So many questions regarding the bingo man comment in the last sentence.... so many questions

Non Shrike AU content yet again but idea where Danny takes on being a superhero more or less out of Amity Park once heâs slightly older. Danny continues to go by Phantom. Heâs a sudden unknown with a rogue gallery who seems to follow him no matter how quickly he travels from city to city. The destruction that follows him is hard to notice and as a result the Justice League attempts to intervene but itâs leaving them questioning who exactly this new hero (or foe) is. He is able to go toe to toe with some of the veteran League members until he usually realizes he canât exactly win against them (experience vs. raw power doesnât always work in his favor) and runs away. The League is trying to get a grasp on his powers and abilities and in the end, since he doesnât seem fond of actually interacting with the League, Danny is deemed a threat. Itâs especially concerning when some members spy him lingering on the edges of Earthâs atmosphere star gazing.
Danny views the situation differently, heâs trying to contain ghosts appearing from an influx of natural ghost portals throughout the country while juggling being a freshman in university. His goal is get them under controlled as quick as possible, no time for banter, no time to interact with the local heros. He has a job to do. However when the Justice League starts coming after him he believes they realize heâs a ghost/part ghost and trying to detain him under the ecto acts. Heâs terrified and views them as a threat so of course heâs going to fight them if they try to get to close.
Danny is eventually captured by Superman after a rogue battle in Metropolis that was extremely difficult so having Superman come in directly after was a losing battle from the start. Heâs taken to the Watch Tower and given cuffs and a collar that blocks/dampens meta abilities and it manages to actually work on Danny. He refuses to cooperate with any members who try to question him since itâs pointless to fight against them now that heâs captured. Danny views himself steps away from being fully dead as he believes the Justice League will hand him over to the Men in White once theyâre finished with him.
Non colored version under readmore:

In an effort to be a good dad, Snatcher learns to make a really durable doll for Hat Kid to use since she was upset about not having a body. (I love all your writing by the way! ^-^)
Thank you for the request! It ended up being a bit angstier than Iâd thought itâd be. Also, itâs in the same timeline as the Guilt and Therapy drabbles. Though, this one, like Guilt, ended up not really being a drabble. I got a bit carried away.
Haunted
Despite being both legally a father for just over a full year now and a ghost for three hundred something years, Snatcher had no idea how to console Hat Kid. Heâd never seen her cry anywhere even close to this much before. But he couldnât blame her for doing so; dying was a very traumatic upsetting experience.
The people from her home planet had finally found her. Snatcher had killed all of them, not even bothering to snatch their souls he was so angry. But heâd arrived just a tad too late. Heâd still been in the middle of his rampage when her ghost had formed meaning he hadnât even been there to protect her from the sight of her own body lying in a pool of blood on the ground.
So now all he could do was hold her while she cried into his mane. It didnât feel like enough though. But⌠what else could he possibly do?
Eventually he sobs started to peter out and then stop completely. Â Her grip on his mane even loosened some.
âIâm sorry,â he said in a whisper. âI was too slow.â If heâd shown up on the scene even just a minute or two faster, he couldâve saved her. âI shouldâve come sooner. IâŚâ
âItâs not your fault,â she interrupted, letting go of him to move back and look up at him. âDonât blame yourself, okay?â How was he supposed to do that? âBut⌠you killed them, right? You made them pay for⌠for⌠doing that to me, right?â
âOf course, what do you think I am, kiddo? I donât let people get away with hurting whatâs mine, ever.â Heâd set another part of the forest on fire while he was at it too but who cared? âAnd if any of them ever show up again, Iâll kill them too, okay?â He forced an evil smile for her.
She nodded as she wiped away the tears leaking from her now ghostly glowing eyes. âT-thank you. But uh⌠I⌠donât want to be dead. I know youâre dead and so are all the Subconites so I shouldnât complain butâŚâ
âNo, itâs fine. Weâve been dead a long time but we all remember what itâs like. Itâs⌠rough.â And she was a child, making it so much worse. But a lot of the Subconites had been children when theyâd died too â children seemed have a higher chance to turn into ghosts upon death, whether that was because it was extra tragic, tragic deaths being the most common deaths that led to ghosthood, or something to do with their souls was unknown, nor did it really matter. âYouâll get used to it eventually though⌠probably sooner than you think.â
Hat Kid made a soft whining sound in response, hanging her head.
âIs⌠is there anything I can do help you feel better?â Emotional things really werenât something Snatcher knew much about even after going to therapy for half a year now.
âI⌠donât know.â
âUh⌠I could make you a body to possess. I did it for all the Subconites, it helped them some.â
Hat Kid perked up a bit. âReally?â
âUh⌠yeah but⌠it wonât make you any more alive.â He needed to clarify that in case she got her hopes up. âIt just makes you feel a bit better.â Heâd tried it once himself, way back at the start, but he had too much power for a doll to hold, even a well-crafted one; it had completely disintegrated within an hour of him possessing it. Heâd since just grown to prefer being a free-floating spirit. It wasnât for everyone though, especially with how hard the initial transition to it was. So⌠âDoes that sound good?â
âUh⌠yeah, yes please. I want a body.â Hat Kid nodded, sniffling a little.
âAll right. Give me a few days and Iâll make you one.â It wouldnât be the same but her death already meant things would never be the same. They just had to adjust to this thing however best they could. She wasnât gone and thatâs what mattered most.
-
At first he started knitting another doll much like the Subconites had except he planed to make it look a bit more like Hat Kid â since he only had to make one instead of hundreds, he could afford to spend more time on it and personalize it. But while he hadnât had a choice in what to make the Subconites bodies out of since sewing and knitting had been his only relevant skills and he didnât exactly have time to learn a whole new skill he could perhaps do so with Hat Kidâs doll.
The Subconites were made out of cloth and stuffing. Serviceable materials especially when laced with a little bit of magic but not very durable. They had to be careful about not getting too wet or too close to fire that wasnât magical in nature. It meant they were the least dangerous things in the forest because they were literally plushies. He had the time to at least try to give Hat Kid something a bit more durable so⌠he should do it. What though?
It would still have to be a doll of some sort. Human shaped things were both easier and more comfortable to possess. Maybe he could try to carve a sturdy chunk of wood into the right shape, make it a bit like a puppet expect without the strings so it could move. Or maybe he could try to make her a body made of metal? Basically make her a Hat Kid shaped suit of armor to possess. Thatâd be nigh on indestructible. It was worth a try at least. If it failed, he could go back to the puppet idea. If that failed, a plush doll would have to do because itâd certainly be better than nothing.
He spent all his free time with either Hat Kid, helping her through this difficult time as best his limited ability to handle emotional things would allow him to, or working on the suit of armor. As with most things, he had books on the subject to help him through the process â having a book on making plushies wouldâve been so nice back when he had to make all those dolls for the Subconites but that had been before heâd started collecting books again. He had more control of his magic now too which also helped a lot.
The materials and tools he used to make it were stolen from Hat Kidâs ship or the wreckage of the ship the peck necks whoâd hunted her down had used to come here. Working on it was actually a really good way to distract himself from how he couldâve and shouldâve prevented her death. It also made him feel better about failing to protect because if this plan worked, almost nothing could ever hurt her ever again. ⌠Ugh, the whole therapy nonsense was making him in tune with his emotions and motivations, gross.
Eventually the question had to come up though. âYou⌠said you were making me a body,â Hat Kid asked one evening when he visited. âHowâs that going?â
âPretty good.â He couldnât leave at that though, could he? Heâd told itâd take a few days and heâd been working on it for about a week now. âIâm not making it quite like that Subconitesâ bodies so itâs taking a little while. Sorry about that kiddo.â
Her face lit up with interest, good anything to help her feel less miserable. âReally? How is it different?â
âYouâll see,â he replied with a sly grin.
âAh! But I want to know.â
âNope, I ainât going to tell you kiddo. Itâs a surprise and no amount of ugly puppy dog eyes is going to change my mind.â Let her frustrated curiosity distract her for a bit. âI ainât going to tell you when itâs going to be finished either.â Mostly because he didnât know either. âThatâs got to be a surprise too.â
âHmmm⌠Iâm real excited then. Thank you, youâre the best dad.â
He wasnât and he never would be but⌠he was trying his best. Thatâs all anyone could ever ask of him, right?
-
It took almost another whole week to finally finish it. It was⌠a suit of armor shaped like Hat Kid, the same height as when sheâd died. The head had been the hardest but with a little magic and assistance from a Subconite whoâd been a smith when alive, heâd gotten it about right.
Next, he sewed clothes for it. Just like Hat Kidâs normal outfit except the cape he made looked like the ones the Subconites wore. He even put her hat on it after making absolutely sure all the blood had been cleaned off. Now all that was left to do was check to make sure it wouldnât fall to shambles when Hat Kid possessed it. It shouldnât, it was human shaped and suits of armor were the second most possessed thing after dolls but it was still possible.
âYo kid,â he said as he popped in on Hat Kid playing with some of the Subconites. âI got a surprise for you.â
Her face lit up with excitement. âIs it the doll you made for me?â
âBingo! Letâs go.â He snapped as he transported them through his pocket dimension to the hidden room heâd been making the âdollâ in.
Hat Kid let out an audible gasp soon as she saw it. âReally?â She turned her head back to look at him. âFor me?â
âNo, I made it look like you and dressed it up like you for one of the Subconites. Iâm just showing it to you to tease you and be mean.â
She giggled a little, a sound he hadnât heard from her in what felt like ages now. âOkay uh⌠how do I do the thing?â
âJust go up to it and slide into it. It should come naturally to you once youâre in the right position.â
Hat Kid floated over to hover in front of and then around behind it. She tentatively placed her hands on it shoulders. She faded into it and a second a later it jerked to life as if taking a breath, yellow light suddenly pouring out of its eye sockets.
âOh, this feels⌠weird but in a good way,â she said looking down at her hands and moving them around, flexing her fingers. âOh and I have legs again.â She marched around in a little circle, clanking softly. âThis is so cool! Thank you.â She turned back to face Snatcher. The metal face was weird to look at and the mouth couldnât change from its soft smile but he could tell she was probably smiling internally wider than she had since before her death.
Snatcher allowed himself a small sigh of relief. It had worked and wasnât falling apart and she was happy again. âItâs whatever,â he said, trying to wave it off as not a big deal because he didnât want to talk about how hard heâd worked on it or why. Emotions werenât his thing.
She wasnât having that though. She ran over and hugged him tight. âI love you dad.â
He flinched. Sheâd never said that before, sheâd implied it plenty of times but never outright said it. âUhâŚâ He patted her awkwardly on the top of her hat. âI uh⌠umâŚâ
âItâs okay,â she said as she released him and stepped back. âYou donât have to say it. I know you do. You wouldnât have made this for me if you hadnât.â
Snatcher looked away. âLetâs uh⌠go show all the Subconites, huh? Iâm sure theyâll love it.â
He brought them back to Subcon Village and moved back to let her run around and show everybody. It needed a good stress test anyway. So far it seemed heâd done a good job though.
For this drabble event.

Fic Rec Bingo
I saw this making the rounds on Twitter and decided Iâd like to try it (mostly because I enjoy going back through my list and reminiscing about the ones I love but havenât read in a while), but didnât feel like Twitter was the best place to post mine. Iâve got both Dreamwidth and Pillowfort, but I havenât really used them. This is probably the kind of thing that should go there, so maybe Iâll post it there, too. Weâll see.Â
Anyway, I only read in four fandoms, so maybe my recs will be boring to most people. But theyâre good stories, and maybe there are even some people out there who havenât read them.Â
I donât expect any reblogs or anything, but maybe people will see it and decide theyâd like to take part, and then there will be more fic recs out there making the world a better place.
I put them under a cut because the descriptions and stuff take up so much space.
1. A fic you love without knowing the source material Take the Pieces and Build them Skywards by quarterturn Bandom ** Frank/Gerard ** 44,816 ** Explicit ** Character Death Gerard's not happy with his life, but that doesn't mean he's particularly thrilled when he wakes up dead. To add insult to injury, he finds out that instead of crossing over, he's been chosen to join the ranks of the grim reapers. Things get more complicated when he falls for one of the living, a waiter named Frank Iero. And just when everything finally seems to be falling into place, Frank's name shows up on the list of souls to be reaped. Loosely based on the TV show Dead Like Me.
I donât know anything about the TV show Dead Like Me; when I first read this fic in 2009, I had never even heard of it. Iâve wondered since then if I like it even better because I donât know anything about the source material, but Iâll never know.It made me laugh and cry; itâs an emotional roller coaster, and I love it.
2. A fic with a premise that shouldnât work but does
An Inexplicable Occurrence of Angels by stele3
Bandom ** Frank/Gerard ** 35,192 ** PG-13 ** No Warnings
I've messed with the band timeline, clearly. This is set in summer of 2005... but it ain't the Summer of Like. This is a story about second chances and gutting through your own failures, but never letting them defeat you. Take that, bitches.
Frank (Frank!) is a literal angel, okay, but there is not a thing I donât love about this story. Itâs angsty but still manages to be cute and charming as fuck, and the characterization is great.
3. A fic youâve reread several times
Seeds by thesardine
Sherlock ** Gen, supposedly ** 5,475 ** PG-13 ** No Warnings
In a fit of boredom Sherlock plants some seeds, may or may not eat one cracker, and definitely waxes dramatic on the sofa for a while.
Sherlock struggles with a bit of depression caused by boredom, and accidentally discovers a hobby he slowly learns to allow himself to enjoy. I love this a lot; the author takes us into Sherlockâs headspace, so youâre painfully aware just how much he needs a distraction, and how much better off he is with John in his life.
4. A fic you still remember many years later
In Care Of by Fangs_Fawn
Harry Potter ** Gen ** 45,319 ** PG-13 ** Child Abuse
During the summer before sixth year, Harry finds an injured bat in the garden and decides to try to heal it...and an unwilling Snape learns just what kind of a person Harry Potter really is.
Between the Dursleys getting whatâs coming to them, and the redemption of Harry, Snape, and Dumbledore in each othersâ eyes, this story has really stuck with me through the years.
5. A comfort fic
Nature and Nurture by earlgreytea68
Sherlock ** Sherlock/John ** 203,273 ** Mature ** No Warnings
The British Government accidentally clones Sherlock Holmes. Which brings a baby to 221B Baker Street.
Thousands of words of fluff. Literally. Thereâs not a lot of conflict in this story, which makes it a great comfort fic when your mind is too busy or real life is too depressing.
6. A cathartic fic
The Quiet Man by ivyblossom
Sherlock ** Sherlock/John ** 157,369 ** Explicit ** No Warnings
"Do you just carry on talking when I'm away?"
Post-Reichenbach John is walking the line between fantasy and reality, choosing to stay with the Sherlock in his head rather than deal with the reality where he no longer exists. He eventually manages to attempt a normal life, but heâs bored and basically sleepwalking through his days, so when Sherlock finally reveals himself, itâs the best kind of relief. They go after the last remnants of Moriartyâs web, in hopes of a second chance at the life they should have had together.
7. A fic youâd print and put on your bookshelf
Saving Sherlock Holmes by earlgreytea68
Sherlock ** Sherlock/John Mycroft/Greg ** 139,494 ** Mature ** Underage
Okay. So. This was literally supposed to be, like, three or four chapters as a prologue to the show. Sort of a "what happened in the Holmes childhoods to make them the way they are today." That's why it's set in the time period it is, because I thought I was eventually going to leave them to go on to the show. And then...I got a bit carried away and thought, Here I have established the two young Holmes boys. Now what happens if, instead of making them wait twenty years, I give them everything they need to fix themselves right now? Forty-three chapters later, you have this story.
To be honest, I would like to have most of my favorite fics in book form, with actual pages, that I could pluck from my actual shelf and sit and read without the glare of a screen between us. But I do enjoy the feel of this story, and I do believe it would make a good actual book.
8. A fic you associate with a song
Unholyverse by bexless
Bandom ** Frank/Gerard ** 186,764 ** Explicit ** Violence & Character Death
âHe thinks I have stigmata,â Frank said, because what the fucking hell, it couldnât get any worse. He might as well just lay it out.
âOh, well,â said Brian into his hands. âOf course.â
Every time I so much as think about this series, MCRâs Heaven Help Us starts playing in my head.
9. A fic that inspires you
Turn by Saras_Girl
Harry Potter ** Harry/Draco ** 306,708 ** Explicit ** No Warnings
One good turn always deserves another. Apparently.
Frankly, I love every single thing this author has ever churned out, but this one is my very favorite. Harry gets a glimpse into what his life could have been, and a chance to make big changes he desperately needs.Â
10. A fic that brought you on board a new ship
So, So Fucked by Anonymous
Bandom ** Pete/Patrick ** 12,565 ** Mature ** No Warnings
Pete accidentally "outs" himself and Patrick on Good Morning America. Only problem? They're not gay. What now?
I was reading strictly in Harry Potter at the time, and wasnât interested in bandom at all, but my best friend was doing betas for someone who was writing in bandom, and she ended up getting into it and then wrote this one, and kept calling me about it to bounce ideas around, and the story was so cute, and Pete and Patrick were so cute, and I suddenly found myself totally invested. Honestly I think it may have been one of the best things that ever happened to me.
11. A fic you wish could be a movie
The Anatomy of a Fall by novembersmith
Bandom ** Frank/Gerard ** 107,525 ** Explicit ** Violence & Character Death
The unholy union of a high school AU and a ghost story. Gerard's life takes a strange turn when his family moves to a small town in Vermont and he discovers the locals aren't all what they seem to be. Also includes: unexpected nature walks, murder, pining, improper treatment of crime scenes, a number of bone-related puns, high school bullies, and a short-range shrub named Ferdinand.
This story has excellent imagery that I think would work really well on the big screen. Plus I canât even hear the name of it without my heart doing flip-flops.
12. A fic that led to you making friends with the author
Seven ficlets for Valentineâs Day Part VII by RedOrchid
Bandom ** GSF ** 1,042 ** Mature? ** No Warnings
Panic-as-cleaning-equipment-AU Valentine's Day GSF.
I technically donât have a fic for this bingo square, but this one comes close, I guess. The author was already in my larger circle of friends, but we didnât actually talk to each other? She wrote this crack ficlet around the same time we started talking to each other more, and I still vividly remember it because of the genius involved in turning band boys into literal cleaning equipment. The line âRyan bristledâ has stuck with me to this day.
13. free space
Elf âVerse by mokuyoubi
Bandom ** GSF ** 103,247 ** Explicit ** Underage
Modern AU where Ryan is a famous poet, and he and Spencer are fiercely private and insular and stupidly co-dependent until Jon shows up and effortlessly breaks down all their walls.
Or
Wherein Brendon and Frank are Christmas elves who, inspired by Will Farrell movies, venture into the real world to become rock stars. Or something of that nature.
Iâve got a lot of love for this universe for various reasons, but itâs also fun and heartwarming and honestly, I donât really need anything else.
14. A fic youâve gushed about irl
Harry Potter and the Battle of Wills by Jocelyn (and her mum)
Harry Potter ** Mostly Gen ** 137,385 ** Basically PG-13 ** Character Death
Harry mourns his godfather as the war finally begins in earnest, bringing tragedy and new struggles for all those on the side of Good. If they hope to win, all quarrels must be set aside, new alliances must be forged, and Harry Potter must find the courage to face down dark wizards, his own emotions, and a destiny he did not choose. Snape blows his cover as a spy to save Harry from Voldemort.
This begins after Order of the Phoenix, and the story and characters read more like canon than any other HP fic Iâve read, so because of that and because itâs so, so good, I like to rec this one to people who are new to fandom.
15. A fic you associate with a place
Stately Homes of Wiltshire by waspabi
Harry Potter ** Harry/Draco ** 57,582 ** Explicit ** No Warnings
Malfoy Manor has mould, dry rot and an infestation of unusually historical poltergeists. Harry Potter is on the case.
Wiltshire! Iâve never actually been there, but this author is really good about details. The story is also lovely and funny.
16. A fic that made you gasp out loud
Home is a Name by Arsenic
Bandom ** Frank/Gerard ** 39,314 ** Explicit ** No Warnings
MCR Clinic of Love. Companion fic to Wednesday Night Boys.
Okay, so this one is actually a sequel, and the first installment, Wednesday Night Boys, should 100% be read first. It must be said, though, that while the sequel doesnât have any warnings, Wednesday Night Boys is about the Panic! kids as prostitutes, and has warnings for graphic violence, rape/non-con, and underage sex. The MCR guys work at the free clinic, and Home is a Name focuses on them. Theyâre honestly both gorgeous stories.
17. A fic you found at the right time
real or not real by thearkdelinquents
Anne with an E ** Anne/Gilbert ** 11,587 ** PG ** No Warnings
âI could do it.â Gilbert said, looking straight ahead.
Anne stopped. âWhat?â
He turned to look at her; they were just outside Green Gables now. âI could do it. I could court you.â
âWhat- We- You- I- You donât like me like that.â Anne sputtered.
Gilbert smirked at her. âWell we could pretend. I could court you and be your fake boyfriend.â
For one of the few times in her life, Anne Shirley-Cuthbert was speechless.
-
a fake dating fic but it's basically just a shirbert To All The Boys I Loved Before au.
I really, really loved Anne with an E. When the final season was released, I spent a weekend binge-watching the entire show, and then it was over and I was bereft, so I decided to see what was available on Ao3, and I found this, and it was exactly what I needed. And now I have another fandom.
18. A fic that you would read fic of
Left by lifeonmars
Sherlock ** Sherlock/John ** 45,153 ** Mature ** No Warnings
John Watson is left-handed.
Heâs tried not to let it affect his life, but as any Lefty knows, thatâs almost impossible.
In this universe, all right-handed people have some kind of power, or âknackâ, most of which are mild and easily categorized. Sherlockâs is rare and believed to be the only one like it in the world. John is left-handed, part of the 10% of the population without a knack. I would read all kinds of fics of this fic.
19. A fic that made you laugh out loud
What to do When Your Flatmate is Homicidal by hyacinth_sky747
Sherlock ** Sherlock/John ** 58,650 ** Explicit ** No Warnings
Sherlock takes Molly's advice when dealing with his dangerous flatmate.
Heartwarming and hilarious. I laughed a lot.
20. A fic with a line (or two) that youâve memorised by heart
A Necessary Requirement by Bexless
Bandom ** Frank/Gerard ** 3,759 ** Mature ** No Warnings
Right, here is the extremely silly storylet I wrote BY HAND on holiday. On PAPER. With a PEN. My god. The things I do when I'm separated from my beloved net. It is set during the Summer of Like (Warped '05, for those of you who don't know) and is basically a product of my reaction to various pictures of Gerard groping himself on stage, which led to me obsessing about his dick and what it might look like. As usual, I chose to work this obsession out through Frank.
This fic could have gone to multiple other squares, but I am not usually the kind of person who can quote lines from things, and I have many lines from this story committed to memory. Iâve read it multiple times, because I read it every time I need a pick-me-up or a good laugh. Or if Iâve read something scary and I need something lighter before I can actually get up and move around my house...
21. A fic that gave you butterflies
Pretty Much A Sex God by adellyna
Bandom ** Spencer/Jon ** 3,985 ** PG-13 ** No Warnings
Jon and Spencerâs first date.
The Jon in this story is so soft and warm and fluffy and his character makes my heart and stomach do weird things.
22. A fic that embodies something you value in life
A Marauderâs Plan by CatsAreCool (Rachel500)
Harry Potter ** Harry/Hermione ** 865,520 ** PG13 ** Violence/Death/Underage
What if Sirius decided to stay in England and deliver on his promise to raise Harry instead of hiding somewhere sunny? Changes abound with that one decision...
ALSO
Harryâs New Home by kbinnz
Harry Potter ** Gen ** 318,389 ** PG-13 ** Abuse
One lonely little boy. One snarky, grumpy git. When the safety of one was entrusted to the other, everyone knew this was not going to turn out well... Or was it? AU, sequel to "Harry's First Detention".Â
In these two stories, Sirius and Severus throw everything they have into creating the best possible world for Harry, as he is their number one priority, because that is exactly how parenthood should be.Â
23. A favourite AU
Performance In a Leading Role by Mad_Lori
Sherlock ** Sherlock/John ** 156,714 ** Explicit ** No Warnings
Sherlock Holmes is an Oscar winner in the midst of a career slump. John Watson is an Everyman actor trapped in the rom-com ghetto. When they are cast as a gay couple in a new independent drama, will they surprise each other? Will their on-screen romance make its way into the real world?
This has got quite a bit of schmoop, which isnât usually my thing, but this story is so, so good, and I always love stories that describe Sherlock realizing and appreciating how extraordinary John is.
24. A fic you stayed up too late to finish reading
Collared by VelvetMace
Sherlock ** Sherlock/John ** 83,028 ** Explicit ** Violence & Rape/Non-Con
In a world where the British Empire is still strong and slavery is her economic backbone, John has become a terrorist for the abolitionist movement. He is caught by Mycroft, enslaved, and given to Sherlock for training. The goal: To test a new kind of slave collar with the power to break even the strongest willed fighter. One that will make even John learn to love being a slave.
Dubious consent, and humiliation. I remember staying up very late reading this one, even though I had to work early the next morning. I just couldnât put it down.Â
25. A fic that made you feel seen
Buy Handmade by jjtaylor
Bandom ** Frank/Gerard ** 18,755 ** Mature ** No Warnings
He knows something else is going to happen; his life isn't always going to be this. He just doesn't know what has to happen for that change to come, for him to wake up and become an artist with an Etsy page and a home studio, and to never have to see a cubicle again.
This is the story of my heart. I have felt Frankieâs feelings and thought his thoughts, and I love that he does something about it, and I love Gerard so, so much. I first read this in 2009, and my love for it has never wavered. I could have used this one for a good half of the bingo squares, but itâs the only one that could go here.

2 HousekeepingÂ
I looked around myself, wondering where on earth I was â or was this Earth at all?  What was it â a dream, my imagination playing tricks on me, some sort of virtual construct like the Matrix? No matter what it was, I was there, I felt perfectly normal apart from a little nausea. And what was more, the man standing next to me felt real  - very real. I looked down at myself â I was vey much me, just slimmer and younger and wearing my current favourite outfit â black skinny jeans with a striped top and fitted jacket.
We stood in a bright space, like a big waiting room with lots of doors leading off to every side. There was a desk where a receptionist had her head bowed down, and there were seats all around â sofas and easy chairs, and other people walked around chatting or looking at what looked like smartphones or hand terminals. It was all rather like science fiction. Drake grinned at me.
âImpressiveâ
âWhat?â
âThis place â you made it the way you expected it to be. Iâve met others who had oak panelled libraries or hospital waiting rooms. I like this one, itâs bright and airy. Youâre also your best idea of yourself â you donât look much different from what I saw before, so you must be pretty self confidentâ
âI - youâre welcome I supposeâ
âOkay, we need to get you checked in, make everything official in case you need to be found in an emergencyâ
âLike what?â
âWell obviously if your partner woke and found you sitting sleeping in front of the laptop and couldnât wake you he might freak out, so weâd send you back straight awayâ He started toward the reception desk, and on the way I saw a familiar figure.
âHold on â is thatâŚâ I started, and the tall neatly bearded man clapped Drake on the shoulder
âWalker, you found another one â I hope youâve explained everything to her. Good afternoonâŚâ he stopped âor is it morning? It doesnât matter, welcome to our world â which you had a hand in makingâ
âTh - thankyou â Bastien?â I stammered, shaking the hand he offered me, slightly overawed.
âIn the fleshâ he smiled âI hope you enjoy your time with usâ He walked away and I turned to Drake, mouth open.
âIs there â will I meet all the others?â
âIf theyâre around, yes. Iâll introduce you to a few after we get you signed inâ We went up to the desk and the blonde woman looked up, unimpressed by my appearance.
âName?â she intoned, totally deadpan and uninterested
âHi Maddy, this is Lesley â she wrote the latest one Iâve been inâ
âOh yes? Fantasticâ she said sarcastically. She looked at me and slapped a piece of paper on the counter âFill this in. It wonât take long.â I looked at her critically.
âAre you â are you Madeleine? From Fydelia?â the blond woman rolled her eyes.
âYes, what of it?â
âWell I â I suppose Iâm surprisedâ
âWell Lesley, if folk were more sympathetic when they wrote about me, maybe Iâd give a damn. Just fill the form inâ She handed me a pen, and Drake led me away to a table, hand on my elbow
âDonât mind her, sheâd be a whole different person ifâŚâ he sighed âsheâs just neglected, made out to be the bad guy, you knowâ I smiled sympathetically and filled the form in â it was simple, just name, date of birth, my nom de plume and username, address and next of kin. There was also a section naming the stories Iâd written. Drake looked over my shoulder.
âDonât worry too much about that, just the name of the series will do, we can find you with your username. I really enjoyed âTwoâs Companyâ, and âCharlotteâs Choiceâ is fun â thatâs partly why I chose you.â I finished and we took the paper back to Madeleine.
âSo, is there anyone youâd like to meet? This visit will just be a little housekeeping, we can go on an adventure next time.â he said. I smiled, excited
âWell I hit the jackpot with you â but Liam perhaps, and â well everyone from the Royal Romance I suppose.â
âSure thing, if I can find them, but be prepared for a couple of surprises with Liamâ
âOh yes â what do you mean?â Drake leaned close to me and kept his voice low âWell for a start thereâs more than one of him â yâknow, he can be three different races to start with â and some writers give him a different name. Sometimes he kind of flickers from one race to another when heâs not in a story, it can be a bit freaky. Plus there are a lot of different face claims for himâ
âOooh that must be confusingâ I exclaimed. Â Drake shrugged
âKind of, but heâs always recognisable â that regal posture you know, even when heâs been written in as a gangster, itâs still there.â He looked down at his hands âI â I have some difficulties too, thanks to the fandom.â I put my hand reassuringly on his shoulder
âIâm sorry to hear that. What exactly do you mean?â He sighed, and as he did, someone came up to greet us. I looked up and my mouth opened in astonishment.
âHey brother, you got another friend? Maybe I can play with her some timeâ Drake grimaced
âMaybe, maybe not, it depends on what fic she chooses.â I looked from one to the other of the two men. They were both Drake, but one - the one who had brought me there - looked just like the drawings from the game, albeit more real, and the other was the spitting image of Ben Barnes. To have two versions of my fictional lover was pretty mind blowing and I was glad I was sitting down, otherwise my legs would not have held me up.
âOh Lord.â I exclaimed âThere must be a Daniel di Tomasso about somewhereâ. The Ben clone grinned.
âBingo. Though if you take Drakey here to a story where the writer uses me as a faceclaim, heâll change.â I gasped
âOh, thatâs â unusual. Does it hurt?â
âNah, but it feels pretty weirdâ Ben/Drake replied. âMyâ Drake  spoke up again
âDonât you have somewhere to be? Les here is my companionâ I felt a little flutter in my stomach at his possessiveness, plus that term wasâŚ
âCompanion? That sounds remarkably likeâŚâ I said, but he suddenly put his hand up, and the Ben clone winced.
âStop! Donât say it! Itâs bad form to name another fandom, plus it messes things up, makes everyone feel sick for a bit. Maybe I shouldnât use that term, but itâs the best one Iâve come acrossâ He turned to Ben/Drake and made a dismissive nod.
âFine.â the other man said âSheâs your date. Anyhow, you should try the writer Iâm with â non stop sex, I can hardly keep upâ He smirked, and reached up to tousle his hair. With a wave, he strode off to one of the doors, a swagger in his walk. Drake leaned across to me
âHe shouldnât count his chickens â Iâve heard a rumour heâs being â well, for want of a better word â terminatedâ
âTerminated? You meanâŚ?â He drew his hand across his throat
âYup. Loads of angst to come there, but he gets to hang around as a ghost for a while. Itâs not as bad as it sounds, heâll be back to normal in the next fic heâs assignedâ He reached across the table to me, taking my hand. There was an odd little jolt, an electric shock, and he smiled as I jumped slightly âThatâs a good sign, we have a connection. Is there anything you want to ask?â
âAre there other companions? How often will we meet up? How do we chooseâŚâ He put his hand up again.
âWoah, slow down Les, thatâs a whole lot of questions. Yes there are other companions, mainly following my character and Liamâs, and in this particular place, as youâve only ever written about our story, thereâs no crossover with any others â and again, donât mention them, things get weird.â He paused âHow often we meet is up to you â was this time good for you?â I nodded âIâll be there waiting, just minimise the screen and Iâll find you. The choosing â thatâs more complicated, what weâll do is go over some of the original stories, get acquainted â after all there is some pretty steamy stuff out thereâ I gulped nervously.
âIsnât that like having an affair? I have to tell youâŚâ I felt myself blush furiously âIâve only ever had one partnerâ He smiled and squeezed my hand
âThatâs adorable, and so rare. But no, itâs not ârealâ now is it? Isnât that one of the first things you said to me? How many times have we made love in your head already?â I squirmed in my seat.
âUh, okay. But am I selling my soul? Will I be able to get back out?â He laughed out loud.
âNo, donât be silly. This is all totally risk free. It happens with books too â itâs just easier electronically, thatâs all. If youâre in a situation you donât like, you can snap your fingers and be back in this hall â like Dorothy and her ruby red slippers. Itâs just a bit of fun, trust me.â
âWell, I think Iâm soldâ I smiled at him. âIs it time to go back yet?â His face dropped a little âoh, not that I want â Iâm happy to stay longer, I just feel â a little shy. Itâs not every day you meet your secret lover who doesnât really existâ He grinned again and my heart melted just a little more.
âYouâre sweet Les, shy is fine. Iâve made some bad choices believe me, some real man eaters who dragged me off to the steamiest fics they could find, it was exhaustingâ
âYou get tired?â he shrugged
âNot physically, after all my character had incredible stamina â but mentally and emotionally I can burn out, you know? The original Drake found it hard to deal with his feelings after all, and no matter how Iâm written, that stays with me.â
âOkay, talking about feeling - how about when youâre shot, or the duel when youâre wounded, does it hurt?â He rubbed the back of his neck.
âWell I donât know how it is in the real world so I canât compare â but itâs unpleasant, that much I can tell you, and if I know itâs coming Iâm not keen on it. Anything else?â
âWhat happens if you arenât attracted to your companion?â I blushed, dammitâŚHe gave my hand a squeeze again.
âWell, itâs not totally random, I see or âfeelâ the fics and go and take a look at the writer â though thatâs not really a factor. Itâs more or less a given that weâll be attracted, as thatâs written in. Also, as youâve found out, you will have an idea in your head of how youâd like to appear, and it shows once you get hereâ He waved his hand to indicate our surroundings âEither that or you match your faceclaim of the main character. Â Actually a lot shows up in the writing, Iâve only once or twice made a bad decision as I said.â
âSo why me?â
âAs I said, I âfeltâ your writing and thought weâd have some fun together. I like to be able to have some choice and not be dragged around randomly. Iâm really pleased youâre okay with all this.â He looked down at my hand, which was beginning to feel odd. I looked down too â it looked strange, becoming transparent, waves washing across it. I looked back up at my companion, and he smiled sadly.
âTime to go back. Iâm sorry we didnât have more time. Close your eyes so itâs not too disorientating. Iâll see you tomorrow, unless you call me before. Iâll be waiting, just minimise your fic when youâre readyâ I nodded and closed my eyes.
I felt the odd pulling sensation again and a sort of a âwhooshâ in my ears, and when I opened my eyes I was back in front of my screen. I could hear my partner coming downstairs to use the bathroom. I blinked a few times and decided I had fallen asleep and had an odd dream. Time to close down, I thought, hit âsaveâ on my document, and closed down to go and join my partner. I quietly slipped into bed beside him.
âWhat time is it?â he said sleepily as I snuggled up beside him, relishing his warmth and solidity. It always was may favourite time of day, joining him in bed.
âBedtimeâ I joked. âI think I fell asleep downstairs â I had the weirdest dreamâ
âUh huhâ he murmured, already drifting back to sleep. He didnât dream much himself, and it was a weird one, so I didnât bother to tell him, just kissed him on the cheek and let the memory lull me off into slumber.

Moral Alignment
My parents were watching some dumbass reality cop show and I got an idea lmao. So hereâs a soul mate thing with Sam/Steve because I really donât write them enough. This is basically just a long ass crack fic tbh.
Steve kind of hates being a cop. When he was a kid he had all these delusions about saving people and being a good person but all he does is deal with people being assholes and do a lot of running mostly. And the useless calls because some parent wants to teach their fucking kid a lesson. Ugh, if he never gets another one of those calls itâll be too soon. At the moment heâs stuck patrolling around, which is literally doing nothing for a stupid amount of time but whatever.Â
Heâs driving down a darker street just to waste his own time when he notices a guy walking along the side of the road dancing a little to whatever is playing in the headphones heâs wearing. When he walks under a street light Steveâs eyebrows go up because wow that guy is hot.
So, like a complete moron, he pulls off to the side of the road where the guy is walking, noting that heâs pulled his headphones off and Steve asks for his name. Technically its something he can do not that he does it often because he thinks its mostly a waste of time but it works for him now. Or at least it does until the guy looks at him, going from somewhat confused to absolutely irritated in a matter of moments as he feels it too.Â
That warm, pleasant feeling in the heart that indicates youâve met your soul mate but thereâs also the words, barring that. âYouâve got to be fucking kidding me,â the guy says and Steveâs cheeks heat a little in embarrassment. He had always sort of hoped his words would be wrong but apparently heâs not so lucky. No one ever is but itâd be nice to cheat the system given his um... rocky start to things.
âI mean Iâm not that bad...â he says in his own defense.
ââNot that badâ? You just randomly stopped a man minding his own damn business to ask for his name and you have that nasty mustache,â he says.
Steve touches his face gently, âI busted my razor this morning and I havenât had time to buy a new one,â he says. âAnd I only pulled over because I thought you were cute,â he adds, a little embarrassed.
His soul mate rolls his eyes and honestly its the most dramatic thing heâs ever seen and he knows Tony Stark personally. And Clint, for that matter. And Bucky. âYou pulled me over because you think Iâm attractive? You are a complete waste of my tax dollars,â he says, arms crossed in annoyance.
âI canât even argue with that,â he mumbles. âIâm a shit cop. Also my name is Steve Rogers, and I still kind of want yours. For soul mate purposes, not cop purposes,â he clarifies.
âSam Wilson. Are you always this easy to throw off guard? Because that seems like a bad trait for a cop,â he points out.
Steve sighs, âI am unflappable. I once had a woman throw actual turds and vomit at me and I was fine, everything worked itself out. But talking to people I find attractive? Never been good at it.â God knows how the hell he and Peggy managed a relationship when he constantly tripped over his words. She found it endearing until she met Angie but Steve thinks theyâre a sweet couple. Very loving.
Sam squints, âand what, you never find the people you arrest attractive?â he asks.
Yeah, its happened. âUsually I have a partner with me so you know, he does stuff. Not much stuff, heâs a way worse cop than me. Once we were trying to deescalate a situation and he hid behind the trash cans with the civilians and left me to it. Thankfully raging drug addict with a gun is not my type.â Bucky though... should not be a cop. Usually Natasha sticks him on desk duty because his ability to organize paperwork is actually pretty good.
âAre there any not shit cops that you work with?â Sam asks, squinting again.
âPretty much everyone but me and Bucky. Ever seen Brooklyn Nine Nine? Weâre Hitchcock and Scully even though we both want to be Rosa or Holt. In that order.â They suck at the job mostly because they have no passion for it, which is what makes anyone good at their job, but now theyâre kind of stuck with this so whatever.Â
It pays the bills and sometimes Steve gets to rescue kittens from trees so thatâs decent. That time he had to chase that one woman through a haunted house with his easily scared best friend and completely useless cop though is far less âdecentâ as far as career choices go. Bucky damn well knew they were all fake, why did he keep screaming at the ghosts? And everyone thought they were wearing costumes. Fuck Halloween, Steveâs tired of being mistaken for a stripper gram.
âHmm,â Sam mumbles. âWell, at least you donât seem racist even if youâve got all the makings of a âgo back to your own countryâ starter kit going on,â he says, waving an arm around at the car and his face. Steve so resents that but the mustache is a little much. When Natasha saw him this morning she told him he looked like heâd be willing to dry fuck a truckâs tailpipe and Bucky laughed so hard he almost choked to death on his donut.
âDid I really give off that racist of a vibe? I want to know because I donât really want to give that vibe off,â he says seriously. He might hate being a cop but he doesnât want to be intimidating either, especially not in a racist way. Though if anyone knew about the Princess Bubblegum and Marceline bobble heads in his car theyâd probably not find him intimidating in any kind of fashion.
Sam gives him a look that indicates heâs 200% done with Steve and he really doesnât know what he did aside from generally being a useless cop. âYou pulled over because a black man was dancing around a little on the side of the road? I know Iâve got the rhythm of a drunk white girl grinding on some guy to âshake it offâ by Taylor Swift in a club but thatâs not illegal,â he says.
Steve lets out a groan and drops his head to the steering wheel, ignoring the sharp âbeepâ that sounds from the car. âOh my god you thought I racially profiled you,â he mumbles.
âBingo,â Sam says. âBut... in your slight defense Iâd arrest me if I witnessed that too,â he admits. âAnd also in your slight defense I guess I could have looked like someone you were trying to arrest.â Heâs intentionally reaching but its sweet that heâs trying to let Steve off the hook especially since he out and out admitted to pulling him over because he thought he was cute.
He should probably find a new job. âSo um. When we tell people how we met weâre telling them I heroically saved your life,â he says.
Sam snorts, âhell no, weâre telling them the truth- that your useless cop ass pulled me over to get my name because you thought I was cute and what were you even going to do after that?â he asks.
Steve winces again, âI didnât think that far ahead, I was just hoping to strike up a conversation and get your number,â he admits.
âAlright honey, Iâm taking pity on you because you are clearly a clueless, yet harmless, human being. Donât hit on people in uniform, theyâll feel obligated to flirt back. What are you doing?â he asks and Steve lets out another groan.
âGod damnit I am not usually this clueless, I swear. I think I might have sensed the soul mate thing because Iâm not this stupid normally.â Jesus, he canât believe he hadnât thought of that. Thankfully Sam is the brains of this operation of god knows where this would go.
**
Bucky grins, enthused by Steveâs utter embarrassment regarding how he met his soul mate. âNatasha!â he calls, âcome here, Steveâs got his best âdumb gay slutâ moment yet and it involves his soul mate!â And itâll probably be his last so heâs pleased that this one is a damn good one.
Natasha immediately sticks her head out of her office, âon a scale of Clint and Phil meeting to you and Tony meeting how good is it?â she asks.
âBetter than me and Tony, for sure,â he says and Nat grins, plodding over immediately. Yeah, he would too if the story was better than that time Bucky met Tony literally falling out of the sky and using Bucky as a cushion. He pities Tony for having the noise he made permanently tattooed on his body. Its worse than that noise in that song by Imagine Dragons- Radioactive- after breathing in the chemicals. The good news is that Steve finally topped his ridiculous story with his own.
He explains to Natasha what happened and from start to finish its a damn ride. Natasha snickers, considering Sam for a moment and the man is brave because he stares back. Sometimes when they have trouble getting confessions they send in Nat and most people are so scared they give up basically five seconds into her stare down. âSo,â she says, âwhere do you fit in the Moral Alignment Test?â she asks.
Steve gives Sam a panicked look because this is a trick question- they all made up their own types years ago but Sam just smirks. âIâm chaotic asshole,â he says and Steveâs eyebrows fly up as Bucky gasps.
âYouâre my mortal enemy. Iâm lawful scared,â he says.
Sam squints at him for a moment before he turns to Steve, âI hope you donât like this one much because I hate him already. Where do you sit on the alignment?â he asks Steve, who sighs.
âOne, thatâs the best friend I told you about. The Scully to my Hitchcock even though heâd rather be the Scully to my Mulder. Actually heâd be Mulder. Anyways Iâve been told Iâm lawful super slut,â he mumbles, obviously hoping that would get lost in the rest.
Sam snorts, âguess that explains you âdumb gay slutâ reputation. Actually, you know what, pulling over to question me because you thought I was hot gave you away. And your lawful scared best friend needs to go,â he adds.
âDonât be rude, I became a cop so I can arrest annoying people and youâre getting on my nerves,â Bucky tells him.
âHowâs that going for you?â Sam asks, deadpan.
âSee any annoying people around here?â he asks and from the look on Steveâs face heâs just pulled an Icarus, except heâd flying into the sun, not too close to it.
âI see you,â Sam says, power bombing him verbally through the precinct floor. Well, ok. He set himself up for that.
