I am a pacifist, but throughout my life I have been put in situations where those around me are less serene and composed and I have the literal scars to prove it. This chaotic nature, where an individual does not have control affects my life and that of my closest. . I chose many years ago not to be a violent person, to take conscious control of my actions but also to know when i need to take a stand and now how to take that stand. Training in martial arts, as well as self-defense has boosted the confidence I have in myself and the abilith to avoid or get out of unwanted situations. . .r.ethink KICKass workouts. Emphasis on the word KICK. . Kick basics 103: footwork. (3/3) . Footwork is arguably the most complex component of any martial arts. The reason: footwork predestines your ability to generate power, sets your angle for both delivery of your kick, but also where your body will end up in space after your kick. . Roundhouse Basics: your front foot starts (usually the non-dominant foot) pointing at your target. . Pushing off the back foot, turn your front foot (in this case - to face 90° to the left). This means that this opens up the R. Hip to generate power. . Do not attempt to strike a target, rather move the weapon (in this case; the leg and foot) through space and return it to the ground ASAP. It is for this reason in non-classical wing chun that we never kick above the hip and that the momentum (and thus mass) of our kicks are always directed downward "drop your mass" and through space "hit them with the planet". . More than 80% of all kicks and punches miss their target. As a result it is important for the "combatant" to return to a defensive position ASAP after delivering a kick. If contact is made the leg usually rebounds to a degree (or stops), if not it is imperative that you are not left unbalanced and in a vulnerable position as most take downs, KOs etc come from either parries, or counterattacks. .
