I finished Derry Girls yesterday. I know the whole show's about a serious topic and all, but it's done in such a funny way that you don't expect it to go so dark at times. Which is why this show is genius. You see everything through the eyes of a bunch of naive teenagers who honestly have other things to worry about than the Troubles. They think about boys (and girls), and school and the fact that their mums are gonna kill them if they don't pass their final exams, and you get invested and forget what's happening out there. And every time an episode ends with a reminder it's brutal and random and it's so real. Because that's how it is in real life: you never expect to get a call telling you your granddad is dead. Or for your TV program to be interrupted to tell you terrorists crashed a plane into a bunch of towers and killed over 3000 people. Things like that always come unexpected and Derry Girls understood that. Beautiful show.

We got actual measurable snow here in Coastal Southeast North Carolina, which hasn't happened in over 10 years. Our parking lot got plowed, but they piled it in from the accessibility ramp for the sidewalk, so I was out there shoveling to clear it.

I was told I shovel like I'm from the North, and like I've done it before. I just laughed it off and said no, I was born and raised SENC. 😐 I didn't have the heart to say it's similar muscle strength and stamina to beating my friends with sticks and shooting them with arrows. I guess there's another benefit to heavy fighting in the SCA.

Raph, and his baby girl, yep he gets one too. She's a clingy soft sweet heart, which felt right for such a big tough guy. She doesn't have a name just yet, so any suggestions for what Raphael would name a tiny little girl who would not let go of him since they first met. Im open for 'em :) I also think Raph got the crybaby of the group, this "baby doll" has a big heart when she gets older. She cries when he gets hurt and exhausts herself worrying, hence this nap shown above.

Raph will kill you if you wake up this baby turtle, he has been awake trying to get her settled for two hours and his head hurts so dont you even breathe too loudly...

Sansa as a northern character being so aesthetically pleasing never gets old for me.

In a world of white and gray and black and of course, icy blue, the color auburn shows itself off very well. The way she looks like a weirwood with her porcelain skin and red hair is so cool. And her blue eyes can be a reminder of Others' eyes (and also a nod to Starks having Other ancestry which I root for). She even tolerates cold better than many other characters, spends half a day in snow and doesn't bat an eye.

Generally, storytelling with color and design is so powerful in her arc, with George reflecting her mood and goals through the things she wears, and the same attention has been put through her own colors.

no asoiaf character has ever been more doomed than Lady the direwolf. with most characters you can always rationalize their fate with "oh if they had done this instead of that then things might have been different they would still be alive the war wouldn't have happened etc etc". but with Lady there is just no plausible scenario in which she doesn't end up dead by the end of agot :(
