for whoever needs to hear this:
starting HRT doesn't have to be a huge momentous all-or-nothing decision. you can just try it like you would an antidepressant you've been informed of the risks of.
there won't be any immediate irreversible changes overnight. you can always stop, change your dose, change your delivery system, decide it's not the right time. you can even microdose if you want to.
you don't have to tell anyone. you don't have to announce it if you don't want to.
stop waiting for a perfect time in your life because it won't come.
stop waiting to reach a mythical level of certainty that never comes to anyone, for anything.
you've been thinking about it long enough. if you have the opportunity, just give it a shot. you're worth the courage it takes to make a change in your life.

Reminder that the response to “you’ll never be a man/woman” is not to list off all the ways that hrt has profound changes on the human body but to reject completely any sex-based or hormone-based definition of gender.
I get the impulse to justify yourself, I really do, but it is impossible to justify yourself to bigots, and trying to do so leaves behind so many trans and intersex people who don’t fit the acceptable narrative you’re trying to create.

btw, as someone with hypermobile ehlers-danlos who self-injects HRT, i wanted to take the time to recommend liquid bandage to anyone else with hEDS and any other conditions that cause one to have easily damaged skin!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
i use the Walmart brand but it is the same as this one here! they generally contain antiseptic as well, so it helps sterilize the injection site as well! i've included the back of the package to show the active ingredients, make sure you check just to be safe if you have allergies to certain medications. it peels off super easy, i never notice when it comes off, whereas with latex and fabric bandages, it would pull and tear my skin too much, to the point where it would cause bleeding. this does the trick with no pain or skin damage!

PSA for trans people, trans mascs and fems, and enbies & intersex folks on T or E injections (or injections in general):
Your injections should AT WORST feel like a hard pinch if you hit a vein on accident. It should NOT sting the whole time, itch, be tender for more than a day, and should not cause significant bruising. (Edit!: This is the weekly injections, the monthly or longer lasting injections are sore for a while because the liquid is THICC.)
I was not told this when I started, and missed that I was allergic to my shots for the first 2 months I was on T. There is more than one type of carrier oil, and the type of T they prescribe most often is more likely to have allergic reactions (cypionate with cottonseed oil). You should not have to suffer more just to get your gender juice. You can also gain allergies over time, so if you start experiencing these symptoms, check in with your doctor!
(Another Edit: PLEASE talk to your doctor before assuming stuff, I'm just a guy on the internet trying to make sure that y'all have more info.)
Tips for less painful/irritated injections I've gotten from people (all anecdotal, again, check with your doc):
-Intramuscular injections are usually less likely to be irritated than subcutaneous ones.
-Rub VERY hard with your alcohol wipe before injecting to numb up the skin a little bit.
-Make sure to rub the vial between your hands to warm it before using the draw up needle. It makes the fluid less thick, so it’s less painful to inject.
(I'll add more if people share)

I did it. I called my parents, told them they need to use they/them for me for us to have a healthy relationship, and it worked.
My dad said his love for me is unconditional and he's invested in getting this right. My mom asked in a strained tone how this affects my relationship with my husband, how she's supposed to refer to me with people in her life, etc. (best case scenario given how abysmal this convo went with her a year ago). And we ended it all with our life updates and "I love you"s.
Since it took a lot of research to find articles more suited to adult children coming out as trans/nonbinary, here's the list of (primarily non-aggressive) resources on terms and mindset I texted them in case they can help anyone else:
Itchy sweaters: An ally’s guide to understanding late-in-life pronoun and gender changes (new pronouns = softer sweater metaphor)
Your adult child just came out as non-binary. Now what? (terminology)
The Wonderful World of Gender: What It Means to Be Nonbinary (terminology)
What Does It Mean to Misgender Someone? (terminology)
8 Things I’ve Learned Parenting a Non-Binary Kid That Might Help You (acknowledges parent's emotional response)
Edit:
OMG Y'ALL MY MOM JUST TEXTED THIS
"I know I was quiet in today's conversation but you are my child and I love you and support you. I want nothing but happiness and a healthy life for you!!!😉😀"

By cutting out the TQ+, you also cut out:
-Intersex people
-Two-spirit gays and other culturally connected gays
-Gender nonconforming people
-Those who are questioning their sexuality
-Gays, lesbians, and bi's who are supportive of trans people
-Millions of kind, loving, supportive humans who have gone through indescribable, traumatic abuse and wish to build a safe, welcoming community
Why are you so eager to exclude and belittle people? Why do you tell them they 'don't know what real struggle looks like' when their healthcare, their future, and their lives are under attack? Do you truly value 'love', or do you just want to swat away as many people as possible? Why do you continue to hide under a rock and dig yourself deeper into festering hatred, when you can simply come out and support people who can help you?
Wouldn't it be easier to unite with our trans and nonbinary friends to help defeat the growing threat of genuine fascism in our country? Those conservative Christian nationalists and white supremacists who tell you you're "one of the good ones" would gladly turn around and shoot you in a heartbeat, because when they say they're fighting the 'woke gender ideology', they'll mutter in the same breath that you gays are 'degenerates', 'sodomites', and 'animals'. Why would you side with the villains, who see you the same way they see us?
We cannot let oppression continue in any form. We will all be on the winning side of history as we step closer to ending the cycle of hatred and bullying. Open your hearts and minds and you'll find that the everyone around you is just as human as you, and are more similar to you than you'd think. Trans people are people, just like you, and we need your help and support just as much as you need ours.
Isn't it neat how people who are supportive of all LGBTQ+ identities are also kinder, more loving, more empathetic, and more caring towards their friends and loved ones? Just something to think about.
Love wins. Trans rights are human rights.

Eroticizing tgel application. Putting on gloves and massaging you. Rubbing your strong shoulders and working my fingers into any knots. Tracing my fingers down your torso and stroking your happy trail. How lovely that your body is getting hairier with each dose. I pump the gel onto my gloved hand and rub it into your skin. I love helping you create the body you desire

I think it's incredibly important to remind folks on testosterone or folks who want to reverse patterned baldness about their options, but man, does it sometimes suck wondering how much of our insecurities about our hair stem from backwards beliefs that to strive towards beauty is not only preferable but "makes you good."
As someone with a rather masculinized body pre-medical transition, patterned baldness has always seemed neutral. Hair is incredibly important (hell, much of my own energy is spent on my hair because I like it), but the pressure to have hair, to have hair the "right way" is something that I absolutely loathe.
I'm not here to judge people who don't want patterned hair loss or baldness, I'm here to say that those traits will never make you lesser. Not only is it neutral, but it is also just as worthy and beautiful.

the protector of the forest - part 2
first part can be found here: part 1
cw: dubcon, dendrophilia
the plant begins by undressing you, and you hear the sound of fabric tearing. as your sensitive skin is slowly exposed, the plant pets you almost reverently all over your body, exploring it slowly. the appendages stroke your chest, your lips, even your ears and tickle your sides up and down until you giggle. the tendrils touch your thighs, inching ever closer to where you need to be touched the most. the plant is learning which spots on your body are the sweetest, teasing you until you can't help but whimper. it wraps itself all around you, one tendril even going around your throat, not really squeezing yet.
good, dear one. let me hear your pretty noises.
it takes particular interest in your nipples, rubbing and toying with them until they're hardened and aching. you're becoming needier, unable to hold back your moans, your noises filling the otherwise silent clearing. still, the plant has not even touched your cunt, and you’re already dripping thanks to the aphrodisiacs and the plant’s soft touches.
"oh gods-! touch my pussy, i need it so bad!” you whine.
beg for it.
“please please please- oh, touch my cunt, please, i need to be fucked!” you plead as your clit and hole ache to be used.
good pet.
then, one of the many thicker appendages finally reaches out to flick at your swollen, anguished clit before pushing into your soaked hole. it goes in inch by tantalising inch, spreading you wide open until it reaches the deepest part of you, pressing against that spot inside of you that makes you see stars. the tendril is girthy enough to fill you up perfectly, and it’s covered in small bumps that massage your soft walls exquisitely, making you writhe in ecstasy as it starts thrusting in and out of your gushing hole. you might have thought that being stimulated would help lessen the needy ache caused by the pollen but instead it becomes even more intense; it feels as though you are three times more sensitive than before, and your nerves sing in delight. you buck your hips and try to grind down on the vine, encouraging the plant to fuck you harder.
two smaller vines approach your clit, pinching it inbetween them, nearly making you scream. they knead your needy bud as your hole pulses. another tendril forces itself in your mouth, secreting a sweet, honey-like fluid, and you suckle on it enthusiastically without thinking twice. the liquid flows down your throat, warming you from the inside. as the plant sets a ruthless pace, pounding your cunt, you rapidly reach your peak. you howl in agonising pleasure; the orgasm is so strong it nearly makes you black out. the liquid you swallowed must’ve been another aphrodisiac because you immediately crave more despite not even having recovered from your first climax.
the two tendrils rubbing at your clit retreat as another vine with a small cup at the end latches onto your clit and begins sucking at it when the brutal fucking continues. when your second orgasm approaches, you realise that this one will be different, and before you can do or say anything, squirt sprays out of you, drenching your thighs and the vines below.
well done, darling. give me all you’ve got.
obscene wet noises echo through the clearing as the plant has its way with you. thin vines swat your ass, the sharp sting only adding to your pleasure. orgasm after orgasm crashes over you as your mind spins and you lose yourself entirely to the overwhelming sensations. you have no control over your body anymore - you can only submit to the whims of the plant. you have lost track of time; you might have been there for hours with no breaks.
"i- i can't cum again... please don't make me..."
shhh, i know you can, little mortal. just one more time.
you are completely at the mercy of the ancient plant, a mindless doll with a single purpose: to feed the god of the forest with your body. there is nothing you can do as yet another climax tears through you. the sun is already setting when the plant finally releases you; the tendril slides out of your pussy, and the vine that was wrapped around your neck pets your cheek affectionately.
i am ever so grateful. you did well.
you cannot form words, but press a kiss on one of the vines. you slowly begin to notice the state you’re in: covered in pollen from head to toe, clothes torn in shreds, ass red and burning from the whipping, slick dripping down your thighs. how the hell are you supposed to explain this to your fellow adventurers? still, as you start making your way towards your camp, you feel wonderfully relaxed - just not in a way you had expected.
// i hope you enjoyed reading this!! i certainly enjoyed writing it bc i was edging myself the whole time and now i'm absolutely soaked

is there anything that has happened since starting T that you didn't expect to happen? or that you feel you were not adequately informed about (by doctors, peers, etc), and that really should be more common knowledge?
that's such a great question, thank you for asking! that's a huge yes from me! here's what i experienced that i was definitely caught off guard by and not warned about that presented some challenges:
I was not told that because my body is changing, growing, and adjusting to a new balance in my endocrine system that i would be very exhausted for quite a while. i already have chronic fatigue but i basically struggled to get out of bed for about 2 weeks after starting T- i wasn't depressed, i was just exhausted. this is due to the fact that my muscles were becoming denser and rearranging themselves, my facial and body structure were changing, i was growing more hair, etc. that takes a lot of energy!
Similarly to the point above, no one told me that it would make you hungry as hell, and require you to eat a lot more. if you feel like you're "over eating" after just starting testosterone, you're probably not- your base caloric intake needs to increase because you are literally growing and changing, and also, high testosterone bodies tend to need more calories anyways
Body hair growth is ITCHY!!!! and sometimes even painful! growing hair in sensitive areas like your armpits, crotch and ass can be extremely uncomfortable if not painful at times. I've heard from even cis men who have told me that growing their ass hair was extremely painful and uncomfortable due to how that area is configured- if you find that hair growth is uncomfortable this is pretty normal, but always seek help if it becomes unbearable or you feel there are ingrown hairs. Also nose hair and ear hair become more of a thing, now
Testosterone will thicken your vocal cords and drop your voice, but you also have to teach yourself how to speak from your chest, or how to drop your voice to sit in a lower range naturally or else you will still sound pretty similar to your pre-transition voice, unless that is your goal. The effects are very strong, but many transmascs*, trans folk* etc. don't see as much change as they would if they also trained their voice at the same time while it's dropping
Your boobs will become flatter and sometimes smaller and a lot saggier. This is normal!
Whenever i re-start testosterone and when i started it for the first time, i had some pretty heavy menstrual periods for a while; sometimes your body reacts in the opposite way at first before totally stopping your periods altogether. it's almost like "rebound" symptom, if you know what that mean
Restless energy will very much become a thing, if you notice you're starting to get pissed off and can't place a finger on why you feel agitated and like you're going to explode, you might just need to do some physical activity for a while
that's all i could think of for now, but if i think of anything else, i'll be sure to add it to this post! thanks for asking, i hope this was informational! good luck out there in your journey!
