ICYMI: Noshows, Husky Loops, and Blaudzun
ICYMI: Noshows, Husky Loops, and Blaudzun We discovered new releases from alt electro rock artist Noshows, Italian London-based genre-boundary pushers Husky Loops, and Dutch pop artist Blaudzun and share our thoughts on them with you!
Noshows – Wants and Needs A vibrant new alternative electro rock track was released by Noshows. His latest is single ‘Wants and Needs’, a harmonious stadium rock track with strong vocals and a thumping soundscape that builds on subtly colourful musical elements. The intro slowly fades into an undeniably catchy chorus that instantly made me move along to its infectious rhythm. The New York-based…

Review: Noshows newest single ‘Tired Eyes’ clasps onto an addictive indie-rock sound reminiscent of being lost within a daydream
Tumblr media
The smashing upcoming indie outfit Noshows reign out of NYC, fronted by producer & songwriter Max Satow. As they blend together the realms of hip- hop, pop, funk, jazz, and alt-rock, Noshows are consistently providing a refreshing new sound different to anything you’d have heard before. As a solo act before February 2022, Noshows has since progressed with their full-band performances that have reached new levels of energy as well as amassing a quickly growing fan base. Bearing their newest single ‘Tired Eyes’, Noshows only continue to show promise that they’ll be a group you can’t forget - and truly, why would you want to?
Shimmering in with synthetic beats that set the tone for the whimsical indie journey to come, ‘Tired Eyes’ immediately clasps onto a sound reminiscent of being lost within a daydream, both easy-going and addictive all at once. A groovy electric guitar riff and deep bassline finds itself at the forefront of everything, cascading through the soundscape like the waves of an ocean, paired by beats that push the momentum forward into something you can’t help but nod your head along to consistently. With a pre-chorus that picks up to quickly spoken lines and speeding riffs, there’s a constant ebb and flow in ‘Tired Eyes’ between a calm and a storm, pulling you into its whirlwind of psychedelic grooves like you’ve never heard before. The chorus settles to more of a softened state whilst still championing indie-rock you want to dance along to, offering a respite away from the woes of the world in the uplifting presence of Noshows. Their vocalist shines through, offering a clean performance that seeps with a slight vocal effect for added flair, all in all creating a transcendent experience within ‘Tired Eyes’ that you’ll want to lose yourself within on repeat.
Alike all of Noshows lyricism, Satow’s songwriting approach in ‘Tired Eyes’ leans into the inner chaos and psyche of the mind, taking hold of more thought-provoking storytelling and truly whisking you away on a journey you never know where will take you. With spirituality at its core, there’s a lot to infer within ‘Tired Eyes’, constantly unravelling new themes and avenues upon every listen. From the opening hook, ‘find a place to rest your tired eyes, find a time to ease your stressed out mind’ , ‘Tired Eyes’ immediately places a sense of safety inside of its nearing three minute duration, urging a connection between listeners and an unspoken blanket of comfort that surrounds you within its sound. Littered with insightful lines that err on introspection like ‘those dreams you waste then dream away’, it’s hard not to spend ‘Tired Eyes’ entering new worlds of belief. Asking yourself further about the realities of a dream and the experiences that come and go within only a night, there’s truly an entire sphere of thinking bundled into ‘Tired Eyes’ that can’t help but make you feel a little bit existential. Asking questions like ‘why we go up just to come down? your sweet escape just fades away’, ‘Tired Eyes’ seems to find a home inside the company of another and still leaves you digging into the meaning and pulling it apart for more.
Check out ‘Tired Eyes’ for yourself here to pick away at its multi-layered lyrical journey and its addictive soundscape constantly bursting from the seams of any one genre.

Noshows Newest Single 'Tired Eyes' Is One Of The Best Songs By A Pop Band The Noshows are a band like no other, based out of New York City and led by the talented producer and composer Max Satow. Their music is a delightful blend of hip-hop, pop, funk, jazz, and alternative rock, with each song smoothly transitioning between genres. What sets them apart is their unique approach to songwriting and their ability to capture the internal turmoil and psychology of the human mind. Initially, Noshows was a one-man show until February 2022, when the band expanded to include a full lineup. Since then, their performances have taken on a whole new life, gaining them a large following of loyal fans and the attention of some of New York City's most prestigious venues, such as Bowery Electric, Arlene's Grocery, and Baby's All Right. Additionally, they were featured in the long-awaited return of the Pleasantville Music Festival. [embed]https://soundcloud.com/noshows[/embed] At a Noshows concert, anything is possible. They may start with swelling psychedelic rhythms, and within moments, switch to urgent, hard-hitting indie rock. Their performances are truly unpredictable and unforgettable experiences. The band's name reflects the message of their songs, which deals with the unseen, internal turmoil and psychology of the human mind. Their music aims to unite people through a shared understanding of the world and a better understanding of how complicated the human mind is. Satow's approach to songwriting is inspired by the idea that "knowing ourselves is the first step towards understanding others" and draws on personal experiences that are presented in a universal way. What would you say is your greatest strength as an artist? Definitely is a multi-instrumentalist and has extensive knowledge of production. What is your creative process when making music? Usually, I’ll start by just writing out my thoughts and then try to find cool phrases or an overall vibe of what I’m feeling. After that, I try to create an instrumental melody that reflects that energy. I tend to start my instrumentals with drums a lot of the time because they create a lot of the momentum of the track. From that point onwards the creative process differs heavily from track to track. I like to try and approach each track differently to get different results. [caption id="attachment_47710" align="alignnone" width="1333"] Noshows Newest Single 'Tired Eyes' Is One Of The Best Songs By A Pop Band[/caption] How long have you been making music and what attracted you to it? I’ve been making music for about 10 years now! What really got me into it was boredom and dissatisfaction with playing covers with my band. I instantly fell in love with it as soon as I tried it and couldn’t stop writing! What is the biggest challenge you have overcome as a band/artist so far? Dealing with my anxiety on stage was easily one of my biggest challenges as an artist. I would freeze up a lot especially when the song ended and the time came for me to talk to the crowd. What really helped me overcome that was a mixture of playing tons and tons of shows as well as watching other frontmen perform and analyzing how they move on stage, how they talk etc. Eventually, it all became second nature. What streaming sites do you think offer the most value to a band? Probably Bandcamp. Spotify doesn’t necessarily provide the best returns for streams. How do you think social media or the internet has affected the music scene in your country? It’s definitely given a lot more power to the artist. You can easily brand yourself and build an audience without the help of a label. But with power comes great responsibility it’s not easy to take on all of that yourself. [embed]https://youtu.be/pRU2No-_CjQ[/embed] What are your friends and parents thoughts on your career? They seem to believe in me, my songs and my band. They’ve all been nothing but supportive. What does your current song mean to you?
To me, it’s a song about indulging in the party life, but also a reminder that you can’t let it become your life. What is one message you would give to your fans? I love all of y’all! This has been a long journey which is nowhere near over, and I couldn’t have gotten to where I’m at now without your support. In conclusion, The Noshows are a talented and innovative band that has taken the New York music scene by storm. Their unique blend of genres, exceptional songwriting, and unpredictable performances make them one of the most exciting acts to watch. We can't wait to see what they have in store for us in the future. [embed]https://open.spotify.com/album/3ebohRTArZXkBWIZmqpfi5?si=UNq3QJGxSJ6usEfIW00Vpg[/embed]

Beth O'Leary Is the Best Rom-Com Author
There are many things I love about The Flat Share and Beth O’Leary’s narrative style. Many things that I cannot help but laugh at (and cry at) and overall simply appreciate when it comes to good writing. Let me show you some of my favourite details. Let’s start with one very important wonderful detail – the representation of bigger bodies in romance. Now I know Tiffy isn’t described as a ‘s…
