The IU-3 Billhook is, above all, a really bizarre mech. This was actually one of the first chassis designs produced by the PDR, a few months after they had already been facing down Purview teams, but it ain't your typical line mech. See, the Republic obviously can't outdo the Armory on quality or quantity in a straight up fight, so they got clever with these little bastards when a head on engagement was unavoidable. The first thing you'll notice is the giant tumorous growth of a shell hanging off the back. It's got a few minor hardpoints in it, along with a ton of reactive armor, enough to draw attention and make you assume it's a weakpoint that would cripple the machine if you took it out- but it's actually just an empty, detachable storage unit, only occasionally carrying some non-volatile supplies. The entire damn chassis is built like that, everything put in a weird place and disguised as something it isn't- even the joints have an annoyingly weird placement that makes maintenance a pain, but if that means offsetting the amount of bullets you have to pull out, I guess it's a win. Overall, it's substandard to even some outdated SP1 models, but with how cheap it is to build and how effective the gimmick can be, it sees a lot of use. That's just the thing, though, it's a gimmick. If the enemy knows what horseshit you're trying to pull, all you've done is bring a knife to a gun fight- so, usually, these things are the first units to see combat in any given conflict, and are outfitted for an alpha strike without regard to operating time or endurance. Single-shot weapons with fuck-off payloads, the works. On the high-mobility types that are built for repeated engagements, though, you've got a more standard loadout, and the storage unit gets filled to the brim with gyroscopes and reaction wheels alongside some crazy FCS that lets you get some damn good mileage out of the PD lasers in the antennae when you're up close.

Some of my assorted theories and headcanons about iterators:
In no particular order:
I think that overseers are all part of one large iterator organ rather than discrete individuals.
A microscopic, thread-like structure similar to mycelium can be found all throughout an iterator's surrounding complex. It spreads through tiny gaps in soil, rock, and metal. All the threads are connected directly to an iterator like a nervous system that extends far outside their cans.
Overseers are a bit like the fruiting bodies of a fungus; they're able to emerge from this network of threads via small holes in surfaces. Similar to nerve endings, they can collect stimuli about the outside world, and send signals down the threads similar to the way nerve impulses move down a nerve.
The majority of overseers are found on the outside of an iterator's can and in the surrounding area, becoming less common farther away. However, with some effort, an iterator can extend this network beyond the normal limits of their complex (seen in the fact that Seven Red Suns is able to send an overseer all the way over to Five Pebbles and Look's to the Moon's complex in order to follow Spearmaster).
Iterators have many more pearls than the ones seen in their puppet chambers.
I personally think data pearls are analogous to files on a computer, or maybe USB drives, which move data between systems. Given the fact that iterators are capable of running many different processes at once, it makes sense to assume that they have much more storage for data than the pearls that can be found in their chambers.
The majority of pearls an iterator uses are probably stored somewhere inaccessible in the game. However, the Light Yellow pearl can be found in Looks to the Moon's Memory Conflux, suggesting that pearls are used in that area as well. I believe iterators are able to access the data stored on pearls in their memory conflux without needing to bring them into their puppet chamber. If you bring the Light Yellow pearl to Moon, she remarks that it contains her personal notes, but suddenly forgets what they are about, and then asks you to put the pearl back where you found it. This suggests to me that moving the pearl from its intended location prevents Moon from accessing those memories.
Iterators are probably able to move pearls around the interior of their cans, most likely through the use of purposed organisms. These organisms can sort through pearls in storage and carry them from one location to another. I'm not sure what they look like, but I'm going to call them Couriers. They might be a distant relative of slugcats, albeit much more specialized. They might have appendages similar to a slugcat's arms for sorting through pearl caches, and are capable of storing pearls in their stomachs for transport. Couriers might move through a system of pipes and can deliver pearls directly to and from an iterator's puppet chamber. Kind of like getting your mail via pneumatic tube. Fwoop.
The pearls in an iterator's puppet chamber are likely there because they are actively using the information stored on it for some process, or they are altering the data stored on it. Pearls might be an equivalent to non-volatile computer memory (such as in a hard drive), used for long-term storage. Perhaps the data stored in pearls can only be altered by an iterator's puppet, so if they need to change something, the pearl needs to be transported to their chamber.
I also think that iterator puppets are analogous to a computer's I/O devices.
When you use a computer, you use a mouse and keyboard, and look at information on a screen. However, the actual computing takes place in the computer's processors. If you unplug the mouse, keyboard, and monitor from a computer, it can still compute just fine, but you as a user lose the ability to interact meaningfully with the data stored within. These peripherals are called Input/Output (or I/O) devices.
Similarly, an iterator is much more than their puppet; both their biological and mechanical processes are carried out in the larger superstructure as well as the outside area surrounding it. However, if their creators want to be able to utilize these processes, they need something to interact with: an I/O device. Similar to how a computer monitor turns ones and zeroes into pixels on a screen, iterator puppets communicate via body language and speech. Puppets can also observe and interpret things in their chamber, like how a keyboard and mouse interpret inputs from a user into information the computer can use.
Iterator puppets aren't perfectly analogous to a computer screen, however. I think the puppets (and the rooms surrounding the puppet chamber) also function similarly to a human brain, which is the most important part of the central nervous system. Obviously humans are much more than their brains, but they also can't function without them.
The rooms surrounding Moon's chamber are called the "Neural Terminus", which supports this theory. The analogous rooms in Five Pebbles are called the "General Systems Bus"; in computers the System Bus connects the major parts of a computer, allowing the CPU, memory, and I/O devices to communicate with each other. This supports the theory that puppets also function as I/O devices. The Neural Terminus and General Systems Bus serve very similar functions, but their different names probably reflect the differences in Five Pebbles' and Moon's construction. (Note: in Rivulet's campaign when Pebbles is overtaken with Rot, the General Systems Bus is replaced with the Primary Cortex, which sounds a lot more similar to Moon's Neural Terminus. I personally think that the General Systems Bus and Primary Cortex are next to or near each other in Pebbles' superstructure, but the Primary Cortex is inaccessible in earlier campaigns, and the General Systems Bus is blocked off by rot in Rivulet's campaign. They likely serve similar purposes.)
The music heard in the General Systems Bus/Neural Terminus is diegetic and reflects an iterator's thoughts and state of mind.
I made a post earlier about how Random Gods, the theme heard in Five Pebbles' General Systems Bus, is the sound of Five Pebbles performing a sorting algorithm. I was mostly joking, but I do think that theory holds some weight.
I've seen people theorize before that Random Gods is literally the sound of Five Pebbles thinking, and I really like that idea. It makes sense that you would hear it in the General Systems Bus, which is basically his brain. Similarly, Reflection of the Moon, which plays in Moon's Neural Terminus, is also the sound of Moon's thoughts.
Random Gods is cacophonous and frenetic, which I think reflects Pebbles' obsessive nature. Reflection of the Moon, on the other hand, is much more melodic, which I think represents how Moon is much more levelheaded. However, the sound of a ticking clock can also be heard, which I think represents the fear Moon feels about her imminent collapse. After she collapses, Reflection of the Moon becomes Moondown, which I also think is diegetic. It reflect's Moon's severely damaged state and her inability to function or think like she was able to before.
I think every iterator has a unique theme that plays in their General Systems Bus (or the equivalent), which reflects their personality, thoughts, and state of mind.
My iterator oc, Three Stars Above Clouds, was built primarily to collect astronomical data, and they spend most of their time sifting through this data and analyzing it. Because of this, I think their analogue to Random Gods would be fast paced but repetitive, representing their ability to process a lot of data at once, and performing repetitive analyses on it extremely quickly.
I heard the song "The Dream Is Always The Same" by Tangerine Dream recently, and I think it captures the feeling I was thinking about. TSAC's Random Gods equivalent probably sounds very similar to this, with repetitive synths as they access files over and over and over.

Technical details: Their name is actually a misnomer, as a single Bytefolk takes up the entirety of a 3.5-inch floppy disk, or 1,474,560 bytes. Non-corrupted Bytefolk have exactly 7 segments, being the head, chest, waist, left hand, right hand, left foot, and right foot, though corrupted Bytefolk can have duplicates of these parts in any position. Bytefolk are restricted to only using 2 colors normally, being black and a variable outline color. When corrupted, they might have colorful artefacts though. Bytefolk can have any accessories, as long as they're made up of straight lines. Storing a Bytefolk on a floppy disk or magnetic tape is a bad idea, as those storage mediums are volatile to magnet-based corruption and can cause mutations.

the space is a suite of 3 connected rooms — one is a bedroom, with 3 beds equidistant along the far wall. one is empty except for a veritable mountain of decorated crates stacked halfway up to the several-dozen-meter-high ceiling in one corner. and the biggest is some kind of lounge or toy storage room; a messy half-stocked shelf spans the far wall in front of two large sofas
speaking of large, all the objects are larger than life. the boxes in the box room are almost as big as a person. the bed mattresses are at eye level and seem to be made for giants. and the sofas too require climbing to get up onto. the toy rocking horse is bigger than an actual horse
an individual sits on the chair in the toy storage room. you've gathered that her name is kleio, but any other questions or remarks are met with good-natured non-answers like one would give to a babbling child, reinforced with an imperative to clean your room. she doesn't seem to have interest in saying anything else until that's done, and emphasizes that you don't want this place to still be messy "when mother comes by later"

the space seems to defy logic, with walls and floors and structures sticking out at odd angles without pattern. if that and the giant, unpredictable gaps, bridges, and chasms didn't already make it difficult to navigate, it's very dark in most areas too. torch might work well here if you have it, or something similar perhaps?
next to where you first found yourselves, there's some sort of large, pale stacked casement with four compartments. it looks like it once held things. in fact, pinned to one of the edges are a few sheets of paper clipped together detailing an itinerary of four objects. there's a note written in big, bold lettering at the bottom of the top sheet: IF ANY ARE MISSING, RETRIEVE IMMEDIATELY. INTEGRITY OF HOUSE IS AT STAKE. MIND EACH περιέργεια'S INDIVIDUAL TEMPERAMENT. well.

Aside from the weekend here, Apollyon Ouranos will mostly be driven by the players unless otherwise stated. You will have tasks to complete throughout the week, with the final degree of success determined by the post-based mechanics detailed above. However, you are not limited in the content of your post. Ex. " 1 box moved per post " is simply a metric for the mechanic, and does not mean you have to literally write your muse moving a box over and over, unless you want to. Creativity in the interpretation of roll results is likewise welcome.
Reaching 0 HP this week does not result in death, and should instead be treated as a knock-out or getting too injured to keep fighting. If there are any enemies encountered, they are ( probably ) not trying to kill you. It can still definitely be treated as serious, but should not be assumed to mean death.
Team Tau's Google Doc is linked here, and pinned in your team channel. Due to the nature of this event, logging and recording your thread's events and results is mandatory, much like combat docs during Arena. Each thread should have at least one person willing to do this, and this will be checked at the end of each week. It is similarly highly encouraged to keep abreast of what is going on with others in the team as well in order to get the fullest picture of the event story.
Though there is currently no time limit rule, keep in mind that this is an event where mechanical progression directly correlates with activity. Shorter posts are encouraged to maintain momentum. Members are encouraged to shift post order, skip, etc. amongst themselves to their good judgment. If needed, Mod Rai reserves the right to make sure threads are moving at a reasonable pace.
Perhaps most importantly, aim for activity and building meaningful interactions over winning your objective. Even if your team does poorly ic at their objective, as long as you played according to your character and were engaged in what was happening, that's all that matters. Certain story events may change depending on ic results, and your characters' choices and actions will influence things even if it may not be immediately obvious. But ic failure will still progress the story, and possibly in a more compelling way than a success. Try to avoid focusing on " playing the game right ".

Different, yet the same au
this is an au where the survivors are all inhuman shape shifters but think everyone else is human and are trying to hide their inhumanness.
They are why the uncanny valley exists, they hunt humans by using what's called aggressive mimicry, essentially pretending to be a human to get close to one. Like the ant mimic spider, they act and look like humans then lure one away from the group and eat them.
But then civilisations began to make mass amounts of food and so it because easier to just steal from them. they still eat humans occasionally, for health reasons.

They used to hunt in large packs, but has humanity got more and more aware of their surroundings, it became harder to find people of their own species without getting caught themselves.
When the age of the internet appeared they went from near threatened (A near threatened species is one that is likely to qualify for a threatened category in the near future.) to Endangered (less than 250 mature individuals in the wild, or in this case, worldwide.) in the last 30 years.
They're only saving grace was that humans forgot about them. Mostly...
So many have never met others not of they're family group that most colonies assume that they are the last ones. Nick barley even HAD a colony.
That's where the government comes in, they have secret files on these guys, and believe that there is a lot more of them then there actually is.
They have killed colonies before, framing them as cults or kidnappers (which to be fair they do do that.) Including Nick's colony. But as long as the shapeshifters look like humans, they will never be weeded out by humans.
So the government develops a flu like sickness that will ignore humans and target the shifters directly. Because this isn't my mimic infected au I think you can guess how this goes.
The virus, that only had shape-shifter DNA that was in storage for 20 years to go off of mind you, imminently jumps to humans because there are far more of them and they made it WAY too volatile.
The original idea was to make a virus that spread so quick the predators would die without any survivors and the virus would fizzle out without new hosts. Now they had the opposite of what they wanted. A just as deadly virus that targets humans instead and makes them attack each other.
Of course the shifters don't know this, all they know is that there is a zombie virus and a rampant military and they are stuck in the middle.
They eventually figure it out that they're all the same species, one group before the other (but I won't tell you who yet >=) Until then, this will be the hijinks that come from hiding inhumanness from other non humans.

ok i've actually been thinking about this a Decent Bit. passively rotating pule. so HERE
the first vibes i ever got about the Meat appearing were 1. vampirism and 2. meat as Energy Storage. needless to say i don't think pule's abilities work the same as canon nidus'. i think pule's abilities would require a mix of (not necessarily the same quantity of) regular warframe energy & mutation energy, if not outright just the mutation energy. love the funky warframes in canon that already say energy Whomst. the stomp still works the same, for the tentacle thing on his 2 he has to throw one of the seed pods from his friendolier, and just throw Way More for his 4. mutation stacks + energy in general are needed for regrowing Friend Seeds.
helminth strain & the infestation in general does some Fucky Wucky things with life & meat and tbh i don't feel like figuring out that exact link right now so i'm just gonna. leave that There. but i do have notes on other things
the Extra Meat does decay over time bc of Entropy - it just dissipates over time bc Shrug. it's a bit volatile, not very stable.
he Gets the energy still by killing enemies i think, or otherwise forcing a link to drain the life out of them - haven't played him recently but i think that's pretty directly how one of his abilities works? the conversion rate from A Whole Being's Life Force to Meat Stacks is pretty shit which is why he needs to eat many before he can do much with the energy he's gained. could he use this to be a giant dick in non-combat settings? perhaps but i don't think he would just bc of his Personality, not even if it was... worst-case scenario, some grineer leader in negotiations?
one additional funny thing is. you can't just energy-vampirism your way through a battlefield and grow a whole layer of meat on you without Mental Consequences. and i'm talking the helminth infestation on him gaining sentience the higher his mutation stacks get, or perhaps voices of the souls he sucked up whole. maybe both. the higher his mutation stacks get, the harder it is to remain in control. it does have an advantage - the helminth has some Good Instincts about combat and is generally ruthless & very scary & does recognise warframes as allies (humans, though?). and the specific effect this has on pule is not just "pule vs the helminth in his head" but more along the lines of "pule IS the helminth and he just gets a little feral on the battlefield, might want to stay a bit out of his way". you try & talk to him but he's dazed, distracted, wanting to just keep going and kill more shit. at a high enough point he will holster his guns and just go with the claws (it is a crying shame that almost no warframes get to just rip shit apart with their bare hands)
due to the entropic nature of these energy-meats he does calm down pretty quickly once extracted from combat. the physical battle does tire him out as normal but if he got particularly high stacks he might also be mentally tired/get a headache afterwards.
he doesn't like getting Fully out of control but a little bit is Definitely Fun & Certainly Useful.
funny contrast now that i'm writing this out is also. where vince is a liability in direct combat bc he's just Bad at it, pule is a liability in combat because he gets Too Good at it.
