Kanra’s Top 17 of 2017

I’ve been pretty productive this year in my writing, and whilst musing mostly to myself on Twitter, I decided that it would be neat if I did a Top 17 of 2017 with different categories and such for writers. 

...the problem with that, I quickly realized, is that I’m complete garbage at reading and I think I’ve only actually read ten fics and mostly from the same small handful of people, so, that’s not really fun, is it? I promise I’ll get better at reading for the upcoming year and better support my friends and fellow writers. 

So then, that leaves me with my own work. As I previously stated, this was a relatively productive year for me as far as writing. I would have loved to have gotten more done, and that is something else I’m going to be working towards in 2018. I’ll have more details on that in a later post, but for now, here is a list, in no particular order, of my Top 17 fics and drabbles I wrote in 2017. They aren’t necessarily my best, but they are my favorites.

Chocobros Favorite Flowers (Noctis)

Roses

Noctis had basically had his favorite flower picked for him.

He’d been surrounded by roses since he was a kid. They were everywhere, at parties, in the garden, at weddings or any other formal event. They had never seemed important to him—they seemed like an everyday occurrence.

It wasn’t until the day he showed Prompto the palace gardens that he thought anything special of them. First it was the sunflowers, and Prompto looked so awed by them that Noctis knew he had to get this boy sunflowers one day, and then it was the roses.

They’d just been casually walking through the garden that Prompto stopped him, grabbed his camera, told him not to move. Noctis didn’t understand at first, but he did as he was told, allowing Prompto take pictures of him as he wanted, only realizing that he’d been in front of the rosebushes when Prompto was finished.

This continued for years. Whenever they were in the garden, or passed by a rosebush in the city. Even when they left for Altissia, if they passed by roses, Prompto wanted pictures.

They were laying in the tent one night after Ignis and Gladio fell asleep, curled up with each other when Noctis finally asked why.

“Roses mean love and passion, and you look the most beautiful when you’re surrounded by them. They make you look like the king you are.”

Noctis kissed him for a long time after that.

Yeah, he had a favorite flower.

Kanra’s Massive Reblog Spree

Yes, yes. I realize I did this a couple months ago, but it was ridiculously impromptu and messy, and it didn’t go over nearly as well as I thought it would. I want to continue putting out content on this blog, and since I’ve closed requests for the time being while I work on other, longer projects and prep for NaNoWriMo, I wanted to give the newcomers or long-time followers a chance to catch up on the things they might have missed from me.
