Suddenly hyperfixated on TNUtB and decided to do headcanons for my favorite sfth kids!!
John "Johnny" Evans
Look, being able to see the future at a somewhat young age can be fucking traumatizing, of course he's gonna be less emotionally mature than his younger sibling
That one off mention of this sixth sense being genetic but also being two completely different powers in the two occasions we see it (For Johnny it's future dreams and for Jack [<- their father because I think he doesn't have a name] it's sort of like. Spidey sense if that makes sense [haha, sense]) leads me to headcanon that the sixth sense isn't future dreams/visions specifically, but being more connected with space and time.
Johnny got the sixth sense much earlier than he was supposed to. It manifested when he was around 13. It's terrifying yet super fucking cool to just be able to see the future. But at the same time, he did have a future dream about part of the school collapsing because of its lack of solid foundation. This is how he learned that what happens in a future dream will happen. Like a fucked up version of Murphy's law
There is a small chance that his future dream ends up being wrong because of a shift in the timeline. He once had a dream that half of Somerset was burnt down. This was supposed to be true. Not until the change in timeline by BD and The Spirit of Somerset
Sleep talks. Takes on different voices depending on who's in his dream. You cannot convince me otherwise
Johnny is trans. Thank you for coming to ny Ted talk--
Janae Evans
I was full on panicking with what Janae's gender is so. Non-binary Janae???
"But dvmm13!! Janae's a child!!" Janae's also got the internet, goddamn it. They're smart enough to fully understand things and themself
Despite being much smarter than everyone else in their class, they're actually pretty popular. Take that, introverted/bullied nerd stereotype!
They're actually quite the chatterbox. Give them a topic and they'll tell you all about it-- they could ramble on for hours on end (ESPECIALLY if it's a topic they like)
Tutors students around their age or older than them. You can never convince me otherwise. This is canon to me
Actually fucking terrified of Johnny's powers. I mean, woah, sci-fi/fantasy territory, it's really cool when written but abso-fucking-lutely terrifying when you genuinely think about it
General:
They're related to Egburt's wife. Like, she and Egburt are their great great grandparents, therefore explaining the powers
"But dvmm13!! Only the women of the family have this power!!" To that I say: yes, it's supposed to only be passed down to the women of the family, but Jack got the sixth sense because of a small genetic mutation.

Hey!!!! My prompt is a murphamy headcannon or fic with non-binary Murphy. Thank you!
Okay I wrote SO MUCH and it all DELETED ITSELF when I was writing it, so I'm sorry if this isn't that good.
Also, I apologize this is more just Non-binary Murphy in general, and less Murphamy... There's obviously Murphamy.. its just not mentioned much because idk how to incorporate it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They had no idea what they were until one day someone mentioned "Non-Binary" and they were like "Oh Shit."
After that they never told anyone but they had picked out a name they'd rather be called and started calling themselves it in their head, the name being JM.
Finn was the first to hear about it.
It was during that time before Tondc where they were both alone.
"Alright, Man this is what we're going to do"
"Can you STOP Calling me that?"
JM didn't MEAN to snap it just kind of happened.
Finn is like surprised but stops calling them that immediately.
"Uh.. what's wrong, Murphy?"
"I just... I'm Non-Binary and id rather you not call me 'man'"
It Didn't end up being a big deal since like a half an hour later Finn killed 18 people.
They hid it from everyone else in Arkadia after Finn died.
JM tried to ignore the pain being called He and Him caused them.
The first person to know after that was Abby.
Abby had noticed they were flinching
"Hey, John, is Something wrong? I've seen you flinch every time someone talks about you."
"it's just... I'm non-binary and I dont like it when people call me he/him."
Abby is absolutely so supportive
Abby 100% uses 'JM' to start referring to them.
But only in private since JM isn't ready to come out yet.
JM soon went to Abby about anything they needed.
So its no surprise when they come to her for some advice on them liking Bellamy.
Abby tells JM that they should tell Bellamy before they get together.
And they were gonna tell him, they were!
But it just... Happened so fast.
and it was okay for a time!
Until one night Bellamy calls them "Baby Boy" and they start crying.
JM didn't mean to start crying.
It just happened
And Bellamy was terrified because he didnt know what he did wrong.
That's when JM realizes they can't hide it anymore.
They explain being non-binary to Bellamy, and Bellamy tries his best to understand.
Bellamy is so supportive.
He encourages JM to come out, but only if they want to.
So, JM comes out
And there's a few people who aren't the most supportive
But most are
Bellamy is the one who corrects everyone 24/7
If someone purposely Misgenders JM then Bellamy is absolutely PISSED.
Bellamy is the only one who calls them 'J' and he'll Sometimes even call them 'JJ'.
When it's JM's Dysphoric days Bellamy will lay with them and compliment them in ways that aren't gendered. (Unless JM wants to be gendered in some ways since Non-binary people can exist in many ways other than 'Genderless')
JM will grow out their hair to about shoulder length
They'll also ask Clarke to teach them how to dye their hair
Bellamy will help brush and Cut JM's hair.
JM finds a way to 'paint' their nails. Which Bellamy helps with Sometimes.
I'm sorry idk what else to add lol.
I hope this was okay!
Okay, but, like Trans Jasper Jordan helping Non-Binary John Murphy learn more about gender and sexuality and that there’s more than just cis and trans and gay and straight.
Jasper caught him in the school library one day, surrounded with books, all about gender and sexuality. He’s obviously having trouble reading, that’s not a surprise, Jasper knows he has trouble reading, but it’s a surprise that he’s bothering to read anything that’s not absolutely mandatory and isn’t a comic.
Jasper asks Murphy what he’s doing and he practically jumps up, eyes going wide as the sky. starting to stutter out an excuse, saying it’s not what it looks like, he has an explanation, before finally crumbling and just asking him not to tell anyone.
He sits down across from Murphy, on the outside of his circle of books.
“Murphy, I’m trans, I get it. You didn’t out me before I was ready and I’m not gonna out you.”
“I’m not trans.”
“Okay.”
“I’m just.....”
“Not sure?”
“Yeah.”
So Jasper helps him read some of the books, throws some of the books behind him and tells him not to bother with them because they’re trash.
“You’ve read them before?”
“Yeah.”
“I thought you always knew you were trans?”
“I always knew I was a boy. I didn’t know the terminology or anything. I wanted to know more, not just about being trans, but about other genders, too. It’s one of the only things I can read a whole book about without getting bored.”
And they talk about it.
Jasper tells him when he first realized he was a boy and how he told his parents and how they were confused but accepting and how he decided to have SRS and how he was bullied so him and his parents moved and he was scared at first that it would just be the same thing in a new place but no one knew him before and they just assumed he was cis and sometimes it was scary, worrying if people were going to find out, and hard, not being able to admit who he really was, but then he found friends, like Murphy and Monty and Bellamy and Octavia, who were all accepting of him.
Murphy tells him that he doesn’t feel like a boy, but he doesn’t feel like a girl, either, he never really thought there was a difference and he doesn’t feel like he fits in with either. He tells him how he looks to wear makeup and skirts, but he also likes to wear jeans and loose shirts and he doesn’t really feel like either gender but he also feels like both genders and it confuses him and he knows his other friends will accept him but he’s still afraid to tell them.
Jasper tells him it’s completely normal, there’s nothing wrong with not identifying as just one gender and it’s completely normal to be worried about the way people will react, he was, too.
And, just, Trans Jasper Jordan and Non-Binary John Murphy being supportive friends to each other and genuinely loving and accepting each other.
/// Inspired by @cosmo-k-i-d ‘s approval of my Murphy headcanon and introducing me to the wonders of Jasper being trans. ///
I've been thinking a lot about an au made by @eclipsewarrior101 called: The Owl Lady, Good Wittebane and The Plant Lady and I have songs that reminded me of a few characters and pairs.
Dollhouse by Melanie Martinez and
Strangers Like Me by Tarzan (Phil Collins)
Terra Snapdragon:
Dear Theodosia by Hamilton (Lin-Manuel Miranda and Leslie Odom Jr.)
I Will Be There by The Count of Mounte Cristo (Thomas Borchert) (wonder with who...) and
As The World Caves In by Matt Maltese (Oh my god not Disney or a musical/movie how dare me)
Raine Whispers:
Come Little Children or I put a spell on you by Hocus Pocus
If you are bisexual you HAVE to be attracted to men and women. You absolutely have to. You cannot say that you are bisexual because you are attracted to men and non-binary people alone. You cannot say you are bisexual because you are attracted to women and non-binary people alone. To insinuate that non-binary people are a third gender catagory goes against what it means to not identify with the binary. All sexualities include attraction to non-binary people on an individual basis. Also, stop using the Latin definition of “bi” to limit the historical fluidity of our attraction. We have never liked “2+ genders”, we are limitless:
“…the very wealth and humanity of bisexuality itself: for to exclude from one’s love any entire group of human beings because of class, age, or race or religion, or sex, is surely to be poorer — deeply and systematically poorer.”
— Kate Miller (1974)
“It’s easier, I believe, for exclusive heterosexuals to tolerate (and that’s the word) exclusive homosexuals than [bisexuals] who, rejecting exclusivity, sleep with people not genders…”
— Martin Duberman (1974)
“Margaret Mead in her Redbook magazine column wrote an article titled ‘Bisexuality: What’s It All About?’ in which she cited examples of bisexuality from the distant past as well as recent times, commenting that writers, artists, and musicians especially ‘cultivated bisexuality out of a delight with personality, regardless of race or class or sex.’”
— Janet Bode, “From Myth to Maturation,” View From Another Closet: Exploring Bisexuality in Women (1976)
“Being bisexual does not mean they have sexual relations with both sexes but that they are capable of meaningful and intimate involvement with a person regardless of gender.”
— Janet Bode, “The Pressure Cooker,” View From Another Closet (1976)
“[John] reacted emotionally to both sexes with equal intensity. ‘I love people, regardless of their gender,’ he told me.”
— Charlotte Wolff, “Early Influences,” Bisexuality, a Study (1979)
“J: Are we ever going to be able to define what bisexuality is?
S: Never completely. That’s just it — the variety of lifestyles that we see between us defies definition.”
— “Conversations,” Bi Women: The Newsletter of the Boston Bisexual Women’s Network (1984)
“Bisexuality, however, is a valid sexual experience. While many gays have experienced bisexuality as a stage in reaching their present identity, this should not invalidate the experience of people for whom sexual & affectional desire is not limited by gender. For in fact many bisexuals experience lesbianism or homosexuality as a stage in reaching their sexual identification.
— Megan Morrison, “What We Are Doing,” Bi Women (1984)
“In the midst of whatever hardships we [bisexuals] had encountered, this day we worked with each other to preserve our gift of loving people for who they are regardless of gender.”
— Elissa M., “Bi Conference,” Bi Women (1985)
“I believe that people fall in love with individuals, not with a sex… I believe most of us will end up acknowledging that we love certain people or, perhaps, certain kinds of people, and that gender need not be a significant category, though for some of us it may be.”
— Ruth Hubbard, “There Is No ‘Natural’ Human Sexuality, Bi Women (1986)
“I am bisexual because I am drawn to particular people regardless of gender. It doesn’t make me wishy-washy, confused, untrustworthy, or more sexually liberated. It makes me a bisexual.”
— Lani Ka’ahumanu, “The Bisexual Community: Are We Visible Yet?” (1987)
“To be bisexual is to have the potential to be open emotionally and sexually to people as people, regardless of their gender.”
— Office Pink Publishing, “Introduction,” Bisexual Lives (1988)
“We made signs and slashes. My favorite read, ‘When it’s love in all its splendor, it doesn’t matter what the gender.’”
— Beth Reba Weise, “Being There and Being Bi: The National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights,” Bi Women (1988)
“…bisexual usually also implies that relations with gender minorities are possible.”
— Thomas Geller, Bisexuality: a Reader and Sourcebook (1990)
“Many objections have been raised to the use of [“bisexual”], the most common being that it emphasizes two things that, paradoxically, bisexuals are the least likely to be involved with: the dualistic separation of male and female in society, and the physical implications of the suffix ‘-sexual’.”
— Thomas Geller, Bisexuality: a Reader and Sourcebook (1990)
“Bisexuality is a whole, fluid identity. Do not assume that bisexuality is binary or duogamous in nature: that we have ‘two’ sides or that we must be involved simultaneously with both genders to be fulfilled human beings. In fact, don’t assume that there are only two genders.”
— The Bay Area Bisexual Network, “The 1990 Bisexual Manifesto,” Anything That Moves (1990)
“Bisexuality works to subvert the gender system and everything it upholds because it is not based on gender… Bisexuality subverts gender; bisexual liberation also depends on the subversion of gender categories.”
— Karin Baker and Helen Harrison, “Letters,” Bi Women (1990)
“I tell them, whether or not I use the word ‘bisexual,’ that I am proud of being able to express my feelings toward a person, regardless of gender, in whatever way I desire.”
— Naomi Tucker, “What’s in a Name?”, Bi Any Other Name (1991)³
“Some women who call themselves ‘bisexual’ insist that the gender of their lover is irrelevant to them, that they do not choose lovers on the basis of gender.”
— Marilyn Murphy, “Thinking About Bisexuality,” Bi Women (1991)
“As bisexuals, we are necessarily prompted to come up with non-binary ways of thinking about sexual orientation. For many of us, this has also prompted a move toward non-binary ways of thinking about sex and gender.”
— Rebecca Kaplan, “Your Fence Is Sitting on Me: The Hazards of Binary Thinking,” Bisexual Politics (1995)
“I’m bi. That simply means I can be attracted to a person without consideration of their gender.”
— E. Grace Noonan, “Out on the Job: DEC Open to Bi Concerns,” Bi Women (1996)
Staff Picks: Top Quarantine Albums
Feeling the quarantine blues? Check out the WMUA staff picks for their top albums!
Nina (Programmer) - Sawayama (Rina Sawayama, 2020)
Tumblr media
I was counting down the days to this album from the moment it was announced. Rina’s sound is texturally rich, and here she offers a multitude of genres, from heavy metal to synthpop. The high notes in some of these songs are really impressive, and the timbre of her voice is lovely. Sawayama is proof of her excellent craftsmanship and willingness to take risks.
Top tracks: “Dynasty”, “Who’s Gonna Save U Now?”, “Tokyo Love Hotel”
John (Finance Director) - Whole Lotta Red (Playboi Carti, 2020)
Tumblr media
Despite coming out in the last week of 2020, this was still my second most listened to album of the entire year, so I had to pick it. People love to hate this for some reason but I think Carti delivered a great follow up to the instant classic that was Die Lit.
Top tracks: “Rockstar Made”, “ILoveUIhateU”, “Slay3r”
Andy (News Operator) - This Is Happening (LCD Soundsystem, 2010)
Tumblr media
One of the things I miss most right now is dancing: the rush of euphoria and that feeling of being caught up in the moment. This album has helped me fill that void. The song writing is top notch, the melodies are addictive, and frontman James Murphy’s lyrics are often just as catchy as they are relatable.
Top tracks: “Dance Yrself Clean”, “I Can Change”, “Home”
Judge (Technical Director) - Mena (Javiera Mena, 2010)
Tumblr media
Coming from a similar place as Andy, without a doubt my most listened to record since COVID began is Javiera Mena’s second record, Mena. It’s pop sugar injected straight into the bloodstream. It’s jumping into a dark river with your lover. In more literal terms, Mena is nine tracks of emotional dance pop perfection with peaks and valleys of energy, hooks to fill your storage unit with, and a loving, freeing spirit.
Top tracks: “Primera estrella”, “El amanecer”, “Luz de piedra de luna”
Zoe (Communications Music Director) - Stillness In Wonderland (Little Simz, 2017)
Tumblr media
Little Simz has a sound that many have tried to conquer but very few have mastered. This jazz-rap album takes you through the inner workings of the artist’s fantasy world, and she paints a stunning picture. Between the high quality production and the well-articulated verses, one can’t help but to get sucked in and appreciate her artistry. Not to mention, this album has insane collaborators (BADBADNOTGOOD, Syd and Chronixx just to name a few).
Top tracks: “Picture Perfect”, “Shotgun”, “One In Rotation + Wide Awake”
Bonnie (News Editor) - Hypersonic Missiles (Sam Fender, 2019)
Tumblr media
I first listened to the single with the same name as the album and loved it. I was immediately drawn to the lyrics and his voice. The lyrics can resonate with so much of our generation, those who feel disconnected from the rest of the world and realize the horrors out there. The songs on this album can be felt by all of us as we go about our lives.
Top Tracks: “Hypersonic Missiles,” “Saturday,” “Leave Fast”
Melissa (Public Relations Director) - Who Am I? (Pale Waves, 2021)
Tumblr media
Harkening back to the early 2000s goth-pop, this album may remind you of Avril Lavigne’s Let Go, so I obviously had to choose it. This album dives into personal awakenings and being your true self. Since their first album, lead singer Heather Barron-Tracy came out publicly and their drummer Ciara Doran announced they are non-binary, providing inspiration for their new album. Who Am I? has been called “a candid portrayal of queer love”.
Top Tracks: “Change”
There are coins and seals and lots of jibber jabber about High Table manners and then “Game of Thrones” star Jerome Flynn shows up as a Bronn-like business type who’s a bit too greedy for his own good (it’s hard to tell what accent Flynn is doing here, but he’s most definitely doing it). When the bullets fly, Sofia’s very Der Prinz aus Zamunda 2 lend a valuable assist, and Stahelski has to open things up in order to frame the dogs as they chew on fresh corpses. The sequence is very “John Wick” and horribly terrific in a hand-over-your-mouth kind of way; it does more than any of the tossed-off business with the Bowery King (Laurence Fishburn) or the Continental Hotel owner (Ian McShane) to whet our appetites for another adventure. Anjelica Huston is also somewhat wasted as the matriarch of a Harlem ballet academy with ties to Wick’s past, but her scenes are so immaculately shot that you’re willing to let it slide. In a film that plays fast and loose with NYC geography, all is forgiven by turning 175th street’s United Palace into the “Tarkovsky Theater,” where people are trained to be killers in between performances of “Swan Lake.” The film’s world-building works best in small doses. A meeting in the middle of the desert is a total dead end, whereas all sorts of fun details can be inferred from Stahelski’s frequent cutaways to the High Table nerve center, where dozens of tattooed and lip-glossed workers monitor Wick’s bounty with an old-fashioned switchboard (imagine a SuicideGirls reboot of “Mad Men” and you’ll have the right idea). Non-binary “Billions” star Asia Kate Dillon plays a stiff and slinky High Table adjudicator who’s covered in Thierry Mugler coture; part referee and part femme fatale, their performance speaks to an underworld that’s sustained by a mutual respect for all people so long as they don’t shoot the wrong target. While this franchise is starting to feel a bit long in the tooth, such details suggest that screenwriter Derek Kolstad (here sharing credit with three other scribes) can still mine this world for plenty of new life, so long as future installments find a way to deepen the John Wick mythos instead of just stretching it out. With the significant exception of “Mission: Impossible,” this is easily the best action franchise Hollywood has going these days, and it would be great for it to keep going with renewed focus. The fact that Keanu Reeves is nearing 60 won’t matter to his fans. For one thing, the man is seemingly ageless. For another, retirement no longer seems like a realistic option for a guy who still gets recognized everywhere he goes. It doesn’t matter if you’re a Hollywood star or a $14 million bounty — fame can be a difficult thing to shake. It’s a work-or-die world, and being forgotten is neither on the table nor under it
Water That Destroys
by ApplyWaterToThatSlowBurn
There is a municipality in Oaxaca Mexico named for the Nahuatl meaning “water that destroys”, but when you care for nothing, what could truly be destroyed? Bond is about to find out. Bond? In a The 100 fanfic? Oh sorry, that's Clarke Bond.
00 Agent Clarke Bond is sent to figure out who eliminated an off-duty agent on holiday in Oaxaca, Mexico. There she meets Dr. Lexa Woods, a university professor and the last known contact of the murdered agent. What happens next? Bond shit. Gadgets. Explosions. Sex. Luxury vehicles (being destroyed). Improbable escapes. Monologues from villains who would be better off just killing Clarke Bond but don't and then get fucked up. Settings in beautiful Oaxaca, Mexico!
As always, excuse the wine-fueled typos.
Seeing if there's interest in this? I'm a huge fan of two things 1) James Bond, both Fleming's novels and the films and the gorgeous city and state of Oaxaca, Mexico. Bond is my problematic fave AND UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS A TOXIC MASCULINITY INSIDE A COLONIAL NIGHTMARE WRAPPER. This is Clarke Bond...BECAUSE THIS IS A MOTHERFUCKIN' JAMES BOND THE 100 AU FEVER DREAM, BABY!!!
Shoutout to anyone who points out the Bond easter eggs (books and films) in the comments :)
OFF-TOPIC: All the Rage
Tumblr media
Dave Chappelle has just released his latest stand-up special on Netflix, Sticks & Stones.  This stand-up special comes after four other comedy specials that have been beleaguered with criticism over Chappelle’s material about the LGBTQ+ community, particularly transgender people, and about the women who accused Louis CK of sexual misconduct.  And Sticks & Stones has attracted just as much controversy as any of Chappelle’s other Netflix specials if not more.
And that’s by design.
youtube
The special opens up with this quote from Kendrick Lamar’s “DNA”
Tell me somethin’ / You mothafuckas can’t tell me nothin’ / I’d rather die than to listen to you…
In Sticks & Stones, Dave Chappelle sets himself up as some kind of defiant martyr fighting the good fight against so-called “cancel culture” or any moral busybodies who get offended by any jokes he or any of his other comedian friends might have told at any point.  Many of those who express praise and enthusiasm towards Sticks & Stones defend it on similar grounds, writing off any criticism of it as people being “too sensitive”, “offended”, and “trying to cancel Dave Chappelle”.
Enough dancing around the subject.  I found the special really tired and juvenile.  What he’s doing here is thumbing his nose at any critic who had dared to take issue with anything he has said in his prior Netflix special in a way that eschews the thoughtfulness that Chappelle is capable of for petulance.  That might have been okay if it was funny regardless, but I didn’t think it was.  A better version of what Chappelle tried to do here was more than 30 years ago, in Eddie Murphy: Raw.  Eddie Murphy opened up this special complaining about criticism he got for his last special from Mr. T, Michael Jackson, and the gay community with much funnier jokes.  The crescendo of this bit was his brilliant story of Bill Cosby calling him on the phone to browbeat him about his foul language.
A bunch of the critics praising Sticks & Stones are calling it revelatory and a breath of fresh air in this moment of time.  Really?  All this is is Chappelle’s version of “PC gone mad” in response to criticism, which is not a novel concept.  Carlos Mencia’s whole shtick 15 years ago was to crack jokes using racial stereotypes and then spend the next ten minutes guilt tripping the audience into laughing by expressing faux-martyrdom aggrievement over “political correctness” or “sensitivity”.  This is as cliche a comedy staple as “take my wife, please”.  Other comedians who have gone this exact same angle include Jerry Seinfeld, Roseanne Barr, Larry the Cable Guy, Ricky Gervais, Bill Maher, Chris Rock, Andrew Dice Clay, Lil Duval, Jim Norton, Patrice O’Neal, Nick DaPaolo, Joe Rogan, Doug Stanhope, Rob Schneider, Lisa Lampanelli, Eddie Griffin, John Cleese, George Carlin, Aziz Ansari, Sarah Silverman, DL Hughley, Tracy Morgan, Adam Carolla, Amy Schumer, Tim Allen, Aries Spears, Russell Peters, Redd Foxx, Dennis Miller, Mike Epps, Patton Oswalt, Jeff Dunham, Sam Kinison, and Louis CK just to name a few.
Despite this being a cliche, I think taking the angle Dave Chappelle took here is more expedient for himself than ever.  A part of the reason is because our society has become more politically polarizing than ever.  A lot of the discourse around Sticks & Stones falls along politically partisan lines (yes, I know that includes myself too).  Most of the people defending Dave Chappelle so ardently are right-wing pundits/publications like Breitbart, Dana Loesch, and Gavin McInnes and most of the people criticizing Chappelle are liberal/pro-LGBTQ+ publications.  Chappelle and his defenders are using this special as a denouncing of “cancel culture”.  I hate that term and I hate the framing around it even more because it’s so vaguely defined other than the fact that it’s nakedly partisan.  The screeds against “cancel culture” are not so subtle digs at the left and reinforce a narrative that the left wants to censor everything and that the right are the true defenders of free speech and free expression.  It’s weird that the “cancel culture” designation never applies when the right-wing gets upset about Nike, Gillette, or Keurig coffee makers.
I think a better name for all of this is “outrage culture” and it’s nonpartisan.  So much of our public discourse is handled on social media, particularly Twitter, that rewards shorter and more attention-grabbing hot takes over lengthy, nuanced analysis.  And one of the easiest ways to grab attention is by being outrageous or inflammatory.  In response, online publications of all political stripes write their headlines in inflammatory ways that grab attention in order to be shared on social media.  Even if the actual article has more nuance to it, most people don’t read past the splashy headline anyway.  In regards to politics, it has further defined people, whatever their personal views may be, in reaction to what they aren’t or what they disagree with.  It’s partially why so many people have blamed things like the 2016 Ghostbusters film or Star Wars: The Last Jedi as the reason they voted for Trump or why they’ll vote for Trump again.  It’s also why so many of the people praising Sticks & Stones so zealously have attempted to use it as a rallying cry for Trump and Trumpism.  This also goes for any liberals who expressed a desire to buy Nikes or Gillette razors after the right-wing meltdown over them.
Sticks & Stones was a rallying cry to anybody that has defined themselves or their politics to being anti-politically correct (which isn’t only right-wingers, but largely encompasses right-wingers) to look to Dave Chappelle as a hero to wrap themselves around.  I felt the same way about Louis CK’s stand-up “comeback” where he mocked school shooting survivors, millenials, and non-binary kids.  CK was hugely popular on college campuses and liberal crowds despite never being “politically correct”.  He was also often very thoughtful in the way he towed that fine line when tackling touchy subjects.  But in light of his sexual misconduct scandal, he must have figured that he permanently burned a bridge with that crowd so he pivoted to a crowd that doesn’t care that he sexually harassed multiple women.  This same crowd also tends not to think too highly of the Parkland shooting survivors for their gun control activism or trans and non-binary people.
The thing is, Dave Chappelle and Louis CK don’t give a damn about any of these right-wingers or their pro-Trump causes.  They’re just looking out for number one.  Breitbart wouldn’t write fawning articles about Chappelle if the focus was on him expressing discomfort over a white person’s laughter over a blackface sketch he was doing on his show.  They wouldn’t rally around Louis CK either if he was still telling jokes expressing confusion as to why women would want to date men based off violence against women statistics.  Conversely, Nike and Gillette don’t actually give a damn about putting an end to police brutality or toxic masculinity.  If they were to discover that they could make more money off of using “Blue Lives Matter” sentiment or objectifying women, they would do it in a heartbeat.  This is all this whole shit is.
I suppose that’s ultimately the joke in all of this.  I don’t find it very funny, but I suppose I’m just too sensitive, right?
small foreign faction
by maunwocha
It aches somewhere inside, a painful scrape of metal, when Jasper’s worlds overlap like that. Sky Box becomes Dropship becomes Mt. Weather becomes Earth until all these different lives Jasper has seen in his sixteen years blend together in a chaotic burst and he has to squeeze his eyes shut tight or it’ll pop right out of his head.
Three months have passed since Monty, Bellamy, and Clarke killed everyone inside Mount Weather, including Maya. That’s how Jasper has been thinking about the event and its actors in his head, in order of how pissed he is at them; Monty the least, and Clarke the most.
//
Canon-divergent, season 3 rewrite. What if Bellamy stayed behind at Mount Weather? What if Murphy took ALIE's chip? What if Jasper and the surviving delinquents formed a microsociety? What if Miller wasn't a cop? What if Grounders have developed cultures? Very slow burn Murphamy, character development & plot-based
