₊˚.༄ || soft valentines m.list || hongjoong || seonghwa || yunho || yeosang || san || mingi || wooyoung || jongho || ₊˚.༄
i have this thought of jongho talking about the famous painting of van gogh. yes, the starry night. and the 12 sunflower, self-portrait, the cafe terrace at night— even the almond blossoms.
amsterdam. it was located at amsterdam; the museum of van gogh's paintings. you turn to jongho, all attention to the series playing on the television. you were at the kitchen counter, in front of your laptop with the flight tickets pending.
it was his dream to see the museum and your grandmother lives there and have a reason to visit without having suspicion.
"you're going to visit your grandma? at amsterdam?" jongho, on his pajamas, watch by the doorway as you pack up your stuff; including some of jongho's incase he forgot few clothes to pack. you hum, folding the scarf, "we're visiting grandmama, hun."
his eyes widen, pointing at himself, "me? I'm coming with you?" you nodded, chuckling. you close the suitcase and lean on one hip, "you don't want to?"
you pray that he agrees or else the whole plan will fail. jongho had a hesitant look in his eyes, "well it's across the world but ..." you gulp at his pause, shoulders tense. jongho look back at you with a small smile, "but it's not like i have never done that when i'm on tour with hyungs."
your shoulders suddenly relax, step one being check on the list to convince or tell jongho the 3 day trip.
little did you know, jongho had also check his step one.
the plane had landed on the runway, offering a glimpse of Amsterdam's quaint rooftops nestled beside sprawling canals.
a hit nostalgia erupt in your chest. You, the girl raised amidst the vibrant chaos of San Juan, and Jongho, the boy who dreamt of windmills and tulips, were finally landing in his dream city.
as you rolled your suitcase out of the airport, the crisp Dutch air sent shivers down your spine. Jongho notice your shivering body, offered you his jacket, his touch lingering a beat too long, sending a flutter in your stomach.
"thank you hun." He mouthed a 'no problem'. The taxi ride to your grandmother's house was a whirlwind of foreign sights and sounds, as the car turn, you notice the newly renovated playground. the playground that you grew up to. Jongho notice it, "your childhood place?"
you hum, a smile curling on your lips, "yeah my brother and I used to visit this place." jonho nodded. your brother was across the country too, working as a computer engineer.
it was still the same after years you left your hometown, and you couldn't feel one thing but nostalgia
upon reaching your destination, a quaint two-story house with ivy creeping up its facade, you felt a pang of apprehension. Your grandmother, a stern woman with a heart of gold, wasn't known for her fondness for strangers, let alone boyfriends.
"grandmama!" you called, dropping your items before rushing towards her. Jongho chuckles, picking up your purse and scarf before approaching you and your grandmother.
you braced yourself as you introduced him, her keen eyes scanning him from head to toe, "boyfriend?" Her lips pursed in disapproval, the etched lines on her face deepening. A familiar knot tightened in your stomach.
jongho stayed still, not know how to act when he realised that this is the first time he met one of your relatives. he glance at you for some kind of help but you reassured him with a smile, turning back to your grandmother.
"yes grandmama. he's good at singing too!" you saw a flicker of something else in her gaze, a hint of amusement perhaps, or maybe a grudging acceptance. you know you hit something there when you mention singing.
she was a singer once too. famous back in her time, you smile knowing at the end of this trip—she and jongho would be in good terms.
the following days were a whirlwind. you played as the tourist, leading jongho to places you recommended and places of your favorite. You strolled hand-in-hand through vibrant flower markets, marveled at the Anne Frank House, and took romantic canal cruises.
jongho has his vintage camera out, snapping pictures here and there—when he place his eye on the eye cup, his lens focus on you. crouch on the tulips stands, his heart fluttered when you spoke in Dutch, they way you converse with them so smoothly and elegantly.
his fingers hover over the button, snapping a couple pictures of you.
his step two is check.
your lips curled upward when the storekeeper pluck a tulip and gave it to you. the storekeeper pushed you towards him, "mr. Leo I cannot accept this."
mr. leo shake his head, a smile on his bearded face, "oh hush dear, it had been a while since you visited." jongho eyes you with affection, you were so beautiful that it overwhelmed him. you notice your boyfriend's gaze, your eyes sparkles.
"mr. leo, this is jongho. my boyfriend. " you cling on his arm, jongho bowing at mr. leo. He eyed jongho before sticking out his hand, jongho slightly confused but grasp his hand.
a firm shake before mr. leo lets go, "strong. I like it." his voice is rough and deep. you chuckle, patting jongho's back, "he is."
jongho was confused, "huh?"
mr. leo answered, amused "i know a person is strong when I see one. and that reassure me that you can take care of her."
jongho smiles, looking at you with adoration, puffing his chest, "of course, I will."
One evening, jongho was ask (by your grandmother) to helped in preparing dinner, confusing you but didn't question which in jongho's dismay.
she stirred the soup while jongho set up the table, "jongho." she called. jongho halted, heart flipping at the firm voice of your grandma, "yes grandma?"
"do you love my granddaughter?" his throat clogged. of course, more than ever. he nodded, clearing his throat, "yes i do. she's my everything." your grandmother turn around, eyeing him, "why?"
jongho was taken back. he was not expecting this question as he never questions his love for you. he'll go beyond any lengths.
"I love your granddaughter who she is—anything and everything. no question ask." with the answer given by him, your grandmother felt reassured. nodding, she turned back around, "okay."
he guess, step three is check?
later that dinner, everything went well. your favorite food was cooked, your grandmother seems to slowly warm up to jongho— still questioning what happened will resting in your old room.
after your grandmother observe him, a rare smile playing on her lips. you and her were on the back, on the veranda, "He seems serious about you." she finally said, her voice gruff but softer than usual. "he might pop up a question any time dearie, be prepared." she added, a twinkle in her eye.
relief washed over you. you realized your grandmother wasn't just tolerating him; she was beginning to see what you already knew - that beneath his easy smile lay a genuine heart worthy of her granddaughter's affection.
as you smile, sipping on your tea when you suddenly choke upon what you heard from your grandma a little late, "wait what question?!"
the last day came, the whole morning was about jongho and your grandmother having a little session at the small town in your area.
they were a great combo.
when afternoon, came you dress up again then going downstairs to see your boyfriend and grandma on a hushes conversation which in panic, your grandma smack him on the head for being 'too noisy' while he read the newspaper. upside down.
you walk in, confused "is there ... something going on?" your grandma cleared her throat, waving you off, "I told him I'll cut his balls off if he ever hurts you, even a paper cut."
you were flabbergasted, "grandmama!" you stare at your boyfriend, who was red in the face—hiding behind the newspaper.
you stare at your boyfriend, eyes squinting. you both were in the taxi, on your way to your destination the awkwardness dissipates the moment jongho looks at you; pouting, looks like it's angry but just look like a angry Maltese to him.
he shakes his head, just grabbing your hand squeezing it, "such curious cat hun." you huff, looking at the window, not really mad at him but —yeah, you were curious.
you turn back to him, "how come you both were on the top ten most tensed people the moment you step inside the house then the next day as if you were his grandson instead?"
jongho looks at you, leaning closer before pecking the tip of your nose, pulling away by a an inch, "you'll know soon."
when you both arrive at the place, stepping out the car had jongho confused at the silent yet illuminated building. you grasp his hand, leading him inside the building. when entering the building, jongho felt his eyes watered in excitement.
it's the museum he was talking about. van gogh's museum.
he turn to you, his eyes settled on your soft eyes. they held emotions he couldn't explain yet behind those were happiness.
"thank you hun." he spoke so gently, taking your hand in his. you smiled, shaking your head, "no need to thank me, it was my plan after all."
his step four ...
oh how could he tell you when you were back in the apartment that he accidentally saw at your laptop to see the tickets confirmed to your hometown when he was grabbing a drink?
how could he tell you that he panic to his hyungs about different things when you guys landed at Amsterdam? how could he tell you that he had different plan?
oh, how could he tell you that ever since the trip, he has been carrying a ring inside his pocket?
The museum hummed with a quiet reverence, the late-evening air thick with the scent of aged paper and possibility. Jongho kept himself from checking the box inside his coat without having you being suspicious to him but his heart is hammering a frantic rhythm against his ribs.
Tonight was the night. he or more like your grandmother had pushed him to go on with the plan. As he approached the designated room, a wave of anticipation washed over him. The room was bathed in an ethereal glow, engulfing the place like the actual painting.
He found you, standing amidst the celestial spectacle, a smile gracing on your lips that mirrored the crescent moon hanging low in the projected sky. Jongho's throat tightened; adjusting the scarf around his neck, his carefully rehearsed words dissolving into a puddle of nervous excitement.
"Wow," you take in the room, the swirling yellow hue as a resemble of the stars and the soft twinkling above the ceiling was mesmerizing. "It's beautiful."
"Not as beautiful as you," Jongho blurted out, surprising himself with his sudden boldness. A blush bloomed on his cheeks, but he held your gaze, his heart pounding a fierce tattoo against his chest.
you chuckled, "that's very sweet, Jongho but I think the stars have you beat on that one."
Taking a deep breath, Jongho stepped closer, his hand instinctively reaching for yours. your fingers automatically intertwined with his, sending a jolt of electricity through him. He led you towards the center of the room.
the projector of the starry night was the only light that shines. you were confused, concerned etching on your face but jongho ignores it. "there's something ... i've been meaning to tell you," Jongho began, his voice husky with emotion.
it was now or never. step four on the go.
that's where your heart soared up on the starry night, jongho knelt down on one knee, his heart hammering a frantic rhythm against his ribs. The ring box felt heavy in his hand, a tangible symbol of the question he was about to ask.
"hun..." he said, his voice thick with emotion, "you are the brightest star in my own galaxy. You make me laugh, you challenge me, you inspire me. You are my everything. You are i've ever wanted and more. So, with these stars as my witness," he continued, his voice trembling slightly, looking at you, "will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?"
He opened the box, revealing the ring nestled within, its diamond catching the projected starlight and sparkling like a fallen star. Tears welled up in your eyes, gaze shimmering with emotion.
"jongho…" you whispered, a hand flying to your mouth in surprise. your mind was all over the place but when your eyes landed on jongho, it was like everything started clicking.
his slight hesitation, his actions of taking you to your places, the way he always checks his pockets or bag whenever you visit a place—even checking his suitcase for something.
"he might pop up a question any time dearie, be prepared."
voice choked with happy tears, a smile bloomed on your face, "Yes," you spoke, voice trembling with joy, "a million times, yes!"
tears streamed down Jongho's face as he slipped the ring on your finger. a soft sob left your lips as you wrap your arms around his neck, "i love you."
jongho chuckles, even amidst the tears down his cheeks, he whispers, "i love you too hun."
both of your plans were achieved, the stars being the witness of your own happiness, sadness-- whatever was stored for the both of you. this story of you and jongho is a testament to the love that shone brighter than any constellation.
all plan check, she said yes.
THAT IS THE END OF MY SOFT VALENTINE MASTERLIST. STAY TUNED FOR THE FILTH VALENTINE MASTERLIST.

WHAT FEELS LIKE FOREVER // t. nott (Multi-Part) PT. 1
RATING: R / 1.1K WORDS (Pt. 1)
Tumblr media
Theodore Nott x Reader Insert (No gender-specific details)
+ SUMMARY - You started a band with a couple of your friends from high school a year ago. You've just hit your big break and have begun a small tour of America. Your relationship with your friends, one in particular, will come to change drastically while on this tour. (Part 2, accessible at bottom)
+ WARNINGS - Eventual smut (will note which chapter it is in), language, tension, angst
+ MUSIC (listened to while writing) -
Amsterdam - Gregory Alan Isakov
The velvety sand captured your attention. It cascaded so gently down the curves of your feet, traveling like rogue explorers desperate for discovery. You smiled a bit at the thought.
The sun had not quite come over the horizon, so it had not yet heated the white shores up. You reckoned you liked it better this way. A way in which you felt a subtle rose's tint kissing your flesh rather than the harsh, sharp red the dawn brought.
You liked the soft colors better. They caressed your eyes and hair like a mother might have. You supposed . . . you could not remember.
The early morning breeze that provoked the gray waves wrapped around you as well. You closed your eyes against the ocean and let the earth's zephyr run its fingers through your hair and the knit throw that hung loosely off your shoulders.
You didn't need to open your eyes to know that someone had come to stand next to you, and you didn't need to guess who it was either.
"Bit cold out here, yeah?" the Someone spoke. Their voice ran like the honey and oatmeal your old friends used to eat every morning. It was a voice that made your throat sting with forgotten nostalgia. Once the Someone had come up beside you, the breeze had stopped.
"It’s not too bad," your eyes finally opened. They abandoned the horizon and found the Someone with the honey and oatmeal voice. Theo.
"Why do you come out here every morning?" he asked.
"It’s…nice," you shrugged, feeling his eyes on you. He was the harsh, sharp red that the dawn brought. The red that made you shiver with a soft type of compliance.
Theo was all angles and tight ends and sharp edges. He fit into the crooks of your heart like an ardent dagger. And he was exactly that--a knife, a weapon to your sanity. He constantly threatened to push you over the edge and into a deep pit of rough, amorous hatred.
He was difficult and hard to work with, but there was no one you worked better with. The two of you were not the sun and the moon but more like the clouds and their rain. constantly pushing away and pulling back in. Desiring to feel the other's presence then letting go at as rapid a pace as they could.
Theo shivered lightly—the sound barely above a whisper. You glanced over at the older man.
He stared down at his bare feet, watching his toes flex against the cottony sand. The breeze had returned and had busied itself with his hair. It separated the strands and kissed his scalp with ghostly lips and cold fingers.
His cheeks were painted a loving pink that bled to the tip of his nose like watercolors. Your stomach tickled at the miniscule thing. It was the smallest of details that made your chest ache.
The eldest's eyes found your studious ones. Seasalt and the early morning sky sprouted there and pierced your heart. It dug deep into your veins and found a home there, filling you up until you felt full.
"Alright there, love?" He asked. it touched the edge of your ears like the worn-down tips of his sketchbook. No one was softer with you than he was. The irony was amusing.
"Fine," you whispered, your eyes flickering down just once to see his lips part slightly. You tore your eyes away from the man, your eyelids fluttering nervously.
"Do you have a cigarette?" You asked, avoiding any extra contact with him.
"Always," he replied. You could've sworn you saw him smirk but you didn't dare look.
Theo handed you the soft stick and allowed you to press it between your lips. His fingers brought the lighter up and lit it for you. You took it between your own fingers and took a long drag. You felt the smoke fill his lungs and then exit through his flared nostrils. Theo did the same, seeing the smoke from his friend mingle with his own.
Whether it was from the breeze making itself welcome once more or the dim flame from the tips of their cigarettes, he let out another shiver. He wore a pair of soft trousers and a black t-shirt. it clung to his arms and shoulders, falling delicately over his chest that rose and fell every once in a while.
You slipped the throw off your shoulders and wrapped it around the man's. His eyes opened slowly to see what you were doing.
"What are you doing?" He mused.
"You shivered," you replied simply. The older man needed it more than you did anyway. You had on a rather thick jumper as compared to his measly shirt.
"I’m not that cold," he mumbled, but you saw his fingers wrap around the folds in the material like a young child. You hid a smile and turned back to the ocean, taking another drag of your cigarette.
For whatever reason, you much preferred this to any other thing you could think of. Standing here, in peaceful silence, with no tension in your muscles. If ever there was any, your relief and cause was standing directly next to you, blowing a ring towards the clouds.
"What are we going to do?" He sighed, interrupting your thoughts.
"What do you mean?" You replied.
"This is taking off, is it not?"
"This?”
"This, mate…the band," he elaborated.
"Oh," you said, your eyebrows knitting together. You didn't really know how to respond to his concerns. Was this not a good thing? You were in America, for Christ’s sake. This was a lot bigger than your pathetic town.
"I know I should be grateful, but everything seems like it's sort of rushed," he refused to make eye contact, holding his cigarette between shaking fingers. "I want to be here, I have since forever. But I almost miss just practicing in my bedroom, y'know?"
Your pulse quickened in your throat, your fingers tingling with anticipation. The nights you had wasted in Theo’s bedroom, holding his fingers to the proper chords and avoiding eye contact, they were innumerable.
You remembered the heavy breaths and the roving eyes and the trembling lips as if it had all happened just last night. You weren’t sure if this tension still existed between the two of you as it once had, but his presence still made your lungs stutter with want.
"I know, Teddy. . . ," you sighed. You missed it too. Like an alcoholic missed a drink and a drug addict missed a buzz, you missed the love.

"I WAS SO EXCITED WHEN I HEARD WE SECURED THOSE EUROPEAN SUPPORT SLOTS WITH BLONDIE!"
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on BUZZCOCKS drummer John Maher (then age 18!) photographed with his arm around Debbie Harry of BLONDIE, whom BUZZCOCKS supported in Belgium on September 6, 1978. 📸: Chris Stein.
JOHN MAHER: "When I was 16 I had a Debbie Harry poster on my bedroom door. Two years later, we had our arms around each other!
Sharing those pics of Debbie and me hugging each other generated quite a reaction. I still find it hard to believe it actually happened. I was so excited when I heard we secured those European support slots with Blondie! I was eighteen. I’d never been outside the UK before.  The night before the first show, I was like a kid at Christmas. Despite the hours of travelling, I was absolutely wide awake when we arrived in Amsterdam. I remember going for a beer with our manager Richard Boon and tour manager Pete Monks. We sat outdoors, drinking foreign lager on a warm summer night. I was literally giddy with excitement. Richard and Pete were laughing at me. I asked them what was wrong. Richard told me I was experiencing "culture shock." I didn’t know what he meant. I was high on the whole experience of being somewhere other than Manchester, drinking lager outdoors in an exotic European city, knowing I would meet Debbie Harry and Clem Burke in less than 24 hours!"

— Tamino for Style Magazine Italia, June 2023 (x) (x)
Tamino returns to play in Italy: “The warmer the countries are, the warmer the audience"
The singer will perform at the Rocca Malatestiana in Cesena on July 4th and at the Spazio 211 in Turin on July 5th. "In Italy I always like to play," he says. But "in reality it scares me to meet too many people.” A true hero of introverts.
By Pier Andrea Canei June 15, 2023
The soundcheck is over, Alcatraz sold out, a thousand Milanese waiting to see the star of the evening: the Belgian-Egyptian singer Tamino. He relaxes behind the scenes, drinks green (tea) and wears black (Armani): like a 26-year-old prince of darkness. He has gentle manners, and a voice that vibrates on a broad spectrum. From the dark depths (the school is the one that goes from Leonard Cohen and Jacques Brel to Jeff Buckley and the alt-rock genre called “shoegaze”: emo tones, monochord guitars) to an angelic falsetto.
Soon, Tamino will go out there on stage and, without doing ballets or stepping on flowers, almost motionless except for when he holds his oud (a lute of the Arab tradition), he will attract attention. He is hieratic, with the charisma of a crusader of introverts, quiet people, and young romantic heroes; what allowed him to create a following that goes from [sic], (Colin Redwood [sic], former bassist of Radiohead, left Thom Yorke's group to follow him through studios and tours) up to the Arab world, from which it takes up sounds and instruments.
Tamino: Style's interview
Amir, the title of your first album and your middle name, means "prince" in Arabic. Were you raised as a little prince?
Well, I don't think so. Princes lead a very controlled life, lots of rules, discipline. I had a free childhood.
For the idea of calling you Tamino, like the young prince in Mozart's Magic Flute, we should thank your mother, Eva (de Pauw, anthropologist, hobby musician, passionate about cultures). What was it like growing up in Belgium?
Inspiring in many ways: lots of good art, music, art movements. From the Surrealism of René Magritte, to the music of Tom Barman's dEUS, a band that has opened many doors to the alternative scene. Then there are the negative sides in the social culture: in Belgium we tend not to value the potential of others... We are made like this, we like to see ourselves laying low, leveling ourselves up.
You realized this as soon as you finished compulsory school and left to study music in Holland.
It was an enlightening and difficult experience. From cool Antwerp designers to Amsterdam street style. Two hours by train and you land in another world. I wanted to shake off the provincial part of Belgium.
Habibi: I needed love
And your first hit song was born right in Amsterdam, in 2017: Habibi ... an Arabic and universal word of love.
You can say it to your loved one, to good friends, but also to a waiter: “Come here habibi, bring me a coffee”... Well, during the first days in Amsterdam I was depressed, very lonely, it was difficult to find human ties. I was looking for warmth, love: that piece came from there.
Of that vagueness that generates universality...
I think back to a title from the Talking Heads: Stop making sense. When you write lyrics for a song, you don't have to chase a precise meaning. Better ask yourself if your words convey the right feelings.
Typically Tamino: the yearning, the nostalgia. Songs like Indigo night: nocturnal, brooding, even melancholy. You recognise yourself in it?
I certainly tend to ruminate on things a lot. Too much...
An app to free yourself from the ego
And how do you free yourself from it?
Meditation helps. I also use a specific app, Waking Up: Beyond Meditation. Ten minutes a day is enough. It helps me to free myself from the ego, to feel myself a witness of thought, of consciousness. Simply necessary. More than diet or physical training.
Sahar, the title of the second and most recent album, means "at the crack of dawn."
For me it is already part of the past: the last words I sing are “before I step into darker days”...
That is: “Prima d'inoltrarmi in giorni più oscuri.”
I mean: before facing new torments, new struggles. What helps you grow is discomfort. That's the challenge. Never be afraid to step into the unknown.
Out of the comfort zone...
I like spending some time in New York. I stay out of my own comfort zone, it's not comfortable for me. And doing so inspires me.
Lone sailor
In the video for Sunflower, a duet with the singer Angèle, you have the air of a romantic hero. Do you want to act?
In that video I enjoyed interpreting, even without lines, this figure of the lonely sailor. This was an idea from the director. I've only done a little theater and at most a few sailing trips with friends.
Would you be a testimonial for a perfume?
Well, yes, under the right conditions... For example, a prestigious operation like the Bleu de Chanel campaign with Gaspard Ulliel, with that spot directed by Martin Scorsese.
A spot that stylises the clichés of a rock star life: glamorous places, flashes, meetings with crazy people...
In reality it scares me to meet too many people. I'm a very lonely guy. Even though I’m finding it easier and easier for me to make connections lately, I steer clear of glam dinners or events.
Then you spends the whole summer on the road
I have fun at festivals. My favourite is Into the Great Wide Open, on the island of Vlieland, Holland: 10,000 people, zero cars, music, love and kindness.
Your summer also includes two Italian stages.
I always like to play in Italy. The warmer the countries, the warmer the audience.
I live in Türkiye
Who knows in the Middle East, or in Africa.
We do the biggest lives in Turkey: crazy crowds. And Egypt is like coming home: you feel that for the people it is more than just a concert.
Your surname is famous in Egypt. Your grandfather Muharram Fouad was a musical star, your father started out as a performer.
It's like an Egyptian dynasty of music. A fun fact about me being a huge Lord of the Rings fan is that I've always felt like Aragorn, the legitimate heir to the Elven throne, who travels incognito. Nobody ever knows who he is. I felt like this growing up in Belgium. It was never talked about, nor was there much money, and that side of the family has only emerged now that I'm better known.
Who among the main names would you bring next to you at the festival of your dreams?
I don't even know if I would put myself among the top names... I'd like Anouar Brahem, Tunisian, master of the oud. And then something electronic, maybe the Aphex Twins. And I dream of working with Massive Attack.
Many festivals. But never a festive song?
I should write one first. But generally gloomy, tenebrous things come out to me.
Let's say you sing one happy song and save the world; which one do you choose?
I don't know if a happy song could save the world. Lou Reed's Walk on the Wild Side?
The height of happiness.A matter of feeling: a song can be sad in itself, but make you feel good. A glimmer of hope, an air of comfort. It can wrap you in emotions. Maybe you're sad, and that's okay: because you feel alive. A song full of life: well, for me it will always be a good song.

Diary of a 5SOS fan: 17-08-2023
Hi there everyone! Hope you're doing good out there. As previously opted I am going to start a 5SOS diary here from my personal perspective as a 5SOS fan. It's just me sharing my thoughts and experience as a fan. These may or may not be universal, they're always mine though.
So very quickly a reintroduction of who I am. I'm Caroline, 32, from The Netherlands. I became a 5SOS fan around early 2020. Just as the pandemic started. So you could say I'm late to the party, but I'm happy to be here though. I was lucky enough to see them live in Amsterdam and Rotterdam on the Take My Hand tour and I'm seeing them again in Amsterdam on October 1st this year.
I'm super excited to see them again, I had soundcheck last year for Amsterdam and I have soundcheck this year as well. Which I'm super stoked about. It was such a fun experience to see them in a slightly more relaxed setting as well. I know it's a lot of money and I'm glad I'm able to afford it. If you are in a position to buy a ticket for soundcheck, I can highly recommend it. If you love 5SOS you will not regret it.
With tour starting I played Self Titled in the car the other day and although it's not my favorite album it does have some bangers on there. But damn, some of these songs really held up terribly lol. I get why everyone loves Mrs All American, English Love Affair and so on. But let's get real for a second: "That minivan that you drive really gets me goin'," "princess getting naked" and let's not forget "she's a good a girl, daddy's favorite". Any artist in 2023 would get canceled for that lol. I get that it's part of the nostalgia and lyrics aside they are all bops. But maybe it's time to be a little less obsessed with these songs after this tour is done? We literally got Heartbreak Girl and Don't Stop in 2023. Gotta say, I will put my life on the line for Voodoo Doll or End up Here lol.
Speaking of End Up Here. That song has some of the best creative 5SOS lyrics ever. "You're telling me how you love that song. About living on a prayer. I'm pretty sure that we're halfway there." That's art people.
For those who may not be as well versed in classic rock, Livin On A Prayer is a song by the band Bon Jovi. Some of the lyrics are "whoa, we're half way there". That's the reference.
Anyway, this is sort of me getting my feet on the ground writing a first diary entry on here. I'll try to talk about other stuff next time. Have a good day!
P.S. if you're interested in following my daily ramblings about not only 5SOS, but also 1D and whatever else is on my brain. Go follow my main @watchyourattitude.

New York City's electro-pop trio Wet is back with their captivating new single, “Double.” Produced and penned by vocalist Kelly Zutrau alongside longtime collaborator Buddy Ross (known for his work with Frank Ocean, Vampire Weekend, and Miley Cyrus), “Double” marks Wet’s first release since their 2021 album, *Letter Blue*. Zutrau delves into the creation of “Double,” revealing, “In early 2022, I flew out to Portland to work with Buddy for a few weeks. Initially, we didn’t accomplish much—walking around, talking, playing cards, drinking beer, avoiding the studio. I felt uninspired. Then, on our first actual recording day, I found out I was pregnant. It was a shock, unplanned—I had spent the last decade preserving my youth, juggling multiple lives and paths in my mind. Suddenly, all those possibilities narrowed into something concrete and undeniable. Check out “Double” below: “I felt overwhelming grief for these potential lives, now reduced to one. This new life inside me brought me back to reality, and I was terrified. 'Double' began to take shape that week. Buddy made a little bed in the studio for me, though I was only a month pregnant, and it was sweet. Now, when I hear the song, I’m transported back to that pivotal moment, where I was yanked from the fantasy I had been living in. ‘Double’ captures this transition, the merging of the many lives I had imagined into one or two real ones.” Wet is set to perform at Rockaway Hotel in Queens, NY, on August 9th, ahead of a European tour in October. They will grace stages in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Helsinki, with support from Jam City on select dates. Since their 2014 debut EP via Neon Gold, Wet has carved a niche in the indie-pop scene. Their transition to Columbia Records brought us *Don’t You* (2016), praised by The New Yorker as “a harbinger of a pop future,” and *Still Run* (2018), which Billboard hailed as their “best project yet.” Their 2021 album, *Letter Blue*, released via AWAL, was followed by a notable feature on Fred again..’s *Actual Life 3* and collaborations with Ralphie Choo on “METAVERSE” and Rod Wave on *Nostalgia*. Upcoming Live Dates *= w/ support from Jam City 8/9 - Queens, NY @ The Rockaway Hotel 10/22 - London, UK @ The Garage* 10/25 - Paris, FR @ Trabendo* 10/26 - Amsterdam, NL @ London Calling 10/28 - Berlin, DE @ Hole 44 10/29 - Copenhagen, DK @ VEGA 10/30 - Stockholm, SE @ Slaktkyrkan 10/31 - Helsinki, FI @ Korjaamo Read the full article

Rialto, CA-based soul outfit Brainstory will be releasing their Leon Michels-produced sophomore album Sounds Good on Friday through renowned purveyors of soul, Big Crown Records. The album will feature: “Gift of Life,” a lush, old-school, Quiet Storm-like, show-topping ballad built around a shimmering and vibey arrangement featuring fluttering, ethereal flute paired with Kevin Martin’s emotive, falsetto croon and some incredibly catch hooks. While the song see the band pulling from classic soul, psych soul and dub in a way that sounds like it could been released sometime between 1968-1974, “Gift of Life,” manages to feel remarkably modern.  “Listen,” a classic, two-step inducing groove-driven song with shimmering analog synths, an overdrive-fueled guitar solo paired with some dreamy falsetto melodies and harmonies that sounds — to me, at least — as though it could have been been a Mandrill or Isley Brothers B side. The song sees the band’s Kevin Martin encouraging the listener to spend some time enjoying the present moment, because life’s all too short and remarkably fleeting “Peach Optimo,” a slow-burning and summery bit of psych soul anchored around a strutting and wobbling bass line, glistening keys, some funky drum rhythm patterns and an expressive guitar solo paired with some retro-futuristic synths. Seemingly channelling JOVM mainstays Mildlife and L’Eclair, sees the trio diving into the banality and simple pleasures of teenaged suburban life — full of the nostalgia of cul-de-sac hangs and bullshit sessions with the homies. Sounds Good‘s fifth and latest single “XFaded” is a strutting, hook-driven and funky psych soul jam anchored around an arrangement featuring skittering boom bap, a sinuous bass line and squiggling bursts of guitar. According to the trio, the song’s sound was partially inspired by what theft thought a modern day George Clinton/Parliament funk jam would sound like — and by small town life, where getting fucked up is an unofficial/official pastime because there isn’t much else to really do. The slick Leon Michels production paired with the band’s razor sharp yet seemingly effortless performance ironically contrasts the notion of getting sloppy and fucked up but reveals the easy-going chemistry between the trio and producer. The trio are about to embark on a run of headlining Stateside dates and a couple of stops on the global festival circuit, before joining Lady Wray in May for a run of UK and European Union dates.
