Living with Losing You - 8/6/2022

It’s been 3 weeks. 

It’s honestly still hard to believe. Part of me still doesn’t want to believe it, even though I do know it’s real. 

Since I am finally tapering off from the terrible COVID that I had, I was able to go out and do more stuff today. I am pretty sure I have had Public Square everyday for the last 2 weeks. I also have had burger lounge 5 times in the last 7 days #noshameinthegame. The fact that I am eating as much as I have been has been a victory in itself. I want to try and reintroduce some foods back into my diet, but my stomach is still pretty messed up from all of the stress, etc. This situation has really exasperated all of the the issues I was already having. 

I went to Logan’s soccer game, they won! It was nice because (no offense) they usually tie or lose. A win for Logan feels like a win for me! I also went to Brianna’s campaign event today. It was such a great showing! There had to have been 30+ people. I ended up having to bring the Roland amp down there for them to use (with my battery pack) because her speaker stopped working. I was glad that I was able to easily roll that thing down for them to use. Actually, easy is not the word I would use if I am referencing carrying that thing myself down a long staircase. Otherwise though, usually manageable. The evening consisted of SCHS XC! The time trial today was actually initially scheduled for the morning, but there was a conflict so we decided to move it to the evening. Honestly this worked out better as it really cooled off by the time we had them race. It went very well, I will spare most of the logistics and details. What I will say is that I was very excited about the bibs, winning medals, beverages, and snacks that I had brought. The boys were excited too. They ended up taking a lot of the stuff I had brought, which is good. 

In the middle of the day in between all of this, I did decide to meet up with my buddy Will up the street at Moze Guitars. I figured it would be nice to see him and catch up a but since he was in the area (literally this store is walking distance and I can see it from my apartment). Anyway, I got there and he showed me the super nice Gibson that he was making payments on and “visiting” each time he stopped by to pay it down. In front of me was a beautiful sea foam electric guitar. I have honestly been wanting my own special electric, but I had never bought one. I still have yours that I play, but I wanted to get something that was unique. Kind of like my life........ #thestruggle

So, I was looking around at all of the guitars in the shop, and suddenly saw this beautiful green, pink, and silver paisley designed guitar. As soon as it caught my eye I knew I wanted to take it home with me. This was the true definition of “treat yo self”. I ended up putting money down on it to reserve it as mine. I know you would have loved this moment. You would have been so excited for me. 

I think about that a lot actually. I think about all the things I do on a daily basis that you would always be there for. You’d root for me to just get through the day sometimes. Sometimes you wouldn’t say much, but you’d just listen, and that said / meant everything to me. I love you so much for that. I miss you so much. 

I am not sure if I had mentioned this, but I started to learn “Mad World” on the piano, and I think it sounds pretty good so far if I do say so myself. I have been playing the intro part at least once a day, and want to learn the entire song. It was your favorite song to play. It brings me to tears to play it, but I think it’s cathartic. I also listened to our recording of us singing that song last night. July 19th, 2020 we sat on your porch in La Jolla and sang it together. Feels like yesterday, but forever ago. We always talked about singing together more, and I am so sad that we never well. 

Time is passing, but the pain is still very much here. I am sure it will be forever.  Loving you, always.

I’ve got darkness ripping into fleshing, fleshing me out and screaming not enough. Sometimes I see hummingbirds and for a moment I am allowed to breathe freedom. Walking running pacing, it never matters, how does one feel their feet? Each cloud pressed out of these dry trembling lips blends into the sky, but never matching its creativity. You would just say my eyes are red from the chase. What you don’t know is how many times today I’ve had to put the demons to bed just in order to not have the breakdown we all know would most definitely turn my eyes red. Today I am outside and it sort of feels ok. Although that is just the first layer of feelings I allow yall to see. But still I am here, trying. This dumb hard work meaningless push towards an ever moving goal. But I am in it still for now. If you cant feel the sun against your neck as you tease the wind to free you and no amount of anything inside of you can manage things, just know I’m here. I here to, flailing in life’s horrifying vortex of demands and feedback. You are most definitely not alone. And your experience is seen and is valid. Who you are and what you feel is real and important. But don’t try this adventure alone. Shame cannot claim and weary soul asking for rest. I am here to try to be authentic for those who need it.
