Marijuana News was a periodical for the northeast Ohio branch of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), which advocates for the removal of legal penalties for using marijuana.

The Browne Popular Culture Library (BPCL), founded in 1969, is the most comprehensive archive of its kind in the United States.  Our focus and mission is to acquire and preserve research materials on American Popular Culture (post 1876) for curricular and research use. This man was my Professor in 1985. That Spring term, at Macomb Community College, saw two future ('86) valedictorians in one single classroom. That was an AWESOME class. I should know, I was there, and later - represented, South Campus.

This man, was my best friend. He had many best friends. He was like a fungi. I mean fun guy. But he grew into you, and expanded your horizons. (Before he died, I managed to share with him my business construct.)

Word has it, because of the man's propensity to say, 'Hello, My name is Marvin Marvin',... Marvelous, Marvin-Marvin Surowitz, is the guy, most behind, the MJ law passage in Michigan! Actually - his phone - had a bit to do with the passage. Marvin was a staunch supporter for marijuana liberation. Marvin had a habit of collecting phone numbers, it got so, that in order to be put into his phonebook, he had to bump someone. - That method lasted for YEARS, before he got a phone with larger storage. His phone was constantly ringing. The people on his phone list were LEGION.

When we wandered out in town, folk would without fail, come up to him, to thank him and tell him they were his student. Marvin was 79 years young. He NEVER grew up. He died the day before my mother passed. That was a real rough time.

I think his stone is a real winner, and to be interred, on 4/20! Marvin was a real SPECIAL guy. I feel so blessed to have called him my fiend, I mean my friend. Hemp Hemp Hurray! You are stone cold cool - Marvin!

You are loved and missed by bazillions. (Ok, I am exaggerating - but he's missed - a LOT!)
