My 20w14infinite server is up and I now have the IP!
The IP should be 142.44.191.87:26935
And here are the rules:
SMP rules:
1. Stealing is allowed because it's 20w14infinite and you can truly always get your things back 2. No griefing or xray 3. No being a jerk 4. No crashing the server 5. That's about it, I can't think of any more rules

to anyone who still cares about minecraft april fools update 20w14infinite, take a book and write “kittycorn” in it and throw it in a portal. on my end it had the most anomalous behavior i’ve ever seen from any dimension in my life and i have to know if it’s just a hardware thing or if this is a constant specific to this phrase

fuck consumerism and all that, but also shoutout to corporations that put way too much effort into their april fools jokes
the main one that comes to mind is google but mojang is better because they're not shitty on every other day of the year afaik

Vanished
In the Minecraft 20w14infinite version, there's a world called 'darkness,' which is, as the name suggests, completely dark except for the spawn area. The feeling I got from it was something like this..

The saddest part to me is that there are 0 mods with cool custom generation, it's always "cool big mountains mod #3453552287499" and never "fucked up industrial landscape of unfathomable sizes"
The closest we've ever gotten was the freaking 20w14infinite april fools update!!!

I take issue with this argument in this instance.
Players are usually mistaken when trying to identify what part of a game is making them frustrated, yes, but they aren't often mistaken that the game is frustrating. Here's how I see it:
Survival Minecraft has, over many years, become increasingly easy -- i.e there are fewer mechanical challenges to overcome. (How long has it been since "surviving the night" had any real weight to it?)
Without any mechanical challenges to overcome (read: without any gameplay) survival mode quickly becomes "constrained creative mode". Players want gameplay, and without anything to do all that's left is "gather a load of materials and build whatever you want".
The problem, then, lies in the "gather a load of materials" part -- the majority of the time you spend playing minecraft is spent either a) holding down LMB+W in a strip mine somewhere or B) running around aimlessly killing as many of a specific kind of mob you can.
That's not fun. It puts one in mind of a common criticism of Bungies' Destiny series: "when someone says a fight in Destiny is hard, they mean it has a big health bar". When someone describes a build or accomplishment in minecraft as "hard", they likewise mean time-consuming. Getting a complete beacon is "hard" because it takes hours of killing wither skeletons and hours of holding down LMB+W in a strip mine.
In order to actually have fun -- i.e. getting to the whole "building" part of "gather a load of materials and build whatever you want" in a shorter amount of time -- many opt to cut out the middle-man. Nobody wants to waste time getting a thousand of iron ingots with a pickaxe and a podcast if they can just a couple hours on an iron golem grinder.
The "solution" to this is not removing mob grinders -- it's adding some fucking gameplay. When was the last update that actually added anything new to do besides "some new blocks to place" and "some new endangered animals to... stare at"? 1.16? 1.9? 1.8? 1.5? Beta 1.8? It's been too goddamned long. I don't want a new ore that behaves exactly like every other ore, except it spawns at y=20 instead of y=12; or a new tameable mob that sits around my base exactly like every other tameable mob, just with a different model and texture. I. Want. Something. To. Do.
And Mojang has answered our prayers! ...in the april fools updates. What fun -- the only releases in the last 5+ years that add anything to do are the ones they deliberately throw away as jokes.
I'm not a hater* -- if there's something in 1.21 that appeals to you, I hope it'll continue to appeal to you. Me though? I'm sticking to Indev/Infdev and 20w14infinite.
*Not a hater towards players, anyway. Definitely a hater of Mojang's game design team.
i keep getting recommended videos about how minecraft isn't fun anymore and it's mojangs fault. i think its such a fascinating phenomenon because i think at least 70% of that comes down to anything getting a little stale when it's all you do for years and years. of course you're going to not feel like something is as fun as it used to be, you started playing minecraft when you were 11 and you are 23 now with a job. things change and you are experiencing it.
