It was raining. That only felt right, Roxas thought. His entire life had been a lie, he had left the only person to be nice to him behind after realizing he had lied to him and now he didn’t know where to go. He was a Nobody. He knew that. They were supposed to be looking for their Somebodies. They were supposed to be working towards becoming people again. They weren’t supposed to be able to feel.
So why did he feel so lost?
The keyblades in his hands felt heavy he’s not sure how long he’s been carrying them, only that he had summoned them for something familiar in his hands. Even if wielding them was the only reason the Organization recruited him in the first place, even if they were all anyone else saw when they saw him.
He stops, turning his face to the sky and feeling the rain on his face. He wasn’t supposed to feel. The organization said they weren’t supposed to feel. So why did he? Did Axel? Had he actually cared at some point? Did it matter? He supposed it didn’t. He had left, after all. Left and decided he wasn’t going back. Not like Axel couldn’t have left with him, or before him. Or have told him the truth, ever.
Angry and frustrated, Roxas lowers his gaze when he hears footsteps approaching him. The boy who appears before him feels familiar but it’s all wrong. It’s not his memory, and, despite the coat, he had never been part of the Organization, he knew. Did he?
“I’m not going back,” Roxas whispers to himself, tightening his grip on his keyblades and glaring at the familiar stranger in the distance. “I’m not.”

“That you remain so trusting of all who pass through the gates of your camp - Ishgardians, outlanders, all. That you can so easily allow so many to enjoy Camp Dragonhead’s hospitality without at least disarming them first, that you seem to have no fear of treachery within your walls; how do you do it?”

10 Facts About My Characters
Neirin Nelhah, Trash Mage Extraordinaire
While he is not originally from Hydaelyn (the specifics involve portals, gravitic-time compression, and probably a great deal of luck), Neirin and his younger brother Kuja have both settled comfortably into life on this world. They were taken in by a Gridanian woman, Urha Nelhah, mother of a Warrior of Light. Neirin is, for once in his life, content to be outshone by someone far more competent - he has no interest in fighting primals, winning wars, or otherwise saving the world.
He is a mage. The specific kind of mage is questionable at best; thaumaturgy has given him the most luck in channeling Hydaelyn’s unique aether with his own power, though it isn’t a perfect match. Neirin never received complete training as a mage on his own world, and was too immensely powerful to properly contain his magic himself; here on Hydaelyn, he has sought the aid of a young lalafellin Archmage ( @noexiiistence ) to train him. Results are... mixed. Mostly Neirin’s fault.
He loves, loves, dragons. It’s for the best that his travels don’t take him to Ishgard until after the Dragonsong War has ended, as he would have been an extremely unpopular figure otherwise. As it is, he travels to Dravania, and more or less settles in at Anyx Trine, learning what he can of this world’s dragons.
He remains in Anyx Trine throughout the events of Stormblood, leaving only occasionally to drop in on his brother in Ishgard. He doesn’t particularly care about the outcome of the Ala Mhigan conflict - only that his family makes it out alive.
Neirin used to be a king. He doesn’t mention that much.
Anymore.
Overdramatic and often self-centered, Neirin loves to be the center of attention, and falls into powerful sulks when he isn’t. He has gotten better about this with time and effort... though it has, admittedly, mostly been for his brother’s benefit, as defending Neirin’s wounded pride was keeping Kuja from recovering from the trauma left by the world they left behind.
He has the Echo, but it isn’t strong on Hydaelyn; it’s the lingering after-effects of Neirin’s connection to the crystal of his own home world. Hydaelyn Herself has sort of... reluctantly adopted him. He hasn’t really acknowledged it, and randomly passing out for no clear reason has always sort of been a thing for him.
For all his younger brother is incredibly defensive of him, Neirin is in turn perfectly willing to set on fire anyone who would be willing to harm Kuja. It occasionally catches people by surprise, as otherwise Neirin seems utterly self-absorbed.
Shortly after leaving home for the first time, he earned the infatuation of a young Raen man, Mochiteru, who had the misfortune to be a botanist in Thanalan. They hit it off and, after knowing one another only a few short months, they were married. ...It didn’t last long after Neirin brought Mochi home, however; they parted on friendly terms in one of the very few acts of maturity Neirin ever displayed. Mochi is now instead in a relationship with Ghimfedar, the brother of Kuja’s girlfriend.
He’s still sort of learning self-care. He’s bad at remembering to eat and sleep - and not (as in Stephanivien’s case) because he’s otherwise distracted.

“Hey, Roxas, what’s that?” She’s already over to the table in the Bizarre Room, picking up a little iced cookie from the plate. “These weren’t here last time...” She turns, holding it out to her friend. “They say Eat Me on them, look.” Should they? This is a really weird world, after all...
