𝙂𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 🍣 @sugoijpn is a Japanese and Latin fusion creating Noritaco’s, a crispy seaweed tempura shell with sushi rice and Japanese Latin fusion fillings, and they are BEAUTIFUL. @deliveroo’ing currently from Wimbledon and Chelsea, with Shoreditch to come in the future, @sugoijpn are absolutely going to become a regular choice for me. It’s sushi on a whole other level, and they don’t hold back on the fillings. There’s 6 options available, with 3 of them also being available as gluten free. I tried out the following: Tropical- tuna, salmon, mango, masago, avocado. Rumba- kanikama (crab stick), salmon, bubu arare (Japanese popped rice) Señor Crab- fried tempura soft shell crab Diablo- fried chicken Karaage, ginger, chilli It’s so hard to pick a favourite, they were all SO good. The Rumba was a bit special as you get a kinda popping Candy sensation, plus that crab was so creamy and tasty. But the chicken and soft shell crab were also so light and crispy, I loved the texture. There’s sides available too, such as veggie gyoza and takoyaki, plus for dessert there’s vanilla mochi in an oreo cookie crumb with Nutella. If you’re in west london and within @deliveroo range then you deffo need to give these a try, you’ll be hooked. . . . . . #nori #noritacos #noritaco #taco #tacos #tacotuesday #tacos🌮 #tacosarelife #sushi #sushitime🍣 #japanese #japanesefood #japanesefoods #sushiporn #sushilovers #london #londonfood #londonlife #londoneats #londonist #londonfoodie #sushiroll #sushitime #sushilover #tacolover #tacolove #sugoi #sugoijpn (at Sugoi JPN) https://www.instagram.com/p/CKOL8nOhmn0/?igshid=gmrwt0wzjl2b

Torch Lauches Its New Noritacos and Elevated Cocktails
What happens when a pretty but lonely Sushi meets a charming and energetic Taco? Prepare to witness the love child of these all-time favorites as Torch Restaurant introduces not just one, not just two, but eight differnt types of Noritaco! These adorable babies are creating quite a stir at Torch Restaurant and they have even brought along some friends with them as ten new Elevated Cocktails have also been launched to make this the most amazing party this side of town.
Torch is one of Manila's favorite restaurants and watering holes which offers a wide range of fusion cuisine that spans different regions. I had my first encounter at Torch two years ago during the opening of their Greenbelt 5 branch (read about it here) and they have come so far from their humble beginnings in 2010 as they now boast of 7 locations around Metro Manila which also includes Trinoma, Greenhills, Katipunan, Molito, UP Town Center and tonight’s venue at Bonifacio High Street Central.
Torch is popular for its combination of Japanese, Italian, and American comfort food cooked in playful and creative ways. Their top three staples include sushi, pizza and steak served in barkada-sized servings great for sharing. All these are enjoyed in a relaxing and casual setting, making Torch a destination perfect for dates, families, and friends from morning until late night.
The Hungry Kat along with a few blogger friends were invited to try out the new Noritaco variants at Torch BGC. It was my first time to visit this branch which is located on the second level of Bonifacio High Street Central. We were seated at the restaurant’s private dining area which is best for intimate gatherings and special celebrations.
As with every Torch branch, complimentary fried pasta sticks are served for guests to nibble on while waiting for their orders to arrive.
Mexican and Japanese cuisine go together to create the new Noritaco! There are eight different kinds of noritaco to choose from and these can be ordered solo or in pairs. Each noritaco has a fried shell made of nori or Japanese seaweed and batter. It is then filled with white rice and then topped with a combination of items similar to sushi.
I was not sure which one to try first because everything looked so enticing and colorful. I ended up getting the one that seemed most interesting to me because of its main component, soft-shell crab.
The Kumo (P173) is a noritaco topped with soft-shell crab, spicy mango, alfalfa and tobiko. The taco shell is crunchy to the bite and each noritaco is actually quite big and filling. There is a generous amount of rice so it is like eating a small meal in one go. I like eating the soft-shell crabs as these items are not so common to find in the menu.
Meat lovers will want to order the Oniku (P203) with its heavy serving of U.S. Angus Beef plus shitake, leeks and carrots topped with teriyaki sauce. These savoury Angus beef strips are quite a mouthful.
I also liked the Hotto Ebi (P138) which is filled with juicy shrimp, spicy olio, mango salsa and cilantro. This is the lowest-priced noritaco but it is packed with flavors. I think I’m already getting full because these noritacos are really big!
Another elegant creation is the Shibasu (P189) with seabass tempura, mango salsa, spring onion, unagi sauce, and tobiko.
But everyone’s favorite noritaco that evening was the Chuka Iidako (P153) which is topped with spicy baby octopus, goma sauce, cucumber and spring onion. The slightly chewy baby octopus are quite sweet and delightful as it blends well with the soft rice and the crunchy taco shell.
The best thing to pair up with these noritaco are the new elevated cocktails from Torch Restaurant. There are ten new craft cocktails being launched and you can just choose your own favorites. The Ember (P285) is an upgraded gin and tonic with its Tanqueray Gin plus black peppercorn, lime, and anise for extra flavors.
A more fruity cocktails would be Wither (P312) with its combination of Jose Cuervo Traditional, Campari, orange juice, lime juice, cucumber and orange. Each cocktail can be accompanied by your choice of side dish like the Mini US Angus Meatballs (+P95). These hot and juicy meatballs are great sidekicks to any beverage.
The Calcine (P380) comes with its frothy glass containing Laphroaig Single Malt, lemon juice, egg white, apricot syrup, cinnamon and orange. It can be ordered with a side of Fish Croquettes (+P85) or Nori Chips (+P55).
Here are some of the other new elevated cocktails to try. The Piston (P380) is a combination of Henessy VS, lime juice, ginger, and berries, while the Flint (P275) is a more adventurous cocktail filled with Captain Morgan, Coca-Cola, corn milk, mint leaves, and Caramelized Butter! The result is a sweet and unique blend that is unlike any other. Try it at your own risk.
A visit to Torch would not be complete if you don’t order any of their signature dishes like the White Truffle Sausage Panizza (P430). This is what I always order at Torch and I really love its grilled Italian sausages drizzled with white truffle oil topped with mozzarella cheese on a fresh oven-baked panizza.
But I can never resist steak so I still had room for the US Angus Tenderloin Salpicao Medallion (P580) with its certifed Angus Beef wrapped in bacon then served with garlic parsley rice or mashed potatoes. This big steak is served on a sizzling stone plate and you can continue to cook your beef tabletop according to your preferred doneness.
Torch continues to blaze the trail in serving its own kind of fusion comfort food that appeals to its wide fan base. The new noritaco and elevated cocktails will add even more exciting options to the menu and the only problem will be having to choose which ones to get. Visit Torch Restaurant now and find your own favorites.
