered little thing? Maybe he likes it, but hates how others see him? I dunno give me SOMETHING here. I feel like again, they wanted to do something with this but did nothing with it. If he doesn’t give a fuck show me??? Like I guessed maybe he didn’t, but it felt so like indifferent in presentation I felt again: unsatisfied. I don’t know it just felt like the show keeps presenting an interesting conflict then promptly ignores it.

Blitzo’s relationship vrs Fizz relationship and how they may help one another come to understand things. Fizz is seen as just Oz’s play thing but really the two are deeply in love. Blitzo isn’t sure if he is just having casual sex with Stolas, or if he wants something romantic. I don’t think he wants to be seen as a play thing either. I know Fizz and Blitzo were busy arguing and escaping, but I feel like at least Stolas and Oz could have talked about this..? Idk the lawyer bit was just kinda lame to me.

The conflict was there, the foils were there. They sorta just missed the mark in my opinion.

1) This is unimportant but I find it funny how Brandon calls Stolas “Stol-ass” lmao

2) Episode 2 of Helluva Boss will have a lot of fan-service and it’s apparently the Helluva crew’s favorite episode.

3) Blitzo and Moxxie was supposed to be in Hazbin, but there’s no room for them but since Viv loved them too much she decided to make them both their own show thus creating Helluva Boss.

4) Episode 2 of Helluva Boss is either going to be released before the end of this month OR next month. 

5) the I.M.P are actually good at what they do and can actually kick ass.

6) Blitzo has a huge ass bazooka in one episode.

7) Viv will be voicing one of the Cherubs

8) Robo fizz is gonna be in episode 2 along with Octavia (Stolas’ daughter)

9) Blitzo’s ultimate character arc is going to be so emotional and touchy but very fitting with his character.

10) We’ll get to see Blitzo’s apartment at the end of the season. there will be fight scenes in that episode. 

11) Brandon and  Viv are writing season 2 of Helluva Boss

12) There’s a chance that they’ll bring Mayberry back, either in the end of the season or next season.

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR TODAY'S EPISODE OF HELLUVA BOSS. ALSO FOUL LANGUAGE USED IN THIS EDIT. IF EITHER OF THOSE THINGS AREN'T FOR YOU THEN THIS POST WON'T BE FOR YOU EITHER. THIS EPISODE RUINED ME AND I OH SO BADLY WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT.

Throughout much of my life I've been known as that one "sweet" and "innocent" friend. But in my humble opinion everyone has a dark side. My dark side happens to reside in dark cartoons. Invader Zim, and anything that Viv makes. Helluva Boss took me almost completely by surprise. In fact, in some ways I prefer it to Hazbin Hotel. I love the bonds and relationships between the character and I'm going to be talking about one character in particular, Blitz.

When I first started this show last year after the first episode came out, I almost immediately loved Blitz. He was interesting, but most of all he was funny. Probably the funniest character on the show if you're asking me (I still do his "got the book, got the book, got this fucking heavy book" sometimes because I was laughing so hard I cried.) He also had this protective edge to him. He cared about his workers a lot more than he let on and we got confirmation of that today. He so clearly would do anything for the three people that matter more to him than anybody else.

The major strength in this show is Blitz's relationship with everyone and with himself. From his relationship with Stoliz finally getting some nonsexual development, to his adorable father/daughter relationship with his hellhound Luna, to his individual bond with Moxxie and Millie. Before today's episode I thought that he was overly cruel to Moxxie for really no sensible reason. I knew that there was some deeper hidden issues to why he acted that way because it's Blitz there's always deeper issues. Even though their interactions before this episode were genuinely hilarious I couldn't help but look at their relationship differently after all this episode entailed. Blitz is the protective dad that is always looking out for both his subordinates and his daughter. He also clearly cares about Stolas more than he lets on. That's another thing that I loved about the character development done with this episode (we'll talk more about Stolitz later on).

When you really think about it, everyone in Blitz's life has either let him down or left him at some point. This obviously left him mentally and emotionally scarred in more ways than one. He decided eventually that he should use his smart mouth to push everyone away from him. That way he could never get hurt again. That's actually one of my favorite character tropes other than the goofballs. And Blitz is a goofball but he's also foulmouthed, guarded, a little bit more than a bigoted asshole but it's not without reason. If we get to learn more about how Blitz's life really started. There was so many good character moments in this episode for him and I think that it really helped move his arc forward.

My favorite relationship thus far after this episode has to be Blitz's relationship with Moxxie. I'm so looking forward to where this friendship goes. Obviously they are both musical theater geeks who have that part of their lives in common but I think that after this episode they'll be so much closer. (Can I just talk about theater both of them pls that would be so fun! Just to compare notes about favorite shows. I have the same opinion about Cats Blitz btw highly overrated show.) But my second favorite has to be his relationship with Millie. Their relationship is just so cute and funny how he's always knowing exactly what she needs and offering her water in the middle of the battle and guns when she's using that halberd scythe style weapon. I love looking at the platonic relationships for Blitz because in my opinion they are just as important if not more so important than the main relationships. This entire show is about the element of family. Family can come in every shape and size and that's something that I love about this show. It's not just about a murdering group of imps that are killing people and swearing every five minutes. It's about a group of characters that love and rely on each other for various reasons. It's about the elements of family even if it's broken and bruised that is still your family.

The relationship between Stolas and Blitz to me was a bit of an anomaly before today. I thought that they were funny together but that it wasn't exactly consensual. That was until today's episode. Watching the one that came out today, I found that I was taking a different stance on their relationship. When Stolas came to rescue his Blitzy (never piss off Stolas okay that's just a warning because that shit was terrifying), for the first time I saw a relationship that was consensual on both ends. We saw Blitz actually flirt with the owl prince and it was hilarious to see Stolas go from most terrifying thing in all existence into absolute sub for his lover. I'm looking forward to seeing where this relationship is going because I'm a huge fan of both characters.

Helluva Boss is one of those cartoons that has changed my life over the last year. It's a show that never fails to make me laugh so hard that my sides are aching. My parents are always like what are you laughing at every time that there's a new episode. It's just such a ridiculous show but at the same time my heart broke seeing Blitz in pain. I know that we're going to to definitely see him suffer a lot more since he's going to be the angst development for the show. I'm dreading it but at the same time I'm looking forward to seeing it at the same time. I hope that Blitz does eventually get his happy ending with Stolas and the rest of his found family.

Hi Phoenix!! This is Comsic from AO3 🤗💕 First off, I hope things have been okay with you, and the writing process has been going well (I mean, as well as writing can go, anyway 😅) I saw your tweets regarding Ep 6 of HB (not to mention that lovely fanart!!!) and I hope you don’t mind if I share some of my own thoughts, because hoooo boy, is there a lot to unpack.

So. Blitzo has a MASSIVE inferiority complex. I figured as much from the previous episodes, but this really hammered home for me that he has huge issues regarding his sense of self-esteem/self-worth. I definitely think he feels unworthy of Stolas and fears he means nothing to Stolas in the long run/is seen only as a plaything—this was made especially evident this episode by those two silhouettes of him fanning Stolas during the vision sequence: he quite literally faded into the background. And not to mention that he crawled up the stairs, as opposed to walking upright on his own two feet. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely think that he feels SOMETHING for Stolas (there’s surely a reason that the bit with Stolas is the only one that isn’t visually dark during his vision) but like, yeah… our boys have a LOT of work to do.

Now, this may be an unpopular opinion, but when I first watched the episode, I thought the kiss between Blitzo and Stolas was very… sudden??? I mean, I’m sure they’ve made out a lot offscreen, but I suppose I was caught off-guard by how quickly they shared a kiss together onscreen: I suppose I just wasn’t expecting that to actually happen until some of their personal issues were resolved, i.e. I had it in my head Blitzo had a “no kissing outside the bedroom” rule on account of that being too “intimate”. But the more I thought about it, the more it seemed like maybe it wasn’t so sudden.

Like, I don’t think this was their Big Damn Kiss; it wasn’t really the “focus” of the scene, if you catch my meaning. They seem to be shaping up to be the main couple of the show (will they/won’t they), and I feel that The Kiss between them will have a whole scene/episode building up to that moment, rather than it being almost… downplayed???? That kiss, I think, will come after a couple seasons’ worth of character development ☺️☺️

Not to get Angsty on you, but that whole vision fucked with Blitzo’s psyche, I have no doubt about that, and I think that he’s going to freak out about the fact his feelings for Stolas aren’t as straightforward as he may have been trying to convince himself they were, and he’ll call their relationship off/self-sabotage/do something to Stolas that may or may not be related to THAT scene from the teaser trailer :( I don’t think the photos exposing them are going to bite them in the ass just yet, it’s way too soon, but the fact that Stolas’ image was shown onscreen the longest at the very tail end of the episode suggests he’s going to be the one hit the hardest by whatever punishment awaits.

Hi there, Comsic! 🤗💕 On the writing side, I'm in a bit of a transitional phase right now deciding between working on either TUT ch5 or P&B ch4, especially since both of them have such different atmospheres—and I'd just seen ep6 of 'Helluva Boss,' so that's fresh in my mind—and writing styles. Eventually I'll make up my mind but I'm stuck in indecisive limbo right now, ha.

I love your analysis. I totally understand. I'm flattered that you had a lot to say and went to my Ask to unload THE FEELS from ep6. Because I, too, was hit with THE FEELS. (Ah, the pain train especially. I anticipate we're in for a bumpy rollercoaster ride of suffering in the later episodes, but from a writer's perspective, it's necessary because in order to get the deserved Happy Ending, the main characters have to experience character growth and development. The mutual pining is a staple, as well as establishing character flaws and things that'll need to be resolved between them as well as the context of the hurdles they'll have to face, before we get to the well-deserved "actualized" relationship. I fully hope we get something close to what we saw in the Instas as we progress, with the fluffier times between them.) If we don't see "Stepdad Blitzo" in the show canon, I hope for a "Boyfriend Blitzo" with him officially and openly with Stolas in a relationship in a later season, with him shown to somewhat mesh well with Octavia eventually and maybe the two girls getting along too. I want to continue seeing the chemistry between Blitzo and Stolas, even if there needs to be a brief period of separation to get their sh*t together. I'm putting my expectations low, so that if HB exceeds any of it, I can happily lose my mind and scream.

Blitzo's inferiority complex will have to be addressed in canon eventually. Right now, we see it being set up. The kernels should eventually lead to a situation where Blitzo can't take it anymore (possibly leading to an emotional eruption) and there should be an episode that serves as the "healing episode" where he'll need to learn how to deal with it. It's ok if you got angsty on me, haha. Oh gawd, I'm not ready but I wouldn't be surprised if we see Blitzo self-sabotaging himself in the show. Or it could be a moment where Stolas is forced to stop "their arrangement" (leading to an unhappy owl) and Blitzo can have that time to himself to realize that he's being a dumb-dumb. Personal issues take time to be resolved, and I hope the show shows that growth before awarding us (so that it feels EVEN MORE SATISFACTORY).

I'd liked how the Vivziepop crew went for the open-to-interpretation symbolism in ep6. It makes the writer in me salivate. Of course, I see some takes that jumped the shark a bit too much in the speculation imo, but I think most of us saw what the crew was trying to convey. I can see the foreshadowing and the building blocks that the show is trying to set up for future confrontation(s)/ episodes. It will be painful, but what's a little pain and suffering when we get to the promiseland (hopefully; crossing my fingers and knocking on wood)?

Ah, the kiss. Haha, tbh, I get it. On my side of things, I'm rather desensitized to it as a slowburn writer myself who has to write about people kissing and leading up to them doing the horizontal tango. I didn't expect to see a heavy tongue makeout session in ep6, but I could tell the animators—and especially the storyboard artist who'd worked on those frames and tweeted it—really wanted to give the fans some food. I like the hc myself of Blitzo being uncomfortable with kissing outside of their arrangement in bed, with him slowly growing comfortable reciprocating gestures of affection and even initiating a kiss himself once he gets to a certain point. But it's ok. I don't see it as their "Big Damn Kiss" moment personally as well; I took it as a fanservice gift which I appreciated. I hope in a future season and episode though, when they lay their emotions bare, it's an over-the-top dramatic or touching moment where they actually kiss and it's a point of the story where it means something emotionally (like, yes, this is their happy moment, so they deserve this kiss and it's worth celebrating and losing our minds over).

The last few minutes where we see them recorded on footage...hahaha. The conflict has been established. This is indeed gonna come bite them in the ass. It was a nice touch for the crew to have Stolas say about not wanting to get in trouble, and like a self-prophecy, at the end of the episode we see that he will indeed most likely get in trouble (either with the higher-ups or humans, or what have you). It was a nice cliffhanger to establish a future conflict. (Gotta keep us on the edge of our toes and make the story interesting.)

Chapter 10:  A mission requires a lot of waiting, and Blitzo isn't a fan.

Blitzo crumpled the paper wrapper in his fist, shoving it into his pocket before groaning. On the other side of the yard, Millie was peering over a bush, and Moxxie was settled lower in the same tree Blitzo was on.

He’d gotten a new gun, but hadn’t had time to repaint it. With his luck, he’d barf on this one too, so he was going to wait and had just taped one of his handmade horses to the side to look at instead, Cherry Nut. She was red and brown. He liked her.

God, he wanted coffee. His stomach was gurgling, annoyed, because he’d been feeding it a steady diet of pure-sugar Fairy Stix and mac and cheese for the last few days in order to try and make up for the loss of caffeine. Moxxie hadn’t directly tried to pull the rug out on that one like his typical killjoy self, but it could be because he didn’t actually know about the stix. Blitzo wasn’t really sure how many he’d gone through, but it was… a lot, considering he’d gotten a huge box and was a decent chunk through it. To be fair, it had been about a week and a half since the visit with Stolas. The mac and cheese thing was the new one, the Stix had been at least a week. He'd been able to shove some of the extra cash at the landlord to buzz off, at least, and somebody was coming in to fix the fire damage in a few days.

Unfortunately, the sugar didn’t actually help much with the weight dragging down his eyelids as it should have and he’d been running mostly on sheer willpower, but at least he felt like he was doing something. If he hadn’t, he probably would have just passed out at his desk and woken up with Millie and Moxxie having already taken care of the client for the day, and where would he be as a boss then, huh?

Speaking of which… Blitzo shook his head to try and focus, tightening his shaking fingers. There was a whole family in the cute little house, but the man had insisted that they only take out the father and only when the others left, since he wanted the living relatives to have to deal with the death and the thought that it was a suicide. The target was some cousin who'd super pissed him off, apparently. Blitzo only had the gun as a precaution, to be honest, since this one was supposed to be either a handgun shooting or an overdose, depending on if they found a gun in the house or not.

They’d already been there for almost an hour. The rest of them were supposed to be leaving sometime soon, but the client hadn’t been sure when. Blitzo was charging extra for this shit, his ass wasn’t meant for crouching in a tree forever.

The sun moved overhead, and he swiped his glove across his forehead, the sweat absorbing in as he let out a whine and fanned himself. He was used to Hell, why was it so fucking hot out here? It was starting to make him feel queasy again.

He could see movement through the window, but nobody was going out the door. If the instructions hadn’t been specifically for the death to happen out of everyone’s sight he would have just aimed and hoped at this point.

“Hey, you two see anything?” he asked into the walkie-talkie.

“Radio silence, sir, but no,” Moxxie said. Millie stuck her hand out of the bush and gave a thumbs down, and Blitzo shifted, trying to get comfortable. At least there was some foliage on the tree to block out the sun, but Argentina was his new least favorite place. Turning his head a little, he could see Moxxie wiping at his own forehead, so at least it wasn’t just him.

Blitzo grimaced as his stomach turned like kneaded cotton candy that had gone sour, and he slumped back on the branch, closing his eyes. He’d be able to hear if anything happened, he had highly-attuned senses.

“SIR!”

Blitzo was woken up with a start as a branch snapped directly across his face, and he bit back a scream as he realized that he was falling.

Everything was spinning, and he took a few precious seconds to try and reorient himself before throwing his hands out to try and slow his descent, gripping whatever first brushed past them. From somewhere in the distance there was yelling, but here and now his claws dug into hard bark with one hand and something soft with the other.

“That’s… my… palm…” Moxxie hissed, his other hand holding tightly to the thick branch he was sitting on and that Blitzo was not dangling from. Blitzo forced his fingers to let go of Moxxie, and the other imp wrapped his hand around Blitzo’s wrist instead, starting to pull him up.

“Are you two okay?” Millie asked through the walkie-talkie, accent even heavier than usual in concern.

“My hand’s going to be bleeding for a bit, but I think he’s fine. Just fell asleep,” Moxxie said.

“I did not, I just moved a little too far when readjusting position,” Blitzo insisted, trying very hard not to sound like he’d just woken up, boots swinging wildly as he wiggled to get one foot over to the trunk and walk himself back up to the branch.

“Well, the people’re looking out, so be quiet,” Millie said just as Blitzo’s tail managed to snag one of the other sturdy branches. He gritted his teeth and swung upwards, letting go with his tail at the last moment before lifting one leg up and managing to make it to Moxxie’s branch.

It started creaking only a few moments later, and both imps’ eyes widened. Moxxie scrambled up to the branch above and Blitzo scooted backwards towards the base to where the limb was strongest.

Blitzo slapped a hand over his mouth as the other members of the house started looking around outside, but the tree must have been just far enough away that they dismissed the disturbance amongst themselves.

“Phew,” Blitzo breathed out, moments before his stomach started bubbling and churning again. His other hand flew down to hug it, pressing down on the hard bump.

“Oh, thank satan. That could have been so much- sir?” Moxxie called down, but Blitzo wasn’t about to move his head and risk upchucking. Somehow, knowing it was coming made it so much worse.

“They’re comin’ out now, but heading to the car, this is our chance,” Millie muttered into the walkie-talkie, heedless of the lava erupting in Blitzo’s guts. He kept his hand pressed over his mouth, trying to hold it in as long as he could. The car they were entering was visible through the leaves, and he swallowed down the first wave, glad that at least it hadn’t made it up to his tastebuds.

“Just hold it in, come on, we’ll do the job and let you rest out here, just hold it in…” Moxxie muttered above him, and Blitzo nodded slightly as he heard the engine start through a haze. Time stretched itself out like silly putty until the rumble faded, and Blitzo immediately turned his head to puke over the side of the tree, watching as it sizzled through the leaves and splattered the bark on the way down, carving out a blotchy pattern. It was a gross orangish-pink.

He swished saliva in his mouth and spat it out after the rest of the mess.

“Oh goodness, you alright?” Millie asked.

“Fine. And they’re gonna have bigger problems when they get home than a fucked-up tree,” Blitzo said. “I wouldn’t worry about it.”

Moxxie slid down the tree, grabbing the walkie-talkie before carefully navigating his way around the vomit. He nodded to Millie. “I told him we’d handle this, he can just rest.”

“Good idea, sweetie.” She emerged from the bush. “C’mon, I have a copy of the note, let’s get in and out so we can go home and wash up. Did any of it get on you?”

“No, I’m fine.” Moxxie glanced back up at the tree, and Blitzo glared through the leaves for a moment. Moxxie's eyes narrowed as he turned.

“I’m not a goddamn invalid… ” he muttered to himself as the pair entered the house.

Blitzo didn’t hear a gunshot within about ten minutes, so they must have gone for overdose. He had to pinch himself to keep awake, as he wasn’t about to pull out the Stix again and didn't want to faceplant into his own puke after passing out again. The gun had gotten dropped in his sleep, but it didn’t seem like it was actually broken from this vantage point, so he was just going to pick it up when they left.

As soon as they got back to the office, though, he emptied a full cup of Loona’s mouthwash from the bathroom into his mouth and started gargling.

controversial maybe but I’ve seen both of vivziepop’s shows (against my will) and I think my main gripe with her writing is that she makes some of her characters SO devastatingly unlikeable whether it be by not giving them enough substance or just making them downright awful and obnoxious people. I’ve seen the entirety of HB thus far and I still have no idea who I’m supposed to be rooting for 😵‍💫
