THIS IS THE fourth of a growing set of short occasional pieces. I like to think of these as part musical diary, and part musical activism. The pieces are rather like MIRRORS MADE OF SOUND -- some would say shards of glass & barbed-wire -- mirrors that reflect in an open, honest, naked way the violent insanity of the present cultural, political moment.

The basic theme is simple:

Humanity seems caught in a contradiction between the Demonic and the Divine, caught between, on the one hand, the self-destructive violence of war and conflict, and, on the other hand, the great promise of the natural intelligence of Nature, the Sacred, and the living Earth. Becoming aware of this contradiction and how it manifests as a formative force in our culture, our politics, our thought and consciousness -- and, indeed, our art and music -- is, I think, a central challenge of our time.

The texts used are generally selected at random. Computer synthetic speech is preferred here as a way of mirroring how mechanical our actual human speech -- to my ear so loud, fast, aggressive, utterly without rhythm and breath -- has become. Individual words, phrases, fragments of public discourse, documents, outright lies, propaganda, etc. are distributed using chance operations which then go on to form complex, polyglot temporal vortices. At the same time, two historical source texts -- embodying this contradiction between the Divine & Demonic -- are juxtaposed with each other throughout the whole. These are translations from the German, and are from J.S. BACH & Hannah ARENDT, Victor KLEMPERER, & from the English texts of David BOHM. The avian soloists featured here are native to the borderlands, the Black-capped Vireo...back natural and modulated for our orchestra.

So, we finished a review of this troll like a week ago, and you seem to have changed a lot of things, but save the sprite there are there very few pertaining to CD’s review? So in light of that I’m gonna be doing this second review instead of CD to see if I can bring anything different to the table. Furthermore, because your bio introduces multiple themes throughout, I’m going to go through once with light commentary and then make my changes at the very end when I’ve decided what themes to keep and which ones to toss.

Some info:in left i got him when he was the heir,i made an crown based on the fabric triangle some ghosts wear,also got an squid crown,got blinded for unknown reasons,got an squid cape that he hates and some cuffs that reflect how he is trapped on being the prince,on right theres him when ran from mean trollstodian,got an helmet and a bionic horn/tentacle,bad cover-up of his sign and the tentacles of his shoes are now off,id would like an re-design from the squid heir one,and the jelly runaway,also he does not look too muck jellyfishy…. Also, interesting concept of each principality having a fuchsia ruler! I guess in that context it makes sense for one to run away since there would be more fuchsias to fill the power vacuum.

Name:left is Glauce ?????? and right is Nomuro ??????, Glauce is pluto’s twin and Nomuro comes from Nomura,one of the biggest species of jellyfish,and ro because is the termination on some japanese boy names

Aight let’s go over the themes we found in this bio along with which themes can “eat” the other ones: squid (painting, synesthesia), jellyfish (ghosts/necromancy, youth/immortality (candy)), Pluto, and electric eels(?).

Hm. So if I wanted to collapse this into a couple broad and easily applicable themes, I’d probably stick with the jellyfish and squid? Which means I should go through and remove references to Pluto and electric eels?

Name: Which means, right off the bat, that we should change the first name from Glauce. Maybe Magfin, from the Bigfin Squid Magnapinna? They’re well known for being real freaky-looking squid with long, long tentacles that it uses to feed off the seabed, and are rarely even seen, which reinforces both the ghostly theme of hiding and the long chain of responsibilities that are difficult to escape.

Strife Specibus: Instead of paintbrushkid, maybe needlegun, like a tattoo machine?

Fetch Modus: I like the mechanic of the Shock Modus, so maybe we can just make it a Sting Modus with the same properties? We can also add in CD’s suggestion from last time of a Squid modus that works like a camouflaged tree modus.

Symbol: I agree that he’s a Doom player, a Dersite, and a Fuchsiablood, but I no longer think he needs the Pluto association? SO I might just make him straight-up Piminini again.

Trolltag: I think we can allude to him being “young,” to starting a new life, and to being a former heir without tipping our hand too strongly. How about splitImmortal? The “split” referencing his divided idenities as well as the bident, and “immortal” a reference to the immortal jellyfish you mentioned earlier as well as the fact that fuchsiabloods live significantly longer than their lower-blooded coutnerparts.

Quirk: I like the bident quirk, but I’d jettison the Pi quirk. For the rest maybe just a colon and an underlined equal sign after c? like so:

Special Abilities: I like what you’ve given him! I would like if his visions of doom were similar confused due to his synesthesia.

Lusus: the lusis is cute as hell I wouldn’t take him away from you

Personality: I think it makes sense for this character to have two faces since so much of his character is based on splits, but I would expand on this a little more in terms of what circumstances would cause him to decide it’s worth standing up to someone. For example, it seems that he weighed the odds and decided that running away was the better option to standing up to his trollstodian.

Interests: I like the necromancy detail actually! Let’s add something arty to justify the whole ink thing.

Horns - This is an AU so I guess he doesn’t have to have Feferi’s horns, but I thought it would be worth trying on.

Hair - This is slightly edited from CD’s review of this troll since I felt it had the character you were going for.

Crown - The crown looked a little busy, so I gave him a tiara shaped like the top of a squid head and gave him a gem that imitated the top of the symbol!

Eyes - I know the “blind seer” is the most overplayed trope, but deep-sea squids and jellyfish often don’t have what we consider “eyes.” I went with a blind look more similar to when Sollux “died” rather than Terezi’s look

1) because a tealblood seer with red eyes would edge a little too close to Terezi

2) the black eyes look a little spookier, playing back into the ghost theme

3) this gives a stronger tie-in to his synesthesia since it will function similarly to Terezi’s strong sense of smell

Helmet - Since I made him blind, I wanted to give him a Geordie LaForge type visor for his helmet!

Scarf - most scarves in Homestuck just show the one side of it to get the visual across so that’s what I did.

Symbol - just changed it to straight-up Pimini

Shirt - for the teal sign, I gave his shirt a scalloped edge to better call back to the jellyfish/ghost themes, especially since his helmet gives his head a domes appearance. This way his fuchsiablood version leans more on squid themes and his tealblood version is more jellyfish!

Shoes - the tentacles made the design a little busy, so I took ‘em otu but kept the ink stains, since they’re a nice nod to the squiddyness of it all and also a reminder that no matter where he goes, he’ll leave some trace of himself.

Zero Focus (ゼロの焦点 Zero no shōten, 1961) by Yoshitaro Nomura

In Zero Focus, the Japanese director Toshitaro Nomura acclaimed in the West for 1978 film The Demon, focuses on heroine Teiko (portrayed by Yoshiko Kuga) as the personification of uncertainty in family relationships many women have to deal with.

Yoshiko Kuga is one of the most prominent actresses of the Golden Age of Japanese cinematography mainly known for her support roles. She starred as support actress in several films of Akira Kurosawa (Drunken Angel, The Idiot), Yasujiro Ozu (Equinox Flower), Tadashi Imai (Until We Meet Again), Kenji Mizoguchi (The Woman in the Rumour, Tales of the Taira Clan), Kinuyo Tanaka but personally, I like the most her role in Somewhere Beneath the Wide Sky by Masaki Kobayashi. Nomura and Kuga knew each other from the time of working in Kurosawa's The Idiot where Nomura used to be an assistant director. In his film Zero Focus Yoshiko Kuga gets a chance to play the main role, and she does it very well.

At first glance, Zero Focus is a mystery film which tells in Rashomon-like style about the circumstances of Teiko's husband Kenichi death and past. In the first scene, he is off for a short business trip, just one week after marrying Teiko. She would never see him again, as he disappears shortly. Traveling around Japan and discovering her husband's whereabouts and details of his past life, the heroine happens to be quite a detective. Once her husband Kenichi (played by Koji Nambara) death is declared by the police, the case gets closed with no criminal record found behind his suicide. Yet Teiko is reluctant to admit the man who married her a week ago took his own life. With her discoveries, she tells the story in a very different way of learning her husband has been murdered along with two other people under peculiar circumstances. Later, while she encounters Kenichi's murder, we learn the third version of the story told by the woman who killed him.

This Rashomon-like detective story is very entertaining. There is a room for decent suspense, interesting twists of plot and jump cuts going to the past and future to show various events in different ways. The story is great, as well as acting of Yoshiko Kuga and Ineko Arima (as Hisako) who is famous for her role in the bleakest Ozu's film Tokyo Twilight.

But this is not just a detective story Toshitaro Nomuro had told. The story shows Kenichi living a double life. He lacks a strong character and attitude involving several women in his life simultaneously. They all end up suffering because of his reserved character and lie. Initially, he is afraid of breaking up with either Hisako or Emmy, but to solve his problems he involves the third woman Teiko instead of telling the truth. Not to make hard decisions, he chooses to lie again to the women and stages his death but dies as this suicide is being staged.

We learn that Teiko simply knew nothing about her husband prior to marriage. She has been passing on many offers before she chose to entrust her life to Kenichi. For the woman in Japan back in those days, the marriage has been a crucial event of all her life. However, we see that she had to take such a decision being unaware of her husband's past. She was forced to do so, and her marriage lasts for only one week. Nevertheless, as she had already entrusted her life to Kenichi she keeps investigating the details oh his death and encounters with the other women who have been hurt by Kenichi. Teiko survives, while two other women take their own lives. Teiko is trying to understand the peculiarities of all this story to look into her own life and the sad fate which is like a cold ocean on a desolate island she ruminates on at the end of the film. The dependence on marriages and men bring women to such situations where they are not protected and forced to deal with the situations with no solution.

Toshitaro Nomura comprises a suspense mystery story with psychological drama in a really good way. Zero Focus is entertaining and even magnetic. The aesthetic of the film is tailored in a traditional way of the Golden Age of cinema in Japan: with minimalistic tones, little of montage, long-takes focusing on the characters, modest visual part, it is enriched with allegories. Moreover, Zero Focus is impressive in terms of great performances of lead actress Yoshiko Kuga and Ineko Arima.

Mais ou menos na metade do caminho da volta, não mais que de repente, o celular do Bernau toca…

- Tá bom - responde o menino. - Vou convidar o pessoal depois te dou uma resposta.

- Quem era? - Perguntou dona Lucinda, mãe de Bernau.

- Era o Fujiro - respondeu Bernau. - Ele convidou a gente pra tomar sorvete lá na pracinha, hoje à noite.

Fujiro é um japonezinho (claro!) colega de classe do Lukinha e do Bernau, cujos familiares são imigrantes do Japão (claro!) e adoram tomar sorvete na pracinha do bairro. O nome completo da figura é Fujiro Kamoto.

Lukinha, mais que depressa, foi o primeiro a dar uma resposta:

- Tô nessa! Se meus pais deixarem, é claro.

Evidentemente que deixariam, como sempre.

- Então, senhor Santana, “pé na tábua” - ordenou a esposa em tom gozação. - Temos que chegar em casa antes das sete da noite.

- Então, senhores passageiros, apertem os cintos que lá “voamos” nós.

- “Minha Santa Ana” - pensou alto a dona Joanete, mãe do Lukinha. O senhor Santana pisou fundo mesmo! - Já estamos a 80 por hora!

Enfim, todos chegaram são e salvos.

E, à noitinha, após o jantar, lá estava a patota toda na sorveteria da pracinha, pegando firme no sorvete.

Até os pais do Fujiro deram o “ar da graça”. Senhor Sairo Nakombi e senhora Subiro Nomuro.

E dá-lhe sorvete...

Enquanto rolava o bate papo descontraído e entremeado com um sorvetinho, Lukinha “filmava” um casal de namorados no banco bem ao lado. Percebendo que o assunto era relacionamento amoroso e o modo de falar do noivo era estranho, pensou: “Sou todo ouvidos!”

E o cara despejava pra cima de sua amada todo seu inconformismo com o fim do romance.

- Pô, Abigail, parecia qui nói doi ia ino tão bem. Mai de repente, não maiqui de repente, oçê mijô gofora para sempre. A impressão quimi dá é qui oçê num cagostô di eu.

A simplória pretendida só ouvia...

E o interesseiro Lukinha, olhando de soslaio, também ouvia...

E o apaixonado ferido... Continua falando...

- Oçê sabe, minha querida, qui eu sempre fui fissurado em ti i quiusmeus afetos por tisão iquio meu coração por tijela.

- Oh! Que romântico - sussurrou Lukinha. Continuo ouvindo...

E o rapaz continua desabafando...

- Aqueles boatosqui andou rolano por aí qui eu tava saino du armário, é puro papofu rado memo. Na verdade eu quero sê sempre ómi, num caguei.

Depois dessa, Lukinha sugeriu o final encontro com os colegas.

- Aí, pessoal. Por hoje já ouvi o bastante. Estou indo pra casa.

E a patota seguiu o exemplo...

Os pais do Fujiro já tinham fugido primeiro que todos. É que no final o rapaz estava falando um pouco mais emocionado e todos estavam ouvindo…

E assim termina a noite de domingo.

Mas veio a Segunda-Feira...

Dia de trabalho...

Dia de escola...

Lukinha não falta à aula de jeito nenhum. Só se estiver doente. No recreio, o Tiaguinho não alcançava o copo com leite que estava em cima do balcão. Ele é bem pixotinho e a turma zoava com ele.

Pintor de rodapé e pouca sombra eram alguns de seus apelidos.

Apesar de tudo ajudaram-no a alcançar seu lanche e o leite.

Senhor Nicanor, o zelador, homem simplório e trabalhador, passando pelo local, viu a cena e comentou:

- Muito bem, crianças! É assim mesmo que se faz! Um amigo “po otro”.

E o Lukinha não deixou por menos.

- Um amigo é pôtro! Cada uma!

E a Lucila?

Tão criança e já usava óculos com lentes garrafais. Ela gostava muito de ler e por isso estava sempre na biblioteca. A turminha tirava uma onda com ela também, chamando-a de “dona da biblioteca”.

- Lá vai a Lucila na biblioteca dela, diziam.

- Que maneiro - estilingou o Lukinha. - Bibliotecadela.

As prateleiras da biblioteca eram bastante altas e tinha que se usar uma escada para alcançar determinado livro. Toda vez que Lucila subia na escada para pegar uma obra na parte alta da prateleira, tinha alguém a dizer:

- Cuidado! Não vá cair!

E o Lukinha estava por perto para observar:

- Que maldade. Não “vacair”?

De súbito, uma frase ecoa em côro pela grande sala de leitura:

- “QUATRO OOLHOO!!!

“!@#$%¨&* respondeu ela.

Em seguida fez-se um silêncio sepulcral...

A porta da grande se abriu...

Quem chegou???

Dona Ergométrica!

A Bibliotecária!

Mulher de meia idade, séria, vestindo aquele tradicional “taier” azul marinho, fechou a porta atrás de si...

Lançou sobre as crianças aquele olhar autoritário por cima do óculos sobre seu nariz e esbravejou:

- QUEM DISSE ISSO???

Cada um querendo se safar do “sermão” da “Dona Erg”, todos os dedinhos apontaram para o sardinha. E em côro, a acusação:

-Foi aquele gurí lá!!!

- Será que eu entendi direito? - Observou Lukinha. - Aquele “gurila”?

No pátio, sardinha estava indignado.

- Urra meu! Todo mundo me entregou na hora mas todos falaram...

Mas o Fujiro interveio...

- Menos a Lucila - disse. - Isso não saiu da boca dela.

- “Bocadela”? Será que eu entendi bem? - Notou o Lukinha.

- Aí, pessoal. Minha irmã vai se casar no próximo sábado e todos estão convidados - anunciou ele.

E o côro respondeu a uma só voz:

- Beleza! Vamos nessa!!!

E no sábado, precisamente às 4 horas da tarde, a igreja estava lotada. E a patota? Tava tudo lá.

Lukinha, Fujiro, 4 ôlho, quer dizer, Lucila, Cesar, Bernau…

Cada um acompanhado de seus respectivos pais e irmãos.

Padre Ludovico (Bibico, para os íntimos) todo paramentado, posando de celebrante na frente do altar, dá o pontapé inicial no rito do casório.

No momento da homilia, falou... Falou... E resvalou...

- Fé demais não cheira muito bem - disse ele.

- Se fede mais claro que não cheira bem - observou Lukinha em voz alta.

- Ele só quis enfatizar o equilíbrio da fé, sem aquele fanatismo - consertou o pai de Lukinha. - Ele não falou por mal.

No final da cerimônia o sacerdote dirigiu-se aos noivos e como derradeira mensagem disse:

- A sua esposa, você deve amá-la e respeitá-la...

- A mala ficou em cima do guarda-roupa, se não me falha a memória – tascou Lukinha em voz baixa.

Por sua vez o noivo respondeu em voz alta:

- Querida, eu vou amar-te!

- Ele vai à Marte? Mas … e a festa? - Cochichou Lukinha a Fujiro.

- Depois da festa - consertou este.

- O respeito mútuo - continuou o celebrante - sempre deve prevalecer na convivência diária do casal.

- Respeito. Isto está se acabando - comentou um dos padrinhos do noivo ao outro, em voz baixa.

- Verdade - respondeu o outro. - Nos tempos de hoje quase não temos isso, mas em outro tempo tinha.

- Olha o respeito - pediu Lukinha. - Dentro da igreja falar que um tem putinha?

... E com essas e mais aquela... A cerimônia termina.

- Té quim fim! - Suspirou Glorinha.

“Vamos pra feeestaaa”, festejou o coro a uma só voz!

@chronoes not only just her grief was well written but how Koichi was trying to win her heart and their friendship with Nomuro & Hiroshi were all very well written and very nature.

MPD has never failed me so far. The writer is really good. Although MPD may not have so much intimated scene like the new games, but it never fail to make you laugh until your stomach hurt, cry with emotion and keep you in curiosity on their story that you can’t even stop but continue to the end.

It is so heartbreaking😢😢 Not easy being tough 😢
