I have ‘borrowed’ this off my sons schools recycling page and honestly it couldn’t be more true... we haven’t purchased balloons as a family in years... yesterday one was floating above the garden high up in the sky and all I could think was where it would land and the damage it could cause 😢😢 with so many beautiful more natural options we don’t need balloons.

This hurts my heart and my soul. Saw this red balloon floating on the water today so I paddled out to retrieve it. Thankfully it was intact without any animals tangled or hurt. Is a few moments of your child's happiness worth an animals life or the health of our oceans? In my opinion, hell no. Balloons are utterly stupid and most often wind up in our waters hurting and polluting this earth. One balloon isn't much you may think but when you magnify it by how many millions of balloons are lost each year the effects are catastrophic. Education and action are the best ways to help us conserve and repair our earth and our seas. If you can't be active in saving the environment you can at least educate your children about how harmful one use plastics can be. Maybe when they ask for a balloon explain to them how this can end up in an innocent animals digestive system and kill them or add to the already enormous pacific garbage patch. Maybe instead you bring them to a local beach and pick up garbage to emphasize the extent of this crisis. This is a crisis. Being ignorant and ignoring the facts in society today is not an option. Our seas are deteriorating at an alarming rate and if you want your Children and grandchildren to enjoy the water like you have then you have to think before you act.
