Translating NORN9: Hiyokos

Welcome back to “Translating NORN9”, where I translate NORN9 content!

Today I’m going to translate the Hiyoko Page. As a bit of trivia, all of the Hiyokos share thier VAs with the main characters

The Hiyokos living in Norn

These hiyokos take care of the personal belongings of those who board the Norn. However, no one knows their identities.

Pu Hiyoko

Voiced by: Takuya Sato (Masamune’s VA)

Pu Hiyoko has no particular role and always sits outside relaxing. He is dazed as if he doesn't care if he is thrown.

Maid Hiyoko

Voiced by: Ayumi Fujimura (Koharu's VA)

A solid Hiyoko who is good at cleaning rooms. When the bath is ready, she may come directly to notify the passenger.

Captain Hiyoko

Voiced by: Tomokazu Sugita (Ron's VA)

A Hiyoko piloting a Norn. With a scar on his forehead, wearing goggles and holding a cigar, he has a wild vibe.

Hiyocook

Voiced by: Ayahi Takagaki (Mikoto's VA)

This Hiyoko is in charge of managing ingredients and supporting passengers when they cook. They get angry when the passengers play instead of cook.

Librarian Hiyoko

Voiced by: Koji Yusa (Itsuki's VA)

A Hiyoko who manages Norn's library. Due to his timid personality, he doesn't pay attention to people who are making noise in the hall.

Reporter Hiyoko

Voiced by: Mitsuki Saiga (Sakuya's VA)

A Hiyoko who works as a reporter for the "HYC Channel". He is too enthusiastic and sometimes annoys others...

Cameraman Hiyoko

Voiced by: Daisuke Ono (Natsuhiko's VA)

He works as a dedicated cameraman for the "HYC Channel" and always supports the Reporter Hiyoko from behind.

Doctor Hiyoko

Voiced by: Asami Seto (Nanami's VA)

A Hiyoko that examines a passenger when he or she is sick. As an experienced doctor, they immediately respond to any disease.

Programmer Hiyoko

Voiced by: Hiroyuki Yoshino (Heishi's VA)

A Hiyoko who manages programs related to Norn. When it speaks, it chirps in a low, machine-like voice.

Introverted Hiyoko

Voiced by: Hiro Shimono (Senri’s VA)

A Hiyoko with a birthmark under his eye that appears in a dream. His feeble squeak and troubled expression are very similar to Senri's.

Hiyoko?

Voiced by: Noriaki Sugiyama (Akito's VA)

A Hiyoko that can catch fish. Its appearance is so confusing that Akito worries about it, but it is a chick, and if he is mistaken, he will be hurt and go insane.

White Hiyoko

Voiced by: Yuki Kaji (Kakeru's VA)

A white Hiyoko made by Natsuhiko and powered by AI. Using the green board it has, it acts as Mikoto's caretaker while having a conversation.

I was searching a specific anime song that I can't remember anything about except the feeling+part of the melody, but I got distraught and ended up watching Dream Festival's first chapter again.

Anyways, do you know what did I realize? The reason my mental image of Og!Cale always has his hair tied-up in a high short pony tail + bangs— THAT'S KANADE'S HAIR STYLE.

My silly brain must had thought 'oh, red haired boy with a big heart and bright smile? I know which one is' and decided they must have the same hairstyle.

Not a bad choice, tho. I like Kanade's pony tail.

Btw, the song I was looking for ended up being the opening of Norn9: norn+nonet.

Norn9: Norn+Nonet review - spoilers

Gonna be honest, loved this show more than I thought I would. I liked the aspect of the show, pretty unique but had its flaws. When the members on Norn were trying to figure out who the perpetrator was, was like a game of Mafia LOL. My main suspects were Masamune (captain) and Ron and I was so torn but it ended up being who I suspected. I don't feel bad for Kakeru's dad for living thousands of years to hope for his love to be reincarnated. I didn't agree with those who wanted the Reset because why would you live if you were just going to reset the world when things go bad. I liked that the team we thought were bad, Ron and Natsuhiko, were actually against the Reset.

As for the romance aspect of the anime, I loved it LOL. Ya'll know romance is my guilty pleasure when it comes to shows. Kakeru and Koharu were a yes right off the bat and they kissed not only once but three times. Akito and Nanami were cute like enemies to lovers sort of. I was tired of Akito being rude to her but I'm glad they are together because they're hella cute. Mikoto had the most "interesting" development because Sakuya loves(?) her but she's with Natsuhiko. I feel bad for Sakuya because he just wants to protect her but I lowkey like Mikoto and Natsuhiko better by a little more. If they had more screen time together (Natsuhiko) I would've loved them even more.

Apparently this is a game so there won't be more content (I think), I am glad that the ending was happy and Kakeru is alive with Koharu. Pretty much everyone (besides probably Sakuya) had a happy ending or I guess a satisfying ending.

Welcome to something I like to call “Translating Norn9”, where I translate Norn9 based media. I’m going to start with the fanbook and I’ll be starting with my favorite male character in the game, Akito Shukuri! Keep in mind that these translations are my interpretation of what’s being said.

A young man who is angry about everything and always has a sullen face. Although he initially appears to be foul tempered and difficult to get along with, he does mean well, and there is a compassionate side of him that cannot refuse anything asked. He excels at cooking, and members praise the rice he makes, as it’s comparable to a mother’s cooking. Akito hates showing this weakness to people, but he cannot tolerate being in the presence of birds and is even terrified of Hiyokos on the Norn. Due to his phobia, Kakeru takes advantage of this for his own amusement and frequently taunts him using the Hiyokos.

“Since Akito is Senri’s older brother, their facial parts such as hair color and eye shape are different, but much like a father and mother, if you look closely, you can consciously that I designed them so that they are similar. For example, their bangs are divided in the same way, and the back is similar. At first, I thought that the long hair part was not long hair, but like an extension, and I wanted to change the color and feathers, but "Can I feather it?" I wondered, and with the remnants of that, it became what it is now. In the end, what exactly this part of his hair is remains a mystery to me.”
