30 Day BJD Challenge: Day Five

5) What/who was the very first BJD you saw?

This is tricky, because the first time I saw them, I didn’t care and blew them off immediately. I’m guessing it was either Volks YoSD Hinata, or Juri 05, because those are my friend @hamtastrophe‘s favorite sculpts, and she was the one who sent me the first BJD picture I ever saw.

When I came back around to dolls, I was looking for a muscular 1/6 scale adult woman body to customize when I ran into NobilityDoll’s muscular female body. That launched me into BJDs. I looked at a lot, googling “discount bjd” and unknowingly running into recast sites, finding out what they were, etc, but the first one that took my breath away was this picture:

Which I unfortunately saw on a recast site first. Then I followed the link to Iplehouse and discovered everything going on there.

And that’s how Iplehouse first owned the shit out of me. (Now Raccoon does, too, though...I think he was my favorite sculptor at Iple, though I never knew it. He did all my favorites!)

Yeah probably something like that is what I’m aiming for if I go the lady route. 

I’ve been eyeing Iplehouse’s HID woman body. Impldoll also has a muscular body but I hate how the abs are sculpted. Fantasia Doll also has a decent muscular body but they sell in a somewhat limited manner. And there’s a muscular woman body by Nobilitydoll but it was a group order run and the engineering is horrendous.

First of all, KFC ver. Scon from Nobility Doll makes me think of the modern Alvin and the Chipmunks.

They also sell the face plates seperately. At least, I assume they are plates and you don't get the head back. But you could make one if you liked an expression and wanted to hybrid.
