Power Rangers Dino Charge: End of Season Review

So I thought making reviews for every Power Rangers season that I've seen would be fun! (And I'm ignoring the physics lab report I have to do lmao)

Don't really expect anyone to read this but eh this is for fun

Fave Character: Prince Phillip III of Zandar. He's my little bitch babygirl <3

Fave Ship: Chiley!!! Green/black ships my beloved. My fave rarepair is Phillip/Ivan. The gay devotion in knight/prince ships is peak

Fave Non-Romantic Relationship: Kendall, James, and Phillip. Auxillary Rangers ftw!! (fuck Zenowing)

Fave Episode: The Tooth Hurts! Chiley ep of all time

General Thoughts:

Dino Charge was the first season of Power Rangers that I'd ever seen, and was the thing that got me into the fandom, so I'll always have a soft spot for it. But even rewatching it recently has it hold up.

The characters in this show are what I think makes it one of the best Power Rangers seasons, and the best Neo Saban. All of them are so great, and while they never got too much depth (curse you adults that think kids can't handle complicated things) but they're still such interesting people. Dino Charge had a large cast, and they didn't always handle that many people that well (the auxiliary Rangers unfortunately get little to no attention), but the cast, in my opinion, is what made it so great.

The main cast is so lovable. Tyler, while he can be a little bland at times, is a little cutie so he's great. Chase is an interesting character that's very fun to watch. Koda is the heart of the team and he's a perfect little angel. Riley is our canonically gay (via the actor) overachiever representation. Shelby is also overachiever representation, with academic pressure from parents too! Then you have Ivan. Our loyal and chivalrous knight out of time. The gay devotion is real with this one.

I'm going to cut myself off here, because you probably get the point. I love the cast of Dino Charge. Barring Zenowing and Keeper. They're just useless to me

And because these characters are interesting people, they also have such fun dynamics with each other. I love that the Rangers really feel like a found family. You can examine any relationship between the Rangers and have something to talk about. I mentioned Kendall, Phillip and James earlier as my fave platonic dynamic, but there are a lot more to look at. Tyler and Chase as himbo bros, Riley and Shelby as gay besties , Koda, Kendall and Chase with their familial bond as they were the first Rangers together... they're all great.

And the villain situation in Dino Charge was.... interesting.

The concept of fighting a bounty hunter that captures his monsters from all over the universe is cool, especially because it gives an explanation as to why the monster of the week fights so hard - they'd win their freedom if they brought back an energem. But Sledge himself was kind of a boring villain to me. He never actually has any kind of motivation for getting the energems - we don't know if he wants them for universal domination or to sell them to the highest bidder. So he felt kind of flat to me. I did love Poisandra, Curio, Wrench and Fury though. I liked that they had more personality. And Poisandra is my girl and I love her. She should've gotten a redemption arc. Fury was also an interesting character because of his rivalry with Ivan. I do wish they explored it more, but what we did get was cool.

And after Sledge was defeated, we got Heckyl and Snide! Quite obviously a Jeckyll and Hyde reference, these two were much more interesting to me than Sledge. Heckyl's backstory is so sad 😭 and I love him more for it. The concept of a villain infiltrating the Rangers place of work and pretending to be their friend was so awesome. I wish he was a double agent for longer (and that they didn't wipe his memory of their base) but I liked it.

Then you had Arcanon for a little bit. This was so fucking stupid. Dino Charge made an original villain in Sledge, so I think they shouldn't have bothered with trying to work Arcanon in there (his Sentai counterpart was the head villain). It felt too rushed and they could've introduced the dark energem with something else.

And then surprise! Sledge again! Also hated that to be honest. They defeated him the first time. Why bring him back.

Technically I have to if I want to talk about Dino Charge (unfortunately) so all I'm going to say is that it's stupid and I hate it. Ivan and Koda never leave and they never fuck up the timeline with that dumbfuck idea thanks <3

(Genuinely there's a discussion to be had about the character assassination that was committed by making Koda and Ivan - who had accepted that they were men out of time and living lives with their new family - went back in time for some fucking reason, but that's for another post)

Now! Onto something I actually want to talk about! The Sentai adaptation vs the Power Rangers. I've seen both, so y'all are getting my thoughts as to how well they adapted it. I think Dino Charge did an amazing job. They didn't take what happened in Kyoryuger and copy that exactly (cough cough Samurai cough cough). They made their own story and used the footage well

I also want to talk about the thing that makes Power Rangers iconic - the actual Ranger bit. I'm talking about the power source, the suits, the zords, and the Super mode.

I really liked the energems as a power source. The idea of ancient stones created at the dawn of the universe that bonded to dinosaurs, then people, is really cool. I have issues with the "energems give them immortality" bit (because I'm sad that they have to watch their friends and family die) but it really does make sense. They are bonded to something that is ancient and powerful, and there should be some side effects from that.

Now for the suits! (One could argue that the suits are more of the Sentai's influence but I'm treating them as solely Dino Charge right now). I really love the Dino Charge suits. They already get points in my book for not having fucking lips (which I hate with a burning passion), but they do look cool on their own. I love solidly coloured suits that don't have white or black pants. The helmets are also really cool, and I love the dinosaur heads incorporated in them. So the DIno Charge suits are great to me

The zords in Dino Charge are also awesome. They look really cool. I wish they could be small to hang out with their Rangers, but alas, we can't have everything 😔

The Super mode in Dino Charge was a pretty solid one. I liked that Rexy could be small to fight alongside Tyler. Don't love the white on the suit, but at least his normal suit is a nice, solid red.

So yeah! That's my Dino Charge review. Thanks for sticking around after that word vomit lol. I love this season so fucking much

but then i got an ask (that i already deleted) accusing me of being a proshipper bcuz apparently 3 x neo 3 is problematic bcuz its "power imbalance?" and like.. ig yeah that could be an issue irl w ur boss taking advantage of u. but like..... thats.... clearly not what im talking about???

3 x callie is like. top tier. its so good. like you just know 3 and callie would goof around together. especially the splat 1 version of 3??? like their dynamic would be top tier. and i just know 3 would whisper stuff to callie and they would giggle about it and refuse to tell anyone else what they are laughing about. and i am always a rarepair enjoyer. like. its so good. (i ship callie x marina x pearl so you know im masochistic when it comes to my ships)

AND 4 X MARIE??? i know this one is a bit more well known but i love it. i dont know if i would ship my main agent 4 with my main interpretation of marie, but like another version of them? yes. it works so well. marie is literally in love w 4.

BUT OK ANOTHER RAREPAIR: 4 x callie. i know everyone loves 3 x 8 cuz blah blah 8 beat up mind controlled 3. but ??? 4 beat up mind controlled callie and we got NOTHING from the fandom. im mostly a 4 x 8 shipper at heart but this is another one i rlly like. i just know 4 would try to show off by picking smth heavy up or doing some cool trick only to fail miserably. and callie would be able to do it first try.

and i have even more opinions on different idol ships and combos but uhh thats for another day when someone wants to listen to my ramblings lol

anyway in conclusion i love rarepairs and pretty much every splat ship so yeah feel free to talk to me about them any time. i love figuring out character dynamics and all that. also everyone has such good designs everyone looks good together. also just like. non romantic pairs as well. like ppl who have sibling dynamics. ppl who are clearly in a qpr. ppl who are besties. apprentice and mentor dynamics. i just think every splat character is so interesting on their own that pretty much every combination is top tier. and like. things dont have to mutually exclusive when it comes to relationships. im a multipshipper.

and i think the same goes for other dynamics. like in my mind one version of neo 3 and 3, 3 sees neo like a younger sibling and spoils them and doent want what happened to 3 to happen to neo. in another version 3 sees neo like a younger version of them and tries to toughen them up and neo sees it as unfair and there is angst while 3 has to confront everything they went thru and if it was even fair for them to have gone thru it. cuz in their mind ofc its ok to do this to neo, its what 3 did to become the way they are. in another version they are just besties. in another version they are dating. in another version they have a competitive love/hate relationship and argue a lot about whos better.

LIKE THINGS DONT HAVE TO JUST BE ONE WAY!! i like exploring different stuff and seeing everyones takes on them!!!!!

A secret wave 3 to the expansion pass such a surprise no? But, what does this secret wave of Dlc contain?

What would the Nss be like after the final boss fight of splatoon 3? What if a half fuzzified neo agent 3 and the other unfuzzified agents.

Will they survive this fuzzy battle to their demise? Even though mister Grizz isn’t present but, revealed to actually have met his end by ‘one’ of the agents he fuzzified.

Unlikely forces joining together to take back what was rightfully theres. The Fuzzy agents taking the hide out at Alterna forcing the good guys to hide out on a farther island outside of their knowledge.

An abandoned human laboratory called The Lab of Anthropoid Recollection Recovery or A.R.R for short. Using it as their base and medical recovery unit.

Maybe when this whole situation is all over maybe they could research all the human information there, but now isn’t the appropriate time for them do at such a time like this.

Now Dj octavio, along with his remaining octo army. Sanitized & Fuzzy. Along with some members of the squidbeak now must fight alongside them to save the remaining octarians and agents from this fuzzy ooze infestation.

1- First boss fight will be against a Fuzzified Elite Blue-ringed octoling and a Fuzzified Bull Sharkling. The skill you need to use most unpon this fight is teamwork. If you don’t have it in this fight. You lose

2- Have a Double blast from the past. Octowhirl & Octomaw Now upgraded with spikes & a killer wail for the octowhirl. No one knows how to defeat theses bosses better than the captain.

3- The Zombie Octo Samurai is back. With the same attacks but, now he has the kracken roller so, you better hope your a fast swimmer and ink shooter to avoiding being insta-splatted by the giant octo-kracken

4- Final boss fight [1/2] Funky Fiend

Your Up against Agent 2.3. If you thought the boss fights before were hard, you’d be dead wrong. Skilled custom with an e-liter 4k scope, she’ll use her snipping skills to splat you from long distances while using the the colorful wall tiles all around the walls to do so. They are built in with springs in them so if she wanted to jump attack you she can. Beware for when she runs outta ink she’ll try to wack you with the end of the elite mr 4k scope. Her Eliter is armed with burst bombs and auto bombs with her special being killer wail. You’ll canonically lose during her fight. By being saved in a Nick of time by octavio.

5- Final Boss Fight [2/2] - Hypnotic Beauty

Agent 8’s Boss level themed like an 8 ball level blasting a remixed version of nasty majesty through the speakers you’ll come across. Armed with fast shooting octo shot Dualies along depth Giant splat bombs. With a special of splash down. Imagine the fight of inner agent 3 but more difficult. Along with her using a flooder.

6-[Secret Misson] - Last Chance

A final boss fight between the two agents unexpectedly showing up at the base after the fight is won their injected with the cure to the fuzzy Ooze

four is agent 4 of the new squidbeak splatoon! they’re an inkling and they’re currently 21 years old! they joined the nss when they were 16 recently after they moved into the inkopolis square area. they are dating jay (captain 3) and amber (agent 8)!

amber is agent 8 of the new squidbeak splatoon! she’s an octoling originally from the octarian domes and they are currently 20 years old! she joined the nss unofficially during her time in the deepsea metro, and officially about a week after they escaped (she was 17). she is dating jay (captain 3) and four (agent 4)!

Ok.

First off this whole thing really got kicked off by the Famitsu Interview on Side Order. It's been translated by @/rassicas and @/magicalgirlfia and can be found both here and on Twitter.

Here's the translation:

You want 3 and 8 to be stronger than 4? Go right ahead, there's nothing stopping you.

With that said, however, let's go over why I personally think 4 is the strongest.

First is probably the weaker of the two reasons. It's stated that 4 doesn't watch TV, and that the reason they didn't know about the Squid Sisters is they are busy with extracurricular activities.

Although a little weak in terms of actual evidence of strength, I've always read this as 4 being extremely dedicated to training. After all, extracurriculars are typically sports, so I assume in the world of Splatoon they would be things associated with Turf Wars or Ranked Modes.

This would then read as 4 being dedicated, and maybe even talented, at ink battles. Dedicated to the point where they don't even watch TV.

The second is the 100% completion requirements for the story modes.

Splatoon 1: You have to complete every level and find the Sunken Scroll. You have 15 upgrades to obtain from fish eggs. You only have to worry about one weapon. (Note: I did note include the amiibos challenges here because I personally consider them non-canon content. If you want to include them you add 20 levels using the Hero Roller, 20 levels using the Hero Charger, 4 limited ink challenges, and 16 levels using Kraken. 3 of these additional levels are fights against the final boss using the respective weapon for the challenge).

Splatoon 2: 37 Sardinium and 32 Sunken Scrolls to collect both inside and outside of levels. 15 total upgrades to buy with fish eggs and Sardinium. 32 levels to complete with all weapons (Hero Shot, Hero Roller, Hero Charger, Hero Dualies, Hero Brella, Hero Splatling, Hero Blaster, Hero Slosher, and Hero Brush).

Octo Expansion: 80 levels plus 8 levels during the escape and 1 level for Inner Agent 3. 84 levels have at least one weapon/ special weapon option, 51 levels have a second weapon option, and 37 have a third weapon option.

Splatoon 3: 24 Sunken Scrolls, 18 Sardinium, 18 Records, 29 Decorations, 7 Alterna logs, and 6 map surveys to collect outside of levels. There are 70 levels with at least one weapon/ special weapon option, 40 levels with a second weapon option, and 32 levels with a third weapon option. There are also 32 upgrades to obtain.

Side Order: 12 weapons to complete the spire with. 112 levels to discover. 49 items to obtain from Cipher. 24 badges to obtain. 78 hacks to get. 51 enemy blogs to complete. 189 color chips to obtain.

In general:

Agent 3 beats 32 levels, and Octavio once (92 levels and Octavio 4 times if you count the amiibo levels).

Agent 4 beats 288 levels, beating Octavio 9 times.

Agent 8 beats 173 levels.

Neo Agent 3 beats 143 levels, defeating Grizz once.

Agent 8 in Side Order climbs the tower God knows how many times to get a 100% but we can say that they beat Order 12 times, once with either low hacks or low color chips depending on player choice.

So in terms of levels Agent 4 does indeed have everyone beat. Though that's not why I personally look at the 100% requirements. I look to them because Agent 4 does something no other agent does, and that's beat levels designed for certain weapons types with the opposite weapon type. The levels Agent 8 runs through may be harder, but Agent 8 isn't beating a charger level with a brush. Agent 3 only has to worry about one weapon (3 if you count amiibos), and Agent 8 and Neo 3 get weapons hand picked for the level they're running through.

Agent 4 doesn't get that. What they get instead are levels where you can't hit the Grapplink with your main weapon and instead have to throw bombs at them in mid air. The closest you get to Agent 4's experience again is during Side Order, yet there you have hacks and powerful color chips to aid you. Agent 4 got almost nothing, with most weapons only getting one upgrade.

Now, this doesn't mean any of the agents are weak though. With a Hero Shot in hand and a special at the ready, Agent 3's experience will always lead them to victory. Give Agent 8 a plan to execute and they'll beat any odds against them. Neo 3 is young, but is raw skill incarnate and with their chaotic personality any enemies against them will find themselves falling.

As for Agent 4, they're the strongest because you can hand them any weapon in any situation and they'll still bloom. They're a jack-of-all-trades, yet still a master of all. They might not be able to beat Agent 3 in a fight, and they trade victories off when facing against Agent 8, but that doesn't make them weaker. Give them time and experience, and their already sharp blade will become impossible to dull.

Or at least that's my two cents. Long I know, but I'm passionate about this game. If you don't think 4 is the strongest, that's fair. We don't get to see them a lot compared to every other Agent. I guess all I ask is to understand that some of us do consider them the strongest, and we have our reasons for doing so.

I’m so sorry, but why is Agent 4 the strongest agent? How did they earn it?

Agent 4 saved the world one (1) time, as a fun summer activity, and it’s been stated multiple times that it was mostly Marie’s idea. And, unless they’re on some solo mission, they haven’t done anything since.

You’re telling me they’re stronger than the Captain? Who spent every waking moment of their life past the events of S1 going on missions and building such a rapport with Cuttlefish that they were personally chosen to be his successor?

You’re telling me they’re stronger than Agent 8? Who saw the worst parts of the world before and especially after losing their memories? Who never stopped moving forward and represents the best of the series up to this point? Who holds a confidence and persistence that was enough to pull them out of Grayscaling through sheer will and music?

Agent 4 is just?? Stronger than both of them??? I really want to be invested in 4, to look at them and go “heck yeah, the strongest!” But like. What have they done? Have they even done any agent work outside of S2 and being recommended for security by Marina? If not, how? How are they the strongest?

Can We Discuss Feminism? (pt. 3)

 Back at it again with everyone’s favorite topic: Gender equality and the political mechanics that go into putting out positive media representations of it. Ok, no, but I am going to be talking about like, actually political topics in how feminism is divided and characterized with feminist history, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t read it! Just might be a bit of a history lesson too.

I want to start by addressing SSO’s very first statement on this matter, because I think it’s important. When SSO launched, they said they weren’t going to add male playable characters because they wanted to make a space for women. And I talked about this in my genderlocking piece, but that still strikes a cord with me and I think we need to have that discussion. It shouldn’t be the final discussion, but it should be a discussion.

Media predominantly is genderlocked to males. Typically when a game is genderlocked to women, it’s either for very young kids kids OR it’s lewded for the (largely) male audience. And so there is something to be said about SSO being a game that is unapologetically in the feminine aesthetic focused on being a game for all ages that is about women. And I think that the conversation needs to be had that it is almost always these games like SSO where we see outcry about genderlocking and the expectation to uphold gender equality, but not so for games targeted at the male audience, or at least not nearly as loudly. And yes, the feminist movement has been the leading proponent of gender equality for all genders, but the expectation for only products aimed largely at a female audience to be held to a fully gender equal standard is in it of itself a double standard that we need to address. And while I feel for trans-men and non-binary folx being misgendered in SSO, I do think we need to acknowledge that better and hold the whole industry to a better standard on the matter, not just games like SSO.

That said, ending the discussion there is second-wave feminism. We are in intersectional feminism and the end point of intersectional feminism IS that all genders need to be equally represented. And so where that discussion does need to be had, and I think SSO should push it, it can’t end there. SSO needs to move forward with including more gender options when they have their character remodel and it can’t include genderlocking, because all companies need to do this if they don’t have fixed characters you’re playing as. Gender identity is important, and even if they can’t do neo-pronouns yet because of translation issues, having at least she/he/they as options should be the baseline moving forward and we should make sure all companies are held to that standard.

That said, I want to be fair and present solutions that have reasonable production turnarounds for the near future. The player remodel is years in the works, longer for the more gender options you have. So what can SSO do now?

First of all, pronoun tags. Even if the model doesn’t get updated yet, adding customizable pronoun tags that you can change anytime you want for the PC and set for horses is an important start that relies on technology already in the game.

While they’re at it putting in the coding for quests and generally doing another pass on quests since recent retcons have cut some things and left a few quests feeling a little jarring, start seeding that being a Soul Rider is a position you can earn and it’s not limited to the four Soul Riders we know now. Have the narrative actively challenge the traditions of the Keepers into being more inclusive as a narrative that needs to happen on gender equality with kids and teens.

One big step in this direction would be to make Justin a Soul Rider when he goes to South Hoof and connects with the Singing Yew. Expand the understanding of magic and introduce these questions early enough on that we start questioning what it means to be a Soul Rider as the Keepers insist on the traditional Soul Rider unit and where magic comes from and then follow up by traveling with Justin as he comes to terms with his new powers and his relationship with his mother and his recent choices to be someone who does good and THAT’s what a Soul Rider is following the Catherine journals. Use this to support Concorde being a mare and that not just being a bad plot hole and talking about this being about the soul and dedication and not just destiny and genderlocks.

I’ve already talked about this, but it is so important to move away from the current Soul Riders and introduce new ones. I love the main four, but as long as they are so central to the plot, the Soul Riders remain this reminder of a traditional centralized female led group. So while they should remain active agents in the story, we need to move towards recruiting more characters of more gender identities and make them active agents central to the story.

Not to mention, breaking down the Soul Rider being a limited four person unit makes way more sense for an MMO narrative and it opens it up to telling stories with your friends and other players in game without bending over backwards with canon. So like, by making these changes not only to you become more inclusive, but you also set up the groundwork for better game design in a multiplayer aspect.

I think the last easy thing SSO could do is add a choice of head accessory the player gets for free at the start of the game. None of these items give stats anyway, so it’s just a choice of a free option until the player models are redone. This way instead of just the helmet, players could choose between a pair of glasses, a head scarf, a hearing aid, a beard, and a mustache. All of these options should be free to pick up in Moorland so you can double/if you missed out, you can get them. But it’s a free way to add basic customization for people of multiple different walks with features mostly already in the game. Combined with pronouns, it’s a solution SSO could implement now to the game without a lot of coding.

And that’s everything for now. This topic is always going to be dynamic but it’s important to be had. Just be practical with the implication. Some of these are easier to add than others. An accessory shop could probably be added in a month using assets already in the game, but even updating pronouns would take months on the low end. Not to mention going back through the whole story to seed other gender changes. Push for change, always, but try to give steps that are achievable in the meantime.

Supercorp shippers say Alex, Kelly and Dansen are “non-threatening supporting positions”  and Nia, NIA!!!!!, is a “token presence”. Only because Lena and Kara are not canon. That’s some higher level of disrespect. Basically, it’s calling Alex, Kelly and Nia NOT IMPORTANT.

Also, I’m sorry????? “...to see people who LOOK, love or live” - what is this RACIST thing? Because Kelly is not white?  I have heard the same thing during s2 and 3 when they say Alex and Maggie were TOO OLD for them to feel attached to them.

And I’m here to see Kara be a part of representation. 

What I don’t get is forcing representation and the worst possible character aka Lena Luthor: a white privileged  wealthy woman who has NEVER paid for her doings like a typical wealthy white person who belongs to the 1% of society. A gun lover. A person who created a device that could EXPOSE someone’s identity WITHOUT CONSENT, what could and DID put aliens in danger (think about it! would you want someone to expose your sexuality like that? to people who could use it to harm you?). A person who supported alienphobic president and neo-nazi Agent of Liberty with her serum. A person who wanted to make humans superpowered to fight against aliens. Who murdered innocent young boy during illegal experiment. Who tortured, manipulated, lied, stole from, yelled, gaslighted, hurt physically and emotionally the supossed love interest like NO ONE EVER DID. Who kidnapped and ENSLAVED two POC characters, tortured and threathened to kill one of them. Who wanted to lobotomize whole humanity, because someone didn’t tell her a fucking secret. Who supported a mass murderer. And didn’t pay for anything what she has done.

And some people say she is a wonderful representation.

Note: This FAQ is written by moderator of /r/Satanism and Agent of the Church of Satan, /u/modern_quill. I am trying to remain unbiased and fact-based in these Q&A responses, so if you feel that I have somehow misrepresented your organization or philosophy, please let me know and we can work together to make the appropriate corrections.

Q: What is Satanism?

A: This is a simple question, but it has a complex answer because it depends on who you ask. Satanism as a philosophy and religion was first codified by Anton Szandor LaVey in his 1969 publication of The Satanic Bible. Some people refer to this secular Satanism as "LaVeyan Satanism" as a nod to Anton LaVey. The Satanic Bible borrows from the works of Might is Right by Ragnar Redbeard, Ayn Rand's Objectivism, and Frederich Nietzche's Der Wille zur Macht. This is the most widely practiced form of Satanism and is championed by the Church of Satan (CoS) to this day. At its most basic definition, "LaVeyan Satanism" is about living the best life that you want to live, and bending the world around you to your will to achieve that goal. A Satanist sees themselves as their own God. There is, of course, much more to Satanism than that very basic definition, but we expect people to do their own research as well. Most LaVeyan Satanists will simply call it Satanism, as there is only one form of Satanism from the Church of Satan's perspective. Members of the recently formed secular organization called The Satanic Temple (TST), by comparison, see Satanism as political activism. The Satanic Temple often makes news headlines with their efforts to establish a separation of church and state and do not include The Satanic Bible as part of their organization's canon, but rather The Revolt of the Angels by Anatole France. Later, some people in the United Kingdom split from The Satanic Temple to form the Global Order of Satan (GOS). There are also theistic Satanists, some believe in a literal Satan and some do not. Ask a theist like /u/Ave_Melchom what they believe and they'll likely share their thoughts with you, but you probably won't find very many theists that share the same philosophy. There are also more esoteric organizations such as the Temple of Set (ToS), which was formed by former Church of Satan member Michael Aquino after infighting within the organization in 1975 caused many theistic members to split away and become Setians. /u/Purple-Tatters and /u/CodeReaper moderate /r/Setianism subreddit and are a wealth of information on the subject. There are also organizations that fall into a more neo-nazi ideology such as the Order of Nine Angles (ONA or O9A), here is additional reading on ONA, and self-stylized "Spiritual Satanists" of the Joy of Satan (JoS), which are often not tolerated by other members of this subreddit. The words, "Fuck off, Nazi!" have become somewhat of a meme on /r/Satanism.

Q: If Satanists don't believe in Satan, why call it Satanism at all? Why not Humanism?

LaVeyan A: Modern secular Satanists see humans as just another animal within the greater animal kingdom, no better than our avian, reptilian, or mammalian friends. Our technology and our intellectual advancements may have placed us at the top of the food chain, but it has merely encouraged humans to be the most vicious animals of all. To us, Satan is a metaphor that represents our strength, our pride, our intellect, our carnality, and all of the so-called sins as they lead to physical, mental, or emotional gratification. The Hebrew word Satan simply means adversary, and Satanists take that adversarial stance to a great many things in their lives; the way we approach an issue, the way we tackle a problem, the way we overcome an obstacle. While Humanists may try to live like Bill & Ted and be excellent to eachother, a Satanist recognizes that emotions like anger, even hate are natural to the human animal and we shouldn't feel guilty for such natural inclinations. While Christians may turn the other cheek when wronged, you can be sure that a Satanist will have their revenge, with interest.

Q: Do you sacrifice or molest children/animals? Do you drink blood?

LaVeyan A: No. Sacrifice is a Christian concept that was projected on to innocent Satanists during the "Satanic Panic" of the 80's and early 90's by charlatan law enforcement "consultants" and Christian religious "experts". One trait common to Satanists is their love of life as Satanists view life as the greatest of indulgences; children and animals represent the purest forms of life and imagination that there are. In fact, the abuse of children and animals is forbidden by the Eleven Satanic Rules of the Earth. Also, why would we want to drink blood? Christians are the ones that (symbolically) eat the flesh and drink the blood of their savior. I'd rather enjoy a nice scotch.

Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them.

When in another’s lair, show him respect or else do not go there.

If a guest in your lair annoys you, treat him cruelly and without mercy.

Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained.

Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself.

Do not harm little children.

Do not kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for your food.

When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to stop. If he does not stop, destroy him.
