while i figure that out, not sure if anyone has done it yet, but i want to do a little dive into the basics of the tarot cards used in this jack & joker episode, now that i actually have a moment and can do more than just the basic off the top of my head readings. i’ll be using the golden thread tarot deck mostly because i like how concise it is and also its more accessible to me right now underneath my sleeping dog than my shelf of decks in my room lmao. this is gonna be,,,, real long probably so all the details will be under the cut, if you wanna join me for my rambling:

fun little sidenote before i get started: when i went to begin discussing why i love the use of tarot and nang’s characterization specifically, my card of the day that i drew was the Queen of Swords which is like 100000% The Nang Card™️ lol [complexity, perceptive, clear mindedness etc.]

“a woman of immense complexity, sometimes considered cold-hearted, but also sharp of mind and wit, independent and possessing great powers of organization and analysis.” i won’t go down the rabbit hole of sword suits as a whole bc that’s not the point of this post and so far the show hasn’t gone into minor arcana, so i’m just gonna say HMMMMM very inch resting timing,,,,, anyways,,,

now, of course i have to start with joke’s card and its myriad of double meanings. in just about any piece of media, if you see The Fool card it should automatically be flagged as a red herring. it’s meant for you to look at it and take it at face value based on the words and image…. much like our four little idiots did when first shown their cards. like JOKE YOU GOT THE FOOL BECAUSE YOU’RE A DUMBASS LOL! and he’s the joker so of course he would also be the fool, yes? unfortunately for our little baby clown, the actual symbolism of the card is childlike innocence and naivety, often to their own detriment. it speaks of blank slates, new beginnings, and the start of a journey. “he does not know the dangers that can beset him during his travels, and thus he stumbles forward with complete optimism, never suspecting that he may be walking in a thin tight rope.” oof yikes. sound familiar? nang rly read that boy for filth huh,,,, aside from the obvious heavy handed post-prison clean slate, we’ve also got the metaphor connected to jack’s forgiveness and starting their relationship over. there’s a lot more to be said here as well about how naive joke can be when thinking he’s doing the right thing and that his choices are for the sake of someone else, without clearly seeing the consequences their may be for that person as a result of his actions. at the risk of Never Shutting Up About It, i will have to make myself move on.

i’ll get into tattoo’s card next because it’s really interesting to me that he was assigned The World, which I kind of would have thought would be a card assigned to jack instead. i see what they were going for in this episode with it, i think, but it felt a bit shallow in comparison, so there may be more in relation to this that we have yet to see. as The Fool is the first card (0) in the major arcana, The World is the final card (21). this card symbolizes an ending of a cycle of life, specifically before the beginning of a new cycle of life. it’s an indicator of major and inescapable change. throughout this episode, we see the shift in tattoo’s heart and priorities being held up in comparison to their past heist through some pretty straightforward parallels, so from that angle, The World makes perfect sense. (especially since one reading of The World when in reverse is inertia & stagnation) tattoo wanting to run in and save joke when he thinks he’ll be caught in the heist is our window in to see The World changing. that being said i find it interesting that this card would be chosen for him since it sort of,,,, kickstarts the journey for The Fool and is generally somewhat,,,, final. so i’m just reeeaaaalllllyyyy hoping that this does not mean tattoo has to actually end his cycle in any way other than metaphorical for the other to continue. the man has grown on me, what can i say? 😭 we’re just gonna ignore all those warning bells in my head and choose to go with the “accomplishment and fulfillment from both inner and outer sources” reading. yup.

then we’ve got arun, whose card is The Moon, which is double fun because arun’s name means dawn/sunrise. there’s a lot of meaning that could be extrapolated here, but based on tattoo’s card seeming on surface level to be about the state of his heart and his involvement in this little found family, i’m going to guess that arun’s is the same. The Moon card symbolizes intuition, the unconscious, illusion, and deception. it can be read as a signal of something being not as it appears, a truth you cannot admit to yourself, instincts that we have buried in our unconscious, among other things. this card being chosen for arun actually actively makes me more nervous than tattoo getting The World lol. if we choose to read it at surface value, could just be that in this heist he had to follow intuition, and got himself turned around in the process (eagle statue etc), or just generally that he did not previously appear capable, but here he is helping this mission be pulled off. with the opening scene of arun crying about missing his dad and that,,,, not really getting resolved actually,,,,,, that makes me wonder about some alternate reading options, but like,,,,,, i don’t want to. so. Simply going to close my eyes on that one! no thanks!

then of course there’s everyone favourite head empty good boy, hoy, who was assigned The Star card. out of all the card readings, this boy got the most straightforward one and i’m trying not to read too much into that since they were all assigned by nang and my brain hasn’t quite caught up to [handwaves] whatever she and hoy have got going on over there. this card is symbolic of faith, optimism, and hope. so….. yeah hoy in a nutshell. not a whole lot more to add in there.

skipping The Heirophant card and The Tower card to come back to later because i have Some Theories there and they may make more sense after i go back and rewatch a few things

I didn't want to give too much weight to Hiiragi's tarot reading schtick. Yet, it's an author insert moment, and Kaneshiro loves foreshadowing. I have a worrying feeling that these fortunes may hold true for Chigiri, Barou and Nagi.

Full disclosure: I know very little about tarot, but did some high level reading through Wikipedia and other sources.

Chigiri gets the 15th card of the Major Arcana, the Devil. In the official translation, Hiiragi notes this to represent seduction, betrayal and ruin. Oof.

The obvious connection is to Chigiri's leg—the fortune could be tied to how he was seduced by football, became addicted to it, but will subsequently be betrayed by his leg... leading to ruin.

The Devil tarot card doesn't normally show a bomb, so this is for dramatic effect. Thematically, it implies that Chigiri should find purpose (or know where to seek it) beyond football, ahead of the day his luck runs out. 🥺 Not the outcome I want for our princess, but a second ACL injury has long been speculated by fans. Chigiri himself is aware that it's a risk when playing at this level.

Barou chooses number 12, the Hanged Man. Hiiragi cherry-picks his interpretation; in addition, this card is associated with motifs of self-sacrifice, learning, and change in perspective. It can also be interpreted as a voluntary state, rather than something that befalls a person.

It's a good fit for Barou, who doesn't double down on his ego so much as grow to show why he's deserving of his nickname in the first place. Barou is a king on the pitch, and expects a level of servitude from his teammates, but not without constantly improving his own skills and talent. He's no lazy despot, though despot he may be.

The Hanged Man fortunes supports his emotional outburst during the Ubers match. Barou remarks that he needs the challenge of despair to grow. As such, the trials he puts on himself are deliberate, much like the tarot reading suggests.

Nagi gets #13, Death (because of course he does). This fortune seems to be the most thoughtful of the bunch, unsurprisingly. Hiiragi's interpretation, while intended to provoke Nagi above all, holds up well against what little I've read on tarot.

The Wikipedia page for the Death arcana had some additional nuggets of insight, or rather further ammunition for those of us manifesting a second NagiReo divorce:

Reo is frequently referred to as princely and compared to royalty in the series, with his superfluous wealth and the way he confidently takes on leadership roles among teams. His signature colour, purple, has monarchial associations due to how rare and expensive purple pigments are in nature (prior to the invention of synthetic dyes).

Of course Reo, this royal youth, opposes Nagi's desire to change... seemingly at every hurdle.

It's not deliberate sabotage though, more that they're hamstrung by their co-dependency. Unlike almost every other relationship in Blue Lock, which arose from rivalry or a shared desire to improve, Nagi and Reo's friendship is rooted in the naive promises they made before entering the programme. @thyandrawrites had a great post exploring this recently, which I recommend if you want to delve deeper into the reasons for their underperformance in the Neo Egoist league.

My take is, in essence, if these two could agree to remain friends while moving away from being inseperable on the pitch, they'd both flourish.

Back to tarot: Wikipedia also has a tidbit on reversed cards, which I understand aren't a hardwired aspect of reading tarot (it refers to physical cards that are revealed upside down after being shuffled and dealt). The interpretation Wikipedia gives of an inverted Death card is reminiscent of Nagi's status after he plays against Isagi and Bastard München.

In short: Nagireo bad for one another, and Nagi will undergo quite the metamorphosis in his journey through Blue Lock, if this fortune holds.

Analysis aside, I wouldn't put too much faith into what these fortunes mean for the characters. Tarot itself isn't immutable, and for every motif listed above, the characters also have other tropes influencing the paths they take. For example, Chigiri shares the whole hero/princess trope with Kunigami, which has more plot significance than his leg injury at present. Nagi embodies the role of a natural prodigy who has neither the knowledge or experience to deploy his talents consistently. Barou embodies an villain or anti-hero archetype, when juxtaposed with Isagi. Each character has more to the eye than a simple playing card can reveal which is why I'm here yapping at length about them during my lunch break

Wow! What a nice happy family :3. I sure hope nothing happens to them! :3 I’ve always liked to arrange the series of events like first Selena and Simon met and got married, then the Dracula stuff went down, so uh yeah uh fan interpretation of their (currently) unnamed kids.

The text here says “where’s momma?”, said by his daughter (who by this point is 2-3 about). Shout out to the artist ability to make yourself really sad—

The brother would’ve been born the year of CV1 if I have my math right, so when Simon was 22.

This one is based on an old insert character here kind of meme :D. The text says “step 1: establish character with a little worry but a lot of determination. The original meme only had two images, but each of these are supposed to be based on specific events so yeah. First one is just pre CV1, then the moment he got hit, then shortly after leaving the castle, then in the graveyard 6 years later, then somewhere in the middle of his quest.

This one is fun!!!!!! It’s an idea for like a double sided keychain :D!!!!! One side has the like CV1/CV4 era Simon swinging on one of those loops and the other is Simon’s Quest!!! And it’s supposed to be the Hanged Man tarot card!!! So cool!!! Idk how making keychains works so if I actually did this I’d probs just make one in shrink plastic tbh. But ough it would be so cool to actually make and sell little fan keychains and stuff (TwT ).

In a post of urs talking about buying candles and Thanatos choosing one how did you know he chose it and just like how in so many other ways like do you trust your intuition or cards or something else

I couldn't choose a gift for Hermes or anything he liked because I couldn't tell if he liked it or not 😭 I also don't communicate much because I don't know how and and tarot readings are hard coz I can't read cards yet.

@divine-thievery Oof, yeah I understand the issue with tumblr not letting side blogs do asks, though you could've always asked via your main blog and linked me to your side blog.

Anyways, I'm not that good at reading Tarot either but if you do have a Tarot deck it should've hopefully of come with a Guidebook (although I am aware that some don't have Guidebooks), but due to the Tarot deck I had personally decided to buy I did find a PDF of the Guidebook online, go to page 53 and take a look at the Yes/No spread. I find the Yes/No spread is easy to use especially when it comes to simple questions and by far is my most used method. There are different ways to use a Yes/No spread but I find the method in the Guidebook for my deck easy to use and simple to understand.

As for what I did to get the answers from my Deities, I explained out loud to each one of how I was going to have them pick the candles, I shuffled once for each since I was asking multiple instead of just one Deity, but what I did was set the six candles I had purchased in a line, opened the lids, and then I said "Okay, I'm going to do a custom version of the Yes/No spread, 'no' is for if you don't like the candle, 'yes' is for if you do, I'm going to place five cards upside-down by each candle and then I'm going to flip them over to see what the response is." Although in Artemis' case she literally made it quite obvious she didn't care at all what candle she gets since her answers were technically just "maybe" since all cards had the same amount of yes cards and no cards, while Thanatos literally gave a full "yes" for one candle and a "maybe" for two others and no for the rest.

I don't know if any of that makes any sense, I will proudly say I am Autistic so my way of explaining things may not make sense to others as it's difficult for me to put into words, but I hope this does somewhat help.

2.3 Penacony thoughts [part 4]

***SPOILER WARNING*** for the ending of the 2.3 story update for everything after the Charmony Festival. This should be the last part of the story so if you haven’t finished it for yourself yet, please do return once you have.

Despite the dreammaster “forcing” Acheron out of Penacony, I was still patiently for her to show up at some point during the festival. While she didn’t make a guest appearance upon the grand ship in the sky, she did manage to get a whole scene to herself, but unfortunately, it starts right at the gravesite and I already know I’m in for an emotional ride..

I’m so happy that out of all the experiences and people she may have forgotten about, that Acheron remembers Tiernan so clearly and delivered flowers like he originally wanted: 

“What I do know is that one day, I too will pass away, and when I bid farewell to this world… Someone will stand at my grave and place a bouquet of flowers on it.”

We haven’t even met these trailblazers personally and most likely never will, but to still get emotional for them despite that is truly an amazing feeling, even if it’s a highly upsetting one. You can really feel the respect the crew has for all three of them.

It’s hard for me to grasp that Gallagher “died” as well, considering he wasn’t truly alive? I don’t know what to feel for him, honestly. I kinda enjoyed that twist at the end of 2.1 where we were lead to think he was a villain, but then 2.2 happened and tossed that idea aside. I’m at least glad March and I shared the same wondering mind about what he meant by saying he was only 13. I know people have theorized it to mean he’s “death” as that number of a tarot card, but a confirmation would’ve been nice.

It was at this moment where I started to realize that each one of our faithful cremates were taking turns saying goodbye to everyone, so leaving Himeko last to speak with Mikhail was perfect.

Our lovely navigator begins with “This entire adventure started because of you, and should naturally end with you.”  Oof, talk about going full circle. That’s beautiful.

I can’t really put into words what about this moment with March made me feel. I’m certain it was also due to whatever sad, slow music was playing in the background at this point of the story too, but even I started feeling this sort of strange regret. Their lives had to be so similar as they trailblazed through space, experiencing all kinds of people, places and feelings, and you would hope and pray their lives had a good ending, but you could never be sure, so this lingering sort of emptiness fills up inside you as your words of wonder and thanks fall of deaf ears.

Man.. no matter how often I hear it, but knowing that our lives are indeed short lived compared to all the time in the world will never be easy for me to accept. I can’t even begin to tell you how frequently people tell me I’m still young and capable of doing so much with my life but knowing deep down that so much time has already passed and I had missed so many opportunities to enjoy what I have, create everlasting memories and experience a life I’d be proud of living. Even now I’m sitting here wondering if this life has been worth it and if I’ve ever been truly happy with everything that’s going on or simply finding sporadic moments of peace where I’m content enough to embrace that one feeling and ignore everything else to fool myself in thinking I’m fine with it all. Sorry, I’m delving far too deep into my own mind with this.

I believe that deja vu is such a wild feeling, to experience a scenario that seems so familiar to a moment in your past is crazy. I dunno how it is for everyone, but whenever I feel it, I always wonder if what I’m feeling in this moment is a sort of warning from my past telling me that there’s something strange or memorable about the present moment in time. I dunno how to explain it, but if our mind has to remind us that a specific moment like this has happened already, then surely it would have to be for a good reason or important in some way, right? It’s interesting to think about anyways.

Okay now, this scene.. this gorgeous image that I had to no doubt choose for the cover photo is fantastic. She’s beautiful and that gentle smile on her face makes you feel so safe and thankful that you embarked on this journey. At least, that’s what I’m personally feeling. That sense of deja vu is also coming back to me here, but I believe it’s solely because of certain words she’s speaking and Allegra’s tone of voice with them that make this all feel so familiar to me.

She continues on to say “All those things, beautiful before, are still so now. And I believe… It will still bloom at the end of Nihility, until we meet again beneath the sun’s rays,” and y’all I wanna cry with how beautiful this entire moment is. Look at our girl! Aaaahh.. Everything with the previous trailblazers was upsetting, of course, but saying our farewell to Acheron, someone who has been at our side (sorta kinda) since the beginning of our Penacony journey and stayed close assisting us with all the dangers we faced up until this moment.. oohh my heart hurts. It may be because I experienced these updates as they released, thus spanning over several months of time, so it feels as if Acheron has been in my life longer compared to those I met during both Belobog and Luofu stories as I zoomed through them without pause since I started playing towards the end of 1.4 and therefore didn’t have to wait for updates, but yeah. Wonderful character. Allegra deserves the upmost praise with her performance and I seriously need to pull for her next time.

Ah, you can always count on the Express family to lighten up the mood just a little bit.. just not too much since Pom-Pom is literally sobbing upon learning the status of their dearly departed friends.

Hey, it’s not our fault chaos just so happens to follow us around everywhere like we’re some kind of protagonist in a well written, engaging and exciting story! 

Nothing makes me happier when we’re given the option to can crack a couple jokes during a serious conversation.

Once again, I’m not even gonna question how or why she’s here. At this point, Black Swan seems like the perfect plot convenience that needs no explanation. 

“Charming little dragon” indeed.

Our next stop I assume? And how shall we get there if it’s “hidden away” and “only revealed by the light from the mirror of the Garden of Recollection?” Surely Black Swan would assist us, yes? At least I hope so, if it’ll mean she’s still around for a bit longer. She also mentions it’s a world “fettered by three paths” and I’m curious are to which three she’s referring to.

As per usual with ending scenes, 2.3 gives us one more surprise that also leaves me with many questions because what on earth is happening here and why and how?

Apparently this is a hard place to get into.. and yet here Jade is. She comes on the behalf of Robin’s wishes, which I pretty much assumed it would’ve been saving Sunday’s life, but the one who has to pay the heavy price is not Robin, but Sunday himself? That is if I’m understanding what’s happening here correctly. Instead of ranting about being equal to a god, he has to live as a normal citizen? It seems fine enough to us, but for him it’s probably out of his mind to even consider acting in such a way, even denying her “charity” at first.

As we learned, Jade is a very patient woman so she doesn’t expect an answer right away. She then instead leaves some parting words in the form of a warning “from someone who’s been in your shoes before” and judging by all the chains, I can’t help but think of Aventurine when she gives the following advice:

And with that.. 2.3 is finished. I know there’s a handful of side quests to do now and perhaps they might fill in some random questions I have about this entire story, but presently, I’ll say Penacony was at least a very enjoyable yet wild ride. There were many times were I was so lost in what was happening and I feel like there were too many characters, motives and ideals to keep track of, yet on the flip side there were other characters we didn’t get much information about at all and were just kinda there. Penacony did have a fantastic vibe though from all the great music, challenging bosses, and an endless amount of memorable moments whether they were emotional, jaw dropping or straight up hilarious. Was it truly “heartwarming and wholesome” like they said? Perhaps a little bit, but it was truly an exciting experience and well worth the wait and hype. Is it my favorite story arc so far? Hhmm, debatable. I still have very strong feelings for Belobog.. so that's probably it.

Hiii 🥰 Sorry for the wait, it's been busy!

🔮 What’s your favorite form of divination? What’s your least favorite?

Oof that's already a tough one because there's so much good to so many different ones. I love tarot and oracle cards especially because every deck has a little bit of the artist's energy sprinkled in them and there are so many beautiful ones out there. Visuals really help me along too so having an image with clear symbolism always helps me figure out a message more easily.

But I think, for favorite, I'd go with the pendulum. I don't use it as often as I used to but feeling my guides and deities energies on the pendulum is so overwhelmingly beautiful. The feeling of having whole conversations without having to keep checking a guidebook for clues works really well for me. I've been meaning to pick up the pendulum charts again because they are so helpful in communicating with spirit!

Least favorite is really hard. Maybe dreams? It's not something I dislike, it's just that I'll either overthink the symbols in my dreams or don't pick up on what it actually means and get frustrated. Plus I have so much trouble remembering my dreams. I have asked for signs in my dreams before but never really felt anything resonate all that much. So again, not a dislike, just something that hasn't been consistently helpful for me.

Have you ever thought, “Gee, I love Snow White, but I wish it was significantly more fucked up.  I wish it was like an oddly religious Saw movie.  I wish the villain was a shitty dad instead of yet another evil stepmom, and also the devil because, once again, oddly religious.”  Hoo boy have I got a story for you, and I’m going to assume most of you won’t know it since I’m mildly obsessed with fairy tales and I didn’t.   GIANT trigger warning for parental abuse and maiming and subtextual threat of rape in case you didn’t assume that from my intro, guys.

Full text is findable here – I’m not reprising the whole thing since it’s got quite a few twists and turns.  Basically the father pulls a dumbass ‘what’s that, you just want whatever’s standing behind my house in exchange for enormous riches, mysterious stranger?  I foresee no downside!’ and accidentally promises the devil his extremely lovely and virtuous daughter.  She’s so clean and virtuous (apparently physical cleanliness really is the same as godliness here?) that the devil can’t touch her, so he orders dear old dad to keep her from being able to wash so that he can take her.   She’s washed clean by her tears overnight, so next he tells Dad to CHOP OFF HER FUCKING HANDS ffs and he protests for like half a second, but as soon as it’s going to be him taken instead he goes and tells the daughter, forcing her to offer to let him do it to save himself.  AND HE DOES.  Look, I’m not saying I’m heroic, but I’d like to think that most people would not be talked into maiming their child so that they can go be – tortured more in hell?  Raped by the devil?  I’m pretty much assuming that one, it seems obvious.

Anyhow, the daughter washes her STUMPS clean with her tears again because apparently sacrificing yourself for your shitty dad only goes so far, physical cleanliness is what we’re into here, and she’s saved again and the devil leaves.

To her credit, she immediately nopes out of that house and away from the dad who thinks things will just be ok now, and goes off planning to rely on the kindness of strangers.  It’s a big swing from someone who was just massively betrayed by family but that’s why she’s the awesomest good girl, I guess.

I really have to skip ahead some or I’ll be telling the whole story after all – an angel helps her get to a pear tree for sustenance, then helps her meet the king who owns the orchard, they get married and she gets pregnant (and a set of silver prosthetics, which, heavy, right?  I would have thought wood might be more comfortable?  She probably ended up with fantastic biceps from lifting them) and pregnant, and then the king has to go off to war and the devil comes back to fuck with the poor girl some more.  There are a bunch of faked messages back and forth, the mother-in-law gets told to murder the girl and save her tongue and eyes as proof, and at least she’s not up for that – she gets deer parts as a substitute and sends the girl off with her baby tied to her back.

Aaaand here we are at the moment I picked for this card- the angel leads her to a house with a sign saying ‘here all dwell free’ and she lives there, well cared for, for the next seven years till her husband comes back from war, finds out what happened, and goes after her.  Also, her hands grow back.  It ends happily, but oof is it a trip getting there.  The Grimm brothers, living up to their name!

my family is christian but i don't buy it. i'm looking for some spiritual belief to see if any seem to vibe with me, if that makes sense. so i have some questions for you!

what exactly is witchcraft and what does it involve?

is this the same as paganism?

are there any parts of witchcraft you don't believe/ think is a hoax? for example, i believe in an afterlife but i don't believe in mediums. i believe that ghosts can communicate with everyone and everyone has the capability to communicate back!

these are all genuine questions and i'm sorry if they come across nosy or if i've said something wrong. i'm just terribly nosy.

oof ok so i just wanna preface this by saying that a) i'm a beginner and still figuring out what i believe in and b) witchcraft is very subjective so if you disagree with stuff i say that's completely fine and even encouraged. your practice is personal to you and you should create your own unique belief system!

what sort of things do i do? there are different paths of witchcraft – for example green witchcraft, hedge witchcraft, sea witchcraft etc – and i'm an eclectic witch, so i combine many different aspects, although i'm mostly a green witch and an elemental witch, working with nature, plants and herbs and using the four basic elements in my practice a lot. i also make sigils a lot and am learning to read tarot!

what exactly is witchcraft? soooo you know how i said it's subjective? yeah everyone's craft is different and everyone has different definitions, so the short answer to this question is i have no idea. especially since everyone has different ideas about how it works, too. for some people, it's theories about physics and dark matter and science that we just haven't discovered yet (i'm always wary of the people that use science to explain their beliefs since it's nearly always pseudoscience, but many say things like 'well what we consider science now would have been magic centuries ago' and that's fair). some people are animists, and believe that everything has a soul, and they can use this in their working while honouring nature spirits. there are people similar to animists except instead of everything having a soul, everything has an 'energy' that can be harnessed, which is one of the most popular beliefs. also, many believe that you use energy from living beings and use things like herbs and crystals to channel this. this last one is the one i believe in the most, with a dash of animism in that i believe that every living thing has a soul (it's more complex than that but yeah). but you are a witch if you are aiming to indirectly manipulate what happens to you using spells. that's vague ik but that's what we all have in common – manipulating the future

is this the same as paganism? nope! many pagans are witches and many witches are pagans, but there isn't a full overlap. paganism is the worship of nature-related or 'ancient' deities. animism, which i mentioned before, comes under paganism too

are there any parts of witchcraft you don't believe/ think is a hoax? im going to only half-answer this question, just because you should come up with your own beliefs and mine are unique to me, i guess. also i'm still figuring out what i do and don't believe. it's very good that you are already doing this, and try to just think 'do i believe this' every time you read anything about witchcraft, partly because that's a great way to form your own opinions and partly because the witchcraft community is fraught with pseudoscience. one thing to be careful of is 'new age' which is a belief system that has taken over a lot of modern witchcraft but is incredibly problematic for a number of reasons. @ pondering-the-kaiju has some great resources about this in their pinned.

lastly, if youre looking for beginner resources, @ breelandwalker is brilliant, and also my favourite youtubers who i HIGHLY recommend are chaotic witch aunt, the hearth witch, the green witch and the witch of wonderlust. seriously, if you're looking to start out, watching a few of their videos is one of the best ways.

Oof, the birthday existential dread is hitting hard this year, one more day to go, it's like a panic attack/scream is sitting in the back of my throat,

I've always, as long as I can remember been terrified of getting older, I was never one of those kids who couldn't wait to grow up, I always look on my birthday with wary disdain,

One of my oldest memories is of waking up in my first house the one I was baby through seven, I think I was around four in this memory based on a couple things,

Anyway I'm waking up I can feel the sun on my face but I haven't opened my eyes yet, I'm on the couch facing a window, (I hardly ever slept in my proper bed, and I would sleep walk into different spots curl up and go to sleep) and I knew it was my birthday and Im squeezing my eyes shut, wishing my birthday would just go away and leave me alone,

I've never known how to describe it to people, most people either think I'm lying 'who doesn't like birthdays' think I'm over exaggerating how long 'what KID doesn't LOVE their birthday, your misremembering' or they think I like hate old people or some shit, and it's... *Sigh* it's hard to explain, I don't know how to get what it feels like across, it just IS, it's something I just have to swallow every year, while trying to make the best of it,

Any way last week I was drooling over this guy's artwork on Etsy specifically his tarot cards when I noticed he has playing cards much cheaper then the tarot, and I was like 'ooo, hey ma look how pretty' and she started pawing for her credit card 'birthday present?'

They just got in today... The sixth and funny enough my birthday card from my... We'll call her my aunt she might as well be, certainly the only one outside ma who gives a shit anyhow, anyway they came in together isn't that funny, and ma had found this neat glass box that she got me the day before,

Now I gotta try an find that post on using playing cards for divination,
